Recap and Today's Topic: Alignment

00:00:50
Speaker
a month ago, we recorded ah an episode on personal... What did we call that episode?
00:00:59
Speaker
What's the personal development and professional development and how the two go together. And we started to get on the topic of alignment and quickly pulled ourselves back because we could have just talked about that for so much longer. And I said in that episode that we were going to release an episode about that so that we could dive deeper into that. And so that is going to be today's episode today.
00:01:25
Speaker
that we're very, very excited about. So this is about being aligned and empowered and building a beauty career that feels true to you and how that creates success.
00:01:39
Speaker
So in this episode, we're going to be exploring what alignment means in the beauty industry and how staying connected to your purpose, values, and energy leads to more sustainable relationships.
00:01:52
Speaker
success and fulfillment. True, true, true, deep fulfillment. So that's what we're going to be talking about today.

Life Updates and Business Challenges

00:02:01
Speaker
We're so excited. And before we get into all that, we're just going to do a quick personal check-in because our lives have definitely shifted recently as summer is finally here. So Tiffany, tell us what is going on with you and the kiddos and business and all the things.
00:02:19
Speaker
ah To say it has shifted is kind of an understatement. This is the first summer, i think, that has kind of rocked my world when it comes to um kind of harmonizing my work, my two businesses, actually three businesses, right? I've got Sweet Cheeks Waxing and Skin Care that I'm leading and managing.
00:02:41
Speaker
Then got Sweet Cheeks University. And then now we have Beyond Aesthetics and the podcast and my home life, my kids are getting to that age where they're not like little, little anymore, but they're not like big. And I can't like, I can leave them home for like little stretches ah at a time, but not for a long time.
00:02:59
Speaker
time And so, but they're also busy and they're in sports and they're in swimming lessons and all these activities and friends. So that's really kind of like, holy cow, we're not just little. I can't just leave him with the babysitter while I go to work.
00:03:14
Speaker
We kind of have to manage. I feel like i have a lot of balls in the air right now. And it's really great. I love summer. Summer is always my favorite time of year. i live for summer. i live for warm weather and long days and staying up late and just like soaking it all in.
00:03:30
Speaker
And so while I love it, we've had a lot going on and i feel like, what are we in the third week in June? So this is the third ish week of summer, full week of summer that we've had. And I feel like we're kind of getting, okay, we're getting into a routine while letting go of like our school year routine that I've really built my schedule around because it's really, really important to me to have a work schedule where I can still show up fully for not only my husband and my kids and my family, but my, for myself as well. So like I've had to shift my gym routine and I've had to shift
00:04:07
Speaker
where i put in like my personal development work a little bit. So that's just where I've been ah feeling a little chaotic in that, but you know, third weekend we're, we're doing great. So we've had we've traveled a lot. We've been gone every weekend. It's my oldest does all-star baseball. So we've been traveling for baseball tournaments and yeah, but it's been great. And I feel like we in um my business at Sweet Cheeks.
00:04:37
Speaker
We've got a lot of transition happening and shifting happening. So that's been taking a lot of my time and energy as well. It's all really great things though, because it kind of all circles back to my bigger vision and my alignment, which I'm really excited to dive deeper into in this episode.
00:04:55
Speaker
Tell us about you. wow What have you been doing? Yeah. I mean, kind of same. I also live for summer, and so we're definitely soulmates that way. i feel like my life just is all I'm always waiting for summer. And so now that it's here, i couldn't be happier. The schedule definitely changes for me. It's been a good thing. It's really allowed me to uh, step back.
00:05:18
Speaker
I actually do only work about part-time in the summer. I try to take a lot of time off and not work nearly as much, which has been so good for me. I've needed a lot of rest. I was at a point where I was sleeping five hours a night and it just was impossible. I'm like, I have too much to do. i don't have and to even like sleep the way that I needed to. And so I kind of kicked that off with a trip this past week and I had a little bit of work going on.
00:05:48
Speaker
and but there was a lot of time in between the work things that I had going on in North Idaho, which is my favorite place. And so, I ended up renting this really cool Airbnb on one of my favorite lakes and just sleeping and hiking and reading. And I checked out, I just sat in out of office and um the most work conversation i had was with you, which was extremely minimal. And that was just so good for me to rest and take a step back and
00:06:20
Speaker
um be in my favorite place. And, um, and now that I'm home, I'm kind of where you're at with like, what am I doing with my schedule now? So that's kind of what I need to figure out is, you know, how does that look for the summer?
00:06:35
Speaker
And then also, how is that going to look moving forward? Because what I was doing wasn't working and just trying to figure all of that out. But yeah, I just, I love summer. i love having more time off. I love camping and hiking and,
00:06:49
Speaker
spending time outside and spending a lot of time with family. And it's just such a fun time of year. And I am excited that I don't have as much on my plate. I'm feeling just a little bit more at ease and that brings more creativity, right? And taking a step back also so allows me, and I know you two did like quite question a lot of things and get back into alignment with things and like how does you know how do things look moving forward so I'm really looking forward to it I definitely feel like having more time off and um the amount of time that I end up spending in nature during the summer
00:07:29
Speaker
i is introspective for me. I'm always really ready to go back into a schedule. Like come September, it is kind of a relief when, you know, and now I'm like, okay, it's back into a little bit more of like ah a schedule and, you know, the grind is a little bit more set in stone. I do think that that feels really good, but man, there's just something so nice about taking a step back and reconnecting with yourself. Um,
00:07:57
Speaker
Even if it's really busy, there's set there's just an energy about summer that's just so great. Yeah. I think it's so necessary for everyone to do at certain points in their life, even if maybe summer isn't your season to do that. it is necessary to, and sometimes we have to force ourselves. Sometimes we have to say no to things, even things that we love to do to allow the space and the time to kind of reset or re-question and not only evaluate how things will look, but how things feel, right?

Alignment in Business and Personal Life

00:08:29
Speaker
maybe it looks like we, we work towards this ideal schedule or we work towards this ideal life, but it's not feeling right in our body. And that's a sign that it is out of alignment. Yeah, absolutely. And you know, it just kind of makes me think because new year's is such a big time for us to like that break and then doing the reflection and moving forward. So summer halfway point for you to just kind of check in with that in a whole completely different season and energy and,
00:08:57
Speaker
ah re-evaluate some things. Yeah. Love it. Yeah. But life is good. Life is really, really good. So I'm very happy and I can tell that you're very happy too.
00:09:08
Speaker
Oh my gosh. It comes from our soul. It really does. Sunshine and warm It really a reset.
00:09:18
Speaker
it really is a reason Cool. Well, I know that you're really excited about this episode too. And of course, um I think we've both been alluding to what this, obviously we told you what the episode is all about, but even just our little personal check-ins kind of lead into this entire conversation too.
00:09:37
Speaker
So Tiff, has there ever been a moment where you felt out of alignment in your beauty career that you would want to share with us? um Absolutely. I mean, I've had several moments, but the biggest one that comes to mind is my most recent one.
00:09:54
Speaker
And that was really this late fall, winter time for my skincare business, Sweet Cheeks, on really, really realizing and me having a really truthful, honest conversation with myself about where I had grown my business and And it was like the goal to have this big team and to have these services. And as you guys know, or maybe you don't know, a couple of years ago, we expanded our physical space of the business. We added on a whole nother treatment room. We doubled our size and doubled our retail area. So that was all part of the plan. And I'd been working so hard at that. And so with that physical expansion of the space at Sweet Cheeks, I thought, well, it just makes sense to grow the team and let's more than double it. And let's, um,
00:10:46
Speaker
And I did that with a knowing that um it felt right because I did want to create this. I still do want to create this beautiful space for talented professionals to come and work yeah and work within their craft and to serve their unique set of clients and for with the business to serve as a whole.
00:11:07
Speaker
But what got me out of alignment and what I didn't realize until I was actually in it is I did it without intention on actually letting that serve the business.
00:11:21
Speaker
And so what started to happen is our numbers kind of started to dip because I had attracted, um you know, this, this team i had, I had bent my own, um,
00:11:35
Speaker
um my own expectations and what I really wanted for my team to me kind of where they were at instead of really standing firm on what I wanted. I still know what I want and I still, um, and I did know what I want at the same, at that time, but I was really just kind of bending to meet them whether I, so I, I attracted these um part of my team who only wanted to work very part-time and that wasn't part of my vision. Right. But I still allowed that to come into the business.
00:12:07
Speaker
And then it really wasn't serving sweet cheeks. It wasn't serving our clientele. It wasn't serving this beautiful space that we had expanded into and it wasn't working. And for a while I was like, why isn't this working? Because I checked all the boxes. I had done everything in my vision, but I'd done it without actual aligned intention.
00:12:28
Speaker
if that makes any sense. And so we got into a place at Sweet Cheeks where we had this big, you know, team. And from the outside, it looked really thriving. But when I really was honest with myself, it was not thriving from the inside.
00:12:41
Speaker
We were actually losing money. We weren't serving our clientele to the best of our ability because we were kind of all over the map. And our clientele, our clients actually ended up a little bit confused. Like what is going on here? Who am I coming to for services?
00:12:54
Speaker
um So that's where I found myself out of alignment for my vision for this company. Um, and it just was a hard conversation that I had to have with myself and had to realign cause it didn't feel right. It did. It felt like things were slipping through the cracks. It felt like I was kind of spiraling out of control and I didn't really know i was getting off course, if that makes any sense.
00:13:19
Speaker
And, so we had to realign and I had to make some hard decisions, um, that were just hard. They were hard to pivot the business again. And so we kind of had to, contract back down from this expansion that we, that I had bound myself in with this business. And so we had to just contract as, as really successful businesses do, you know, they expand and they contract and they expand and contract. And so we're just like, we've been in this contraction phase and now we've
00:13:54
Speaker
I've worked really hard to work on our numbers and work on our um expenses and really um make the time that our service providers are in the treatment room, make it most beneficial for not only our clients, but for them and their paycheck and for the business as a whole and make sure that this business is actually profiting. Because if the business doesn't profit, then there's no business for my employees to come to work. There's no business to serve our clients that we, know, is the why behind the business in the first place. So all of these things actually matter.
00:14:27
Speaker
And so now we're getting ready to kind of go back into an expansion phase because we've contracted. And that was, you know, it's not saying it was easy. It was really hard, was necessary.
00:14:39
Speaker
ah um And so circling back to alignment, it was just how Things didn't work. They weren't working and maybe they were working for a while and I didn't realize it. But very quickly when you're out of alignment, things either, it's just, you come up against resistance and friction and it's hard and it doesn't feel right in your body and you're questioning yourself.
00:15:02
Speaker
And that's where I was late this fall and this winter. And I just, You know, at first I was like, why isn't this working as part of the plan? And then I had to really go deep and discover why. And it was, you know, it was clear to me when I did do that.
00:15:17
Speaker
Yeah. I love that. I've watched that happen with you and it has been really cool. The conversations that we've had more recently, just about who we're looking for and what we're looking for now and how solid you're really standing. And that is definitely going to serve you for sure. And building a more sustainable and profitable business.
00:15:40
Speaker
Yeah. I'm really proud of you actually very, very proud that conversation that we had that one day was super powerful. So Yeah. And it's, it's even, I questioned myself, like, well, like we had that conversation that day and I was like, well, you know, I could, I could bend a little bit on my expectations of what I want. Mm-hmm.
00:15:59
Speaker
but is that going to serve me in the ra long run? And in my gut, I know that it won't because I do just have this very clear vision of who I want for my team, what I want for this business, where we want to go. And I really do like my goal is to build a legacy and I know legacies last generations.
00:16:15
Speaker
And that is my goal for this business is I want this business to outlast me and my lifetime. And so I'm really working hard to stay in alignment and do things smart that I didn't do in the beginning years.
00:16:29
Speaker
or even we'll call it a decade of running this business. I've kind of had to work backwards a lot. And I've talked about that on this podcast. um So yeah. What about you though? I am curious what your story, I kind of have an idea of maybe what you're going to share. Okay. I have,
00:16:44
Speaker
Yeah, I have two different things that I want to share. And the first one was the story that I had shared about me getting let go back in school that I was working at in Arizona.
00:16:56
Speaker
And that was the first thing that came to mind because the reason why there was so much friction and so much like resistance and I just felt like I was walking through mud and I was confused is because I was so out of alignment with the position that I was in.
00:17:11
Speaker
i love being an instructor, but the the actual curriculum was completely out of alignment with what I knew to be true of the industry and what I knew that those students really needed.
00:17:23
Speaker
So that's you know something that I always think about is that it it just was so out of alignment that of course, it ended with friction. Of course, it just did not end in a good way.
00:17:36
Speaker
And I knew it very quickly too. i was like, this is just not who I am. This is not what i believe in And I don't believe that we're really offering what, you know, the student body needs to be successful.
00:17:51
Speaker
And so that was super out of alignment. Um, but you know, the other thing that I want to share, I'm curious what you're thinking of, but this is something that has been on my mind very, very heavily recently. And I've shared it with ah the people who are closest to me is, you know, my role with eminence is very interesting because because with eminence, we are more of a business partnership than just like open an account and here's your product and good luck with everything. your success or is my success depends on your success.
00:18:23
Speaker
And, um, and so it's this really beautiful relationship. What also can tend to be very involved with that is a lot of mentoring and consulting yeah and coaching. And, you know, especially with the smaller skincare businesses, the solo estheticians and the smaller businesses,
00:18:43
Speaker
So, you know, what ended up happening for me over, i mean, it it started happening probably about four-ish years ago. i started to get very burned out and exhausted and disheartened because I would kind of go in and I would offer up so much advice and so much like retailing knowledge and business advice and coaching advice. And basically what I'm doing for ah business now, i was giving that away for free.
00:19:11
Speaker
But it wasn't being received the way that it is now because i was being seen as this is just part, like this just comes with my account with eminence.
00:19:24
Speaker
And i there was a while, Tiffany knows this, where I was very confused about if I could even stay in the role anymore because i just was so burned out by the whole thing. And it was very disheartening when I was like, I know I can help you.
00:19:40
Speaker
And I'm giving you all of me and I'm giving you all of the tools, but you're not doing anything with it. You know, um, that's why I started this business. Right. So it was so out of alignment because I was like, gosh, I have so much to offer, but like people aren't listening to me.
00:19:57
Speaker
Even on my social media page with Eminence, I have a very big following. And every time that I would try to give any type of like retailing advice or coaching or try to have those conversations, it was not received well. There was like...
00:20:12
Speaker
There are certain content that my followers followers there want to hear and see. And it was starting to build up inside of me that I just was like, man, but I want to talk about these things. I have so much more to offer.
00:20:27
Speaker
and um And it was getting really hard for me. And so, you know, luckily with Tiffany pushing me, I did start that mastermind groups. And then we started the podcast and it has just felt so good. And it has felt, uh, there's a lot of ease in our business because it is just so aligned.
00:20:48
Speaker
Um, and so that was my other example is I was like really on the verge of, um, I was burned out all the time. I mean, I will say that like I even had health problems for in 2022 that summer, i had to really get honest with myself ah because it was now physically affecting me because there was just so much like resistance in a way because I just was not living in my purpose. And when I was, it wasn't even being received really well. And so yeah,
00:21:18
Speaker
i Yeah. So that's just been a huge, huge shift in my life is just deciding that I had to realign and you know start a business where people would have to pay for what I want to say, or I had to like start a whole separate Instagram account to say what I wanted to say and just kind of trust that the people who...
00:21:40
Speaker
we're aligned, we're going to end up there. You know what I mean? And they have in our business actually to a point where that's kind of what we have to question is where we're going from here because it's like very busy.
00:21:52
Speaker
um And so those are kind of the two main things that really came to mind for me. And it's very similar to you where you're, when you're in that misalignment, and of course, this is something we're going to talk about, but things just are like, they're not going well. There's no ease anymore and you're burned out and exhausted and you lose a lot of, you know, creativity and, um,

Attracting Success Through Alignment

00:22:19
Speaker
yeah. So, I mean, there's definitely signs, there's yeah really signs and we're, that is going to be a huge topic today. yeah.
00:22:29
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. For sure. And those are big ones. And what's interesting is like what in your case and probably mine, too, is both of those situations, even though those were like what decades apart or at least a solid decade apart. Is it both really kind of set you up for where you're at now when you are in alignment? And so misalignment kind of, if you're in tune with yourself and if you're really honest with yourself can lead it to your true alignment. So that's a sign too.
00:22:58
Speaker
Yes. And we're going to talk about that today too. So we were really going to give you guys serious tools today. Like this is going to be an episode that you're going to want to download, save it, re-listen to it and literally take notes. We've got journal prompts. We've got like, we've got it all. So this is going to be a very power packed tool oriented, and introspective episode. Um, so let's just go ahead and get into it. you know, success is not about doing more. It's actually about what is doing right for you and alignment matters more than ever in today's beauty industry. And there is
00:23:39
Speaker
so many reasons for that. I'll give you why I think, and then Tiffany, you can add anything to this or kind of piggyback on this, but we're kind of pumping out estheticians at a wild rate, which is good. Trust me, there's more than enough business to go around. This is a huge industry. It's a key driver for the economy. So no problem. We're not saturated or anything like that, but we do have a lot of new people coming out.
00:24:07
Speaker
Um, you know And that being said, there's good examples and bad examples of what success can mean in this industry.
00:24:20
Speaker
you know so that's a really big one. I kind of watch a lot of people coming out of school being really misaligned because they're following really bad examples. And we'll talk more about that later. um But you know the other reason is that it is such a huge growing industry and We have so many people wanting to get started on their skincare routine and having that be a part of their life.
00:24:43
Speaker
And where there are also so many other beauty professionals, the more aligned and authentic you are that's how you're going to attract the right clientele to you. and where And so you have to be really aligned with who you are and and your vision,
00:24:59
Speaker
And your values in order to attract that right clientele to you, which is very, very different than what you see online usually, right? When you're like following esthetician influencers and it makes success look one way when that's not the...
00:25:17
Speaker
the case really success is very different. Success is relationship based in person relationship. And of course your followers. And so being in alignment with who you are is how you're going to attract that. Does that make sense? Did I word that clearly?
00:25:34
Speaker
oh yeah. And it has me thinking of the quote, um, no one is you and that is your superpower. And so really I hold onto that because there are there is someone, there are people out there who are yawning for your exact like special sauce, for who you are at your core or what you have to offer and what you have to give. There are very specific people and it's probably like even on a soul contract level, much deeper than we can even comprehend tiny little humans.
00:26:07
Speaker
And so when you show up in alignment as your true self, fully in your authenticity, even if no one, especially actually, if no one else is doing it out there, like you can do it or like you want to do it, that is going to attract those people who are yearning and praying and searching and wanting exactly what you have to give. And that's like the core of of, being in alignment and being authentic.
00:26:35
Speaker
That's really what it, what it means. And so, um, you know, it's really easy to, like you said, to get caught up in what everyone else is doing and to perceive that it's successful for them, especially with social media.
00:26:48
Speaker
And honestly, and we've talked about this before and Jess sees like numbers of, you know, their accounts, like actual numbers. And like, you know, just because somebody has a huge following on social media doesn't That following does not equate the number in their bank account or the the monthly revenue that they're bringing in. And so we want to keep you know that in mind.
00:27:08
Speaker
But it really, really does matter. And it it really is going to attract those ideal clients who will pay your prices or will um, you know, kind of soak up what you have to offer because they're wanting that.
00:27:21
Speaker
huh You know what it kind of makes me think of, and you and I have not ever really had this conversation, but there are a lot of esthetician coaches in the industry. You know, and so i I'll come across them every once in a while and then I'll get on their page and, you know, kind of check them out. And then I have to remind myself that we have our own special sauce. In fact, there are some that I would love to have on the podcast, believe it or not.
00:27:47
Speaker
ah Because what we have, like we are so solid in who we are and what we have to offer because we tie in the mental, emotional, the spiritual, you know, all those personal things with the business things.
00:28:01
Speaker
And our our vision is just a little bit different and how we work with people is very different. And there's room for all of it. And so it's even something that we we go through just in this exact position or like other podcasts and different things like that.
00:28:15
Speaker
And, uh, it, we have, we're so aligned and on board with who we are and what we have to offer that that type of stuff, I'm literally cheering these people on. And then I jump back into r lane, you know, so it is very much to like staying in your lane and not comparing yourself, you know, and looking to other people really just for inspiration. Right. And, and admiring them for what they're doing and then jumping back into your lane. Um, and as long as you're really aligned, that makes it a whole heck of a lot easier. I think when you are not aligned is when it gets very easy to look at other people and compare yourself to them or feel somewhat like threatened by them.
00:29:04
Speaker
yeah. And so that's a huge piece too. And that's also going to be a huge indicator that you're not super solid in your alignment. If you're comparing yourself to everybody else, I think that that can be a ah flag.
00:29:18
Speaker
Oh yeah. That should be a big red flag or a sign that you're out of alignment when you do feel threatened or where you do like kind of get off of your own highway, like you said, or your own lane. And then you start to follow the masses or follow whoever you perceive to be successful.
00:29:33
Speaker
it And you're doing it just out of maybe like a fear base. Like if, if I don't jump on this train or if I'm not doing it, like she's doing it, then I'm going to sink or I'm going to tank. But I'm fully aware that like we're not for everybody. And I don't, it's always been my goal. I don't want to be for everybody.
00:29:50
Speaker
And there's, ah you know, there's somebody out there that is specific to so-and-so and what they need. And then there's people out there that really need what we do and the way that we do it. And same thing with my skincare business. Like I don't want to be for everybody. And there's like, I think that's just like a specialness that kind of helps you niche down And sets you apart and it keeps you really authentic and it keeps you on brand. So yeah, I'm glad brought that And that's a really good point. In fact, we've never attracted anybody to us who wasn't for us and very aligned with diving so much deeper the way that we do to make true lasting change.
00:30:30
Speaker
And, you know, if if we wanted to attract to everybody, then we're going to attract people who aren't for us. And that is literally in your aesthetics business, too, and in your career, how you get burned out and then you take off and you leave the industry because.
00:30:48
Speaker
you're, you've attracted everybody. And too many of those people just aren't aligned with you too. And, and again, these are things that we'll, we'll dive a little bit deeper into as well, but that's why it's so important in today's industry. There's so many estheticians, so many beauty businesses, and there's also so many clients.
00:31:07
Speaker
And so in order to attract the right people to you and build a career for yourself, that feels really good and has longevity, then we need to stay in alignment. Absolutely.
00:31:18
Speaker
And authenticity. So what does alignment actually mean? um in simple terms, it's mind, body, and career being very in sync. So being an integrity with who you are and how you show up in your work, it's when your energy purpose and business practices are all working very cohesively together rather than pulling you in different directions.
00:31:41
Speaker
So there's going to be different types of alignment. There's personal alignment when you feel grounded, clear, and confident in your choices, and you're not constantly second guessing or comparing yourselves, just like we were talking about.
00:31:54
Speaker
And then there's professional alignment, your services, your schedule, your pricing, and your marketing. They reflect your strengths and your values and your mission. not what others are doing or what you think you should be doing, quote unquote, should. We're going to talk about that word a lot today.
00:32:11
Speaker
And then there's energetic alignment. You're working with the kind of clients and in the kind of environment that lights you up rather than drains you. The amount of people that we have had to shift their environment Yeah. It's a normal thing, you know, and, and you guys just heard me say, I've been there too. I've been in environments that I was like, Nope, this is not serving me.
00:32:39
Speaker
And so we work with a lot of people like that too. and, and so that's a really normal thing and a huge like leap of faith, uh, that you're going to have to take when your environment is really out of alignment for you too.
00:32:53
Speaker
So here's just some different examples that can happen in our beauty space, taking on clients who drain versus energize you. Again, when you're attracting everybody, that's going to happen. If you end up with all of these clients who are not in alignment with you, you're always going to probably have some like here and there, and that's fine. But When you have this abundance of clients who are just draining you all the time, instead of feeling very fulfilled with the people that you're working with, then that's going to be i a a really big example. Like I think that's the number one example.
00:33:35
Speaker
Another really big example is marketing in ways that feel authentic versus forced or what is trendy. This is a big one.
00:33:47
Speaker
Like I cannot emphasize this one enough. I said that the other one was more important, but I think this one is like extremely close is just like we were saying earlier, if you're watching everybody else on social media, especially, which is impossible not to do. Yeah.
00:34:05
Speaker
I mean, I have so much compassion for the estheticians who, are participating in marketing that's actually working against them because I'm like, this is just what you see, you know? And so like, there's no blame here. i don't, I don't, I do put down a lot of influencers. I try not to name names, but like I watch the people that are following them, like all these other estheticians that are following these trends. And I'm like, you are,
00:34:35
Speaker
killing your career right now, because what you're doing is actually completely out of alignment with the success that you're looking for, right? Because we're just watching other people on social media do certain types of marketing and, you know, post certain types of things. And then we do it.
00:34:51
Speaker
And I look at that from an observer's perspective, like a coach and a, you know, a longtime esthetician. And I'm like, ah,
00:35:01
Speaker
This is working against you. It's so hard. And I have so much compassion for that. But when you're out of alignment, then that's really easy to do because you're just like throwing spaghetti at a wall and watching what other people are doing and then just repeating it because because you don't know.
00:35:18
Speaker
Yeah. And I, I agree. I have so much compassion, especially for like all these little baby estheticians. And I mean, baby by like young who like graduate high school and they go straight to esthetician school. So these are like our 18, 19, 20, you know, early 20 year olds who look to these influencers for inspiration and advice and as guides and, you know, like we're sponges, right? So we absorb what we're seeing on our feet. And then the, if the algorithm is continuing to show us these things and, you know, in your early twenties, your prefrontal cortex isn't even fully developed yet. And so, and then it links back to your identity. You know, you don't really even know who you are yet at your core.
00:36:00
Speaker
And so it's really, really easy to get influenced. And that's where my compassion lies yeah for all of these, all of these estheticians that are just soaking it up and think that that's the way and that they're looking to these guides. And so, but why I think what you said, marketing in ways that feel um authentic versus forced or what is trendy is more important than taking on clients who drain versus energize you because the way you market and the way you show up is what's going to attract those clients, good or bad.
00:36:28
Speaker
And so it's that's why it really is kind of number one on a way to check yourself. Absolutely. and then the next one is pricing and schedules that reflect your real goals, you know? yeah,
00:36:44
Speaker
that's ah That's a huge one. That's something we have to work through with every single one of our coaching clients, whether or not you're in a group or whether or not you're doing one-on-one, it's something that is just so necessary to you know dive into. So when you're really aligned and you're very clear, ah then your pricing and your schedule is the first thing that we want to take a ah look at. you know So when that's feeling really off to you, then yeah, that that's another really good sign that you are out of alignment or...
00:37:11
Speaker
Or that we're looking for alignment, right? so So the question, the reflection question for you after this first section, a good reflection journal is, does your current business or position reflect your values and vision or just what you think you should quote unquote should Yeah.
00:37:33
Speaker
So we really want you guys write that shit down and really reflect on it. It's so important. So does your current business or position reflect your values and vision?
00:37:48
Speaker
Or is it just what you think you should be doing? Because that's the number one thing that we but especially like myself when I'm out, you know, with eminence working with estheticians to the amount of people who are like, you should be, you know, doing this or, and and I'm like, um, no, you shouldn't. That is not who you are.
00:38:09
Speaker
No, that's not even in alignment with who you are. So it's something that we really, really want you guys to do some deep reflection on. So section number two, How do we find alignment,

Finding and Maintaining Alignment

00:38:23
Speaker
right?
00:38:23
Speaker
Especially if you're a newbie, you know, you're young, you're just coming into this and you're like, what are you guys talking about? We are going to teach you We have very, very action oriented i points here that we're going to have you walk through. So some of you might do this already.
00:38:42
Speaker
This might be new for some people, um, or this is a really great thing to revisit for a lot of you who have already done some of this work. So, you know, alignment also is not found in one big leap. You don't just suddenly fall into alignment.
00:38:57
Speaker
It is uncovered with time and small intentional steps back to yourself. I'm going to say that again, because that is very powerful. It is uncovered with time in small intentional steps back to yourself.
00:39:15
Speaker
Okay. You are at your core. Yeah. When we say yourself, that is who you are at your core. And for some of you maybe you haven't even uncovered that yet, or maybe you haven't shown that to eat the world. Maybe it's only been to your friends and family, maybe not even there.
00:39:32
Speaker
Right. So really it's who you are at your core. Yeah. You know, when you close your eyes, who is it behind those eyelids? What is in there?
00:39:44
Speaker
Who is in there? What is that energy that is in there? That is who you are. That is your soul. That is your essence. And who is that? Okay. So this is something that I have done. I actually added in this practice that I have been doing myself for a long time. i had somebody, i had a therapist years ago do this with me as well.
00:40:08
Speaker
And I have really found that this type of practice, it's actually something we've started implementing in a lot of our coaching as well. We really want to help people what or state if you already have them, your life and daily values and priorities. Okay.
00:40:28
Speaker
so I'm going to give you guys examples here. Let's talk about daily priorities. So, you know, when I have been out working with people with eminence for the last 12 years, and I sit down with solo estheticians who are so out of alignment and they're so burned out and they're so overwhelmed, i have to take them back to this practice.
00:40:48
Speaker
And that is where, what are your priorities? Like, what are these daily priorities for you? So here's what ideally they look like. Now, depending on where you're at in life, this can be a little bit different. So just take this as an example. Okay. This is just an example.
00:41:08
Speaker
Let's say that your number one priority is your higher power, whatever we want to call this. Um, I just call this my spirituality. Like that's my number one daily priority, right? So your higher power, however you want to think of that number two, you,
00:41:25
Speaker
Okay, higher power first. Number two is you. Number three is your family. Yes, I said that correctly. You are first, then it's your family.
00:41:36
Speaker
And then let's say maybe it's work. Now this is just an example. However, I do you feel like you need to take care of yourself first before you can really take care of your family or work. Right. And we do definitely preach that i having that time for yourself and making yourself a priority. So so let's just say that that is maybe how your priorities look. So number one, higher power. Number two, yourself. Number three, your family. Number four, work. Well, guess what?
00:42:04
Speaker
If we break that down a little bit deeper, which is the next step, how is that going to look? So again, here's just some examples. So let's say in the example of higher power being number one, well, what does that look like for you on a daily and weekly basis? Well, that means that meditation is a priority, daily prayer is a priority, and maybe that I do weekly church services, you know, if if you're part of an organized religion, right?
00:42:32
Speaker
Let's say as an example for number two, being yourself. Well, my daily workouts are super important to me. Spending time in nature, you know, journaling. Oh man, our last mastermind group, like the journaling thing with them was so it became their number one life. pre It was amazing. It was so cool. youd seen And then that was like a huge priority in their daily life. All a sudden we didn't even prompt them to do it. It was so cool.
00:42:57
Speaker
and So let's just say that that's what that looks like for you. You know, when we're saying I'm the second priority here, well, what does that mean to you? It means working out time in nature, journaling, whatever. Those are just some examples.
00:43:09
Speaker
Number three, we said could be family. Well, what might that mean for you? Well, that every Monday night is family night or that family always comes first, right? If I'm given an option, if there's something going on with my family or there's something else, well, family comes first, right? So we know that.
00:43:27
Speaker
Now, number four being work. Well, what might that mean to you? Well, maybe that means that I am reaching my service and sales goals every single week or, you know, whatever. It doesn't matter.
00:43:38
Speaker
But when you know those top three to four daily priorities, and then you have actually broken that down to what that really means for you, that makes decision making so much easier.
00:43:52
Speaker
It just makes life flow a little bit better when you prioritize those those deep, huge priorities, right? i'm Now, next, we're going to dive into values. So- Can I ah add something real quick before we get into values?
00:44:11
Speaker
So you know what ends up happening for, especially the people that we work with that are out of alignment, their priority priorities are backwards there. It's usually looks like work is number one, because we have to work to pay the bills to feed our family.
00:44:29
Speaker
And then, you know, it might be family next. And usually their, their personal, their self is at the very end of the list. And so we see that ah time and time again, and that's why they're burnout. And that's why they're dreading going to work. And that's why they're not making the money that they should or could be making. And that's why they're just struggling and coming up with friction because our priorities are just misaligned.
00:44:56
Speaker
So just wanted to add that in. So really be honest with yourself when you are going through this list and on not where you think the priority should be, but really where they need to be.
00:45:09
Speaker
Yes, that is such a good point. And it's true that as soon as we can get them to shift those priorities, um man, the amount of ease and confidence and just you know, overall peace that they start to have in their life is just night and day.
00:45:25
Speaker
And it's really easy, you know, so just like Tiffany said, check it in with yourself on where are your priorities actually at right now? And then how can we shift those priorities to create more ease and create more peace and come back into alignment in our life. I mean, we've talked about this before, but as soon as Tiffany and I started putting our higher power and ourself first, there was more success, more happiness and the family, more ease, more peace, more joy, more fulfillment by just switching those things up. And it's
00:46:08
Speaker
and yeah it's not hard. I don't, I mean, i guess it kind of depends on your routine. i guess I would say that it it does depend, but um man, it is he gets a game changer.
00:46:20
Speaker
It's such a game changer. i don't think it's hard. i think for me when, cause for me, for the longest time, my higher power and myself were at the very back end of the list. They were on the back burner. They were like, I'll get to that someday, but it's not, you know, I didn't think it was priority. I don't think it's hard. But I didn't have anything to draw attention to it until I started going to therapy and until I really started doing this spiritual work and like rediscovering myself.
00:46:48
Speaker
And so it really wasn't hard to reshift that. It just was like, I didn't know what I didn't know. True. That's a very good point. That is a very, very good point. Okay. So we love that. Makes so life ah a million times easier when you actually have your priorities in line.
00:47:04
Speaker
So next let's talk about values. This is basically just kind of finding what your life and kind of daily values are. So we're kind of looking for like words here.
00:47:16
Speaker
English is leaving me English, like verbs terms. i don't know what were the adjectives. I don't know. and So the examples that I wrote down are kindness, evolving, service, honesty, joy, happiness, peace, et cetera. Right.
00:47:34
Speaker
Um, I mean, feel free to do a little internet search on finding those values. we We have done an activity before with one of our groups that kind of helped them to identify these. That was really fun.
00:47:47
Speaker
But when you can kind of nail down your top like three to four values, that's going to make decision making really easy too, right? That's going to bring more ease into your life so that everything that we do can be in alignment with what our values actually r You know, if one of our values is to continue to evolve, then you're going to have to make these decisions that are going to continue to evolve you.
00:48:16
Speaker
If honesty is a huge part of your value system, then every time that you come across, you know, yourself maybe wanting to be dishonest or making a decision about, do I do the honest thing here? Do I not do the honest thing here? Well, honesty is a value. So we're going to, we're just going to lay it out on the table and we're going to be really honest. So being able to just identify those values are super, super it important.
00:48:46
Speaker
Yeah, it's kind of a rubber band. Yeah, kind of like when you're like getting stretched for whatever reason, and the universe will show you reasons. If you define the values and really want to stand by them, then definitely the universe is going to show you ways that you can either really anchor into those values or not And if you say you are who you say you are, then it's going to kind of be like a rubber band and it's going to kind of pull you back to those values each time.
00:49:15
Speaker
Yeah. But we're going to ask about my values. What are some of yours? ah Consistency for sure. Peace is such a big daily value of mine and actually freedom.
00:49:30
Speaker
Hell yeah. That's why we're soulmates. Yeah. ah What are yours? know freedom. freedom oh Freedom is definitely so at the top of my list, but you know what? So is joy.
00:49:42
Speaker
is joy. And I mean,
00:49:47
Speaker
I just cannot imagine. And I have, of course, been through times like when I go through really hard times. The reason why I want to work through it so fast is because I want to feel joy ah again.
00:49:59
Speaker
I'm like, no, I know what that feels like. And I want to feel like that every day. i believe that we're here to have joy. Yes. Even through the hard times, I feel like we're just here to have joy. And that is just a part of the human experience that we're here to, to really just dive into and and experience and embody. So freedom is huge for me. Joy is really huge for me and service, like really ah helping people, you know, whatever, whatever that looks like. Cause I think it looks different all the time, but, and then kindness.
00:50:33
Speaker
Oh, my gosh, God. kindness is so huge for me just being as kind as possible and seeing people yeah you know what I mean just seeing them at their core or as like like we had this conversation yesterday with one of our clients like really envisioning them as their inner child especially if it's like a difficult situation or it's a difficult person it makes it just so much easier to like navigate that that whatever it is yeah yeah
00:51:03
Speaker
Yeah. do that I love those. Yeah. So those are two activities that we encourage you guys to do because once you have those nailed down, then alignment is going to come so much easier for you.
00:51:16
Speaker
Now, here are some other steps that you can take. Number one, reflect honestly, what parts of your business or position feel heavy, forced, or draining?
00:51:28
Speaker
and then what lights you up even on hard days? That's an important one because it's doesn't, you know, we build this life to really have this beautiful life and have this beautiful career. But I think even myself included, we get in our head about like, okay, when we do achieve that, everything's just going to be easy and it's just going to be rainbows and kittens and we're going be floating on clouds.
00:51:52
Speaker
That's actually not the point of life. There's still going to be tough days, even when you are living in your alignment and when you're, you know, have this beautiful career that fills you up. So that's such an important question. I'm so glad that it's on here is what lights you up, even on the tough days, what helps you continue to show up and stay in your purpose, even on those hard days.
00:52:15
Speaker
Yeah. Number two, visualize your ideal day from morning to night. What does an aligned workday look like? Who are you with and what are you doing?
00:52:25
Speaker
Let this vision guide decisions around scheduling service menu, or even your pricing. This is actually ah practice that we take all of our coaching clients through. It's part of the,
00:52:38
Speaker
ah insight and clarity workbook that we have, that we have people go through. If you're doing a coaching package or the mastermind is to really dive into what does a day look like? What does a week look like? And what does a month look like? So really visualize your ideal day and let that really guide your decisions when it comes to your scheduling service menu and definitely your pricing as well.
00:53:02
Speaker
Oh, Number three, check your energy after client sessions or business tasks ask, did that energize me or deplete me? The more aligned you are the more energized you feel doing your work.
00:53:17
Speaker
And that kind of comes back to like, okay, there's still going to be tasks or, um, whatever in your business that are going to feel tasky, or they're going to, um, be still considered work, right?
00:53:31
Speaker
But really, and it should feel like once you complete those tasks or you're done with those tasks, you should feel lighter and you should feel proud of yourself and maybe even a little bit more confident because you did those hard things within the business.
00:53:45
Speaker
So don't get confused on like, I have to do all this admin work and I hate numbers and da, da, da, da. But really like lean into how it feels on the other side. of that hard task.
00:53:57
Speaker
does that make sense? It makes a lot of sense. And not only that, but I do not enjoy any tasks, like not one. i don't like them. And both of my jobs are extremely tasky. So all three businesses are very, very, very tasky.
00:54:13
Speaker
Now, some of them i outsource, right? Like Tiffany, Tiffany enjoys tasks. So sometimes I'll have her do some things or my little sister works for me and she loves tasks. So there is, you know, potential of outsourcing some things at the same time. When one affirmation that I use regularly, usually on the daily is, um, that I complete tasks with ease because I know that they are part of my bigger vision and my purpose.
00:54:46
Speaker
So sometimes those tasks, like, I mean, I'm sorry if you hate numbers, but However, that's a huge part of your business and your purpose and your vision. And so like Tiffany's saying, lean into it.
00:55:03
Speaker
You know, even if they are tasky, I mean, outsource things that make you want to poke holes in you. But there are some tasks that I really embrace now and I work hard to just embrace them and change my energy in the way that I feel about it. Cause I'm like, Hey, but this is like part of the bigger picture.
00:55:26
Speaker
And so that's okay. So i want to really lean into that. So there's a lot of things that I don't outsource because i i just see that as being such a ah part of my bigger picture.
00:55:38
Speaker
Well, and you know the value behind it on learning it yourself or mastering it yourself. It's really going to serve your goals for the business and you as a whole. And so, and they get easier, you know, the more you do them, some of those tasks that we don't understand at first are it's just really confusing.
00:55:55
Speaker
or headache inducing, but you know, just a little bit of practice. Yeah, definitely. And then the next one is trust. Anyway, so I'm going to before we move on, cause that conversation kind of went all over the place, but so just because a task drains you, um, you're going to have to check in, like really check into that energy. I do think it is important to actually make a list of all the things you don't like doing We do have coaching clients do this too. And it's part of the workbook too. Like those things that you don't like doing, you know, is this like, could we outsource it? Can we change the way that we feel about it? Is this a time management issue?
00:56:34
Speaker
Like make a list of those things that you really don't enjoy and then check yourself on all of that. Like, is there a solution or could somebody else do that for me?
00:56:44
Speaker
Or is it something that I need to learn how to lean into and really embrace because it is part of my bigger picture? And maybe we just need to even need to like create the space on our schedule to do the task. And that's how we keep doing it because we actually don't have time yeah penciled in to do the task.
00:57:01
Speaker
Yeah. Yep. So lots of different ways that we can look at that, but knowing what they are is extremely important. And then number four, learn to really trust your intuition. Alignment often shows up as peace, clarity, or even curiosity and never panic or pressure or tension or knots in your stomach.
00:57:21
Speaker
Um, if something is not sitting right, explore why. before forcing yourself to do it. So really learn to lean into your inner person, lean into yourself and really trust your intuition because when you're in alignment, you definitely should feel a lot of peace and clarity and curiosity and things.
00:57:45
Speaker
um And if you're not, then again, there's a really good chance that there's just something that's really out of alignment, especially if it's something that continues to come up. There's always going to be parts of our job that are just a little bit more difficult. Nobody likes difficult conversations and nobody likes paying taxes and all that kind of stuff.
00:58:05
Speaker
um You know, at the same time, if there are, if it's a continual thing, if if you continually are coming up against a lot of tension or panic or pressure, that is a sure sign that there is something that's really off.
00:58:22
Speaker
Mm-hmm.
00:58:25
Speaker
So warning signs of misalignment, constant burnout or overwhelm. You know, what's so interesting is that even when I get overwhelmed and I know that you feel the same, I'm very confident what I'm about to say, i am still, I'm also extremely grateful, you know? So I think when you're overwhelmed and you're panicky or you have like extreme anxiety, that's not good.
00:58:50
Speaker
But being overwhelmed and grateful Yeah. And fulfilled. That's good. So constant burnout or overwhelmed that is accompanied by tons of anxiety or feeling tons of pressure and stuff like that. That's a sign of misalignment. But if you're overwhelmed and grateful and fulfilled, I think that's all right. I think you're I think you're doing pretty good.
00:59:14
Speaker
A really big one is resentment toward clients or other people that you work with, right? Could be other team members, um could be many things, but resentment towards our clients or people that we work with.
00:59:26
Speaker
And then confusion about what to post, say, or sell. is a really good one, right? And that's, we already talked about that, but it's kind of a given. Feeling like you're copying others instead of just being inspired. And then of course we would add in comparing yourself to others. If you're in that constant state of copying and comparing and insecurity, instead of looking at somebody else and being like, yeah, girl, you go.
00:59:51
Speaker
Cause you want to know what, if you, it's really interesting. I mean, that is such a massive sign of alignment and personal growth. When you can look at somebody who's doing something similar to what you do and you were like, oh hell yeah, girl, you are freaking killing it. Like go you, what that actually means is that, you know, well, and judgment is the same thing or like comparison. When you look at somebody,
01:00:18
Speaker
And you see that they're doing something that you like really love that shows a lot of confidence now, but also at the same time, when you look at someone and you have a little bit of comparison, you need to recognize that what you recognize in others means it's possible for you.
01:00:37
Speaker
So you really want to lean into that, that that judgment or that insecurity that you feel. the thing you have to realize is that because you noticed it,
01:00:52
Speaker
That's a great sign. So what we want to do instead of feeling that judgment or feeling that insecurity is saying, oh, you go, you go. And I can have that too in my own way.
01:01:06
Speaker
You know, it's just a reflection. It's a reflection. The world is a mirror. The world is a mirror and it's also a catalog. You know, so if you see someone else that has something amazing and you're like, oh, I want that.
01:01:18
Speaker
No. Oh, I want that. Yeah. She can have it or you can have it. I can too. I can have it. Exactly. Such a powerful shift. Uh, and that's, you know, when you're in alignment, it it is easier to feel that way too.
01:01:35
Speaker
Now also undercharging or overgiving to prove your worth. Oh yeah. So that is definitely a huge warning sign of being misaligned. We know we're not charging what we're worth or we're just giving a little bit too much because we're trying to prove our worth instead of just being very in alignment and very sure, very grounded, very clear of who we are and what we have to offer and just charging that and knowing that those right people are going to show up for us.
01:02:05
Speaker
Yeah. I would say that comes from a place of desperation and we're chasing rather than attracting. And so that's, you know, misalignment as well. Absolutely. Okay. So how do we reconnect and realign?
01:02:22
Speaker
So this is going to be another section where we're going to have a lot of tactical tools for you. So tactical and intuitive tools. We have some journal prompts for how to reconnect and realign.
01:02:35
Speaker
So the first one is going to be yeah first journal prompt. What does a fully aligned day look like for me? We already kind of talked about that. The next one is what part of my business makes me feel the most lit up.
01:02:51
Speaker
Okay. So those are just. What sets you on fire. Yeah. For us, it's our like coaching calls in our podcast. Holy cow. It's just. Oh my gosh. There's nothing like it. No.
01:03:04
Speaker
ah But really identify that for you as a beauty professional. So what does a fully aligned day look like for you? And we're not just talking about work. I'm talking, what do you want to do before work and after work too?
01:03:17
Speaker
And then then that next question was what part of my business or what part of my career makes me feel the most lit up? hey Now, also we want to do energetic self checks before our client sessions. So just check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Where's your energy at? i Definitely refer back to our energy in the treatment room episode is really helpful.
01:03:42
Speaker
And then revisiting your pricing policies and niche through the lens of alignment first.
01:03:51
Speaker
And so I think an easy way to do that would to be go back you your priorities and and your daily values that you kind of work through. And you can journal through this as well.
01:04:03
Speaker
And then like just like you just said, revisiting your current pricing prices, your current policy, what your niche is, and then having those priorities and those daily values now as a lens to look at it really honestly and can kind of help you navigate that.
01:04:20
Speaker
her Definitely. And then letting go shoulds. and tuning into your truth. So this next section is going to be about the word should. It's probably one of my up a lot least favorite words in the English language. I wish we could get away from it. It's kind of like the word try. I'm like, no, you're going to do it or you're not going to do it. I mean, just like Yoda, there's no, I don't like that word either. i don't like the word can't.
01:04:53
Speaker
And should is definitely up there on my list. So actually in our coaching sessions, when this comes up, we do usually try to stop it in its tracks. I mean, in ah as loving ways we possibly can and just get them to kind of reframe it really quickly. So we we try not to really allow that word or we'll again, like reframe it. And I call this shooting all over yourself because that's like literally what you're doing. So the word should can carry a very heavy and often very disempowering energy, ah especially for beauty professionals navigating their careers and their personal lives.
01:05:31
Speaker
um It is very disempowering. So the word should is a warning sign. It often means we're living by someone else's rules and not our own truth. And should a silent thief of authenticity.
01:05:44
Speaker
We really want to replace this with could or choose in order to be able to take our power back. The word should implies obligation without a conscious choice that often stems from outside pressure, such as I should post on Instagram every day.
01:06:02
Speaker
Industry norms. I should offer this treatment because everybody else does. guilt or comparison. I should be further along by now. So when we are defaulting to the word should, we're really disconnecting from our alignment.

Recognizing and Realigning Misalignment

01:06:22
Speaker
I also would venture to say that should and also, um, shine light on you know, at your core, you're not living up to your full potential.
01:06:34
Speaker
You know that you're not putting in the work that you know you need to do You know that you're not showing up for yourself. You know that that your priorities are out or misaligned or out of order. There's a that's kind of layered. There's a lot there.
01:06:47
Speaker
But I know for me, when should comes up for me, it's really because at my core, I know that I'm not doing the work that I know I need to do. Yeah. It can be that.
01:06:58
Speaker
Yeah. And it can also be that you're allowing other people to make those decisions for you. So what I think is important is when we start to use that word ourselves is that we do check in and say, do I feel like I should do something because I see other people doing it you Am I saying I should do something because am actually out of alignment and I do want to, you know, be waking up earlier every day or whatever that is?
01:07:31
Speaker
I think either way, you definitely are. It's a sign that you are out of alignment. For sure. And either way, um, elicits an honest conversation with yourself. Yes. 100%. I love that so much.
01:07:44
Speaker
So how do we shift our language? So ask yourself if I didn't feel like I should, would I want to? Exactly. who What do I choose to do? Because it feels aligned and not expected.
01:08:01
Speaker
Who am I trying to please or prove something to by doing this? So those are some questions to ask yourself when the word should starts to come up for you.
01:08:12
Speaker
Now we should replace the word should with I could. This creates possibility and choice. It is very empowering.
01:08:23
Speaker
We could say i choose to, which is going to anchor in intention. It's aligned for me too. And that is going to reconnect you with our purpose. So we're placing should with I could, i choose to, or it's aligned for me dot, dot. All right. so very important conversation. It's interesting that one word carries so much weight and is such a huge sign that something's out of alignment.
01:08:57
Speaker
And it really don't want and to know the answers to those shifts from should to could choose or is this the line for me, then you. And so it's really important here to not look for outside validation when you're having this honest conversation with yourself and really lean into how it feels, how it, you know, could feel if you were to choose to do the things that you feel like you should.
01:09:24
Speaker
you were to choose that and say, do you really want to? How would that feel? Would you really reach your goals quicker if you were to lean into that? And only only you are are you're going to know that. Yes. No one else can answer that for you. And that's sometimes hard for people. Mm-hmm.
01:09:41
Speaker
Very. And that's the point of alignment. Only you know this, right? So that is such a great point. If you're consistently checking for outside validation or asking other people for their opinions, then you're still out of alignment with yourself. Alignment is just your heart. Your soul has nothing to do with other people.
01:10:04
Speaker
so this is deep work. your personal work and it leads to your professional work, your professional development, but really it's you, babe. on you So true.
01:10:17
Speaker
Okay. So realignment in action. So we have lots of examples of people that we have worked with who would, you know, shift their hours, change messaging, stop offering a service,
01:10:32
Speaker
you know, leave one job and move to another because things were out of alignment. We were wanting to think of like specific ones, but the truth is that this is what we do. So, uh, this is basically everybody in our coaching groups and everybody that we've ever done one-on-one coaching with is usually in some form of misalignment and through our work together,
01:10:56
Speaker
You know, the biggest thing that we do is bring people back into alignment, help them find that alignment, stay in that alignment and be able to better recognize what they are out of it.
01:11:07
Speaker
And so there's many examples that we've had of people who so there is a most recent one who was still working at a job that was, quote unquote, stable.
01:11:20
Speaker
And it and she also had a treatment room on the side. And as we were working together, it just became so much more apparent how out of alignment or the, you know, the quote unquote secure job was And as soon as we realized that and could start moving forward with putting more focus, not just into her business, but as we were working together, so many other things came up. She was like, I want to be an educator and I want to do this and I want to do this. Like all these things started to come up for her that were so much more in alignment.
01:11:57
Speaker
And because of that work that we were doing on all those types of things, she ended up leaving her job one month earlier than she actually had planned. And the the confidence and the peace and the overall joy and light that is in her eyes now is just so much different.
01:12:17
Speaker
But it's a really good example. I'm working on this with another one of our friends right now who's trying to leave her secure, quote unquote, secure job because she's starting to build so much security in her treatment room and so much more money, so much faster.
01:12:31
Speaker
and you know That's just a really good example of how when you can like shift and come more into alignment, that if things fall together very quickly, and then you're just in such a better place of peace and peace.
01:12:49
Speaker
I don't Trust. Yeah. Surrender. Surrender. Everything just works out so much better and, and success comes faster. But also that's been our experience too. So with our coaching business and our podcast, it was really interesting how maybe four or five months ago we sat down and had our alignment and vision.
01:13:09
Speaker
meeting and literally starting just days after that, everything skyrocketed and has just been going, you know, growing faster than we actually ever even anticipated, because we just got so in alignment, you know, and, ah we're able to, uh,
01:13:29
Speaker
bring that branding all together and the messaging all together. And it's just been a really cool example of ours personally, just watching how much that skyrocketed everything.
01:13:39
Speaker
Exactly. So we do invite you guys to reflect on how tiny pivots can create big peace, but also maybe there are some really big ones that you need to make too.
01:13:52
Speaker
Yeah. Just saying. And sometimes it is hard. Very It can be hard. It doesn't mean it's not the right decision just because it's hard though. Yeah. You know, if you do need to pivot or if you do need to shift, or maybe you do need to leave the job because maybe you're working for a company that is so out of alignment from who you are at your core as a beauty professional, you know.
01:14:14
Speaker
those things could come up for you and probably already maybe know within your core. So yeah. Yeah. Right. So it could be those big things, but again, it can be the small things like shifting your hours, raising your prices, taking something off of your menu, ah changing your messaging, redoing your branding. It can be just those smaller things too.
01:14:36
Speaker
Yeah. Mm-hmm. So now let's talk about alignment and authenticity as an actual business strategy, because as a beauty professional, it is your best business strategy.
01:14:49
Speaker
Staying in alignment and authenticity isn't just a feel good concept. It's your most powerful business strategy. When you build your brand services and client experience around who you truly are, you attract your community and clients and you create a lot of trust.
01:15:04
Speaker
So yeah. In this industry, clients are not just booking a facial anymore. They're actually booking you. You know, we are in an era of everybody has a personal brand because of social media, you know, and so that's really what people are looking for and how you're going to draw your people to you.
01:15:21
Speaker
So, you know, it's your energy, your values, your unique way of making them feel seen and supported. And just if your overall energy and personality really speaks to somebody.
01:15:33
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. It's it's really like your, it's your niche. And like we talked about in the beginning of this episode, how estheticians really are coming into the industry at rapid rates.
01:15:45
Speaker
And when you're able to really define who you are and who your brand is and be in alignment with that, and then show up authentically within that, it really does set you apart. And again, it attracts your ideal clients right to you and your business and everything just kind of flows.
01:16:02
Speaker
Yes, absolutely.
01:16:07
Speaker
it also keeps you from burning out yeah and trying to be someone that you're not. Yeah.
01:16:14
Speaker
And we see that come up a lot. out and that And it's, um you know, we, especially if you're a beauty professional who truly, truly loves what you do,
01:16:28
Speaker
And you want to make a career out of this and you want this longevity within this career. We don't want to see burnout. You and I both have reached burnout in our careers and we know what that feels like.
01:16:39
Speaker
And we know the hard work that you have to put into, you know, backtrack and could get out of that burnout and that constant state of overwhelm. And we don't want to see that for any esthetician. We want you to be so successful and we want you to wake up and absolutely be so excited to go to work and not dread going to work. And we want you to do this, you know, for a career and make massive money doing it. Right. Yeah, absolutely. And I think that's really just the best part of this career is that we're here to help people and serve people. And we do get to build our career ah around being very authentic,
01:17:19
Speaker
especially these days, right? And creating kind of our own branding that's attracting people to us. And so it's such a great opportunity and time to be in this field. And it's only going to continue on this path from here.
01:17:34
Speaker
um and we want you to build a life that you love, like Tiffany said, as really our goal. And you know who we are as coaches is a quality of life thing. It's it's life and career as a beauty professional for sure.
01:17:51
Speaker
Oh, so good. Okay. Some closing thoughts for y'all. Alignment is not a destination. It is a daily practice. And like we were saying earlier, it is really is some of the deepest work you're ever going to do because you can't outsource alignment. You can't ask other people for help and alignment. I mean, you might want to ask other people what they feel like your strengths are, but that's not, I mean, i don't even encourage you to do that necessarily in this case, as much as like,
01:18:20
Speaker
I really encourage people to learn to sit with themselves and learn how to tune in with themselves. It's just a very easy form of meditation to close your eyes and feel into that essence that is sitting behind your eyes, observing your life. That's you. That is your soul.
01:18:39
Speaker
And learning how to just tap into that and relax into it is such a beautiful experience. And that's how you get answers for things too, you know, and they can, and they're really, sometimes that's really funny.
01:18:52
Speaker
Sometimes it's really powerful. And some of the answers that you get are like, dude, just go open the door, you know, or like, um, no, you don't need to do that. So when you can really learn to tune into your, your essence and your inner voice and tune into yourself and,
01:19:07
Speaker
not need to ask for that outside validation. But that is really what alignment is all about, which is also why we had to make a whole episode about it and not just like sprinkle it into a personal development episode.
01:19:19
Speaker
So it is a daily practice. And it's also something that you kind of have to through over time to like, you just have to be able to check in with yourself. And that's why we also wanted to include like, here's the signs of burnout so that, you know, like, okay, here's the signs that something is out of alignment.
01:19:42
Speaker
So we really encourage you guys to do one thing today that brings you back to yourself. Maybe you need to go for a walk or Go for a drive and listen to your favorite song or, you know, pray tonight before you go to bed, whatever that really looks like.
01:19:59
Speaker
ah But do something that just invites you back to yourself.
01:20:06
Speaker
And then a journal reflection or something to share on Instagram. ah Share what alignment looks like in your beauty business right now. We would really, really love to hear it and see it It would make our whole day.
01:20:20
Speaker
Absolutely. And in affirmation for the week, I honor the version of me that built this and I trust the version of me who is ready to evolve. Oh, I love that.
01:20:33
Speaker
Alignment really is a state of being. And of course it's going to shift as we grow and as we evolve. And, um, you know, it's, it's not just a uh, like you said, it's not a destination, but it's also not just like the steady constant state either.
01:20:54
Speaker
It's going to, um, it might shift for you when you're in alignment, you might be in alignment here. And then a couple years down the road, you might start to reach that burnout. You might start to feel overwhelmed. You might start to feel it in your body. Like, Oh, you know, this isn't quite working like it used to.
01:21:10
Speaker
And so that's another sign that you might be out of alignment. Yeah. But it's always evolving just like you are. Yeah, definitely. All right. Well, that was an amazing episode. Such a good conversation. I'm so glad that we made that happen. and So we're a day late releasing an episode. We just got a little bit off with our summer schedules because we both needed to take some time and we'll never apologize for that either.
01:21:37
Speaker
So no we definitely want to stay consistent and stay on a schedule. But, you know, every now and then family or time off definitely comes first. And we're actually both pretty good at upholding our boundaries with that. I'm really proud of us.
01:21:50
Speaker
but I am too. But we do plan to continue to just release as normal throughout the summer. We have made that

Podcast Impact and Future Plans

01:21:57
Speaker
possible. We have it on our schedule so that we can keep up with things. But if we do ever get off, we'll definitely just let you guys know so that you know what to anticipate and what to expect.
01:22:06
Speaker
