Today's we will begin reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 1:2, 5-7, 10-28, Chapter 2:1-2, 4-5, 7, 9-16, and Chapter 3:1-7, 16-20.
Today we will read about the Corinthians having difficulty getting along with one another because they were causing division among themselves by claiming they were followers of different teachers. Paul's letter explains that they (and we!) need to stay focused on unity with one another because we all share the same Holy Spirit, are all followers of Jesus, have the mind of Jesus, and are the temple for God's Spirit because God lives in each of us!
In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged to remember that we, like the Corinthians, need to remember not to get hung up on divisive names like being Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, Baptist, Lutheran, non denominational, etc. We need to remember that we all have the same foundation- Jesus! It is God who is important, not who we claim to follow, because we are all just servants for God!
We will also talk about how we have the mind of Jesus, which means our goals should be the same as Jesus' goals: make God the most important one in our lives, obey God, do the work God gave us to do to tell people about Jesus, and help people know how to follow Jesus.
