Bournemouth vs Brentford: A Disappointing Loss

00:01:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
my voice. I'm not very happy ah of course not know after we've been in the lead obviously ah twice very unlucky I must say that crossbar again in the in the last minute ah yeah it's just it's just one of the days I guess Brentford however remained undefeated at home this season um it's well
00:01:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
The funny thing is that Bournemouth was looking much better um on the pitch, had more chances than Brentford, had some incredible misses, like the one couple of minutes before we scored the first goal actually when Sennessey just hit it over the crossbar. ah I watched highlights in many different languages and almost all of the commentators were saying after that miss, why the hell did he do it with the outside of his left foot?
00:02:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
The blow was clearly crossed and going onto his right foot, even with the inside. He could have just hit it, but he he was so confident to hit it with the outside of the boot and managed to miss the goal from five yards distance.
00:02:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah But apart from that, I mean, Fleckin was brilliant. It's one of the players that I mentioned in our pre-match. review and yeah flaking another great game he had some amazing saves the first 10 minutes the menu had a great shot and yeah if if we would have scored that senes his goal and then the second one when a values install the ball we don't know how the game will go on
00:03:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
But again, we had lead twice. We lost the game in the end. Brentford did just brenford what Brentford does at home, um just the bees. Eventually, yeah, they they um they managed to get back into the game.

Match Predictions and Game Dynamics

00:03:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah It took, actually, nearly 20 minutes for Brentford to create a good opportunity and have a short and dormant goal.
00:03:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:03:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
And neither, I'm just sad. Honestly, I'm just sad. Sad to finish this great run against top top clubs. I expected another win. I nearly got the score correct. i My prediction was 3-2 to Bournemouth, not 3-2 to Brantford. But I did guess the goals. um And me and Lydia, um who does the podcast for ah for the bees, um said the same, that there will be loads of goals.
00:04:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Yeah, five goals in total. So it seems like the last few games between Bournemouth and Brentford end up in loads of goals on both sides. um Last game, we'll remember last season against Brentford.
00:04:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
85, nearly 86 minutes um of the game. No goals at all. And then the last seven, eight minutes, three goals. And again, we lost to one, even in Vitality. ah But now this this time, i I think next, um the second half of the season, when they come to play at Vitality, we have to win that one. Definitely. We we must not waste the points on on that one again.

Player Performances and Substitutions

00:04:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Some of the players, again, were brilliant. um I think, for Bournemouth, specifically, Lewis Cook did stand out for the whole game. He was just just brilliant. Cooky did what Cooky does.
00:04:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah However, ah one thing that I didn't really like, and maybe some of you will disagree with me, but ah seeing Kepa backing goal after a couple of really good games for Mark Travers, he was brilliant. um Kepa was backing goal and he didn't seem very confident. um In the beginning, he had a couple of dropped balls and then second half as well, um some of the dangerous situations where
00:05:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
One of them, I remember watching the game, Kirkus had to kick the ball out ah when ah yeah Kepa rushed out, but miss completely missed the ball, mischarged it. and yeah he He was a bit short um to box or or even pick that ball up.
00:05:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah On the other side, ah I think Wisser, great return. He was injured for some time, um played the last couple of games for Brentford, started this one, and yeah, he he would just it was just good. We all know Wisser's strength is is his pace, and he managed to outrun a few times Senesee and Zabani. Zabani, who got his first yellow card ah this season,
00:06:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's an SC, not really a great game. um He was obviously subbed around 17th minute. Huizin came on. He had a good game, I'd say. um He was the one to um to be in the box as well when Bournemouth hit the crossbar in the 97th minute where we could have equalised, but unlucky. It doesn't happen every game. It doesn't happen every game.
00:06:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
But we did manage that against Villa. So I did see some of the players also getting injured, which did shock me a bit. ah But then thinking of um the international break coming, that might be a good thing for everyone to to to to recover properly and head into the next game against Brighton, which we're going to be hosting at Vitality.
00:07:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Uh, Clivett, good game, solid game, Kirk has had a few bits and pieces that weren't right, had a few misses, missed tackles, but overall he did well.
00:07:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
um not Kirk is that we did get to see in the last two games, but he's still there. um He's still there. And I believe already in the next game, he will make make a difference and maybe make another assist, hopefully against Brighton.
00:07:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
um um Yeah, so we didn't, unfortunately, we didn't um managed to ah retain the that lead of 1-1. Once Brentford scored the second one, I saw the third one coming in as well. I i don't know why. and And I did believe by the end that that we were going to equalise somehow with luck, but we didn't.
00:08:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
we didn't and um I'm sorry that Bulmuth didn't actually manage to to break that unbeaten home run for Brentford.

Key Match Moments and Analysis

00:08:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, time for a quick ad break and we'll be back um to present you in a few words the way the game went on and um how the goals and actions um actually on the pitch played out.
00:09:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello again, we're back. Vic, your host for today, i'm talking about um post-match review against Brentford. We played on Saturday, resulted in a loss 3-2, and we'll be going through some of the goals and important moments um just to sort of summarize for anyone who haven't watched the game.
00:10:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
um So Boomer started off really well, um had the had the initiative over the whole first half I'd say. um First 10 minutes, Semenyo had one chance where his strike was blasting into the goal but fine stop from Fleckin.
00:10:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah The next couple of minutes there was an amazing cross from Ryan Christie from the right-hand side into the box, skipped over the whole defense where Sennessey found himself open ah and tried to score with his left um outside of the boot and he missed the whole goal completely. um Again, saying nobody knows why he why he tried to shoot with his outside he's left outside of the booty. The cross came from the right-hand side, but he probably felt so confident and he probably felt that was the best decision, the best opportunity for him to lead to the cherries. Eventually, Brentford complacency gifted the visitors, um so ah deserved lead. Sevvander Berg,
00:11:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
one of the guys who arrived in Bournemouth, in Brentford, in the beginning of the season, ah he made a waffle back pass and luckily Vanilsson was just there, sneaking up behind the last defender, cut the ball short, um went one-on-one on the keeper, dribbled the keeper, had an open goal and scored for Bournemouth, which so and and in trance.
00:11:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was not to the ground, unfortunately, but I was watching the game and following as I do every other game. So um when i when I saw how Bournemouth played from the beginning and when we scored, I thought that was going to be an easy win for Bournemouth, honestly.
00:12:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
um It took actually after that um about 10 minutes for Brentford to make their first effort to the goal. So we're talking about 20 minutes into the game. Brentford has done nothing.
00:12:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
um And after that first shot, five minutes later, second one attempt from Jan-Elt. Equalized.
00:12:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah
00:12:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Unfortunately, yeah. um So next one, we failed to clear along Jens' throw-in. Visa got at the end of a high looping flick on to head beyond Kepa. Everyone stood, thought that Visa was offside. There was the VAR check for an actual handball. Some of the fans were claiming there was a foul committed on Adams, who who was well was attempting to clear the ball, but Jenson managed to out jump him and ah just passed the ball back to the far post. Kepa, nothing, frozen.
00:13:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah and And that was probably the last real action of of quite entertaining first half we had to watch. So we were hoping to see more goals in the second half and more to come from Bournemouth to take again that lead.
00:13:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah which did happen. ah Luckily, Clyvert got another one on the score sheet, 47th minute. um Again, scoring from the set piece, brilliant play um from Christi to Clyvert. Clyvert 1-2 with Lewis Cook and just found himself about 10 yards away from goal and with his strike into the near post, managed to score and got the 2-1 to Bournemouth.
00:14:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
That didn't last for longer, fortunately, because from the restart, ah Brentford ah restored parity for the second time, where Damsgaard just found a gap somehow and also struck at to the at at the near Kepa's near post. Many would say who watched that, that was probably Kepa's mistake, why he kept the the the near post open. Yeah, I'd probably say the same from my goalkeeper's point of view. um Yeah, yeah, so just unlucky. ah And yeah, just before the 60th minute, actually, we again, one-on-one with Kepa, just run behind the defense and manages just chip it in front of Kepa and send it to the back of the net for 3-2 to Brentford.
00:15:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Um, the way that the game carried on for the last half an hour, uh, boom, it did try to get that point at least out, but Brentford did slowly, um, take over the initiative of the game. Um, we saw in bell more, um, had a couple of good chances where, uh, one of them kept us saved. The other one just went, um, missed the post and, um,
00:15:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, then again, that last minute, last attack, a cross from Tavernier, inside, nice dribbling on the left-hand side, a cross for Union, who hit the crossbar, and unlucky, yeah, they managed to to kick the ball out. And yeah, that's when the ref decided to blow the final whistle.
00:15:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And unfortunately, yes, we lost the game, 3-2 to Brentford. Time for another break and we'll be back to you shortly.
00:17:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello everyone, welcome back.

Manager and Player Reflections

00:17:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
um To finish off this episode with some of the post-match interviews ah from the players and also Big Boss and Donny Iraola who was really unhappy, he was quite left frustrated after the defeat. um After the game Iraola actually said that it was a hard one um for them and he was in overall happy with the performance. um Especially in the first half, Beaumont was the better team and he believed that Beaumont actually could make the difference.
00:17:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah He said you finish 1-1 at half time and probably the second half has had less rhythm. There have been a lot of things but it has been more stop-and-go set plays, probably a key moment is when we concede after the 2-1. He also thinks the Brentford team plays very well every single second, every single minute and they manage very well every situation.
00:18:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
um Ira also told that Beaumont started really focused, winning the second balls, playing a lot in in in our half, and it wasn't easy to to to go and play away in that that kind of stadium and for for the full 90 minutes ah with that good atmosphere around.
00:18:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
and and especially knowing that Brentwood's home run is quite great, still undefeated. um you also said I wouldn't say 20 minutes, I would say the first half ah because I think overall we were having the clear chances and even in the second half probably we made mistakes after scoring and we haven't had this rhythm in the second half of playing, of having this level of football.
00:19:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
But still there, I think we've had the last one, the crossbar is a double header, we don't score. For me, the Ivanielson, one against keeper, is a clear penalty. We don't score, but we've had the chances. But more or less, the game has been what we expected, similar to the games Brentford has played here at home. The throw-ins, the kickoff, you have to manage these situations.
00:19:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
and they punish us there. But I think our performance deserves much, much more today. So in general, yeah he was happy with the performance of of his team, of the cherries, ah but he thought that we deserved more than then then to lose that game.
00:19:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Also, one of the other interviews from ah probably the man of the match, Wesa, he just said how happy he was to be back on the pitch, to be to be back in the team, to be back to playing in Brentford at home stadium in front of the fans and the family. um The atmosphere is crazy there. Every time we come on the pitch, I know we can do something. um I try my best to bring energy. I know I have a big role, and my job is to score some goals. And now I want more. So this opens the door, the question, will we see John Rissa maybe being transferred this?
00:20:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
um this winter or maybe at the end of the season, um she's got quite solid form to be honest. and ah yeah we We would do well with the kind of player ah that ah we say is in Bournemouth, but at the moment, I don't know, even though we lost this weekend, and i I still would would give these people a chance, because they can do really well. The chemistry team is great. ah We all know with the position changes and the high press, they're always playing. They're doing now an amazing job. um they' They've settled quite well now. They've learned most of the things, how Iola plays, how Iola works. And we can see that. We can definitely see that on the pitch.

Future Plans and Episode Wrap-up

00:21:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
And anyway, in overall we know that since 2019 we only managed to beat Brent for the ones. So, loads of goals in most of the games. ah Only one game actually since 2019 finished goalers in 2022.
00:21:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
uh 2022 where one net actually i if i remember well was the man of the match with some for crazy amazing saves um in vitality breath should have worn that one as well i'm lucky um we're lucky that we got a draw in the end uh but yeah people heads up um it's just one one of the lost games um i'm sure we'll be able to carry on ah playing with the form we were playing before this game because this game wasn't bad at all when you think it was
00:22:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm not going to say it was luck, but ah better team on the day won. Just because they were better on the day doesn't mean that they're better ah they're playing better than than us at the moment in the Premier League. So heads up, ah we've got the international break coming, so you might hear a few less episodes than you hear usually, but we'll definitely be back fully next week.
00:22:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
um And also don't forget to be there next Thursday where we're going to be doing the crossover episode with the guys from Brighton and hopefully host them um in the best possible way um and send them home with nil points. And on that note,
00:22:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll finish today's episode. Thank you so much for everyone for listening. ah Thank you for being a cherry supporter. um Thank you for all the feedbacks, all the comments, all the shares, likes, subscribes. Just keep going. Up the cherries.
