Daily Bible Reading with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching (Audio only)

Happy Sunday, everyone! Today we will be reading Numbers 10-11. We will  read about God's people complaining about not having meat again and  Moses feeling overwhelmed by the big responsibility of leading so many people by himself. We will see God affirm His ability to provide 600,000  men (plus women and children) with enough meat to eat for a MONTH and  care for Moses by taking some of the Spirit that was upon him and  putting it on the 70 leaders to alleviate Moses' burden. In a prophetic  hope, Moses wished that God's Spirit would be upon ALL the people, and  now, with God's Holy Spirit that was sent by Jesus to be our comforter  and helper, we have exactly that! God is so loving in His provision and care for us!

Introduction to Daily Bible Reading Event

00:00:03
Speaker
Hi there, everyone. Welcome to February 2nd, 2025. And you are here with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching, and we're here for our daily Bible reading.

Choosing the Day by Day Kids Bible

00:00:13
Speaker
We are reading the entire Bible in one year, and we are using the Day by Day Kids Bible. We are using this Bible because it is written in storybook form, and it is written in chronological order.
00:00:28
Speaker
And it is a big overview of everything from Genesis clear to Revelation. And it is also written in a day by day format like a devotional. So it has marked out readings for January to December, the whole year.

Suggestions for Bible Purchase and Resources

00:00:45
Speaker
And if you are interested in following along with your own copy, you can find that on Amazon. And I would encourage anybody who is joining this event to have their own copy so that they can sometimes either reread, sometimes it's easier if you just see it, or if you are just interested in having it in your collection, then that would be where you could find it is on Amazon. I have my daily calendar today. I have marked off my February 2nd.
00:01:14
Speaker
If you are just joining this event, then I want you to know that I have the calendar available for download on my website. And that's.com and it's under a daily Bible reading. And I have that there as a download for you.

Humorous Recording Mishap

00:01:38
Speaker
Ah!
00:01:40
Speaker
I had this whole thing recorded and then ah I pushed a button and I was trying to clear the the survey question that pops up occasionally after I record this via Zoom.
00:01:55
Speaker
and it wants to know how my recording experience was. And I'm trying to click X because I don't want to click great every time. And i can't I'm clicking this X and I can't figure out why it won't go away. And for some reason, my cursor, I guess, was on the um processing portion box and it deleted it. And my and my survey question was still there. It wouldn't go away.
00:02:24
Speaker
until the other thing had gone. So I had a feeling that was gonna happen. I've had one of those days.

Podcast Distribution Efforts

00:02:32
Speaker
my My truck wouldn't start today. I thought it was the battery, had a loose connection. My husband finally figured that out for me, but I ended up taking his car to work today.
00:02:44
Speaker
And I am just, I've been working on my site all day with getting this event posted on every podcasting site that I can get hooked up with. So this podcast, ah this event is now posted live. ah it's It is not live, but it is posted and the RSS feed is live for regular updating to Apple Music, Amazon Music,
00:03:11
Speaker
and youtube podcasting so it's available on youtube music so if you have apps that you use to listen to podcasts you can find them there it's in the zencaster app it's on oncast it's on pod friend and it's on ah something else i can't remember what also goes along with the apple podcasting that it puts it with So I'm just feeling a little tired. I was tired before I started, but I was in a really, uh... I was really conversational. Now I'm just feeling like, ah! And I'm so tired.

Discussion on Reading Numbers 10 and 11

00:03:50
Speaker
so I want to get reading with us today. If you are joining me for the first time, thank you so much for being here. And ah this is a little bit how our podcasting sessions go, how our event goes, where I'm conversational with you. I don't edit the videos. I share who I am with you. And I just want you to know you're dealing with a real person here. With real life stuff.
00:04:21
Speaker
So we are going to be reading today out of numbers 10 and 11 and ah it may seem like, well, what happened to the other chapters? Well, remember this Bible is chronological. So today our entry takes us ah to Numbers 10 and 11. And yesterday, we started with Numbers 1 through 3 and Chapter 8. So this is where we're picking up. So if you ever feel like there are more details that you would like to know about and you are curious about that, then always, I want to encourage you to go pick up your big Bible and to head to those chapters that we are reading in that day and to see what details are ah included that are not included in our overview story.
00:05:08
Speaker
They will be ah there will be details, but and you won't miss the storyline. So you will still see what happened. So what will be cut short is like if there are a lot of rules given that are very specific like ceremonial rules or something like that. But it won't cut out the actual story of what it is that's happening in the event wise.
00:05:32
Speaker
So today, ah also I was, before I started reading our and entry for today, I was feeling very frustrated because I'm that person that doesn't want to stop doing what I'm doing until I finish it. So I'm sorry that this ah video is so late coming tonight. It's because I was trying to finish ah working on my event cards. I've been making these cards to hand out to people when I talk with them.
00:06:01
Speaker
so that I don't have to write things down and they don't have to write things down. And I can just hand them a postcard with the event information as to what we're doing and where they can find it um online. And I thought it was done and I was so excited. And then I remembered, oh, I don't have a description on there. ah So I was trying to do it. But there is so much that goes into into every little project. So there's formatting, trying to get the spacing right and everything. and I just could not finish it. I tried. So I was feeling a little frustrated about the fact that I didn't get to finish what my task was. Cause I don't like to stop doing something until I've absolutely finished it. And and I was so close, but I'm not that close enough where I could keep going without making this video any later. So I want to thank you for your patience tonight. And I'm sorry that the video is so late getting out there, but that is why.
00:07:01
Speaker
I was unable to tear myself away from my project.
00:07:07
Speaker
I'll have to show you guys the postcard when I get it done because I end up talking with a lot of people at work and I have a couple of you that are viewing that I have from work and and I'm really excited about that because it's talking with you guys ah that is my opportunity to share this event and and you guys are here. So thank you.
00:07:27
Speaker
Oh, I also wanted to announce that we have ah people who have been watching the entire time this year in one month, we finished January. And so we have Jeannie and Julie and Diamond and Pearl and Jedi and Forest. Yes, that is it. And I have perfect attendance ah gifts coming for you. They will be arriving ah tomorrow.
00:07:57
Speaker
and uh for me and so some of them i will be sending out directly from ah my house but genie you have a perfect attendance award coming or not award gift for your ah participation every day this month coming in the mail surprise No, I told you it was coming. I told you I would have something but I'm telling you that i I've actually sent it. I wasn't gonna say anything but I'm not good so sometimes about keeping secret like that. I just want you to know it's coming so you can be excited and be looking for that to come. I told the kids and Julie that theirs would be coming in a couple of days. All right, let's get reading here. We are into our video here and there's more than just the seven of us sometimes.
00:08:48
Speaker
I'm so glad you're all here with me. Thank you. See, I'm already feeling better. I was feeling a little formal as I tried to remember to re-say everything I had already said once before. Where are we? Okay, numbers 10. Silver horns. Make two silver horns, said God. Use them to call the people together.
00:09:15
Speaker
Use them to tell the people to start traveling. Sometimes both horns will blow. Then the people should get together in front of the worship tent. Sometimes they'll hear one horn. Then only the leaders should come. There's a time when one blow of the horn will sound. Then the family groups to the east should start traveling.
00:09:43
Speaker
then another horn blow will sound. That means the groups on the south should start out, but make a different sound on the horn to call people together. You might have to fight against an enemy. You should also blow your horns then. Aaron's sons will blow the horns. Then God will save you from your enemies. Blow the horns when you have holidays too.
00:10:13
Speaker
You will be showing your joy. It was the second year after the Jews left Egypt. It was in the middle of spring. The cloud lifted up from the worship tent. So God's people started traveling. Now Moses' wife had a brother. Moses told him, we're going to the land God promised. Come with us. We'll be good to you. God has promised to give us good things.
00:10:41
Speaker
No, said the brother, I'll go back to my own land. Please don't go, said Moses. You know the desert. You know the good places to camp. So come with us and we'll share the good things God gives us. So they left the mountain and they traveled for three days and God's cloud was with them. God's cloud covered the worship tent when it was set up. All night, it looked like fire.
00:11:11
Speaker
When the cloud moved, the people moved. Wherever the clouds stopped, the people camped. If the clouds stayed there, the Sometimes the clouds stayed a few days and sometimes it stayed for only one night. The people of Levi would carry the ark box. When the special box started out, Moses would say, please get up God, send your enemies running here and there.
00:11:40
Speaker
And when the Ark came back to camp, he said, come back God, come to your people who are too many to count.

Complaints, God's Anger, and Moses' Burden

00:11:49
Speaker
Numbers 11, piles of quail. Now the people made a fuss about how hard their life was. God heard them and he got angry. Then fire came from him and it burned part of the edge of the camp.
00:12:10
Speaker
The people cried to Moses. Moses prayed to God. Then the fire stopped burning. So they named that place burning. Now some of the people wanted different food.
00:12:24
Speaker
We wish we had meat to eat, they said. We remember the fish we had in Egypt. We got it free. We ate cucumbers and melons. We had leeks and onions and garlic. But now we don't even like to eat. We don't see any food but this manna. The manna would come every night when the dew came.
00:12:49
Speaker
The people would cook the manna in pots, or they would make cakes out of it, and it tasted like it was made with olive oil. Moses heard all of the people fussing at the doors of their tents. God was very angry with them. And Moses was upset. Why did you send me this trouble? He asked God. What did I do to make you unhappy with me? You've made me lead all these people.
00:13:15
Speaker
They're a heavy load. Am I their father? Where can I get meat for them? They keep telling me to get some meat. I can't take care of them by myself. Is this the way it's going to be? Just let me die right now. God said, bring the 70 leaders to the worship tent. They can stand there with you. I'll come and talk with you.
00:13:44
Speaker
Then I'll take some of the spirit that is on you. I'll put the spirit upon them too. They'll help you carry this heavy load. Tell the people to get ready, said God. Tell them I'll give them meat. Tomorrow they'll eat it, but they won't eat it for just one or two nights. They won't just eat it for five, 10, or 20 days. They'll eat it for a whole month.
00:14:14
Speaker
They'll eat it until it comes out their noses. They'll eat it until they hate it. It's because they turned against God. They made a fuss about having to leave Egypt. There are 600,000 men, said Moses. Let's say you give them meat, but let's say we killed all the sheep and cows. That wouldn't be enough meat for a whole month.
00:14:41
Speaker
What if we caught all the fish in the sea? That still wouldn't be enough. But God said, am I not strong enough to do this? Just watch, see if what I say comes true or not. So Moses told the people what God said. He took the 70 leaders to the worship tent. Then God came down in the cloud and he talked with Moses.
00:15:07
Speaker
He took some of the spirit that was upon Moses and he put it upon the 70 leaders. Then the leaders began speaking messages from God. Now two men had stayed in the camp and they were leaders. So the spirit came upon them too. And they started speaking messages from God right there in camp. A young man ran to tell Moses about it. Two men are telling God's plans in camp, he said.
00:15:37
Speaker
joseph so Joshua was Moses' helper. He had been with moat been Moses' his helper since he was young. And he said, Moses, stop the two men. But Moses said, I wish all the people could speak messages from God. I wish God would put his spirit upon all of them. Then Moses and the leaders went back to camp.
00:16:03
Speaker
God sent a wind to blow from the sea. It blew small birds called quail into camp. There were lots of quail. They piled up three feet high. They covered the ground. The people gathered baskets full of quail. But while the people ate, God got mad at them. He made them get sick. People who had made a fuss about the food died.
00:16:33
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading for today. I forgot to talk about things that I should have talked about in the first recording. And I think that that is why the recording ended up getting deleted. So as I was reading and I was thinking, ah, I didn't say anything about that. I think that I feel much better now. I know I feel much better now because now I see that that recording is not the one that should have been done.
00:17:01
Speaker
Even though I thought it was, it wasn't. And God said to do it again. So I'm doing it again. And I feel a lot happier now that I know what I but i missed. Because I was worried about not remembering the things that I had said and being able to repeat them. And it doesn't matter because I needed to say other things. So I want to give God the glory for that right away. So what I wanted to talk about was um
00:17:32
Speaker
A couple of things. One, that Moses went to God when the people were complaining about not having food that they wanted that was different. And it was very frustrating to Moses because he had a heavy burden. And he went to God about the people.
00:17:53
Speaker
And you God alleviated Moses' burden. He said that he would take the 70 leaders, and he would put some of the spirit that was upon Moses on them. And when the two leaders in camp started speaking, and they ah the someone came and told about it, and Joshua wanted him to stop, Moses said, I wish God would put his spirit upon everybody.
00:18:20
Speaker
And that's exactly what he has done. He has given us the Holy Spirit after Jesus was crucified and was an ascendant. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit for us. He is our helper, and he he is with us. And so I i was very um excited about that. And even when I read it the first time, I thought that was amazing.
00:18:47
Speaker
and ah
00:18:50
Speaker
I love how when Moses was asking ah God about the meat, and God said he would bring them so much meat, it would come out of their noses.

Moses' Doubts and God's Assurance

00:19:02
Speaker
That made me laugh. It it wasn't really funny, funny, but it was was funny because he says, fine, you want it? I'll give you more than you will ever want, and you'll hate it.
00:19:14
Speaker
for complaining about it. And I i just thought that that was um very amazing because Moses couldn't believe, well, where was God going to get all of this meat? Now, if we killed all the cows and the sheep and all the fish, this still wouldn't be enough for 600,000 people for an entire month. And God said, just watch. You think something like this is impossible for me? And guess what? That's exactly what God did. So once again, we see that nothing is beyond our God.
00:19:48
Speaker
And when he says he's going to do something, he is going to do it. No matter what it is, he will do it. And there are so many promises that God has made for us in the Bible. Things like when he has started a good work in us, he will carry it to completion. Things like his word never comes back empty.
00:20:10
Speaker
And I am just so thankful that God has provided us with these amazing examples of his might and his ability so that there is just no way we should ever have reason to doubt, which is lack of faith. There's no reason why we should ever lack faith.
00:20:29
Speaker
in what God can do, no matter how bad the situation looks. So I want that to be our daily application today, is a one, to not put anything out of God's reach. If you have a prayer request, bring it to God, no matter how big it seems. No matter how impossible it seems, nothing is impossible for God.
00:20:54
Speaker
And secondly, ah being encouraged that we have God's Holy Spirit with us. And it's a wonderful thing because there are many words for the Spirit. He is our Comforter.
00:21:06
Speaker
he is
00:21:09
Speaker
he is There's so many things. I can't even think of all the things right now. But and He is our Comforter and He is God's Spirit with us. we are in dwelling he He dwells inside of us.
00:21:21
Speaker
He's not just around us. he He is in us. And that is special. And so I don't want us to take that for granted. I want us to remember that. So essentially what God prayed would happen. He said, I wish that God's spirit would come upon all of them. and They could all start speaking messages.
00:21:40
Speaker
It's true. Moses actually was kind of prophetic there and in what happened. And also that ah when he had that bird and he went to God, and whether it was for the meat that the people needed, this was the second time that they complained about not having meat. And God sent them the quail the first time. So they did not remember that God provided for them and then all they needed to do was ask they were grumpy and they were fussing about it and once again they were not giving God the respect that was due to him by just simply asking and they were complaining about the fact that what they had in Egypt was better than what God was doing for them they were complaining that their lives were hard
00:22:27
Speaker
And they didn't have to work the ground. They didn't have to hunt. God provided everything they needed. Sure, they had to pick up all of their belongings if they had them taken out and and move them about in their travels. But God was with them day and night. He provided all of their food. He provided water for them. He was taking care of them.

Trust and Consequences in Divine Provision

00:22:51
Speaker
I just, their life was not as hard as they thought it was. They were just ungrateful. And so I want us to might remember that as well in our own lives that ah encourage us not to become grumpy about our current situation and say, oh, when I had that job, it was so much better. When we lived in that neighborhood, it was so much better. When when I was ah doing this it was so much better because God has us exactly where he wants us right now all of us I am right where I am supposed to be you are right where you are you're supposed to be and instead of being unhappy and ungrateful about where we are we need to remember that God provides for us wherever we are and he is providing for us now so I think that's about everything that I was going to say
00:23:44
Speaker
ah Or that I should have said that it didn't say the first time. And I just want to make sure before I move on.
00:23:58
Speaker
It might seem like it was a harsh penalty that God killed the people who were ah complaining about the food and that he made them sick. But these were people that were not being faithful to him. And it was his ah right to make his decision to do that. As we mentioned before, his rules were were meant to be obeyed very strictly. And this is how he was setting his people apart. And he could not have people that were going to be complaining about what he was providing for them that was not acceptable to him. So I wanted just to point that out that he is not an unkind or an unloving or an unforgiving or an unjust God. These were people that he was pruning from the branches. He cut them off just as Jesus says that there if there is any branch in us that does not bear fruit, that branch is cut off and it's no different.
00:24:52
Speaker
In this case, we see the cutting off was a physical death. They were not getting it, just like the people who didn't want to follow God when they had built the idol out of ah gold for the calf. When Moses was up on the mountain talking to God and Moses said, if you are with God, come with me. And there were about 3000 people.
00:25:13
Speaker
that did not want to follow God. So Moses took his men and the young men, they went out and they they killed the 3000 people who were not wanting to follow God. This is God's nation. This is God's people. These are the people that if they're not following him, that they didn't need to be there. So it might seem harsh to us, but it was not harsh. I want to assure us of that.
00:25:43
Speaker
So that's all we have for today. And I thank you so much for being here with me, whether you are joining me on any podcasting site or whether you have found me via TikTok or on YouTube or on my site. Thank you so much for being here.
