May 26, 2025 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year

Daily Bible Reading with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching (Audio only)

Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between  Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot (pronounced shav-oo-oat) and Pentecost.  As part of understanding and observing the festivals that God has appointed for us to observe, we count the Omer (pronounced oh-mare)  today and then have our daily Bible reading session!

Here is the link for a downloadable devotional if you would like to  count the Omer for yourself. It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish  Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/

**Please note: there will be a supplementary posting today which will cover additional prophecy fulfillment by Jesus in relation to having ears to hear and eyes to see. I encourage you to listen/watch!

Today's reading will include 2 Kings Chapter 15:17-35, Isaiah Chapter 6, 2 Chronicles Chapter 27:1-6, and the Book of Micah, Chapter 1:1-9 and Chapter 16. Today we will read about Israel attempting to delay their captivity in Assyria by paying the Assyrian King 37 tons of silver. We will read about Isaiah speaking to God and being ready when God called for someone to send a message to Israel and Judah that He will harden the hearts of people, close their eyes, and dull their ears so that they will hear His words, but not understand. They will see what God does, but they will not know what it means. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about being ready and available when God calls us, asking to do His work. We will read from Matthew Chapter 13 and Luke Chapter 8 to see New Covenant fulfillment of Isaiah's words from God, as Jesus taught the people in crowds that gathered to hear Him teach in parables, rather than speaking plainly. We will ask the question, where is the seed that God has planted within US? Has the enemy come and stolen God's Word from us? Is our faith being choked out by troubles we face in the world? Are we hiding God's light under a bowl? Or are we showing our light up on a hill, spreading the word about reading God's Word? Are we hearing God's Word and understanding it, holding fast to God's teaching and bearing mature fruit by living in Jesus, the True Vine?

Introduction and Purpose

00:00:03
Speaker
there everybody Today is Monday. It's Memorial Day. It's mark a May 26, 2025, and you are here with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching.
00:00:13
Speaker
I hope you are having a fantastic Memorial Day weekend, and I hope that you're doing something fun with your family or have the day off, whatever it is. I hope you're having a great day today, or at least if you're working but you've got holiday pay.
00:00:28
Speaker
Thank you for joining me today as we are here for our daily counting of the Omer as well as our daily Bible reading as we go through the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:39
Speaker
If you are just finding this event, then don't be discouraged by the fact that this says it's a kid's Bible because this is just written at an elementary age level ah for vocabulary, so it's easy to understand.
00:00:53
Speaker
It's also written in storybook format and it's written in chronological order. So this is giving us the whole story from Genesis to Revelation and we are having a great time doing it.
00:01:05
Speaker
We are finding that there is daily application in God's word for us every single day. And so if you are just joining this event, you can hope to find daily application in your life every single day.

Counting the Omer and Personal Reflections

00:01:19
Speaker
We are going to begin with our daily counting of the Omer. And if you are unfamiliar with that, it is the counting of the days between Passover and Shavuot, which was fulfilled in the New Testament with Pentecost and the giving of the Holy Spirit to the first disciples.
00:01:37
Speaker
So what we're learning is that the things that God gave the people to do in the old covenant have been fulfilled in the new covenant. Even things like the blowing of the Shafar later on this year for in our fall festival, where it's just a day to blow the Shafar, it is ah supposed to be the forebear of the day of resurrection when the great Shafar is blown in heaven and the believers are summoned in the great rapture.
00:02:07
Speaker
So we are learning daily application by counting the Omer each day until we reach our 50. And this is part of the festival of first fruits for the spring.
00:02:18
Speaker
And Shavuot is the final ah festival, the final harvest. And ah that is where we will commemorate it with a special offering to God as we see ah based upon our individual blessings that we have received from him.
00:02:33
Speaker
This is a time when God is multiplying the harvest and these are appointed times by God. And so when these are appointed times by God, these are appointment times that God has set for him to for himself to meet with you. And if he is appointing times to meet with you, you can be sure that he has magnificent things planned.
00:02:57
Speaker
So I have been so excited. i have been receiving my blessings multiplied during this time and many blessings, many prayers have answered, prayer requests have been answered.

A Flea Medicine Blessing

00:03:09
Speaker
You met Julie yesterday. i wanted to share a little bit yesterday about what happened yesterday. i received recently, ah the day before yesterday, an order for some flea medicine for my dog, Scooby, whom you know, and it was not what I ordered.
00:03:26
Speaker
It was, instead of being one box of a small animal application, it was two boxes of six applications for medium-sized dogs.
00:03:37
Speaker
And when I called to let them know at Petco that they had sent me the wrong order, they told me I did not need to return it. I could donate it. So ah I knew that Julie has two dogs.
00:03:52
Speaker
And so I asked God, I said, well, Lord, I know we just spoke about if we receive something in our order that is not something we received, that we can return it, that there is an option in Amazon to do that.
00:04:03
Speaker
And this woman on the phone said it was not necessary. They didn't need it to be returned. I could donate it. But I still was like, ah, I just spoke about this. I don't want to be stealing and keeping things.
00:04:14
Speaker
um I could go out of my way to return it, even though it's not necessary. So they used to have in the, ah the priests would carry something called the umim and the thuman. And they were like little rocks that they kept in the pocket of their outfits.
00:04:31
Speaker
And one would be yes and one would be no. And since I don't have one of those, i use the flipping of a coin like they would have done, like casting lots or throwing dice in the old covenant time.
00:04:44
Speaker
So I asked God, I said, Lord, I don't want to be stealing. If it's okay for me to give these to Julie, then when I flip the coin, may it land on heads. Just like the like when um somebody was asking about the fleece. I think that was Gilead.
00:05:00
Speaker
was asking with the fleece that if he was meant to do something, let the fleece be wet and let the ground be dry. And then he said, Lord, please don't get angry with me. Let me ask you one more time. This time, let the fleece be dry and the ground be wet.
00:05:13
Speaker
And both times God answered his his request to show the affirmative, to show, yes, he was supposed to do these things. So I flipped the coin and ah I got two heads.
00:05:25
Speaker
So I was given permission by God to give it to Julie. Then when I told Julie, I have a gift for you from God, she just started laughing and said she was going to put this in her ah legacy of life, but a treasury of life box.
00:05:40
Speaker
And she was going to write that down because she had prayed for God to please send flea medicine. because the season has started and the dogs had fleas and it was pretty bad.
00:05:52
Speaker
So just like with my necklace, we can bring anything of any size to God. And Julie asked God about that. And God fulfilled that answer with two boxes in the size that would be beneficial for her dogs.
00:06:07
Speaker
And that to me is still um a multiplied harvest. Because he didn't just send one box. He sent two. He sent enough. In the same way like what we heard Julie telling about when God sent the extra food to feed the people that he was going to send.
00:06:23
Speaker
He knew.
00:06:26
Speaker
So I am just seeing so many wonderful things that God is doing. And I want to be sure that we give glory to God and share these things so that you too can be encouraged to bring everything to God and to do so with expectation.
00:06:39
Speaker
Because Jesus tells us that when we pray, to pray as though it has already been answered. So Julie prayed and God had already answered it. And he did so in the form of me receiving an order that I didn't receive properly.

Bible Reading and Prophecies

00:06:54
Speaker
And then I gifted it. Well, and I didn't gift it. I just passed it along. I was able to donate it ah to Julie with God's blessing. So thank you for in sharing the joy and these wonderful things that God is doing.
00:07:10
Speaker
And with that in mind, let us count the Omer today in obedience to God's commandment to do so. If you would like to count the Omer, simply repeat after me.
00:07:22
Speaker
Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your commandments and has commanded us to count the Omer.
00:07:45
Speaker
to- Today is the first day of the seventh week and day 43.
00:07:55
Speaker
I have counted the Omer.
00:07:58
Speaker
I am so excited because we have only seven more days left of counting the Omer. And then we are to expect a great blessing from God. I am just so excited to see what God is going to be doing this week.
00:08:12
Speaker
I'm just simply beside myself with excitement.
00:08:16
Speaker
So thank you for joining with me in obedience to counting the Omer. And we are going to head into our Bible reading for today. We have a lot to read in terms of where we're reading today. Remember, this is a chronological reading.
00:08:32
Speaker
So first we will have, ah we will be reading from 2 Kings chapter 15, and then we will read Isaiah chapter six, and then we will read 2 Chronicles chapter 27, verses one through six there.
00:08:50
Speaker
And then we will actually also read some of the book of Micah, who was a prophet, chapter one, verses one through nine and chapter 16. Today, and just like the other days, there will be a lot of prophecy involved. Prophecy is the future.
00:09:07
Speaker
And we are going to be reading about something that Jesus spoke about in the New Testament. So we will also be reading about that in our discussion for daily application so that we can see the message and the fulfillment of God's word that he is giving us in today's reading.
00:09:31
Speaker
Yesterday we read chapter 5 in Isaiah and to- today we are picking up in 2 Kings chapter 15 verses 17 through 35.
00:09:42
Speaker
Back in, and this is entitled Paying the Enemy to Leave. Now, if you remember correctly, ah the Israelites, as well as Judah, are being told by God that he is going to be sending them into exile.
00:09:59
Speaker
And if you remember, one of the things that God has been very upset over is that they have been relying upon other kingdoms, other people to help them rather than relying on God.
00:10:11
Speaker
And they have been told ah by both, let's see, I believe it was Amos,
00:10:21
Speaker
Yes, Amos, when he was telling Israel about what God was going to be doing, they told him not to bother telling them about these prophecies because their kingdom was a safe place for the king.
00:10:38
Speaker
So here we are. Back in Israel, Menahem was king and he was a bad king. He did what was wrong. Israel had an enemy. It was a nation called Assyria.
00:10:54
Speaker
The king of Assyria had his people come into Israel to fight. King Menahem gave them 37 tons of silver. He wanted Assyria to leave Israel alone.
00:11:07
Speaker
He wanted to keep being king. King Menahem got the silver from the people and everyone had to give silver for the king of Assyria. So the people from Assyria did leave Israel and they did not fight and instead they went back home.
00:11:24
Speaker
Sometime later, King Menahem died and his son became Israel's king. He was also a bad king and he also did what was wrong. Now there was a leader named Pekah and he took 50 men with him.
00:11:39
Speaker
He killed the king at his palace. Then Pekka became Israel's king, but he was also a bad king and he did what was wrong. Uzziah was still the king in Judah, but he died and his son Jotham became Judah's king.
00:11:57
Speaker
And he was a good king, just like his father Uzziah had been at the beginning. But the people, the people were doing wrong things.
00:12:08
Speaker
Isaiah chapter six, a burning coal. That same year, God put another picture in Isaiah's mind and Isaiah wrote down what he saw.
00:12:22
Speaker
The year Uzziah died, I saw God sitting in heaven. He was above others and he was great. His robe was so long that it filled the worship house.
00:12:35
Speaker
Beings from heaven were flying above God, and each one had six wings. The beings covered their faces with two wings. They covered their feet with two other wings, and they flew with two wings.
00:12:50
Speaker
They called out to each other, Good and right and holy is God who has all power. His greatness fills the whole earth.
00:13:02
Speaker
and The doors shook with their sound and smoke filled the worship house. I'm in trouble now, I cried. My life is finished.
00:13:13
Speaker
My lips are dirty with sin.
00:13:17
Speaker
and I live with people whose lips are dirty with sin. But now I have seen the king. have seen God who has all power. and then one of the beings flew over to me.
00:13:32
Speaker
He had a burning coal in his hand. It had come from the altar in the worship house. And he touched my lips with the coal. He said, look, this coal has touched your lips.
00:13:46
Speaker
Your sin is gone now. Then I heard God speak. Who will I send? Who will I send? Who will go for us?
00:13:58
Speaker
I am here, I said. Send me. God said, go and tell my people this. They will hear my words, but they won't understand.
00:14:12
Speaker
They will see what I do, but they don't know what it means. Make their hearts hard so they don't care about me. Make their ears dull.
00:14:24
Speaker
close their eyes. If you don't, then they might see, they might hear, they might understand, and they might turn back to me. Then I would make them well.
00:14:38
Speaker
How long? I asked. And God said, until the cities are torn down, until I send everybody far away. But my people will be like a tree that is cut down.
00:14:52
Speaker
the bottom part of a tree that is left. In the same way, there will be some people left in the land.
00:15:01
Speaker
2 Chronicles chapter 27 verses 1 through 6 and it's entitled, Lots of Power.
00:15:11
Speaker
Now Jotham was the king in Judah and King Jotham built back the upper gate at the worship house. He worked to fix part of the wall around the city, and he built towns in the hills.
00:15:22
Speaker
He built forts and towers in the woods. King Jotham also took his army out to fight. He won over the people of Ammon. So they paid him four tons of silver, and they also paid him with lots of wheat and other grain.
00:15:41
Speaker
King Jotham got lots of power. that's because kept following God.
00:15:50
Speaker
Micah, chapter 1, verses 1 through 9, and chapter 16. pile of rocks. pile of rock
00:16:00
Speaker
God put pictures and words in the mind of a man named Micah. And this happened when Jotham was king of Judah. It happened when Ahaz and Hezekiah were kings too.
00:16:12
Speaker
And the prophet Micah told what he saw about Israel and Judah.
00:16:18
Speaker
Hear this, all you people. Look, God is coming from where he lives. He comes down and walks on the high places. The mountains melt under his feet and the valleys break.
00:16:33
Speaker
They look like wax melting in a fire. They look like water running down a hill. It's because of the wrong things God's people have done.
00:16:45
Speaker
It's because of Israel's sins. So I will turn the city of Samaria into a pile of rocks. I'll toss its stones into the valley.
00:16:58
Speaker
The idols will be broken into pieces, says God. I will cry because of this. I won't wear shoes or clothes.
00:17:09
Speaker
I will cry out like a wolf. I'll cry like an owl. People from another nation will come into your land and they will carry your children away. And that's the end of our reading today.
00:17:29
Speaker
So we have a lot that's covered in here.

Isaiah's Vision and Mission

00:17:33
Speaker
And one of the things that I wanted to point out again is that it's the people who are doing wrong things.
00:17:41
Speaker
Even though Uzziah, king of is a Judah, was obeying God, the people were still doing wrong things, even though they had Jerusalem and the temple there.
00:17:52
Speaker
And they had priests. They were choosing to do wrong. And so now they too will be subject to God's judgment. It will happen at a time that is later than that of Israel, but it will happen.
00:18:07
Speaker
And we see that the the nation of Israel, although they have been told that Assyria will come and carry them away, they are only prolonging their their judgment and their consequence for their sin.
00:18:23
Speaker
They have paid the nation of Assyria not to fight with them, but eventually they will be taken.
00:18:33
Speaker
We see here in Isaiah that Isaiah was brought to see God and God said, who will I send? Who will go for us?
00:18:45
Speaker
And Isaiah was there and he answered that call and he said, I am here, send me. so this is the first step of our daily application. When God calls us, are we going to answer and say, I am here, send me.
00:19:02
Speaker
When God gives us something to do, it's important that we answer his call. And Isaiah was there and ready and he answered God's call and he was obedient. Now what God told him,
00:19:15
Speaker
is what Jesus spoke as being fulfilled when he came.

Parables and Understanding God's Message

00:19:20
Speaker
And it was being fulfilled at that time. It was still being fulfilled. It was a long time because we see Isaiah asked how long?
00:19:28
Speaker
And he said, until the cities are torn down, until I send everybody far away. But the people, but my people, the people who still look for God, the people who still worship God,
00:19:42
Speaker
will be like a tree that is cut down. That's the stump that remains. The bottom part of a tree that is left. In the same day same way, there will be some people left in the land.
00:19:56
Speaker
Now we know as well that the nation of Israel at some point became no longer a nation of Israel. And or in Judah as well.
00:20:07
Speaker
And God said, go and tell my people this. They will hear my words, but they won't understand. They will see what I do, but they won't know what it means.
00:20:20
Speaker
Make their hearts hard so they don't care about me. Make their ears dull, close their eyes. If you don't, they might see, they might hear, they might understand.
00:20:34
Speaker
They might turn back to me, then I would make them well. So God is saying that there will be people who are not able to understand God's words when he speaks.
00:20:48
Speaker
They'll see what God is doing, but they won't understand it. And we see that Jesus spoke about this in ah mar Matthew, Mark and Luke.
00:20:59
Speaker
So um we're going to turn to that
00:21:05
Speaker
in the big Bible and read about that.
00:21:12
Speaker
I really liked Luke's
00:21:16
Speaker
recording of it, but it's the same story. And it's the parable of the seeds that were scattered, that are scattered.
00:21:29
Speaker
I like both Matthew's ah telling and Luke's telling.
00:21:36
Speaker
Jesus began traveling throughout towns. This is Luke chapter eight. and preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The 12 were also with him and certain women who had been him been healed of evil spirits and infirmities.
00:21:55
Speaker
Miriam, the one called Magdalene, out of whom seven demons had come gone, Joanna, the wife of Cusa, Herod's finance minister, Susanna and many others were supporting them out of their own resources.
00:22:08
Speaker
And when a large crowd was gathering and those from various towns were traveling to him, he spoke by means of a parable. So it says that when there were a lot of people around, that is when Jesus spoke in parables.
00:22:27
Speaker
The sower went out to spread his seed, Jesus said. And as he sowed, some fell beside the road and was trampled and the birds of the air ate it up. And other seed fell on rock when it came up, and that seed withered away because it had no moisture.
00:22:45
Speaker
Other seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And other seed fell into the good soil, and when it came up, it produced fruit a hundredfold.
00:23:00
Speaker
While saying things, he would call out, He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Now his disciples were asking him what this parable meant.
00:23:10
Speaker
And then Jesus said to them, to you has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but to others, it is given in parables in order that seeing they may not see and hearing they may not understand.
00:23:31
Speaker
Now the parable is this, the seed is the word of God. And those beside the road are the ones who have heard. heard And then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart so that they may not believe and be saved.
00:23:46
Speaker
But those on the rocky places are the ones who, when they hear, they accept the word with joy, but these have no root. And they believe for a season and in a time of testing, they fall away.
00:24:03
Speaker
Now that which fell into the thorns are those who were hearing, but as they go along the way, they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and they do not bear mature fruit.
00:24:18
Speaker
But the seed in the good soil are those with a praiseworthy and good heart, who have heard the word and hold it fast and bear fruit with patient endurance.
00:24:33
Speaker
Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it with some object or places it under a bed, but he puts it on a lamp stand so that all those who enter may be able to see the light.
00:24:45
Speaker
For nothing is hidden that will not become evident nor secret that shall not be known and come into open view. So pay attention to how you listen.
00:24:56
Speaker
For whoever has, to him more will be given. And whoever does not have even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.
00:25:12
Speaker
That was the fulfillment. Jesus was explaining that that is what exactly what was going on. Now I like that in Matthew 13, he records a little bit differently, a little bit more. And he says to you,
00:25:34
Speaker
Let's see.
00:25:37
Speaker
This is where he specifically states in Matthew 13 is where he deliberately states that he is explaining Isaiah, what we just read. He said, To you has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom in heaven.
00:25:55
Speaker
Oh, let me back up one more to verse 10.
00:25:59
Speaker
Then the disciples came to him and said, Why do you speak to them? in parables he's referring to the people in the big crowds when jesus was speaking to a lot of people everybody was just coming to listen they didn't they weren't necessarily believers they they weren't jewish people they were just everybody they didn't necessarily believe in everything that was going on they were just hearing what jesus was teaching Why do you speak to them parables?
00:26:29
Speaker
And he replied to them, To you has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, him more will be given and he will have plenty.
00:26:43
Speaker
But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. For this reason, I speak to them in parables. because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
00:27:01
Speaker
And in them, the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, you will keep on hearing, but will never understand. You will keep looking, but will never see.
00:27:13
Speaker
For the heart of this people has become dull. Their ears can barely hear, and they have shut their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts.
00:27:27
Speaker
And then they would turn back, and I would heal them. but blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear.
00:27:39
Speaker
Amen. I tell you many a prophet and righteous person has longed to see what you are seeing and did not see and to hear what you are hearing and did not hear.
00:27:53
Speaker
Isn't that amazing? So there will be people that hear the word of God when we take it to them.

Reflecting on Faith and Spiritual Growth

00:28:00
Speaker
and They simply will never understand it. They simply won't hear it.
00:28:05
Speaker
They will see what is going on and yet they will never have understanding. Who are we? how are you? Are you seeing and knowing what God is doing?
00:28:18
Speaker
Are you hearing God's words and understanding what you hear? Are you bearing mature fruit? Are you staying with God and looking to him when you have difficult times in the world?
00:28:31
Speaker
Or are you falling away from God, not trusting in him? We are the seeds. the God's word is the seed that was sown in us. We need to examine where we have been planted.
00:28:45
Speaker
the the ah The seed that grows up and gets choked out by the thorns in the world are the ones that get choked out by worries and don't look to God. And they fall away and they say, oh I can't trust God with these things.
00:28:58
Speaker
I can't look to him. I can't believe that this is going to actually work. That might work for you, but it doesn't work for me.
00:29:08
Speaker
Like when somebody told me that I have faith, but I'm also a realist. Really? What are you a you really believing in? You're believing in the world.
00:29:19
Speaker
That is a faith that is being choked out by the worries of this world. I pray that you who are watching and will see, that you who are listening will hear with the ears to hear and to understand.
00:29:33
Speaker
I pray that you are not trying to put your light under a bed or under bowl, but that you are putting your light up high for all to see. And I pray that you are using and seeing daily application in God's word every day.
00:29:48
