Leicester's Mixed History Against Bournemouth

00:01:59
officialgspn
Lester Bournemouth. Wow, I believe We all have to fight for three points in that game, especially with the start that that both teams had this season. Jake, you're the home team. So what do you think? How leicester how how were Leicester games against Bournemouth in the last few years? And obviously, Leicester just got promoted back to the Premier League. So what what's your opinion? What's your opinion on the past, let's say?
00:02:31
Jake Leatherland
So on the past, obviously the two teams played last season at Bournemouth and we managed to come away with an FA Cup victory.
00:02:39
officialgspn
That's true.
00:02:39
Jake Leatherland
Abdul Fattawi with a ah great strike in extra time I think. But yeah, generally I think the games over the last sort of 10 years or so since Bournemouth have been in the Premier League and obviously we were for a long time and have been quite mixed.
00:02:50
Jake Leatherland
and We had quite a poor run really. I think Bournemouth were probably our bogey team or one of if if you look back at some of the games actually I think we didn't win for a number of years and we certainly didn't win at Bournemouth away for for quite a while in the league so yeah a mixed bag and I think if it over the last 15 games between the teams it's been five wins each something like that it's quite shared and possibly we might see an even game on Saturday yeah there's but there've been some interesting games over the last few years
00:03:24
officialgspn
Well, I look forward to see what what we're going to bring back from Leicester, definitely. I think, yeah, I actually, I completely forgot about the Cup game. I was at the game, I was i was at the ground. I watched the Cup, yeah, i went into extra time. And yeah, i was I was hoping to go and watch the next game away. I'm not going to lie.
00:03:48
officialgspn
but didn't happen. I still got my four cup points from last season that I did manage to carry on this season. So, and yeah, the first game we lost against West Ham in Karbau Cup. We're going to look forward to the other cup games that are coming. Hopefully the next one will be played at Vitality.

Jamie Vardy's Impact and Career Speculations

00:04:08
officialgspn
But I think
00:04:11
officialgspn
I think there's one man to be scared of. And that's Jamie Vardy. I don't know. Every time I talk about Lester, I think about Lester. It's always Jamie Vardy. It's always Jamie Vardy.
00:04:21
officialgspn
He's going to come and break the corner flag. He's going to do this. He's going to do that. Living legend. He's 37, 38 now.
00:04:27
Jake Leatherland
absolutely yes yeah that's for sure
00:04:29
officialgspn
and Still smashing, still scoring. He might not be able to give 100% or 90 minutes, but he definitely leaves the mark when he gets on the pitch.
00:04:45
officialgspn
and And yeah, we've we've seen that in in the past few years, we've seen his his talent, his his scoring skills. Everybody loves Wavadi because he used to play in the National League and we all know how how he came to to play in the Premier League and get his place in the national team for a bit. But some of the goals that he scored, I'd say he's rather passionate and I believe that he's going to retire in Leicester is as as well.
00:05:12
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, I'm certainly, I guess i'm I'm hoping so at this point. He's had a couple of opportunities to leave. He could have left last summer. had some offers from abroad. His contract was up at the end of last season. So, you know, again, he he could have walked away. He could have done whatever he wanted, but it seemed quite evident with a few games left that.
00:05:32
Jake Leatherland
actually he was going to stick around for at least another year so we've got him for at least one more season to be honest he he seems timeless every time he's he's written off he he scores a goal he's called in Tottenham you know in that first game of the season he's called in his Crystal Palace as you say he's not going to give you 90 minutes anymore somewhere around the 75 mark and but he's always a threat he's still got good pace incredible pace really for his age as you're right i think he's 37 now he's always a threat he has scored some goals against Bournemouth in the past
00:06:02
Jake Leatherland
and he's still you know without him last season we wouldn't have got promoted which make of that what you will that we've got a 37-year-old who was really carrying the team at points at the back end of last season
00:06:14
officialgspn
Yeah, definitely. i I mean, I think he he can probably be there for another couple of years. If Lester stays in Premier League next season, maybe and then probably retire. I can't see him going anywhere else, especially not abroad. I think that's that's, you know, Jamie Varus. I mean, yeah he's he's won the Premier League. of the biggest achievements that did the football player can, you know,
00:06:40
officialgspn
get an unlucky with the with the European competitions but I think his dream is way fulfilled and I think he he might be ending career on on on

Recent Performances of Both Teams

00:06:53
officialgspn
that. you know Talking about some other other games so far Bournemouth obviously had a 3-1 win against Southampton, Leicester lost to Arsenal 4-2. Do you think you could have done more against Arsenal?
00:07:14
Jake Leatherland
um um and No, probably not. We were we were tad lucky and a tad unlucky and I say that in the sense of unlucky because the the goal that won Arsenal the game was was deflected off Wilfred and indeed, he said it was an own goal and obviously they scored another at the end but so we were tad unlucky in that sense but also a tad fortunate that Matt Hermanson, our goalkeeper, was absolutely unbelievable and made save after save after save even though we actually made a couple of errors there's one which everyone would have probably seen if it was the highlights where he tries to play the ball out it gives it a away. Trossard really should score he makes a good save and he made lots of saves so that's why I say in a sense we were tad lucky because on another day maybe he doesn't make those saves and we see a few more goals go past us but ah ah no you know what at halftime I was looking at it going with 2-0 down
00:08:01
Jake Leatherland
this could be three, four, five and then you're really demoralised where it was actually you know for 94 minutes we were drawing 2-2 at the Emirates and every Leicester fan would have snatched your hand off for that before the game started so actually I feel more positive.
00:08:17
Jake Leatherland
based off that second half performance. So far what we've seen this season is we can't marry up two halves of football in terms of our performance and it's more often than not the first half that's letting us down. um i'm I'm hoping sooner rather than later that's going to change but we'll see if that's Saturday or not.
00:08:33
officialgspn
Well, especially because, was it just in scored both goals for for for Leicester, right? He's a defender.
00:08:39
Jake Leatherland
yeah
00:08:39
officialgspn
I mean, yeah, he he turned into a striker against the Arsenal.
00:08:40
Jake Leatherland
yeah yeah
00:08:44
officialgspn
and ah yeah well i mean we we we I don't know if you watched the highlights of the game against against Southampton that we played back on Monday, but we definitely knew what we wanted out of that game and we showed that in the first 40 minutes, first half. We let Southampton play football maybe first seven minutes and and that's it. and um um I really loved what I've seen on the pitch. When Southampton scored the first goal in the second half,
00:09:13
officialgspn
I wasn't scared at all. I wasn't afraid that they were going to come back. umm I just saw Bohm taking all three points there, even ahead of the game. and and And that's what they did. And hopefully that will give them wings too to come and get three points away from ah from Leicester.
00:09:30
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, well, hope hopefully not for for us guys.
00:09:33
Jake Leatherland
I know the last time we played it at the King Power was one of the games that sort of sent us down. And I think it was a James Madison back pass.
00:09:43
Jake Leatherland
And I think Philip Billing ended up running from scoring, which ended up being the winner. And unfortunately, as I say, we ended up going down and that was one of those games where we only needed one more point.
00:09:53
Jake Leatherland
So, you know, with hindsight, that might've been the difference.
00:10:00
officialgspn
Right, okay, well, before we carry on, get into the second segment, which is gonna go on a quick outbreak. And the yeah, see you shortly.
00:10:21

Expectations and Predictions for the Upcoming Game

00:11:17
officialgspn
We are back, second segment, talking about this weekend's game, Leicester versus Bournemouth, King Power Stadium, Leicester playing home. Jake, your expectations. Please tell me you're happy with the draw.
00:11:35
Jake Leatherland
oh Well, to be honest, ah ah we haven't won yet, so we need a win. We do need a win. Would I be happy with a draw? I don't know, possibly, because I respect Bournemouth a lot. Although you you've only won two games this season, I liked what I saw last season and and the the bits that I've got to see this season, like the Newcastle game.
00:11:53
Jake Leatherland
But really we we need to try and get a win, sooner literally sooner rather than later. We've got a nice little run of fixtures, like we're playing in Southampton, Nottingham, Forest, a couple of others in there where where realistically we've got to get points. So for us already, it's a real opportunity to get three points, not taking anything away from Bournemouth because we know it'll be a tough game. But yeah, we we need that three points just to to really get our season going. and
00:12:20
officialgspn
So I was researching a bit, so talking about the the previous head-to-head games. Last 12 games, Bournemouth won 5, 5 draws and Leicester won only 2. Now there were, in in those 5 wins, there were 3 consecutive wins for Bournemouth and I'm really hoping we're going to get onto to the 6th.
00:12:41
officialgspn
Luckily, you you did get a draw against Tottenham, but you drew against Everton as well, which we managed to turn around coming from 2-0 down in the last 10-ish minutes of the game.
00:12:53
officialgspn
probably that should have been three points for Leicester. We're seeing the way Everton plays this season. And obviously in the last few, they were always nearly relegated. They were just coming back, you know, in the last couple of games, managing to stay. But I think this year, Everton will go down if if they keep playing like this. it's It's not looking well for them. It's definitely not looking well for them.
00:13:22
officialgspn
Obviously yeah talking about the last games so Bournemouth coming with a win, Leicester lost to Southampton with defenders scoring two goals for Leicester Strikers were feeling asleep. Maybe they wake up now, hopefully not. um um On the other hand, we had our first Evannilsson's goal this this Monday. So the new striker finally managed to find the net. And I did say in one of the previous episodes that he just needs to to to to find the opener. And once he scores, he's going to score almost
00:13:57
officialgspn
almost every game, but I said confidently every other game. I'd love to see now, Evanelson scoring game after game, you know, because that will give him a big, huge boost. Again, some of the other other guys, Semenyo, I had different opinions at the start of the season. And now,
00:14:20
officialgspn
and watching of the games, I'm changing my mind they about Semenya. At first I said he was a very selfish player and looking at the stats and everything, he's the in the whole Premier League, he's the player with the with the most creative chances and most goal attempts. So I'm glad that he plays for Bournemouth because he's actually a threat to every team and hopefully we're not going to lose him at the end of the season. I believe this is one of the players that Leicester should be looking to
00:14:52
officialgspn
Maybe Mark with two players up next game.
00:14:54
Jake Leatherland
Yeah.
00:14:55
officialgspn
So yeah.
00:14:56
Jake Leatherland
so Quickly on Semenyo, a few years ago I lived in Cardiff and used to watch Newport County, and and this is going somewhere. Anton Semenyo was on loan there when he was, I don't know, 18 or 19.
00:15:06
officialgspn
We're at Bristol.
00:15:09
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, at Bristol Sea, but out on loan, yeah, at Newport County, and and he he was one of the first players I saw in Newport.
00:15:10
officialgspn
Hello, I'm from Bristol, yeah.
00:15:15
Jake Leatherland
I'd had Ben Wye and a few other guys who now play Premier League, but yeah i really liked him he only played half a season unfortunately and then i think chelsea bid for him he obviously didn't end up moving but yeah he's a player i've always kept an eye on i really liked him then the to see him grow literally in terms of his height and his size was quite small back then he's hes grew incredibly as a player and as person and yeah i know he's going to be a massive threat on saturday if he does score i'll have to hold back a ah small smile because i'll be thinking about to when I saw him play when he was 18 or 19 but hopefully I don't see that and he has a good game but doesn't score and and the result goes less his way.

Team Lineups and Key Players for the Fixture

00:15:54
officialgspn
Well, I think Semeni is definitely one player to look forward to keep an eye on. He's got three goals so far this season in the six Premier League games.
00:16:09
officialgspn
Again, I don't want to jinx it, but is James Justin going to be starting the game?
00:16:17
Jake Leatherland
almost certainly him and Christian have played every game so Justin will play Justin so far this season a lot of goals have been conceded from his side and now he's scoring them so it seems almost inevitable that a goal is going to come from our right hand side of the pitch it's just which end we'll see
00:16:35
officialgspn
Right, well, I'm not going to lie, but I really hope for that clean sheet. With Kepa in goal, I'll keep her on loan from from Chelsea. i I really hope for a clean sheet. Neil, Neil, I would be about 15% happy with the draw, but I really hope we we we can get we can get three points in in king power King Power Stadium.
00:17:02
officialgspn
and Another one, well, Lewis Cook. Lewis Cook is in great form now. I expect him to start every single game, at least until the the end of the first half of the season. He had two assists against Southampton. He was the man of the match.
00:17:18
officialgspn
I think he won one more a Man of the Match award since the start of the Premier League and that's a really, really, I mean, huge boost of confidence for for Lewis Cook. New players such as Raoul Hall are right back.
00:17:40
officialgspn
probably probably will start. reckon I can see that Iraola is what what he's doing he's doing a rotation between him and Adam Smith depending on the teams we play against. If the wingers are a bit You know faster with more pace. He he'll rather put a rajo is a bit quicker than smith smith is now already his 30s plays more with the experience. I'm not saying he's bad. He's great. He's now the captain he had a ah great game against Southampton as well Obviously did extend his contract for another two years. So so I think same as Vardy He will probably retire in Bournemouth once it comes the the time, you know
00:18:23
officialgspn
I've already mentioned every game is the same. We we seem to start with that 4-2-3-1 formation with two of the central tack in midfield is turning into wingers, which are usually Semenyo and Clivett, or the last game against Southampton, Semenyo and Dango Tara. Clivett might be starting this game. We also go Sinisterra, who is coming off the bench, usually second half, where you can see that he really makes an impact and then, then you know, he he always gives he gives his 100% when he comes on the pitch.
00:19:02
officialgspn
Right, ah ah time for another break and then we're gonna come back and do some score predictions and also team predictions.
00:19:14
officialgspn
Happy without Jake?
00:19:16
Jake Leatherland
Absolutely. Let's do it.
00:19:17
officialgspn
Right, we'll be back shortly.
00:19:29
officialgspn
Do you have a story to tell that the world needs to hear? Have you struggled with reaching new audiences who are engaged with your story? It might be time for you to start a podcast. 00:20:27
officialgspn
Right, back for the third one, third segment, Jake. Score prediction first.
00:20:34
Jake Leatherland
but Well, I think other than the Arsenal game, every time i've I've done a crossover, I've always i've always gone for a draw actually, which not very optimistic usually. But on this occasion, I'm going to go for a 2-1 victory. I don't can't see us keeping a clean sheet. We haven't yet this season in the league. and But equally, we've scored in every game and all our games have been quite tight. So I'm going to go for a very tight game, we've just about come away with a 2-1 victory.
00:21:02
officialgspn
to one right I was expecting we were going to say a brace foods for Jamie Vardy but
00:21:06
Jake Leatherland
um Jamie Vardy, because why not? Because he he's always a threat. And I'm going to go for ah Jordan IU. I'm going to go for something different. Jordan IU, he hasn't scored yet for us in the league. um So ah something different. and Yeah.
00:21:26
Jake Leatherland
No, um think a few people would expect that. so yeah Jordan, are you we've got Stephanie Mavididi, one of those guys.
00:21:32
officialgspn
Yeah, I'm Avididi.
00:21:33
Jake Leatherland
I haven't mentioned him yet.
00:21:33
officialgspn
but
00:21:35
Jake Leatherland
He's a very, very good player. He's probably someone I should have said really. He's he's always a threat. One of those guys hopefully scores for us on Saturday.
00:21:47
officialgspn
And Beaumont is their own goal from James Justin.
00:21:52
Jake Leatherland
really hope not. and If he's given me an own goal, wow Fazzy's probably a good shout in our defence, but no, someone like Semenyo or Ivanielson, yeah, I saw his goal against Southampton and your right might be the time where, you know, once he gets one goal, he goes on a bit of a streak.
00:21:53
officialgspn
yeah I like fires.
00:22:10
Jake Leatherland
I'm going to go Semenyo because now you've mentioned him and I thought about it. I'm going to go Semenyo because it almost seems written that he's going to score. Now we've talked about him.
00:22:19
officialgspn
So one thing I forgot to ask when we when we when asked about the score, so who do you think was score first?
00:22:21
Jake Leatherland
you
00:22:26
officialgspn
How do you think the score will will will go?
00:22:29
Jake Leatherland
Based on our games, you ah ah other than Crystal Palace, I think we've scored second in every game. I think I'm right in saying in the Premier League. So yeah, that was that's the only game we've scored first.
00:22:38
Jake Leatherland
So probably you, if you do.
00:22:40
officialgspn
So one nil.
00:22:41
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, it might be a bit difficult for us to come back from that. But we've we've shown again, we've shown every game we can score and we can. do I see us really going 1-0 down and coming back to win 2-1 might be difficult. So I'm going to hope, I'm going to say we're going to score first and that's what's going to push us on to then go win the game.
00:22:58
officialgspn
So 1-0, 1-1, 2-1.
00:23:01
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, got yeah so something like that. To be honest, as long as we win, we're we're a bit desperate at this point. As long as we win, that's that's all that I'm hoping for.
00:23:10
officialgspn
Right. OK. I'll go for 1-0.
00:23:12
Jake Leatherland
but
00:23:13
officialgspn
1-0 to boom it. Right?
00:23:16
Jake Leatherland
okay
00:23:16
officialgspn
i don't I don't know why. I don't think there will be many goals. I think that both teams will rather wait for someone's mistake to try and score because, uh, Lester, yeah, Lester with three points so far, um, six games, they need to go for a win, but they also, uh, know that they can usually concede the first. So Boomer is rather the team who is, let's say more keen to come back after the conceded goal.
00:23:50
officialgspn
I really have a feeling that we're going to manage to keep the clean sheet and win with one goal difference and I'll go for Semenyo scoring this time. I would usually go for a Valison and and the last crossover episode that my colleagues did, I wasn't there.
00:24:10
officialgspn
the first time I didn't say Vanilsson he scored so ah I'm not gonna say again maybe he scores right but I'll go for Semenya 1-0 and probably second half goal from yeah I think yeah if they go with nil-nil into second half then it might open the game a bit more um I don't know
00:24:27
Jake Leatherland
So tight first half, KG game.
00:24:39
officialgspn
probably we'll see plenty of corners because we know the Lester's got good defenders who can jump high, they're tall, they're strong, obviously James Justin and then Vuth Fiess. And Bournemouth is a team that usually at home gets lots of corners. i I try and go and watch most of the games Bournemouth plays at home.
00:25:04
officialgspn
And it's ridiculous that almost every home game, there's over like 10 corner kicks the game. And for people who bet, this might be a good prediction.
00:25:12
Jake Leatherland
i was just thinking that
00:25:13
officialgspn
you know ah But yeah, i think I think there will be many corners. Tough game with minimal score, 1-0 to Bournemouth.
00:25:24
officialgspn
And yeah, looking forward to the next the game against Arsenal, which is the ah ah internet after the international break that we're playing.
00:25:33
officialgspn
So you had Arsenal, we have Arsenal now here at home.
00:25:34
Jake Leatherland
I was just thinking that.
00:25:37
officialgspn
If we get a win against Leicester, that might give us even bigger boost to to go three consecutive games without loss. So yeah.
00:25:50
officialgspn
Team prediction for you. Lester, obviously you did mention Vardy, Fius, James, Justin, Mavididi, IU. Any other names that you are quite confident will be in the starting 11?
00:26:03
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, the certs are like Harry Winks, Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Christensen. So far, last few games, Caleb Okele, who's our other centre back, Mads Hermanson in goal. So most of them, to be honest, are dead certs. Our main two positions that we might see something different are the right wing. I mentioned Jordan IU, but it might be Abdul Fattawi who comes back in, or Buenenote, who can play more out there. Or we see Buenenote online from Brighton, playing more in the number 10.
00:26:32

or El Canouse who we've we've signed from the Belgium league for Moroccan. We might see him. He's played against Everton, didn't necessarily impress, but very early days for him. So he sort of that number 10 position, someone like Buena Notte, I hope will play because he's been brilliant for us so far this season, really, really like him. And I think he could make the difference. um Steve Cooper so far has been a little bit defensive, which is cause some criticism, some negativity, partly rightly, partly wrongly, some I disagree with, some I agree with, in some games. And and I look at Bournemouth as the sort of game of to put Wernher Notte in, not to go gun-ho by any means, but for someone a bit more creative, um because we'll have a little bit more of the ball, certainly more of the ball than we were ever going to have at the Emirates against Arsenal.

Yeah, I think Bologna is a great central attack in mid, and I think his time is yet to come. just give it yeah Just give him time. believe it's the same case with the Van Helsen. Just give him time. They need to get used to it. Right. so I tried to change twice and tried to guess that Iraola might be starting with a different formation, but it just doesn't happen. It's not happening. So I have to go with 4-2-3-1, because that's what he plays and that's what he won't change. So Kepengol, I mentioned earlier, I think he will start with the Rauho on the right side, left side, Kirkis. He needs to be careful because the next yellow card means that he's going to be

pausing the game after so yeah hopefully won't won't get carded but I can see him starting the game then Centerbacks Zabani and Huisen I'll go for Huisen this time maybe maybe even Senecian Huisen the new Centerback Though, yeah, four at the back, I don't think it all will change. Again, Cook has to start. He's been great lately. Had a central defensive mid. Now, I think he will start with Alex Scott rather than Christie. I don't know why. I just have that feeling. Christie did have one good chance in the second half against Southampton, but

I don't know. I remember the the end of last season, he's been very, very proactive and and he's he he he's been everywhere on the pitch. And every time I went towards the home game, you could just see him everywhere. Every every third touch was Ryan Christie. He was asking for the ball in the feet, coming to get the ball, you know processing the ball, turning around, passing further, coming back again. But He seems to be lacking that this season. I don't know, maybe he needs time to get in form. Hopefully, hopefully that's ah that's the case. Three center attack in mid slash wingers. I'll go for Tavernier. Tavernier is having a solid start of the season. Semenya obviously has to play with ah with with with the form that he is in now.

Clivett, I think Clivett will start the game and so Solo Striker and Vanilson are front. and the Yeah, hopefully we'll see Unal and Sinisterra coming off the bench later.

Hopefully that goal from Unal, I love when he scores because he doesn't score very often, he doesn't play much. But when he scores, it's a special feeling when Unal scores. I don't know how to explain it.

You probably have similar players in Leicester that when they score, it feels special.
00:30:19
Jake Leatherland
Yeah, yeah.

And Unal is one of them. And yeah, on that note, I think we're done here for today.
