afcbournement
Hi, everyone. Welcome back to your daily Bournemouth podcast with me, one of your hosts, Luke Burrows, and another solo episode today, guys. So you get to hear my lovely voice again. um Yeah, so sorry about that. Dom is...
00:00:24
afcbournement
away and so is Vic and unable to record so you are left with

Recap of Previous Episode

00:00:31
afcbournement
me. But in this episode um I want to highlight some of the things that I spoke about with the guys from the South Hampton podcast. that was like yeah That was yesterday's episode.
00:00:41
afcbournement
um on crossover Thursday they had a really great conversation a really great chat with them and then look back through some of the fixtures of former first Southampton and then we will wrap up this episode to hopefully find this interesting valuable in some way and helps you to prepare for the big game on Monday Monday Night Football and I think I alluded to it in that episode I did do with the guys from Southampton and that I do love a Monday Night Football I do love a Monday Night Football under the lights the actual program as well Monday Night Football um

Monday Night Football and Bournemouth vs. Southampton

00:01:13
afcbournement
Traditionally, obviously, you had Jamie and Gary on Sky Sports, but obviously now, but you know, kind of a random guest mostly joined Jamie. And um that's Jamie Carragher. And, um you know, I love the review of the weekend they do before the game. I love ah pretty much most things about Monday Night Football. So there hasn't been one for since I think since the first week of the new Premier League season and so I'm really looking forward to getting back to another Monday Night Football. It happens to be Bournemouth against Southampton. That is the game that will be played under
00:01:52
afcbournement
the light. So as I alluded to that in this episode I want to kind of review some of the, or reminisce maybe is is a good word, some of the fixed some of the previous results of this fixture if that makes sense. And down the last time this game was played was over, well actually probably now
00:02:16
afcbournement
18 months ago maybe 18 months ago where Bournemouth, so it was on the 27th of April in the Premier League, Bournemouth beat Southampton. Bournemouth beat Southampton. They're 1-0 at Southampton Stadium. The Chirras went away and got a 1-0 win. Now what I will actually say that there was also a preseason friendly that summer. So um that summer where Bournemouth also went to St Mary's and won 3-2, obviously that's a preseason friendly and so does that for most people that won't count. But
00:02:52
afcbournement
um So basically like the last two times that Bournemouth went to Southampton they won, okay again, albeit won being a preseason friendly. So yeah make that what you what you will. um I just found that interesting. Now, as I alluded to there, that was 27th of April was was the last competitive game that was in the Premier League.
00:03:15
afcbournement
the game before that Southampton went to Dean Court and won 1-0 and then actually before that Southampton beat Bournemouth two more times in the FA Cup and in the Premier League. And then if we go back to 2019, that season, again, also in the Premier League, there was a free one win for Bournemouth and a free free draw. Back to 2018, 0-0 draw, 2-1 win Southampton. 2017, 0-0 draw, 1-1 draw. 2016,
00:03:59
afcbournement
3-1 win Southampton, 2-0 win Bournemouth and then there was the game in 2015 as well also in the Premier League and then we'll bring that to a close because then we dropped down to League One which is back in 2011, 2-0 win to Southampton, so Southampton's actually had a pretty good record against Bournemouth in the Premier League only losing three times the four draws and the four wins and then five wins all together if you count the FA Cup win in March 2021. So although the guys from the Southampton podcast wasn't very optimistic going this and that episode to kind of hear what they had to say and obviously they haven't had the best start um you know they're 17th above Wolves and Everton
00:04:50
afcbournement
They've got a pretty good record against us here, the Cherries, the Bournemouth, so Bournemouth better show up basically um kind of in this game or on Monday Night Football under the lights at 8pm. um Now if we look at in terms of ah

Bournemouth's Form and Scoring Challenges

00:05:09
afcbournement
Bournemouth being at home. Yeah, I mean, you know, so the game in October 2022, Southampton were away. The FA Cup game that I alluded to there. So even at even when Southampton come to Bournemouth, come to us, pretty good record. So it's going to be tough for Bournemouth, although pre the two big boys in Chelsea and Liverpool. I alluded to it to in the last episode, like we were on a pretty good streak of being unbeaten in the first few games of the season. And I think the challenge from a Bournemouth's perspective with Dom Snacking leaving is scoring goals. You know, Semenyo is um
00:05:56
afcbournement
top scorer, Dislau goal in the last game, um he's got 2-5 this season and the one assist, clays more plays more wide, does come inside, but now plays more wide because Evangelson's up top. And it's difficult for Evangelson I think because adapting to the Premier League, it takes time, we know it takes time.
00:06:21
afcbournement
So really from a goal scoring perspective, there's not much for Bournemouth or for both teams to kind of get excited about because that's a challenge, right? It's a challenge for both team to both teams to score goals. I think the strength for both teams is in in in the middle. That's kind of what it sounded like when it did speak to the Southampton guys. um So we will see. We will see what we will see what happens in this game.
00:06:49
afcbournement
um
00:06:51
afcbournement
And if Semenyo has his scoring boots on, because I think Semenyo and Clive are, while Van Jusen's adaptions to the Premier League is going to be Bournemouth's biggest goal threat. Tevinene hasn't she really shown up this season ah from a goal scoring point. I think most players contribute to the team in and their own way. Maybe that's my optimism.
00:07:15
afcbournement
optimistic ah side coming out, and but you know you want we want more from the attacking players. and um for Travis and just not just not happening for him right now. um Interestingly, Dominic will probably have a lot more insight into this when when they're back and and that because they ah go you know to Bournemouth Games and follow our Instagram, GSP in Bournemouth, because you'll often see them in in in in the stands and stuff, so you might want to check out that podcast. um

Upcoming Game Predictions

00:07:49
afcbournement
But yeah, so but that's looking at this game from a historical um
00:07:55
afcbournement
perspective really, you know, Southampton have had a really good record and um Probably go into this game if you look at just that record Optimistic but then looking at this season Hasn't been that good so far with both teams struggling To To score goals, so um Yeah, that's what I wanted to touch on in in this episode. My prediction, my preview, um my prediction for this game is a 2-1 AFC Bournemouth win with Semenyo and Ivanielson getting on the scores here. I do think Ivanielson will come good. Like, if you look at his record for
00:08:48
afcbournement
at FC Porto we got him from. Then you would see that he has a addition decent decent. Can't talk today guys. Decent ish record with 37 in 96 in
00:09:11
afcbournement
domestic league, um which isn't which isn't too bad. He also showed up a few times for their B team and scored a few more goals. So yeah, you know it's it's it's difficult for him. Good signing, in's good signing I do think, for Bournemouth, but um I do think he'll get is yeah his this weekend or or you know this Monday.
00:09:39
afcbournement
ah so
00:09:43
afcbournement
So yeah, but let's take a quick, a very quick break because this is going to be a short episode because I just ah want to mention one of our partners here at GSPN. um So we'll take that quick break right now and then we'll be right back.

00:11:06
afcbournement
Hi guys, welcome back with me, your host, Liberoz, and this is a solo one, again, today as it was on World Card Wednesday when I reviewed Liverpool against Bournemouth, as my colleagues here are away. But yeah, so in this episode so far, I've mainly looked at a little bit of, going back through the history books, so so to speak, between these and two clubs and the fixtures and between the two clubs with really, I think the consensus is Southampton coming out on top.
00:11:51
afcbournement
um But interestingly, so if we also look at from a Bournemouth, Southampton and perspective, like players,

Players of Both Teams

00:12:02
afcbournement
that I played for both clubs. Most recently, most recently um David Brooks went on loan from Bournemouth to the Saints last last season. Also, Rothwell as well, ah two players that got brought up in my conversation with the guys from Southampton. And Ryan Fraser, who's currently at Southampton, um hopefully doesn't score Monday night, um is is also um
00:12:35
afcbournement
Yeah, he's also an ex-Bournemouth player and actually done a lot for the club when he was playing under Eddie Howe and that release. So it would just like focusing on um Ryan Fraser, you know, they've got him from Aberdeen.
00:12:53
afcbournement
stayed until he went to Newcastle back in 2020. And done pretty well for for us, and to be to be honest. then And so there are a few players that who have played for both clubs, including also Rumsdale as well. So if you also look at Rumsdale, who signed for Southampton
00:13:24
afcbournement
this summer, um probably could feel himself a bit unlucky with his situation at Arsenal, um but is and that also an ex. Bournemouth player was at our club for ah two three seasons 2017 to 2020 before going back to Sheffield United and we were actually linked with him I think Vic told me a story in the summer because obviously we were after a goalkeeper here at Bournemouth and um got Kepper in the end but um it was interesting because we were also linked with
00:14:06
afcbournement
Ramsdale and alongside obviously a few other keepers as well. ah So it's interesting, it's interesting. So there's a few few players who or few recent players who um who have played for both
00:14:29
afcbournement
teams. I'm just thinking if I'm missing

Fan Engagement and Social Media

00:14:32
afcbournement
and anyone else. so In recent years um also Andrew Sermon I believe played for both for both clubs and also Adam Lallana also played for both clubs this season or was it this season? Yeah this season went back to Southampton. He was on loan at Bournemouth all the way back in 2007. Really made of his name at Southampton before going to Liverpool for was about six years. He was there for six seasons.
00:15:11
afcbournement
um
00:15:12
afcbournement
came through the Southampton Academy, but also in his youth career did um play for Bournemouth as well. So a few connections down there on mia on the coastline, right? um So yeah, Adam Lallana as well, forgot about him. um Andrew Sermon, I also believe, played for both clubs. We've also got
00:15:41
afcbournement
Ryan Bertrand played for both clubs. So, are they from a Bournemouth perspective? It was on Lyon, so he played like only a handful of games. From a Southampton perspective, he obviously signed there after a decent loan spell, ah then moved on to Leicester that didn't end too good, but we'll leave we leaveve that one for now. um So that's another player. So yeah, there's quite a lot of links and between between the two clubs, to be honest. I was thinking if I'm missing anyone.
00:16:20
afcbournement
um
00:16:21
afcbournement
I probably am. if you If you can think of any other players that played for both Southampton and Bournemouth, especially in recent times, then hit hit us up over on Twitter, TikTok, or Instagram, just type in GSPM Bournemouth and we will come up. But guys, so I'm going to bring this one to
