Trip Delay Due to Car Accident
00:00:13
Speaker
Hey, everybody. It is Monday, March 25. And I am just jumping on for an impromptu episode.
00:00:21
Speaker
My schedule today got a little bit weird. I'm headed to Utah today, and I wanted to be on the road already, but a lot of you know I was in a car accident recently, and my car is going to be done today. I was really hoping it was going to be done at a decent time, so I can't even go get it until 4.30, so it's going to be a late night.
00:00:47
Speaker
I want my own cart, especially when I'm on the road for work. So I'm gonna get some extra work done today.
Retail Sales Bootcamp Announcement
00:00:55
Speaker
Record a little impromptu episode for you guys about a couple of things. Number one is that I have released my dates for the retail sales bootcamp classes. Basically what I am trying to do is do some
00:01:15
Speaker
introductory classes. It's a super low introductory rate for $57 because my goal is to actually create probably some master classes, probably some online courses. I wanted to do these introductory classes and go through all of my content in exchange for feedback and in exchange for a review.
00:01:41
Speaker
So it's a super win-win situation. And you guys, I'm so passionate about retail sales. I have created a reputation for myself with Eminence as far as like, I know some skincare stuff, mixing things together. Like I am really trying to, I don't know, create more of a reputation for myself when it comes to coaching.
00:02:09
Speaker
and retail sales, I really am so passionate about retail sales. A lot of you probably know that, but a lot of you probably don't.
Recovering from Illness
00:02:21
Speaker
And so I'm so excited to finally release courses and teach master classes, but these initial bootcamp classes are really fun and really exciting. So I will tell you guys the dates actually.
00:02:39
Speaker
They're all in April. I created four different dates just so that there would be different options for different people's schedules. You guys can hear I'm still recovering. I got sick last week. It was so weird. I went to the doctor on Wednesday morning.
00:02:56
Speaker
I'm just for regular med check and I was running a high fever and he's like, are you sick? And I was like, no, I feel fine. Like I feel great. And then by that night I got so congested and my throat was so scratchy. I did end up canceling some of my work last week and just working from home and um,
00:03:18
Speaker
I feel a lot better, but I know that by tomorrow, I'm going to wake up feeling really good. But anyways, it was just super weird. I felt like it was really random because I did get really sick at the end of January and I don't know. I just don't get sick very often. So I'm not exactly sure where this came from, but it was actually very annoying. Sorry if you can hear my psychotic kitten.
00:03:43
Speaker
in the background.
April Bootcamp Sessions Schedule
00:03:45
Speaker
Anyway, so here are the dates for those retail sales bootcamp classes, April 5th from 12 to 3pm.
00:03:52
Speaker
April 11th from 10 to 1 p.m., April 23rd, 5 to 8 p.m., and April 25th, 8 to 11 a.m. These are all mountain standard time because I am located in Idaho. The classes are obviously about two to two and a half hours, but then the end of the class is reserved for questions. And then like I said, this is basically just going to help me make sure that I have all of my content down pretty solid so that I can go ahead and finish putting together my master classes and my
00:04:23
Speaker
Online courses, so I'm really excited about it. This has really always been my plan And one of the reasons why I started my coaching in the first place was for coaching groups and retail sales classes And I have a lot of other things that I want to do as well But this is like literally my passion. So I'm really bringing you 20 years of experience in the industry I randomly
00:04:48
Speaker
got so good at retail sales when I was in school. It was really drilled into me a lot of the concepts about retail sales and so I had an actual clientele when I was still a student and in fact between my basic and my master's program for about three months I worked in the school spa as an employee actually and just sold crazy amounts of retail
00:05:12
Speaker
and did skincare services. Milo has to zoom these and he is kind of driving it crazy. So
00:05:23
Speaker
Anyways, and then I was in the resort industry for eight years and I was always booked back to back but I excelled in retail sales and so I just learned a lot of different techniques to do that really easily basically and get really good at retail sales without having a lot of time to have long drawn out conversations.
Retail Sales Expertise and Techniques
00:05:44
Speaker
And that's one huge thing that I can bring to the table is actually making retail sales extremely easy and really natural. Honestly, so much so to the point where usually after a treatment before I even have the opportunity to have that conversation with people.
00:05:59
Speaker
I had built it up enough to where they were actually asking me for the product and so I have a ton of experience and then I was in the treatment room still after that. Like even when I was working for Eminence, when I started as a trainer and I was working in four different states, I was actually still in the treatment room on the weekends in two different places. So one salon in Chandler, I got a treatment room going there.
00:06:27
Speaker
And then in Chandler, Arizona, and then in Scottsdale, Arizona, I worked at the spa as well. And it was a really cool day spa called Inspire Day Spa. I am pretty sure they're still in business and just killing it. So I do have tons of experience in the treatment room with sales, and I have a lot of experience working with estheticians very closely for the last 11 years. I have worked all over Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Washington, Montana,
00:06:57
Speaker
Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, and I think I've done one training in... I can't even think of my states right now. That's how much brain fog I have. Oh man, that was going to drive me crazy. Where was that?
00:07:19
Speaker
It doesn't matter. Okay, so I have some experience. I've worked with hundreds and hundreds of spots over the years. If I had to guess, my guess is going to be around 400 roughly.
00:07:36
Speaker
I have my own experience in the treatment room, but then I also have worked so closely with businesses, with business owners, with all estheticians, any type of esthetician could ever think of. And so that's where my experience is coming from. And it's something that I've just become so passionate about because I realize how important it is to our success to just gain comfort with it. And that's my goal is to be comfortable with it.
00:08:01
Speaker
so comfortable that you don't even really have to think about it too much and it just happens.
00:08:10
Speaker
It's such a huge part of our success because results with skincare are 80-20, right? And so if 80% of somebody's results are coming from the home care that you're using and 20% is coming from the treatments that you're doing in the treatment room, well, that means that we need to get really good at retail sales to make sure that we're actually helping our clients reach our goals, which is exactly what we are here to do. So retail sales are very, very closely tied to our why we do what we do in the first place.
00:08:39
Speaker
My course is very much about the mindset, kind of switching our mindset, a lot of really solid steps that you can take and implement into your treatments to make this really easy and make this really natural.
00:08:56
Speaker
And I really go through every scenario, teach you how to talk about product in the easiest way possible. A lot of psychology behind sales, how to talk to different buyers, how to really meet people where they are, how to develop and strengthen your relationships with your clients.
00:09:15
Speaker
I really go through it all because this is 20 years of experience that I've had with this, and I'm super excited.
How to Sign Up for Bootcamp
00:09:23
Speaker
You can find more information about that on my Instagram. I'm going to be posting more and more over the coming days, but I do have the entire information packet with all of the details, how to sign up, the cost, all of that, ready to DM anybody who reaches out.
00:09:42
Speaker
If you know that that's something that you want to do and some of those dates work for you, go ahead and just send me a DM. I'll send you that packet and then we will get you signed up for whatever date works best for you. I just released these classes and the information last night and I already have I think six people that have signed up. I do want to cap it because I like when I'm working, I like a more intimate setting.
00:10:10
Speaker
when it comes to virtual. I don't know why. I do presentations for hundreds of people and I really love that and I'm really good at it, but there's something about virtual training that feels better for everybody involved when it's a smaller group. That's why even in the mastermind
00:10:27
Speaker
We cap that at a certain amount of people. Like right now, we have nine. And to be honest with you, we'll probably do a couple less people on the next one just to make sure that everybody feels that comfort and that intimacy so that we can get the best results possible. So I actually feel the same about these classes. I'm going to cap them and keep them really small to about three, maybe five per class, because I want everybody to get their questions out, be heard,
00:10:55
Speaker
have open conversations. So if you want to sign up, like I said, just go over to my Instagram, it's at the underscore SD with an E underscore coach. And I'll send you some more information and we will get you signed up. I am going to double or more the price once once the courses are actually created and launched on a website, which is still
00:11:18
Speaker
In the works, I don't imagine that I would probably have a website until June. I have a lot going on in my life right now and I just want to get these classes out so that I can perfect that and then I'll create the website and have more on the website. Once that lands on the website, like I said in June, these rates are definitely going to double or more.
00:11:42
Speaker
If you want to get in on the preliminary and just so that you can leave me a review, have really open, intimate conversations about retail sales, you're definitely going to want to sign up for those classes. So I wanted to talk about that today because I'm so excited and so excited for everybody who just instantly signed up and was so excited about it. I'm so freaking grateful I could talk about retail sales.
00:12:07
Speaker
literally all day long, just like acne. Those are the two things that you have to stop me about because I'll just keep going and going.
Successful Week Setup Tips
00:12:16
Speaker
The other thing I wanted to talk about is setting yourself up for a successful week. On the last episode that Tiffany and I released, we were talking about the conversations we have been having in our mastermind group about time management.
00:12:30
Speaker
The thing about time management is that is where your confidence comes from and that is also where we are able to release a lot of overwhelm that we have because we learn to trust ourselves to actually get these things done. Even though I have been really sick and I do have a lot to do, I have a lot of tasks basically on my plate right now.
00:12:55
Speaker
I don't feel overwhelmed with that because I have all of this written into my schedule to get done and get completed. And even after being six since last Wednesday night and, um, you know, things got built up just a tiny bit. I did a pretty good job at staying on top of things, but I also had like a ton of brain fog. Um, I still feel really confident, excited about going into the week. So basically what I was thinking about this morning is how many people dread Mondays.
00:13:25
Speaker
For me, when Monday rolls around, I'm stoked. I'm like, why is it that I love a good, fresh Monday? It just feels like, I don't know. Everything's possible. Everything's possible. I'm so excited for what the week has in store and everything just feels fresh. Everything feels new.
00:13:50
Speaker
And it just feels like such a great opportunity. And I'm like, why do I feel like this? Because I know that so many people dread a Monday and it's actually one of my life's values not to dread a Monday, not to dread any day.
00:14:06
Speaker
I don't believe in that. I don't live my life that way because I did when I was younger and I promised myself I would never do that again and I will do everything possible to never have dread in my life for something that I've committed to you, like a job. Whenever I get to a point where I start to dread something, I'm like, okay, I need to reevaluate this because this is not how I want to live my life.
00:14:28
Speaker
And I'm always a fresh Monday girl, and I think the reason why is because I've gotten into such a habit of doing my future self a favor, which you guys know I'm a huge advocate of, and all that I really mean by that is like, I don't know, setting yourself up for success, like doing a good brain dump, getting your shiz scheduled for the week to make sure that you don't end up with all of this overwhelm,
00:14:58
Speaker
Do things ahead of time so they don't have to worry about it or think about it later. Literally, that includes cleaning your house and doing your laundry. I don't know. I just get into this mindset of I really want a fresh start every single day. I go to bed at night with a clean kitchen. My house is organized. My coffee is ready to go in the morning. All I have to do is push a button. I even have my
00:15:27
Speaker
all my pre-workout and everything is like ready to go in the morning, all my gym stuff is ready, I know what my schedule looks like for that day, and I just have all of this set up so that I just get to wake up in the morning to a brand new fresh day and I'm not having to carry yesterday's crap into today, which is huge for a Monday, right? When you're starting this whole week, you really want the opportunity to just start fresh and everybody deserves
00:15:57
Speaker
a fresh start, a clean slate, and to not be so bogged down by overwhelm, which I'm not shy at all about saying that I have very, very high spectrum attention deficit disorder. I have since I was extremely
Discipline and Structure Bring Freedom
00:16:14
Speaker
young, obviously, and I never got a handle on it until I was about 18.
00:16:19
Speaker
And it's really changed my life, like being medicated, yes, but also knowing how to manage it. I'm on the smallest dose of medication you could ever be. Even my doctor last week was like, I'm surprised at how amazing you feel with such a teeny tiny dose. And I was like, yeah, but that's because I also
00:16:38
Speaker
have taken the time to get to learn myself and figure out what works for me and how to keep myself organized, how to make sure that I feel good, stay on top of things, and just kind of manage it. And also, I think it's important to look at what benefit there actually is in being a tension deficit and the strengths that I have because of it. And I think a lot of that is my ability to
00:17:06
Speaker
have a lot of discipline and structure in my life, but that's why I feel so good. Discipline and structure in your life is actually very freeing. It doesn't hold you back. They're not chains. It's actually just freedom. And that's what I really noticed in that mastermind call that Tiffany and I were referring to. So last Monday's mastermind call, so exactly a week ago, when everybody was so much more bright and so much more confident,
00:17:35
Speaker
And it was simply just because they had implemented a little bit of time management so that they just didn't feel so overwhelmed. They didn't feel so bogged down by the mess that's going on in your head and how am I going to get it done? When am I going to do this? And then you just go to bed at night feeling like this weight.
00:17:55
Speaker
on you that you're never going to get out from, you know, underneath. So when it comes to setting your week up for success, I'm not even talking about like your month, I'm not even talking about your quarter, your year, like that is a whole other thing. But when we're just talking about waking up on a Monday morning with a fresh start going into the week, here are some of the things that I do that allow me to do that.
00:18:21
Speaker
One thing I was thinking about this morning is some people are going to feel differently as far as like, do I want to do this on a Sunday? Do I want to do this on a Saturday? And sometimes even I feel different. So next weekend, I definitely want at least one day off because I haven't had a day off since last Saturday. I've worked through the entire week. I worked all weekend. In fact, yesterday, I worked a ton. I had a really busy day.
00:18:50
Speaker
So basically let's say you want to take sunday off and you just want to relax and not worry about anything then saturday is going to be your day to focus on setting yourself up for success usually for me it is a sunday i actually kind of like to take a saturday off and sometimes i just wake up on a saturday and i'm like how am i feeling today do i
00:19:09
Speaker
I want to take today off. Would I rather take tomorrow off? What is that going to look like for me? So sometimes you're just going to make that decision. But at least on a Saturday or on a Sunday, I don't care what it is. Start thinking about your future self.
00:19:24
Speaker
am I going to need next week to have a very successful week? So some things that I like to do are cleaning. So I yesterday only spent an hour cleaning. I mean, a few weeks ago after my car accident, I did
00:19:43
Speaker
about three or four hours of deep cleaning but that is because I was cleaning out my pantry and my junk drawer and the top of my fridge and like all those little nooks and crannies in our house that you like open that cabinet door and you're like oh my gosh this is ridiculous. So you know I think that it's important to do that like a couple times per year but I'm just talking about
00:20:07
Speaker
washing your bedding and cleaning your bathrooms and sweeping the floor. I don't mop mop. I just have a couple different like Swiffer thingies. I don't even know what you call them, but I do my floor really good with those. Like I said, deep clean the bathrooms, get the laundry done. I usually do laundry all throughout the week, but
00:20:33
Speaker
this past weekend i actually had let it build up a lot and so i do all of my laundry and i get all of my supplements my vitamins all of that ready for the entire week um i food prep personally and that's just my lifestyle so i
00:20:52
Speaker
I think I've talked about before on social media, maybe I have about 75% of my meals pre-planned and pre-cooked for the next five, sometimes seven days, usually just about five days. And then I give about 25% for making fresh meals because everybody loves and needs that too and nobody likes soggy vegetables. So I like to do that on my Saturday or Sunday too.
00:21:16
Speaker
just sit down kind of plan out what I want my diet to look like for that week and you know go to the grocery store get what I need to get for that and then have all of that just ready to go nice and convenient keep me on track it's also like one less thing that I need to worry about as the week goes on other things are going to come up so that's kind of the last thing that I want to think about and worry about
00:21:41
Speaker
I get a good idea of what my workouts are going to need to look like for the week so that I can be thinking about that. And then I do a really good brain dump. So I basically take normal notebook, nothing fancy. And I just get everything out of my head that needs to be done. Now, I personally do this on a regular basis. And so I actually also have like a running list.
00:22:08
Speaker
of a brain dump and so I'll actually reorganize that list is what I end up doing. Another thing that I recommend is creating a separate list on your phone so that as you're going throughout your day and you don't have like a physical notebook or something with you because you don't need to carry that around all the time.
00:22:27
Speaker
but you do need to have somewhere for those thoughts in your head to get out of your head and so I always have, I start a fresh note every Sunday or Monday so that as things come up throughout the week I'm putting them down in that note section and then at night I transfer that over to my other running list that I have. Brain dumping is so
00:22:51
Speaker
I cannot emphasize enough how old school brain dumping is so helpful and so effective at managing your overwhelm because what I've really noticed not just for me but for everybody that I work with as well is that our heads are just a disaster.
00:23:12
Speaker
And then we grab social media on top of it, and the energy that we take in from social media that adds to that disaster that's already happening, and it's just not good. So the more that we can, yes, manage our social media, but number two, the more that we can just, as soon as these to-do thoughts come up, or even these ideas, get them out of your head, get them on paper.
00:23:37
Speaker
Get them in a note section on your phone. Put it on paper later. It just releases that so that we aren't just ending up with this foggy mass of overwhelm inside of our heads because it's out of our head. It's on paper. So then what you're going to do
00:23:55
Speaker
at the, you know, so let's say this is a Sunday, because I usually do this on a Sunday.
Effective Task Management with Brain Dumps
00:23:59
Speaker
So I reorganized my brain dump and my to do list. And then I go through my schedule for the week. Now, I use an old school planner. This actually just helps me a lot with accounting. So I've been doing this for 11 years just using a super old school yearly planner.
00:24:16
Speaker
A lot of people love Google Calendar like my old assistant and friend Lindsay. She actually wanted everything on her like Apple or Google Calendar and I use a little bit of both. I keep my calendar pretty strict for reminders for my sister who helps me out with business and
00:24:34
Speaker
And then I have just color coded different for my different businesses, my meetings. And that's all that I really keep on my calendar. I don't put other things in there. I've tried doing that and then I miss them and then I feel like a jerk.
00:24:50
Speaker
I basically then take my to-do list and then I look at my appointments for the week and I make my schedule. So let's say today for instance I had a meeting at 11. So I have that written down.
00:25:08
Speaker
And then on the other side of the paper, I have my actual to-do list. Now, it's really important that we put that to-do list into our schedule also. So you're going to take all of your meetings that you have, and you're going to take your to-do list. And you need to get that to-do list also on your schedule. So for some people, that looks different. I often
00:25:39
Speaker
end up with a few different lists. We really want to get away from that. We basically just want to take that brain dump that we made. We want to take however it is that we manage our daily schedule and we want to insert all of those to-dos into our schedule.
00:25:55
Speaker
for the day, for the entire week. So then what's going to happen is that we have to give ourselves grace. So we go into the week like, Hey, this is exactly what my days look like. And I already know that everything that is on my to do list is scheduled to get done. It's one of the most freeing feelings you'll ever feel. And it gives you so much confidence and creates so much harmony. Because then when you're with your family, when you're out on a hike, when you
00:26:23
Speaker
you know like wanna call it a day early you're fully present in that too and you're not thinking about all the other things that you know that you should be doing because it's already like.
00:26:34
Speaker
you're going to do it. You're going to follow through with it. It's on your schedule. And so then what happens is you go through your day. Now listen, I am managing a lot right now. And so very often at the end of the day, there's like one to two things that didn't quite get done. And that's why it's important to know what your priorities are.
00:26:56
Speaker
So I spend the bulk of my time on my priorities and then I'm like you know what if this needed to be moved to tomorrow because I need to like get to bed early or these errands came up or whatever because that is what happens is that our days can tend to get really
00:27:14
Speaker
hijacked and things just pop up all the time so that's why we need to know what our priorities are so it's okay if we need to say you know what this and this did not get finished today but that's okay because it actually didn't even need to be done today so let me look at the rest of my week and see when ideally I could schedule those tasks in to get done
00:27:34
Speaker
Then, bam, your confidence is back because you're like, that's cool. I didn't get it done, but that's all right. I got done what needed to be done and I can just move these to another day and that's no big deal. That's what I like to do for my entire week. I sit down on a Saturday or a Sunday. I do my brain dump and then I make my entire schedule. Then at the end of the day, I just say, did everything get done? Yes? No? Okay. What didn't get done?
00:27:58
Speaker
that's okay because they weren't a priority else. They would have been at the top of the list. I can schedule those in at this time or maybe my sister could help me with that or maybe Tiffany can take on that task for this week and we offload that in that way. So it really makes a huge difference to do that and then to also just do those little things. And honestly, if I timed myself, it probably only takes me two hours.
00:28:26
Speaker
to get those household tasks done so that everything feels fresh and to sit down and make a schedule. And so it doesn't take very long to set yourself up for success so that then we can wake up every morning and especially every Monday morning and just feel fresh and ready to go and really positive.
00:28:48
Speaker
About everything and really confident about the things that are happening in our lives and knowing that we are going to get them done and tackle them and it really is my belief that. Every day deserves to be its own brand new fresh day you get to choose.
00:29:05
Speaker
how you feel, what your day is going to be like. You get to choose every single day and moment to moment your outlook, your attitude, and making the best out of every single day. But I promise you that just by implementing a couple of really small
00:29:26
Speaker
things on a Saturday, on a Sunday, whatever that looks like, it's going to make you feel so much better so that you don't dread Mondays anymore. And so I just wanted to share that with you guys because it really was heavy on my mind this morning. I was like, gosh, I just love Monday, even though I was sick all weekend.
00:29:50
Speaker
I didn't get a day off this week, but I'm still just really excited about everything that I have going on. I'm so excited to go to Utah, see my spa partner, see my family. I might go meet my new kitten, Mila, if you guys don't know.
00:30:06
Speaker
Another little life update for you that Tiffany and I didn't talk about last time, two things. Actually, I am getting Milo a little sister and the reason why is so I'll just give you guys a backstory.
00:30:21
Speaker
my little soul kit and Tiki. She was a rescue. I got her when she was two and I got her a month before I started my work with Eminence. And at that time, I didn't know what any of that was going to entail. And so she really was used to me being gone. And it's interesting because she was a rescue. She had a really reserved, nervous, timid energy. She really was like,
00:30:51
Speaker
calling her a mommy's girl literally doesn't cut it. And those of you who listen to this, who actually know her, know what I'm talking about. Her cat sitter when she got sick was really the only other person that she ever had any sort of bond with. She was okay with my little sister and like every once in a while, you know, if like I had this girlfriend Stacia,
00:31:14
Speaker
and um she has such a gentle like energy and actually when she met Tiffany too like she'll come out and she'll be curious but she just was so nervous by nature and so latched on to me um and so i never worried about traveling like she was used to it but she also i she was so
00:31:34
Speaker
private that she just really didn't mind being left alone whenever I did have like somebody go in to check on her she would just hide from them and so eventually I was like you know what I think she's actually better off just like being left alone you know she has beautiful spaces that she lives in like she just does her own things very private I think she's fine
00:31:53
Speaker
And then she's happy when I'm around. Well, when she passed away, I was really nervous. I don't want to be alone in this house. And I live in this gorgeous three-bedroom home. And the ceilings are all vaulted. It's just this very gorgeous open space.
00:32:14
Speaker
It's the first time I've been alone because her and I had 11 years under our belt living together. And before that, I was living a very like gypsy lifestyle. It was like post divorce.
00:32:30
Speaker
then figuring out my career that was like a year and a half or two years between there that I Didn't really live alone I kind of like had a place that I stayed in another place that I stayed and I was just living this like I don't know really fun post divorce hippie vegan gypsy lifestyle thing It was one of my favorite times of my life, but other than that I've never lived alone and so
00:32:57
Speaker
That was really hard when she passed and I was like, you know what? I have way too much love to give. I've got such hard things going on in my life right now that being alone in this house doesn't feel good for me. So that's where Milo came into the picture.
Getting a Second Kitten for Milo
00:33:11
Speaker
I knew I wanted another breed that was Tiki's breed because I just love that breed. I love their personality. They're also hypoallergenic and I'm allergic to cats. And I do really want a dog too, which I'll talk about in just a second.
00:33:26
Speaker
So Milo came into the picture and he is the most playful little guy. It blows my mind how playful he is. Playful he is literally at like 10 p.m. on the dot when I'm like getting into bed. He wants to play hide and seek.
00:33:44
Speaker
And they kind of have to get their zoomies out because otherwise he's going to keep me up all night wanting to play. So he'll like run around the house hiding from me and he'll just sit and wait until I like come into the room and find him and then he'll hurry and run into another part of the house and hide from me. But he just plays and plays and plays. He is either like zero to 100 and there's not a whole lot in between for him.
00:34:07
Speaker
And I also, he has kind of some weird attachments like Tiki did. Like if I'm not home, he is just underneath of the bed hiding. He won't really like go around the house and like play and be himself unless I'm here. And so I sat down a couple of weeks ago to look up my work schedule, my upcoming travel. I got thinking about, you know, my summer and
00:34:34
Speaker
I love to take off and just go camping randomly, you know, and not really think about it. I love road trips. I travel for work. And I was like, this is not going to work with him. I do have a sitter who will come in and check on him. But with him, I don't think it's going to be enough. But I was very against getting another cat. I literally, I was telling my friend Christy yesterday, I was like, I was so against it because of the stigma.
00:34:58
Speaker
I'm already a single cat lady now I'm going to be a single cat lady of two cats like I just didn't want to do it and however his breeder had another litter right after he let's see so he was born December 18th and I think this litter was exactly like two weeks
00:35:19
Speaker
He was born December 13th. She was born February 18th. So it was right before I even brought him home. All of a sudden this other litter was born. And so that same week that I was having those thoughts, I got onto Instagram and all of a sudden the kittens had started opening their eyes. And there was this one girl kitten that I was like, shiz.
00:35:45
Speaker
the kitten distribution system has won me over again. So Milo's getting a sister because I fell in love with this little girl and everything in my body was just like, yes, this is a yes. And so she's going to be coming home probably not until May sometime, but it also is going to just allow me to travel without being worried about it. Um,
00:36:14
Speaker
which will be really nice. He definitely, so today will be the first day that I'm leaving him home alone and that is going to tear me up inside. It's going to be so hard, but his sitter will be in twice a day to check in on him, see how he's doing, make sure he has everything that he needs, but it will just be a huge relief for him to, number one, have somebody to play with, especially while I'm trying to work because I can't get hardly anything done without him
00:36:43
Speaker
needing to be a part of it. And number two, it will just allow me to feel like I can leave and he's not going to be home alone because he's going to have a sibling. He's going to have somebody to play with and take care of and keep him company, which is really important. They do really recommend that you do have two kittens and that you bring them home
00:37:02
Speaker
preferably at the same time. I think he'll do really well. And I actually think it's his half sister. I actually think that they do have the same dad and they look like siblings. So anyways, on my trip this week, I'm excited because I'll probably go down and meet her and spend some time with my family, spend some time with my spa partners. And I'm
00:37:24
Speaker
I'm just excited and I am going to leave later today so that I can get my car. I would rather travel in my own car than in this rental car. So that's one thing. And then another thing that Tiffany and I did want to talk about and forgot to bring up
00:37:43
Speaker
on our other episode is, um, prep.
Training for Competitions
00:37:48
Speaker
I am getting ready to compete. And I, I don't even know how many weeks away it is. I want to say nine. I keep like thinking I need to sit down and actually count and figure this out in my head. Um, I'll probably do two competitions just because I am not, you know, with having kittens at home and that adjustment and what that's like, I,
00:38:11
Speaker
I'm going to be staying at home. I'm not going to be traveling too much until like July probably and then until late summer. I think I'm about nine weeks away from my competition. It's been a really interesting experience because this is probably going to be like my 10th show I want to say.
00:38:29
Speaker
been really easy. So I think it's just because I don't know if it's like in comparison to everything else that's happening in life right now. I'm just like, you know, I go to the gym in the morning and then sometimes I go back at night and then this is what I eat all day. And I've kind of just offloaded any stress and worry onto my coach who actually also happens to be a really good friend of mine. And
00:38:54
Speaker
I just sort of let her worry about it. I'm like, you just tell me what to do and I'm just going to do it. And I'm not, I'm not in my head about it. I honestly, you guys, like I barely think about it. I just like do what I'm supposed to do, which has been really nice because, you know, in the past I've definitely had some struggles. Nobody likes to diet. Like dieting is actually what a lot of people don't realize is dieting is the,
00:39:21
Speaker
most intense hardest part. Workouts are great. Workouts are really enjoyable. I love going to the gym even on the days that I'm like, I'm tired. I don't really want to do this. As soon as I get there, I'm like, this is just cake. This is just what I do and I enjoy it.
00:39:37
Speaker
But it really is the diet that's very hard. You really cannot veer from your diet. It does mess everything up. It's very calculated and it's very strategic. But honestly, this time around, I just haven't really thought that much about it. I'm like, just tell me what to do. I don't really care. I don't really care what I'm eating and what I'm not eating. It's actually for me right now, it's just one last thing that I have to worry about.
00:40:05
Speaker
And so it's actually been really fun and I feel so good. I'm not very hungry. My energy has been really great. I'm not stressed about am I going to be ready on time? Am I going to be lean enough? What suit am I going to wear? All those things that I normally would, I'm just like, I don't know. She's worrying about it. And it's nice because I'm actually five or six weeks ahead
00:40:30
Speaker
ahead of where I normally would be at this point. I almost don't even really notice it until I like put a pair of pants on and I'm like, Oh, dang, I have lost like 15 pounds, but I didn't even feel like I was trying very hard because I'm just not thinking about it.
00:40:46
Speaker
So that's where I'm at and I'm like way, way, way excited for that. I'm a very goal-oriented person and I also think like part of attention deficit disorder is just kind of an addicted
00:41:03
Speaker
structured a lifestyle and so that's why I love competing and it is interesting to be doing it during such a difficult time in life and even my coach has told me so many times she's like you really don't have to do this like it's totally fine if this isn't something you want to be focused on right now and I'm like it's weird because I don't feel focused on it I'm just executing and you know staying in the structure and like doing the things and not
00:41:32
Speaker
thinking a whole lot of it and so it actually feels really good to me because having structure in our lives just like I was you know talking about before like having that structure is actually very freeing like it feels really good like discipline is not a punishment discipline is literally
00:41:52
Speaker
freedom to me, it feels so good. I don't think there's anything better than getting in bed at night and feeling like I did everything that I possibly could. I go to bed with satisfaction, wake up in the morning feeling good about the day before and feeling determined to just execute on another really successful day. So that's where that is at in my life right now.
00:42:18
Speaker
So there's a lot of hard things going on. There's also a lot of really good things going on.
Gratitude in Life's Challenges
00:42:24
Speaker
And I do just want to touch on gratitude before I end this. It's gone on a lot longer than I thought that it would, but I
00:42:34
Speaker
cannot stress enough how important it is to continue to find gratitude no matter what. There's no way that I would be able to move forward in life right now with everything that I am experiencing if I wasn't just so grateful for all the little things, all the big things. You know, this morning when I woke up, I could hear the birds chirping outside and I was like,
00:42:59
Speaker
That is the best sound I've ever heard like I just love that that means that spring is on the way you know and I wasn't thinking about my crazy day that I have today I was just like man I freaking love birds and I love the sun is out it is a clear blue sky.
00:43:16
Speaker
I can't wait to go do my workouts. I don't have a meeting until 11. So I got to sleep in a little bit later than I normally would because I didn't get to bed until late last night. And I just go through these things in my head continually. And I'm like, wow.
00:43:31
Speaker
I am so grateful. I am so grateful for Milo. I'm so grateful for this beautiful house. I'm so grateful for the signups and the excitement about my class so soon. I'm so grateful to go to Starbucks this morning. I'm so grateful. It goes on and on like this for me, and I think that is just why I'm able to pick up every single day despite
00:43:52
Speaker
the insanity that my life is right now and just move forward in the best way possible. And when I really sit down to think about it, I do feel like I'm living in a weird dream. It's hard.
00:44:08
Speaker
Like i said last time it's hard for me to comprehend everything that is going on in my life but i also don't think that i need to i don't think that i need to sit down and actually be able to comprehend it cuz i don't think as humans. We are meant to i don't think we're able to especially when there's like so much loss and so much hardship all at one time.
00:44:28
Speaker
I think that is just important for us to grieve when we need to grieve and sit in those feelings and accept them when we are feeling bad because that's how we release them. But then we find as much gratitude as we possibly can and we remember our why and we remember our purpose and we are in prayer, we're in meditation, we find those quiet times.
00:44:51
Speaker
and we just pick up ourselves and we just move forward every single day. And that is what life is all about. In fact, this morning I was reading a post from a girl. If you guys don't follow Em Dunk, you should. I have been following her for so many years. She kind of started in the fitness world. She is fitness, but now she's like spirituality and I just love her. And she had this post where she was like, everybody under 35, ask a question, everybody over 35 go through and
00:45:27
Speaker
I just froze for a second. And it was really interesting as I went through and I was reading people's questions. My answer, you guys, for almost every single one was find gratitude, find gratitude, find gratitude. And find a home within yourself. Find peace and home and grounding within yourself.
00:45:53
Speaker
And when you do that, you're free. When you can find gratitude, when you can find just your own foundation within yourself, you're free. You are free. And there's nothing that can come and mess you up. You'll have hard days. You'll have hard times. But when you're home in yourself and you just trust and you surrender and you just find insane gratitude everywhere that you possibly can,
00:46:19
Speaker
your quality of life just exponentially grows and no matter what happens, you're able to just pick up and move on with life in the best way possible. So anyways, that was a solo episode that went far longer than I anticipated and I guess it's a little life update too.

00:46:37
Speaker

00:47:21
Speaker
thousands and thousands of other beauty professionals. So that again, my Instagram is at the underscore SD underscore coach. And I don't have a website yet. I'm going to have a website soon. It is not my priority right now. And I can identify that and I am okay with that. So other than that, I'm going to sign off. So my sign off is
00:47:43
Speaker
have pretty dreams so just as a reminder what that is all about is my grandma that passed away last year and this is what she said when she was tucking us in at night she said this to her own children every single night even up until like her last days if her kids would call her she would literally end the conversation that way
00:48:05
Speaker
have pretty dreams and I had forgotten about that until her funeral.
Significance of 'Have Pretty Dreams'
00:48:09
Speaker
And when her daughter, when my aunt brought that up at her funeral, I just had whole body chills and I was like, yes. So I actually have that tattooed on my wrist right here. And I have it in French because my brother who is getting ready to pass from brain cancer, he speaks French. So it's like two of my most meaningful people.
00:48:32
Speaker
tattooed right there in one of my favorite sayings in a language that he speaks which has a whole meaning in and of itself and I look at that saying and I hear that and I say that and I just think life really is a dream. That is my philosophy. That is my understanding is that we are here in kind of a dreamlike state
00:48:52
Speaker
And that means that we get to create our own reality and that we get to, you know, bring our dreams into this beautiful life that we're living and really, I don't know. And then also, you know, we're in the beauty industry. And so we do have, like, we love to make things pretty. And that can mean so many different things. And so when I heard that, I was just like, that is my new thing. And so that is why our sign off is have pretty dreams. I really like people just take that.
00:49:21
Speaker
and then find your own meaning within that and take it and run with it. And so I love it. I love our sign off. I love my little tattoo. It means so much to me. So that's my sign off. I really do hope that you guys have the most amazing week. I would love for you to sign up. I would love for you to start playing around with your own different ways to set yourself up for a successful week and then share with me, share with me and Tiffany of the things that are working for you.
