Introduction and Banter

00:00:16
Speaker
Hello everybody, welcome to another amazing episode of the Triple T for Knifemakers podcast. And you my ah my co-host is a dickhead.
00:00:28
Speaker
And his name is, i'm not even going to say his name. My name is Dennis Trell of Trell Knifeworks and my idiot co-host is Jared Sandoval of Echo Blades. What's up man, how are you I'm recovering, that's how I am.
00:00:45
Speaker
Recovering? Yeah. What happened?

Crabbing Adventure

00:00:47
Speaker
So uh, my buddy, Chris, uh, which is perfect timing. Cause I had a class Friday, Saturday, and it was either Friday morning or Saturday morning. i don't remember. Um, he reaches out to me and says, Hey, do you want to go crabbing on Sunday?
00:01:04
Speaker
I'm like, that's perfect because I have another class Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday is my only day off. So we go a crabbing yesterday and It was like... Where'd you go?
00:01:16
Speaker
Bodega Bay. So it's far. It's early. Actually, it wasn't that bad. um And the time change. So when I got down into my car, because the time doesn't change my car, it was 2.30 that I left.
00:01:31
Speaker
Your house? Well, because it was 3.30 because of the time change. Because I had to go to Fairfield and we were I had to be in Fairfield by 5 and I always wanted to be early. You know, someone is taking you fishing. You do not absolutely be late.
00:01:46
Speaker
ah We went crabbing. We got out on the water. um i helped set up the crab pots and bait the pots. 10 minutes later, i am puking my gut. I haven't been seasick in 30 years. I am puking my guts out for the rest of the day.
00:02:03
Speaker
I was useless. It was Wait, wait a minute.
00:02:10
Speaker
You guys got on the boat. Got on the boat. Okay, Captain. Captain Terrell. Reporting for duty, sir. i was not the captain. I was the second mate.
00:02:23
Speaker
There's three of us. and Get on the boat and you guys get out out ah out of harbor, boat, pond, whatever you're going. You head out to the water. We're out of Bodega Bay and now we're, I don't know, 10, 20 months. Baiting the pots. Baiting the pots. Like putting the bait in the i Yeah, and then you start yuking.
00:02:41
Speaker
And I started throwing up. i there was It was like 10 foot swells. And it's not that big of a boat. It's probably a like... it 20-foot boat, maybe. All right, guys. Now, listen, all four of you listening to this right now. i know what you're expecting from me, and I just want to let you know that I am a complete and absolute yeah enigma because I in no way, shape, or form can talk shit to this guy like you want me to because when it comes to being the bitch about being in swells,
00:03:20
Speaker
I am that guy as well. Oh, well, the the funny thing is I'm not that guy. I've done so many trips to the Farallons. I've been on a boats many times.
00:03:31
Speaker
I attribute it. i bought one of those Starbucks Frappuccino super sweet drinks, and I had no breakfast. And I usually never do. And I had so i took Meclizine. I took some seasickness meds that morning, too. and Well, you either get seasick or you don't. Make up your mind.
00:03:50
Speaker
No. Well, why do you take the medicine if you don't? Um, just for insurance.
00:03:58
Speaker
all right well you're making it hard for me not to make fun of you i'm trying to i'm trying to be supportive here and let you know that i have i've been seasick one time however we were i was shit housed by five o'clock in the morning during that time but uh yeah i spent the whole day chumming up the waters as well yeah but i have never been crabbing before i mean i've we've like they You haven't been now. You still haven't been. When I used to do the shark diving, they would drop a bunch of pots and then go to the fair lunch and pick them up on the way back. And anyone who had a fishing license gets gets to keep crab. But it by no means was I pulling the pots or anything like that. But this was pretty cool. We dropped 12 from what I saw from my little seat in the back of the boat. But we dropped 12 pots.
00:04:52
Speaker
The first pot that came up had like 30 crab in it. Only four were keepers, but I didn't expect to see so much crab come up. Like, we had a shit ton crab.
00:05:04
Speaker
And it's not like Deadliest Catch Crab, right? these are Dungeon Ness. But I just didn't expect so many. Like, we were... Like there was tons, like they're all over the bottom of the boat and running around shit. And, uh, but it was really cool. And, um, we went through the gear twice. It was only 12 pots and, uh, we limited out. We actually had 35 and we got to pick and choose and throw five back. And, uh, yeah, you're only allowed 35.
00:05:31
Speaker
Well, there's three of us, 10 each. Oh, okay. Gotcha. So, uh, yeah, we had a big crab feed last night. Um, I can't, I can't, you don't like crab. I can't.
00:05:42
Speaker
I can't. I've, yeah. I figured out that apparently I liked butter more than I liked the crab. in addition to that, I had I don't know.
00:05:56
Speaker
I had a reset in my life, right? Where, I was a douchebag for a long time and then I had to reset. So I basically started like all over. And during my climb back to getting to be, you know, a normal financially somewhat secure kind of person, i i was we were down in L.A. taking my daughter I think it's called King's Fishery or something like that.
00:06:20
Speaker
in southern california like a little chain really good restaurant always had a great time there but i first time i ever was in a position to be like i'm getting the crab it was like deadliest catch time got the big old fucking huge honker crab legs oh the king crabs i have never been more sick in my life i we actually like had to stay an extra day the the whole trip got extended one day because i was so you got food poisoning from crab that has to be it yeah it was like a a bad crap have i i'll tell you more about it off off air because it's it's really funny and if you want to know i'll tell you in texas but it's not this must be a good one okay you're tell me and then i'm going to tell the story on next week's show that when you're not there don't even bring that up to
00:07:12
Speaker
ah But it was so bad. Like even this morning, I was still a little queasy. That was how bad it was. But, and we, we had, but the good news is we had crab for four people last night. So you got sick all day long and then you ate crab?
00:07:27
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, wouldn't say I just wasn't a hundred percent this morning, maybe 95%. Yeah. And I still got probably two cups of crab that I cleaned out of the, the, the, the rest of the crabs. I'm to make some crab cakes tomorrow and.
00:07:42
Speaker
yeah I think I told you that when I went up to ah to see ah Lockwood. He had crack. Oh, that's right. You did tell me that. and i was like Yeah, thank you. it's hard yeah It's hard to be, you know, not not be an ungrateful guest. You're like, nah, I can't pass. All right, I'm looking forward to hearing this one.
00:08:06
Speaker
er But yeah, but it was still, I mean, I guess... In the moment, i was like, i don't give a shit about my 10 crab. Let's go. But I was glad that, you know, they stuck it out and finished it off.
00:08:23
Speaker
But Brad, the one guy, he was tired. He was pulling like, because the the pots are like 80 feet down. So he's got to pull like 80 feet of rope. um Oh, it's not automated? No. So he's pulling. I was there to help with the pots, right? So he's got to pull 24 pots times.
00:08:45
Speaker
like 80 90 feet of rope and then heave them over the side of the boat full of crab so he was exhausted by the last few and so i felt i bought the guy's lunch after because i felt bad that's the least you could do i know ah but oh i meant to post that actually now i'll post it tomorrow with all the pictures of the crap But yeah.
00:09:10
Speaker
And my wife is leaving for Disney tomorrow. So I'm a i'm solo for the next four days, but which is good because I need to finish some knives. Cool.
00:09:22
Speaker
Yeah.

Family Driving Experiences

00:09:23
Speaker
But how have you been? I've been all right. Yeah? Not puking your guts out? no not picking my guts out oh good good so um i did yeah yeah yeah so guys yeah be beware bay area california drivers jared jr has got his l's last week ah his license yeah okay good good yep he uh
00:09:53
Speaker
We've been waiting and waiting and waiting for forever, it seems. But yeah, he took the test last Wednesday. I was so nervous for him for some reason. And i actually forgot to to talk about it. But i actually wasn't nervous until my wife and him called me right before he was about to go. i was just like...
00:10:13
Speaker
Because I'm the kind of guy, I don't take tests well. There's people that like study good, learn good. you know i It doesn't matter what it is. therere every And for whatever reason, i have had the privilege...
00:10:26
Speaker
from the great state of California to have to take a written test every single time I've ever renewed my license. How is that possible? Every single time. I have no fucking idea. Every single time. I have never been able to just renew my license. Must be something about how you look or the cut of your jib. don't know.
00:10:47
Speaker
i don't know. Yeah. Like, this guy looks shifty. We're going to make him take the written test. Every time. and I didn't know that was even a thing. Yeah. Oh, no, it's a fucking thing. because And every single time I have to do it um or i've I've had to do it.
00:11:04
Speaker
Are you sure? I said it this year. I was like, yeah, good this is this is this is a little, you know. I'm damn, I was 40 something years old. I'm like, I can't I just get one?
00:11:15
Speaker
okay And, and I stress out even when I take that test. So, but this was the behind the wheel thing. And he, I knew it was going to be fine, but he, uh, he got it. He's all fired up. Did you train him or did he go to school?
00:11:27
Speaker
You have to go to a school. yeah Oh, that he's under 18. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. He's under 18. Both my boys did it when they were over 18.
00:11:36
Speaker
no but i mean Yeah, we ah yeah we we taught him. The only thing i i didn't he didn't have that I made the girls and everybody else do is learn on a stick shift because I don't i don't have one. I've always had a car that had a manual transmission and this we don't have one, so I couldn't couldn't do it with him on this one. But yeah, he did he did it. He got it. um All the things he was going through with trying to get his job.
00:12:02
Speaker
Um, that's all squared away. It goes tomorrow to start his little intake stuff. is nice So are you going to put them on your insurance? I did. Oh, you did.
00:12:13
Speaker
i did. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and I think if for whatever reason, that either my wife's completely lying to me or, um,
00:12:26
Speaker
Cause I have another kid that's still on our insurance and that one's really expensive. So maybe they're like, well, we'll cut the guy break and and not double dip him on. What is it like on 25 a month?
00:12:39
Speaker
It's more than that for one of them. No, I'm talking about for Jared. Yeah. For the other kid, it's more than that. And I think she came back was like 55 for him or something like that. a month.
00:12:51
Speaker
Yeah. She must be putting him occasional driver or something. Nah, no, no. I think I pay probably more than people pay for their fucking house or rent and insurance.
00:13:03
Speaker
So so okay I don't know. Dennis, I don't know. I don't know. Dennis, do you fucking talk to my insurance agent, dude? well I don't want have this conversation. I'm going to get angry about how much money I have to spend. It's the fifty five dollars is a deal.
00:13:18
Speaker
It's a great deal. That's a great deal. I'm surprised it's not twice that. But it used to be he's a boy. It used to be in the 200s. And then the one thing California did that makes well, I don't know that it makes sense because boys get in more accidents than girls statistically. But they said but they said you couldn't discriminate. And now they have to be the same price.
00:13:46
Speaker
Yeah. so So at any rate, I still pay a, yeah, a lot for, for, for it all. But, uh, yeah, that, that's cool. He's ready to go. I'm super proud of him. Um, he's out cruising around every now and again. Um, yeah.
00:14:05
Speaker
And then what i do do? Oh, this i had a a

Trade Show and Top Golf Experiences

00:14:09
Speaker
trade show. This member a couple years back. I think when we first started, i went to a trade show for work in Sacramento and I tried to pitch Milwaukee knives to sponsor the show.
00:14:21
Speaker
You know, trying to what I tried to pitch Milwaukee, the tool company. yeah They have ah a vendor table there and I tried to get them to sponsor the show. Yeah. Yeah. And yeah.
00:14:33
Speaker
and they were like, yeah, no, but the guys were a bunch of fucking tools. I didn't really think anything anyways, literally that's funnier than I thought it was. i But, uh, yeah, they were like, Oh yeah, we make, we make, know, we have our own line of knives. I'm like, yeah, I'm not talking about your shitty knives. I'm talking about like, you know, custom, like good, good stuff.
00:14:55
Speaker
And, uh, but anyways, it was, it was that one. And, uh, That's a once a year thing in Sacramento. And, man, I just don't enjoy that. Like it is not my thing to go hang around other sprinkler contractors and talk shop. Like, are you busy? Yeah, I'm busy. You busy. Oh yeah. Or no, we're not busy. Oh oh yeah. you're busy It's like, it is the lamest thing in the world to me.
00:15:21
Speaker
Well, I don't think it's just your, uh, business i remember like going to conferences and like people wanting to talk about like computer shit i'm like no there's people that are fucking get away from me like i don't want to i'm here as like a boondoggle because i don't want to be at work don't talk to me about yeah I went on my own time down here. Like this was just because I, you know, and ah there's things I have to do and I'm happy to do that. Right. It's part of part of the job. um It's not not what I'm talking about. But like some people eat that stuff up and that's just not me. I just it's just not me. So I had to go do that.
00:15:59
Speaker
i'm with you on The coolest thing I got was a fucking fire extinguisher stress ball thing. on my dad I think you need a few of those. I was so stoked for this thing. and i did it It is the coolest thing. I did get a bucket too. i was like They were handing out buckets. A lot of the the installers carry their tools and shit in a bucket. It's kind of the thing.
00:16:22
Speaker
A bucket? A bucket, like ah like our swath buckets. So we got free bucket. Okay. Like a Lowe's $5 bucket? Like Home Depot bucket? Yeah. yeah All right.
00:16:36
Speaker
It was a hit. They were everywhere. And i was like, let me go get me one of them. I need another one. I got a new grinder. Yeah. Saved myself like three bucks from, uh, from Harbor Freight. yeah
00:16:49
Speaker
Yeah. And then we did a top golf after that. Oh, okay. The one inside every year. Yeah. Every, uh, Roseville, I think it is, but every year they've done this, the top scores get dip gift cards.
00:17:04
Speaker
This year, I crushed the top score one. And I got a fucking shiny kick in the ass. I was angry. So this is why you've been getting good at golf. Just so you can show up all of your workmates and do really well at the company top It's not that hard. There's other people there though. Like there's always a random person that's decent at golf.
00:17:31
Speaker
And, and you know, the, the last time I did it, cause I missed the one last year cause we were, I went to Texas and, um, But the year before, I was just kind of, like, fucking around, and I didn't know that they were going to give out cards.
00:17:45
Speaker
Okay, I got to know. I got to know. Were you that guy that brought in your own clubs? No. Okay. No, not this time. I would. i mean, if I was going by myself, I probably would.
00:18:01
Speaker
Okay. I'm not against that. I'm, like, to the work event. Did you, like, bring in your own clubs? Yeah, no, I didn't. No, it wasn't. It's not that serious, Dennis, but...
00:18:12
Speaker
But yeah, so that was kind of a bummer. But it's fucking late night, dude. We didn't get out of there until like 11, 10, 11. that's the middle of the night for you. Yeah. But yeah, that was cool.
00:18:24
Speaker
um But got to see. yeah It's kind of cool, though, when you get to see people in your company you don't see every because you want to see the installers very often so um that that part's kind cool but other than that maybe some old old people that i've worked with in the past and whatnot but yeah the rest of that crap is just like it's bad uh did you make it into the shop at all uh no not this week not this week at all you didn't you didn't You didn't get a replacement for your your VFD that we exploded?
00:18:59
Speaker
I did not. So I did send it back, talked to Kevin. ah Did he laugh at What did Kevin say? What did Kevin say when you told Did I?
00:19:11
Speaker
and No, I talked about I was going to do that after, huh? Yeah, you never, I don't know what anything about your discussion with Kevin. hold on Hold on one second. This is how it starts. Okay. It says, be worn very shameful text to follow.
00:19:31
Speaker
And in there, I was like, you know, let me know what you want me to do. Money, community service, something like that. And he laughed. and they so they were gracious enough to just have me send it back. They're going to replace it.
00:19:45
Speaker
But that's the kind of service that they got, customer service they do there at Ameribrade. So worked with them. And then, by default, I've had something else that I needed to share's send back to them. I've been...
00:19:57
Speaker
It is literally, this is, this is embarrassing. It is literally on that big welding table, the box yeah i'm surprised yes that I was supposed to ship out. It is literally right out in front and it is completely, it like went camouflage and became part of the table.
00:20:15
Speaker
Cause I have zero, like nothing has reminded me that this box needs to go. And it has been a long time. Does it have a label on it? Oh, yeah.
00:20:26
Speaker
I mean, there's I have zero excuse here, buddy. This is a flat out, just like out of mind, out of sight, but right in plain sight. I have shit on top of it. I was using the box, like flattening some shit out. It just became part of my fucking welding table. Like and not even a ah ah a reason for me to move it at all until I was packing up the box right next to it And I'm like, Oh, Hey, so both of those went out and, uh, they got it. So I should be getting that, that replaced here soon.
00:20:56
Speaker
Oh, good. I'm reading your notes. We have lots of comments about the VFD blowing up. Lots of them were about what, how to avoid it. Yeah. Yeah. Well, if I can wire it correctly, that's how you avoid it.
00:21:10
Speaker
look, I love everybody. Yeah.
00:21:16
Speaker
I love you all, but I am very sorry if I didn't make this clear enough that I trusted Dennis and I'm the laziest motherfucker on the planet. And, and I, we just didn't do it.
00:21:31
Speaker
And both of us, we just made a dumb ass mistake and rushed through it. And I take full accountability for, for not doing the due diligence You know, this was completely avoidable. I know that. And I appreciate all of your your messages. too Yeah, we were yeah in a hurry and we're just looking. so And we were, so I mean, convinced it was right.
00:21:53
Speaker
Yeah, we didn't we didn't see that those wires were movable. No. It was very plain after we took it apart. And I left it like it is so they can fucking laugh at me when they get there. I did not send the picture to Kevin, I didn't want to be a fucking promo for what's dumb dumb of the year.
00:22:14
Speaker
That would have been funny if it was a voicemail. Oh, yeah. They're good dudes. So I would have expected something like that. I was going say, you might as well do the ad read. Go for it. I mean, if you're the market for a brand new grinder, you got to go check out our boys at Ameribraid, the makers of the Fastback 2x72 and the Hyperdisk.
00:22:33
Speaker
ah They have, ah oh, ah right now, too, you can use the discount code TTT10 for 10% off all accessories. And for the first time ever, you can now use the discount code TTT, that's three Ts, for a discount on all the machines. I believe it's packages.
00:22:50
Speaker
um So if you're wanting to use the best grinder on the market, make sure you go check out Ameribraid at Ameribraid.com and go get yourself one of their grinders, the Hyperdisk and all of their awesome attachments.
00:23:08
Speaker
I was just answering emails. Was it an email? Yeah. Someone reached out via the my website asking me about an Ameribraid surface grinding attachment.
00:23:20
Speaker
And would it fit on his grinder? And I told him, why don't you reach out to Kevin or Eric, whoever answers, and ask them about that. I'm sure they will hook you up. I'm pretty sure you can get those things to run on ah on a grinder that has a two and a half inch, I mean, a one and a half inch two arm receiver.
00:23:38
Speaker
And yeah, make it work.
00:23:41
Speaker
So get going. Yeah, I'm all set up just looking at it. Got no power, Captain. I've given that all she's got.
00:23:55
Speaker
Oh, man. But I'll get out there Sunday for sure.
00:24:03
Speaker
I'm stoked about the time change. So you brought up the time change here. So I was having a conversation with the mutual acquaintance of ours. And this motherfucker used the term. Oh, yeah. I got to recover from the time change.
00:24:15
Speaker
Fuck off. It's only an hour. I'm like, are you fucking kidding me? You're telling me that you're. need to recover from the loss of one hour and that means ah you know alternatively that means like you celebrate the the fall where you get this hour back like so who was it coakley i'm not saying but i just i don't i don't understand that concept i mean maybe it's because i'm a guy that doesn't run on a lot of sleep you know normally but ah yeah i'm so stoked for the time change just for for more light more just right everything it's just all around i'm i'm all fired up um and uh yeah but the the the concept of that whole i need to recover and i'm sure shit i gotta fucking i'm late this morning which was pretty funny one of my guys said i'm late this morning and i'm like what you don't have a phone
00:25:10
Speaker
ah Like he doesn't have a phone? ah just He goes, I'm late. And I go, how how late are you? And he's like, well, we'll just say like I'm a time change.
00:25:22
Speaker
Late. And I was like, all right. He didn't blame it on that. No. He was just quantifying the time he was going to be buying. Which I laughed. I was like, okay, that was a pretty funny answer. Yeah.
00:25:34
Speaker
the best The best one I've ever had, though, was me and my excuses are going to be 20 minutes late. that's the That is the simple that flat out the best I'm going to be late I've ever got. I mean, I've heard all kinds of shit. But me and my excuses are going to be 15, 20 minutes late. That was a good one.
00:25:56
Speaker
So, um yeah.

Golfing with Family

00:25:59
Speaker
But ah what happened? Yeah. Yeah, so Jared and I golfed on Saturday, and we both shit the bed and shot 101. one on one Wow, that's a big departure from low 80s.
00:26:11
Speaker
Yeah, it was. it was And no we tried to like kill each other. i mean, that's what I, again, man, you guys, I'll say this a million times, though. There's a very purposeful amount of time being spent doing this with my son.
00:26:23
Speaker
And one of those is a moment like Saturday, because there's a lot of awesome times where we're just, you know, things are going good. We're going back and forth, talking golf. And then there's times like Saturday where we want to literally kill each other.
00:26:36
Speaker
Like I, I, yeah, I, I, I had to apologize him later on that day because I was i was a bit of a dick to But yeah, we were, you know, he was he was frustrated with how he was playing. And then I start worrying about him trying to help him. And then he's frustrated because he doesn't want to hear my shit. and then now And now we're like, you know, going back and now I'm in my head. Now I'm starting to play like shit. And, you know, pretty soon we're like by the 18th hole, we're ready to throw each other in the water. But ah it's it's those kind of things that I, in and in retrospect, I know I'm going to look back on it and love.
00:27:11
Speaker
But then on the next day, come back and and he shot 85 and I shot 90. So I had this this thing on here. I've been going back and forth, but fuck it. I tell everybody everything that happens and that's just the way it is.
00:27:25
Speaker
So golf, sorry guys, but golf is is an etiquette game, right? So there's very, and golfing with new people is kind of hard because there's just a handful of things where you just, you can't help but feel like a dick.
00:27:39
Speaker
trying to explain things to them. Don't walk in for somebody's line. Don't talk while they're swinging. You don't put your shadow while they're putting like, there's just some things that you don't do. And one of them is like, is pace of play. Like, and I will say this with my hats off to Mr. Dennis here. When we played, he's like, I, so I'm played in a long time. I'm probably going to suck.
00:28:00
Speaker
I'm not going to keep score. And when it got to like, you know, four or five strokes, he just pick his ball up and move on so we can keep our pace. Yeah. we got stuck behind some douchebags. It was a little slow.
00:28:12
Speaker
Then they got like two or three holes behind and we started getting backed up behind us. And where we play, the whole pace of play is important, right? There's a, um,
00:28:24
Speaker
It got so slow that like we were, we were kind of like, I was on one hole. He's on another. We're side by side doing different things, but I can hear this fucking jackass. Like he's 10 yards, 15 yards away from me. And he's just fucking nonstice loud. And I'm about to try to hit a shot. So I look back behind me and to kind of like, you know, like figure out, like, are you going to stop?
00:28:45
Speaker
And I look back behind him and he acknowledges my look. And then I go back to hit the ball and he goes, what the fuck? And I turn back again. He's like, well, am I bothering you or something like that? And I'm like, bro, I'm trying to lock in here. Just let me get my shot, you know And so we kind of squashed that.
00:29:01
Speaker
Later on down the hole, like, you know, 10 holes later, there's still just no care in the world. Jared hits this fucking drive. Probably one of the best drives he's ever hit.
00:29:12
Speaker
because normally he's a little shorter hitter. So I told him to go ahead and tee off. He tees off. This dude's off in the side of the rough, on the side of like on the fence line of the course, and walks all the way over to the fairway. And one of the one of the things that you you not you try not to do, you don't intentionally do it unless you're being an asshole, is is hit into somebody, right? Even when it's slow, you don't you don't hit into them.
00:29:34
Speaker
So Jared hits this bomb, which 90% of the time when somebody hits into you, something like that happens. They get a hold of one. It creeps up on you. you know And they're, you know oh, my bad, sorry, didn't you know realize that.
00:29:45
Speaker
This fucking jackass. And I was irritated. I was playing super good. And then we started getting slow and then standing around and talking and get out of your groove. Jared hits in and this guy walks into the center of the fairway, picks up Jared's ball and throws it out of the course.
00:30:02
Speaker
And i lost my shit. So I said, Jared, get out of the cart. Yeah. Did you drive up and talk to him? i drove up. I had words with every single one of those motherfuckers.
00:30:16
Speaker
um And in in retrospect, you know, i have a little bit of shame because, you know, what happened was like the old me came out. Like many reasons why, like I can doctor feel this thing to death. Right.
00:30:29
Speaker
Probably not really excusable behavior. Right. ah It's I wouldn't want to be a part of that. Or, you know, trying to you're an adult. But because it happened to Jared too and like the perfect storm thing. So here I am Sunday afternoon in the middle of fairway motherfucking this guy and listening to him just be absolutely, he was shithouse too.
00:30:55
Speaker
And yeah, it was it was quite the event. But I was telling him, you pick a 17 year old kid's ball you throw it out of the fucking because you're being a fucking douchebag. Like you're playing slow and he's like, we're not fucking slow.
00:31:08
Speaker
I go on and on about how it was, but I wish I wouldn't have done it.
00:31:15
Speaker
18th hole. I told him finally, this one's funny. Cause I thought I said, I'll meet you at the clubhouse, bitch. Don't worry you told them about it. Oh yeah. Brent was making fun of me. He's like, yeah, that's, that's the, the, the, the most lamest thing I've ever heard. Thank you. That's a real gangster. jared ah so shy hats off brent that was good that one stuck with me this morning i love you brent yeah i'm trying to be a badass about how you know um but he waits and and jeff was with me so i went out there by myself and then uh
00:31:56
Speaker
jeff came trolling up afterwards which i appreciate you know because because probably not the smartest thing right i go up there by myself get out of the cart with nothing and i'm you know i got four people with you know 15 weapons in their bags they could have just all just whoop my ass with a bunch of fucking clubs that would been embarrassing too but then jeff comes up and So we were werere at the the finishing the round and they they hung out and they waited.
00:32:24
Speaker
And then Jared was driving up to to the green and this guy, I couldn't get there. And this guy comes and starts to approach Jared. And at that point I was like, all right, so if there's any kind of disrespect or some shit, yeah you pissed there's no words. Yeah, there's no words. Yeah, that would that would have that would have ended bad for him.
00:32:43
Speaker
but uh so i walk up to him and long story short he's just like uh you know are we good and i'm like no we're not good like you know blah blah and then i said you said you apologized to my son and well good know he goes i already did i apologized him so shook his hand and went about our business but so i had have this fucking talk with jared later on that day like you know i i apologize dude like that's He's never seen that for me. Like a couple times I've maybe lost my temper for driving or something like that. But like, and then Jeff at the, you know, then the next three holes i get, Jared gets the history of what a jackass his dad was when we were growing up. One time he was doing this. And then normally, i want to hear those stories.
00:33:25
Speaker
It's like normally when your dad was getting into fights, was people always fucking pushing him because he was an asshole. And then he had to go, hey, how bad are you? You know, that's what I'm going to do one day when you're off work and I'm going to get Jeff on the podcast. Oh, yeah, that'd be funny.
00:33:42
Speaker
Yeah. but Jeff, if you're listening, ah we're going to do it. Yeah, that was good. So there was that. Yeah. So, i had yeah, like I said, yeah. little shame, little bit of a little bit of release too, as well. It's been a while since I've fucking yeah got, got that upset with somebody. And, uh, well, that's good. You, uh, I'm glad to hear you. You said something to the guy for being a dickhead.
00:34:09
Speaker
Yeah, normally don't. I let a lot of things slide these days because, like, you know, I try to raise my son that way, too, right? Like, there's really no reason. There's a handful of them. That wasn't one of them, but, you know, for on that day. But, you know sometimes people got to get told what the fuck, you know?
00:34:26
Speaker
Yeah.
00:34:28
Speaker
But and then this weekend we're we're playing in a a tournament with our with with Jeff and in the the the club I'm in with ah them. So don't get any fights. you Yeah. No, this one's a two man scramble, dude. And I'm really excited. I hope him and I get to be on the same team. that would be really cool.
00:34:48
Speaker
I think we can we can take it. Good. Are we done the go segment? We're done with the golf segment. Oh, no. And then I ran into ah one of the guys, they were doing a fitting there and the tailor made people were there. So I ran up to that guy again and was like, Hey buddy, what's up? and he's like, dude, I checked out the podcast. And Bobby's like, you didn't talk a lot about golf. I'm like, well, it's a fucking knife making. I get a lot of shit for doing this, buddy. That's what was trying to tell you. But so again, man, the podcast is is bringing in all kinds of different people.
00:35:22
Speaker
then I bought some golf balls off some guy too. Yeah, he's listening to the podcast now. like the Golf has given us some some listen to extra listeners. Yeah.
00:35:34
Speaker
But the the Chicago Bean. So speaking of Jeff, you were talking about the Chicago Bean. Right. and um And I, again, this is one of a million things I've told you a

Chicago Bean and Conspiracy Theories

00:35:44
Speaker
thousand times. Jeff.
00:35:47
Speaker
jeff company what he does for yes i remember i remember this i told the boys that when we were there oh okay yeah i told him you didn't bring it up there and and i was just like i thought you it was you were aloof but no i i told the boys when we were there i like hey you know the guy that does butdada he helped build this thing yeah yeah no he he was like yeah they that's what they do he was spit shining it that thing don't even have you ever seen it I've seen all the other stuff. like That's one of the things like as ah as a result of of being able to do, I can't talk about that kind of stuff, but I have seen some fucking shit. That big-ass press I was telling you about, that's all all that shit is is eight by four sheets of stainless pressed out and grind. like it is It is absolutely...
00:36:34
Speaker
um Yeah, it was bigger than I thought it was going to be. The bean. When you said no seams, I'm like, yep, that's that's what they do. mean, that's all eight by four sheets of sheet metal.
00:36:45
Speaker
i Yeah, it's cool. It's really cool. so yeah All right, well, at least you know. Yeah, no, and I knew. I told the boys that when we were there. So good work, Jeff. yeah I was impressed. That's like his claim to fame there. That's like the most famous one that they've done.
00:37:01
Speaker
yeah and that's a good one it was fucking cold that day though so we didn't hang around all that long but uh yeah i had lots of people ask me like do they polish that thing every like how often do they polish that to keep it nice and shiny i have no idea yeah i'll tell you like i think that kind he the the finish that they go down to is like nasa is the only people that can get a finish yeah it's it's definitely like mirror mirror polish yeah that's the whole thing with that artwork that that i think the guy's name is anish kapoor i think is the artist's name but that's his whole thing is is metal work with with um reflection mirror illusion type things um and that's all sanded with giant belt grinders and it's it's fucking cool i wish i could say more about Well, speaking of that, I had my I had Kayla, my stepdaughter, um reach out to me and say, ask she she sent me some weird question. Like, did you hear did you hear the guy inside or something like obscure? Like she expected me to understand what she was saying. And apparently there's some conspiracy theory that there's a dead guy inside the bean in Chicago.
00:38:14
Speaker
Have you ever heard of this? I have not. No, I have not either. Yeah. That's where I should have put the dude this weekend. Put him in the bean. That's what I said to Kayla. Like, well, ask Jeff if there's anybody in the bean.
00:38:31
Speaker
Yeah, that's fucking funny. No, there's a whole webpage and a whole conspiracy thing on some dude dead in the bean.
00:38:41
Speaker
Huh. yeah Maybe he got caught flicking it.
00:38:47
Speaker
I can't believe you didn't flick the bean joke, dude. That's so bad. oh But if you want to get your knife to a finish like the bean, you got to go check out Maritime Knife Supply. Get all your abrasives, all your knife making steel, everything you need to put your build together. Lawrence has got you covered from, like I said, abrasives, metal. tooling, um machines, handle material, everything you need to get your knife started, processed, and finished. Maritime Lawrence Lake's got you covered.
00:39:26
Speaker
So go check them out at Maritime Knife Supply and tell them the boys at Triple T sent you. For sure. I just reached, I was just chatting with Lawrence the other day.
00:39:41
Speaker
Um, whoops Oh, so I had i had two, so and I have one student now, but I was teaching two classes in the last few days. I taught one Friday, Saturday, to a student who is, she's actually a Kali martial artist, the same Doug Markaita's martial art. Okay.
00:40:02
Speaker
And her desire is to make, um I'm trying to remember the name of the sword, a Kampilan, which is some... sword that they use in indonesia no in the philippines and uh so she wanted to come and try to make a knife to see you know how complicated would this be and i said you know nobody starts with swords and uh it was fun um and she had a good time and agreed that making a sword is probably a little beyond her skill level and she'll probably come to see me and we'll make it together but it was fun having another woman in the shop
00:40:42
Speaker
and uh again i'll say women and follow instructions better than men when it comes to showing them how to do things yes jared i'm looking at you no argument here um and uh devon who is here today and tomorrow uh is here for damascus class and um So I did a couple of pattern guides for classes, and one of them was the knots and crosses pattern, the one that came actually from Niels Vanderbilt.

Teaching Damascus Steel Class

00:41:13
Speaker
I wanted to do it in Imperial.
00:41:15
Speaker
And um so I wrote my own pattern guide for that pattern and um sent the guy, hey, here are all the pattern guides. Pick the one you want to do. And he picked that one. And I'd never actually taught it in a class before.
00:41:28
Speaker
So then I'm just looking at the steel I would need and It's like, man, and we're going to need a lot of steel for this pattern. um So I ended up telling them, hey, I have to upcharge you hundred bucks for the amount of steel. Anyway, the billet is massive.
00:41:45
Speaker
I probably had, we probably have enough steel to make like a fucking two-handed sword like it was massive and then i realized yeah we probably didn't need this much steel i think he's going to go home with enough steel for like four chef knives um but uh so far it's going really well and he's the guy that sent you the which is totally random i didn't realize this he told me this at almost the end of the day He's the guy that sent you the Manzanita.
00:42:12
Speaker
Yeah. So, yeah, that's cool. I thought he was from further away, but he's he's here in California, right? He's near Santa Rosa. Southern California? No, Santa Rosa. Oh, up north. Up north. Oh, okay.
00:42:24
Speaker
Where the Manzanita grows. Come on. Yeah, yeah. yeah Okay, makes sense. ah He's in... Oh, shit, he told me that... uh hope hope county hope anyway up there um like it's it's kind of in the middle of nowhere it's like i think it's like 45 minutes or an hour from santa rosa like northeast okay so it's kind of in the mountains up there all right so yeah yeah awesome but he did But he did really well, and I think the pattern is going to come out awesome.
00:42:54
Speaker
So we'll find out tomorrow. I'll make sure to stop by and say what's up tomorrow. Yeah, I didn't know if you were I figured that's your day to stay home. So that's why I was trying to get a hold of you today, and hopefully on the way home you could have stopped. but but Yeah, no, I go in in the morning on Tuesdays now, so I'll swing by around lunch. Oh, perfect. Yeah, do it.
00:43:12
Speaker
Cool. Cool. We did have an a death announcement this week.

Farewell and Future Plans

00:43:22
Speaker
ah The fire wait a minute okay all fire and steel podcast is no more. I fucking laughed when when fucking Rick tried to catch a sword, but he was going to giggle while someone died. I was going to be like, I can't support this. No, no.
00:43:41
Speaker
uh it sounds like the boys at the fire and steel podcast have decided to hang up the towel and call it quits and this the first thing i did is i sent toby a ah message i'm like is this another joke or are you guys really uh done and he said oh no we're done we're we're just hanging it up so uh yeah that's too bad but uh that's a bummer looking forward to uh having toby here uh after um Blade Show and you know maybe my co-host next week. We'll see.
00:44:15
Speaker
Jared's going to be mad. I told you. I just sent i just sent Toby a message in front of Dennis and I said, if you're if you're on one not that's a beauty you're on when I'm not here, it's going to be problems. It'll be the the end of two podcasts.
00:44:34
Speaker
ah Toby, you're dead. You'll be responsible for killing two podcasts, Toby. What the? Toby, don't listen to him. oh Oh, man. Yeah, that's a bummer. ah it's a They've been at it a long time, I think. Yeah, a long time. And I don't think many people understand the... I mean, it's not huge commitment, but it is, right?
00:45:01
Speaker
it's It's one of those things where it becomes a routine, but it becomes a pain. It becomes, you know, like it's a thing. And to have that kind of longevity and then to, you know, everything has it has ah has a season and runs its course. But, you know, hats off to to those guys for for doing it for as long as they have and making it for good as it long as it was. Yeah.
00:45:27
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, it's too bad. But who knows? Maybe they'll go on and decide they want to do something else. I don't know. Yeah, sure. But I did, speaking of, you know, you did your, we did the dumb thing with the VFD. I did a dumb thing this week. It was me.
00:45:46
Speaker
Ultimately. Yeah. Okay. I'm blaming you more than me. It was me. believe mother i I took a day for me to, to, to, to come to that decision. I was just trying to help you do dumb things, but. Yeah. Thank you.
00:46:02
Speaker
You're the first person I go to when I want do something dumb. But I did my own dumb thing this week. All by yourself. all Because I don't know about it. All by myself.
00:46:14
Speaker
I was done the dagger. Like, I'm doing the very last step. The Damascus came out amazing. I'm doing the very last step, but which is I've buffed all of the the guard and the spacer and the pommel, and I'm ready to do sir the hot salts, the blackening salts.
00:46:36
Speaker
And I'm all excited. i have a brand new batch of salts. Brand new batch. Like I just mixed them. And I turn it up and I crank up the heat and I'm waiting and whatever, and I'm waiting it for it to hit the... I have 80 in my head.
00:46:53
Speaker
Right? Meaning I'm, I'm for some reason, instead of 280, I've got 180 in my head. So as soon as it hits 180, I drop the parts in and I'm sitting there and I'm waiting, do, do, do, waiting my 10 minutes. And then I look at them like a minute later and they are like rust colored.
00:47:17
Speaker
I'm like, that's really weird. I don't ever remember them being rust colored. And I'm like, oh, that's really weird. And like now the the mixture is like a rust color.
00:47:29
Speaker
I'm like, that's like it's brown. And it's not usually that color, like a rusty brown color. I'm like, and then it dawns on me, I'm not supposed to put the parts in until 280 degrees.
00:47:41
Speaker
like fuck And you're eating it away? Well, and I'm like, fuck, okay. So I fucking ruin, you know, I ruin the finish on the parts. I take the parts out. I rebuff them. Everything's fine.
00:47:52
Speaker
um And then I put them in at 280 and I look at them like 30 seconds later. They are rust colored. So not only have I fucked up the parts, I have now contaminated and ruined my batch of salts, which is the last salt that I have on hand. So now I have to order it and pray that it comes in time for me to do these for Blade Texas, because this is one of the knives I'm supposed to bring. so I'm fucking pissed that I'm an idiot and didn't follow the rules of the instructions.
00:48:25
Speaker
For fuck's sake. Yeah, that was said a few times that day. so I can't be the only one that wanted to to to hear that you blew yourself up, right? i mean I mean, am I the only shitty person that was hoping there was a large explosion and you don't have tree anymore? Two big spots on my hand where I, on my arm, where I splashed hot salt on my arm.
00:48:50
Speaker
And they look really gross. Like they look like I have fucking cancer spots. But um yeah, it was not a good day. so the dagger is done except for the parts not being black i'll take it to blade if i have to it just looks weird right now because you can barely see the gold and because the parts are silver with gold.
00:49:12
Speaker
It just looks weird. So anyway, that was my dagger woes. But now I'm working on this this next piece that I'm trying to also finish that I also need the hot salts, that Persian-esque dagger um with the hollow grinds. So that one will be um hopefully another one I can get done this week.
00:49:35
Speaker
um But... In my class this week, I did, ah Marion did use the Two Bastards fat peen hammer as part of her forging exercise. if you guys need a hammer for any needs, you got to go check out Frank Anita over at Two Bastards Texas Smithian Supplies ah for all your hammer needs. Straight ones, crossed ones, diagonal ones, curvy ones, all of the peens. Because, Jared, why?
00:50:08
Speaker
And you make grand to have a fat peen in your hand. That is correct. um And today, i was we were talking a lot about the boys at Baker Forge, because I was going through all the Damascus in my drawer, we were looking at the the stainless Damascus, Devin and I today, and he was talking to about how how complicated is it to make stainless Damascus, and I told him,
00:50:35
Speaker
just honestly just go buy it from Baker Forge is like that that shoe is not worth the spit um the go buy it from Baker Forge it is a difficult process and this week never heard that what that shoe is not worth the spit I have never heard that um ah because this week Zeus stainless steel Damascus and riptide elite in Chevron are live now So go check those out at Baker Forge.
00:51:08
Speaker
um Also, in addition to the core line that are always available, you can also buy your any any amount of gator or piss that you need of any of the varieties. Get yourself some Grime Ripper and some gator skin, which I now coat all of my students' knives when they're done the course. They all get coated in gator skin.

00:51:58
Speaker
All the wives. That's right. Yeah. And our wives. Oh, really? Yeah. yeah Liz is going? Yeah. oh Oh, I didn't know that.
00:52:09
Speaker
yeah Or I didn't clue into that. Oh, wow. Oh, no, I don't know. they I don't know if she's going to make the show, but she'll be there like Saturday evening, I think. Oh, actually, no he did he did say he did say so that she was going to be there Saturday. but Yeah, that's cool.
00:52:26
Speaker
Now I feel bad I'm not taking my wife. She'd hate it. Yep. not me not one bitch she was not that's not her thing she's like get out of here uh my wife is going she's doing her disney thing this week so it's fine that i'm doing my own thing uh in a couple of weeks but but that's that that's next week right that is next week next week man that's close i don't know if i'm gonna finish that other knife but i'm gonna try real hard the rest of this weekend this weekend
00:53:01
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to take a miracle, but I got see if I can squeak something out, too. But I'm not hanging my hat on all that hope. But you know what I am excited for? This week... um Matt over at Grip Tech Composites, IG Grip Tech official, maker of Grip X, Grip X 3D, the Limitless style, um has the, um I guess it's one more couple months into it, but you got to sign up for the newsletter so you can get um the special discount code for the featured build of the week.

00:54:30
Speaker
I'm going to keep you all in suspense. Yeah. You've been doing really good at the suspense every week. Custom is way. I'm surprised I haven't blew it. yeah Yeah. You do that plenty. Don't worry. Oh, and and and you know, didn't know this.
00:54:47
Speaker
No, it's not blue. um Devin, the just so you know, Devin, the guy that sent you the manzarita, I want you to know this is very important. He's Canadian and he's from very close to the same place I'm from.
00:55:03
Speaker
You didn't know that, did you?
00:55:10
Speaker
That's Devin falling from the spot he was at. Nope.
00:55:17
Speaker
uh yeah we am just it's an invasion invasion damn invasion yeah we had we had a lot of great talks today about uh canada and moving moving to california from canada we he did it a year after i did you know same kind of story going on a visa it was uh guelph must be horrible he knew he he knows where guelph is so um yeah All right. that's fun that's one way to make somebody less cool. Thanks. I won't hold it too much against you, Devin. It's all good.
00:55:53

I'm already making plans into June after Blade Show. So... We got Toby coming after Blade Show, and then I think two weeks after that, I'm gonna have Mr. Noah, Noah Bloomberg from the Antiat River Forge and the Hustle and Grind podcast come down the same time that Jaden, Fox River Blades, um is gonna come down um for a folder class.
00:56:22
Speaker
so what So that'll be fun. Jaden was on Hustle and Grind last week, And talking about, they mentioned that, oh, yeah, you're interested in folders. And Noah said, yeah, I'd like to take it. I'm like, come on, get your asses down here and let's do a folder class.
00:56:37
Speaker
So they're going to come down together. but It's a big class. Have you done one yet? This would be the first? ah No, I haven't done one since you and Brent. But i think Toby is going to be before that. So him and his son are going to be building folders before that.
00:56:52
Speaker
that's right But it'll be interesting because if you don't know Jaden from Fox River Blades, he's the the young man that got in an accident and is in a wheelchair. So I'm going to have to build some affordances in the shop. So I'm looking at this like kind of like a challenge. I'm going to have to.
00:57:12
Speaker
make some things and I'll probably make a new little table that I'm going to put the mill on so that, um, he's going to be able to work and he's going to be able to do the class because my mill is on a pedestal stand. So it's pretty high. No one in a wheelchair would ever be able to use it. So, um, so yeah, that's going to be cool. And I'm going to enlist, uh, Mr. Jared here to help me move the mill. And, uh, yeah, so I think it's going to be fun having those guys in the shop. Uh, it'll be, uh, hanging with a couple of buddies and making some folders. So it should be fun. Oh, that's cool. That's exciting news.
00:57:46
Speaker
Yeah. We haven't finalized the dates yet. I think it's going to be around the 22nd of June around there. Hey, but I will not be there that day. Why is that your birthday or something? That's my wedding anniversary. Oh, she put up with you that long, man.
00:58:02
Speaker
This'll be, I think 25 Wow. Wow. wow Yeah, I think so. Yeah, it'll be 25. Wow. She should get a medal. No, 24. 24, sorry. You should know that. Come on.
00:58:18
Speaker
You're lucky she doesn't listen to this or you'd be in trouble. What? You're looking it up, aren't you? Me? No. Liar. Well, while you're looking up how long you've actually been married and which anniversary this is, I'm going to... It's 24. I knew it was 24. Sounds like you knew.
00:58:37
Speaker
I'm going to top um but talk about the drop point. um I actually have two knives to put up on the drop point because I finished one in the class. And I actually found, i think I said this last week, I found one behind my granite surface plate that I finished.
00:58:52
Speaker
So I got a couple of knives I'm going to put up on the drop point. Because, hey, it is for free and it is a yeah newsletter that goes out to not just to makers, but to buyers, to people that are buying knives. So it'll connect makers directly to those serious collectors.
00:59:12
Speaker
no No social media, no throttling, no shadow bans, no guessing who's going to see your posts. Get them up on the Drop Point. Go to thedroppoint.com and... not only subscribe to the newsletter, but check out what else is up there. Maybe you want to buy a knife.
00:59:29
Speaker
And it's from the minds and of the guys at Skiff Workshop, making the finest hardware for folders. So yeah, go check out the Drawpoint and see if you love it.
00:59:41
Speaker
yeah but before you get the opportunity to post up on the drop point you got to finish those knives with uh some pelican paste go check out travis haynes at pelicanpace.com maker of the most awesomest premium wax around he's got hard wax soft wax pelican oil hand solve and soap and the butternut cast iron seasoning um I want to say I saw something where he's working on something else, but I got to dig into that a little thing. But you know Travis is always up to something, always expanding the the line of Pelican paste. So go load up your cart and use the discount code TTT10 for 10% off your next purchase there.
01:00:21
Speaker
And prior to that, you got to heat treat it. So what are you going to use? You got to use an even heat. All the cool people do. Yes. Even heat kilns family owned and operated since 1948 building the highest quality knife heat treat ovens available.
01:00:38
Speaker
Spencer and the crew. You got any questions? Give them a shout. They'll take care of you. Super knowledgeable. Another, all of our sponsors have great customer service. Like the best, the top of the line, any questions, anything. Now they probably don't have anything going wrong with the, the ovens. Cause I haven't had anything with any of mine. But if something was to happen, you know,
01:01:01
Speaker
small thing go out they'll uh troubleshoot you take care of you get get it out to you um even heat kilns uh for the most awesomest heat treating kilns around that's right all right man let's do some maker spotlights and uh get the hell out of here sure what you got I'll go first. And i'm I'm sort of embarrassed that I didn't, I wasn't following this person and just was not on my radar.
01:01:34
Speaker

01:01:53
Speaker
But anyway, Anger Knives, A-N-G-E-R-K-N-I-V-S, 109,000 followers and just does some amazing Damascus. um you know really really cool stuff um and i would say it's very it's very different than the damascus i make or many people make a lot of it is It's like very striking, high contrast, lower layer, but really, really cool stuff.
01:02:24
Speaker
um And like I said, I'm kind of embarrassed that this person was not on my radar. So yeah, go check out Nick at Anger Knives. And yeah, if you're not one of those 109,000, then- I was gonna say, you're the only one. That's cool.
01:02:44
Speaker
yeah it's It's on my radar now. I'm i'm sorry, Nick. I'm a dumbass and I was not following you. This might be this might take the cake. yeah It says now that you and Maritime and 365 other followers follow. ah Mutual, I should say.
01:03:02
Speaker

01:04:13
Speaker
like what am i missing Like the guy, the guy fucking invented Instagram. He's been on here so long. Um, but, uh, who do you have?
01:04:25
Speaker
Oh my God. Anyways, I just got irritated looking at something. Um, I have probably the coolest thing I've ever seen. i mean, today for me anyways, um,
01:04:38
Speaker
I got a message from from Matt um from Grip Tech Composites, and he tagged this guy. So I have two T-W-O underscore talents underscore on Instagram.
01:04:57

And if you're if you're looking at the page right now, it's one, two, three, four, the top left, down one. Click that thing, Dennis. the the but What am I? let my grow that No, no, which which account? What am I looking at? Which account?

01:07:38
Speaker
But yeah, huge. I'm just all goo-goo-ga-ga over this thing. lot of really awesome stuff. Yeah. as I started the the golf journey through here in the makers, is like this is i was sure no one was doing this, but this guy has definitely made his mark here. We're talking about putters and stuff too as well. Are his two talents and knives in golfing? Is that why you like this guy? I don't know if he golfs or not. i have no idea. But two talents would be knife making and golf things. So, yeah, but he's got 11,000.1 followers. Go check him out. That's two underscore talents underscore. Don't go to the Asian family.

01:09:39
Speaker
Hey, how long are we at? What are we at? I got a question for you. So we were doing this. I was watching something came up, probably YouTube Shorts. YouTube Shorts right now? i don't I'm not doing a lot of social media as far as Facebook or Instagram, but I do watch ah shits on YouTube, of all kinds of dumb shit.
01:10:02
Speaker
And but the Shorts are... those the only thing nowadays that sucked me into the desk roll. Like the content from shorts on YouTube is fricking awesome. When you get your algorithm shit down, it locks you in. Like I haven't been debt sucked in it's it's it's google algorithm it's one of the better ones oh man it is it is damn near yeah it's really cool so a lot of the ones i get are that that people are using the the joe rogan clip like have you seen this clip here pull this one up jamie and then they just do some random clips right so i get sucked into all all these things but one time was talking about the difference between one million and one billion
01:10:48
Speaker
like how much like the distance between the two values are like, and like if you're a millionaire or you're a billionaire, like how much more. oh yeah. So, and they said, let me explain it to you this way.
01:11:02
Speaker
Do you know how many days, 1 million seconds is?
01:11:08
Speaker
Uh, I can do some quick math, but in my head, no, like just take a guess. A million seconds, 60, I don't know. Like,
01:11:21
Speaker
Two years? Three years? 11 days. Is that it? 11 days. Do you know how many days 1 billion seconds is? 31 years. thirty one years And when I started thinking about like, if you're a millionaire or a billionaire, like, there's only a handful of billionaires the world, but like, they're talking about like money, like how much, how that in the, in the term of time, dude, that just fucking blew my mind. Like 11 days versus 31 years. Like if you,
01:11:53
Speaker
That doesn't sound right. Why does that not sound right? Because you didn't think of it? No. Let's see. 60 seconds times...
01:12:08
Speaker
60 equals times 24. Just say, wow, I didn't know that was that much distance. Wow, Jared, that's it. I'll never be a billionaire.
01:12:20
Speaker
How many minutes are in? a No, I'm going to fucking do it now. 24 times 60 times 60. twenty four times sixty equals times sixty
01:12:38
Speaker
Yeah, it's more like 12 days, but would you say? It's 11 and a half. It's 11 and a half. I said 11, and it's 31 and a half years. but Okay, yeah, I'm with you. You're right. yeah yeah yeahp I just thought that was million yeah yeah fine i thought that was mind-boggling. like Yeah, I don't know.
01:12:58
Speaker
I thought it was interesting, so thought I'd bring it up on a show. I talked about nothing. Okay. Okay. Mr. fucking rusty fittings. That was riveting.
01:13:11
Speaker
Hey, that was important. It means don't fuck up your hot salts or you're buying new ones and wrecking your parts. Yeah. You're fucking slowing your... Not again. Yeah.
01:13:22
Speaker
That's how I felt actually after cleaning them the second time and still messing it up. That's great. Okay. All right.
01:13:31
Speaker
Good times. Yeah. Well, I've had enough of you. Yeah. All right, folks. We will see you next time. We'll see you in ah in a million seconds.
01:13:45
Speaker
We don't get to see Jared next week, which I'm very happy about. I'm going to replace his ass. I'm going to be there. All right. Can't wait. You're going to tell your wherever you're going that you gotta to you have to step out for an hour. I will.
01:14:04
Speaker
All right. Good. You son of a bitch. Jeez, Dennis. All right, we're out.
01:14:15
Speaker
Hold on. Let me get out my calculator.
01:14:28
Speaker
by one. Carry the two. Are you in menstruating right now? That's a wrap.
