Introduction and Setting the Scene

Speaker
Welcome to Awakened Bake, an educational, high vibrational, mystical, spiritual pot, I'm sorry, podcast, from one girl, one baby, and a journey to awaken what's inside all of us. And the words of the wise was Khalifa. Let's roll something and get the day started. Hello, everybody. Good morning from Kelso and Phoebes. Good morning, good evening, good night, good whatever. Whatever it is, wherever you are, have it be good.
00:00:27
Speaker
Okay, so today it is September 15th. So it is the very beginning of fall when I'm recording this. So whenever you're listening to it, yeah, just know that this was recorded September 15th, which is seven days before the autumnal equinox, which is September 22nd this year. So everybody get ready. So I wanted to talk a bunch about
00:00:53
Speaker
All of that stuff, I did some research on what all of it means, how to get us all ready, and so we can get the most out of, not only this fall, but the Equinox as well. But first, let's do some housekeeping stuff.

Personal Milestones and Podcast Achievements

00:01:08
Speaker
First of all, I need to brag because Phoebe talked. Yep. She had her first conversation with me, and I bawled like a baby. And okay, by talking, I mean she like,
00:01:21
Speaker
cooed is what they call it, but she said ooh in her adorable little baby voice. It's a big deal because it was a choice. She deliberately tried to speak. It wasn't just what she's doing right now, which is just making random noises.
00:01:42
Speaker
Um, and so it was just the coolest thing, like seeing her little brain, like I could see the gears turning as she was like trying to respond to me. And then, yeah, we went back and forth like 10 times. It was so, uh, I'm going to cry again. It was just beautiful. It was awesome. Um, motherhood is amazing. It's hard as fuck, but it also is honestly the coolest thing I've ever done to watch this little human like grow and change every single day. Cole put it a really good way that I hadn't thought of it. Like.
00:02:11
Speaker
She's only like 40 days old. So her entire life is only 40 days. So for her like every hour is like a month, you know, like, like
00:02:24
Speaker
She learns and she changes so fast and grows so quickly because like her life is so short. Yeah It's literally a it's just a wild ride guys. Like I don't know any of you who are parents who are listening You know what? I mean any of you who want to be parents someday it is Crazier than you could ever imagine My only advice so far and I know I'm very new so I probably shouldn't be giving advice but my only advice is just like
00:02:55
Speaker
Trust yourself. Trust that everything is happening the way it needs to happen because, yeah, that's all that matters. You just need to trust. You just need to know that it is going to go, and that's fine. Second of all, a huge congratulations to all of us here at Awake and Bake, me and Danielle.
00:03:21
Speaker
Um, because officially Awakened Bake was named, uh, in the top five of all-time indie spiritual podcasts on the Good Pods Odd, uh, app. And I am pretty freaking stoked about that. All time. We, we, top five all-time spiritual podcasts in like
00:03:42
Speaker
That is something that I never thought, I don't know, I mean, I always knew it could happen, but I didn't think it would be happening that like, that's huge. And it feels so cool. And I'm so proud of us. And I am just so grateful for Danielle and to have a partner that is doing this with me, that we believe everything that we're saying wholeheartedly. And we're just here to be our authentic selves and to share the frickin love and get a little high. And I
00:04:10
Speaker
I love Awake and Bake. I love Danielle. I love all y'all. That's all you got to say about that, except for we would also really love to thank you for all of the YouTube love. Dani does the best smoke with me's on YouTube, on our channel.
00:04:28
Speaker
Not only are they educational and beneficial for your actual spiritual growth and even just human growth, but they're also fucking hilarious. She's the funniest bitch around, and so you need to get on that. You need to start watching. You need to join the literal thousands of people who are watching these videos. Get on it if you're not there yet. Really, you don't want to miss out on it. I feel like it's growing into a huge part of
00:04:59
Speaker
Awaken big like as much as the podcast is our main focus kind of I feel like YouTube is definitely coming up and I think Danny's been putting so much work into it and so like I just they are top tier top quality not even like a YouTube person like I don't sit and watch you videos on YouTube very often and Maybe it's cuz she's one of my best friends, but I could listen to Danny talk all day every day It's just I could I could
00:05:26
Speaker
Okay, now on to autumn.

Embracing Fall and Its Spiritual Significance

00:05:29
Speaker
It is here. Fall is upon us. I love fall.
00:05:37
Speaker
I love all things fall. I love the basic things fall, like the pumpkin spice and the apple picking and the pumpkins and like all the boots. Oh my God. I used to love the scarves, but I feel like that's just too much of a joke now. Um, the weather, the leaves, I literally every single thing about fall I love. I'm obsessed with, I am basic and that is, that is my,
00:06:07
Speaker
my basic trait is I fucking love autumn I love fall I love saying autumn because I sound pretentious like I love oh I love it I love it but mostly I love the energy so I okay fall obviously for a lot of us signifies like start of school when I tell you I loved the start of school it was my favorite
00:06:32
Speaker
part of the year, like more than the end of school, more than the start of summer. I love the first few days of school because that's kind of when I shine. I'm great at like beginnings and ends. Middle is kind of rough for me. Like when I'm working on a project, I start it great and I finish it great, but the middle part of it involves a lot of procrastination and avoidance, which yes, are kind of the same thing. Whatever. Shut up. Mommy rain.
00:06:59
Speaker
So anyways, I am like like I was a fine student I just didn't apply myself because I got bored so like at the beginning of the school year It's like oh my god. Yes, I have this momentum. I'm gonna do awesome. I'm starting at the end of the year I'm like yeah, I fucking pulled it off because this is easy and You know you guys all said I couldn't do it in one night. You did in one night, and I'm doing just fine so this period this time right now is like yeah beginning of school year energy and
00:07:28
Speaker
It just is so healing for me. It makes me feel so inspired to get organized and to get all of my shit together, but not a type A way. It's not an obsessive thing or a negative thing. It's the best feeling.
00:07:48
Speaker
decluttering and refocusing and getting some goals together. But I feel like I do it without the expectation, I guess, or without the pressure. I'm not going to try to start to run a marathon in the fall. That's not going to be me. What I am going to do is be like, oh, you know, this sounds good. Oh, dream. That was a great time for dreaming. That's what I'm going to say.
00:08:11
Speaker
something about just like the breeze and the crisp air and the scenery. Like it just inspires me so much. And just to like start something or even like I said, like just dream it up and just like be in love with it. I feel like it inspires me to like look inward with gratitude and grace and just celebrate all of the wins of the year already.
00:08:35
Speaker
And like I said, dream about the future, but save just that work for later. Like it's just a whimsical time to me. Um, and that kind of makes sense because it is like the harvest time, like it's fall. It's time to gather, hunt and get, not hunt and gather, like gather the vegetables, you know, like the old farms. I know a lot about farms and farms and farming clearly.
00:09:02
Speaker
Um, but yeah, like it's just the perfect time to like, personally, if you want to do a little personal harvest, you're going to see how far you've come this year and celebrate like being here for this beautiful time of year, making it through the year. Um, if you remember we did an episode a little bit back, um, I think it was the beginning of summer.
00:09:20
Speaker
that I was talking about all the different seasons and how they equate to life. So like what we're supposed to be doing during the focusing on during those seasons. So like summer is like the growth season. Fall is the harvest season. You're gonna gather everything. You're gonna reap what you sow.
00:09:38
Speaker
Winter is the death and then spring is the rebirth to which you then plant again and then have the growth of the summer. So we are in that harvest time and what that means spiritually and mentally is that you're going to harvest your knowledge, you're going to harvest your experiences of the year and you're going to celebrate them. You're going to acknowledge how far you've come and the gratitude that you have for everything that you've learned and gone through.
00:10:03
Speaker
because the fact of the matter is, the year is wrapping up. Death is next. Winter is next. The time of rest and relaxation is next. So this is our time to focus on what we've done, how far we've come, and just celebrate that exact fact. No matter who you are, no matter how you think you did this year, the fact that you're here right now listening to my beautiful voice,
00:10:32
Speaker
means that you've made it and you've done something enough. You're enough. You're worthy. You're good. We're here. That alone is caused for that celebration and harvest that, harvest how it feels to have made it through another year and to be going into the next period, which is that period of rest, the period of quote unquote death, where you can just release everything and just give yourself time
00:10:59
Speaker
to not stress and to not do that work to just dream or don't dream just be present just live in each moment slowly slow living i feel like is key for winter i feel like i didn't realize how much everything kind of ties in together and like
00:11:20
Speaker
summer is hot. And that like allows you to move quicker and be quicker and it kind of inspires you to like, be quick, go, go, go. Whereas winter in the coolness, I mean, right, that's supposed to slow us. We are supposed to take our time. You're supposed to just enjoy this period of death because death is not a bad thing. And especially in this sense, what we're talking about is the death of a year, which is
00:11:45
Speaker
a cyclical thing the next year is coming um so there's it's just the most beautiful time and i don't know i i get like just so moved by sorry i thought phoebe was gonna say something oh she might cry oh phoebe
00:12:05
Speaker
Phoebe, also, sorry, my phone's dinging. I forgot to silence it. Guys, remember, I'm doing this as a mommy now, and a brand new one. Hopefully, I won't have to do this with her on my chest forever, but right now, that's the only way she naps, is if she's on me. It's my only choice. I'm doing this super late. If you're watching or watching, listening in real time,
00:12:29
Speaker
Then you know that this is coming out on a Friday, which we usually release on Thursdays. And I posted on our Instagram story that it was going to be out today. And it is, but it's not going to be out at 6am. We usually release our episodes. I am on mommy time and I have mommy brain. And that is enough excuse for absolutely anything for the rest of my life. Okay. Anyways, let's talk equinox now.

Exploring the Equinox: Balance and Life Cycles

00:12:57
Speaker
Like I said earlier, the equinox is September 22nd and it represents balance, duality. The masculine and feminine energy are equal on this day. That's because night and day are equal. We have about 12 hours of sunlight, 12 hours of night light. It's about equality. It's about balance.
00:13:20
Speaker
And that means it's time to find your balance, embrace the duality of life, embrace the masculine and feminine within you, embrace the night and the day, maybe get up for the sunrise and watch the day start and then stay up for the sunset and enjoy the day ending and night coming and allowing that relaxing energy to then seep in just like we're going to go through with the seasons we're going through. We go through every, every day with this, like I said, the cyclical.
00:13:50
Speaker
So the daytime is for doing work and getting things done and planning. And then the nighttime, the evening is for you to relax and reset and energize yourself for the next day so that you can continue forward. It's just such a, I don't know, it's so cool to think about just how everything
00:14:10
Speaker
Everything has so many parallels. Everything is connected. All of it is one. I've been rambling on for so long. I'm going to wrap this up, but first I want to give you some tips for spiritual growth in autumn. This is for all of autumn. What you're going to want to do is reflect and release. What can you cut loose? Loose, leash. That isn't serving you before your next life or year, obviously not your, you know,
00:14:38
Speaker
Like I said, talking small cycles. So reflect, like I said, on those accomplishments and what you've been through on your feelings and release anything that has happened this past year that doesn't serve you, that you don't want to hold on to anymore, that you're ready to live without cooking and baking. Now, I know some of you are going to say, I'm not a chef. I don't like to cook. I don't like blah, blah, blah. Okay. Hear me out. Just try in the autumn.
00:15:08
Speaker
Just try. Just really make an intentional meal honoring your food, honoring mother nature. Bonus points if you can make something with something you can actually harvest. I don't know if you planted vegetables this year or if you could plan to do that next year.
00:15:26
Speaker
But just go out. Oh, apples. Oh my God. I was going to say like, I was trying to think of an example, but like apple picking, duh. It's fall. Go apple picking and make an apple pie. Make an apple crisp. Oh man, I need to stop thinking about desserts. Sounds so good.
00:15:42
Speaker
Okay, this next one I love. Acknowledge impermanence. Autumn reminds us that everything must come to an end and it tries to help us know that that is okay. And again, like I said earlier, it is cyclical. Life is cyclical.
00:16:02
Speaker
What is coming next, the quote-unquote end, is not an end. It's just the start of a new beginning. So give yourself grace in these end times. I almost said quote-unquote again and I need to stop saying that. There's a great quote from Wallace Stevens who's a poet.
00:16:23
Speaker
And he says, death is the mother of beauty. And I just think that that is so true. And it's such a look on death that so many of us, a perspective that we don't put ourselves in, finding the beauty in death. I think death is one of the most beautiful things in the world. I have given birth now and I have seen death and they have equal beauty in very different ways, but it is something that's not scary. It is worth honoring. And especially when it comes to the
00:16:52
Speaker
the non-measurable ends, I guess I'll say, like the end of the year, like a season of your life. Our life runs in seasons, our moods run in seasons. And so if you're having a hard season, maybe it's a season where you're meant to rest and relax, not a season where you're meant to go out and just go get them.
00:17:14
Speaker
Give yourself some grace. Stop and reflect and think, what am I feeling right now? What is not working? If what's not working is rushing and trying to get everything done and going crazy, stop that. Listen to yourself. If that's not serving you, if that is what's making you not feel good, you can stop. You can take a break. Honey, this is me telling you, Mama Kelce, I'm here.
00:17:40
Speaker
Get in here. It's okay.

Connecting with Nature and Releasing Negativity

00:17:42
Speaker
Take a break. Go take a nap. Go get a nice fuzzy blanket, nice weighted fuzzy blanket. Curl up in a little ball. Maybe get a book, maybe don't. Maybe get a snack, maybe don't. Whatever your little heart desires, okay? You pretty little thing. Take a deep breath. Fall asleep. Do what you gotta do. Masturbate, masturbate. Oh my God, masturbate. That'll help. Masturbate, then nap.
00:18:10
Speaker
You got my permission. Okay. All right. I'm going to stop talking like this now. Okay. Now some equinox rituals. I don't know what that was guys. So just, we're going to go, we're going to move forward. Um, so for September 22nd to get the most out of your equinox, here's what you want to do. You are going to cleanse and clean yourself, your home, your car, your altar.
00:18:37
Speaker
I'm going to say that one again because I need the reminder, your altar, cleanse it, clean it, revamp it, reorganize things, put stuff in. I feel like energy is different in the fall. My feng shui of the spring is very different of my home's feng shui in the winter or the fall. It changes and it's okay to change. Change your area. It's so energizing. Oh, I love it.
00:19:03
Speaker
cook a meal, something you harvest is another one. So like I was talking about earlier, this can be your day to do it. If you're like, because I don't want to fucking bake, this is what you'll do on your holiday of the autumnal equinox. Number three, watch the sunset and the sunrise. I told you this too already, but I just wrote it down in the list of rituals. So don't come at me for being repetitive.
00:19:24
Speaker
So watch the sunrise and the sunset be present with the energy shift at both times and really try to feel the difference between the two. How immediate doesn't happen? Do you find that as soon as the sun goes down, you are ready to rest? Or do you have a little bit of a high after that ends where you're excited about the moon and the female energy that's coming in and the night that's ahead of you?
00:19:46
Speaker
What's it like? Tell me all your secrets. Go outside. I feel like every single list of rituals, everyone's going to tell you the same thing. Go outside. There's very few things that are
00:20:03
Speaker
universally true and going outside and connecting with nature and being present is going to get you closer to source, raise your vibration and make you a happier person. And that's a fucking fact. Everyone knows it. So just do it. Go outside, touch some leaves, touch some grass, really get into it, masturbate outside, lay down and no, I'm just kidding. I'm not doing that again.
00:20:26
Speaker
release, release, release. Like I said earlier, this is a time to reflect and release and it's so important that you do that release part. I feel like that's where I mess up. I'm going to be honest, I'm going to take one.
00:20:38
Speaker
for myself. I reflect. I love reflecting. I have every month or every year in November, I do a month of reflections where I just am reflecting. Get it? But what I forget to do is the release. I forget to intentionally cast away the energy that's not serving me of that past year.
00:21:01
Speaker
And I think it's a huge disservice that I'm doing for myself. So just remember that it is as important as it is to look inward. It's also important to cleanse that inner energy.
00:21:12
Speaker
There's a million ways you can do it. Meditating works great for me. Journaling really helps me to find kind of what it is that might be fueling something that's burning up inside me, something that's like I'm ignoring, something that I need to face face to face. And so yeah, a lot of times I'll journal and then to get rid of like an emotion if that's what's being evoked is like the anger at someone like my mom
00:21:43
Speaker
that I will write a letter to that person, putting all that anger, all that energy out into the letter and then ending it, you know, just...
00:21:54
Speaker
No, no permanence to it. No closure necessarily, you know, just an end, like just, it is just about the feelings, writing all of that down and all the things that I want to say. And then no apologies, no nothing, you know, like it's, it's strictly an emotion letter. And then I like to take that bitch and I burn her up. Fire is a great way to help you, a great tool to utilize to help you release. Burning something is so helpful. If there was a,
00:22:25
Speaker
bad path I was going to follow. If I was going to be a felon, it would be an arsonist. I'd be a serial arsonist. I love fire. There's a reason I probably love smoking so much because I get to play with fire for a second and then I get to inhale all that smoke. Then the last one is reflection and gratitude. You've released
00:22:46
Speaker
I emphasize that also just as important is the reflecting and the finding gratitude for everything that's happened. Reflect on where you've come from. Reflect on where you're going. Just reflect on what this year has felt like. If you do nothing else, think about your emotions. I'm working with my therapist right now a lot about emotional regulation, emotional recognition.
00:23:08
Speaker
So that's very heavy on my mind. That's something that I'm really working with. And I was talking to her about my dreams and how they've been kind of stressful lately. They've been very, they've been evoking a lot of emotion, a lot of feelings. And those feelings that come up are frustration and like serious anger and like overpowering sadness from a multitude of things that happen in the dreams.
00:23:35
Speaker
And my therapist just reminded me, and so here's if you need this reminder, too, that dreams are about feelings.

Closing Remarks and Gratitude

00:23:43
Speaker
They're not about the content of the dream. What's happening, as weird as it can be, does not mean that you want that thing to happen or that you have some deep desire. What matters and what has meaning in your dreams is the feeling that it evokes. So that's just a little tidbit from my therapist. We love you, Natalie. You're amazing.
00:24:03
Speaker
Okay, well, I feel like I'm running out of time before Phoebe's gonna wake up. Thank you again for the YouTube love. Thank you again for making us one of the top five spiritual podcasts of all time on Good Pods. We love you, Good Pods. And thank you to my sweet baby girl, Phoebe, for talking yesterday.
00:24:19
Speaker
And obviously thank you all for being here and listening to us. As always, you know me, I have mommy brain, like I said. So any times that I stumbled on my speech, please don't make fun of me. Please keep loving me. I love you. Say hi.
