Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot (pronounced shav-oo-oat) and Pentecost. As part of understanding and observing the festivals that God has appointed for us to observe, we count the Omer (pronounced oh-mare) today and then have our daily Bible reading session!
Here is the link for a downloadable devotional if you would like to count the Omer for yourself. It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/
Today's reading covers the Books of Micah 4:6-7, 5:2, 4-5, 6:6-13, 7:7-8,10, 16-20; 2 Kings 15:29, 16:1, 4-5; and Isaiah 7:2-19, 23-25. Today we will read about several prophecies detailing how to recognize the Messiah that God will send to the world. We will read that He will be from long ago, be born in Bethlehem, will be born of a young woman who is a virgin, and will be called Immanuel. We will also read about the Assyrians taking some of the Israelite people captive, and God instructing the people in what He does and not want. God does not want gifts or sacrifices. He wants us to be kind, do what is right, and make Him the most important one in our lives. God will also instruct King Ahaz of Judah, "to stand firm in what you believe. If you don't, you won't stand at all." In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the sureness we can have that JESUS IS THE MESSIAH, because He fulfills the prophecies spoken about here today. We will talk about the importance of believing in Jesus as our Messiah, which means Salvation, because it is Jesus alone who has saved us from eternal spiritual death and forgives us from our sins so that we can live with God forever in heaven. We will talk about how important it is to stand firm in this belief, not wavering from it, and being sure to do what GOD says is right, not what the world says is right and to make God the most important one in our lives, because we are set apart by Him by His commandments.
