March 28, 2025 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year

Daily Bible Reading with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching (Audio only)

7 Plays22 days ago

Today we will finish the section of Psalms entitled Songs about Good and  Bad. We will read Psalm 84, Psalm 90, Psalm 92, Psalm 112, and Psalm  115. In Psalm 84 we will recognize lyrics from a familiar song, being  reminded that one day in God's house is better than a thousand  elsewhere! In Psalm 90, written by Moses, we will be reminded that God's  name is I AM. He has always existed. He has no end and no beginning,  whereas our years are numbered, and so we will pray for God to teach us  to use our years doing what is right. In Psalm 92 we will be assured  that those who do what is right will continue to bear good fruit even  they are old!  In Psalm 112 we will see that despite the Psalms being  written thousands of years ago, they are just as relevant and applicable  to us today, because people are still people and good values never  change! In Psalm 115 we will talk about how idols have no life, but our  God does! People have seen Jesus and therefore have seen the Father! We  will be reminded of how God went before His people in the desert for 40  year, never leaving them, always showing his presence with them in the  cloud. We will rejoice that God is always with us because we have His  Holy Spirit! We will remember how Moses' face shone after being in God's  presence! No idol can do any of that! Our God is REAL, while idols are  nothing but man made things that can do NOTHING!

Introduction and Bible Reading

00:00:02
Speaker
Happy Friday everybody! Today is March 28th and it is 2025 and you are with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching and we're here for our daily Bible reading.
00:00:16
Speaker
You know what book we're reading through. We are reading through the Day by Day Kids Bible and it's been written by who? That's right, Karen Henley.
00:00:28
Speaker
We are ready to take out our calendar as well. And if you have that calendar out and you got your sticker ready, let's put them on there because you're about to hear the Bible today.
00:00:41
Speaker
Thank you so much for being here with me, whether you are listening on your favorite podcast or whether you are watching the video somewhere. I'm so glad that you're here participating in this event.

Refrigerator Troubles

00:00:53
Speaker
For those of you keeping track with my refrigerator saga, I still do not have a refrigerator. My refrigerator ended up not working and after we put in the new parts, and I couldn't even get it to go into diagnostic mode, if you remember, or if you missed that day. I'll just give you a short synopsis.
00:01:13
Speaker
and I ended up saying, okay, God, if I can't put it into diagnostic mode and the parts that we bought are not working, I guess we're supposed to get a new refrigerator. So I ended up ordering a refrigerator and had difficulty then because I thought I had a counter depth.
00:01:31
Speaker
I thought I had a standard depth refrigerator because it sticks out further than my counter, which made sense, right? But apparently not. So it turns out that I actually have a counter-depth current refrigerator, and that's why it was able to get through my front door when we moved in.
00:01:47
Speaker
So then I was like, well, how do I get it through the front door? And it turned out to be the answer is, is the delivery people need to take the doors off of the refrigerator to get it in my front door.
00:02:00
Speaker
So I had a new refrigerator scheduled for delivery for yesterday and it did not happen.

Rescheduling and Priorities

00:02:06
Speaker
They got all the way to my driveway and I have a private drive down a little bit of a dirt road.
00:02:14
Speaker
And they decided, oh, we can't make it down that road. There's a power line that hangs kind of low and our truck won't make it. So they just left. And then somebody called me to say, oh, they're unable to complete the delivery and they've left.
00:02:28
Speaker
And I was like, what? it said they were on their way and they were just going to be here. So that's how it worked. That was yesterday. So they could not reschedule me for today because it was too late in the day by this time.
00:02:44
Speaker
So I was waiting all day today to receive my delivery window for Saturday. And ah initially when they you schedule, you only get 12 hour window. So from 8 a.m. m to 8 p.m.
00:02:58
Speaker
And I attend church on Saturday at 10 a.m. So I'm really trying to prioritize here and seek first the kingdom of God before I seek my refrigerator. And I was really hoping to try to get a delivery date, that a time that was after um two o'clock, so I had time to get home.
00:03:18
Speaker
In the meantime, I have a thermometer in my refrigerator and which is not working

Patience and God's Timing

00:03:24
Speaker
at all anymore. So I don't put any food in there anymore. I put it in the freezer and ah My freezer is up to 50 degrees today.
00:03:32
Speaker
So ah God is never in a hurry. His timing is just so so I've been trying very hard to be patient and ah Yeah, I've just been trying very hard to be patient.
00:03:49
Speaker
Everything I own is defrosting in there. ah Since it's 50 degrees now, it was it was about, let's see, I think it was like 35 degrees this morning when I left in the freezer.
00:04:01
Speaker
And now when I got home, and I left at like three o'clock in the afternoon. So from three o'clock in the afternoon till about 9.30 at night, it's now gone from 35 50. ah thirty five to fifty
00:04:15
Speaker
So that's a little disconcerting. So I'm really hoping they get here quickly tomorrow from my 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. delivery time.
00:04:28
Speaker
And it was really interesting because I kept waiting and waiting for my my delivery window to be assigned. And i was talking to my husband on the phone. And ah I started to get the text messages like I had received on Thursday or on Wednesday saying, ah we have your delivery scheduled for Saturday. Is this still available?
00:04:47
Speaker
was like, yes, yes, yes. And they said, okay, we'll send you your and it's all automated. So if you try to ask any questions, you don't actually get a live person. So, i I was waiting. They said they the next automated message that came through said, okay, later tonight, we will text you your delivery window.
00:05:08
Speaker
So the last time this had happened, it happened within about an hour. So I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. And it was, now it was like four o'clock and five o'clock and 5.30. And then it was like, it was almost, you know, so was it was getting late. It was like 5.30.
00:05:27
Speaker
And I still hadn't received any call or any message. So I called again. i was really getting nervous and anxious that something was going to happen and they weren't going to be able to get me a delivery window because it was Friday and I hadn't received any messages yet.
00:05:43
Speaker
So i I kept calling. ah earlier today to try to get this information and they weren't doing it yet. So I called again and ah they still couldn't help me.
00:05:56
Speaker
So I finally said, okay, God, when things are not going the way I would like for them to go, it's usually because I'm trying to be too much in control.
00:06:08
Speaker
And i think you are telling me that I am not in control here and it will happen.

Reflection on Psalms

00:06:14
Speaker
when it happens, according to your time. And as soon as I made that um submission, I kid you not, it was, it was like right after i came to that, all of a sudden my phone rings and it's the delivery company and they call to give me my four hour window, which is between two and six.
00:06:40
Speaker
So I was just like, maybe God was ready waiting for me to submit all day. and And I hadn't submitted ah to being in his timing. And I was trying to be patient, but I was still frustrated because I wasn't in control. And I was trying to get this time.
00:06:56
Speaker
And i was more I was just waiting impatiently. i really i was While I was thinking I was being patient, I was really being impatient. And it wasn't until I finally said, okay, it will be what you will have me have.
00:07:10
Speaker
And this usually happens when I am trying to be too much in control and trying to take charge and have everything needs to go this way, this way, this way, this way, this way, this way.
00:07:21
Speaker
So I wanted to share that with you, that um that's what it looks like and when you feel like everything is going ah not your way. It could very well be because you're trying too hard for things to go your way.
00:07:37
Speaker
And our God says, it's not your way. It's my will be done. So as soon as I submitted to that, I got my time window. And I can't guarantee that that's the way it would have always been. It's kind of like we say if we want the fastest way to get our food to come at the restaurant, we get up to go to the bathroom and then it'll come.
00:07:57
Speaker
It seems like things work out that way too. So in this case, and and that tends to happen is that when when I finally submit to God and say that I understand things are not going my way because I'm trying to be too much in charge of but of what's going on and how things happen in my days.
00:08:17
Speaker
And then that's when things start to actually happen. Because they're God's will, not mine. So thank you for listening. i wanted that to be and a little bit of encouragement and a little bit of shedding the light there and so that you could be encouraged and to see how things work and ah in in a real person's life.
00:08:39
Speaker
and And some people actually were asking about my refrigerator. So I thought I would share that. So I make sure to give my refrigerator updates since I have some ah participants here who are anxiously waiting to hear if I get my refrigerator.
00:08:57
Speaker
So thank you so much for your care and your concern in asking me about my refrigerator.
00:09:04
Speaker
We are reading through the Psalms. And we are going to head into our last section of this section of Psalms. This section of Psalms we've been reading is entitled Songs About Good and Bad.
00:09:18
Speaker
And it's comparing good people who follow God to people who don't.
00:09:27
Speaker
And this is our last set of Psalms in this section. So we have, ah it's kind of long. There's a couple of different psalms. We have one, two, three, four, five psalms to- tonight.
00:09:41
Speaker
So this will probably end up being a longer video or a longer audio, depending on how you are participating.
00:09:49
Speaker
Especially with my refrigerator story there. So I'm sorry if it seems a little long for some of you. I apologize for that. The first psalm is Psalm 84, and it's by Cora's family, and it's entitled, Even the Sparrow.
00:10:09
Speaker
The place where you live is beautiful, God. My soul wants to be with you. You are the living God. Even the sparrow has a home with you.
00:10:22
Speaker
The swallow has a nest, too. She can raise her baby birds at a place close to you. You are the Lord who has all power.
00:10:33
Speaker
You are my King and my God. Good things come to people who live in your house. They always praise you. Good things come to people who are strong in you.
00:10:48
Speaker
They set their hearts on following you. You make the valley flow with water. Rain makes water. Rain makes pools of water there.
00:11:01
Speaker
One day in your house is better than a thousand days anywhere else. I would rather be a doorkeeper in God's house than live with sinful people. The Lord God is like a sun.
00:11:16
Speaker
he is like a shield. He makes people important. He does not keep anything good from those who do what is right. Good comes to people who trust in you, God.
00:11:32
Speaker
Did you recognize the lines from a song that we sometimes sing in church? Better is one day in your house than a thousand days anywhere else.
00:11:44
Speaker
I don't think that's exactly the how they put it in in the big Bible, but that's the tune and that's the song. Better than one day in your courts.
00:11:57
Speaker
I love that song. I can't remember the words to it all right now, but I knew when I read that that I was like, oh, we sing that sometimes. And I love that. So I hope that song gets in your head a little bit. Although we have so many other psalms that will come after this one that might go out of your head.
00:12:12
Speaker
I had forgotten about that again until I read it. And then I was like, oh, oh, yeah, I forgot about that. Even the and sparrow. God cares about everything.
00:12:24
Speaker
He cares about the tiniest little bird to us, to the biggest animals, the whales, the elephants, everything. And everything not only belongs to God, but he cares for them.
00:12:37
Speaker
He gives them ways to provide for themselves and he brings food for them. And he's just, he's such a wonderful God. Everything in the whole earth is his.
00:12:48
Speaker
He created it and he designed it. And he is a wonderful creator. He has so much imagination and he has given us imagination too, to be co-creators with him. Because we like to make things too.
00:13:06
Speaker
Good things come to people who are strong in you. Good things come to people who live in your house. Jesus said that there are many rooms in his Father's house. And there's plenty of space for all of us.
00:13:19
Speaker
Isn't that wonderful? and it's always good stuff. God never runs out of good stuff.
00:13:29
Speaker
Let's go on to the next Psalm.
00:13:34
Speaker
It's called Every Morning. And this is Psalm 90. And this is a prayer that Moses wrote.
00:13:43
Speaker
God, we have lived with you ever since you made people. You were God before the mountains were born. You were God before you made the earth. Forever and ever, you are God.
00:13:58
Speaker
The way you see it, a thousand years are like a day. They're like only part of a night. People don't last long. They're like the new morning grass.
00:14:11
Speaker
It grows up in the morning, but by evening it's dry. We are afraid of your anger. You see our secret sins in your light.
00:14:23
Speaker
We live 70 years or 80 if we are strong, but we see lots of trouble and sadness. Our years pass fast and then we fly away.
00:14:37
Speaker
Teach us to use our years doing what's right. Be kind to the people who serve you. Every morning fill us with your love that never ends.
00:14:52
Speaker
Then we'll sing with joy as long as we live.
00:14:57
Speaker
Make us glad for as many days as we have been sad. Show our children how great you are. Be kind to us and let good things come from the work we do.
00:15:13
Speaker
Amen. That is a wonderful prayer that Moses prayed, isn't it?
00:15:19
Speaker
i love all of that. It is just amazing. God was God before anything. Before he made the earth, he was God. He always has been and he always will be.
00:15:31
Speaker
And that's why he says his name I i am
00:15:38
Speaker
He has no beginning and no end. His name is i Am. just exists. He always has. And for us, that's hard to understand because we have a beginning and an end.
00:15:52
Speaker
Like Moses says, our life is so short, it's like the morning grass that it comes up green in the morning and by evening it's dead and dried out.
00:16:04
Speaker
And our years pass fast. I like Moses' prayer to teach us to use our years doing what's right.
00:16:15
Speaker
That's a very wise thing to ask God, don't you think? For us to ask him to use our years to teach us how to use our years to do what's right.
00:16:27
Speaker
And to every morning, fill us with your love that never ends. I love that prayer. Fill us every morning with your love that never ends. And then we'll sing with joy as long as we live and make us glad for as many days as we have been sad.
00:16:47
Speaker
i like how he asks for show our children how great you are.
00:16:54
Speaker
And to let good things come from the work we do. God tells us that he has set work aside for us to do. Everybody has work that he has made for us to do.
00:17:05
Speaker
And Moses prays that let good come from the work that we do. I like that. I think I'll be asking for that too.
00:17:16
Speaker
Psalm 92, Morning and Night. We don't know who wrote this one. It doesn't say.
00:17:23
Speaker
It's good to praise God. It's good to make music to your name, Most High God. In the morning, it's good to tell about your love. At night, it's good to tell how you keep your promises.
00:17:38
Speaker
It's good to make music on the heart. You make me glad by what you do, God. Your works are great and your thoughts are deep. Fools do not understand them.
00:17:52
Speaker
Sinful people spring up like grass and they may grow for a while, but they will be torn down forever. You are praised forever, God.
00:18:03
Speaker
I know your enemies will die. All sinful people will run away. People who do what's right will grow like palm trees. They will grow as tall as cedar trees.
00:18:17
Speaker
They will still grow fruit when they are old. They will stay fresh and green and they will say, God is right. There is no sin in him.
00:18:30
Speaker
Isn't it wonderful that God has no sin in him? Instead, we know that God is love. God is perfect love. Everything about him is love.
00:18:43
Speaker
There is no sin in him and there's no sin in Jesus. And that's why he was able to pay the price for our sins. He who had no sin took all of our sins and washed them in his blood so that we could have forgiveness from God for all of our sins.

God's Nature and Human Response

00:19:02
Speaker
And that process is called God reconciled us to him. He brought us back together when we were separate from him. So to reconcile means to come back together.
00:19:14
Speaker
So if you have an argument with somebody and then you go to them and and you make things right again so that you're not separated, you are reconciled. And that's what God did with Jesus is he reconciled us with him because there was no sin in him.
00:19:30
Speaker
And I'm so thankful for that.
00:19:35
Speaker
And I wanna tell you that the comparisons they make, like people who do what's right will grow like palm trees. That's ah what we call imagery or symbolism.
00:19:46
Speaker
So we know that we ah will bear fruit for God. And that's how people know what we are like is by our fruit. That's what Jesus says is that every tree bears the fruit of its kind.
00:20:00
Speaker
So we can only bear good fruit if we are good inside. And it says that people who do what's right will still grow fruit when they are old.
00:20:13
Speaker
They will stay fresh and green. And they will say, God is right. There is no sin in him. I love that.
00:20:24
Speaker
And it is good to praise God. And it is good to make music to your name, Most High God. God loves a joyful noise. He loves pretty music. And he loves when we just make music to him and sing to him.
00:20:39
Speaker
There are so many songs that we can listen to the radio, and on our iPods, and just music everywhere. But God likes when we make music to him.
00:20:52
Speaker
One of my favorite things to do is that I do like some love songs. And in general, I i do like the the way a lot of them sound by different artists like Ario Speedwagon and stuff like that.
00:21:04
Speaker
And kids, you won't know who that is. But a lot of songs in the world are love songs. And they always seem to talk about ah someone as though they were just the the perfect person.
00:21:17
Speaker
But nobody is perfect like that. Only God is. So sometimes when I'm singing the love songs, I sing them to God. They don't have to be a church song or hymn or a song.
00:21:31
Speaker
In my heart, I'm singing them to God. And I'd like to do that. So I just wanted to share that with you.
00:21:40
Speaker
You can do that too. The next time ah ah wonderful love song comes on and whether you're married or not, or whether you're, if you're grownup, you're not married yet if you're a kid. But ah a lot of those love songs, ah when they come on, it can be hard to to think of your spouse during those songs that you think, they're not like that.
00:21:59
Speaker
Because songs are about, know, like someone that's practically perfect, it seems like. And the only one who is perfect is God. And he is love. So I like to sing the love songs to him.
00:22:15
Speaker
Silly. But I know he loves that.
00:22:20
Speaker
Our next song, we have two more to go, is Psalm 112 and it's called Even in the Dark.
00:22:29
Speaker
God brings good things to people who look up to God. They enjoy his commands. Their children will be a success. God brings good things to families of people who do right.
00:22:43
Speaker
Riches are in their houses. Even in the dark, light will shine for people who do what's right. They are kind and good.
00:22:56
Speaker
They give to others. They are fair in business. Those who do what's right will always be remembered. They are not afraid of bad news, and their hearts will keep on trusting God.
00:23:11
Speaker
One day they will win over their enemies. They give to poor people, and they will always do what's right. They are strong. Others treat them like important people, and sinful people will see it.
00:23:25
Speaker
They will be angry. and Other people will forget them, their wishes will turn into nothing.
00:23:35
Speaker
Well, I'll tell you, I once again thought of my refrigerator when I read this psalm.
00:23:41
Speaker
They are not afraid of bad news. I was thinking, oh yeah. I am kind of afraid of bad news, but I did tell myself, I tried to remember and and just constantly be reminding myself um that God was in control and that he was going to work everything to good.
00:24:02
Speaker
And that I asked him to show me the good that he would bring. And then, you know, I would forget and then I would get anxious and then I'd start calling and wanting to know when my delivery time was. So I want to confess that so you can see that, you know, none of us is perfect.
00:24:18
Speaker
But I was reminded of my refrigerator when I read the psalm. And it says, their hearts will keep on trusting God. And that's exactly what I was trying to do. I said, okay, Lord, I trust you. I'm trying to trust you.
00:24:30
Speaker
i And then I would forget because I'm not perfect and I'm just a people like you.

God vs. Idols

00:24:37
Speaker
I like how it says,
00:24:41
Speaker
God brings good things to the families of people who do right. Even in the dark, light will shine for people who do what's right. Jesus is our light.
00:24:52
Speaker
He says he is a light to our path. I like that. He says those families are kind and good, and they give to others, and they are fair in business.
00:25:06
Speaker
See how it doesn't matter how old these Psalms are. They're still applicable even today. Being kind and good never gets old.
00:25:17
Speaker
It never is something that used to happen. It shouldn't be. We still have kind and good people today. They give to others. We have people today who give to others.
00:25:29
Speaker
They are fair in business. Even back then, being fair in business was important. Those who do what's right will always be remembered.
00:25:41
Speaker
They're not afraid of bad news and their hearts will keep on trusting God. And one day they will win over their refrigerators. Oops, they're enemies. remember right now, my enemy is my refrigerator.
00:25:57
Speaker
I want to remind you and encourage you to personalize the Psalms for whatever it is you have going on too.
00:26:05
Speaker
All right, this is our last Psalm of the day. and it's entitled, Eyes That Can't See, Psalm 115. You are great, God, not us.
00:26:18
Speaker
It's because of your love, and you keep your promises. Why do nations say, where is their God? Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he wants.
00:26:32
Speaker
But their idols are made of silver and gold. They are made by people's hands. Idols have mouths, but they can't talk. They have eyes, but they can't see. They have ears, but they can't hear.
00:26:48
Speaker
They have noses, but they can't smell. They have hands, but they cannot feel. They have feet, but they can't walk.
00:27:00
Speaker
They can't even make a sound. People who make them will be like them. People who trust in them will also be like them.
00:27:12
Speaker
If you think God is the most important, you should trust Him. He is your helper and your guard. God remembers us. He will bring good things to everyone who looks up to Him.
00:27:27
Speaker
It doesn't matter if they are great or small. The highest of all space is God's. But He gave the earth to people. We are the ones who praise God and we cheer for him now and forever.
00:27:43
Speaker
Praise God.
00:27:47
Speaker
And that's the end of Psalm 115.
00:27:51

I love this psalm. I like how it talks about idols. Do you remember that when the ark box was taken by the enemy and it was brought into their idols' worship house, that when they got up the next day, God had knocked their idol down and they set it back up and then God knocked it down again and he broke it And they said that they needed the Ark box to go because it was causing problems for their God.

It makes me laugh. That's what I was thinking of. And because that's exactly it, is that that their idol couldn't do anything. It was just a a piece of something made by people. It's like having a doll.
00:28:41
Speaker
we have We have toy dolls that we play with and that we we pretend you know the baby doll is a real baby and we take care of the baby doll. But we know the baby doll is just a baby doll.
00:28:53
Speaker
They treat their idol like it's a real baby doll, like it's a real idol, like it's a real god. And it can't see, can't hear, ah can't touch, it can't smell, ah can't talk, it can't do anything.

But our God is real. i am so grateful. Our God is real. He's there with us. He is with us. He is inside of us with his Holy Spirit.
00:29:23
Speaker
Our God died for us so that we could be reconciled with him. And he is always there. he's We just talked a few minutes ago about how he's always existed.
00:29:36
Speaker
He speaks to people. He speaks. And there are people who have heard him. And people who have seen him.
00:29:47
Speaker
Because whoever has seen the son has seen the father. so we know that people saw him as well. He has sent his angel, which is Jesus, to come down and to talk to people.
00:29:59
Speaker
He sends other angels down to do work for him. He sends angels at times to protect and to fight for us. He is real.
00:30:11
Speaker
People have seen his angels and and Jesus. and moses was permitted to see his back and when moses was in close proximity when he was close by god his face shone because of god's glory being so close to him and when he came down off of the mountain after talking to god his face was shining And those remember, the people were afraid, and they asked him to wear a veil so that they didn't have to see his shining face.

Conclusion and Gratitude

00:30:44
Speaker
i don't know. I'd want to see that shining face. um I would want to be like, whoa, dude, you are glowing. I want to see that. Can I glow too? That's probably something I would have said.
00:30:55
Speaker
But we have evidence of our God, and he speaks to us. We can hear him. And it's just, it's amazing. Idols don't do that.
00:31:06
Speaker
They're just fake. They're just imaginary things. Like when the people ah were waiting for Moses to come down and they decided to make a golden calf and worship it and say, this will be our God.
00:31:18
Speaker
It's like, are you for real right now? He's he's up there, right there. you You can see the the mountain. and hear the thunder and see the cloud that's come down and and you saw the cloud you he he was there in the cloud above the people when they were traveling for 40 days and or 40 years and when they were leaving egypt he parted the red sea for them and we have we have seen our god And yet people choose to believe in these things that they make with their own hands and and call it a God when it doesn't eat, it doesn't do anything.
00:31:58
Speaker
God has consumed um offerings. How many times have we read this year where someone has offered ah ah a food offering or a grain offering to God and God brings down fire and consumes it?
00:32:13
Speaker
No idol has ever done that.
00:32:17
Speaker
Our God is real.
00:32:21
Speaker
and love that.
00:32:24
Speaker
Oh my goodness, what else can we say about that? God remembers us, it says, and he will bring good things to everyone who looks up to him. He's definitely worth looking up to. It doesn't matter if they are great or small.
00:32:37
Speaker
It doesn't matter who we are. God loves every one of us. We are all the same, equal. Just because somebody does one job or does something else or he's gifted people this way or that way, we are all equal in God's sight.

So thank you for listening. Thank you for being with me for this long ah ah session today. We had a lot to talk about, but I'm so glad that you were here. And if you feel like God has lit your light, please consider clicking that light button.
00:33:22
Speaker
It looks like a thumbs up or a heart. But we know that it's really a light button. And together we are lighting up the world with Jesus and spreading the word about reading God's word.
