23: How Not Doing Your Best Makes You More Confident & Secure (Plus Life Update In The Season Of The Unknown)

Most high achieving women have the standard of excellence and greatness, and while that's beautiful and empowering to want to "be the best", it can lead to overthinking, perfectionism, and not feeling like you are enough or know enough in the process of achieving your goals. It ends up creating stagnancy and leaves you in "inaction" vs creating momentum that lasts.

In this episode i share personal life updates/lessons that help support this idea of how you are the best and even more confident/secure by not doing your best. Life Update and Pursuing Passion

But anyways, before we get into that, I do want to give you guys ah like a life update on what's going on so that the message for today and what we're going to talk about today about like how not doing your best makes you more confident and more secure. It's going to make more sense.

But essentially, if you have not listened to like a couple previous episodes, actually, I feel like it was my very first episode that i created. go listen to that to give you guys some context. But if you have, then you already know that I had left my tattoo business. I was doing stretch mark and scar tattooing. I had that business for two years before I left it last year in June of 2025. And so technically for me, July is when I actually started the podcast around that time. And I just started jumping right into my sole purpose. For me, really, it's the podcast and building a personal brand and really helping women just come home to themselves and do it in a fun and feminine way while still achieving all of their goals and their dreams. But obviously allowing the process to be fun, healing their self-image, healing everything that holds them back.

So i left that business and I was easily making six figures in that business, barely working, not even part-time. Like I was literally making 10K a month, working like 10 hours a week. It was super high ticket.

It was amazing, but I knew deep down and intuitively I knew that like it was just not in alignment with me anymore. Like I was not having fun. The money was not moneying for me anymore. That's when you know when you start feeling that way, even though like you're provided for, you're taken care of, like everything's great. Like literally i felt so blessed even having that business.

I just knew something was off. I was not happy. No amount of money would change that. And so I knew that it was time for me to leave. And I also knew that it was time for me to step into the thing that I've actually been like dreaming and talking about. If you've been following me on social media for like couple years now, i was like, I want to create a podcast. I know it's for me. And I held off of it because I just didn't think I knew enough or I just didn't think that I was capable of having a podcast and having people listening to me. And just because I thought that I didn't heal enough or i haven't done enough to prove to people that why they should listen to me and learn from me and all of that stuff.

Financial Decisions and Emotional Well-being

So recently, I have had trouble sleeping. And usually I've never really had trouble sleeping. Like literally I'd be hibernating. Like your girl is a bear. i literally like, I'm like a heavy sleeper. And like, yeah, even though I have so much energy during the day, I like make sure it's all fucking utilized to the best of my ability. And then I knocked the fuck out. So I knew something was up and it was really just like this feeling of hypervigilance and alertness. And I feel like I've had this feeling before. i just wasn't so aware of it as I am now. And it wasn't until I was like experiencing it like every night and like my mind would just not shut the fuck up. Like I'm there are literally my body's like relaxed. I'm laying down. I've done everything to relax myself. I've drank the chamomile tea.

I've ah meditated. I've done my hypnosis stuff like my subconscious bewiring stuff. I did my little self-care stuff. Like I wind the fuck down um on my phones on a sleep mode, you know, and still my mind is just like a fucking monkey. Like, like it's just going at it. And I was like, what the fuck? I need to do something about this because not being able to sleep and having quality sleep on top of that. Yes, it really does fuck with you. And this is why I'm like, yeah, health.

and If you've been following me again for a while, you know i am a health nut freak, period. I love health because I know how important it is. like It literally makes or breaks everything that you want in your life because you take you with you everywhere you go.

like Your body is always with you and it is also the essence of your feminine energy because the feminine is in the body, not the mind. so I was just very like hyper um alert and like hyper vigilant. And when I intuitively looked in and I was like channeling for myself and I was like, okay, what the fuck is going on? I realized that holy shit, this is a what I call it a reflection, which is basically um whatever pops up in the area of your life, like issue that you're dealing with. It just means that you're emotionally imbalanced. You have an emotional root cause, like something that's happening and limiting belief, as everyone would call it in another area of life that is coming from where it like started. And it's like popping up in your high value life, like high value areas of your life, which for me is physical is one of them. to get your attention and be like, hey, you're imbalanced. You're not technically whole.

So I realized that it was coming from my finance area of life. Like, go figure, girl, go figure. Of course, it's coming from your finance area of life because you literally fucking cut off your income like all the way. I literally went cold turkey from six figures, shut down the business. Obviously, I did have a plan to you know, run ads, because that's something that I did to help with the success of the old business is run ads to like get more people in and all that. So I as essentially like created a um ah marketing like to teach other beauty business owners, like how to market themselves through ads and like get more customers and get more

Marketing Courses and Business Shift

leads in. So I created a whole Facebook marketing course, like a mini course on it. It was like a low ticket digital product funnel thing.

and knew it was going to work because like that's obviously what's working really great for ads nowadays. But anyways, I have been at it with ads. OK, so first of all, cut my money off, cut my money supply off completely.

Now I'm also circulating money is what I call circulating is like spending. I just don't say that word anymore. So I'm circulating money, like literally ads like $50 to $100 a day kind of ads.

It's a lot, you know what i mean? And even though I know that I have the capacity, like I know I can make shit work if I really want to. I started to really feel it, not in the beginning, but recently. Because time, having a lot of time will tell you space and time. So space and time will really tell you like,

whether you really are committed or if this is really for you or not. So for me, it's been since July of 2025. I have not really made much income at all. And i do have money in the bank, but I don't take that for granted. You know what I mean? And so I was like, okay, I definitely need to do something about the situation because I'm not feeling as safe as I was before. And this is where people usually kind of fuck up, I guess I would say in a way of oh shit, I need to go get a job right now and I'm not sleeping. So I need to like go get some melatonin and go to the doctor or something. And they do the physical things because they think that it's, that's the issue, but it's deeper than that. There is an emotional imbalance coming from another area of your life. And so you need to address that, the limiting belief. So for me, it was around money and it was really just around me not feeling safe,

to like not really safe and trusting money to show up for me. And like I was feeling like anxious around the money. And it's not like I did not like, you know, down level my life. Like i know a lot of people when they like do stuff like this or when they lose a job or whatever, they downsize their life. And it's like, if anything, I've upgraded my life. Like I've invested into a chiropractor working on my posture. I'm still like I'm upgrading the foods. Like now I only eat shop at Whole Foods and Sprouts and I eat premium foods.

um And so i like that hasn't changed for me, but it was like I'm so used to and I was so used to having that certain level of baseline of like lifestyle of, yeah I make high ticket income, so like I also circulate my money and invest in things. And it was like I found myself...

Reflection and Clarity

You know, like I cannot have this continue to go on because it was taking a lot of my mental space as well from like my, you know, my soul pool, like which is my purpose of like what I want to do, my podcast and um my personal brand. And so I was like, okay, and this is the biggest thing that people don't do. And it's important for you to do is to take a step back, create some space for yourself,

And just be, like be with your body. Your body tells you every fucking thing. It's be with your body. And I know a lot of people are disconnected from their body. And so obviously when you are, you're disconnected from your feminine energy. But just like take that space, breathe, get in nature. Like just breathe.

Don't even talk to people. People like usually go to people for advice and talk to people. No, you need to talk to yourself. You need to reconnect with yourself. So be, and then I was like, okay, what is it that I need?

to give to myself? What is one tiny step? I don't need to know everything that I need to do ASAP, like by tomorrow. What is one step that I could take to give myself even a tiny bit of clarity? So I actually booked an intuitive read with one of my girls and we're going to dig in, but I'm also going to, you know, sit with myself and it actually do the read myself, like intuit myself channel myself because even no matter what people say, I'm, I am the motherfucking authority. Like I'm still going to trust myself and what feels best for me, but it's just nice to have that little support system. So yeah, that's like where I'm at right now.

I'm figuring out my cashflow situation. And I also had to, will I identified the belief and I had to, um I created a new belief around that belief to like shift it.

And that's another thing too, is that like, wow, okay, my relationship with money is coming up in a different way. So instead of me just going straight up to go make money, no, let me shift how I feel around money and feeling safe around money, trusting in money and seeing how it's growing every day. That's actually a really key um belief that you want to have if you want to like, continue to attract more abundance is noticing how your money is growing.

And so how am I like, how am I able to let' just like get that like going for my subconscious mind for my rewiring so that it changes the way I think, the way that I move the way that I show up, right, and then taking aligned action from that place. So that's where I'm at right now.

So we are going there's there's a lot that I'm like hearing from a lot of people that I know and around like social media and like, what's the best way to actually build your business. And I'm still on a fucking mission here to build my business in a way that feels so magnetic, so good, where, you We are doing the opposite here. And a lot of the lessons that I'm learning is literally teaching me the opposite of how rest and ease is the fucking foundation, is the key to build your business and how you don't need to be so hypervigilant, so alert and put in so effort or think you need to put in, continue putting in effort to continue to grow.

Okay. So this concept that I'm going to be sharing with you guys came from a conversation that I was having with a friend recently. And she was telling me about this book around it. The book is called um Don't Do Your Best, which but the moment I heard it, I was like, who?

I'm going to probably get it because I do want to check it out. But I did want to share some of the essence of what she was telling me. And you know when you have those moments when you're just like,

You've been hearing the same shit for so long. Like we're we're all learning the same shit technically in the world. Like a lot of the information is recycled, right? Like we constantly keep hearing the same things. But it's the way that someone says something and the way that it's explained to you that just like gives you a fucking aha moment. Or maybe you were just actually a vibrational match as well to receive it.

I do feel like both was the case for me because the moment I heard it, I was like, no, this is the motherfucking thing. Like this is the thing that's going to change the way that I show up and like everything. It was so juicy, so good. And I house was like, I have to share this with my people here because guys, we are here. If you're here, you are definitely, you know, a high achiever woman.

You have big dreams, big goals, and you're not here to fucking settle. We're not here to settle, but we're also not here to burn ourselves out to the ground. We're here to do things in a feminine, fun, soft way and still get what the fuck we want by not having to be the most or do the most and aka even do your best and be your best right the essence of this topic and one of the things that I noticed when it comes to this essence of greatness right like this essence of our natural innate desire to achieve greatness to be great at what we do and it's okay having that by the way like I think that's a fucking amazing and we should celebrate that but we also it's important to also be aware of the dark side to that as well And the dark side to that is comes from this essence of not feeling enough, and not feeling like you're doing enough. And that is also what you experience, right? Because again, the universe has to be in balance. So you're going to experience both sides to things, it's important to be aware of both sides to things. So I've noticed this enoughness piece that has continuously came up a lot of women struggle with enoughness, especially if you're a high achiever.

And so The things that I found really fascinating that were the essence of what the book was talking about was number one is realizing that who you are today, okay, not tomorrow, not yesterday, but today in the present moment is more than enough to do whatever it is that you want to do.

Because it's only when you are you, authentically you, in this very moment, expressing whatever's coming through for you is best received from people that are meant to receive from you. But it is the only thing that actually exists at this very moment.

And oftentimes when we are not allowing ourselves to be our authentic selves and to just show up as we are, as enough as we are, it's coming from a place of perfectionism and it's coming from a place of like,

you know I don't know enough. I'm not smart enough. I didn't do enough. like Is that even valuable enough? Especially if you have a business, it's like you want to be the best of the best, but you're like, did I deliver enough? like Is this going to actually make like help somebody with a transformation? It's not your fucking job. It's not your job. The transformation is actually a byproduct of you being your authentic self. I cannot tell you how many times I've had women, friends, like strangers, people just constantly fucking tell me, Darsh, what you said was so valuable. It was so like such a game changer. And it's like, I didn't even I wasn't even thinking like I wasn't even trying to like give you value. I was just saying what's coming through to me. And I was just speaking from the heart, like even right now, like I'm, I'm literally just fucking having a conversation like I'm having conversation with a friend and be like, girl, listen, like and sometimes it's those those are the moments where we are accessing our most innate genius like yumminess like authenticity like just it's funny how i said that but whatever like we are accessing our most authentic genius badass selves in that moment when we are not actually thinking about how we're showing up how things are landing for people

And all of this like need to have it perfect to get it done perfectly, it just puts pressure on ourselves like unnecessarily. And then it makes us disconnect from ourselves from who we truly are and also disconnect from ease and flow, like our feminine essence of who we are, our actual fucking power. And so that also makes you not feel as confident and as secure when you're like overthinking in your head and you're like, is this actually the best though? Another thing is I also feel like action, taking action, especially if you have been like wounded in your masculine, right? What I mean by that is if you have been in your masculine energy for so long, like I have too,

in my whole fucking life, and then we start learning about feminine energy, and we start moving towards that, right? Then you end up in another, the other side of the fucking pendulum, where you're like, no more, bitch. I'm only taking aligned action.

And if I don't feel like it, I'm not fucking doing it. And I'm guilty of this, because I've like found myself like being that way. But it's like, There's a difference between taking aligned action versus just forcing yourself into taking action because sometimes aligned action doesn't feel so like sparkly and exciting, right?

Like, that's okay. Like, as long as you know that this is what's necessary for me. Like this is what feels right for me in my body. That's how you know. It's not about like, do I feel like this doing this or not? Like, because then we get in our heads. If you actually just had the first thought of wanting to do it, fucking do it Because I feel like taking action has then become such a dirty word.

especially if you've been through this, where it's like you've been so burnt out where it's like you just don't want to take action unless it's like delivering an outcome or it's like the right action, right? And instead, it can really just be like the relationship that you have with action can be that you're, you know, you're moving from a place of whatever is present within you, knowing that that is enough as it is. that is enough to keep moving you forward in life.

Brain Dumping and Authentic Expression

It's called the garbage method. And I thought the method name was really funny, but I was like, oh yeah, I've done this before. But it's literally just brain dumping. So it's the process of whether you're brain dumping on a journal or on a Google Doc or something or voice noting like me because, you know, your girl loves to talk.

But it's just the essence of just getting it out. Whatever you have within you that you want to say. Sometimes I'll even like open up ah ah my TikTok. And I'll like literally start pressing record. And I'll just start talking. And this is actually something that I did very much in the beginning, after being out of it for so long, to just start getting practicing myself, like getting in front of the camera, talking again, saying what it is that I want to say and talking about all these things that I'm passionate about that I've been learning about.

And it's just getting whatever it is out of my head and into the fucking thing. And I will notice that the videos that actually do really, really well, not that I'm expecting them to, or the content in the videos, like they literally are the ones where I was literally not thinking like I was. It's kind of like you end up channeling what's coming through you and flowing through you. I was literally just in the moment and just showing up in the way that I want it to.

And that is when it's fully received because you are being your authentic self. You're not overthinking the whole process and you're not getting in your head, which is then what's keeping you stuck from doing the things that you want to do.

so the overall goal to put this like really in a nutshell for you guys the overall goal is to really detach from the outcomes and the expectations that you put within yourself and on the things that you desire to experience make the goal to not do your best because when you make the goal to not do your best you are not afraid of making any mistakes and in fact When you make mistakes, it's fun. The process is fun for you. You end up actually growing faster, growing more. You end up getting to where you want to be way more in a fun way and way faster, of course. But you really have this like lightness within you when you're operating from that place and you're not putting so much pressure on yourself. You're actually enjoying the journey, which is the whole fucking point of life anyways.

it becomes easier for you to then take action because you're just gonna it's just going to be action, action. like is You're just going to keep showing up as your confident, authentic, secure self. You just feel really, really good about everything that you do. you feel like it's enough. You feel like you've done enough.

And having that in your, what I call your energy field, your EMF field, is so powerful. So it's like, how can I make it fun by not doing my best? Because you end up having fun. You end up really just being fully present in the moment showing up as yourself.

The last piece is I want to talk about what confidence really means to me and what it really is because It is something that I feel like I've naturally have embodied within myself, but I also know when it is that I'm not being confident and I can tell the difference by the awareness that I have cultivated for myself.

First of all, what helps me become more confident is by not actually giving a fuck. So when i really don't give a fuck and I'm really just there to like show up and have fun, which is like literally the basis of my life is just to have more fun.

But literally, like I'm showing up to have more fun. I'm, you know, curious about what it is that I'm capable of And coming from that place of curiosity and fun is when I'm the most fucking confident and secure about myself, even when I'm learning something new. And I, you know, make mistakes or whatever. I'm like, Oh my god, that was so fun. Because I was able to trust myself, which I feel like for me, confidence really means the ability to trust yourself in a way where you know, you got you you trust in your abilities, you trust in

You know that you're capable of whatever you set your mind to because you're there to really show up for yourself. You're going to have fun with it. And even if you mess up or make a mistake. you lived for that experience.

And when I make it about the experience for myself, like I truly allow myself to have fun. And then I truly become more confident because experience is your best teacher, baby. Experience is your best fucking teacher.

Life has been the biggest, best teacher for me in my life. You also then realize like how special and unique you are when you allow yourself to have more fun. You get to learn more about yourself. A lot of people talk about Authenticity and I'm like, do we ever get to fully know who the hell we are in the present moment? Because I feel like who we are changes over time, right? And also, who we are changes over time based on the experiences that we have. that we experience, which gives us feedback to show us what we prefer and what we don't prefer. And so getting to know yourself and showing up as your authentic self is in a present by present moment basis. It's literally what you live out every single day.

And that's how you truly become confident within yourself is because you honor yourself. You show up as yourself and you don't give a fuck because you're not going to do your best, right? Like you just are here to have fun and do you. And yes, even in business, like that is the whole point. Like people work with you because of who you are. It's not because of what you do, even though there is a piece to that. It's like,

They're going to still work with you and choose you because you choose you. It's not about how much you know. It's about what do you have for me in the present moment? Because people will people need that from you.

So I just think that it's time for us to expand ourselves and our mind and our perspective around like what value is because people invest in so many different types of value out there.
