Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello everyone and welcome to our new episode of daily FC Bournemouth podcast and today crossover Thursday with the boys from Manchester. Hello guys, Keeling with me and Jules JJ. How are you boys?
00:00:27
Jools
Yeah, happy to be here. We're outnumbering you as well, which is a bit worrying for you, I think. But yeah, I love a crossover episode and it's always nice to go away as well.
00:00:36
Keelin McNamara
Yeah I'm undone in the South Coast today, it's nice to be here Victor, thank you for having us.

day. Global Sports Podcast Network. Right. Boys, we have a lot of things to talk about. The last few games I must admit, you were better. You were better in Manchester. You were better in Bournemouth. However, there's always time and space for surprises.

Bournemouth vs. Manchester City: A Hopeful Outlook

00:01:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, I'd love to see those smiles again on Saturday after the game, but I You know what? You can usually imagine things there and and try to manifest what's going to happen. And somehow I cannot manifest you guys smiling after Saturday.
00:02:10
Jools
Oh yeah, okay. Do elaborate as to why.
00:02:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just cannot, right? So we're flying at the moment. the So we we started with, right, with
00:02:20
Jools
Would you call 11th flying Keelan? I don't know about that.
00:02:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
So na before the Arsenal game, right we said we were going to be happy if we managed to get three points in the next three games.
00:02:26
Keelin McNamara
Flying in this comfort.
00:02:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we got four points in the first two games, which ah ah leaves us to beat City in Vitality, get that first sweet win. make a bit more interesting the top of the table and the and the title, you know, contending. So with the mentality and then with with the form that Bumut is playing at the moment, I feel we've got a chance. And if in the last five, 10 years was ever there a chance to beat Citi, I believe now is the moment.
00:03:15
Jools
Yeah, I'd agree with that. I think City have not been at their best throughout the Premier League. I think City are so good, though, that in a lot of the games, it hasn't really mattered. But absolutely, Bournemouth, on the back of two great results, beating Arsenal pretty comfortably. Obviously, the Saliba red card had a lot to do with it, but you locked and played really well. And that draw against Villa as well. Villa are absolutely flying, and you more than matched them and got got got your rewards with that 96th-minute Avonese goal.
00:03:44
Jools
But yeah, City are a debt different kettle of fish to Astavilla, I'll let you know that.
00:03:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Kylie, have you got anything to say? or Or you agree with me? You actually agree with me, dude?
00:03:55
Keelin McNamara
More than I thought I would, I'll put it that way. and Listen, it would be very funny if the Premier League came down to Bournemouth head-to-head against the top four. That would be very funny, I must admit.
00:04:06
Keelin McNamara
But listen, I think, Victor, you make a very good point. I do think this is probably the most vulnerable man city I've been in a long time. Obviously, our now Ballon d'Or winner, praise his name, Rodry, is unfortunately on the sidelines still.
00:04:20
Keelin McNamara
And realistically,
00:04:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Fortunately for us, but...
00:04:21
Keelin McNamara
believe Yeah, exactly. But with Bournemouth's rapid counter-attacking in City's vulnerability in midfield, this could well be your best chance in years to pick up all three points against City. So whilst I am always confident about City and their general ability, I do think there is the chance for an upset here. I certainly wouldn't discount what you've said at all.
00:04:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I see the way Jules is looking at you.
00:04:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, this is...
00:04:47
Keelin McNamara
Hmm.
00:04:48
Jools
i'm i'm just ready I'm just ready to speak, that's all.
00:04:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
like
00:04:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is not gonna go well after we finish I have a feeling like two of you are gonna stay and then have a chat have a word with each other
00:04:58
Jools
Well, I've got a lot of time for both the Iola and Bournemouth, to be honest.

Historical Dominance of Manchester City

00:05:04
Jools
over the years you've punched above your weight so well. But the Premier League record between City and Bournemouth is absolutely staggering. So and City have never lost to Bournemouth in their history, by the way. In 21 matches, City have won 19 and drawn twice.
00:05:22
Jools
and in the Premier League City have won all 14 meetings between the two sides scoring 45 goals and conceding seven in that time and last season City hammered Bournemouth 6-1.
00:05:37
Jools
This fixture last year was a lot closer with just one nil and a Phil Foden goal deciding it but
00:05:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
And he was a lucky goal because Bournemouth was better. you look boom I was at the game, I was at the ground. Bournemouth, we were unlucky. I don't know how we did in school. It's like you left Holland back in Manchester.
00:05:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
He wasn't even seen on the pitch. Zabani held him in his pocket. it was it was It was a great game, and that's why I expect there's always first time for everything, right? And, you know, it's Bournemouth City being better on paper, being worked.
00:06:05
Jools
Yeah, definitely.
00:06:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
no ten 50 times more than than the whole team of Bournemouth. Like Keeling said, I think this this is the time now that we can you know try and fill all three points, especially with the with the wind in our backs from the previous two games. And considering that, yes, your your best one of the best players is not going to be on the pitch, Rodri.
00:06:36
Jools
Yeah, and City have only kept two clean sheets, one of which was the last game, all old Premier League season so far, normally with the opposition scoring first.

Bournemouth's Aggressive Strategy

00:06:46
Jools
So there's every chance Bournemouth at the Vitality as well, which you normally always give a good account to yourself against the top sides there. There's every chance you can take the lead, and then it's a completely different game after that point, isn't it, Keelan?
00:06:57
Keelin McNamara
Yeah, and listen, look how good Evan Illson's been since he joined the Premier League. You know, that man is a danger and he is a threat. And let's be honest, City's defence has not been the best this season, especially to rapid counter-attacking number nines. Evan Illson is a very good striker and he could enjoy a lot of success on Saturday if City are not 100% switched on. So,
00:07:21
Keelin McNamara
Be on the noble agent, we are going to have to be very careful because boredom have carried a real sting in their tail and and that's something you've got to be aware of.
00:07:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
i would i I think Vanelsen still needs a bit of time to settle, right, but at the moment I think our most dangerous player is Semenya and um Villa, obviously Emmeri, Spanish coach as well, recognise that and the
00:07:40
Jools
Yeah, yeah.
00:07:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Semenya didn't do much against against Villa. I'm not gonna lie. Up until a game against Arsenal, Semenya was number one in the whole Premier League. So he was in in position number one with goal attempts, dribbles, so shots on goal, everything. And he definitely showed that he's a player that's not afraid to shoot from anywhere, try and go one-on-one,
00:08:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
try and cut inside and and sort of wait for that ball and finish. And one of the players that is now following his steps actually that I saw in the last game was John Duran from Villa.
00:08:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I don't know if you guys seen the game or the highlights, but once Duran came onto the pitch, he was like just trying to shoot from everywhere.
00:08:33
Jools
Yeah.
00:08:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
And this is what we need against you. We just need to try and one one one will go in. you know
00:08:39
Jools
It's not even just Semenyo. You've been quietly accumulating some really handy forwards over the last couple of years. You've got Clyvert, who looks like he's coming on leaps and bounds as well. Obviously Semenyo. Sinistero has come off the bench a lot this year. I think he's a really good player. And Marcus Tavernier, who's impressed me a lot. I thought he struggled when he first signed for you, but he looks dangerous too. so You've got options as well if Semenyo, who is probably your best one, doesn't turn up. So yeah, there's plenty of players in the Bournemouth team that can cause city problems, absolutely.

Fan Loyalty and Player Admiration

00:09:11
Keelin McNamara
Uno, what a player!
00:09:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I want him. You know what? Every time he he comes onto the pitch, like the whole stadium is like, I don't know, becoming so happy, right? Because all the fans that we want to see is C. Union scoring. And I remember when he signed last season alone with option to be both. When he scored his first goal for Beaumont, I was in tears. People next to me were in tears. We were like, I don't know. It just felt extra special.
00:09:44
Jools
what why do you Why do you guys love him so much?
00:09:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know because I don't know. he's got masks he's He's got face like a person that you just gotta love, you can't hate. you know the so Some of the people are very antipatic and you just cannot stand them, you you just cannot stand the way they they they walk, they you know roll the ball, do whatever. But some of the players you just fancy, whether they're good or having a bad day, you're just gonna sort of fancy them.
00:10:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:10:14
Jools
Yeah, classic hardworking striker that doesn't score, always endears himself to the fans, you know?
00:10:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
but but but but I was surprised he hasn't clicked and he's been injured again this is his first start this season actually after what we we are
00:10:22
Jools
He is good, he is good. It just hasn't clicked yet, I think.
00:10:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
nine games so this is going to be the 10th round yeah first start nine games hopefully he will be 100 fit and i can't see i can't wait to see him taking a free kick because that's what he's best at And he scored watching the highlights before when he signed for Bournemouth, obviously, watching some of the goals that he scored for his previous team. He scored 10 goals from free kicks. So he's a really good free kick taker. And we just, you know, we just got to give him that chance and hopefully, hopefully,
00:11:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
He'll put one at the back of the net against you, Blue Voice. Right, time for a quick break and we'll be back to to mention some interesting names that have played for both of the teams over the last decade, maybe two decades. Right, be back shortly.

Debating Manchester City's Top Players of the Era

00:12:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
right we are back boys got a question for you right since i started sweating right i don't know it because i'm i'm the only one here against the two of you but i can say it like yeah i'm sweating because i'm warmed up i'm ready for you guys right uh who would you say if if we're talking about some really interesting names and and the best players from Citi between the year. So let's say in the last 20 years. Right, top three.
00:13:18
Jools
Ooh, top three. I like healing go first, I think.
00:13:22
Keelin McNamara
Oh, top three. That is interesting and because you could probably name a top three from the midfield alone. So doing a top three for the every position for that amount of time is tough in itself. I am going to say, God, this is this so tough to say just three, but my personal three, my favorite three ever,
00:13:48
Keelin McNamara
Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne.
00:13:53
Jools
yeah I think it's so tough with how good City have been for ah ah well at least the last dozen years since the first Premier League title. yeah you could You could do three for every position like Keelan said, but um I know for a fact Kev is in that top three because he's my favourite player ah and and I think he's been the best midfielder in the world for a number of years now, at least attacking wise.
00:14:16
Jools
Rodry has got the got the award to back up that he is the best player in the world, but I digress. I don't think you can move past Aguero either, to be honest, scoring that goal and the amount of goals he scored. and He was the real figurehead and in attack during City's dominant years, let's say. He walked so Haaland could run. Haaland will end up with more goals than him, but Aguero's impact was probably heavier at the time.
00:14:43
Jools
Yeah, kind of want to say that I kind of want to say David Silva too.
00:14:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was a different kind of football.
00:14:45
Jools
But just to keep it a bit interesting, I'll go Vincent Kompany because he was there right from the start. He's ah an incredibly good leader. he left He left his body in absolute pieces, giving everything for the team towards the end of his career.
00:15:00
Jools
And what a player as well. He he could do everything that you want from a centre back. he He could pass. He was strong. He was quick. He read the game brilliantly. He was aggressive. Yeah, so Captain Vince, Kevin De Bruyne, and um um Sergio Aguero.
00:15:16
Keelin McNamara
And.
00:15:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, I'm not going to go for my top three, but I would just like to sort of reminisce about some of the players that I saw the first time, right, when I i was playing, probably, it was Provolution Soccer back then, right?
00:15:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
So so you you got to go with Shai Givin, right?
00:15:35
Jools
Yes.
00:15:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joe Hart, especially.
00:15:43
Jools
I wouldn't stop them both at the same time though.
00:15:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, no, no, no, no, but I'm going to, I'm trying to go sort of from the back. So position wise. and I'll never forget that. Actually, I can't remember who city played against, but when Joe Hart went into the box, right?
00:16:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
there was a corner kick. He went into the box. the other team defended.
00:16:02
Keelin McNamara
Mm
00:16:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
They had a counter attack and then you could see Johar running faster than anyone getting back and managing to save a shot.
00:16:05
Keelin McNamara
hmm.
00:16:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
I really can't remember who they play against.
00:16:15
Keelin McNamara
It was it was Man United because we in Rooney nearly did another f-ing half wayline goal.
00:16:16
Jools
Barcelona was it? Or was it Man United? Okay.
00:16:24
Keelin McNamara
And Joe Hart managed to stop it with his forearm.
00:16:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Was your mom in the shot?
00:16:27
Keelin McNamara
It was absolutely a beauty.
00:16:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. And and that's gonna yeah, that's that's one of the things that always going to stay in my mind.
00:16:30
Jools
That's it.
00:16:36
Jools
joe Joe Hart, most Golden Gloves in Premier League history as well.
00:16:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:16:39
Jools
Very underrated goalkeeper at his peak, I think.
00:16:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
very under Very underrated.
00:16:42
Keelin McNamara
Most head and shoulders efforts as well. That's what got him the sponsorship. sort
00:16:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Very underrated. Defenders, right. Left back, no doubts. I'll go with Kolorov.
00:16:54
Keelin McNamara
come on Come on.
00:16:56
Jools
What a highlight reel.
00:16:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
aye
00:16:57
Keelin McNamara
Oh, what a pleasure.
00:16:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah I mean, do you know what? i like I like always talking about other teams, because I don't want to be talking every single episode about the ballroom players, right? If there's a bigger team, right, with much more players, much more score depth over the years, and much more names to

Commercialization of Football: Passion vs. Business

00:17:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
mention. So color on the left, right, so my let's say my ideal 11. Color on the left, right, is going to be company. Now,
00:17:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
I would say Ruben Diaz, but he's still playing. so
00:17:31
Jools
Go on, you can put him in.
00:17:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
and you
00:17:32
Jools
You know who you want to put in. You know who you want to put in.
00:17:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
so and and Actually, no.
00:17:36
Jools
Nathan Arke, surely.
00:17:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Actually, he's good. I'm not going to lie. He used to play football when he was our player. And if I was to talk about some of the plays from the past, I would certainly mention Akib, right?
00:17:48
Jools
i think I think he's your best ever Premier League player personally. I think he won your player of the year every single season. He was at the club. but
00:17:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
He was good. He was good. And we miss him. I'm not going to lie. But this pair of centre backs, say again.
00:17:58
Keelin McNamara
No wretched dung. No wretched dung.
00:18:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was about to say Richard Dunn. Richard Dunn or Sylvain Distant, because it was a long time ago, right?
00:18:09
Keelin McNamara
oh
00:18:10
Jools
Sylvan Destad, yeah, definitely.
00:18:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
a Right. So now right back, it might sound funny, because he didn't play long, and but for his prime,
00:18:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he was one of the best right backs in the Premier League, and I'm going to go with Michael Richards.
00:18:31
Jools
I think you and Micah Richards are the only two people in the world that would put him over Carl Walker, but I'm here for it.
00:18:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
but and I'm trying not to talk about the current players, right?
00:18:39
Jools
Okay, okay, okay.
00:18:39
Keelin McNamara
Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet,
00:18:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
But but if you're if you if you remember any any of the other players from the past that could sort of be in front of him, feel free to jump in.
00:18:50
Jools
Yeah, Sabalata took his place in real life as well.
00:18:54
Keelin McNamara
Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet, Hublet
00:18:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
Zabaleta.
00:18:56
Jools
Yeah, what a play as Sabalata was.
00:18:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Pablo Zabaleta.
00:18:58
Keelin McNamara
you
00:18:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Did he go to Wesham after? I can't remember. I think he went to Wesham after City.
00:19:03
Keelin McNamara
yes he did
00:19:04
Jools
Yeah, was was it under Pellegrini?
00:19:08
Keelin McNamara
I think it was, yeah, I think you're right.
00:19:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Why City?
00:19:10
Jools
That makes sense, wouldn't it?
00:19:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think it was Mancini back then. Mancini. Mancini, Mancini.
00:19:16
Jools
West Ham, I mean.
00:19:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
to Wesham.
00:19:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay. Oh yeah. Right. Midfielders. It's got to be Ayatore.
00:19:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's got to be.
00:19:24
Jools
Yeah, true, true.
00:19:26
Jools
He he is so good. He was amazing. Absolutely amazing.
00:19:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's got to be.
00:19:30
Jools
and
00:19:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Garrett Barry.
00:19:34
Keelin McNamara
Nigel We got the worst of the story.
00:19:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right.
00:19:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nigel De Jong as well. Sean Wright Phillips.
00:19:42
Jools
Yeah, he was good once upon a time.
00:19:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Once upon a time, yeah, we are talking about the past. you cant i mean The pace that he had, just let him run. He was quicker than Usain Bolt on 50 meters, not 100, on 50 meters.
00:19:55
Jools
Shame he couldn't school like his brother or his father mind, because that would have took him to another level, but not many people could to be fair, at least not not his dad.
00:20:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Now, one of the players I'm trying to figure out, I think he did play for City. He was left midfielder, Martin Petrov, if you remember him.
00:20:15
Keelin McNamara
Yes.
00:20:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Interesting Bulgarian player, right. Good technique, a bit of pace as well. um And strikers-wise, yeah, I would agree definitely with Aguero. And if I was to add another striker on top,
00:20:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
You gotta go with Jacko, right?
00:20:40
Keelin McNamara
Oh, I love that Jacko.
00:20:40
Jools
Yeah.
00:20:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Jacko still plays, Jacko still scores almost every game. And look, he's what, 38?
00:20:48
Jools
He started the Champions League final that City were the treble in for Inter. So yeah, he's still doing the business and the type of player he is, you know, he's never relied on pace, you know, hypothetically, he could still do it for another, another few years at this point.
00:21:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Definitely, the way that players are built nowadays
00:21:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
I feel bad because the football itself has has lost the, I don't know what would be the right word, but it feels like nowadays they they play more for money and for the people, right?
00:21:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
To put the show on rather than to play football because they love it, they enjoy it. And it feels like they're more turned into machines rather than being passionate about what they do.
00:21:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's how I feel.
00:21:33
Keelin McNamara
Yeah.
00:21:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
and and I don't know. And sometimes I feel really nostalgic and I end up watching games on YouTube from 10, 20 years ago. And um you know it's a it's sad, but it's sad the way that this this world of football is going, especially with the amount of money they're getting paid. If if every single player ah that that earns over a hundred thousand or certain amount of money would get half of their wages cut down, they would still have great life.
00:22:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
But all that money could be going into schools, hospitals, whatever, and people would be happier.
00:22:12
Jools
I think, I don't think it's the players fault though, right? Because it's just pure supply and demand. Football's such a big global business that the players who bring in the money for the teams deserve that money. What I think the issue is, especially in a Premier League, is you need to be a billionaire to own a Premier League, or at least have a consortium that ah ah like totals up to as much.
00:22:31
Jools
And they're the people that are exploiting the the the average fan you know with with the outrageous ticket prices, merch costs, things like that. So I think the players earn their money, right? It's the executives that don't earn their money. And because football is such a big and and economically and linked business ah business that That's why maybe less less of these individual magicians are playing these days because the managers are winning is so important and but about about how much money you get at the end of it that managers are generally, to your point, maybe training out these Mavericks for a more solid, coherent team shape, which is that how modern footballs go in. But yeah, i'm i'll I'll defend the players till the end, I think.
00:23:19
Keelin McNamara
Yeah, it's a great point though. I mean, football has definitely lost its Barclays Men-ness. There's definitely an argument to be had for that without a doubt. I mean, you don't get a Titus Bramble or a Lee Kattermoll or a Maynard Figueroa anymore because, like you said, I mean, I don't i actually disagree with James on this.

Pep Guardiola's Tactical Influence

00:23:40
Keelin McNamara
and The wedding's always been the priority. That's not what's caused this problem. What's caused this problem is is that Pep Guardiola has worked everybody's ass so badly that nobody has a different opinion anymore. Everybody's just trying to work off of his ideas and copy them and trying to make them better.
00:23:57
Keelin McNamara
rather than doing their own thing. That's why we are where we are. It's nothing to do with an incentive of winning and being the best. That's always been the goal. It's just nobody has any imagination anymore. And we need a new generation of managers who do have a different way of thinking.
00:24:14
Keelin McNamara
And we've seen this in English football over the decades and over the years. You know, Brian Clough was an advocate of entertaining, entertaining, and attacking football.
00:24:25
Keelin McNamara
Bob Paisley's Liverpool teams always had an identity. Alex Ferguson's Man United, we don't talk about that, but they had their own style.
00:24:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
if
00:24:33
Keelin McNamara
And Pep Guardiola is to find a decade in the Premier League now as well. Who is going to step up and bring individuality back into football? Show me the next person and I'll show you Barkley's men returning. That's the problem.
00:24:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, you are right. You are right. It's definitely Pep's time in football and not just in Premier League, more and more coaches seem to be following his tactics, his his way of work. And we're now seeing every year more and more Spanish managers coming to, to you know, be coaching teams in Premier League.
00:25:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, there's so many things we could talk about, right?

Predicting the Bournemouth vs. City Match

00:25:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah we got to leave some time for the score prediction score prediction and we will have to finish the episode soon as well because I know guys this is what we spoke about in the beginning we we can talk until tomorrow probably it's once the the topics open up right let's go on a quick outbreak and we'll be back soon
00:26:02
Jools
That's our project.
00:26:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
right shall i start let me start yeah and then too if you can argue who is gonna come out uh on the pitch on saturday it's
00:26:54
Jools
Fine, I never have a clue. I mean, and like, it pops and changes all the time, so and we're we're all just speculating. and
00:27:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
go more scored that right. And you have two or three good players in each position. So even if you come with only one coach instead of two, right, Chelsea came here with three, but this is not the episode to talk about. But you shouldn't be afraid even if you have Roger injured or anyone injured. We might be in trouble right if we get one of our good players injured. The good thing is that Tyler Adams is finally back. We can't wait to see him and I believe he will make some minutes this Saturday.
00:27:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
i i'll Stay with Kepa in goal, right, Travis was brilliant against Villa. Kepa had problem with his right, with his left leg, left foot. He couldn't kick the ball properly, so he didn't want to risk, put him on the bench.
00:27:50
Jools
I'm surprised at that.
00:27:51
Jools
I thought thought Travers, because he's been so good in the two games he's come in for Capper, I thought he'd keep his place, because I didn't think Capper had been outstanding beforehand, but I think Travers has been. but Do you think Capper will come back and take his place?
00:28:01
Keelin McNamara
Yeah, you ever couldn't make it more public than possible.
00:28:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think Kepa will come back. I don't know why, just Travis, he's great when he steps in, right? of the games in the past, last season, he had few mistakes, right? But Netto had few, few mistakes as well, you know? and and When right, when Kepa, the and season goes back to Chelsea and we get Netto back,
00:28:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
Travers might be getting more chances than Etta, right? But this is something again to talk about in the future and depending on how many chances will Travers get until the rest of the season. He's in great form. I wouldn't mind seeing him in goal, but I still think Kepa is the one to start on Saturday. Back four, Kirk is on the left, Zabani,
00:28:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Sennessey Smith on the right. Interesting thing against Villa, Smith came on, 30th minute, replaced the Rauho, our new right back from Barcelona. Don't know what happened, wasn't an injury.
00:29:06
Jools
He had a yellow card and he just, I've just gone from the highlights, right? He had a yellow card and he made a couple of more tackles, didn't he?
00:29:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
He did.
00:29:13
Jools
That he looked like he could have got a yellow. So yeah, that's quite a, quite severe hook in 30 minutes gone to be honest. But I remember raising my eyebrows at it at the time as well.
00:29:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Definitely midfield. Cook and Christi got a start. Christi's been playing great as a CDM, second season already. He came to Bournemouth signed as a winger. He plays on the left, he plays on the right, he makes Fraser look. and So yeah, I mean Christi as a CDM is... I love him, love him. Three front attacking midfielders slash wingers, Semenio,
00:29:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Sinisterra, I believe, still will be injured. hopefully on the bench, if he feels at least 90, 95% fit to jump in in the last 10 minutes, give us that boost of energy, aggression. Tarav on the left, probably Clivet in the middle and up front. I think Ivanus will come back with Unyal probably to come on 70 minutes something like that maybe try with two strikers.
00:30:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know but yeah Yeah,
00:30:18
Jools
That's a pretty good team. That's a solid mid-table Premier League team, I think.
00:30:23
Keelin McNamara
I agree.
00:30:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
I gave my prediction before the start of the season we're gonna finish eighth so I
00:30:30
Jools
I'm not sure about that, but I think you might be there about. Top-off is is a is a realistic expectation, I think.
00:30:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
We shall see, we shall see. Plenty of games to be played. So really looking forward to get those three points this Saturday. And we'd like to also hear your thoughts and on the score, boys, for this weekend.
00:30:55
Jools
I'll let Keeling go through what the lineup should be and then come back to me for a score.
00:31:01
Keelin McNamara
Yeah, so I think it's gonna be...
00:31:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
We'll take a starting.

Speculating Manchester City's Lineup

00:31:05
Jools
Hopefully not.
00:31:08
Jools
yeah He's alright.
00:31:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:31:11
Jools
I'll do it then. yeah I think Guardiola will start on the left. It could be any any of the centre backs, to be honest. Nitin Atkey has just come back from injury and played the first game this season in midweek.
00:31:23
Jools
and And then, of course, you've got Ruben Diaz and Stones. I'm not really helping here, to be honest, but I think I can. Jesus has been the one who's played the most as well this year, so I honestly don't have a clue.
00:31:33
Jools
I think you might might be too soon for Rache, but take your pick out of the other three, to be honest. Right back, it's got to be Rico Luis playing way too good, not too. He's a phenomenal footballer.
00:31:43
Jools
He blows my mind every time I watch him play, to be honest. How he's so good, so young.
00:31:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
rising talent.
00:31:49
Jools
Yeah, he's amazing. i think I think he's already, like, phenomenal, to be honest. I think he could start for anyone today, and he he starts on Man City already, so, you know, it doesn't get much better than that.
00:31:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's red red red arrows red arrows, revolution soccer, red arrows. He's in full.
00:32:02
Jools
ahead Yeah, yeah.
00:32:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's it.
00:32:04
Jools
he He's got a player instruction or player trait on football manager, which is always gets into box. As a five-foot-five right back, we love to see that.
00:32:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, of course.
00:32:14
Jools
Midfield, probably Carver Church.
00:32:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh, what a play.
00:32:19
Jools
what you raing keel in what's a midfield going to be
00:32:23
Keelin McNamara
It's gonna be with Egypt.
00:32:23
Jools
do
00:32:24
Keelin McNamara
It'll be Kovacic, Gundogan, and probably Bernarda Silva would be my guess.
00:32:30
Jools
breaking up a little bit there, but probably Foden, I think, was what he was going to say there, Mathias Nunez, started the last two games on left on the left wing, so I think it'll probably be him.
00:32:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
You're breaking up, Keelan.
00:32:43
Jools
and I'm not fully convinced on him yet, but he's ah ah had a few assists and a goal in the last two games, so he deserves his players, to be honest. Of course, he'll have the big man-up friend, Dylan Harland, and on the right, probably Savino, who looks the most dangerous out of the available wingers at the moment, I think.
00:33:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
and for the end the school.
00:33:04
Jools
i I predicted City and city would beat Southampton 5-0 last week yes and I was very wrong about that so I'm going to be a bit more conservative this time out because I really like Bournemouth, I think it was It was very dangerous to sack Gary O'Neill after the job he did with you guys. I thought he deserved the chance, but similar to how but Brighton did a few years at back, sacking Chris Hooten and bringing in Graham Potter, it was the necessary move to evolve the football club in both the style of play and the quality. So I think Iraola has done a great job and he makes it difficult for everyone. So with all that said, I think I've got a feeling it's going to be one-all, but I'm going to back the boys and go to one city.
00:33:52
Jools
How about you, Keelan?
00:33:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
To one city. Killing you there.
00:33:55
Keelin McNamara
Yeah, i I think...
00:33:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he's gone.
00:33:56
Jools
I think we're having a bit.
00:33:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right.
00:33:58
Jools
Hello?
00:33:59
Jools
Yeah, I think.
00:33:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
You there, mate?
00:34:01
Keelin McNamara
Yeah.
00:34:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, we can hear you.
00:34:04
Keelin McNamara
Yeah, so I think it's going to be... I think it's going to be a close game. It always is a close game. I think it's probably going to be 3-1 City. and I think they just edge it
00:34:16
Keelin McNamara
I think Holland's probably going to get on the score sheet, maybe a couple of goals from midfield.
00:34:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's cutting off.
00:34:20
Jools
At least we got the prediction in there.

Final Predictions and Farewell

00:34:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right. kill it we We can't hear you. it It keeps cutting off, right? But we did get a 3-1 score. So we had 2-1, 3-1, right?
00:34:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, I'm going to go with 1-1. I'm going to go confidently with 1-1, with big open heart for boomer to win, right?
00:34:37
Jools
One, one.
00:34:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think we're gonna keep the clean sheet because Harland is just way too lethal as a striker and because he didn't score the last season in Vitality I believe he will be scoring now So I'll go with one one Hopefully Hopefully see all the players that we mentioned that they were going to play on Saturday. And I would love Kristi to score again for Bournemouth.
00:35:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
so
00:35:21
Jools
I just want to say him, that position switch last season to stick him in CDM, I thought was, I thought at the time was crazy because he never struck, never, but never, never struck me as a particularly good defensive player.
00:35:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
you me to Me too.
00:35:34
Jools
But yeah, he he's taken that position by storm really, isn't he? He's been excellent. He's so tidy on the ball and he always seems to be in the right place as well. So yeah, hats off to you guys for that one.
00:35:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
that goal against Arsenal meant him a lot you could see that you could see that right right boys so 1-1 Saturday unfortunately we're not gonna ah maybe maybe win maybe yes maybe no but I'll be happy with 1-1 overall I'll be happy with 1-1 and on that note
00:35:48
Jools
Yeah, because he doesn't get many, even when he was a forward, he never got many really, did he? So yeah, that goal was great because it looked so well worked. It's always so satisfying when something from the training ground comes off like that, isn't it?
00:36:12
Keelin McNamara
Out safe.
00:36:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think we're done for today. And thank you so much for joining. Sorry you had a bit of a problem with connection killing by the end, but we did get your score.
00:36:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
We did get the most of it. And I'm glad you agree with me, right? So you it wasn't really two against one. You were a bit on my side, then a bit on Juul's side.
00:36:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
So you're not that bad.
00:36:37
Jools
We're not that bad, come on.
00:36:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
But anyway, I had a great time.
00:36:40
Keelin McNamara
It could be a lot worse.
00:36:43
Jools
Yeah, we could be a lot worse.
00:36:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
say
00:36:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
we could yeah well that you can always be better you can always be worse so you know we should be grateful for what we have at the moment live in the moment enjoy the moment right i really enjoyed time with you guys obviously we could carry on until the morning but we gotta finish because nobody wants to listen to us more than probably half an hour right we
00:36:50
Jools
What?
00:37:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
I know we're not boring, but you know there's other podcasts to be listened to in other episodes. Thank you so much again for joining. ah Looking forward to the game this weekend. Looking forward to see your miserable faces after not getting that win. And I'll be having this crossover with you again next season. Until then, cheers, boys.
