Tribute to John Saxon and Regis Philbin
00:00:03
Speaker
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, die in times here. Welcome to the right. For real.
00:00:31
Speaker
All right, welcome to Fright Central. I'm Kevin Dock and again with me is Keck. How are you doing today, Keck? Hey, what's going on, buddy? I'm all right. How are you doing? Good, good, good. First, before we get started, I just want to say a rest in peace to John Saxon, who just passed recently, who's famous for Enter the Dragon and Nightmare on Elm Street and a bunch of other films.
00:00:51
Speaker
So yeah, I just want to give a shout out to him real quick shout out to Regis Philbin. Um, I wasn't like a huge fan of what he did, but like he was loved by like a good portion of the country and sort of hailed as a national treasure. So like I need to at least throw something out.
Impact of COVID-19 on Film Releases
00:01:12
Speaker
He is currently unavailable for the foreseeable future.
00:01:16
Speaker
Well, speaking of things that are unavailable for the foreseeable future. It's a good segue, right? Yeah, you like that. It's our topic tonight, which is going to be movies that have been pushed back due to the whole coronavirus. We're going to start off with The Hunt, which is a movie that neither of us has seen yet, which was originally scheduled to come out last September. And then again, it was supposed to come out in
00:01:47
Speaker
April, have you? No, March. I think the 16th of March. That's, that's, that's when things like when lockdown measures took effect in the state of New Jersey. So I, I'm pretty sure that was the date. Yeah. Anyway, it was supposed to come out March and then it got, then it got pushed back again and they ended up just releasing it all March 20th on a video on demand.
00:02:13
Speaker
We'll get into more of that once we see it. Hopefully that'll be our next cast we'll talk about. Yeah, I almost watched it last night. It was getting a little bit late and I decided like, you know, maybe I'll watch it because we had said we were gonna probably do like a cast about it and like all the controversy surrounding it. So I'm thinking maybe I'll like watch it like right before we do our cast on it and that way I'll be like fresh in my mind. I don't know about you.
00:02:40
Speaker
Yeah, that's my plan too. So yeah, I've already looked into some of the reasons why it was delayed in the first place. And I remember when it happened too. But again, we'll get into that, the next cast. So then the next movie that got pushed back was The Quiet Place Part Two was originally supposed to come out March 20th, and then got pushed back all the way to April 23rd of 2021.
00:03:04
Speaker
I have it. A friend gave it to me. I did not realize that it was, I thought it had just come out.
Film Copyright and Release Strategies
00:03:13
Speaker
A friend got it somehow and I have not seen it yet, but we might be able to do, because of that, we might actually be able to cast like months before the movie even hits theaters.
00:03:29
Speaker
Yeah, I would rather not because you can get sued and stuff. I was absolutely joking. Here at Freight Central, we do not condone any sort of copyright infringement. We take that thing very seriously. And like I said, a friend got it, so I had nothing to do with that. Yeah, then we've got, I'm not sure how to quite pronounce this, but verarium sounds about right.
00:03:57
Speaker
about March 27 that ended up being canceled from its release date completely and it was released on Amazon Prime on that same day. That was a little more of an independent film about a couple of weeks lost in like a labyrinth like neighborhood where all the houses look identical. So it looked like an interesting film that I wanted to check out and maybe we'll
00:04:19
Speaker
I'll have to check that one out and get back to you on that to see how that one was. God, it sounds like the neighborhood that I was living in before this. Everything looks completely identical. I actually had gotten lost in that neighborhood as a child several times, so it might take place in my neighborhood.
00:04:39
Speaker
I've been through a few neighborhoods like that. I've had to stop and ask people, how do I get out of here? I'm lost. I don't know how to get back to the main road.
00:04:51
Speaker
So yeah. And in the village, like everything's named off of a American state, you know what I mean? Mississippi, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York. So like I was like skateboarding around and I was like trying to find my way out by States and it doesn't work like that. Like everything just kind of goes in a circle. And yeah, so that's my story about that. So I wonder if, uh, I wonder if it's something like that.
Intrigue Around 'Saint Maud' and Other Films
00:05:19
Speaker
The next film I've got on here is Saint Maud, which is like a, you know, supposed to be like, you know, a religious psychological thriller. Somebody trying to help save the soul of a dying patient. It was originally supposed to come out April 10th, got pushed back to July 17th. And then it doesn't have a US release date right now, but UK theaters have announced a date for April 23rd, 2020.
00:05:48
Speaker
Yeah, I saw that note that you had put in. I saw that little annotation you had in there. I had just heard about this film the other day. And it was just in passing, like somebody was mentioning it to me. And I had no idea what it was about. But they were like, yes, St. Maude, you got to check that out. Yeah, I haven't seen a trailer or anything yet, but it was something that I haven't either. I didn't even know what it was.
00:06:13
Speaker
Yeah, it was on my radar, but it wasn't anything that I like. I was like, oh, another religious, you know, exorcism movie is what I thought it was probably going to be. But it doesn't really seem like that. It seems a little different. I don't know. It could be. Again, I haven't seen a trailer, but it is interesting that it'll hit UK theaters before us because they've done a lot better job of locking
Resuming Film Production During Pandemic
00:06:36
Speaker
everything down. I know production has already started for on some films in Germany.
00:06:41
Speaker
this past week and I know some films for at least TV for WB.
00:06:47
Speaker
is going to start shooting again in Vancouver in August. Yeah, I saw you had sent me that information. We had just been talking the other night about whether or not some production companies might want to, if they were early in production, if they maybe want to just pick up shop and move to somewhere else, if that was economically viable for them. And it looks like some people are doing that, you would say.
00:07:13
Speaker
No, I think some were already like that film Uncharted, which is based on a video game. It was already going to shoot in Germany. Yeah, they're already done scouting locations and stuff. So they they plan on that. I think it was supposed to start shooting in March or early May, I believe.
00:07:31
Speaker
and they got delayed and now they're gonna start again in August. And the WB usually shoots most of their stuff for the CW in Vancouver. So they just have to have like, you know, cast and crew, or I'm sorry, cast that members that go up there, have the quarantine two weeks before the start of the production, so.
00:07:52
Speaker
Well, yeah, I mean, you're, you're really lucky if you're just in the scouting phase right now, because like, even if like you spent money sending people to scout, like remember what happened when we sent that guy and FIFA years ago, the scout and the Congo and the war broke out and the scout never came back.
00:08:09
Speaker
like at least if you're in the um if you're in the phase where you're just scouting you can like like you can just be like all right this isn't gonna work out and you can just scout out new location if you're already in the middle of filming like this must be like a fucking financial nightmare oh yeah it could be worse if you've already started production and then have had to shut down yeah if you're like halfway through yeah start back up again i don't know which of these films that are coming out later this year
Creative Delays and Production Challenges
00:08:37
Speaker
are actually finished shooting or just in post-production or if they've had to shut down and have to actually finish. I'm not even sure about some of those movies. I haven't gone through them all to actually like, you know, look into details if they've had to shut down or not. Well, there's a couple of rumors I heard and they're on the list that we're going to do. So I'll just mention that when we get to them. Okay.
00:08:59
Speaker
Now, the next film, I was really excited to see antlers supposed to come out April 17th. They got pushed back. We talked about this in an earlier cast a little bit. What exactly is that about again? Well, they got pushed back to February 19th, 2021. It's hard to describe, but the trailer looks really good. It's like a mysterious creature escapes from its confines to rec havoc in a small Oregon town. It's directed by Scott Cooper, who did Out of the Furnace, Black Mass, and Hostiles.
00:09:28
Speaker
And it's produced by Guillermo del Toro and David S. Goyer. And it looks really good. It's like a nice creature feature I'm looking forward to. But it's something like they're like giant mutated deer or something like that. I don't know if it's mutated deer or if it's just some creature that they've made up. I have no idea what it's exactly supposed to be.
00:09:51
Speaker
If it's supposed to be based on anything or it's just some creature that they've been It'd be really cool if it was like Knight of the Lepus part 2 and the subtitle was antlers So it was like a direct like, you know, I mean sequel to Knight of the Lepus But it's a giant killer mutant bunny rabbits. It's giant mutant killer deer That's where I was going with that.
Film Schedule Confusion and Changes
00:10:14
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think they're I don't think they're giant. Uh
00:10:17
Speaker
If it's deer, I think it's like they're just kind of mutated or, you know, really fucked up type of creatures. I don't think they're, it's not supposed to be like a King Kong situation. I don't know. It's something I was looking forward to this year and unfortunately we got to wait until February of next year.
00:10:42
Speaker
Another one is, another one I was looking forward to was Annabelle. The trailer for that was really mysterious, but it's basically a, it's got dropped from the schedule right now. It doesn't have a release date, but it was supposed to come out April 21st. And it was about this successful author who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality, must uncover this mind bending mystery before it's too late. And it looked like it was kind of jumping through time a bit. So I don't know if it's just like flashbacks or if it's,
00:11:12
Speaker
or if it's actually deals with time travel. I thought the trailer was really well done because it really left a lot of mystery of what was actually happening. Yeah, I must have mistook this for another film. I thought it was about the demonic ventriloquist that does like the little doll thing. Maybe that was called Annabelle. Yeah, that's Annabelle. I don't think that was ventriloquist either. It's just a possessed doll or whatever.
00:11:40
Speaker
Yeah, completely different movie. I think Annabelle is supposed to be related to like the Conjuring universe. Gotcha. Yeah.
Interest in 'Spiral' and 'Saw' Franchise
00:11:49
Speaker
The next one's a spin-off of the Saw series called Spiral. And it was written by Chris Rock, who stars along with Sammy Jackson and Derry Lynn Bosman, who I believe did the first or second Saw. He did one of the Saw's. Or he's... Wait, like the Chris Rock?
00:12:10
Speaker
Yes, the Chris Rock. It's like a satire, like a comedy based off of the Saul series. No, it's a serious movie. Really? Yeah. The trailer actually looked pretty decent from what I saw. But yeah, there's been like eight or nine of those. I kind of lost count. But I'll see. It looks a little different. I don't know where it takes place in the series. I think I remember seeing a trailer a while back for Saul 5.
00:12:40
Speaker
So I stopped watching it after like the second or third one. It was just a little bit too much for me. God will too ridiculous. Were you being sarcastic? Because if you told me there were really eight or nine of the Saw movies, I would believe you.
00:12:57
Speaker
Yeah, I love I've completely lost count. I don't remember even what I think the last one was just might have been called Saul or final Saul final chapter or something like that. I think I think there was one that went like just kind of straight to video. I'm not even sure if it was all theaters. Yeah, they all came out there certain of that. Yeah, I did not know that.
00:13:17
Speaker
Yeah, but like those movies are kind of like I watch them because for like the same reason you watch like the Final Destination movies you kind of watch them for the elaborate kills and like the traps like that. But the first one I thought was really was really good. My favorite scene was where the guy was in like the bottom of this pit.
00:13:40
Speaker
and there were rancid pigs going through like a blender and it was like liquefying them it was like pigs like full of maggots and stuff like that and it was liquid and was filling up the hole so the guy was going to drown in the liquefied remains of dead rotting maggot filled pigs and i just thought like damn that's up
00:14:04
Speaker
Fucked up. I only remember which one that was from, but yeah, yeah, it was it was the it was one of the guys in Braveheart and played like I played one of the scotch lords in Braveheart. He was he was the guy that was trapped in the bottom of the pit. But I just remember that. And like, you know, there's so many fucked up ways to die in the series. Well, that just kind of stood out to me like that's a bad thing to drown in.
00:14:34
Speaker
Oh, yeah, for sure. Yeah, I mean, Chris Rock definitely, yeah, he's playing more of a serious role in this. And I believe he plays a cop alongside Sammy Jackson. So the trailer is out now. So I know that one was completed. But that got pushed back like a full year. I just, you know, Chris Rock being the comedian, he is like I
Anticipation and Delays for 'Candyman'
00:14:54
Speaker
and there had been so many soul movies. Yeah. I thought it was probably like a comedy or a satire. Like a scary movie.
00:15:04
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. No, it looks like he decided to take the Jordan Peele route and do a horror movie. And speaking of Jordan Peele, he produced and co-wrote the next one, Candyman, which was supposed to come out June 12th, got pushed to September 25th.
00:15:20
Speaker
And now it's got pushed back again, October 16th. So that's its date for now, but we'll see. I do not have high hopes that it's going to come out this year. I hope it does. But I would say for me, being a fan of like the Candyman movies, like this is probably like
00:15:41
Speaker
the one that hit me the most because this was like one of the I don't think it's supposed to be a sequel, right? It's supposed to kind of be a remake of the first one. So it's kind of a they've kind of talked about it's like a spiritual sequel. So Tony Todd does return in it. And the the trailers out for it, the way it kind of plays out is like, if I remember correctly, like the main guy is having like these flashes of
00:16:09
Speaker
Candy Man eyes so I don't know if like Tony Todd is kind of possessed this guy and he's making this this new character commit the Murders or what exactly is happening or if Tony Todd's still killing him killing people and he and he's just returned But yeah, it does look like it's a straight-up sequel not a like make to it. Yeah
00:16:29
Speaker
Again, that leads to the long list of things that I did not know. I thought it was more of like sort of like a remake that was going to encompass like the films before it and not like a direct sequel to The Candyman. So, well, that's cool.
00:16:49
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I mean I was I was a little worried at first when it said like remake but then the more I've read about it It's like they've kind of said like spiritual sequel to it would be like the best way to describe I heard it was a remake. So yeah, but I mean who knows like by the time it finally comes out like it could
00:17:09
Speaker
It could be a lot of different things. Well, the trailer is out now, so you can see the trailer and then you'll see that Tony Todd's returned. Well, I mean, you remember the original trailer to Schindler's List where it was like he was like making a list because he was in love with all these women? No.
00:17:30
Speaker
I don't know if you're fucking with me right now. I'm definitely not fucking with you. Someone took the film and they basically made like a script on it. Yeah, okay. It got like millions of views on YouTube. Yeah, that was the original trailer. That was just the one. What I was trying to infer is like the longer you're sitting on a film,
Film Improvement Opportunities and Misleading Trailers
00:17:55
Speaker
that has been completed like I would just think the more time like wouldn't you use that additional time to like maybe improve the editing or maybe like add something like I would just think that it would be in like
00:18:11
Speaker
the their own best interest like you know i mean rather than like you don't have to hear to any deadline right now so why not like you know i mean like fuck around with the movie like a little bit more like the trailer for predators two thousand and where they showed a bunch of things
00:18:29
Speaker
in the trailer with Adrian Brody, he had all the predator targets on his body and stuff like that, but none of it was actually present in the film. So I'm just saying, nowadays I do not go by trailers.
00:18:50
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Well, sometimes they throw stuff in there just to throw you off of the, uh, the scent as, uh, as to say, uh, of what the actual movie is about. But, uh, now this one, I mean, this movie has been confirmed that he's been back. It's not just a, uh, a thing to throw you off of life. You're sure. I'm positive.
Shift to VOD and Theater Industry Troubles
00:19:09
Speaker
I'm positive you can be back. Yes. Tony Todd will return.
00:19:13
Speaker
Another one I want to mention that's on video on demand now came out June 18 is called you should have left and it's directed by David cope care. I'm not sure how to pronounce his name, but he's the guy did stir of echoes with Kevin Bacon.
00:19:29
Speaker
And this one also stars Kevin Bacon in it. So I'm definitely interested. You had mentioned this to me the other night. You had said that it was starring Kevin Bacon, then it was done by the same people that did serve echoes. And at that point, like I...
00:19:45
Speaker
looked it up after I got off the phone with you. And I was like, oh, this is the new new movie that's starring Amanda Siegfried. And that's like pretty much like, you know, I always like I'm on the lookout for anything that she's in. So I had only known it as the movie that Amanda Siegfried is going to be in. And now that I saw that it was actually like with Kevin Bacon, and it was like a serious movie, like by people that did Star of Echoes, I got really pumped.
00:20:13
Speaker
Yeah, I'm excited to see that. This is now one of the films that I'm really looking forward to seeing. Well, I mean, it's available now, just Video on Demand, since it skipped its theater release as well. So I guess they decide they just make more money off of Video on Demand than releasing in theaters. Yeah. I think, like I said, I think that's going to be the new standard scene. Yeah, I mean, the way Apple did well with Greyhound,
00:20:43
Speaker
The that that was supposed to come out in theaters and then they just Sony just dropped it and then let Apple buy up the distribution for it and they put it on and and since that's been doing really well. They're like, look, probably looking for other movies right now to do the same thing that we're like, hey, we think we'll make you a
00:21:00
Speaker
more money, but if we buy and release it on our product, then you will in theaters right now. Don't get me started on Greyhound. I'll go into a tremendous sidebar because I have opinions on that film, but one thing I do just want to mention is that the future of AMC Theaters is currently very much in jeopardy.
00:21:24
Speaker
Like this is, I had looked at it more and I do not believe that they have declared CHOP 7 bankruptcy, but I know that they are, they were several months ago talking about like how they will be going out of business if they're not back in business soon. And that was like three months ago.
00:21:51
Speaker
So I'm not sure like what, and at least around here, I know in Southern California, you guys still have like, I think more of an option to theater choices and stuff like that. But around me, there's no like kung fu drive-in theaters. So like if AMC goes out of business, like there's no like secondary like mom and pop joint that's gonna open up. So like for us,
00:22:20
Speaker
Things that were, you know, uh, the after currently released would have to either be on a streaming service or cable, um, or some kind of new service that has not, you know, come out yet or, you know, we're not going to see those or another company might come in and just buy the taken buyout AMC and like, you know, replace like the AMC logo with Roy Rogers. That's possible.
00:22:45
Speaker
I mean not necessarily like by the whole company but just like individual theaters you know I mean like some and somebody can come in and just buy that one theater in uh in Jersey or whatever like you know what can go back to maybe some small companies or maybe Amazon will come out and uh
00:23:02
Speaker
and buy it. Yeah, I mean, I guess like, you know, one man's loss is another man's gain. I mean, if AMC does go out business and they have all those like, you know, if they have all those gigantic buildings, you know, I mean, that, you know, are already equipped to show movies, like it would probably be in someone's best interest to try to, you know, take advantage of that. And I could see Netflix
00:23:30
Speaker
having the type of funds that they have, like moving in or something like that. I can see Amazon. Talk about more. Yeah, I can see Amazon and Netflix both doing that. I know Netflix just made a deal with the Egyptian theater down the street from me. So they kind of are helping them upgrade their theaters and stuff like that. And so that they can do first run productions and stuff. But like most of the weekend,
00:23:59
Speaker
I'm not sure if they might have it backwards, but most of the regular screenings and stuff will still be produced by the people who currently run it right now. But Netflix has a deal with them so they can come in and do the premieres and stuff at that theater.
00:24:16
Speaker
Off the top of your head, do you know who owns AMC theaters currently? Like, are they a subsidiary of anybody? Like, or are they like their own company in itself? Like, you know, like, for example, like, are they like, you know, in business with like Time Warner or something like that?
00:24:34
Speaker
Off the top of my head, I don't believe so. I think they might be their own thing or it might be a group of people that own it. So I'm not really sure. That would be obviously another good option for them is that rather than the clear bankruptcy, I mean, they would probably take a gigantic hit, but they could realistically, if their own company within themselves, they could sell their rights to somebody else and someone could just simply buy AMC Theaters.
00:25:01
Speaker
And, you know, that would be another good option for people that like going to movies in the Northeastern United States because, like I said, like AMC is like, you know, the theater business like up here. I don't know of any other theater chains. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be an interesting thing. We'll have to wait and see at this point.
Upcoming Releases and Actor Comebacks
00:25:24
Speaker
But yeah, the next movie I got that's been delayed, it was supposed to come out July 10th. It's got pushed back to March 21st. It's the Ghostbusters Afterlife, which is the sequel to Ghostbusters 2, and not that other one that we won't mention. But the trailer, there was a teaser. I wouldn't say a full trailer, but there was a teaser for that. And everyone's returned except for Harold Muniz. May he rest in peace. But Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Kurt
00:25:53
Speaker
Yeah, and Ernie Hudson have all returned. No Rick Moranis, though. He has not come back. I don't think Rick Moranis has acted in decades, right? Yeah, I think he mostly had just done voice acting, and then he's pretty much just retired to take care of his kids and stuff like that.
00:26:13
Speaker
I remember watching an interview with him many years ago where he basically said that he made so much money like in his heyday that like he just no longer had the desire to act anymore he had the funds and he just wanted to raise his family and like you know that's cool it's just you know we really missed out on a lot of Rick Moranis because when I was a kid growing up he was one of my favorite actors like he retired like in his
00:26:42
Speaker
prime it's not like you know i mean like gene hackman it's like you know in his like late 80s now like you know it's like you know rick moran has like retired in this prime and well i mean it was a the loss of his wife
00:27:00
Speaker
Yeah, the loss of his wife was probably, you know, one of the factors and retire. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, definitely. No, I'm not trying. I'm not trying to say that. I wasn't going to mention that because like that's kind of grim. What I mean is he retired in his prime.
00:27:19
Speaker
Um, a lot of people after like a tragic loss will sometimes like keep working to sort of take their mind off of it. You know what I mean? Rather than like retire in the seclusion and, um, uh, again, Rick Morris was one of my favorite actors growing up and I really miss him. Yeah, me too. But, uh, yeah, then, uh, after that, I got a more BS on here as, uh, the trailer was out for that. It's supposed to come out July 21st, got pushed back to March 18.
00:27:50
Speaker
If you don't know what Morbius is, it's based on the Spider-Man villain.
Speculations on Films in Production Limbo
00:27:56
Speaker
Michael Morbius, who's a scientist trying to find a cure for rare blood disease and accidentally transports himself into the living vampire. That's why I mentioned that one on here. It's supposed to be more of a horror, but it's not part of the MCU. It was like a Sony side piece. We'll see what's going on with that. I mean, the trailer looked interesting,
00:28:18
Speaker
I think they did a great job with Venom, so we'll see about Morbius. I'm always skeptical about Sony's adaptations of Marvel problems. I mean, I know Jared Leathers in it, and I like him, but I'm just a pass on this one.
00:28:41
Speaker
Then next is the the next purge movies called forever purge I don't know it's supposed to be the last one or just another one who knows but that was supposed to come out July 10th and I got pushed back to July 9th of next year Then malignant supposed to come out in March got pushed back to August 14th and now it's just off the schedule and that was gonna be a James Wan directed described as an original thriller not based on any existing IP and
00:29:10
Speaker
And the only thing we know about it is supposed to be part of the Galeo subgenre, which is an Italian horror subgenre involving mystery or tech developments.
00:29:21
Speaker
Very familiar. This was one of the films that I saw on your list that stood out to me because I'm a really big fan of this guy's work. And when I did not realize, but I saw that you had made a note next to it that said it's off schedule. And that like sort of in my own paranoid mind of, you know, being in seclusion for so long means like,
00:30:14
Speaker
Not coming ever, you know.
00:30:19
Speaker
What my thing is like I guess I see the secrecy as being like something where like unless I know that like filming has completed or has nearly completed like I'm wondering if a lot of companies would just be waiting to the last minute to be like
00:30:37
Speaker
All right, sorry, we have to scrap this project. Because nobody's going to just publicly come out right away and say, sorry, we have to scrap this. They would be looking for other financers or other streams of revenue to bring in. They're going to want to do their best.
00:31:01
Speaker
to save their work and like the longer you don't hear about something like thomas rosinski like you know i just like assume there's a chance that they're never coming back yeah well i mean in this case i think it was already wrapped because it was supposed to come out in march so i think it's already was done and in the bag and then they had to push it back because of uh covet 19 but uh i sure as hell hope so
00:31:28
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I think most of the things that were supposed to come out earlier this year were already done and just kind of waiting. And now we're just kind of waiting to see what's going on. The stuff that's coming out later this year, that I don't know if they had finished or not. This next one, though, they'd finished all the way back in 2018, the New Mutants, which was supposed to be the final Fox X-Men spin-off.
00:31:53
Speaker
That got pushed back from April 13th, 2018. It got pushed back to February 22nd, 2019 to avoid Deadpool 2. Then pushed back to August 2nd to avoid Dark Phoenix. Then it was delayed again until April 3rd when Disney bought Fox. And then it got removed from Disney's schedule in March. And then right now it's scheduled to come out on August 28th. And they just really, the first 10 minutes of this film,
00:32:23
Speaker
And they've released multiple trailers in the past, but I feel like it's going to get delayed again. But it's supposed to be like the first Marvel or X-Men horror film where it's about a group of kids trapped in this pretty much asylum that they are put into. And they pretty much have to work together to get out. I mean, the trailer looks good.
00:32:47
Speaker
This is one of the movies that I just was going to mention. CNET had a, I could send you the link, but CNET put out a thing about films that had been postponed or potentially canceled. And this was in the rumor section of a film that may be
00:33:15
Speaker
long-term postponed. Say that again. I'm sorry, you kind of cut out for a second. Yeah, same. Seeing that, if you're familiar with the website, seeingthat.com, they recently had a piece about
00:33:29
Speaker
films that were being postponed and like it was something that I had looked at before this cast and there was like a rumor section like you know like like trans rumors and football like um and this was one of the films on the list that were rumored to have like had major problems and maybe postponed the long term.
00:33:53
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, well, I mean, it's already, it's, again, it's already been filmed. It had originally gotten pushed back. And I saw the trailer. Yeah. It had originally gotten pushed back because Fox wanted to do reshoots, but it never ended up doing reshoots. And the directors come out and said like, this is like the, his original vision, only maybe 20 minutes of
00:34:15
Speaker
footage had actually been cut but he purposely like this is like the director's cut there isn't like it's only gonna be like 90 minutes long it's like this is his final version so this is what he wanted but the problem is that it keeps getting pushed back but it's it's part of the Disney Fox deal that they can't just put it to streaming they have to release in theaters first
00:34:35
Speaker
before they can put it on streaming. So it's kind of in limbo right now. I mean, it's still scheduled to come out in August. But I think that was one of the reasons that scene that had put it up there. I got to tell you, like the whole Disney Fox thing, like it just seems like so complicated and shady.
00:34:54
Speaker
I totally don't trust the internal strife and politics of this situation. I'll send the link. We can maybe put it up on Facebook or something like that. It's an interesting read, but this is one of the things that was rumored to possibly be a long-term delay. I'm not really sure what long-term means because a lot of this stuff is already long-term.
00:35:19
Speaker
yeah yeah you know it was interesting but like i was saying to myself like why is there any issue with this at all because i've already seen the trailer and was under the impression like you said that it's already been filmed and in post-production or you know totally completely yeah yeah they already released a minute of it yeah this was one of the things that said possible long term
00:35:45
Speaker
Delay and that just didn't make sense to me. So the only thing I could think of it has something to do with like the Disney Fox Yeah, there was already a lot of like distribution and rights deals in here before they came in and bought it and it's just one of those things that they can't release to streaming without being in theaters first Otherwise they would have already they would have been like yeah, fuck it like we're never gonna get this movie out Let's just put it on Hulu or Disney Plus or whatever like so
00:36:11
Speaker
Yeah, it's gonna be, it'll probably get pushed back to like- I don't know, I don't know why it wouldn't just already come out on like Disney or something like that, but has something to do with the right, I don't know, like- Then it was part of the deal that has to be run in theaters first, like that is part of the deal they had. But with what's going on right now, you would think that like exceptions would be made, or new compromises would have come to at this
00:36:37
Speaker
point, you know, because this is a really good time to, you know, air your ship because everybody's at home psyching it. Yeah. But I mean, it was one of those deals that's already in place and now Fox like that part of the production doesn't exist anywhere. So they can't go back and renegotiate that contract to put it back.
00:36:54
Speaker
And on the man or whatever, it's something that was already set before all of this happened. So it just has to play out this way. Like, there's no good thing for that. I can debate this, but I'm not going to. I don't want to get, but I mean, yeah, obviously, like, you know, but.
00:37:13
Speaker
It just to me, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I would think that compromises would be reached considering the current state of like the world. So I'm still I'm still like, you know, I mean, but like I said, I don't know the business end of all this stuff. I don't know everything. I just hope that like they don't decide to play like politics. Like he said, she said fucking bullshit that like gypsos out of being able to see this in the near future.
00:37:42
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I can see it definitely getting pushed back till probably like January or March of next year. That's early of early next year. That's totally fucking crazy.
00:37:52
Speaker
I think it's understandable considering there's no way they're going to be able to keep this August date. That's what I mean. It's just not realistic. We don't think kids are going to be able to go back to school. You can't fucking come to an agreement where you're like, all right, let's just do away with that cause where it has to be in theaters.
00:38:14
Speaker
AMC is talking about filing for bankruptcy and that may go out of business. Let's just try to work on something that would benefit us all mutually and do something nice for the viewing audience. Maybe they'll be able to do it in some states that are doing better than others. Maybe a little bit of a reset there. Or if they do the thing with the other one where they release it in the UK, maybe if that works out, I don't know if it has to be released in the US or not.
00:38:42
Speaker
So it could realistically not be coming out in Florida until 2025 is what you're saying? Or no it would come out in like a couple theaters in Jersey or like Vermont or Maine or one of those other states that are doing a lot better and then like a week or two later just come right out on video on demand be like hey we fulfilled our contract it was in theaters now we can just release it right so
00:39:06
Speaker
Maybe it could be like they could air it in select cities and then just like drop. I mean, that would be reasonable. Unless it's like, unless part of the contract, it is asked to open up so many theaters, but I don't really know the details. So.
00:39:22
Speaker
We'll just have to wait and see what that that would be a really good workaround though if they just showed it in one theater Yeah It came out in or well, it would be this County's doing really well. Let's really sit there. Yeah Hey, we aired it in Los Angeles and New York City like it came out in theaters nationwide bang We're not open in anything anytime soon over here. Yeah
00:39:50
Speaker
But yeah, the next thing I got is the Conjuring. There's another Conjuring movie. I think it's the third one in the Conjuring series, but the seventh in the overall expanded universe. I don't think I've seen maybe one or two of these. I saw the first one. I was aware there was a second one, but that's all I know. Yeah, I mean, this one is supposed to come out in September. It got pushed back to June.
00:40:20
Speaker
Um, it's, it's about like the Warren's who were known frauds. Uh, they all say based on true story, but they're, they're, they're known frauds like it, but, uh, this is one of their cases and it's supposed to be, uh, their first, the first us.
00:40:35
Speaker
in US history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense. And that's what this one's based around. So, I mean, that's kind of interesting in itself, but I don't like the fact that they put based on a true story. You should be put based on a true story.
00:40:52
Speaker
All about a bunch of roads there's actually a documentary if you go on YouTube like Google based on a true story and like there's documentaries made about like how loosely some movies that a lot of people take as like testament and
00:41:09
Speaker
how little of a true story they're actually based upon and you'd be surprised some of the titles you get and like you said these people are in particular known for kind of bending reality and so like I just don't take anything I said seriously. Yeah yeah you just like you can't you can't look at it as a face once you have to go and be like all right this is all going to be
00:41:33
Speaker
fake even figure than it normally is it's better is to say inspired by true events yes that would be a better that's what i like based on the true story you know i mean like the exorcism of emily rose for example.
00:41:50
Speaker
That was based on something that happened in the late 1970s. I believe in Germany with a young lady. That is based on a true story. I get that. The location was changed and details were changed, but it was based on a true story. We're talking about something like they just heard of or something like that. That's more like
00:42:15
Speaker
it was inspired by, like I don't understand why they can't get this right. It's not like that hard. Like either it's based on actual events that like, you know, the movie like clearly defines and catalogs, or it was just inspired by something that had once happened. I don't think the distinction is very difficult. So like, I don't know why they, do you understand what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah. I understand what you're saying. I think a lot of times,
00:42:43
Speaker
uh studios use it because they can get away with it and if it draws yeah well that's that's more my point yeah there should be like some kind of sensor in there that says like yet you can't like you know just say this and it's just based on like a small idea you heard somewhere like it needs to be i don't know i i i think that there should be like some regulation in that but again
00:43:12
Speaker
Whatever. I agree. Another one I was looking forward to that was supposed to come out in September is the new Eggert Wright film, Last Night in Soho, which is a 60 set horror flick. I haven't heard of this. Yeah, I got pushed back to April 23rd. It's one of those I'm not sure, because I haven't seen a trailer. I'm just going to assume if the trailer hasn't been released, then they probably haven't finished it, or at least hasn't been finished in post-production.
00:43:39
Speaker
But I've been aware of this because I've been reading articles here and there because I'm always interested in whatever Edgar Wright's doing. So I'll definitely be keeping my eye on that one. But yeah, we ought to wait till April 23rd next year for that. So we'll see.
00:43:53
Speaker
And then the next one is Venom Let There Be Carnage. Again, I was not like the first one. I mean, I like the casting choices with Tom Hardy, but like, and I like the Venom design was a lot better than what they did in Spider-Man 3, but overall it was just a mad movie. But this got pushed back from October 2020 to June 21st. Carnage is supposed to be played by Woody Harrelson, but hopefully he doesn't have that ridiculous wig that he had at the end of Venom.
00:44:22
Speaker
Uh, but, uh, we'll see how that turns out. But I mean, again, it's like, it's a great casting choice, but I just, they've just been very mediocre at best. Uh, then the, uh, the next one was the, is the sequel to the last Halloween movie, which is the sequel to the first Halloween movie, Halloween Kills. And then the Halloween ends, uh, as well. They were, I believe they were filmed back to back. Halloween Kills was supposed to be released October.
00:44:51
Speaker
2020 got pushed back to October 15th 2021 and Halloween ends got pushed back to October fucking cash grab Yeah, like enough is a fucking No Apparently there's already a trailer further for Halloween kills. I haven't watched it yet but it's supposed to pick up right at the end of the last one with
00:45:13
Speaker
Michael burning in the house and firefighters coming in but i guess i'm just kind of biased though like i mean i'll point it out like i wish that they were on like friday the 13th part like 23 right now oh yeah like they're like give me as much friday the 13th as you can possibly fucking get but i know there's probably other people that are bigger michael meyers fans so like you know i guess i'm sort of a hypocrite because i would you know i
00:45:41
Speaker
just the more Jason the better yeah and I'm sure a lot of people are like enough with Jason already because they they kind of we've been fucking them up with that remake that they would Jason X well yeah that would that should never have existed Jason X that was when it came out in theaters at the time
00:46:03
Speaker
Most of the, it was a low budget project for the most part. And I remember there was an article or somewhere I've read that, like said that Jason X got like one of the greatest returns bang for its buck, you know, because it still pulled people into theaters. I saw it three times in theaters.
00:46:29
Speaker
It was ridiculous when they were on top, but it was just such a fun movie. Yeah, exactly. You know what I mean? And it had elements, there were elements of comedy in it, you know what I mean? Like, you know, like, well, like satiricalness from like other, like, Friday the 13th movies that were ridiculous. They had to get that sleeping bag against the tree scene.
00:46:52
Speaker
You know, I mean, like the classics. So, you know, yeah, I'd love more Friday at 13th, but, you know, I guess for people that like Michael Myers, you know, this might be a real treat for them. Yeah, I mean, the whole Friday at 13th thing's still up in lawsuits and stuff, so we'll have to kind of wait. I don't know when they have dates set for any of that, but that's kind of a wait and see on what we'll get with the next Friday at 13th. I mean, if they want to sue people over that remake, I do kind of understand that.
00:47:22
Speaker
I think it's just over. Somebody should have to pay. Yeah, seriously. I paid and I want my money back. Fucking A, man. Yeah, but yeah, well, that's more of a rights issue. That's what they're suing over. And that's why they've kind of had to stop doing updates to the video game and stuff. So I mean, I think they can also can do is patches. So
00:47:45
Speaker
I don't know. I mean, well, I mean, I know we're going to do a cast about video games and horror too, but I had noticed recently that the Friday 13th video game had like a nine gigabyte update recently, which is kind of huge for like that game, which wasn't a very large download anyway.
00:48:06
Speaker
Um, I don't know what that nine gigabyte update featured, but like I noticed that it was nine gigs. I was like, damn, what the fuck did they, I mean, the game is buggy as all hell. So it might've just been like mass nine gigabyte. That's sizable. Yeah, they can't, they can't add any new, new things to it. They just, that's all they can do is fix bugs. And I hear it was really buggy itself. So I haven't even not played it in a while.
00:48:34
Speaker
The Dead by Daylight has been doing really well, and a lot of people are like, man, if only they didn't team up and do that Friday the 13th game, Jason would be perfect for this game, because they've added pretty much every other killer from other franchises into Dead by Daylight, so that would have been nice to add him in there.
00:48:53
Speaker
I think I think the Friday the 13th game would have been a lot better if they focused more on like offline like just like single player campaign mode like aside from like the online debacle like I think that would have been really cool and I was thinking that that might have been
00:49:09
Speaker
part of the update, but I don't know. I mean, people that hear this can feel free to post on Facebook or something like that. If they know more of the answers, I mean, but nine gigabytes, that's a pretty large fucking update. So I would think that there'd be more than just bug fixes in it.
00:49:27
Speaker
Yeah, I wish there was a single player for that. I don't like to play online that much. You can play offline, but it's just kind of shit. But anyway, the next movie you had is The Witches, right? Yeah, I don't remember if you remember the old Angelica Houston. I do. That terrified me as a child, so we'll see. It's supposed to be Anne Hathaway, supposed to play the Grand High Witch. But yeah, it's a new adaptation. That would be awesome.
00:49:55
Speaker
Um back up for 2021. There's no official release date, but it was supposed to come out October 16th
00:50:02
Speaker
Again, this was a film that was on the CNET article that I read that I'll post the link of. And this was another project that is rumored to possibly be a long haul delayed. Yeah, it might have had to shut down production. By more than a year. So and you know, like there's rumors that like the project might be scrapped.
00:50:27
Speaker
But like, you know, that's what they were saying. It's just rumors. So we don't know. But it appears like anybody that wants to see this film, like you're probably going to be waiting a while.
00:50:39
Speaker
Yeah, this wasn't even really on my radar at all until I was looking at this stuff. I was like, oh yeah, I forgot that they are doing a remake of that. And I really loved the first one. I kind of wish they didn't touch it again. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, if it comes out and it's brilliant and like Anne Hathaway's fucking great in it, I'll probably be like, oh wow, I'm really glad they did that. But yeah, I definitely know what you're saying. I definitely have my reserves, yeah.
00:51:08
Speaker
Yeah, that leads into the other film that was mentioned in the article, which was on the list. Next was Godzilla vs. Kong. I did not know they were doing another Godzilla movie. Oh, yeah. This is from it's supposed to be both the sequel of Godzilla King of Monsters and the most recent King Kong movie that they did with Samuel L. Jackson. It's supposed to be that that Kong and that Godzilla and they finally are
00:51:36
Speaker
coming to a head. And I've seen some, I haven't seen a trailer, but I've definitely seen some artwork done. I believe it's in post-production right now. That got pushed back like tentatively a year though, right? They already announced that. Yeah, it's supposed to come out in November.
00:51:53
Speaker
No, it's supposed to come out this November. It's supposed to come out. And I got pushed back to May 21st. Yeah, that's what you're next May. Sorry. So yeah, it's only like a six month delay. So it's not too far. But I think it's mostly post production. I believe they filmed they already did most of the regular stuff. Now it's just all about, you know, making the CGI Kong and Godzilla battle each other is pretty much like I'm looking forward to this film.
00:52:18
Speaker
I mean, I liked the first Godzilla movie, but the story was good in that, but the battles weren't that great. But then the second one, the battles were great, but the story was shit. And I did like the column. I did like the recent column film though. I thought that was pretty... You just feel they haven't reached the right equilibrium.
00:52:38
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Like, I didn't care about the family storyline of the last one, but I didn't go in looking for a story. I went in wanting giant monster battles, and it delivered. And I had a lot of fun during that movie, so I thought it was good. And then the last movie I have coming out on this list is Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which all the Marvel films have been pushed back. This one was pushed back from May
00:53:07
Speaker
2021 all the way back to March 25th 2022 so yeah like a whole year on that yeah that's I guess that's just like a little bit ridiculous to me like why would you like give a date of March 25th 2022 like that seems like oddly specific for a film that you're pushing back years
00:53:33
Speaker
Well the way the Marvel MCU has everything set up is they already have dates locked in for like their next phases which they already do like two years in advance.
00:53:44
Speaker
So all they did was shift every movie back a date. So that way that they, cause a lot of the times, you know, how they all link up together, they can't have one come out before the other. Cause it might. Oh yeah. No, no, I get everything. That would be pretty ridiculous. Yeah. You had sequels coming out before the originals. Like I get that. Yeah. So we were supposed to have, uh, I know black widow was supposed to come out and no, uh, well supposed to come out in the summer and I got pushed back to the end of this year. And then I ear terminals.
00:54:13
Speaker
was supposed to come out in November and that one got pushed back so everything got pushed back to its following date and they usually only put out like four year because they have to save date or three or four year because they have to save some dates for other Disney projects as well but Disney is one of the studios that always
00:54:30
Speaker
blocks out like two or three years in advance of dates that like we're setting this for this date and they try to hit that day and if they can't, then they push everything back on that schedule. I guess my point was I just kind of feel like that formula is kind of bunk. Yeah, I mean, I think, I mean, if, if it helps, I mean, I don't like the fact that they even have, I mean, I guess I understand that they want to lock in dates ahead of time,
00:54:58
Speaker
to get, because they want to get their most bang for their buck. But I would rather you, you know, worry about shooting a movie and making it good first. You know what I mean? And then worry about the release date. But they just, that's what I'm trying to say. I just, like, I would probably pretty much bet my life that on May 25th, 2022, it's not going to come out on that very day.
00:55:27
Speaker
I think it probably, I think it'll hit its date. Cause if they don't start filming until next year, that they'll be able to, they'll be able to bang that shit out. Like they, they're just so well run. That's like, it's like a machine that that Marvel does over there. Kevin Feige has got everything planned out.
00:55:43
Speaker
at a time they could say what they can do right now. I have trouble. I do. Yeah. I mean, I have trouble arguing that. I mean, they, they, I know they do have their shit down. I mean, they have things plotted out like years from now, but I just think that 2020 or May 25th, 2022, like I would have rather just heard
00:56:06
Speaker
the year 2022. You really believe that it's going to air on the exact date, like what months, like more than, you know, that's just crazy. I mean, as long as they go back into production within, uh, within next year, I could easily see them hitting that date. As long as they, I mean, they're given, it's not like they're pushing it back like a month
00:56:29
Speaker
like they're pushing back a full year. So it gives them more time to work in the script and actually shoot and film that movie. So yeah, I mean, I have no issue with them pushing it back. Like, you know, I mean, that's cool. And I think it's good for fans that they give fans like a realistic like projection.
00:56:45
Speaker
of when they're going to see that like I'd like to see more people do that. I would have just rather like them saying like you know spring 2022 rather than trying to give like an exact date like you know who somebody's going to see that and like mark on their calendar like oh yeah
00:57:04
Speaker
I'm gonna be busy may twenty fifth twenty twenty two it reminds me of like wet hot american summer when at the end of the movie like they're like we're all gonna meet on this day at like ten a.m. like ten years from now or something like that no let's do nine a.m. nine and also meet up at ten yeah exactly
00:57:26
Speaker
I would just rather like spring 2022 just seeing. Well, it's just what dates they already had set and they were like, well, we already have the date set so we can just bang. We can just push them all back to the final. The next day. I mean,
00:57:40
Speaker
you don't think people are already marking their calendars for MCU movies, then you don't know Marvel fans. You know what? I do not. You are correct. Yeah, because it's marked on my calendar. Are you fucking saying really? It is marked on your calendar. I don't mark anything down on the calendar. I don't even know a month where now. Yeah, right.
00:58:04
Speaker
But yeah, next I wanted to get into some TV series that were shut down and then have had to push back some dates.
00:58:14
Speaker
The first one I want to talk about was the The Walking Dead season 10 finale, which the last episode aired April 5th, I believe. And so the finale was originally supposed to come out April 12th. And they had to... I thought this was the series finale, but this is actually the season finale. Yeah, just the season finale. So they announced they got pushed back to October 4th.
00:58:37
Speaker
And I read it was they were gonna air an additional six episodes and it was supposed to be a bonus episodes I now I don't know if it's just behind the scenes stuff or if it's like six more episodes of The Walking Dead That I don't know because they they didn't really like get too into details because if you're gonna release six more episodes Then you're not airing the season finale are you you're just airing?
00:59:03
Speaker
Thanks more. So I was a little confused on the worrying of that, but I mean, it's that they were.
00:59:07
Speaker
Midway point, like you're at that point where AMC takes their famous breaks in between shows, like how Breaking Bad, like they would, you know, air like half the season and then they would take a year break in between. Yeah, they do like a mid-season finale then. I would rather it just be like, you know, I would rather it have been like seven seasons than like five seasons. Like if you're going to take a year break, that's usually like a seasonal transition.
00:59:37
Speaker
like i'd rather you just call it like you know like rather than have season five and two parts have you know season five and then season six like i don't know i hate that well this was something they had already like they were already close to finishing and they just didn't have time to finish the season finale uh with uh with post-production stuff so they were like shit like well i guess we might as well keep releasing what we have done because they had already released most of the season up until uh
01:00:06
Speaker
March, I believe. So we only had a few more episodes left, but they weren't able to finish that last episode. So there's been some relief from strain in the network with the court case. One of the court cases. Yes. The producers of the show were suing that AMC over payment. They thought they said they weren't getting
01:00:31
Speaker
the, uh, what they thought they should be doing, that AMC was holding back on them and the judge ruled in AMC's favor and they were like, no, they've been paying you correctly. So AMC won that case. We stole that case with Frank Derenbach, which isn't going to happen until I believe April of the next year.
01:00:49
Speaker
Yeah, so we'll have to wait and see on that and we'll get it. He's asking for like ridiculous compensation like just like I'm not saying he's like wrong like I don't like what AMC did um but like he like AMC has like for the record attempted
01:01:08
Speaker
to settle with him for a modest compensation. Well, yeah, it was modest, but you know, they did attempt to settle this lawsuit. And in my opinion, it looks more like a slap suit, like he's asking for a ridiculous amount of money that would like put tremendous strain on the network if they paid it out. But if anybody is interested,
01:01:33
Speaker
If you Google Frank Derembont and you Google his relationship to the show and what happened, Google Frank Derembont emails and you will see some of the most colorful dialogue between him, the writers, and AMC executives that I've ever seen, including burning executives' lives,
01:02:01
Speaker
Beating them to death with bricks and knocking them down flights of stairs I shit you not you can google this and like it's all over reddit like it is Extremely colorful dialogue like I mean some of it like he obviously put thought into his hostilities and I respect his anger Well, we'll so we'll definitely talk about it once the other court case and we'll get into all the details with that We'll give you guys the
01:02:30
Speaker
the final judgment on that. Yeah, definitely. The other thing that was supposed to come, the other Walking Dead new show, The World Beyond, was supposed to air April 12th as well. And that got pushed back to April 4th. So that'll air right after the season finale of Walking Dead. So and then the fear of the Walking Dead season six will air October 11th. I think that was the original date that they were aiming for, because I didn't hear anything about that game pushback.
01:02:59
Speaker
But that means you'll have three, well, I guess if you get these six extra episodes, you'll have three Walking Dead series to follow at that point. Concurrently. Concurrently, yes. Very interesting. Walking Dead, still walking. Yes. Then the next few I have on my list where it just shows that we're coming out the end of this year or early next year.
01:03:28
Speaker
uh, Lovecraft country, which is really, really looking forward to that. Fuck. That's like probably my number one series. So I'm trying to say, yeah, that comes out August 16th on a HBO and HBO max. Uh, we'll definitely be doing a, uh, I really hope it doesn't get pushed back, but like I have my expectations very alone now.
01:03:47
Speaker
No, they just they just announced the date the other day and showed it showed more trailer So that's already done and in the bag. It's coming up to HBO. We don't want the way for them theaters. It's come to streaming So yeah, no, I'm just really hoping that it comes to HBO on that date. Yeah I know they're done like I don't see why it would get pushed back at this point. So I don't either but like There's just like a lot of uncertainty in my life right now. Yeah
01:04:14
Speaker
The next one is Hellstrom. That's supposed to come out October 16th, 2020 on Hulu. They just released the trailer for that. Oh, that's on, okay, yeah, that's on Hulu. Yeah, it's based on a Marvel comic. It doesn't look like it's part of any of the connected universe. It's supposed to be something separate, I believe, but it's basically about children of a powerful serial killer who hunt the worst of humanity.
01:04:40
Speaker
And I believe their father is Lucifer in the comics. I don't know if they're doing that in the show or not, but, uh, it'll definitely be, uh, the trailer looks really good. I was quick question. Was this supposed to originally come out on Netflix, but Netflix, I think kind of severed ties with Marvel and it then went to Hulu or are you not sure? No, I think this was, uh, one of the, uh, spinoffs that, uh, that
01:05:08
Speaker
It was supposed to be Hellstrom, Ghost Rider, and I think another one that they had planned on doing. I can't remember what the other one was, but they had ended up canceling Ghost Rider because it was supposed to be the Ghost Rider from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that they were supposed to spin off on, and they ended up canceling that. But Hellstrom was the other one that they did not cancel. That's still coming out. So I think that was always going to be on Hulu. That wasn't a Netflix deal.
01:05:37
Speaker
That wasn't like an ABC, Hulu, Disney thing going on. But yeah, it looks good. Then Haunton of Bly Manor, the producer, Mike Flanagan, has said that is definitely coming out this year. There hasn't been a date announced yet, but people are assuming fall 2020. As you know, it's a sequel, or not really sequel, but the next in the series of the Haunton of Hill House,
01:06:04
Speaker
series so I know I know you feel like a forward to this and I know a lot of people I have been and like but I again I don't have like any expectations or anything like that no he's like the Mike Flanagan came out and was like no it's already it was no I I'm sorry I should have been more clear I I don't have high expectations for like
01:06:28
Speaker
Oh, I'm not exactly sure if it's like supposed to be a sequel to the events or if it's just supposed to be another story based on God damn it. I can't remember the authors. No, it's a different author. It's based on this one's based on turn of the screw and a couple other Henry James story. It's completely separate. Okay. All right. Okay. So they planned on doing every season was going to be a different story that it was based on. So they're not connected at all.
01:06:56
Speaker
I don't have high hopes for it, but I really hope I'm wrong.
01:07:01
Speaker
Yeah. Well, I mean, Mike Flanagan, I'm not talking about the time it comes out. Like it's just what I've seen are the material so far. Like I'm just, I'm not that psyched about, but like, again, I wasn't that psyched about like, uh, seeing haunting on Hill House, uh, when it first came out and it was like a pleasant surprise. So hopefully this will do the same. Yeah. Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. It definitely surprised me with that first one too. Yeah. I didn't think it was great. It was fucking awesome. Yeah. I hope, I hope I'm surprised.
01:07:31
Speaker
Yeah, and then another one that was just announced that's supposed to come on Amazon this fall is Truth Seekers, and it's teaming back up Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. And Malcolm McDowell's supposed to be in it too, so that'll be interesting. It's supposed to be like a supernatural comedy series in some part-time paranormal investigators who uncovered ghost signatures or ghost sightings in the UK.
01:08:01
Speaker
I love Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, so in a comedy series with them too, it's gonna be hilarious. I'm always pumped about Malcolm McDowell. Yeah, he's always great too. And then next was a trailer that was just released recently, it was the Chucky TV series. That's so ridiculous. You saved the best for last.
01:08:25
Speaker
The trailer, there was a little teaser for it. I'm excited for this because it's Don Mancini coming back, the original writer-director of the Chucky series, and Brad Dorff is coming back to do The Voice, so it's- Well, let me ask you a question. Did you see the most recent Child's Play movie? No, I skipped it.
01:08:44
Speaker
Yeah, that's very wise. Like you show wisdom well beyond it. I did not skip it. And I got to tell you, like it did give me nightmares about how absolutely insane like who the fuck
01:09:01
Speaker
Like I just don't understand. Like when the writers like brought that to, you know, whoever was fucking fronting the money for this project. Like I would have literally just attacked the writers. Like I would have attacked them. It was that fuck. Like I will fucking totally flipped.
01:09:19
Speaker
Yeah, I remember talking about it. I think it was last year when we talked about stuff coming out this year. I remember mentioning it because I was like, I was like, oh, I want to see it because Mark Hamill's the voice of Chucky. But yeah, I saw a trail of importance. Like, yeah, I'll skip this one completely.
01:09:34
Speaker
I was with some friends like we thought would be funny like my girlfriend was like yeah let's just throw it on and fucking I gotta tell you I really really really wish I had not like that is like an hour and a half of my life I will never get back I could have done like brilliant things during that time
01:09:55
Speaker
It was awful. Yeah. Yeah, this was the follow-up from called Chucky. So it's supposed to continue from the original movie series So everyone's back. But apparently Chucky has a new Motive in this one. So I guess he's not trying to get Yeah, it's definitely not sky net but he's not trying to get like, you know
01:10:17
Speaker
Transfer your soul little boys. I don't really know what his goal is in this one But it's supposed to error both on sci-fi and USA at the same time. It's it's really stays Right now. Yeah, it was something that I saw on the trailer. I was like, oh, that's very interesting I'm kind of glad they're doing it that way because sci-fi tends to you know, cancel stuff cancel good things a little early so this way when sci-fi decides to cancel it on USA, so
01:10:44
Speaker
Give me the power I beg of you. That's what I'm looking forward to, especially with Brad Dwarf doing The Voice. Like, he's great. But yeah, the last thing I've got is Stranger Things season four is scheduled to restart, filming September 17th of this year. Probably will be released next summer, maybe next fall, if they get that update. I totally misread that.
01:11:11
Speaker
I thought it was scheduled to air. Yeah. That's just when it's set to resume filming resume filming. Yeah. It was one of the ones that they shut that, that I know that they shut down.
01:11:24
Speaker
production and they have to go back and start filming again for that. The only thing that I could say that's a good thing is like I dislike season three with such passion. We've already talked about I'm not going to get into it but like if like I like season three and I was like eagerly anticipating that I'd be like uh fuck because like I mean I don't I to like they said they're going to resume filming.
01:11:51
Speaker
on the 17th of September. That just does not seem like very reassuring that you're going to see a final product any time in the next 24 months. No, yeah, it probably won't come out till I would say fall 2021. It depends on how far along. I think that is, I think that is very optimistic.
01:12:11
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I'd like to try to be optimistic, but I, I think originally it was supposed to come out probably fall of this year. My prediction is winter 2023. Yeah, that won't be that long. We'll see. Yeah. You heard it here first, Brandon Keck, winter 2023. All right. Well, that's all I have, uh, to mention of stuff that's, uh, you know, been pushed back or coming up. I don't know if you had anything.
01:12:40
Speaker
that you want to mention before we end? No, I mean, I had looked at, like I had read the CNET article and I had like checked a little bit and I just, you pretty much had covered everything. I just was reading like sort of like the rumor section and like I was looking at some of the pieces that looked like they were going to be like long pushed back.
01:13:06
Speaker
and I've already mentioned them so yeah I think I think we've covered almost anything at least in the realm of like sci-fi and horror there's a lot of news about like I mean there's a lot of news about tons of projects that have been pushed back or rescheduled to a later date but everything like horror sci-fi related I think we covered
01:13:30
Speaker
Yeah, at least at least the big ones. There might be some like lower ones or unknown ones that I don't know about. There's other ones that obviously were already just kind of tentatively scheduled for next year that I'm not even going to bring up or like, yeah, that were just like,
01:13:45
Speaker
You know, like, oh, it'll be released sometime fall of 2020, but like there's been no other production notes about it or anything like that. I don't think we covered the major releases, like at least the theatrical releases for the ones that were supposed to be, you know, definitely coming out this year that had pretty much had finished filming and were either already in the bag or just working on post-production. I think we pretty much covered everything too.
01:14:12
Speaker
All right, well then that about wraps it up. Thanks for joining us and we'll see you next time. Yeah, everybody stay safe out there.
