In this heartwarming episode, Tiffanie and Jessica explore the power of gratitude and its transformative effects on our lives. From small daily practices to big life lessons, they share personal stories, practices, and ways to enhance and create your own gratitude practices to create thankfulness in every situation and every day. Whether you're seeking inspiration or simply a reminder of life's blessings, this episode will leave you with a fuller heart and a fresh perspective.

Practices to cultivate gratitude: Prayers of gratitude, gratitude journal, reframe your complaints and negative thoughts, reflection on your difficult times, gratitude jars, make a habit of expressing gratitude to someone every day, write thank you notes and letters, notice and appreciate the small things, volunteer and give back to others and your community.

Gratitude reflection questions:

What do you find yourself being the most grateful for during your daily gratitude practices?

What's something enjoyable you get to experience every day that you've come to take for granted?

What's a hard lesson that you were grateful to learn?

What's an aspect of your physical health that you have taken for granted?

What has happened this week that you are grateful for?

What is the most recent small and simple moment you are grateful for?

What's an aspect of how you were parented for which you feel grateful?

What's one thing about your job you have been grateful for lately?

Who is one person who makes your life better?

Who do you think is grateful for you and why?

What is a small success you had recently?

00:00:02
Speaker
Good morning, everybody. It's the day before Thanksgiving. I am Jess, and I am here with my bestie. Hi, guys. Welcome to the Beyond Aesthetics podcast. I am Tiffany. And together, we are your hosts. And we are talking today about gratitude. And it's perfect timing as Thanksgiving is tomorrow. And we have, uh,

Speaker

Mastermind Group and Engagement Opportunities

00:00:49
Speaker
Thanksgiving. So um let's go ahead and dive into actually just updating you guys on what's going on with our businesses just in general. So my first update that we want to bring to you guys is that we are taking signups.
00:01:05
Speaker
and even just creating a list for our next mastermind group that starts in January. um The first start date is January 20th. And those are every other week. So I don't have the exact dates, but if you look at your calendar, you can basically figure that out and we'll probably go through um' very early June is usually how that rolls out. So it would be January 20th, probably until the first or second week in June.
00:01:38
Speaker
um every other week from nine to 11. And basically what we're doing right now, you are welcome to sign up right now. We don't have an end date for signups in mind yet, but we are just creating a list of people who are interested. So if you are interested in just getting more information, that packet that has all that information, it is going to be ready to go by Friday that I'll have all of those exact dates.
00:02:05
Speaker
And so you will want to just slide into my messages or Tiffany's messages. I am at the underscore SD underscore coach SD just with an E.
00:02:17
Speaker
on Instagram. And so just shoot me a DM if you want to get on the list. And Tiffany is at Sweet Cheeks University on Instagram. And you can also just slide into her DMs and let her know that you want to be added to that list. So it's basically just a wait list. And we're just going to send you the info if you want to sign up you know now. That's amazing. But um the official signup date is not going to be probably until towards the end of December, honestly. And we're gonna take about six, maybe seven people

Benefits of Mastermind Group for Beauty Professionals

00:02:51
Speaker
for the group. We really do like to keep that just a little bit smaller and more intimate. So if that's something that you have been looking for, let us know. um Two episodes ago.
00:03:01
Speaker
is when we talked about the mastermind group. So if you haven't listened to that episode and you don't know what the mastermind group is all like all about, go ahead and go back and listen to that. It is our favorite, favorite thing that we do. And we are loving the group right now. We have such an incredible call on Monday. um you know A few of the different things that we talked about, we have been basically going over holiday promotions with people and One thing that we did on this last call is we actually went through every person and made a list of everything that they are doing for their holiday promotions. I compiled that for everybody and then sent that out so that they always have that to reference when the holidays or you know the seasons come around and they want to do some promotions. That was really fun and we had a lot of really good discussions as we always do. so We would love to have you guys even just get on the waiting list so that we can send you that information.
00:04:00
Speaker
Absolutely. And the mastermind is for estheticians, you know, cosmos stylist, any beauty professional who's looking to grow and connect and get really, um, just have support. That's really what this group is about. And so yeah, don't hesitate to reach out. If you have, you know, even if you need further clarifications, if you go back and listen to that previous episode, um, or if you, um, just want to know more information, just shoot us message. We'd love to send you that.
00:04:29
Speaker
Yes, absolutely. Just put yourself on a fast track. I think the January group is always my favorite because it's the new year and so everybody's really fired up to reach their goals, make some changes, and being in a group really does fast track you to

Discounts and Offers on Masterclasses

00:04:45
Speaker
achieving that. so and The next thing that we want to talk about is just basically our own personal offers and if we're going to be offering any fun sort of specials through the holidays. so I'm the offer that I have out right now. It's still my retail master class. I just have to say that I am not being very consistent on my Instagram page right now, but still please be in my DMs. I'm rebranding, and I talked about this on my story the other day, but
00:05:15
Speaker
I basically created themes in my brand that I thought would appeal to other people and they were not what I they weren't they're not true to me. I think even Tiffany could probably look through my page and just say this isn't really you like it isn't really your vibe the things I say are my vibe but the overall like themes that I've been working with you can clearly see that I haven't landed um on anything specific because I'm trying too hard to appeal to other people instead of just taking the reins and saying actually black and white is my favorite color and these are the things that I love to talk about and these are my themes and whatever and so and but I'm still very active. I still check my messages a few times per day and communicate there so
00:06:02
Speaker
And even if you see that I'm not posting regularly, like, please, I'm still offering my retail master classes. And I will start posting about that a little bit more. So my retail master class is a passion project that I love. I do this one on one virtually ah via Zoom. And they're about three, sometimes even three and a half hours long.
00:06:24
Speaker
And I am always willing to split those in two as well. You get the recordings, you get a workbook to follow along with, you get a PDF version of it. And so it's something that you will always have access to. And normally it is $150 for that class, which by the way, is incredibly inexpensive. I think classes like that are usually around $200 to $300 sometimes, but I really wanted to make this affordable for people. So it's normally 150. I'm going to open up three, I'm considering even five spots to do this for $90. If you book from now and like book and pay from now until probably mid December, I think December
00:07:13
Speaker
16th or so, I would probably wrap that up and put a deadline on it. So if you are interested in doing that masterclass with me, then and we can schedule it out through like January, February, or whatever, but go ahead and book that with me, sign up with me, get paid, and I'm gonna give you a $60 discount to do that. Which is so i amazing. mean That's a really, really, really nice gift.
00:07:38
Speaker
for Black Friday. I'm excited about it. I put a lot of thought into it and the truth is that I just really want the information out there. you know I really love doing this with people and putting them on a different trajectory, helping them with their confidence in the way that they are seeing retail sales and performing and helping their clients and building their businesses. Retail sales is a massive part of building your business or just building you as a professional. It is such an important skill. And so yeah, I definitely,
00:08:13
Speaker
You know, don't mind, I definitely would not mark it down to that price all the time because it's such a long course. And I do put so much time and love and effort into it. But I would say minimum three people possibly open that up to find people to do that for $90. So if you're interested in that, go ahead and send me a message and we'll get you taken care of. Oh, nice. OK, and so I am also doing a Black Friday holiday promotion.
00:08:42
Speaker
And my personal passion as an educator is Brazilian waxing. And if you're new here or if you've been following along for a little bit, then you may know that already. I've been waxing now for 13 years and it's I have a Brazilian wax masterclass online course. And so I've talked about this a lot. Brazilian waxing is something that is just really not covered well in aesthetics or cosmos school. And it's something that can be done really, really well with the right tools and the skills and the knowledge and the confidence. And it's just not being done really that great for estheticians and so it's anyways. and So that's really the passion behind creating this online course is that so estheticians or licensed professionals can learn how to wax really, really well and be able to do so with confidence and create a really great source of revenue for your skincare business.
00:09:41
Speaker
And so this, um, masterclass online course covers everything and it shows everything hands-on. And so it feels like you're learning beside me in the treatment room. And it's a very, very detailed. And then we go over everything else, um, needed to build your profitable waxing business. So for my block credit promotion, I have a four hour listeners here on this podcast. I have a 20% off coupon.
00:10:08
Speaker
for listeners only. And so if you visit sweetcheeksuniversity.com and then you go to the link for the Brazilian wax on online masterclass or yeah, Brazilian wax masterclass online course and enter a code black Friday, all caps, all one word that will save you 20%. And that will run now through the end of Friday.
00:10:30
Speaker
at midnight. So technically like Saturday morning at midnight. And so if you also have questions about, you know, what the course entails, or, um you know, just, it's a big investment. And I understand that. So you can reach out to me via DM as well. And I'd love to help answer any questions.
00:10:52
Speaker
Amazing, so exciting. So we're way excited about

Exploring Gratitude: Quotes and Benefits

00:10:56
Speaker
that. And now let's go ahead and just get into the episode on gratitude. So I have a few quotes about gratitude that I absolutely love. The first one is, through the eyes of gratitude, everything is a miracle. And then acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. That is from Eckhart Tolle. He's one of my absolute favorite authors.
00:11:21
Speaker
And then the next one is something so simple, but it's important to take the time out from living and just appreciate what you've got right in front of you. Love those so much. No, it just gave me chills when I read those. And when I was reading them last night, I thought that they were so beautiful and just really captured how I feel about gratitude and how I definitely know that you feel about gratitude as well. So I read up a little bit more on gratitude and bing
00:11:52
Speaker
Just the different benefits. I was really curious about different studies and stuff that have been done. So gratitude is the feeling of thankfulness and appreciation for the good things in life. It can involve acknowledging the role that others play in positive events and recognizing that the source of goodness lies outside of oneself.
00:12:11
Speaker
According to experts, the act of practicing gratitude has been shown to have a myriad of benefits for your mental and physical health, from increasing feelings of optimism and hope to strengthening your relationships, boosting immunity, improving decision making, performing more caring actions, and even improving your sleep. Research specifically shows that people who regularly engage in a practice of gratitude report being more optimistic and feeling more hopeful. In one key study conducted by leading psychologist and gratitude expert, Dr. Robert E. Emmons and Dr. Michael McCullough, people who wrote down things they were grateful for during a period of 10 weeks had considerably more positive changes in their mood than those who wrote about what things that annoyed them or those who merely wrote about life events only, including feeling more optimistic about the upcoming week, more connected with other people, and more satisfied with their lives as a whole. The benefits extend to be beyond just mental well-being too. In the same study, those who wrote about things they were grateful for also reported fewer physical complaints, more time exercising, in the longer sleep duration, as well as better sleep quality than the other two groups. Physically, gratitude is associated with lowered blood pressure,
00:13:29
Speaker
bettered sleep, fewer aches and pains, and stronger immune systems. But what exactly is the mechanism by which gratitude makes us happier? Ultimately, it may all come down to perspective. Gratitude gives people a lens through which negative life events can be interpreted more fruitfully. Anxiety, depression, or negativism are limited in the face of appreciation.
00:13:54
Speaker
for the many good things the world offers and bestows on us. In the end, gratitude changes one's perspective and reorients attention and focus on others and the world beyond. Wow. How do you feel about that? That's amazing. also Especially the physical body aspects yeah that gratitude promotes, but also makes so much sense. Doesn't it? Right? Yeah.
00:14:20
Speaker
Yeah, it really does. I loved finding that article and reading through that last night because I think we know that, especially you and I have gratitude practices and it's very clear when we're doing them and and when we're not. And I, you know, it's a quick, simple thing that it really does change your entire life. So i'm how were you introduced to gratitude practices and how has it changed your life?
00:14:51
Speaker
So honestly, it was my parents that really when I really think about it is what started it. From a very young age, I was always taught to it started with, you know, say thank you, and then it helped shape like, why am I thankful for being told to be thankful, you know, I had me help me really realize that as I grew older. And then really like, if I have to think about it, I've always had gratitude practices of some sort and I've always been a very grateful person. But a couple of years ago, you really helped me hone in on my gratitude practices where being like very intentional with it. Yeah. So I really have you to thank for that as well. Especially when you introduced me to the gratitude journal, which we're going to talk about in a minute. That was life changing. Yeah.
00:15:43
Speaker
good. I love that. Thank you. Yeah, my parents, it definitely came my my mind immediately goes to my mom when we used to have family nights growing up on Monday nights. And ah one thing that she did for a family night is she gave me and my siblings these little notebooks. And we were encouraged and I'm I guarantee she checked them because she's she's hardcore. I guarantee she checked them. But we had to write five things every night before we went to bed that we were grateful for. And that really set me on a trajectory. And that's just where I learned gratitude.
00:16:24
Speaker
um And then, you know, in addition to that, I have to say, so my ex-husband, so I was married at a very young age for a short time to a really good person. And he had such a positive, grateful mindset too. And so he also instilled a lot of that in me and made sure, you know, that I was never complaining, that I was never negative. And so my mind immediately goes to those two experiences and then, um,
00:16:53
Speaker
Yeah, but it's really, really carried me through to having more specific gratitude practices. So and before I get into mine, what are your own personal gratitude practices?
00:17:05
Speaker
Um, prayer is probably my main source of gratitude. I end my day and I start my day with prayer and it all, and my prayers always start with what I'm grateful for specifically like things that happen that day and where I'm at in life and my timeline and, um, being really, um, aware of where I've been.
00:17:27
Speaker
And just, just sending my gratitude to the universe and to God and to, you know, my creator. And that's really, I just, it's come and gone throughout my life, but I've always been a very spiritual person. So that's really the basis of that. And then I also will have a gratitude journal, which as mentioned, you introduced me to that a while back. And so I finished the one that I ordered and I'm actually due for another one. So I'm going to order one, especially after having this conversation today.
00:17:58
Speaker
and just writing down, but I also journal every day. So I have that practice here. It's just not very specific with an actual gratitude journal. So writing down, I like the gratitude journals because they have prompts and it really helps you get specific and helps you think outside of like your regular pattern of thinking of how to be grateful and the things that you're grateful for and stuff like that. Those are mine. What are yours?
00:18:23
Speaker
Mine are the same. I don't know where that prayer thing came from, but my prayers are rarely ever me asking for a whole lot. you know I always just go through this list in my head every morning and every night.
00:18:38
Speaker
you know, when I'm in prayer and just saying everything that I'm so grateful for, you know, and then at the end of that, I feel like maybe if I need help with something, I'll throw that in there. But

Personal Gratitude Practices and Habits

00:18:48
Speaker
I honestly am not even sure where that came from. But it's very, very life changing. You know, when you are in bed at night, or if you kneel to pray or whatever you do, and you start going through this list in your head of your day and what you were grateful for,
00:19:06
Speaker
Man, like you literally go to bed feeling better, you wake up feeling better, and it's really the first thing that I do in the morning. I make my coffee, I go sit in my sunroom, and I just start to pray and go through everything that I am just so grateful for. And um and then, yes, my gratitude journal. I have had a gratitude journal for going on five years now.
00:19:30
Speaker
um I have been through so many of those little pink journals and I actually keep all of them. So I have a huge bin in my house that has all of my gratitude journals in there. And um that that makes a huge difference. I've been a little bit inconsistent with that this year. And whenever I'm just not feeling good anymore, and like all I need to do is wake up in the morning and after I say my prayers, it's just take five minutes and fill that page out.
00:19:58
Speaker
And it really does change everything. um That journal's really cool. You can also do it at night. I usually don't. I usually do the second page in the morning before I wake up. And I'm gonna put the link in the show notes so that you guys can see what we're talking about. It's so cheap. It's usually anywhere from seven to $10 on Amazon. and And so I do have a favorite gratitude journal. And yeah, so that's ah just my personal gratitude practices are the same as yours.
00:20:28
Speaker
I have a question. Do you ever go back and look at your old gratitude journals? No, I don't. I don't. I think I would, you know, at some point and actually I probably do need to do that, you know, and, and just go back through that. It would probably be such an incredible and emotional experience to do that. And I, I'm glad that I saved them. Really, really glad that I saved them.
00:20:52
Speaker
Yeah, it has me thinking that I think it would be a a good gratitude practice to do, at least for me to go back and revisit that because it'll help you realize how far you've come and how you can be grateful. So maybe if somebody is in a place where they're really struggling to find silver lining in, ah you know, you're going through some hard trials, that would be a really great gratitude practice to try. Yeah, I love that. That's a really good idea. So, um, okay.
00:21:22
Speaker
We compiled a list of practices to create more gratitude in your life. So when I was putting this together, I just thought, you know, yes, these are our things that we do, but in general,
00:21:36
Speaker
What are other things that people could do or start to focus on that just would create the habit of gratitude? Because they do feel like gratitude is a habit that you build. um You know the other thing that I actually want to talk about before I even get into that is when you really are focused. So that quote that I read that said,
00:21:58
Speaker
to to do um Acknowledging the good thing that you already have and the good things that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. i truly like That just resonates with me so much because it is so easy for us to think of everything that we don't have, everything that we lack, everything that we want when the truth is that You have everything that you need right in front of you to be happy and to be living a really abundant life. And when you are in that energy and you're continually practicing the gratitude and just telling
00:22:34
Speaker
God and the universe and and yourself and you know your your family and all of that and just putting out that energy of everything that you really are grateful for more comes to you sometimes you even want less too because all of a sudden You're like, wow, I have so much to be grateful for. And that's a huge part of it too. And then, you know, the other thing is too, I don't know, I'd have to find a link to this somewhere, but you know how there is.
00:23:05
Speaker
A vibration scale of emotion, hi gratitude is one of the very, very top ones. Yeah. And so the other thing too is when you are going through a difficult time or when you're just feeling very like agitated or negative or, you know, you know, life gets really hard or whatever.
00:23:25
Speaker
The easiest, quickest thing for you to do to get from those negative emotions, the fear, the grief, the guilt, the shame, the complaining, all of those themes and shoot yourself up on that vibration scale and start to climb up is to practice gratitude and just start going through, you know, however you have to do that. We're going to give you a list of, you know, things that you could do here, but it's kind of like, so this is going to be so silly, but because we're speaking to beauty professionals, you guys are going to get what I'm saying. It's like when you do a peel.
00:23:59
Speaker
that has a very low pH. And so you're like ah down here on that scale. And you know, you're really, really low. And then you have to bring in a neutralizer that's really, really high, what happens, we start to climb. And so, i like, that is literally how gratitude works is that we're in that low vibe.
00:24:21
Speaker
All of a sudden we start to express our gratitude, which is extremely high vibe. And that's going to help us just climb that ladder back up and start to raise our vibes. Just like when we're neutralizing appeal and the age of this kind of, it is exactly the same thing because that skill is like a ladder.
00:24:40
Speaker
um And so another thing too, if you want to stay high vibe, literally you want to have gratitude practices. That is the easiest way to just stay in a really, really high vibration. When you're living in a really high vibration, you attract so much more abundance and love in your life. And things do generally tend to kind of like go better for you. And and that should definitely be the overall goal. So do you have anything to add about that?
00:25:09
Speaker
No, just just to piggyback off of it, I think it just helps release the tension, that energetic tension that we're all fighting against by raising that vibration. And um it just really, things just go smoother. And like you said in the very beginning, it helps you realize that like maybe what you're focusing on or white knuckling isn't maybe as important as you get is in the habit of thinking. When you like look at the big picture, you look at how far you've come, you look at maybe like You actually have everything you've ever hoped and dreamed and prayed for right now. And so yes, maybe you're not where you want to be. And is that really necessary because you have so much to be grateful for? So it really is vibrational. It really is life changing. And it really is a practice. It's it's a daily thing to help keep your vibration high, to keep raising those levels. Cause of course life is still going to happen. Of course, hard things are still going to happen. And we all have to navigate that as humans.
00:26:09
Speaker
And that's why just gratitude is so important. ye Yeah, absolutely. Okay, so practices to create more gratitude in your life. We already mentioned the first one, which is prayers of gratitude. In many spiritual traditions, prayer prayers of gratitude are considered to be the most powerful form of prayer. Because through these prayers, people recognize the ultimate source of all they are and all they ever will be. And um so that's honestly, I would have to say probably the easiest one. Like if you really don't have any gratitude practices, and such as like a journal or whatever it is, and you just want to get started in some sort of a gratitude habit, literally even just once per day. Prayer does not, I mean, prayer can look a million different ways, so don't get stuck on what that is. Just whoever you pray to, you guys, I literally start my prayers only because, like, I was raised in a religion, and as I've gotten older, I just have, like, a become extremely spiritual, so I literally start my prayers with, like,
00:27:17
Speaker
my dear kind and gracious Heavenly Father, the universe, my higher self, my guys, my like, you know, so I pray what like I'm talking to my brother, like I'm talking to my kitty, like or my grandma or whoever, like I literally start my prayers like that because I'm just like,
00:27:36
Speaker
everybody in the universe and not any higher power and wants to listen to me. So my prayers are very much like that. And then I just start like going over this list of everything that I'm grateful for. So just keep in mind prayer can be whatever you want, whatever you want, whatever you believe in. You can pray to trees if you want to. I was gonna say, whatever that is, Mother Earth, like just you know, express gratitude in a form of prayer that works for you. I do feel that that is the easiest place to start and just kind of going through your head of everything that you're grateful for is
00:28:16
Speaker
the most powerful, even more powerful than having a gratitude journal. That's why I listed this one first. So prayers of gratitude. And then of course we talked about the gratitude journal.

Gratitude Journaling and Mental Resilience

00:28:27
Speaker
um I will put that link to the one that I am obsessed with in there. I actually want to make my own. So I'm fine with putting that out here in the universe because there's still things that I want to tweak. um I would really like to have my own gratitude journal.
00:28:42
Speaker
um and and create that. And I have kind of done that in our Mastermind group resources and sort of created my own document for that. But so so you could do that. So there's many different types of gratitude journals, you can get on Etsy and create your own, you can just create your own, just create a Word document, just have a blank page, whatever you want to do, but find or figure out some sort of gratitude journal.
00:29:11
Speaker
ah The next one is so important too. So this is reframing your complaints and negative thoughts. Okay, so I got in the habit of doing this. oh Well, I don't know if it came from my ex-husband, but I remember when I was just starting to travel with evidence for my job. So this is I'm talking what 11 going on 12 years ago now I was traveling with my old boss Lisa Wensley and her ah um fiance John and they were we were very very close we were like family and we'd always be in the car together and as soon as somebody would say something negative or we would complain
00:29:56
Speaker
my instant response was okay now what's three things that we love about this or what are three positive things about this and that's how my mind works and I don't remember when I picked that up um and it was so natural to me that it really surprised me that they were like thinking that that was really amazing. You know what I mean? And I'm like, Oh, that's just what I do. Like, I have just trained myself to be that way. And I'm still that way. And that, you know, it's not that we don't have negative thoughts or complaints.
00:30:26
Speaker
that come up or these hard things that happen, um it's okay, that's life and you want to identify that, you want to recognize it. But if you can get into a habit of, okay, I recognize that that was really negative, I recognize that I just complained about something now, what are three positive things about that situation, about that person, you know whatever that is. And the more that you do that, the more that you start to rewire your brain to work in a more positive direction.
00:30:55
Speaker
I actually do the same thing at the gym. If I'm in the middle of a set or if I'm doing cardio and I think about quitting, I will automatically tack on another set or another five minutes to now change my brain. And and you know as soon as those thoughts happen, I force myself to do that so that those thoughts will happen less and less. And so you can rewire your your brain. You can train your brain.
00:31:25
Speaker
to completely
00:31:30
Speaker
adjust the way that you are feeling or responding to situations, right? So if you're immediately in a negative situation, you're you're thinking about quitting, you're complaining, you're negative, you're whatever, you can train your brain to immediately go the other direction. And it's not that hard, it actually doesn't take that long. So that is one of the most powerful things besides the the prayer, besides the gratitude journal is to start to work with your own brain to train your brain to think more positive and to go a completely different direction. I do that too. Mine is maybe a tiny bit different. I really like the three things because it offsets the one and you're coming in with like three different things that offset that one. So so I'll use the gym analogy as well. So um
00:32:21
Speaker
what I do is I really try to like when it's like hard and I'm like say like I'm running and I'm like trying to reach my end goal and I'm like petering out and then I will really just be like talk to myself about like how amazing I am like you kind of like a cheerleader aspect

Challenges and Growth: A Path to Gratitude

00:32:37
Speaker
like you've got this you're gonna do it did-dada and I just really start doing that but I really like the three things Um, I think that's really powerful to offset the negative, the one negative thing, but it is, um, such a good practice and such a valuable practice. And one other thing that I'll add onto that is sometimes when I get into that mindset and I have a negative thought, and then I really think about like choosing my heart.
00:33:06
Speaker
and that I am choosing this. And even when it's hard, even when it's really difficult, even when I don't like it, like I'm choosing this because either I'm growing from it or because it's gonna feel so good on the other side of it or because XYZ, whatever the scenario is, and that really helps with my brain and that aspect as well. Wow. That is super powerful. No matter what it is, you're like, well, I'm choosing this.
00:33:36
Speaker
I chose this. And then you kind of lean into it. And just kind of like you said, how you would add on an extra five minutes or an extra five sets to your hard workout. Like you're choosing that. And that I think just rewires your brain as well and helps you lean into it, helps you push through, helps you really realize that like, and in like the greater scheme of things, like is this really that hard? No, I'm going to choose this.
00:34:02
Speaker
you know, maybe to offset, you know, really what I don't want, something that actually really would be hard, you know. rule I love that. Yeah. Amazing. Thank you so much for that. That was incredible. So the next one, the next practice is to actually reflect on your difficult times.
00:34:23
Speaker
To be grateful in your current state, it is helpful to remember the hard times that you once experienced. When you remember how difficult life used to be, even momentarily, and how far you have come, you set up an explicit contrast in your mind, and this contrast is fertile ground for gratefulness. And that's kind of what we were saying, you know, like, um we've all been through really hard times in our lives, or we all have basically wished for what we have now, you know, and there's a reason for that. And really, the truth is that things could always be worse. And as I was thinking about this episode this morning, thinking about my favorite Christmas movie, it's a wonderful way. You know, everybody feels their own certain way about that movie. I love it. I watch it once or twice per year. And I was like, Wow,
00:35:15
Speaker
I've had the hardest year of my life, it's true. And it could have been so much worse in so many different ways, but but it wasn't, right? And then that just completely reframes everything. And I also just think about all the hard things that I've been through, which is a lot. um And I'm like, life is so good right now.
00:35:39
Speaker
which is crazy to say, you know, because it's been so difficult. But I'm like, Oh my goodness, I, I really do have so much to be grateful for. So I think that that's another really powerful thing is to actually, you know, reflect on that or journal about that. Like, what have you been through before that was literally 10 times worse than where you are right now. And it really changes your perspective.
00:36:04
Speaker
And when you do that reflection, really ask yourself, how did I grow in that? What did I take from that? How am I a better person because of that? Even when it's really hard devastating things, of course you you've um you've transitioned or transformed in some way. So really be take a look at that aspect and that'll help fuel that gratitude as well. There's always

Expressing Gratitude: Practices and Impact

00:36:30
Speaker
a silver lining to everything. There really is, there were really is.
00:36:35
Speaker
The next one's a really fun one and it is a gratitude jar. So very similar to like a journal jar. I made journal jars for my nieces a few years ago for Christmas and it was so fun. um But a gratitude jar is very similar. So basically a gratitude jar would be, you know, you create this really cute jar and then you cut up a bunch of, you know, pieces of paper.
00:36:56
Speaker
And then every day you put things on there that you're grateful for. So they're kind of like we were saying in the journal, you can reflect back on it, right? So when you're going through a hard time or whatever, you can actually go into that jar and just start taking out and looking at all of the things that you have to be grateful for. So gratitude jars are super cute. um The next one would be to make a habit of expressing gratitude to someone every day.
00:37:20
Speaker
okay This is, this is actually so fun. And I've gotten into the habit when somebody crosses my mind, especially if it's somebody that I don't interact with every day, or I'm just like, you know what, like, I'm so thankful for this person for doing it. And like, when I get that hit, I, I've gotten into the practice of acting on it. So I'll just shoot them a text or sometimes I'll send them flowers or just something out of the blue to let them know so that I'm thinking of them and that I am so thankful to have them in my life. And um it really is so amazing because I would have to say probably 10 times out of 10 when you reach out to somebody to tell them like a heartfelt thank you, you get something in return and it's not the point, but it also just like refills and refills your own cup in some way. So, and then it just is like a domino effect, right? And you never know how how somebody else
00:38:15
Speaker
what they're going through and what they need in their life. And so if you're you have that prompt or you have that calling of some sort, it's so great to act on it. Yeah. So true. So true. I love that. Which takes us to the next one is to write thank you notes and letters. And I love texting, don't get me wrong, but I also really love thank you notes and writing letters. And I love technology. Don't get me wrong. Like I love texting. i I do love that. But man, there is just something to be said. Like when Tiffany and I give each other gifts, you guys, we always, always, always, always, there is a handwritten card in there. and And we talk all the time, but we still like it.
00:39:04
Speaker
You know, um it means so much that I'm like, you know what, we text this all the time. We say these things to each other all the time. We're such a normal part in each other's lives. And when I got a birthday card from Tiffany, in fact, all of my even thank you cards that I got from my spa partners from Tiffany from Rihanna from like anybody, they're all over here on a board.
00:39:26
Speaker
Yeah, because I keep all of mine too. They need so much. Oh my goodness. It is so important. So, so, so important. And I i do it for my spa partners, you know, I i try my best and and there's just something to be said. In fact, remember, you know, when we were working with one of our coaching clients, I don't want to divulge who that is, but her name starts with a J. and And she was questioning some of her systems and saying, you know, in my follow-ups, do I,
00:39:56
Speaker
because that's something I would want to automate because she had a habit of, you guys, she had a habit of with new clients and some of her best clients to actually write handwritten thank you cards. Like a new client would come see her and no matter what, she would do a handwritten thank you card and mail it to them. And Tiffany and I were like, don't stop. Blown away because it's such a lost art. Anyways and texts are they are fleeting and they get lost in the thread and and you know they're just something I think vibrational when you actually write it down and then you send that out and then they receive it and I think they're really like there's so much more spirit and soul behind actual words on paper.
00:40:43
Speaker
And that's why I keep all of my cards, birthday cards. I got just a drawer full of them from since I was a kid. i i They're so special to me and so sentimental and they mean so much.
00:40:54
Speaker
And it makes me deeply grateful. And then that gratitude just, it's just a domino effect. like And then I'm able to transfer that in other ways out into the world. Yeah. Isn't it interesting that, though this thought just occurred to me, we have technology yet still when you go to Target or Walmart, we still have sections of cards because they are still important. They are still special.
00:41:18
Speaker
You know, they haven't like gone extinct. They haven't gone extinct for a reason and you should utilize them. When I think there will come a time where they will come like back around even more so than they are now. Obviously they're still needed because they're still in TJ Maxx and in Target like you said but I really do think eventually they're gonna come back around where like maybe that's our only form of communication or something like that so don't lose that round. I hope not either. But Tina Bruno. But yeah, like when I'm in TJ Maxx, because they have cute boxes of gratitude cards, so like I'll pick them up and just thank you cards and then I can customize the internal message however I want. So I always have them on hand for, you know, whenever is needed.
00:42:08
Speaker
You know, I think too, if you're a small business and you sell stuff online, you know, so those of you who own your own your skincare businesses and you have online stores, having a handwritten thank you when people order is a really good idea. Yeah. Really good idea. We do this at Sweet Cheeks, so we'll print the packing slip for our online orders and then we will write a hand like,
00:42:35
Speaker
Thank you, Sarah, so much for your order. We really appreciate it, like whatever it is, right? And then sign our name personally so that it's not just coming from like a business, it's coming from Tiffany from Sweet Cheeks or whatever. And I think it's just something we haven't, we didn't start that way, but it's something we integrated over the last year because actually what gave me the idea is I received a handwritten thank you from a company that I ordered from and I just, it like made me feel so good and made me feel like my dollars were valued on the product that I bought. And so I really wanted to integrate that into our own business. So like you said, like if you have an online store and you send product through the mail, a handwritten, and it can be really simple and it really does go so far and it helps them remember
00:43:23
Speaker
you know, you took an extra second to include that thankfulness and that gratitude and it's just going to keep that connection strong and they're going to more than likely come back and shop with you again because you are grateful and you express that gratitude.
00:43:37
Speaker
Oh, it's so true. That's such a good one.

Acts of Service and Community Building

00:43:39
Speaker
So the next one is to learn to notice and appreciate the small things. While bigger experiences are important, the practice of gratitude can extend to simple everyday pleasures that go unnoticed, such as the hug from a child, laughing with a friend, the sun in the trees, or even just noticing the sky. Like just take a moment.
00:43:56
Speaker
Yeah. And take a deep breath and notice all of the small things around you or the small things that happened that day because the small things are the big things and the small things really add up. And gratitude doesn't have to be huge things. It's just expressing the appreciation for all of those small, beautiful, you know, moments that happen throughout the day. And sometimes we have to be intentional with like opening our eyes, even though our eyes are already open.
00:44:22
Speaker
and paying attention. It's just like our drive to from home to work every day. It's the same every day. And then some days you get to work and you're like, how did I get here? I don't even know who was driving the car the last 10 minutes. um But really being intentional and being like, okay, I'm going to pay attention and look at these houses that I don't see every single day on my drive to work and just appreciate the beauty in things. And so sometimes you really do have to pay attention. Open your eyes.
00:44:49
Speaker
So true. The last one that I put on this list is to volunteer and give to others. One great way to count your blessings and give back those blessings is through acts of service. Giving to others is a great way to consciously live in a state of appreciation for the things we have in our lives. Whether it's donating to a charity, volunteering time to a cause you care about, or even enacting small random acts of kindness to strangers, giving back to others can help strengthen your sense of purpose and strengthen your ties even with your community. Service is huge. And it's time of year. Yeah. Especially this time of year. Especially this time of year. And I do feel like generally people do get more aware of this throughout the holidays and I'm grateful for that too. Just kind of the vibe raises in our communities anyways.
00:45:41
Speaker
But one thing that I love to do is especially say like you're a busy mom and you're a business owner or you're in the treatment room a lot and you're like, I would love to volunteer, but it's not my season to do that. One really simple way that you can do it is when you're at the grocery store and somebody in line in front of you has like super cute boots or something, tell her.
00:46:01
Speaker
and just tell her, you know, hey, I really like your boots or hey, you look so pretty today or just give compliments can be a really great active service that helps, you know, raise the vibration. I'm so glad that you added that in here. And you know what, it it actually makes me remember. So when I first moved to Boise, I was not busy. Like my whole life just changed so drastically. I didn't have my job in Utah at the time and I had, you know, just,
00:46:31
Speaker
the the territory was still in a phase of growing. And so I remember the first and I think even the second year that I had lived here, I participated in a lot of service projects with my church. And I made a habit of doing that. And it was so ah wonderful. I still have just the best memories from doing that. Once I took on my job in Utah, ah five years ago now,
00:46:58
Speaker
Oh, I did not have the time and the energy to do that again. And so I did have to find some smaller ways to give back, you know, even if that is when you're prompted at the grocery store to donate that dollar. I also do enjoy keeping cash with me so that when I am driving downtown, I can, you know, give a dollar, give $5 to people who are holding signs or you know, something like that or just paying for somebody's coffee and mine. And you know, starting that, Tiffany's really good at doing that and like hiding your your coffee things around town is like so cute. And so it doesn't have to be because some of us are just very, very busy. You can find little ways to give back and to volunteer. And another thing that I've started intentionally doing is when I was doing those service projects, I became very aware of all of the different
00:47:58
Speaker
I don't know what the word for it is all of the different like foundations that we had around Boise c to help people and I actually became a volunteer for ah the Women and Children's Alliance and I even used to go volunteer my time. and with them and when I wasn't able to do that anymore, I just promised myself that whenever I had like clothes that I was giving away or something like that, that I would be a little bit more intentional, not that I don't think dropping it off to Goodwill is a good idea because it is. I would take, so what I have started doing is separating out a lot of my business clothes
00:48:37
Speaker
that are very nice sometimes they even have tags because the women things we just buy things and you know that's a whole other thing and I intentionally will call around to the different women's shelters that help women basically um get back on their feet for various reasons. There's a few of them in my city and I intentionally go give to them. And so even, you know, I've just become a little bit more intentional about how I'm doing those types of things. And even that makes a really big difference. So if you are busy and you don't have time to do that, um just find some little ways to do that, like Tiffany's mentioning, or or be a little bit more intentional. If there's something that you're already doing,
00:49:21
Speaker
that even just by making an extra phone call, or taking an extra step could create a little bit more of an intention, a specific intention behind that. and And get aware of the different foundations that you have in your area. It's really eye opening. And I know for me, when I was learning about all of that, and we were literally sitting in church making a list of all of the potential opportunities of the foundations we could help and the things that we could do, I was blown away
00:49:54
Speaker
because we're so in our own lives every day and we're so just like on this path and this is our day and we're going through it that we don't realize how many people around us are hurting and they are struggling and they're in bad situations and and giving back to them and volunteering again it puts you in a place of gratitude and And just, oh my gosh, it's it's truly just the most beautiful heartwarming experience for for everybody involved. And so I do really encourage you guys to just pay a little bit more attention and learn a little bit more about that and be be more intentional. It doesn't have to be anything big.
00:50:33
Speaker
it really doesn't.

Recap and Rapid-Fire Gratitude Questions

00:50:35
Speaker
I'm so glad you brought that up. That gave me so many chills. And I love that. And everybody has kind of their passion. And so even your local animal shelter, or you can go volunteer, you can go walk dogs or go pet kitties, or there's so much that you can do. And so whatever aligns with you and what like fuels you or maybe think back of where you were at one point in your life and where that struggle was and how you can help somebody else who maybe is in that same struggle. That might be your passion right there. Beautiful.
00:51:06
Speaker
yeah Such a good list. So that was really fun. and Such an amazing list. Now what we want to do is some quick fire gratitude questions. And these are kind of random, you guys. I just pulled up some different lists on the internet and just kind of chose some some quick fun ones that I thought that we could do. And of course, whenever we do stuff like this, we challenge you guys to refer back to this and answer these questions for yourself too. So they're going to be pretty rapid fire. I haven't necessarily prethought out my answer. I don't know if Tiffany has, but I don't know. No, either. So this might be kind of funny. i'm Okay, so the first question, what do you find yourself being the most grateful for during your daily gratitude practices? So my thought behind this one is like, maybe what are the first three things that come to mind every single day when you say your first? Mine are my kids, my husband, and just our family, like where we are, yeah every single day. That's really the start.
00:52:08
Speaker
And then I go from there. I'm just so grateful. Isn't that interesting? It's like always the same. Yeah. And really that is always a reminder of like, what am I doing all this for? It's really for my family at the end of the day. i and i I have to remind myself of that sometimes. Like what is my end goal? It's really to, you know, have the time and the energy and be able to financially like provide for my family and have the time to spend with them. And so yeah, let's hear yours.
00:52:38
Speaker
Um, my first is always my house. Like I'm always so grateful to just wake up in a beautiful home. Um, you know, that I love. And then of course my family and my kiddies, those two just go together. My kiddies definitely are my family and my home and then my help, how my help, my help. Love that one. Okay. What is something enjoyable you get to experience every day that you have come to take for granted? Mine is time.
00:53:08
Speaker
Yeah. I've worked really hard at getting my schedule to where I have like time, time for myself, time for my kids, time to do things I enjoy. And sometimes I don't actually a lot of the time lately, I don't appreciate how much time I have. And I think as my kids have gotten older, I'm realizing how quickly time is going. And so time o That's a good one. Take time for granted. What about you? Well, that's a really deep one. I don't know that my mind goes deep when I first, like something I get to experience every day that I've come to take for granted is waking up by myself in my home because I love living alone.
00:53:52
Speaker
And I can say that because when I first moved back to Idaho, I lived with my parents for six months in their basement and and I'm at 30 years old. And so that is actually truly, I remember, like I loved that experience. I was so grateful, but every single day I was like, I cannot wait to wake up alone in my own house, walk out to my kitchen and make my coffee and sit in a quiet space by myself and drink my coffee.
00:54:20
Speaker
And so it's like a small, pleasurable thing that I get to do every day that i I do still sometimes take for granted. And I always remember when I was in that situation when I started my life over here and didn't have that and how how much I actually treasure that. I can resonate with that so deeply because as you and I are like, we know we're t twin flames and probably in ah either a parallel universe or in another life,
00:54:49
Speaker
I either hope to live or have lived the life you're living now. And so I deeply resonate with that because same, just not in this life for me. But I really like a alone time too. And it sounds really lovely to be able to wake up in a house all by myself. Yeah, it is. It is so nicer. It's just,
00:55:15
Speaker
There's something about it and I realize I've come to realize especially the older I've got the fact that You know, i I still haven't remarried. um I don't live with roommates. I don't do any of that. The amount of people who reach out to me and say, like, I dream of living your life, you know, like moms with kids and husbands. They're like, that is so nice because it's like a vacation to them. You know, the thought of doing that. And so I realize that I realize that every morning when I wake up and I do those things, this is a vacation to other people. And it's a normal part of my life. And it is a part of my life that I really do treasure.
00:55:52
Speaker
and like feels the gratitude for it. I love that. yeah Full circle. exactly yeah The next one is, what's a hard lesson that you were grateful to learn?
00:56:05
Speaker
so For me, mine is money management. Earlier in my young adulthood, I was not good with managing my money. and I got myself in some hot water here and there, you know, like opening a credit card when you're 18 and then not paying on it and going to collections and anyways, life. I'm so grateful for those hard lessons now though, because I realized about four months ago, like I am really good with managing my money because I have two businesses I'm running and of course our household and we have just like
00:56:45
Speaker
It feels like some days some money coming in and going out and there's just like lots of different forms of revenue and several bank accounts. And like, I'm really good at managing it because the business is like thriving and we're running. And anyways, I don't know if that makes sense. I'm grateful for those early days of having some hard lessons with money and figuring that out because it really has helped me manage my money well.
00:57:12
Speaker
Yeah, that is such a good one, I love that. i So a hard lesson that I'm grateful to learn, like I don't know how to go, how to not go deep on this one, but literally learning that things can change in an instant. So ah every people are gonna, you're gonna lose people, you're gonna lose your pets, and people are gonna get sick, your life literally can be flipped upside down in a moment. And you never know when it's gonna happen,
00:57:41
Speaker
And that is the hardest and best lesson that I have ever learned. It has changed me in the best ways possible. So, uh, yeah, there's, I don't know if there's any better life lesson than that. Of course, there are all those other little things. Money is a huge one that I'm still learning. Like, ah I still need to learn, ah you know, a lot about that or.
00:58:04
Speaker
you know, like I started thinking, oh, maybe with relationships, I've learned a lot of hard lessons. But I think at the end of the day, just my experience over the last couple of years is your life will be flipped upside down in a second. and You never know when it's going to happen. And it's going to happen to you. If it hasn't happened yet, like it will happen to you. And that's a good hard lesson to learn. Yeah. The next one, what's an aspect of your physical health that you have taken for granted?
00:58:33
Speaker
Um, my diet for sure. That's it. I could get deep, but I won't today, but I mean, I used to be able to just like, you know, eat whatever I wanted and not feel the effects of it. And now that I'm 38, I definitely feel the, the effects of what I put into my body. And, um,
00:58:57
Speaker
You know, movement and exercise is a little bit of that, but I've always been fairly good about that. But so that it's been a hard one and I'm still learning it. Yeah. Yeah. What about you? I'm not sure about this one. I will say as I've gotten older, and my body starts to hurt.
00:59:17
Speaker
We always joke about this, but yeah my hips hurt so bad lately. And that's a whole other conversation, but it does make me, I don't know, just wish that I could go back to when I wasn't 38 and I didn't have all of these problems that you just get when things change, things hurt. um And it's really annoying. So I think that I have taken that for granted. you know you People tell you these things happen when you get older and you don't believe them. who Or you're just like, I'll deal with them then. Well, now it's then. Now it's then and it really does happen. yeah yeah Hey, what is something that's happened this week that you're grateful for? Mine, I did think about this one, is time management. I'm so thankful because we are hosting Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow at our house.
01:00:14
Speaker
And we have a ton of people coming and I'm not stressed at all. And I got up super early yesterday and went to the store right when they opened at 7 a.m. and got all my grocery shopping done. I have our lists and what we're making and just everything leading up to it is because of time management over the last week or so. And you know, last year me or previous years me, I'd be so stressed right now, having people come to our house and thinking about all the things they have to do. And it's really like, I'm there. So I really have, I think you to thank for that because we worked a lot about that. We've talked a lot about that in our mastermind group and little daily practices that have helped with time management have been so helpful on life changing.
01:01:01
Speaker
okay yeah right let's you Well, mine's pretty similar to that, except for it's also just my ability to make my own schedule and decide what I want to do with my time is a huge one because I was telling Tiffany this this morning, I've worked so Monday and Friday were 16 hour days for me so I'm talking.
01:01:21
Speaker
I started work at 8.30 or 9 and I didn't put work away until about 1.30 or 2 and then finally got in bed. But the thing is, is that that was my choice. It's something that I wanted to do and and just because i you know I didn't want to work over the weekend because I was doing other things. and Then I also don't want to have too much on my plate today because I'm also hosting Thanksgiving. right and so ah Kind of the same thing. It's just the ability to have those adjustments and make those types of decisions when I need to and have the ability to do that. I've actually been really grateful. And it it is always something at the top of my list that I'm grateful for is that I get to decide what's happening with my time and my schedule all the time. Even even with work, those are my decisions. That's at the top of my list as well. I'm so very grateful.
01:02:13
Speaker
ye You know, sometimes I think it would be easier when I was finally getting to bed at, you know, two thirty a.m. I was like, man, maybe it would be nice to just work a nine to five. Maybe I should just move back to the Vegas area or go back to Scottsdale and just work in the resorts and just do that.
01:02:28
Speaker
um It sounds really nice. It's not my personality anymore. You know, that's not my path now. Maybe when I'm like, you know, 50, that would be incredible. But um it's it's interesting when you become a business owner or you have a role like I do, you give up a nine to five to work 24 seven, essentially, love to have like an insane schedule, but I still wouldn't trade.
01:02:53
Speaker
that I'm the boss of my time, whether that's good or bad, you know, everything's a little different, but I am so grateful for that. And it comes back to choosing your heart. Either one is hard. Absolutely. We're choosing it. Love that. Yep. So true. Okay. What is the most recent small and simple moment that you are grateful for? Just something that's happened recently.
01:03:17
Speaker
I don't know how recent I, I was thinking my office. So it's been within the last year, but I did this morning before I even read this list in my prayers. I was like, I would get nothing done without my office. And so I was spending gratitude for having this space and I'm so grateful for it. And I didn't even utilize it initially. Like I could have, and it's just come so cozy and I feel so comfortable here and I feel so empowered here. And so I'm so grateful.
01:03:48
Speaker
for my office space. I love that. I think about you and your office often. What about you? So mine is a few weekends ago, and literally just laying on my couch with the with my person. i'm I have an L-shaped couch and we we fell asleep watching the football game. We were watching BYU, which was my brother's favorite team. So that was like,
01:04:15
Speaker
amazing and they won and I was asleep. He was, so I was in asleep right here. Sorry you guys, I like, I realize you can't see my hands, but it's a, it's a sectional, okay? So our heads were in the center and then our bodies were, you know, out from there. And so I, I woke up though and I looked over and my youngest kitten was asleep on him, you know, and the game was on and the team had just won and I just started to cry. I was like, this is just, it's so sweet. You know, after like everything I've been through like this, that was just a moment that I was like, this is just one of those small, sweet moments that I just want to soak in and never forget. It was just so sweet. I like to when I do that, and I'm just like, please never forget this. And I like try to take a mental snapshot. I like to envision like, someday when we're on the other side, I get to replay
01:05:12
Speaker
And as we're like replaying our life, those will be like highlights that I intentionally put there from this life. I love that so much. And that gives me chills just hearing you talk about that. Yeah. I feel the same about those moments. I always like do that. And I just am like, I will never forget this. And I will be able to revisit it someday. Yes. You know that I will. Yes. So cute.
01:05:34
Speaker
okay Okay, what's an aspect of how you were parented for which you are grateful? It's so easy to get caught up in blaming our parents for all of our issues. I'm sorry, but that's life. you didn let me mean That's just how it is. and But what is something that you feel very grateful for and how you were parented? um My parents always taught me to basically from a young age, like you're responsible for you. And yes, they were around. And yes, they parented and raised us, but really like um they taught us how to work and work hard. They taught us to earn our own money and that we were going to be responsible for
01:06:16
Speaker
Um, the things that we wanted. So from a really young age, if I went to school closer, if I wanted to go on a trip, like I had to earn that money. So I, I've always hustled. I've always been hustling, um, for that dollar for the things that I want. And so.
01:06:29
Speaker
And I, and in that, I always understood that because my parents financially couldn't provide those extra things for us, especially my mom, because she was really the consistent, um, financial provider for our family. So I always understood that, but looking back like that is really where my love for work came from and for being able to depend on myself. And yes, I married and yes, you know, we're, have a two-income household, but really at the end of the day, like I still know like I can depend on me, and um I'm really grateful for it. Mine is exactly the same. Exactly the same. I just was raped that way. i it It was never a question.

Gratitude for Work Ethics and Community

01:07:14
Speaker
Me and my siblings were raped that way. We were doing our own laundry when we were 10 years old. we
01:07:19
Speaker
We knew that by the time we turned 15 or 16, we had to get jobs. You could not have a job like that was not an option. So I had two jobs by the time I think within days of turning 16, I had two jobs and.
01:07:35
Speaker
I think the only thing that my dad helped me pay for it was my car insurance and then of course health insurance and I was responsible for my gas if I wanted you know my hair products my makeup like all that I was responsible for all of that so there was you know things that he you know was fine and happy to take care of, but anything additional, I was just taught that work ethic and that hustle. And and thank goodness, you know because it has allowed me to live a very authentic life path. you know I did get married, but then I decided that that wasn't for me. And I really wanted to find myself and live independently and travel and focus on my career and and live a big life. I wouldn't have been able to be on this path
01:08:20
Speaker
if I wasn't raised that way. So yeah, mine is, mine is literally exactly the same. And that's something that I am definitely intentional with how we're raising our kids too, especially in today's world. I think it's even more important now than ever. And so, and my kids get so annoyed when I'm just like, you know, if you really want that, go, you know, empty out your piggy bank, let's see what you've got. And, you know, they bring me dollars and quarters and Thomas is over there counting his nickels and But it's just really valuable because they will, they will, they'll understand it someday. And I know that it will just help them so much in their life. okay Yeah. Couldn't agree more. What's one thing about your job you've been grateful for lately? My team every day. Yes. did you already do that I'm so thankful for my amazing team and um for each individual.
01:09:17
Speaker
person and who they are and the value that they bring and their authenticity and how they just add to Sweet Cheeks as a whole and how our business can run and it wouldn't run without each single one of them. And I'm just every single day. I'm so grateful. That's amazing. Um, Mmm.
01:09:41
Speaker
Mine actually, if I have to be specific about lately, I'm very grateful to still be on the Utah Washington team with Eminence that I'm still a part of that. I have such a small responsibility in Utah now. um But I still get to be a part of that team and that team has made me better also for Idaho and for who I'm responsible for. So I've i've really come to value that team that I'm still a part of and hope to always be a part of. and Having those different perspectives when you're an outside sales rep, you don't, like there's not many of us who have that ability to just get together and share those ideas and what's working and and that. And I have been extremely grateful for the tools that I have been provided through being on that team, especially recently. I really love that.
01:10:32
Speaker
Okay, what aspects of your city or neighborhood are you grateful for? You go first. Well, I live in a gated basically retirement community. but and i butmpressed with it I love it so much. I feel so safe. It's so quiet. I don't have to do any of my lawn care. I live in a beautiful home, but my responsibility there is just like very nil. um And I'm really grateful for that. And then I just have to say like Boise is so great because it's kind of a hub and
01:11:04
Speaker
I can get anywhere that I want to go. you know It might take a minute, but like I can shoot off to Oregon. I can shoot off to North Idaho. The mountains for me to go hiking are about 50 minutes away from me. I can shoot down to Utah easily. I can get to Idaho Falls easily. It's just such an interesting area ah that is it truly to me just feels like this really cool hub for me to get.
01:11:28
Speaker
you know, in any direction within, you know, anywhere from like three to even in seven hours, I can be on the Oregon coast. And I just think that's really cool. That is really cool that I've really not ever considered about voicing. Or to salmon. Yeah. I love driving up to salmon. You know, it's just so interesting how Boise is located that way. Yeah, it is. To get to all the best places in a short amount of time.
01:11:53
Speaker
I love work for me means seven to eight hours so not everybody's going to feel that way. yeah it' still idaho no For me, mine is my small community i'm always so grateful salmon is a very interesting small town and small towns have their quirks.
01:12:12
Speaker
But I'm so grateful just to live in a small community and to be able to, now that my kids are a little bit older, you know, send them down Main Street to go walk and not have to really worry. And also that it's so beautiful here. I'm grateful every single day. And our houses, we live in a subdivision kind of up above town.
01:12:34
Speaker
And the mountains are we're in a valley. So we're surrounded by mountains and trees and we've got the salmon river and it's just so freaking beautiful here. And I know that the salmon valley energy of these mountains and the stories that are stored there for thousands of years, just really integrate into everybody who lives in this community. And so at the end of the day, like a small community is just has my heart because when You know, that we really rally and we're really tight knit and I just love that so much. Salmon is a vibe. Yeah, it is a vibe. I love it. It is my absolute favorite small town. Is it? Yes, it's so special. And it excellent yes, it's because you're there, but it also just, it is a vibe all on its own. It is the cutest place. It's one of my favorite places to visit.
01:13:26
Speaker
so Okay. What's the best thing about your home that you're grateful for and have you enjoyed it recently? For me, it's, uh, this is more recent is I have lately switched my mindset on, we live in a very small house and we have three kids. So there's five of us and a dog in a and And so I'm grateful that we live in a small space because my kids are getting older and very aware of that. I've already mentioned that.
01:13:58
Speaker
And I'm just like, I feel like these walls are holding us tight and close for a reason. And I could get emotional talking about this because I just know that I'm going to blink and then Jack's going to be graduating. And then all of my kids are two years apart. It's going to go so fast and everybody's going to be living their own life. And so I'm just like, we're in this season together. It's tight. It's, you know, my kids don't appreciate it. I hope they will someday. Um, and so I'm just really holding on to like, we're, we're being held close for a reason and I'm so grateful for that.
01:14:35
Speaker
That is cute. I do love that. I love that a lot. And mine is my two things, my vaulted ceilings. So my my home, for whatever reason, every single ceiling is vaulted and I'm obsessed with that. I just have to say that that's really unique and I love it, but I have a sunroom in my house that was like a huge selling point for me. And that's where all my plants are. That is, you know, my library basically. I've got like so many books in there. I really could.
01:15:06
Speaker
turn it into a library if I wanted to and make some money. um And yeah, I just love it. It has huge windows. And it's just such a beautiful, sacred place. It's where Tiki spent

Mutual Appreciation and Friendship

01:15:16
Speaker
her last days. And so it's like a very, very beautiful, sacred, um spiritual place. That's also where I kind of have like my spiritual altar. Like I just have a table with my candles and my crystals and pictures and stuff that Um, feathers, uh, seashells, like just all those types of things that mean a lot to me. Um, so yeah, that's my favorite room in my house and I do spend time in there every morning. I that so much. So good. Okay. Who is one person who makes your life better that you're grateful for? Uh, you.
01:15:51
Speaker
every day. You also grace my prayers very often and I'm so grateful and I know this sounds so cheesy because we're talking to each other and we're on this podcast together and I don't care. I am so grateful for you and I'm just so grateful for the opportunities you provided me with the last year and um I just I could not be more grateful. I'm deeply grateful to have you in my life and how We kind of talked about this last week or maybe it was a week before about where we started in our relationship when I partnered with Eminence and just how we've evolved together and just how the trajectory of our lives came together is just kind of a miracle and so cool and so grateful.
01:16:33
Speaker
I agree with that. I really don't know. I mean, I could have lived out my purpose and my calling without you. I could have, but I i told Tiffany this. I don't know if I've said this before, but a cute girl that we both work with in coaching. the The first time that we did a coaching call with her, she mentioned to me later, she said,
01:16:54
Speaker
you it's so cute to look at you look at Tiffany with so much love and it's it's true like our paths we've been talking about this a lot recently before we even met, our paths were already intertwining. but It's been an interesting conversation. And so you're, yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, you're always at the top of my prayer list too for a hundred different reasons. And it is like such a weird miracle that we both landed on this path and same, I really couldn't do
01:17:30
Speaker
the group without you. I couldn't do the podcast without you. So these callings that I've had on my heart, you know, years ago, would I have thought Tiffany would be the one who was meant to be my partner? No, but for whatever reason,
01:17:44
Speaker
ah you, you are and we knew it, you know, last summer when I was sitting with you, I was like, damn, she's the one that's crazy. happy but Now and then this is just how we have evolved and and our friendship and our relationship is truly just on a ah totally different level. So you are my answer to for sure, like the one person who just makes everything better that I'm so grateful for. We just wouldn't be where each of us are at without each other. No, no.
01:18:13
Speaker
So deeply grateful. Yeah, we don't just say that you guys are in front of each other. No. It is the truth. And that kind of ties into our next one. Who do you think is grateful for you and why?

Reflecting on Impact and Achievements

01:18:27
Speaker
I mean, I would hope that a lot of people are very grateful for me just because of my role as a rep and a coach and all of that and everything that I create and provide and do and you know the education and and my partnerships and everything but like Tiffany really does come to mind too because I know that she's really grateful that years ago I was like you should be a coach, you should make a course, you should write a book, you should do this and at the time she thought that I was crazy but now I really do truly like look at you when you're talking and I'm like I just am so glad that I saw that in you and that you finally listened to it and I know that you're grateful for me because of those random things that I used to say.
01:19:08
Speaker
Absolutely. Yeah, exactly. it You just described it perfectly is that like you've always, and I think pushed me to the edge of my comfort zone, but also more importantly helped instill what you saw in me that I didn't see. And so it's just, it's crazy. And it's just like,
01:19:30
Speaker
A lot of it we can't explain, like you said, and it's just, it goes so much deeper than just this life. I deeply feel that as well between you and I, and we call each other our twin planes because we are, and yeah. Yeah, it's true. It is true. I'm going to skip the second to last one and just move on to the last one because we've both been really busy and so this will be just a good place to land. What is the small success that you had recently?
01:19:58
Speaker
Um, for me, I think it's been all the team building stuff that we've done together as a sweet, as a team for sweet cheeks. Last week we hung Christmas lights together and I had my kids in tow and it was just so fun to do something outside of our norm together.
01:20:15
Speaker
We also had a t ah recently a team photo shoot, and that was really fun. And then we had our event, of course, last week as well. And so all of these things have just really helped nourish and build deeper connections between all of us. And I'm so very, very grateful for it. Yeah, such a good one. but What about you?
01:20:36
Speaker
just podcast. Holy cow, like figuring this out was a really something and it all worked out the way that it needed to but having it back in our lives and having our listeners and just the gratitude that they've expressed is Um, you know, small success, but huge at the same time. So just finally figuring that out. There is still a lot to figure out there is, but just figuring out how to still record, how to have these conversations, how to provide the value, even though the sound quality is not amazing. And you know, we're doing it via zoom and uploading it and whatever.
01:21:13
Speaker
ive just the fact that I figured out how to do that one day was amazing and I'm so grateful for that because it really just ties in everything that we both do and I don't know it it is such an amazing platform and um yeah I just really love it. I'm deeply grateful for it too and deeply grateful to you that you did figure that out and I'm grateful for the time that you and I have again recording these episodes Yeah. Really, really grateful for that. And the conversations that we have and yes, the value that we have to bring um to our listeners, but it's just, I think it's the time that I was missing all summer. Cause we took that season off and

Conclusion and Promotions

01:21:54
Speaker
now being back at it, it's just like, okay. And I think it is feeling like we talked about week before we hit record, both of our creativity and now we're kind of urged to hustle right now. And so at least for me, I know it is.
01:22:10
Speaker
So I really am grateful for that. Yay. Amazing. This was probably one of my favorite episodes. I'm so glad that I asked you about this the other day and that we made this version. And last night doing the research on gratitude that I did was just a good experience in and of itself.
