Milos Kerkes' Performance and Highlights

00:02:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
I have to start with, thank you Milos Kerkes. What a game he had. Funny thing, right? We arrived, me and my mate who went to watch, arrived um around half two at the ground wanted to watch the warm-up. um And during the the crossing, right? They were doing the crosses. ah We went close to Keck, because I don't know if he heard me or not, right? But I did say him in Serbian language, right? Son, I want an assist from you, right? And now that that that was ridiculously funny, right? The next thing you see, he gets to, like, i I had tears in my eyes. I have them now as well. I just couldn't believe what happened.
00:03:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I want

Bournemouth's Play Analysis vs City

00:03:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
to hear your thoughts. Jack, you're our guest today. so
00:03:32
Jack
Well, to be honest with you, on any other day, it could have and probably should have been about five or six. I mean, let's face the facts here, a 2-1 scoreline to Bournemouth is very, very flattering on our end because we got outplayed in in every aspect of of the field. and and In every end of the park, we just got outplayed, did our own game, and we were slow, sluggish, but ah I want to kind of stare away from the fact that we were bad and and more because Bournemouth were as good as we were, Paul. I mean, you guys were were unbelievable, so well-drilled and and just really tidy in every every aspect of the park.
00:04:12
Jack
In our ill preview, I kind of highlighted that this game is going to be won or lost out wide. I feel like it's going to have little to do centrally. and And I feel like I was more correct in that because like you mentioned, Milos, Kirk, case I mean, what a player that was quite possibly the best performance I've seen from a fullback in the Premier League against my team. Anyway, 100%. I've not seen a fullback dominators like that and in a very long time and and not just ah going forward attacking wise, but in every aspect of play and tracking back defensively.
00:04:46
Jack
Phil Foden had a shocking game, but let's let's face it, he was he was completely locked up by Milos Kerkes.
00:04:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:04:52
Jack
And he was just as good going forward as he was tracking back defensively. I feel like there were a lot of key points from that game, key takeaways from City's point of view that we look to improve on, that we were really poor.
00:05:05
Jack
But at the end of the day, you guys were absolutely fantastically efficient. I feel like the the You were really good in every aspect of the game apart from in front of that. I feel like you wasted a lot of chances and and you weren't as clinical as you should be, which is why on another day, you probably could have been five or six now.
00:05:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
with it yep yep and it wouldn't be real would it don't
00:05:23
Jack
No.

Strategy and Wide-Area Play Discussion

00:05:24
Dom Thorn
No, I mean, I would agree with everything that Jack said, really. I think the ah a lot of the pundit a lot of the pundit views and the pundit comments were more focusing on the city having a poor game as opposed to us actually having a good game, which is exactly what happened when we failed Arsenal a couple of weeks ago as well.
00:05:40
Dom Thorn
um Every single year, every single time we've played City, we've done the same thing apart from last year, which was we sat back and we just invited the attack on over and over again. And this was the first time where we've gone out straight away and just taken the game to City. And I think that's what really helped us as well. And I completely agree with you, Jack, that the game was won and lost in the wide areas. Karl Walker, who I've rated for a really long time,
00:06:04
Dom Thorn
had probably one of the worst individual performances I've ever seen. He was dreadful. And that wasn't even just like him having a bad game. It was Kerkes and Semenyo who just run and ragged all game.
00:06:12
Jack
Thank you.
00:06:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
The menu was just outstanding.
00:06:16
Dom Thorn
The the people um where we sat, obviously we loved Semenyo to pieces, but I've never seen anything like it. It was like a man possessed that one moment in the first half where he just ran from our edge of the box to the edge of your box.
00:06:28
Dom Thorn
And I think Walker, Koficic and maybe Foden ended up on the floor. but it was just it was just a super super performance and yeah i'm just over the moon generally over the moon it's been a long time coming and i did say i i hope luke mentioned it i said i was like this year's the year we finally get a point off of you i wasn't expecting three but i was like this year's gonna be the year we finally get a point so but yeah i completely agree with everything mean you said jack
00:06:54
Jack
Yeah, I mean, I think in our preview, I think it was Jules who told me that we actually never lost the Premier League fixture to Bournemouth in our history.
00:07:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
Nope.
00:07:04
Jack
And I looked at him straight in the face and I said, that does not fill me with any confidence at all. I'm just as worried going into this game now because this is obviously a completely different Bournemouth team. In fact, we had a an episode a few weeks ago where we were talking about a future without Pep and and we were bringing out some of our potential shooters for the table.
00:07:24
Jack
And my outside shout was Iriola, because I think he's just fantastic. I've been watching Bournemouth quite closely for the past season and and a half now. And I just think he's he's he's such a good manager and really underrated.
00:07:35
Jack
and And it was not a surprise to me at all that that you played us off the part, because this isn't just a fluke. You did it to Arsenal a couple of week weekends ago, um and you got a draw against Villa as well.
00:07:47
Jack
Taking seven points off those three teams in the space of a couple of weeks, it's

Bournemouth's European Spot Potential

00:07:52
Jack
ridiculous. and and that's
00:07:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Top three.
00:07:54
Jack
and not only areola but the players and you can tell that they're really behind him i mean you mentioned semenio i can't even talk about him as a surprise player anymore for me because i've been watching semenio for a for a season or two now and he's just unbelievable every single time i watch him he's probably one of the best players i've ever seen carrying a ball and when one when he gets that ball at his feet and he picks up a bit of pace behind it wow he just i think it was it the game against luton last year that mental score um at your ground yeah yeah that game he was unbelievable it was just it was a ridiculous game to watch and and he was fantastic at that game but you mentioned there don about kyle walker that's not just a one-off game anymore he is like that week in week out for us it's really disappointing because it's kind of
00:08:25
Dom Thorn
Yeah.
00:08:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
four three
00:08:27
Dom Thorn
Yeah, feel free.
00:08:44
Jack
Putting a a little bit of a tarnish on the legacy that he's built up city over years of the years is one of the greatest write backs in the Premier League, but the last season and a half, he's just been way off it. and and In fairness to him, he hasn't played a game or trained for about 19 days now since an international game with England. so He was coming back right into the deep end, but but listen, that you could see that Bournemouth were quite clearly targeting that right hand side. Semenyo and Milos-Kirk has doubling up at times, tripling up, and and it worked. So you you had a game plan, you stuck to it.
00:09:17
Dom Thorn
Yeah, I agree. oh I will just like I'm going back to the targeting. You probably noticed like the both use well gold kicks. Every single gold kick was aimed. Semenya was on Walker every single time.
00:09:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:09:27
Jack
Yeah.
00:09:28
Dom Thorn
It was to flick onto Evan. If he just stayed on side of Anderson, there are three or four times where he would have been slipped in from that header. But um yeah, you're absolutely right.
00:09:35
Jack
Here.
00:09:36
Dom Thorn
And I do.
00:09:37
Jack
No box.
00:09:38
Dom Thorn
Sorry, you carry on.
00:09:38
Jack
and so So I was looking to say that absolutely that was working for you. It was Route 1 stuff and it was working for you. and And the one time that we tried it where Edison, out of any keep in the world, is probably best equipped to be able to do that to Harland, who's the striker in world football, who's probably best equipped to receive it. We only tried it like once and the once that we did try it, it worked. And I'm just thinking, okay, our usual style of football isn't working against Bournemouth. Why don't we go back to that Route 1 stuff? We tried it once, it worked. Bournemouth are clearly doing it. They're getting great success out of it. so I feel like a lot of that defeat was on pepper, was disappointed, but hands up at the end of the day, you guys were fantastic.
00:10:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, youing j do think that Walker's problem is maybe the age? He's now 34, usually players after 32 I think.
00:10:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
They become a bit slower, they become a bit just, you know,

Kyle Walker's Performance Issues

00:10:34
Jack
Yeah, well, I think that can definitely be attributed and and that was what myself and a lot of the city lads were worried about the start of this season, maybe last season as well. But if you watch the games, he's no slower.
00:10:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
nothing but rhyme anymore.
00:10:46
Jack
He's still just as quick. But his mind isn't just there. His defensive decision making is just... a bit I mean it's a bit stupid really he doesn't know when to go and when to stop and when he's defending one-on-one that's when he gets exposed a little bit when he's in a foot race with a player I still don't really have that many doubts I mean we've seen it a couple of weekends ago against wolves he did get beaten for pace by a dama triore but come on it's a dama triore but anyone else
00:11:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's because of the baby oil probably.
00:11:17
Jack
Yeah, exactly. Anyone else he's still got the better of. But I feel like, because he's had so many issues off the pitch at the moment in the last, like, season and a half, his head just must be all over the gap. But any other other player, I'd probably excuse that, but he's our captain and he's supposed to be leading by example. And it's a bit poor from from him. His performances just haven't been good enough this season.
00:11:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
He might just need to pick up the games and and I'm sure he'll be fine. and Right, time for a quick ad break and we'll be back. Lots of things to talk about.

Celebrating Historic Win Against City

00:13:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, we are back to talk more about a wonderful game that we had over the weekend. First ever win against City in Vitality.
00:13:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
The crowds, the stands, everything was so, so euphoric. And I think it was a good choice for me um that I decided to to be in the North stand um this game.
00:13:27
Dom Thorn
Oh, my stand, Vic.
00:13:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so I was in block 13.
00:13:32
Dom Thorn
Okay, I'm in block eight.
00:13:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was in block 13 this weekend. and I was looking at the forecast. The weather forecast, I was thinking, was it going to rain or not? And it was a bit drizzling in the morning. And I was like, you know what? I'll just take the risk.
00:13:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, I managed to get the front row seats. So I was really like manifesting second half. We're going to score the goal. The players are going to come to me like you know to celebrate.
00:13:53
Dom Thorn
ah
00:13:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
And that's it. That's it. I've got to get the most of it. And unfortunately, yeah, they went to your side, Dom, when we scored the second one. ah But again, what an experience, what a game. um Funny thing, I could see when when Tav hit the post, right? I was watching, obviously, the match highlights. And you could see me behind the goal when Tav hit the post. I jumped, put the hands on my head. I was like, come on, mate. But honestly, unbelievable game. As you guys mentioned earlier,
00:14:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah last three games. um Do you remember, Dom, when we were doing our predictions for the next three games before the Arsenal?
00:14:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
and I think I said I'd ah i'll be happy with four points from those three games, right?
00:14:41
Dom Thorn
I said I'd be happy with two.
00:14:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah you said Yeah. I remember you said you'd be happy with two. I said I'd be happy with four, and we got seven from the top three teams. The question is, how far can we go? And obviously now, next few games, they're a bit easier, right? We've got Brent for the Wade and Brighton at home, Brighton with only one point above us.
00:15:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
um it's This is now where we where we actually need to try and continue that run and the no not to waste any any any points. And again, I'll say from these two games, following games, I'll be happy with four points.
00:15:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But no, incredible games, incredible wins. we We're just flying. We're just flying. like Like all the players are on Red Bull. We're just flying.
00:15:29
Dom Thorn
I'd be interested actually um to hear ah Jack from watching the game on Saturday. And there's a lot of murmurs, a lot of um potential optimism from Bournemouth fans saying maybe this season European football might actually be a tangible target. Maybe not Europa League, but Conference League. I mean, I'll bite your hand off for Conference League to be honest with you. How would you from watching that game, how would you rank our chances potentially for the rest of the season?
00:15:57
Jack
To be honest with you, my my opinions of of how well you're gonna do this season aren't even any different based on the game at the weekend. I've always thought you were gonna do well. And because, I mean, put it this way, in that preview, people were asking me what my thoughts are of going to Bournemouth this weekend to the Vitality Stadium. I said, I absolutely hate the thought of going down to Bournemouth to the Vitality Stadium. I think it was Jules you mentioned, oh, after the back of a, a loss to Spurs, it's nice to maybe go to Bournemouth and have a little bit of a more easy game. I said, not a chance. It's probably the last place I'd want to go after a loss at Spurs is back down south to Bournemouth because
00:16:36
Jack
the Vitality Stadium.

Upcoming Fixtures and Gained Confidence

00:16:38
Jack
It's, am I right in saying it's dist still the smallest capacity stadium in the league?
00:16:41
Dom Thorn
Yeah.
00:16:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
It is.
00:16:42
Jack
Yeah, still even.
00:16:42
Dom Thorn
as Yeah, there's ya.
00:16:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
It is 11,307 seats at the moment, yeah.
00:16:45
Jack
It's so small, the pitch is so so like close to the stands and it's so cauldron. It's absolutely horrendous to go. ah You could hear it on the TV, they were making more noise than Anfield, which in fairness is a library.
00:16:58
Jack
Sorry, Tony.
00:16:58
Dom Thorn
Agree?
00:16:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yes, Dom! That's all we want, Dom!
00:17:01
Jack
yeah
00:17:01
Dom Thorn
Agree?
00:17:02
Jack
and But it's a cauldron, that few fans in the stadium, but that much noise, it's a horrible place to go.
00:17:02
Dom Thorn
Agree?
00:17:08
Jack
Even the last few seasons when we've won every single game, apparently. um I still can't remember watching a Bournemouth game and going, this is an easy one. maybe Maybe the sixth one last season, but that was a hard round. But going...
00:17:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, but remember at Vitality, it was barely one nil and we were better.
00:17:20
Jack
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's it's always it's always a difficult ah difficult to a game to play. i But based on what I've seen from you guys over the last season or two is probably what I think of you and how you're going to do this year.
00:17:35
Jack
And I think you're going to absolutely be fine. I think you're finishing the top half of the table. I think that's particularly controversial. If you look at where Nottingham Forest are in the league, I think they're like third or fourth at the moment.
00:17:43
Dom Thorn
Their third at the moment, yeah
00:17:45
Jack
And I genuinely think hand on heart you guys are much better than them. I think you're better drilled. I think maybe the difference in player quality might be a little bit different, but I still think
00:17:55
Dom Thorn
yeah.
00:17:56
Jack
if you go player for player, you're you're right up there. But I think the main difference, the key the key difference is is the manager. I'm such a big fan of about Iriola and and you can you can clearly see that this season more than any other season in the past, not only are there all the players behind it, but all the fans are as well.
00:18:03
Dom Thorn
Great.
00:18:13
Jack
So I feel like it's gonna be, if nothing else, a really fun season for Bournemouth because you've already taken three points off Arsenal, you've already taken three points off Manchester City, you've already taken a point off fa Villa,
00:18:25
Jack
They're some of the hardest games you can play in the season already all the way. So for you to go in, Vic, you mentioned your net run of fixtures now against Bournemouth and Brentford. If you were to go into those games off the back of maybe a couple of draws and a loss, they're looking like really tough fixtures. But now you're probably looking at those games going,
00:18:44
Jack
Well, we we took three points off Arsenal and City. Why can't we go and say three points off Brentford and stuff like that?
00:18:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
Why can't we? yeah
00:18:50
Jack
So I think that that confidence is huge going into it. and And it's just going to be a lot of momentum building up. So if you can keep that momentum, there's no reason why you can't get European football this season.

Iraola's Tactical Innovations

00:19:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah We did some actually predictions. Don, what was your prediction before the the the beginning of the season? What did you say?
00:19:09
Dom Thorn
I said 11th, I think 11th or 10th.
00:19:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
I love it. Do you remember what I said?
00:19:14
Dom Thorn
You said like 7th didn't you?
00:19:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
I said eight is the position that we currently sit in.
00:19:17
Dom Thorn
ah yeah
00:19:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
um I said eight because with the eighth position, we we might with some luck be able to get into the conference and play the qualifiers for the conference league. Now, maybe this is I said for for another year or two, um and I always like to go back with how things look like now.
00:19:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
if last season, after that really bad run in the beginning, if we didn't beat Burnley when we were two we were one nil down and then we turned ah the score around in the second half, if we didn't beat Burnley last season, would I stay?
00:19:44
Dom Thorn
Mm.
00:19:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is this is this the question I like to ask myself you know and and and other people, because I think that from that game, things definitely started working.
00:20:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
and um Some of the things that Iraola did, which at the beginning I thought there were they were ridiculous, they were stupid, try trying trying to use some players in the positions that they never played before, ah now we we seem to see um the best of those players right in in completely different positions. And um I'm going to name those players
00:20:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
soon but before that we need to go for another quick ad break and we'll be back i know intensity right
00:21:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wow, we are back.

Player Position Shifts Impact Discussion

00:21:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Another few minutes with you, dear listeners. Right, going back to some things that I thought that were ridiculous at the beginning of the season, um or the beginning of the last season, we all took over, right? The biggest change, I'll go with, I'll start with Ryan Christie. Ryan Christie, who signed as a winger, ah right midfielder, played in that position since like, until we all took over, right?
00:22:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
and then enroll a triathlon CDM. we we We don't have better CDM at the moment in the team. the way his working rate is on the pitch and the way he plays with the ball um carries the ball out as well the only player now okay this might sound funny because we we we are with the with the city with the colleague from city uh but the only player that i've seen that can carry the ball that that long is coverage as a midfielder box-to-box player
00:22:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
And there was a game that I watched. um I think it was last season when when it was ah in Vitality game when we lost 1-0 to City, when Kovacic literally took the ball from from the from from the box right from the box line. no one No one managed to take the ball off him. He was just going like left, right, left, right, zigzags, got all the way to the 16-yard box. And I think that that that attack ended with a corner.
00:23:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
But Christie, as a CDM now, I wouldn't want anyone else to be honest. um With Tyler Adams being back from the injury, he really looked good onto the pitch. I'm not going to lie. And um obviously, Iraola did swap him for Christie because Adams is more defensive. So once we we were in the lead, he wanted to try and then save as much as he can. That result, ah which obviously ended up in bringing on another center back, who he's in. and try to play with five in the back.
00:23:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
um
00:23:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
One of the disappointments from the subs, I think Domja will agree with me, it's probably the worst edition that we've seen so far was Enes Unao.
00:24:01
Dom Thorn
Yeah, he was, he looked a bit lost out there, didn't he? There were a few moments where he would track the ball really well and then he'd be swarmed by three or four players and he just didn't really know how to handle it.
00:24:12
Dom Thorn
I think on the flip side of that, he didn't help him because I thought Evan Ilston had one of his best games for us on Saturday as well.
00:24:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah Yeah
00:24:20
Dom Thorn
And I know Vic, you know this, and Jack, I sort of say, Nathan Akke is my favourite ball and player ever. I love the guy to pieces. I said when we signed him on loan in 2016 that he'll go on to win everything he has. And i I knew it was bad when even he looked a little bit shaky. I said to um i said to the people sitting around me who love him, I was like, Akke looks nervous here.
00:24:44
Dom Thorn
And you're know you're not used to seeing that. Well, I'm not used to seeing that anyway. And um yeah, I think obviously he came off, but yeah, I agree with you. um
00:24:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
But um imagine imagine how they feel, right? Those players that played football before, how how they feel coming back to the temple of football, right?
00:24:56
Dom Thorn
Yeah.

Nathan Aké's Potential Return

00:25:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
And like Jack mentioned earlier, where where everything feels, everything is so close and everything feels scary. And it's just, you know, we it's it's literally only a few yards away from between the the fans and the pitch.
00:25:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
And the the atmosphere obviously great and everything. and Maybe, you know, he he spent a couple of years in Beaumont and, you know, maybe I don't know, i wouldn't fail I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that I played for this club and coming back here and yes, the fans love me and he was a great player and he did get the applause when he when he was subbed as well. um But it's, I don't know, if I was Aki, I would come back to Beaumont. The only problem would be, the only problem would be
00:25:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Who do you put on the bench? Because Zabani and Sinesia are doing a great job in defense at the moment.
00:25:54
Dom Thorn
I suppose one thing you could look at is if we lose Kirkheads. Maybe I can sort on the left back.
00:25:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Don't say that.
00:26:00
Dom Thorn
ah I say if we probably will, right?
00:26:00
Jack
wow
00:26:02
Dom Thorn
But 70 million for him, please.
00:26:04
Jack
What put it this way, at the start of the season when we were talking about our dream transfers, myself and Jules both were eyeing up Kirk has to come in before the season that he's had already.
00:26:15
Jack
So I mean, I love a little cheeky bit on Kirk.
00:26:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
Maybe a small deal?
00:26:20
Dom Thorn
Yeah, if we.
00:26:20
Jack
yeah You're not an okay. Absolutely no chance.
00:26:23
Dom Thorn
oh
00:26:23
Jack
We absolutely love him. Since he signed for us, he's been absolutely magnificent. we've We've not heard anyone. We've not listened to anyone try and tell us that he was never a good buy from Bournemouth.
00:26:34
Jack
Even when, you know, it was 40 million from a relegation team, not a chance. He's been fantastic since he's come in. the The games that he's played this season, he's just coming back from injury.
00:26:44
Jack
So he's kind of been rushed back due to our little crisis of injuries that were going on here. So, So me to watch him have a poor game by his standards wasn't much of a surprise because half of that back line got rushed in. and But yeah, he did have a pretty poor game. But it was nice to see him get the standard ovation. and it And it hurts me to hear that Ines Unal is not as highly rated at Bournemouth because he used to play for City, so so but that's kind of devastating.
00:27:11
Jack
ah
00:27:11
Dom Thorn
Well, I do actually really rate Udo. I think he he's a good player, but he just, yeah, he had a bad game, yeah.
00:27:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's good if he just had a bad game.
00:27:16
Jack
I think he had a couple of good games towards the back end of last season where he maybe got, ah was it like two goals in a game or something like that?
00:27:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Two goals at the end, yeah.
00:27:23
Dom Thorn
Yeah.
00:27:23
Jack
Yeah.
00:27:24
Dom Thorn
Yeah. He missed the first part of the season because he was injured.
00:27:25
Jack
Yeah.
00:27:28
Dom Thorn
So I think he's like totally coming.
00:27:28
Jack
Yeah. But this Evan Olsen looks, looks great.

Transfer Market Strategy

00:27:31
Jack
I mean, it was always going to be a big ask, losing Dominic Solanke and trying to replace the impact that he's had. and But I feel like he's, he's going to keep on keeping on basically.
00:27:42
Jack
I feel like he's going to get into his stride now Evan Olsen and kind of play into his own.
00:27:42
Dom Thorn
And.
00:27:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
i I think we did a good deal because we, well, we paid for Solanke from Liverpool, 20 million. We sold him with 65, then we got to Vannuson for around 40 million. So that kind of balanced that out.
00:27:55
Jack
make many fun. yeah
00:27:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And um the thing is now, yeah, as as we mentioned, the the question is, a matter of time, when when Kirk is he's going to be going to a bigger club, Semenya as well, there are already some rumors about Semenya in 40 million, but I think he he's worth maybe a bit more than 40 million, maybe around 50, we could get it for him.
00:28:17
Jack
I think the career is...
00:28:17
Dom Thorn
Especially in this market.
00:28:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
um With the form that he's in. Anyway, we would make money because we paid him, what done was it, around 79 million, I think nine, seven.
00:28:24
Dom Thorn
Seven, I think about seven. yeah
00:28:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
something like that but under 10 million anyway so we would we would we would make good money on on that as well but Antoine please stay another couple of years right let us see at least some European football right and then you can leave give us the best of you as you already are doing
00:28:26
Dom Thorn
sister
00:28:35
Dom Thorn
Yeah. Yeah. And then I can come back.
00:28:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then Akki come back. Yeah, right. And then Smithy will probably retire, so we're going to need another ride back. ah But that's something to talk about in in in the future. Right. We haven't got much time left, so just quickly want to ask you guys your opinions um about who who who was your man of the match um and um and why.

Man of the Match Debate

00:29:10
Dom Thorn
ah Jack off you.
00:29:10
Jack
Oh, yeah, well, I feel, did it get awarded officially to Semenyel?
00:29:16
Dom Thorn
No cook got it.
00:29:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Semenio got it.
00:29:17
Dom Thorn
No cook got it.
00:29:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Cook got the the the Man of the Match award by the wood in the stadium.
00:29:19
Jack
Alright,
00:29:21
Dom Thorn
Fan one, yeah.
00:29:22
Jack
right was it, was it Cook or Smith who missed the open goal?
00:29:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
but
00:29:24
Dom Thorn
Yeah.
00:29:27
Dom Thorn
Smith.
00:29:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
man
00:29:28
Jack
Oh, Smith, yeah, I thought so, that that was poor. I know it was a tough shot, but you should be scoring that.
00:29:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
um yeah The Man of the Match award from the stadium in the stadium was Cook.
00:29:33
Jack
no
00:29:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
um But then, yeah, you're looking at at other websites and everything, overall it was Semenio.
00:29:42
Jack
Yeah, I feel like Semenio going forward was the most dangerous attacker on the pitch. I mean, he he looked to kind of bully our bat line. And like I said, at the start of the episode, he is genuinely one of the best players I've seen driving the ball forwards. But for me, man in the match has to be Kirk S to do what he did that game against the Premier League champions at 20 years old. Still can't believe he's 20, by the way.
00:30:05
Jack
um And even without the two assists, which he did get, he was fantastic. But, I mean, to just skip past the players and whip that, they were good deliveries as well. and I was disappointed with Phil Foden for the first goal. I thought that was lazy defending, but I mean, all the same, it's it's a lot of desire there from Kirk Hesse. And it's nearly a carbon copy for the second going down the other end. So Kirk Hesse for me has got to be the one of the match.
00:30:28
Dom Thorn
I would I would agree I'd have to agree especially to assist and then that block as well in the first half so
00:30:35
Jack
Alright.
00:30:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was, think I think, well, from what I've seen, the three tackles that he had, all all three were successful, two in the first half and and one in the second half, but that like sliding tackle, which ah we were, when he blocked Bernardo Silva, shot in the first half, we were there, we were in front, what a tackle, like what a tackle, I just couldn't believe.
00:30:51
Jack
Yeah.
00:30:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah But yeah, I, I straight away, I said, Kirkis, and then when the announcer in the stadium said Louis Kuka, I just looked at him, I said, what? He was good, but the hackers was the best right?
00:31:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
