Kels is here and has a challenge for you! Don't worry she is doing it too. One week, no TV, no read OF ANY KIND, no outside influences. One week to play with ourselves and reconnect to our inner child, our inner soul, find out who we truly are on our own. Having those meaningful conversations with a friend, play with paints in the backyard, write a story, make a funny video! This week is about YOUR content, YOUR creations. It's going to be beautiful.

Introduction to a Spiritual Journey

Speaker
Welcome to Awaken Big, an educational, high vibrational, mystical, spiritual pot, I'm sorry, podcast from one girl, no joint, and a journey to awaken what's inside all of us. In the words of the wise was Khalifa, let's roll something and get the day started. And as usual, as it has been the past couple of months since it's just me, Kelce, please roll two, smoke one for me.

Celebration and Gratitude

00:00:23
Speaker
Um, hello, welcome back. We took a week off because I had my baby shower.
00:00:29
Speaker
Danny was out here visiting. We had all the intentions of recording an episode together while she was here. And then we just were having like too much fun slash we're too busy. But it was so incredible to see her again. It had been definitely the longest we'd ever gone without seeing each other. And I'm just like so grateful for her.
00:00:53
Speaker
And for the friendships that I have and all the people that came and either came in person and showed us how much they loved us and they love our baby or sent us stuff or even just reached out and like texted and saying that they love us. It really is incredibly powerful when you move away from where you have like a really strong support system to somewhere where you're alone to then
00:01:18
Speaker
be reminded how much you have as far as beautiful souls in your life and caring souls in your life. And I was just in awe of the group that I have accumulated of people, but not even just people, like human people, like the dogs, the everything in my life.

Creative Exploration with Dr. Rachel Turlop

00:01:38
Speaker
I'm so grateful for every single one of them, everyone here who's listening, everyone who has ever touched my life, but especially those who pour in the inspiration and the love into my life that keep me going. Like this weekend, it was such a reminder of those feelings and just how much I have, I guess. I don't know if I mentioned this my last episode, but I have been going through
00:02:06
Speaker
kind of like a course, like a class with Dr. Rachel Turlop. If you remember, she's the one who did our introduction to Reiki last year, that episode. And she has been doing this course based on the book, The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. We are on week four right now, and it's a 12-week course. It has been incredibly eye-opening, inspirational to take this look at myself, my creative self, and then also do it
00:02:37
Speaker
um, with a spiritual kind of backbone, because it's, it's a spiritual path to higher creativity. Like that is what the book is. Um, which is something that I just had never really, truly thought of putting together. And it has inspired this episode because for this week, I, the, one of the challenges, I guess, cause you know how much I love that word. One of the challenges, um, of what we have to do is called a reading deprivation.
00:03:08
Speaker
So that means no reading at all. Uh, I don't know if I've mentioned this to you guys. I have read like 30 books already this year. I've been on a reading frenzy. Um, but it also means like no reading of any kind, no content intake, really. So like no TV, no, um, no reading, no like scrolling. We were joking about like threads as a new thing now. And like, I can't read on threads. I can't read posts on Instagram. I can't, it's not reading. It's taking that entire, um,
00:03:38
Speaker
medium of absorbing stuff and removing it from your life for a week. So I am a little nervous, but I also think it's going to be incredibly fun because the idea behind it is that when you take away all other external influences, you're just alone. You're alone with your thoughts. You're alone
00:04:03
Speaker
with what you want to do. You're alone with your space. You're alone with your things. And I think it's kind of like a way to find the true, the real you.

Embracing Innate Creativity

00:04:15
Speaker
What is it that I like doing? What is it that I can do even? So we've been coming up with plans of what we were going to do for this week to get through. And I've decided I'm going to make my nursery priority one. That's what I'm going to do this week.
00:04:30
Speaker
organize and decorate and get my nursery together. And then, um, another thing I want to do, I was talking about how I've been reading a lot of books and I was talking about how they've been a lot of like specifically like horror thriller novels. Like I've just been really into that. I have been just devouring everything by freedom McFadden, like just every, every thriller book that is out there that's on Kindle unlimited so I can get it for free. Um, but so I was like, Oh my God, like I don't know what I'm going to do.
00:05:01
Speaker
And Kalyn, who's one of the girls in the group, she's incredible. I'm gonna have to link her art. She's a beautiful artist, a beautiful human, also an Aquarius like me. She was like, you're just gonna have to write then. And so I was like, oh my God, yeah, I have to write. So like another thing I'm doing for myself this week. So I have the nursery and then I'm gonna write a short story and I'm gonna share it with them next week. And I'm doing that with no fear of judgment, no fear of anything because it's just,
00:05:29
Speaker
something I'm trying, I'm just gonna put it out there, like I'm just, I'm gonna do it. I think that's another cool thing about this is so much of our time is spent distracted. Even though I love books and I'm not saying reading a book is a waste of time, but it is a distraction from myself and from what I truly want to do and my ability to create things. Just like watching TV, just like so many things that we do, just like social media, while they all have incredible, powerful purposes,
00:05:58
Speaker
they also kind of hinder us and hinder our ability to deeply, deeply connect with ourselves. Part of this book in this class, this course, whatever you want to call it, is finding and discovering and recovering your creative self. And I'm realizing how much of my creative self I have not only like shoved down and tried to ignore, but that I've
00:06:24
Speaker
told myself I'm not worthy of, like I'm not, I'm not good enough or I can't do this or it's too late. Um, it's not, it's never too late. I, if I had done more research before this episode, before I hit record, I would be telling you all kinds of actors and actresses and writers who didn't do their first thing until they were in their fifties, but there's tons of them. And like, it's so enlightening to realize that we are
00:06:51
Speaker
Creatives, every single person out there, our innate goal is to be creative, to do something. For instance, since the beginning of time, that's what humans have been doing. That's why we have artwork painted on cave walls. I feel like a huge piece of the human, what's the word? The human something, I don't know.
00:07:13
Speaker
is storytelling. That is just in our nature to tell stories and that has been done literally since the beginning of time. We have been passing down stories and we have been sharing while some of them might be true, but there's also the creative aspect to it. Even the idea of religion is a creative thing.
00:07:35
Speaker
I hope you know, I'm saying that with love. But I just mean like, right, like it's a creative story to teach things. And we do that, like, we were able to do that and find ways. But I feel like lately, in society, we've been kind of like diminishing that or at least telling people that it's something that's only for some people. Well, they can do that because they're really great at it, or they've been doing it forever, they whatever, like,
00:08:01
Speaker
giving it, we're giving that power to other people and forgetting that that power is within us. I am not the greatest artist of all time as far as like sketching and drawing. I know that. And that's why since I started this process of finding and discovering and recovering my creative self, I've made it a point to draw more because
00:08:29
Speaker
It's, I'm constantly being told in this book that like, remember that you can do this and it doesn't have to be perfect and do it and then don't look at it with judgment. And I forget that we can do that. We can remove our judgmental eye. We can stop ourselves from criticizing ourselves. And it's when it's just for you.
00:08:47
Speaker
then there's no other threats. The only person will be you to criticize it, to make yourself feel belittled, and you can silence yourself. You can stop that. You can rewire that and stop that from being a problem, and that's what I've been doing. I've been just drawing birds. I haven't shown a single soul, and I love them. I think they're beautiful. I think I'm really impressed with myself, and it's not for anyone but me.
00:09:15
Speaker
This is an episode where I am encouraging you to join me. It doesn't have to be this week, but at some point to take a week and spend time with yourself without influences, without any influence. So right, no videos, no TV, no reading, no nothing. Just any content that you're enjoying will be your own creation.

Challenge of Personal Growth and Creativity

00:09:39
Speaker
So whether it be painting, whether it be filming yourself, whether it be writing, whether it be
00:09:45
Speaker
I don't know, even just moving your body, dancing. That's what we're going to do. This is a week of creation. This is not a week of consumption. And I think it's going to be really cool. I'm really excited to see how I feel throughout it and how it changes me because I really, I have a feeling that it is going to be kind of a life altering week. Like it's going to be one of those things that I'm going to remember.
00:10:12
Speaker
be grateful that I did this especially on the spiritual journey to give myself time. One of the, I think it was the second week was all about defining yourself like who am I and I found it so crazy how hard it was for me to like do that like define myself was hard like who am I right? Who am I? What am I? And like you come up with all of these things and they're all
00:10:37
Speaker
accurate. They all are who I am. But then I'm also like, but do I really, you know, you second guess it. And you're like, is this really me? Or is my more this whatever. And so I'm excited to see how to compare myself how I defined myself two weeks ago to how I'm going to define myself. And even just like the things that I like after I finish and complete this week of
00:10:59
Speaker
the reading deprivation. So yeah, this is just an invitation. I would love for you to join me and give yourself a week of no influences. Give yourself a week of just spending time with yourself, thinking your thoughts, enjoying them, knowing that they are just thoughts, however, allowing yourself to enjoy and learn from them. I think it's gonna be really cool. I think I'm gonna learn a lot, like I said, about myself, about myself,
00:11:28
Speaker
myself and my interrelations with myself, but also how I interact with other people, all of it. I think it's going to be a really, really exciting experiment to do this. And so it's one week.
00:11:43
Speaker
No reading and that's all kinds of reading. That's all kinds of like content consumption. We did decide that we can listen to music and I, yeah, I would go crazy, but I'm going to try and limit my music with lyrics. I'm going to try and stick to like, you know, very like instrumental and stuff so that I don't have that distraction. Um, and then there's just some things that like, you know, at the beginning of the week, try writing 10 things that you love.
00:12:10
Speaker
And then at the end of the week, write 10 things you love and see if those match, see if they change. Yeah, yeah, I think this would be really cool. Obviously, I'm a little bit nervous. Like I said, I've been on a huge reading binge. So like, I'm halfway through a book, I've allowed myself, I get to finish it tonight. I'm gonna do that.
00:12:28
Speaker
But then no reading. And I'm like, guys, I'm asking you for your help. Help psych me up for this. Like, we got this. We're going to do this and it's going to be awesome. But it's not going to be easy. And I'm kind of excited about that, about it not being easy. Because life is hard work. You have to do the hard stuff to really
00:12:47
Speaker
grow and flourish and become your truest self. And so I'm excited to do that. Okay. Well, try not to be influenced by anything and stay high. Bye.
