Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between  Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot (pronounced shav-oo-oat) and Pentecost.  As part of understanding and observing the festivals that God has appointed for us to observe, we count the Omer (pronounced oh-mare)  today and then have our daily Bible reading session!

Here is the link for a downloadable devotional if you would like to  count the Omer for yourself. It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish  Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/

Today's reading covers the Books of Micah 4:6-7, 5:2, 4-5, 6:6-13, 7:7-8,10, 16-20; 2 Kings 15:29, 16:1, 4-5; and Isaiah 7:2-19, 23-25. Today we will read about several prophecies detailing how to recognize the Messiah that God will send to the world. We will read that He will be from long ago, be born in Bethlehem, will be born of a young woman who is a virgin, and will be called Immanuel. We will also read about the Assyrians taking some of the Israelite people captive, and God instructing the people in what He does and not want. God does not want gifts or sacrifices. He wants us to be kind, do what is right, and make Him the most important one in our lives. God will also instruct King Ahaz of Judah, "to stand firm in what you believe. If you don't, you won't stand at all." In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the sureness we can  have that JESUS IS THE MESSIAH, because He fulfills the prophecies spoken about here today. We will talk about the importance of believing in Jesus as our Messiah, which means Salvation, because it is Jesus alone who has saved us from eternal spiritual death and forgives us from our sins so that we can live with God forever in heaven. We will talk about how important it is to stand firm in this belief, not wavering from it, and being sure to do what GOD says is right, not what the world says is right and to make God the most important one in our lives, because we are set apart by Him by His commandments.

If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light  today, please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a HEART or LIKE  button) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have  not done so  already.

If you know someone who might be interested in reading the Bible with me  this year please SHARE today's reading with them! It's never too late  to join in! Let's help this event grow and together we can spread the  word about reading God's Word!

00:00:02
Speaker
Hello everybody! Today is Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 and you are here with Robin at In The Family Way Coaching. We are here for our daily counting of the Omer and our daily Bible reading.
00:00:17
Speaker
We are going through the Bible this year using the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley. And we are also using our commitment calendar. Not everybody, but those of us who are.
00:00:29
Speaker
Get your sticker ready or however you're marking that off because you're about to hear the Bible today.
00:00:36
Speaker
We are almost to the end of May. We are almost to the end of the counting of the Omer. Oh my goodness, I am so excited. I just can't tell you how excited I am.
00:00:48
Speaker
There is just so much that God is doing and I am just, ah, so excited.
00:00:58
Speaker
I hope you are excited too during this time. And if not, I hope some of my excitement rubs off onto you.

00:01:05
Speaker
For those of you who may not know, i will be uploading a new calendar for June here by the end of this week.

Blessing for Omer and Meditation on God's Word

00:02:32
Speaker
We are ready for our daily counting of the Omer, what's left of it. And if you would like to count the Omer with me, just repeat after me.
00:02:42
Speaker
Blessed are you, o Lord our God, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your commandments and has commanded us to count the Omer.
00:03:05
Speaker
Today is the second day of the seventh week and day 44. I have counted the Omer.
00:03:18
Speaker
Oh, I'm so excited.
00:03:22
Speaker
These are appointed times that God has with us. So that means that he has an appointment with you. he has an appointment with me. And I am just so excited about these appointed times.
00:03:35
Speaker
They just really help keep you walking side by side with the Lord, I find. And I have been using ah ah devotional at shoreshdavid.org.
00:03:49
Speaker
And to- today's theme is meditate on God's word for success. Happy is the one who has not walked in the advice of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the scar of scoffers seat of scoffers.
00:04:08
Speaker
But his delight is in the Torah of the Lord, and on his Torah he meditates day and night. He will be like a planted tree over streams of water, producing its fruit during its season.
00:04:24
Speaker
Its leaf never droops, but in all he does, He succeeds. Psalm 1 verses 1 through 3. The book of the Torah should not depart from your mouth.
00:04:37
Speaker
You are to meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. For then you will make your ways prosperous and then you will be successful.
00:04:48
Speaker
Joshua 1 verse 8. And our challenge is just a lot of what we've been talking about lately. That's why I wanted to be sure and share this today. God promises success as you apply his word to your daily life.
00:05:04
Speaker
During your day, how does scripture crowd out the world? And how does the world try to crowd out scripture? That is our challenge in the ShoreshDavid.org
00:05:18
Speaker
Counting of the Omer devotional.

Prophecies of Jesus and God's Plan

00:05:21
Speaker
Oh, I love that. Meditate on God's word for success. Woo, so excited.
00:05:29
Speaker
Well, today am also very excited because we are going to be reading some more prophecy about Jesus. So we are getting towards the end of the new test of of the old covenant.
00:05:43
Speaker
And ah so we are going to be seeing a lot of prophecy prophecy. ah Prophecy means that these are things that God told people would happen long before they were ever going to occur.
00:05:58
Speaker
And some of the prophecies are getting closer in their time here in our story to being happening, to happening. And so God today is actually going to give the people a timeline as to when one of these prophecies is set to happen.
00:06:16
Speaker
And then he he gives us understanding as to ah what order things will happen in. One of the things that I thought was very interesting this year that we've been learning is that in our reading, we've been seeing that God tells us that he doesn't do anything without telling us first.
00:06:37
Speaker
He tells us everything he's he's going to do We always want to know what the future is. Oh, what's going to happen? what What will we be? What will we do? And God tells us that future.
00:06:50
Speaker
It might not be in terms of day by day, daily future. but he's But that's because God's timing is not the same as our timing. God exists outside of time.
00:07:02
Speaker
A day for him is like nothing. He's always existed. He is the great I am. he has always existed and he always will exist.
00:07:14
Speaker
And that can be very difficult for our finite, our minds that have an end and a beginning, to comprehend. And everything that we see here on earth has a beginning and an end.
00:07:27
Speaker
But he does not. Even Jesus was with God in the beginning. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
00:07:38
Speaker
So we see in John 1-1 that even Jesus was there. And we saw yesterday in the prophecy that he was fulfilling, that Jesus was fulfilling, that he was telling about things, and that he had been around forever.
00:07:53
Speaker
He was telling about things that had been written a long time ago in God's plan.
00:08:01
Speaker
So today we are going to see more prophecy about the coming of Jesus, which as we know about this time is around 700 years before Jesus was to come.
00:08:13
Speaker
Our reading today comes to us from a lot of different places because remember this book is chronologically written, so it takes bits and pieces from each of the books to put together one continuous timeline of events.

King Ahaz and Virgin Birth Prophecy

00:08:28
Speaker
And that's what I love about this version. It is so awesome. I love having understanding of the big story this way. Our first section is entitled, A Ruler Will Come.
00:08:41
Speaker
And it comes to us from the book of Micah, who was a prophet, chapters 4, verses 6 through 7, chapter 5, verse 2, and chapters 4 and 5.
00:08:57
Speaker
God says what will happen in the last days. I will gather people who can't walk. I will gather people who have been taken from their land.
00:09:09
Speaker
I'll turn them into a strong nation. I will rule them from Zion mountain. I will rule them forever. Bethlehem, you are a small town in Judah, but someone who will rule my people will come from you.
00:09:27
Speaker
He comes from long, long ago. He will lead God's people like a shepherd. He will lead in God's power. He will lead in God's great name.
00:09:41
Speaker
God's people will be safe. People all over the world will see his greatness. He will bring peace.
00:09:52
Speaker
Micah chapter 6, verses 6 through 13. This is entitled, What Does God Want? What should I bring when I worship God?
00:10:04
Speaker
Should I come with gifts? Does God want cows and goats and oil? Should I give my first child for my sins? No.
00:10:16
Speaker
God shows us what is good. He wants us to be fair and to love kindness. He wants us to let him and be the greatest.
00:10:29
Speaker
He wants us to walk with him. Listen, God is calling the city. It's wise to make God's name the most important.
00:10:41
Speaker
God says, listen to me when I say you are wrong. Am I supposed to forget the riches you stole? Am I supposed to let you get away with lying?
00:10:53
Speaker
I will

Jesus' Fulfillment of Prophecies

00:10:54
Speaker
bring you trouble.
00:10:58
Speaker
Micah chapter 7 verses 7 through 8, chapter 10, and chapter 16 through 20. This section is entitled, God will be my light.
00:11:12
Speaker
This is what Micah says. I'm watching for God. I'm hoping in him. I'm waiting for God because he saves me. My God will hear me.
00:11:26
Speaker
Maybe I fell. But I'll get up again. my and Maybe I sit in the dark, but God will be my light. My enemies said, Where is the Lord your God?
00:11:41
Speaker
I will see my enemies fall. They will be run over like mud in the street.
00:11:49
Speaker
Nations will see, and they will feel bad. Their power will be taken away and they'll put their hands over their mouths. Their ears won't be able to hear.
00:12:01
Speaker
They'll shake in fear and turn to God. Where is there another God like you? You forgive sins. You don't keep being angry forever.
00:12:14
Speaker
Instead, you like to show your kind love. You'll throw away our sins and it will be like throwing them into the deep sea. You'll keep your promises to your people.
00:12:28
Speaker
You'll be kind to them. it'll be just like you promised a long time ago. 2 Kings chapter 15, verse 29. Chapter 16, verse 1. Chapters 4 5.
00:12:41
Speaker
chapter sixteen verse one chapters four and five Isaiah chapter seven, verses two through 19, and chapters 23 through 25. This last section is entitled, The Sign.
00:13:01
Speaker
Pekka was the king of Israel, but the army of Assyria came into the land. They won fights with many of the cities, and they took people away to Assyria.
00:13:15
Speaker
Back in Judah, Jotham was king, but he died and then his son Ahaz became king.
00:13:23
Speaker
He was a bad king in Judah. He made idols and worshiped Baal, the fake god. Now the army of Aram got together with the army of Israel.
00:13:37
Speaker
They marched out to fight Jerusalem in Judah. They didn't win, but somebody told King Ahaz, the armies of Israel and Aram are together.
00:13:49
Speaker
So King Ahaz and his people were afraid. They were like trees shaking in the wind. God spoke to Isaiah. Go see King Ahaz, he said.
00:14:02
Speaker
Take your son with you. Meet Ahaz at the end of the upper pool's water pipe. It's on the road to the washerman's field. God said to tell Ahaz, Be careful.
00:14:17
Speaker
Don't panic. Don't be scared. Don't give up. The kings of Israel and Aram are like firewood that is burned up. They plan to get rid of Judah.
00:14:32
Speaker
Then God said this, It won't happen. In 65 years, there will be little left of je of Israel. So stand firm in what you believe.
00:14:44
Speaker
If you don't, you won't stand at all. God talked to Ahaz again. Ask me to give you a sign, he said.
00:14:55
Speaker
I won't ask for a sign, said Ahaz. I won't test God. Then God will give you a sign himself. said Isaiah. There will be a young woman.
00:15:08
Speaker
She will never have slept with a man like a wife would, but she will have a baby. She will call her son Emmanuel, which means God is with us.
00:15:22
Speaker
He will grow old enough to know what's right and wrong, and then he will eat honey. Before that time, the nations of Israel and Aaron will be torn down.
00:15:33
Speaker
Then God will bring the nation of Assyria against your land. And God will call for Egypt's army and Assyria's army to come. They'll come like flies from the river.
00:15:45
Speaker
They'll come like bees. They'll come and fill the valleys. They'll be all around the weeds and the ponds. Then weeds will grow where the vines once grew, and people will go there to hunt with bows and arrows.
00:16:02
Speaker
The hills that grew crops will grow weeds instead. Cows and sheep will run around on the hills.
00:16:12
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:16:18
Speaker
So we see a lot of prophecy about Jesus in here, don't we?
00:16:24
Speaker
God tells us that Jesus came from long, long ago. so that's how we know Jesus was always with God.
00:16:35
Speaker
And we know that when God's angel appeared and we were told that that angel carried his name, that that also was Jesus. So now Jesus, we are reading, which we all pretty much know nowadays because we've been reading it for a long time, but this is where it was written.
00:16:53
Speaker
This is when God was telling them, this is the point in time in the big story where God was telling his people that he was going to send ah ruler and God was being clear.

Importance of Faith in Jesus

00:17:07
Speaker
What does he want? Does he want sacrifices? No, God shows us what is good and he wants us to be fair and to love kindness.
00:17:20
Speaker
He wants us to let him be the greatest. He wants us to walk with him. Are we walking with God and making God the greatest? Are we being kind and doing what is right?
00:17:34
Speaker
It's wise to make God's name the most important. God says, listen to me when I say you are wrong. Am I supposed to forget the riches you stole? Am I supposed to let you get away with lying?
00:17:49
Speaker
God will discipline those whom he loves. God loves his children. But he also sent us a way to be forgiven of all of our sins so that we don't need to do sacrifices anymore.
00:18:02
Speaker
With the Day of Atonement, God gave us Jesus and he was telling us the great sign that would be so that we could know with certainty that this was going to be the one whom Jesus sent.
00:18:17
Speaker
For those who claim that Jesus is only a prophet or only was a great teacher or a great man, these verses here show God's signs that he is not just anybody.
00:18:29
Speaker
He is the way. He is the truth and he is the way to God. He himself is the only one who has ever been born of a woman who was never with her husband the way a wife would be.
00:18:44
Speaker
and he was born in the town of Bethlehem. Jesus fu fulfills the prophecies that God spoke over 700 years before he was born.
00:18:58
Speaker
We can know with certainty that God tells the truth, that he is faithful to us, he keeps his promises, and that Jesus is indeed the one whom God sent to be our savior and the ruler of the world.
00:19:15
Speaker
He came to be our light and our ruler. And he came to sit on David's throne, just as God promised a long, long time ago.
00:19:28
Speaker
Another part of our daily application today is when God says stand firm in what you believe. If you don't, you won't stand at all.
00:19:40
Speaker
It's very important that we stand firm in our belief in Jesus as our Messiah. It is very important that we stand firm in believing what is right and what is wrong.
00:19:53
Speaker
It's very important to stand firm with our belief that God is right and we need to do what is right. We need to make him the most important one.
00:20:04
Speaker
It's important to stand firm in these things because God says that these are the things that are right to do. God desires us to do what is right. We are set apart by his commandments.
00:20:18
Speaker
These are things that God has commanded us to do. and no one can come to him except through believing that Jesus is the Messiah whom he sent.
00:20:29
Speaker
Messiah means salvation. God, Jesus saved us. We have so much talk about people saving and being heroes. People are not the heroes that we need to be looking up to.
00:20:42
Speaker
If we're looking for a hero to look up to, look to Jesus. He is the one who saved us from death. He saved us from our sins. He is alone as the one who is responsible for giving us eternal life in him.
00:20:58
Speaker
Our physical bodies may pass away, but we have eternal life with him. And he tells us that he has gone to prepare a place for us. And that if it were not so, he wouldn't tell us that.
00:21:11
Speaker
Jesus is truth. He is one of the three head of God. And we need to stand firm in what we believe. Because if we don't, we won't stand at all.

Sharing Belief and Community Engagement

00:21:25
Speaker
So that is our daily application today. And I hope you are as excited as I am as we read about these amazing prophecies that God gave us as and to know that Jesus is our Lord with certainty and to be encouraged to stand for what you believe in and to tell others about him.
00:21:47
Speaker
And we can, one of the ways we can do that is by encouraging people to read God's word. We want people to understand it, not just read it. And so we have this event that I've been very motivated to do by God's direction so that people can and not just read God's word, but understand so that they have ears to hear and eyes to see, as we read about yesterday.
00:22:13
Speaker
So thank you for joining me today. i hope that you feel God has lit your light. And if so, I would encourage you and ask that you please click that light button so that other people can be attracted to our lights and so that people can hear God's word and know what it is to believe in Jesus, to know that he is the way and the truth and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through him and that God doesn't want anyone to perish, but he wants everybody to come to everlasting life.
00:22:44
Speaker
And so thank you for joining me today, whether you are following along on your favorite podcast, which is available anywhere you listen, such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Podbean, Podfriend, Overcast, Cast Off.
00:23:01
Speaker
Let's see, where else? It's also on Zencaster. And we also have it on YouTube Music and YouTube. And we have that available on my site at inthefamilywaycoaching.com.
00:23:17
Speaker
So thank you so much for joining me today. And I will be here for everybody again tomorrow. Have a fabulous, joyful rest of your day today.
