Bournemouth's Surprising Success

00:00:11
AFC Bournemouth
Hi everyone, welcome back to your Daily Warm-Off podcast with me, one of your hosts, Luke Burrows. And it's another solo one today, guys. And looking ahead to the weekend's game here on Forecast Friday, Forecast friday so i know that vic joined the team from the daily brentford podcast on crossover thursday so i hope that you enjoyed that one and yeah in this episode today we are going to continue that preview to the weekend's game where bournemouth do go to the Bees and are looking for another three points after some surprising but also great results right like I haven't actually spoken about I don't think I've spoken about but the three last results I know Vic and Dom have and if you go back a few episodes ago I was very pessimistic but also just kind of wondering and, skeptical I guess the word I'm looking for, where Bournemouth were going to get three points from, right? Like Arsenal, Villa and Man City. And to come out of that with two wins and a draw is like just amazing. So well done, Areola. Well done, the players. And yeah, this episode, we're going to build up to the next challenge, to the next game, the next Premier League got away

Away Game Challenges and Brentford History

game. And I think it's like, I think the thing with those results, minus the Villa, so the two wins against the two big hitters, is that they have been at home, right? And so home form has played a massive part in those games, I think. But going away to Villa Park and getting a point was also an amazing, and amazing, and amazing result, especially with away form like prior to then. And I was very sceptical after the Leicester game. So yeah, you know this is another challenge away from from home and one that Bournemouth are going to want to get three points. um So let's look at some insights into this game. So beaten are on a way in their last seven games against Bournemouth. So unbeaten. So, you know, is this one of our bogey teams? Who knows? Winning five, drawing two since a 1-0 away loss in the championship all like years ago, actually, 10 years ago now August 2014. Bournemouth haven't won an away league game against Brentford since October 2005 in League 1 2-0 so again that just proves to how difficult this game could potentially be how difficult it is

i think just generally going away from home when you're you know in like the football world you know her vantage is such a advantage i think especially we've you know like din call you know like the atmosphere in the ground do and they could both season tickets holders so you may have seen some of the um instagram reels on our instagram head on over to date i think it's uh gsp and bournemouth um if you click the link in the show notes below it is. our social our social links are there and dom and uh they usually post some uh some reels around like the atmosphere when they're in the stadium so important right um other insights about this game or about all just going into this

High-Scoring Games and Goal-Scoring Form

game in in general. in Brentford's last two Premier League home games have seen score a total of nine goals, but they also have conceded six. So that's a five-free win against Wolves and a four-free win against Ipswich, it was, wasn't it? And that's kind of a record. So no team in the english football league history have won three consecutive home games while conceding three goals each time so they score goals at home like that's clear but they also can see goals and with the form of Semenyo obviously Evanielsen got the equal I think, against Villa and also, again, scored against Sissi, I believe. I believe that's correct. Hopefully now for us, Bournemouth, that Scott goals are starting to come after, you know, like it's just football football changes changes so so quickly. A few episodes ago, I was like, one of our challenges is hitting the back of the net and then scoring two against Arsenal and City, which aren't easy things to do. Getting a goal at Villa Park, Vanjelsen chipping in there, obviously Semenyo., my point being Brentford concede goals, although they do score goals. And so will this also be another entertaining game like those two games, the Brentford Wolves and the Brentford-Ipswich game? And I remember listening to the, well, it would be yesterday's podcast with the Brentford guys. And there was a point in there where they were talking about the press and everything. And I think that if Bournemouth press, regain the ball, attack, they could definitely get some goals, press high up the pitch and all that fun stuff as teams like to be progressive these

The London Away Game Struggle

days. So Bournemouth have won just three of their last 22 away games against London side. So we don't like going to London, basically drawing three leads in 16 and conceding at least twice in 17 of those 22 matches. So alludes to the fact of our away form, which is why pre-Villa I was a bit concerned as well, especially with the other two games. But we don't need to be concerned. That's the past. Look forward to the future, right? And so we want to break that stat, right? We want to break that stat and go to London and beat a London team being away from home. Although would we, as Bour with fans take a draw you know uh hit us up on instagram or x twitter and else we are on social think tiktok as well um your thoughts on if you would take a draw um so so yeah you know so interesting stats and insights going into this game um this game um we're going to continue with the build looking at head to head record a little bit more deeper I've got some interesting kind of stats up about or past results that I will share here on the podcast with you guys so we will be right back but before we do so we will take a

Okay, guys, welcome back to this Forecast Friday episode as we're looking ahead to Brentford versus Bournemouth. So let's take a look back at some previous results. I alluded to beforehand, Bournemouth don't really have a good record against Brentford. So the last game was obviously the end of last season. Brentford came to Dinkle and 1-2-1. Before that, we had a 2-2 draw. Before that, it was a 2-0 win to Brentford. So obviously, we don't want that result go up oh you you know um on on the weekend. And so you've got to go all the way back, I think, to so League Championship playoffs. Bournemouth won in that game, 1-0. And then before that, Bournemouth also won, again, as I alluded to beforehand in the league championship, August 2014, 16th of August. Then after that, we have a bunch of League One games. So these teams have met, obviously, when we were both surviving, right, down in League One and League Two. there was on Go back to the 8th of November 2011 and we got stuffed 6-0 away at Brentford, so we definitely don't want that result again. But that was in the Johnson's Paint Trophy.

Listener Engagement and Memories

So yeah, the record isn't that great. That being said, you go back between the period of the 1st of January 6th of January 2007, and that was probably our best period against Brentford. So a 3-2 win, a 2-0 win, 2-2 draw, 0-0 draw, 1-0 win. That was probably the best. Actually, there's another kind of good spell between December 2011 and August 14, actually. So between that spell, we have a 1-1 draw, 1-0 win, two more draws, and another 1-0 win. It's in recent time, really, since Feb 2015, only won the one. And that's the game that I alluded to beforehand in terms of the playoffs so and then the reserve the reverse fixture they BS 3-1 so yeah we technically overall lost like the playoff ties but we won the singular game so um so um it's difficult it's difficult it seems to be difficult against against Brentford phil for some reason and just for the fun of it the first game between these sides when we were Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic was the 25th December 1923 and and that was a 4-2 win to Bramford so a lot of games in that time spell and in more recent times not a good not a good record for us but I would love to hear or we would love to hear here on the podcast so your favourite game the favourite game you you went went to, whether we won, lost or drew. Let us know. Again, hit us up on any of your of the social media platforms. Links are in the description in the show note description below. And I'm going to take another quick break. And then when we come back, we're going to wrap up. and I'm going to give my score prediction. I know Vic gave his he's a yesterday on crossover Thursday. I'm going to do that and then give some final thoughts and quickly looking to players that I played for both sides because I've kind of looked at that and did some research on that, jogged my memory this afternoon. So we'll come back and do that.

Players for Both Teams

00:12:24
AFC Bournemouth
and the Cherries. So Lewis Graben, Lewis Graben played two seasons for Brentford, 29 matches played and four seasons for us, the Charriers, 108 matches played. Now, some of these names I might mess up. Joe, Joe, Cole, four, played one season for Brentford, 39 matches played and two seasons for Bournemouth, 44 matches played. David Button, three seasons for the Bees, 136 matches played in just the one season for Bournemouth, four matches played, obviously a backup keeper. Then we have, sorry, I'm just kind of looking over these stats here. Alan Cornell, which was two seasons for Brentford, 44 matches and 104 matches for Bournemouth over five seasons. And Nathan Byrne, one season for Brentford, 11 matches played and one season for Bournemouth at nine matches played as well. Now, me see some of the players that stand out. Ryan Fedricks played for both teams. That one stands out to me. Emiliano Makedones quite recently. And obviously, Chris Mepham, who is still with us. So that's interesting. Let's have a look. Who else? just on that Chris Meppen point, who was still with us, I i should say, because he he did did he did hinder leave. I had a funny five moments there. Funny moment there. Anyway, moving on. So we have, I think that those are the main ones looking over this list. If I've missed any, so shout you know call me out on the socials. um Yeah, like that Chris Meppin one. But Chris Meppin is obviously one of the most recent ones. And Emiliano Macadones is probably one of the most recent ones. Yeah, both but both pretty recent. So, yeah, so so quite a few players played for both teams, which is interesting. so So, yeah, that's that,

Upcoming Game Predictions

00:14:40
AFC Bournemouth
guys. But looking forward the game ahead. In terms terms of win probability so this is looking at the some some kind of online score prediction so we've got Brentford at 38% Bournemouth at 35% I think that's a bit harsh on the on on us to be honest especially given our recent results and% draw. And just some other final thoughts that I've kind of, or things I've seen around looking ahead to you know to this game. Ariona said that this will be a very, very difficult in game away to Brentford, as I alluded to it beforehand, or away games typically are. And I believe his press conference will be today, I believe. Let me just check when his press conference is because I'm recording this on Thursday and hasn't been yet. So it hasn't been yet, although like don't I can't see you when it is. But yeah, it hasn't been yet. So when you listen to this press conference, it's probably been, I'll going you know go and listen to that on YouTube. I like to listen and watch press conferences on on YouTube, to be honest, but that's me. In terms of the score prediction or my score prediction, I'm going to go 2-1 win to Bournemouth and I'm going to go Semenya Brace and therefore he will also be man of the match he's had an excellent start to the season and I think that he will continue with his excellent form so that's your forecast Friday edition of your daily Bournemouth podcast thank you for tuning in and thank you for listening thank you for being here follow us on social media and yeah engage with us over on your favourite social platform where we are also active. It would be great to hear your views, thoughts, opinions and everything Bournemouth as well. So look forward to talking to you guys in the next episode, probably doing one next week. So I look forward to talking to you then. Hopefully it will be with another fellow Bournemouth podcaster and I won't be flying solo, but we will see.
