Introduction and Vibes

Speaker
And the secret to happiness is...
00:00:08
Speaker
Welcome to Awake and Bake, an educational, high vibrational, spiritual, mystical pot, I'm sorry, podcast from two girls, one joint, and a journey to awaken what's inside all of us. In the words of the wise Wiz Khalifa, let's roll something and get the day started. All right, day has begun.

Smoke Session and Puppies

00:00:25
Speaker
Welcome to Awake and Bake, you guys. This is a Smoke With Us episode. Class is in session. Please pull up, have your notes ready. Just kidding. We are smoking on a little pen. It's a hybrid Delano. Where is it? I know, right? Where is it?
00:00:37
Speaker
Hey, it's like us to lose it. Hey, it's all right. I'm high enough. We are smoking on the thing we lost. I think I know where it is. Oh, fantastic. So while she's doing that, I'm gonna get right into it guys. Today we wanted to talk about puppies. And if you're not a dog person, you probably will be by the end of this podcast episode.
00:00:57
Speaker
and also if you're not a dog person um really reconsider reconsider reconsider and think about what has led you to this now if you're allergic look i understand but like a lot of us are and we get over it there are just certain things you have to get over and i can get not wanting to have your own dog but like if you don't like dogs then i don't
00:01:17
Speaker
But we'll explain why. If you're someone who's not been around dogs, that's kind of the only thing I can think of. Yeah. So get around some dogs. Get some good dogs. I got a couple you can borrow. And so we wanted to start from a non-biased perspective because I'll be honest, we're biased as a bitch. Dogs are... I love them so much. I get cute aggression like a motherfucker strictly only for dogs and my husband. The way she is punching herself in the leg right now. Yeah, it's gonna hurt later.

Dogs and Anxiety Reduction

00:01:45
Speaker
So yeah, you guys, from a non-biased perspective, I think everyone should head over to Netflix if you still are subscribed to them, but I know that they upped their prices. Fuck them for that. But there's an explained episode. We all like, you know, explain the mind, explained or whatever the fuck, explained. They have a dogs explained episode and holy fuck, it is so pure and also scientific. So I'm going to read you some facts from the episode to start off. So did you know that, um,
00:02:13
Speaker
Dogs help with our anxiety. They also just in general help with physical illness, mental illness, emotional issues, and they're doing studies and they've already been proven that they assist with child or children's development. Not only that, but dogs can feel when humans are in distress, which that's kind of the whole point of like
00:02:32
Speaker
that whole special is explaining our relationship to dogs, how it came about and how it is today. And another thing that was really cool that I didn't realize was that dogs have higher levels of oxytocin, which is the love hormone, which basically means that these little dogs that were made to be, you know, human's best friend are just full of love. They're literally unconditional little love angels for humans. Yes.
00:02:55
Speaker
are you shitting me that's insane i love them and i was supposed to do more research before but all i did was pull up an article from the guardian but hey that's research right there's also a lot of research that like dogs um are okay they have a lot of co uh like rehabilitation with um dogs and
00:03:13
Speaker
it's like prison inmates and it's really like successful and it does a lot to like teach each other like both of them like love and compassion and like caring for someone else and I think that there's another Netflix series about like just dogs yeah I think they do an episode on it I think that's where I heard about it but at the very least watch that too because it's another thing about dogs
00:03:31
Speaker
And it's coming from a non-bias perspective, so now let's get biases, fuck! Okay guys, so you probably know that we have collectively the cutest three dogs in the entire world. Oh my god. About to be maybe more.
00:03:46
Speaker
So Isaiah and I recently decided that we are ready to have puppy number two. So yeah, be on the lookout, keep updated with us, you know,

Personal Dog Stories

00:03:55
Speaker
stay tuned. And I will tell you guys all about that because monkey is going to be a big brother. So for now, we'll just talk about the three that we do have and love and just kind of like their connection to us and what we love most about them. Yeah. Okay.
00:04:09
Speaker
Okay, so I'm gonna start with monkey so you guys everybody always says like oh my dog saved me and I Fucking bet I want to hear all the stories about how your dog saved you But let us since this is a podcast and I can't hear you guys um You guys are gonna listen to me explain how monkey saved me
00:04:25
Speaker
Okay, so monkey, first of all, one of my like biggest issues, one of my shadow wounds from my just childhood trauma, I think the biggest thing is my anxiety makes me feel very unworthy of love. And that's like my probably my biggest block. But monkey, holy fuck, even when I feel unworthy of love, and my anxiety is like super, super bad.
00:04:44
Speaker
Monkey fucking loves me regardless. Not only does he love me. He gives me the energy That's like he loves me and he wants me and he needs me. It's like so unconditional and it's like it doesn't matter like how Happy I am or how like sad I am like monkey is like mom. I love you so much and I'm oh You guys you don't know. I mean if you have a dog, you know how it feels But you know when Ariana Grande was like she wrote that song needy and it was like tell me how good it feels to be needed Literally get a dog
00:05:12
Speaker
Get a dog, it feels so good to be needed. All right, we hear you. Literally. And that's honest to God, the time that I used to spend spiraling, I just don't do it anymore because the time that I would be spiraling, I'm now present with my puppy because like we mentioned earlier, they have the heightened sense of knowing when a human is in distress. So whenever I'm anxious, monkey literally starts barking at me or if we're like laying down together, he'll just like lay on top of me and like literally lay on my chest.
00:05:38
Speaker
It is oh, it is so sweet so perfect And it's impossible to be sad when you have a monkey or any puppy wanting to just give you snuggles and love I feel like monkey has special like empath abilities though like monkey is an unbelievable empath of a dog Well, thank you
00:05:55
Speaker
Yeah, he's a really really good boy and like he reminds me honestly that like what matters the most in life at least for me is just like My family and like love like there was a time when monkey like he got stung by a bee when he was a puppy and When he was like a little guy, but you didn't know that's what it was. He didn't know yeah
00:06:14
Speaker
We had no idea what it was. He just started passing out and then he threw up and then he like literally fainted and was unconscious. Um, and so I freaked out and I took him to the vet. And I remember just thinking like, all I really give a fuck about in life is the fact that my husband doesn't have cancer anymore. And the fact that I want and have a healthy puppy. And like once they said like, Oh yeah, we think he was stung by a bee because we like, that's what we treated him for. And he's like feeling a lot better now. I was like, Oh my God, thank you so much. My whole life, my, like, it was like,
00:06:43
Speaker
the biggest weight was lifted off my shoulders and i think i was on like a natural high for like a month also he's in the back right now throwing his bone around like a little demon i fucking love that little demon little boys do that but yeah i just i just love him he's such a good example of like what matters most and

Dogs and Healthy Lifestyles

00:07:00
Speaker
honestly by taking care of like another thing like another living thing and watching it grow and Honestly be healthy because you're the one taking care of it and making sure that it's healthy It really inspires me to be healthy like if you're the owner I feel like it kind of just like reiterates this sense of like oh, yeah like it's not self it's not considered self-care like as a pampered treatment to take care of yourself like it's Necessary for growth so it just helps me remind myself like oh
00:07:26
Speaker
To eat better and to nurture myself and to really like make sure I'm sleeping enough and eating enough and showering and everything. He deserves that then I deserve that. Of course because how can I have to be able to thrive to be his mommy he needs so much attention and he deserves all of it. Oh I love him and also like okay he gets me outside more and it's not that I was someone who like didn't go outside before I mean like
00:07:47
Speaker
okay a little bit um but i say like yes i say it gets me out of the house but i know almost all of my neighbors now because of monkey because well he's just a hit in the neighborhood they literally stop when they walk by and people be like oh monkey people who i don't even know and they're like oh monkey and i'm like you're famous dog it literally he is this corner is like his
00:08:08
Speaker
oh he's awesome and so i'm getting to know my neighbors like more than i ever have before and i'm getting to know my neighborhood because like we go on walks like and just in places that typically you know i would drive and if it's a side street it's like well i'm not gonna drive down there why would i ever go down there like if it's not you know a general place i would go right
00:08:24
Speaker
Unless I know someone, you know what I mean? So it's really cool because I'm getting to know my neighborhood more and then I'm noticing like all the stuff that monkey notices It's so cute like monkey will notice when there is like a gorgeous fucking flower or like a bush or a tree So we'll both stop because he'll like stop to smell it and I'm like, yeah, you're right Like this bitch is incredible and yeah, he'll play with the bugs. It is so cute
00:08:47
Speaker
And I forget about bugs. He plays with bugs. I don't like bugs. So that would be hard for me. But it's cute that he. Yeah, I don't like bugs either. But I love that he plays with bugs because like I honestly like I only think about them if they're in my house and then I'm like, you'll get them out. I don't want them there. But when I see them in nature where they belong, like doing their thing and monkey plays with them, I'm like this whole little ecosystem exists and like
00:09:10
Speaker
people are out here worried about taxes, which fair, we have to do our taxes, but it reminds you, damn, bugs exist, they're doing their thing. I don't have a cool life. It's just creating bugs. Exactly, it kind of just makes things simpler. It kind of brings you into a slow living, kind of be present, be intentional mindset, which at least for me, I just need more of that.

Manifesting and Raising Puppies

00:09:32
Speaker
Yeah, I think everyone.
00:09:33
Speaker
Yeah, honestly and monkey is a prime example of manifestation He is everything Isaiah and I wanted and manifested Isaiah wanted a dog that Was unique looking he always said he didn't want like a basic looking dog He also kind of wanted something that like had husky energy like he just liked kind of not a long hair look but like um
00:09:56
Speaker
Medium hair. I don't know. He likes a hair. Yeah, he likes a very like exotic looking dog And I love all dogs. Um, but I was kind of just in the mood for like a small dog I've never had like a small dog and then I was like or I could do a dog who looks like a fully grown size big dog But he just a mini version which literally is what we got monkey is a mini German Shepherd So, yeah, it just kind of it was a really cool example of manifestation and
00:10:25
Speaker
Patience because I'm a puppy person. A lot of people like dogs like not puppies because the difference is like puppies don't know shit. You have to train them. They're not potty trained. They don't really know how to like sit, stay, don't jump, don't bark, whatever. I love puppies like the way people love babies. That's how I love puppies and something about me like I think all people who have high anxiety can kind of relate to this. It's not that we don't want to be a patient person. It's not coming from a place of like cruel intentions. It's like when you're on high anxiety like
00:10:54
Speaker
How can you be patient? You're tweaking, you're on edge. Like you just, it's impossible to be patient. But when you have a puppy, it reminds you like, oh my God, it's not that deep. I can throw away a rug. It's not that deep if you shit on it and ruin it. Like, you know what I mean? Like puppies are gonna make mistakes and like, you cannot be mad. It's a fucking puppy. They didn't know. They didn't know. They don't even know that they're alive. Literally. They don't know anything and you get to teach them and their job is just to love you. They're these little angels that just are made to love you.
00:11:23
Speaker
Oh God, I'm obsessed with them. Bitch, you better take it away. I have been talking. Hey, there's a lot to say about puppies. Okay, why don't we both take a little break and we'll do an ad.
00:11:41
Speaker
Okay, so like, it's funny because my first interactions with dogs, I didn't like them. I remember I had a, my aunt's- That's crazy. I didn't realize that. My aunt's husband had a dog spatter. It was like a pointer. And I remember like just being so afraid of this dog. And that was really like my only dog interaction. My family isn't like, I mean like my immediate family is, but like my grandparents,
00:12:02
Speaker
are not like dog type people they're very clean like they don't like they're not yeah yeah so like i was not

Spiritual Bond with Dogs

00:12:08
Speaker
like we were not like from a very like animal like house um and then like we got dogs when i got older but like i start i don't even remember transitioning from not liking dogs to liking them i just like kind of like it must have just happened like it slowly we call that maturity i matured um but yeah like it just all of a sudden i love them and i like
00:12:27
Speaker
I've always loved them. Dogs have been my dream. The only time I've ever had a puppy was when I was a kid. We got one dog, our first dog, Ernie, he was an angel. We only had him per year because he got cancer, but we just gave him the best year that we could ever give a dog because he was a rescue. We just did everything we could to give him so much joy in one year. It was a very beautiful introduction to what I think
00:12:52
Speaker
our relationship with dogs should be, like we're just there to serve them and be their everything. Oh, I love them. And then I got a puppy after that and that was really cool. But I've never really, it's funny that you say that like most people aren't puppy people and I feel like I'm not a puppy person, but not because I don't like, I don't care if they pee on me and stuff.
00:13:11
Speaker
I like it bigger. I want them bigger. I like Stella is so big to cuddle with. She's huge. I mean, I do love monkeys, so that's nothing again. But I feel like my love for dog over puppy definitely comes from size, which is just funny to me. Okay, so yeah, caring for animals I think is like...

Healing Through Dogs

00:13:33
Speaker
One of the most spiritual connections you can make especially caring for them as equals I feel like I and Danielle as well because I've seen her as a dog parent are very unique dog parents where we like and Our friend bridges very like this too. We like talk to our dogs. Um, I don't really like school I mean I scold them but it's not like I don't know Stella and Finn and I
00:13:54
Speaker
We've been through a lot together. We literally like communicate. Like we talk and like they know if they disappoint me, they know like I can communicate with a look through that, like with them, through a look with them. It might be weird, call me crazy, like whatever, but like it just like, I don't know, they're very much my equals. Like I don't, I literally in the mornings when I have to pee, I hold it until I can let them pee and then I go to the bathroom because I, as much as I can, there are some mornings where it's an emergency. Yeah.
00:14:19
Speaker
but I try to let because I know that they have to do it and they can't control it like they have no like they just oh they are perfect and they deserve everything and they are just as good as we are they just don't have the means um and also like protecting and like providing for creatures like
00:14:36
Speaker
just heals you and like the world and the world wounds I feel like that's you know we talk about like the way to like heal the collective is to like heal your immediate reality and I think having an animal and giving it like so much love is like a perfect way to show like the universe that you are capable and the world is capable of like loving and having connections with each other and with like inter animal and inter everything like you know we're all one I think it's a great way to like show that and like
00:15:02
Speaker
I don't know being with dogs and I think being with kids is like two of the most I don't know like the most authentic and creative and like aligned feelings I've ever felt because they just are like the pure embodiment of that like I think animals and kids and like dogs especially have like such a connection to like your inner child and your creativity and like your energy
00:15:24
Speaker
And they just really like drive that and they inspire me and they just like I don't know Yeah, I like look like Finn especially so my dog Finn he's like the pointer one He is the most spiritual dog like I can look in his eyes and like just see his spiritualness He will meditate with me He sits with my crystals like he'll lay on certain ones or he'll like put his nose on one He loves it when the incense come out like he the safe ones. I always check before someone comes at me um
00:15:53
Speaker
But like, you know, like he just like is the most like connected dog and he really inspires my connection because I'm like, all right, yeah, like I might be feeling anxious. Like while I'm trying to meditate, then I'll look at Finn and I'll be like, all right, Finn's really chill. Like we can just be chill and like I'll stroke him. Like he's very grounding. Like they're just. She said I'll stroke him. I'll stroke him.
00:16:12
Speaker
they're just so pure like they just have them oh the best love and like if my dogs don't like you then I know that I won't like you I have only ever seen Finn not like someone who's entered my home once and it was at like an old place it was a roommate one of my roommates friends and like that man walked into my house and Finn was like on alert and everyone was like oh my god like calm him down and I was like no no no I'm sorry but that means like he's gotta go like if Finn is not
00:16:39
Speaker
because Finn isn't like that. Like, if Finn doesn't like you, if my dogs don't like you, then that's a big sign. And they like really, like Danny said, like they sense your emotions and stuff like Finn and Stella. Oh my God, Stella especially, she's got this very like nurturing energy to her. And she like is the most like compassionate, like she knows what I'm not feeling good, even if I don't know I'm feeling good. Or like if I think like she can like sense my period even like she genuinely like
00:17:05
Speaker
just gets so like cozy and like she holds me and will like she's the like yeah she's like my little mama um and like i don't know i just think that like they bring the most like they bring exactly what you need in your life to you like whatever it is you need like fin

Rescuing Dogs and Joy

00:17:21
Speaker
Talking about manifesting dogs Finn like came into my life as a puppy But my brother actually had him and like raised him at first He rescued my brother rescued him and then he raised him because I like to think it's because I wasn't ready I couldn't have a dog yet, but it needed to be my dog yeah, and so then when I was ready and I was able to get him like and It just like the connection that Finn and I have is like crazy like he is my dog. We like
00:17:44
Speaker
He's such a mama's boy. He's my everything and he's everything I always wanted in a dog like he loves to cuddle He does exactly what I like as far as like how as much as dogs play or like he plays with himself Like I'm not huge with playing with like he's just the perfect embodiment and then like my feelings like from rescuing Stella was like
00:18:02
Speaker
the greatest thing I've ever done in my life. Like she was abused in whatever way, whatever capacity. And like to know that I got her out of that situation gives me like the most unconditional love and like patience, like forgiveness even. Like she'll do something bad and I'll know that like she, it doesn't matter if I'm mad that she does it. She's 10 times mad at herself for doing it because she's afraid that she's going to get hurt for doing it. Like she pooped in the house once
00:18:29
Speaker
and Cole and I both know that she's a very sensitive girl and again we try not to yell and so like Cole almost got mad and then he remembered like I can't yell at Stella so he was like it's okay Stella you're a good girl it's okay but she knew that like she had upset him she could tell so she like was running around peeing so upset
00:18:45
Speaker
because like having a damn panic attack but she felt bad and Cole was like and I couldn't get mad because I knew that she in her way was like I'm so sorry I'm so sorry like and he was like it just was funny because I was like it's okay you're a good girl while you're peeing on my couch like great girl
00:19:03
Speaker
It's like and Finn's just watching like you would never say that to me. No Finn's like I would be getting beat, right? Okay, not actually But yeah, no and then I just like okay, so when Danielle got a dog I shared like with her like the most magical part of having a dog is the mornings
00:19:21
Speaker
yes morning snuggles with your dogs is like waking up looking like in the face of an angel like they wake up every day just so grateful to start their day that's exactly the energy that you should like be embodying as well like and like their snuggles even when they're still sleepy they have that energy but like it's like the best snuggle yeah um so get a dog
00:19:41
Speaker
I'm over here like literally grinding my teeth like honestly because so recently I got into like a deep a deep hole on TikTok about cute aggression because I was like I need to figure out the science behind this because I'm ruining my fucking teeth and
00:19:57
Speaker
my jaw alignment because of how cute my dog is. Um, and did you guys know that the part of your brain, so, so for people who are highly empathetic, it's who this affects. Cause there are a lot of people who are like, I literally cannot fucking relate to you at all. Like my husband is one of them. He doesn't get this.
00:20:13
Speaker
but when Zaya and I first met I had to like kind of like teach him about like empathy so it makes a lot of sense Isaiah is a very um he's like emotionally in tune but he's not a natural empath whereas like I I am I think I think I also need to work on boundaries emotional boundaries but I think I'm also an empath um and so when I'm around monkey or honestly any dog I start to grind my teeth and I'm like
00:20:37
Speaker
Oh my God, I can't fucking handle it. You're a fucking dog. I could squeeze you so hard. Um, yes, it's insane. And it's because, so for people who are like me, it's, um, it's literally because our brain cannot handle or like compute the level of cuteness. So it tries to balance it out by like, um, something that's kind of opposite of that. And it happens to be, it happens to be right next to the part of our brain where we deal with frustration and aggression.
00:21:03
Speaker
So that part starts to activate because our brain literally cannot handle the level of cute going on.
00:21:10
Speaker
Wow, you're the smartest podcast that there ever was. I know you guys didn't know how many things you're gonna lie in today. I know I just went on a like a deep spiral on TikTok about this. That's insane. Mm hmm. So I just can't process. I mean, we all knew that, but it's like when you love you love whatever it could be a baby. It could be for me. It's my husband as well. But when you like love and think that they're just so fucking cute that you start like like guys, I could. Yeah, my jaw is fucked. My teeth need a break. My teeth need a break.
00:21:39
Speaker
Well, we should probably go get high then. Yeah, but if in case you wanted to know what the secret to happiness was, it's puppies. Stay high. Bye.
