Denis Tyrell: Thank you.
echo_blades: What is happening, everybody? Welcome to another Triple T podcast for Knife Makers. This is the day before the day we leave for Blade Show, and we are fired up.
echo_blades: Dennis is tired of talking about Blade Show, but am Jared from Echo Blades.
Denis Tyrell: I didn't say I was tired. I just said I feel like we've had three shows on it already.
echo_blades: This is... Well,
Denis Tyrell: but
echo_blades: didn't. That's for sure.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, Jared pushed out last week, so we had to replace him.
echo_blades: fuck that i was i was deathly ill but uh yeah i'm jared from echo blades uh here with me as always is my super homie and partner mr dennis ty rail um from ty rail not works dude tell me this when people come up to you because this is inevitably going to happen
Denis Tyrell: and call me Tyrell.
echo_blades: okay it is my my It is my favorite fucking thing is to watch you want to slap somebody when they come up to you. And you're not really wanting to slap them, but you're just like, that's not my fucking name.
echo_blades: That's not my name. My name is not Tyrell.
Denis Tyrell: Well, it's my last name.
echo_blades: Hey, Tyrell, I just absolutely love what you do. Your channel has inspired me and made me just so, so, I tell you. Oh my God, it is the fucking best.
Denis Tyrell: i want i want to take them by the shoulders and like, if i my name was John, would I call it John Knifeworks? No. So why do you think i would use my first name?
echo_blades: That's fucking great. But yeah, um i have a very good talent of not allowing myself to get excited prematurely in well, in most other areas, except the important one, but yeah.
Denis Tyrell: We're like, what?
echo_blades: Yeah. Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: That is a total lie. That is a bald-faced lie. You get excited about everything beforehand.
echo_blades: No.
echo_blades: I don't know if you're super loud or if it's me. I'm going turn you down just a little bit in my head. um Beforehand, yes. But leading up to it, my life is like a series of milestones that I look forward to to get me through all of the crap.
Denis Tyrell: Uh-huh.
echo_blades: And if I was to get too excited and...
echo_blades: I want to say it, but I don't want to say it though.
Denis Tyrell: I'm
echo_blades: So I feel like I'm just trying to, to filter myself here, get excited too early. Then, uh, yeah, it won't, uh,
Denis Tyrell: between the lines. Okay.
echo_blades: it won't, uh, it won't do the justice.
Denis Tyrell: i'm between the lines
echo_blades: It won't feel as good. You know what I'm saying? Like it'd be ruined. No, this is a family show. Yeah. But ah so now I'm, I am now one. what Yeah. I said it's the day before the day before we leave. So I'm getting fired up.
echo_blades: I'm getting in the, in the mode.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, me too.
echo_blades: So.
Denis Tyrell: I'm excited. I'm excited. But it was my anniversary weekend and, um, spent the weekend in Monterey and, uh, it was great. It was great to unplug, not think about knives for the weekend. Uh, I mean, I say the weekend we left Sunday morning, we did an overnight and we're recording Monday. So we came back today, but, um, it was really good. The weather was perfect.
Denis Tyrell: Um, it It was nice to step away right before Blade Show and not think about it and be ready to go.
echo_blades: Yeah, that's gotta be cool.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: um I love that place. And there, there was the very large chance that we were going to look into buying in that area, but I just, my, yeah, I just, my, my, our career, our jobs and stuff, it just would, it it wouldn't work out, but love the area.
Denis Tyrell: i a
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. We look every time we go.
echo_blades: It's beautiful. The weather's perfect for me.
Denis Tyrell: It is, Monterey is my, probably my favorite city in California.
echo_blades: Um,
Denis Tyrell: Like, and I spent a lot of lot of time here from there, rather from diving and just, I just love Monterey.
echo_blades: Yeah, I get teased a lot.
echo_blades: Yeah, same.
Denis Tyrell: But we, we did, I know you're not a fan, but we, as soon as we got there, Kim wanted to go to, they have a brunch, a Sunday brunch at El Torito's. So we did this.
echo_blades: I... It's not that I'm not a fan. It's just a very old played out restaurant and there's not many of them left. And historically it's super white Mexican food.
Denis Tyrell: Right. And I, I totally agree with you, but as a brunch place, it was all you can drink mimosas.
Denis Tyrell: Uh, and the brunch was amazing. And the, okay. I am a sucker for that. What is it? Tomolito, the, the corn, the sweet corn stuff.
Denis Tyrell: You know, they usually put a tiny little scoop on the end of your p plate. You know what I'm talking about? It's like, it's like the sweet corn masa stuff.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Um,
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: You look at me confused. do You know what I'm talking about. Oh,
echo_blades: I just don't know anybody that actually like has a thing for it.
Denis Tyrell: we both love it. So I'm like putting it on my plate with like a, you know, it's supposed to be like a little melon scooper. I'm using like a fucking soup ladle. probably ate... i probably ate
echo_blades: it's oatmeal
Denis Tyrell: i from
echo_blades: This yellow oatmeal is real good, honey.
Denis Tyrell: yeah I think I heard a guy say that. um
echo_blades: yeah
Denis Tyrell: ah It was, I probably ate a pound of it. um And but though would they had like a crepe station.
echo_blades: lord Smokey, you been eating corn?
Denis Tyrell: What?
echo_blades: Smokey, you been eating corn?
Denis Tyrell: I don't get that reference.
echo_blades: Yeah, you don't. a
Denis Tyrell: Anyway, it was delicious.
echo_blades: oh
Denis Tyrell: We had a really nice breakfast.
echo_blades: You've never seen Friday.
Denis Tyrell: friday the day of the week never heard of it
echo_blades: Yeah, you've never seen... No, the movie, Friday.
echo_blades: my God. You're kicked out the head, for sure. You're not allowed back, either. But, okay.
Denis Tyrell: no yeah but uh then i i was soulful after we left there but um yeah we left there we walked around we did the we walked all the way to like into pacific grove and back and
echo_blades: Anyways.
echo_blades: Pacific Grove is the shit.
Denis Tyrell: Yes, it is the most beautiful place ever, except maybe Italy, but Asilomar?
echo_blades: Yeah. That's a Lamar beach. Is that what it's called? That's similar. That's a Lamar. Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Asilomar is like way over by like Spanish Bay, way over there.
echo_blades: It's just around the corner. I used to run that beach all the time.
Denis Tyrell: nuts Not Spanish Bay, um the the golf course. Like it's it's by the point. It's further than the point, Asilomar.
echo_blades: Yeah. it's Yeah. Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: I'm familiar.
Denis Tyrell: You're saying like it's close. It's not. That's a really long walk from Canary Row.
echo_blades: A hundred percent. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I ran that when I did the half marathon there. I know how far it is.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. But if you've if you're coming to monterey and i'm sorry if you're coming to California, Northern California, Monterey is a very good stop.
echo_blades: Yeah, if you were going to come,
Denis Tyrell: I contemplated bringing in Toby there, but ah Toby and Leland.
echo_blades: I don't, I would 100%, I would, I would that. Yeah. i would do that harbe
Denis Tyrell: But yeah, I don't know.
echo_blades: Yeah, if you come visit us and you don't like to be nice, we're going to go to Monterey for sure.
Denis Tyrell: we get We got to see one day.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. Yeah. Um, but yeah, when we had dinner at the C restaurant, which is in the intercontinental, um, that was really good. You know, pricey small plates kind of thing, but, uh, it was good.
echo_blades: At least you didn't do a bed and breakfast and then, you know, have some old guy ask you why you didn't put the forks out.
Denis Tyrell: Uh,
Denis Tyrell: Well, I don't think I would have that problem.
echo_blades: and You might ask somebody. Have I told that story here? ah um it's On the show?
Denis Tyrell: Many times. like you have yes you you tell you told me like a month ago.
echo_blades: Okay. okay No.
Denis Tyrell: You did. You did.
echo_blades: Oh, it's traumatizing.
Denis Tyrell: But yeah, it was a good time. But we got back today at like 1.00. And i I contemplated, maybe I'll go into the shop and like sharpen all the knives that I have to do So I'll save time tomorrow. And I thought, no, it was such a nice day.
Denis Tyrell: We just had a pool day and hung out by the pool all day. And yeah.
echo_blades: Cool. I'll drop my knife off tomorrow on the way into work.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, bullshit. You will.
echo_blades: Come on.
Denis Tyrell: You are sharpening that fuck yourself.
echo_blades: Help a bro.
Denis Tyrell: You got two days.
echo_blades: yeah I have zero days now.
Denis Tyrell: Get her done. No. Today's Monday. Tomorrow's Tuesday and Wednesday.
echo_blades: No.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, you got to.
echo_blades: They're fully spoken.
Denis Tyrell: They're wet.
echo_blades: They're fully spoken for.
Denis Tyrell: Okay.
echo_blades: The day is left until we leave. Okay. Anyways. Um,
Denis Tyrell: You're doing it, not me. I got enough to sharpen.
echo_blades: i don't need I don't need you to.
Denis Tyrell: Okay, good.
echo_blades: But it's nice to have a personal sharpener.
Denis Tyrell: who
echo_blades: Are you drinking water?
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, is that all right? It's on here.
echo_blades: That's not, yeah. Oh, okay. i' just crate the dogs. Good night. All right, my love. Will do.
Denis Tyrell: But yeah, it was a good time. I'm glad we got out and now that makes me even more ready for the show. And um yeah. Oh, big news.
Denis Tyrell: I know you know this already, but officially Parker is coming. Got his plane tickets. um He's coming to Atlanta. He'll be there late Thursday. Like, he'll probably be like, we'll be in bed.
Denis Tyrell: Maybe. It'll be like 1230 earliest by the time he gets to the hotel. So probably closer to 1 a.m. on Thursday. so But um I'm glad. i'm super happy he's coming. And then he's headed back to California with us.
Denis Tyrell: Uh, until the 13th.
echo_blades: Nice. Very cool.
Denis Tyrell: So yeah, he'll hang with us most of the week, I imagine. So yeah, I'm excited about that.
echo_blades: That is really cool.
Denis Tyrell: But yeah, yeah, he's betweenly between schools right now. So he'll start his his a school, I think on the 14th, the day after um he leaves.
Denis Tyrell: He'll, uh, no, 14th. fourteenth No, 15th, because 14th is a Sunday. So, yeah, he'll be headed out. So, yeah. But all I have to do for Blade Show is sharpen knives. That's it. I plan on, I got about six to sharpen tomorrow.
Denis Tyrell: Six, one, two, three, four, seven.
echo_blades: Seven. Eight.
Denis Tyrell: What's that?
echo_blades: Oh, yeah.
Denis Tyrell: No.
echo_blades: No.
Denis Tyrell: Seven sharpened knives.
echo_blades: He's so serious.
Denis Tyrell: And then I'm done.
echo_blades: ah
Denis Tyrell: And then I'm going to clean the shop um just so it's nice and clean for for Toby and Leland. And not for you.
echo_blades: Okay. All right. Okay. Permission granted. or Permission granted.
Denis Tyrell: And yeah, and then Wednesday I'm going to, I got grass cut and some other shit to do so I don't have to do it when they're here.
echo_blades: All right.
Denis Tyrell: So yeah, knives are done. not i you know, I could push it and do one more that I have, like I have to hand sand and do a handle for, but I'm just not that enthused to get that one done.
Denis Tyrell: So it'll go on the website later.
echo_blades: Yeah. Cool. Super pumped to see our buddy Lawrence Lake from Maritime Knife Supply.
Denis Tyrell: yeah
echo_blades: The ultimate place to get everything you need for knife making from abrasives, steel, hand of material tools, folder parts, you name it.
echo_blades: He's got it. Go check him out. Um, kind of bummed out though. He, uh, every now and again, he'll be like, Oh, something's coming to you. and he did that to me.
echo_blades: And he's like, but I need you to bring it to be blade. And I was like, okay. So like, I think yesterday or the day before I hit him up, I'm like, it, is this shit ever going to get here? Cause like it ain't here. And he's like, Oh man. Uh, so he didn't even tell me what it was, but it was supposedly something for, for the show and, and for him.
echo_blades: Uh, but it's not going to be here before we leave.
Denis Tyrell: heavy oh that sucks
echo_blades: So yeah, I don't know what, what the deal is, but yeah, i was kind of bummed about that. So I'm sure it'll be super cool when we get back, but yeah, go check out Lawrence Lake maritime nice supply.
echo_blades: And, uh, yeah.
Denis Tyrell: yeah yeah me too all our sponsors or most of our sponsors are going to be there this year
echo_blades: Excited to see you all the peeps, all the peeps.
Denis Tyrell: including Frank and Nita from Two Bastards.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: If you guys need a hammer, go check out Frank. I'm sure he'll be walking around. He'll be the the dapper gentleman walking around, probably with a hammer in his waist.
Denis Tyrell: um But if you need a hammer, go check out Two Bastards Texas Smithian Supplies ah for all your hammer needs, whether they're straight, cross, curvy, crisscross, you name it. He'll get you a fat peen.
Denis Tyrell: he He will make you.
echo_blades: He'll give you the fat penis. You
Denis Tyrell: He'll give you the fat.
Denis Tyrell: Because why, Jared?
echo_blades: you might have to buy the fat penis. Yeah. But because his shirt is grand to have one of them fat peens in your hand for sure.
Denis Tyrell: ah yeah You know, this year, um i think I've never heard of it before.
echo_blades: Oh,
Denis Tyrell: So i'm assuming it's the first year that they're doing the arts in metal show. That is the day before. I think it's Wednesday, Thursday, if I'm not mistaken.
Denis Tyrell: Have you heard of this? The Arts and Metal Show?
echo_blades: Nope, no clue.
Denis Tyrell: No. Oh.
echo_blades: Nope, no clue.
Denis Tyrell: um Arts and Metal Show 2026.
Denis Tyrell: um Oh, no. It takes place on June 4th, which is, that's Thursday, yeah. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oh, it's Thursday night. I didn't know that.
Denis Tyrell: I thought it was during the day. Yeah, it's at the Waverly. Um, the admission is $250 though.
echo_blades: Will not be there.
Denis Tyrell: I'd love to go, uh, that's a little pricey and those are for collector passes. so I guess they're really catering and focusing this on knife collectors.
Denis Tyrell: Um, and this is an invite only, I know, um, uh, Jean-Pierre Pauvin, he, cause I, that's what I keep seeing his, that he'll be at the, uh, arts and, and metal show, um, at the Waverly.
Denis Tyrell: But that's an interesting thing. If you're looking to do something Thursday night from six to 10, um, yeah, you can check that out. So yeah, it looks like there'll be some, yeah it kind of reminds me of, um,
Denis Tyrell: the, um, uh, the art knife invitational. It seems very similar to that. The one in, uh, in Vegas, obviously this is a much shorter show from six to 10, but, um, yeah, uh, access to knife maker lotteries and food and drinks.
Denis Tyrell: I'm sure food and drinks are included. Um, yeah, check it out, but,
echo_blades: I'm checking out the exhibitor.
Denis Tyrell: Anything else you're dying to see at the show?
echo_blades: I haven't really, uh, actually i got super pumped. I saw a couple of random, um, things pop up in my feed about some new Spyderco folder drops and my beginner folder nerd fucking vibes went out.
Denis Tyrell: No, yeah.
echo_blades: I think I was texting Brent like, dude, did you see this? and of course he did and um yeah so i was uh surprised to be pumped about that um for whatever reason because i haven't wanted or looked at ah like a production folder in a long time but making some pretty cool ones um but yeah i i mean just the the standard cast and um
echo_blades: Coming soon, coming soon. Yeah, I don't know that arts and metal show. i I had to put my phone away because I was looking at all the people that were going to be there. um But yeah, I don't know.
echo_blades: I'll have to take a look at the the whole list. Can you tell her to keep it down?
echo_blades: Jeez.
Denis Tyrell: They're in the next room. I'm surprised we can hear that.
echo_blades: Yeah. I'm clear. um Yeah. I don't know what i was saying.
Denis Tyrell: yeah Who are you going to see at at the show?
echo_blades: don't know.
echo_blades: Oh yeah. Nobody's coming to my mind right now. Just the standard standard cast.
Denis Tyrell: No?
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: No, I mean, there's a bunch. Yeah, same same with me. I mean, there's not like, oh, I definitely want to see so-and-so this year that it's like I haven't seen any other year, but... Um, you know, last year i had a list of like things I wanted to hit, but I haven't, uh, I didn't create that this year, but at least, we're going to have another person at the table. So, uh, that's nice that we, uh, we have Parker at the table so we can, uh, take off a little more.
echo_blades: that is cool.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. So also, I know Baker Forge has got a double um ah booth booth this year. So why if you guys need some premium...
Denis Tyrell: ah
echo_blades: They got some double B's up in there.
Denis Tyrell: i
Denis Tyrell: If you guys need some premium steel, go check them out. I'm sure they're going to have some some of that beautiful copper and bronze and all the other fancy mys, as well as probably some stainless some stainless Damascus as well.
Denis Tyrell: So go check them out at the show. If you can't be at the show, check them out at bakerforge.com. and use the discount code triple t10 while you're there you can look up all the gator piss products the grime reaper and the gator skin which i'm hoping to get some more of at the show because i'm out but um yeah check them out at the show and uh tell the boys at triple t said hi i'm sure we'll be hanging with mr coy a little bit while we're there
echo_blades: and Try to use that discount code. Try to use that discount code. Try to use that discount code. Try to use that discount code. Get turned away or get accepted. I don't know. ah Yeah, no, it's already heavily. done Yes, of course you get it. I'm so excited to hear that story.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. So should be phone show. I'm, I'm super excited and I'm really glad we're in the Waverly again and, uh, we don't have to walk anywhere.
echo_blades: Dude, that's that is a highlight.
Denis Tyrell: Have, uh, I'm gonna, uh,
Denis Tyrell: look up Atlanta weather. Um,
echo_blades: I have not done that.
Denis Tyrell: yeah. So it's, uh, it's not bad. Saturday, Sunday, be 85. Uh, 80, 85 and 80. So Friday, Friday, Saturday, 85 degrees.
Denis Tyrell: It's supposed to rain on Sunday, but Thursday, Friday, yeah. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, all high ah mid eighties. And then it drops to 80 on Sunday. So not crazy.
Denis Tyrell: Humidity, 86% right now. So, uh, but it's raining there, uh, tomorrow. So, but, uh, we're not used to that humidity.
echo_blades: Yeah, that's for sure.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, but that's all right. So that'll be like probably mid seventies when we're outside hanging out at night. So that's pretty good. That's doable. It's not, uh, you know, 4,000 degrees like, uh, the surface of the sun, but, um, yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Jared, what are you looking at?
echo_blades: Weather. 83%. Boo.
echo_blades: whoo
echo_blades: Oh, no, I'm good. All right.
Denis Tyrell: Could be worse. Could be worse.
echo_blades: No, no, it's good. It's good. I don't even have to go outside. That's the cool thing. I don't have to walk anywhere. I stay inside the building all day long.
Denis Tyrell: Brent and I were talking about dinner um Thursday. like We might just door dash it or something. i really i' The less we have to leave, the better, I think. I'm just not...
Denis Tyrell: You know, going out and getting dinner at Blade Show is such a pain in the ass because there's so many people around there that it would be nice just to order something. Not Thursday, Friday.
echo_blades: Yeah, I think we got to go to... Yeah. And Saturday. We got all kinds of fucking dinners to eat. I'm fucking stoked.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, Friday, Saturday is the, yeah both of them. So we'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. Got to make sure that boy is fed, you know. he's Parker eats like a like a horse now. so But how was your week other than being sick?
echo_blades: My ye man dude, that was rough. That was rough. I left um on whenever that was. It feels like it was a long time ago now because I've already recovered. But I think the Wednesday after the last show I did.
echo_blades: I got up and anyway, I spent like six hours driving. Had to drive from here to the office to Half Moon Bay. Had a meeting and then from Half Moon Bay to Sacramento to catch a flight to LA.
echo_blades: Went to LA, which... Or Huntington Beach, anyways. um Drove around all day the next day. Worked. I actually went to an A's game and at the Anaheim Stadium.
echo_blades: the The A's were playing the Angels, which was pretty cool because I ain't given...
Denis Tyrell: Oh, yeah.
echo_blades: John Fisher, any of my money ever again. So it was kind of cool to see them, um, and, go to a stadium that I haven't been to. Um, so that was pretty cool. Um, and then yeah, I flew back Friday night, Saturday, i golfed and then I had a half a day in the shop.
echo_blades: And then that night I woke, uh, as I was going to sleep, it was, it was KO and I spent Sunday, monday
echo_blades: yeah, no well, yeah, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, fucking basically down, um, sleeping pretty much the entire time, so that was pretty shitty, man, but that, that yeah, that put a big damper on what I was hoping to, hoping to do, but, um, for, for making anyways, um, but it was cool, I got a lot of rest, which is the only way that I get that, um, normally is when, when I get sick like that, otherwise I'm,
echo_blades: pretty much burning the candle on both ends all the time. So, um, feel rejuvenated and, uh, all that good stuff. Um, I am not a fan of SoCal.
Denis Tyrell: Good.
echo_blades: I know I've said that many times, but and it is, it's just, well, I mean, then I got the fricking SoCal fricking him, but, um, yeah, it's just,
Denis Tyrell: What happened this time?
echo_blades: It's just different, man. I'm just from the Bay. I'm just this. i'm I'm just this is this is what I like. The weather is beautiful, though. I will. I will say that weather was fucking perfect. It was like 75, 78.
echo_blades: But yeah, the whole vibe down there is just not not me. It's not absolutely horrible, but it's pretty gross. It's it's pretty gross.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, yeah. I'm agreeing with you.
echo_blades: Yeah. I mean, because i mean it's it's not, yeah but it's bad.
Denis Tyrell: It's... a
echo_blades: like It's just not my my deal. I would never live there. That's just hands down. um I'm glad I'm from...
Denis Tyrell: Maybe Orange County, but not...
echo_blades: Even there.
Denis Tyrell: and San Diego's all right, Orange.
echo_blades: Newport Beach is nice. No, San Diego is a different animal.
Denis Tyrell: Well, I mean, when you say Southern California to lay people, they're still going to think San Diego is part of Southern California.
echo_blades: I don't even think they know it's even more. So San Diego is like Mexico. Damn near. But yeah. ah Yeah. So that' that's that's that. um And then came back and lot of stuff going on at work. It's just, been it's been, it's been a lot.
echo_blades: We're remodeling the office. um And that happened Thursday. We had to move. the, that room into a smaller room and they, to, um, have some it t work get done. And then today we had people put it in cubicles.
echo_blades: Um, and tomorrow I get to go back and put my fucking office together and try to get ready. And all the while I'm trying to prepare to leave for a pretty long stint. So it's, there's a lot.
echo_blades: Um, but, and then,
echo_blades: I have the amazing, um i mean, you yeah i I was listening to you talk about how excited you are to see Parker.
Denis Tyrell: Mm-hmm.
echo_blades: Right. And, um, the, uh, and my son is here. Right. And, but anyways, he, he graduates high school tomorrow and, um i am so filled with pride.
echo_blades: Like I'm, I'm kind of tearing up. Like I, I can't even explain it. Like I'm trying, I have not allowed myself to even go down the road yet to kind of think about that.
Denis Tyrell: you
echo_blades: Um, but yeah how, how proud I am of him and, um, like the work that he's done, you know, cause he's, uh, he's very much like his dad.
echo_blades: School wasn't easy for him. Not a dumb, dumb at all. Sharp kid, uh, just school and all that stuff. But to have him, you know, take the, the paths that he had to take and to do what he has to do. And to finally, uh, see the, you know, the, the goal achieved at the end of the road, I am extremely looking forward to tomorrow, um, to celebrate him and, uh,
echo_blades: you know I love you, son. I am extremely proud of you. And i'm I'm very excited and so pumped up for him to do whatever the hell he he's going to do. um Because,
Denis Tyrell: That's awesome.
echo_blades: yeah, it's it's ah yeah hard. I don't even want to talk about it anymore. Yeah. But because, yeah, i he's he's a special, special kid.
Denis Tyrell: I
echo_blades: And, you know, it's still it's that it's he's the youngest. This is this marks.
Denis Tyrell: was going say he's the last one.
echo_blades: Yeah, this marks the end of ah of that chapter in our lives, you know.
Denis Tyrell: Okay.
echo_blades: um it's kind of hard to for me anyways to to think about it because i have two two older daughters um and uh you know pretty much my entire adult life since i was like 19 and a half has just been this family you know and the kids and So it's, it's a, it's a, yeah, it's a strange feeling when I, when I let myself go there, I start to like, Oh God.
echo_blades: Um, but yeah. So looking forward to that. Um, and man, dude, they don't fucking, he goes to a smaller, smaller school anyways, but, uh, they don't, they don't give out a lot of tickets for, for people, for your family.
Denis Tyrell: No.
Denis Tyrell: Even the big schools.
echo_blades: Um,
Denis Tyrell: I think the big schools, it's even worse.
echo_blades: Yeah, maybe. i don't I don't know. I haven't... Yeah. it It was interesting. You feel like you're fucking playing... I don't know. You're going to piss someone off because someone's not going.
Denis Tyrell: What'd you get for?
echo_blades: and I don't... I think we got... I think it's six.
Denis Tyrell: Okay, that's not bad
echo_blades: think it's six. Yeah. But I could be wrong, too. I didn't count. So... But um yeah, so that that's that's happening. But yeah, it's it's that's a weird deal that they do.
echo_blades: um Yeah, and then this weekend I...
Denis Tyrell: bad.
echo_blades: Go ahead.
Denis Tyrell: Is it an outdoor ceremony?
echo_blades: No, this one is going to be indoors.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, that's good. Cause my, um, when we went to my son Logan's, it was at like Livermore high and it's like outside in the bleachers and the fucking bleeding sun.
Denis Tyrell: When we did it, uh, I was ready to die.
echo_blades: I've been to three or four graduations out this way and they literally have like medical staff on, on board.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: Cause it's some days.
Denis Tyrell: It's crazy. Especially the kids in black.
echo_blades: Yeah. Yeah. It's a lot. It gets hot as shit. and Some of these are yeah like 100 degrees. And yeah yeah, it's a little crazy there. But no, this one's indoors.
echo_blades: And he goes to a smaller school. so But I guess that the the high school they did, they renovated it and just made a new auditorium.
Denis Tyrell: yeah
echo_blades: So they're going to do it in there. So that's cool.
Denis Tyrell: When for Parker's, um, ah Navy graduation, they actually have guys that just walk between the aisles to make sure that nobody passes out. Like that's what they're doing. They're looking at people to make sure that no one's passing out.
Denis Tyrell: Like the, the sailors that are standing there.
echo_blades: during the summer.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: You almost froze to death on his, right?
Denis Tyrell: That's pretty crazy. No, it's indoors.
echo_blades: Oh, that one was indoors.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, the the Navy one's always indoors. It's just that they're standing for so long and they've you know they've been up for already like five hours.
echo_blades: Oh, for the guys.
Denis Tyrell: a
echo_blades: all Oh, I gotcha.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, yeah, the the guys that are standing there, like the the sailors, during the graduation.
echo_blades: Yeah. yeah
Denis Tyrell: So not the not the attendees.
echo_blades: Gotcha. Oh, gotcha.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: Cool.
Denis Tyrell: Well, that's good. a Does he know what he's going to do in the fall or is he still thinking about that? Yeah. and
echo_blades: Yeah, he's still got some decisions to make. He's probably going to do a ah stint at the a local college here and then figure some stuff out.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: But...
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: All, all good. First things first, get them through here. Uh, that was our, our main goal and, uh, that mission accomplished there. Um, looking at his cap and gown stuff right here next to me.
echo_blades: Um, so, uh, we'll play like that.
Denis Tyrell: Nice.
echo_blades: Hopefully he'll go play golf somewhere. That'd be cool.
Denis Tyrell: ah Golf scholarship.
echo_blades: ah Yeah. Yeah. yeah tough, tough though. 10 years ago, that that was like an easy thing. If you were semi-decent ah at golf, you could get a scholarship somewhere fairly easy.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, I imagine the competition's brutal. Kids coming out as scratch golfers or something.
echo_blades: Yeah.
echo_blades: Yeah, I mean, he's a fucking like a six or a seven right now.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: he's He's gone like ridiculously good here over the past eight months or nine months, whatever it's been. Um, but yeah, he would get his ass handed to him right now. So he'd have to lock in and fully do that.
echo_blades: So we'll see.
Denis Tyrell: Hmm.
echo_blades: Um, but yeah. And then, uh, yeah, through all that crap, I, uh, I made some time this weekend and, and ah you know what, Dennis, apparently I can make a knife in a couple days.
Denis Tyrell: I knew it.
echo_blades: Apparently I can, apparently I can.
Denis Tyrell: Slacker.
echo_blades: So,
Denis Tyrell: I told you all along. It can't be done.
echo_blades: Yeah. It can be done. Yeah. I ground out. I did the whole fucking thing.
Denis Tyrell: this is like you started from scratch instead of doing one of the hundred knives you already have profiled.
echo_blades: Use the shit out.
Denis Tyrell: You started again.
echo_blades: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what it is, but the, the, yeah, I have a bunch of, like I, okay. Okay. I'm not the best decision maker in the world.
echo_blades: Not the best planner. I suffer from lack of organization. i have all these fucking things. Right. But the weeks before I was pretty optimistic that I was going to have that three day chunk to, to do some things.
echo_blades: And I planned on going to see you. i had some hidden tank stuff that I just needed to get the guard thing kind of fit up. And, um, I have a lot of knives really fucking close, but when it was just, when I knew it was just going to be me, I was just like, well fuck, I'm just going to,
Denis Tyrell: Bye.
echo_blades: And I have some orders too that, you know, it it was some decisions to make. So I, uh, I just grabbed an intrepid grounded out, you know, the it's mechanical connection, gulsel bolts, uh, you know, so a lot of the process are simplified for me.
echo_blades: Um, and, uh, yeah, so i just knocked it out, but, uh, I told my wife, I was like, apparently I can't make a knife. two days. She's like, yeah, you've done it before. And I'm like, yeah, well, apparently I can not make one in four months though. So you've done that before. was like, Hey, who's side are you on here?
echo_blades: Um, but yeah. And then I just unknowingly, ah when I was looking at, uh, handle material, um, I grabbed a piece of a rag micarta, just a random piece that i I had bought at a blade show once in a while.
echo_blades: And I didn't even really think about it. And um then I, you know, got it all prepped up and um it was really cool piece. It's like some, like, I, it's still to me, the, the, the vision that you have of, of a handle material,
echo_blades: before you finish it out like sometimes like i can get close to what i think it's going to be most of the time it always wows me but fuck dude i was completely wrong with this it was like ah and a piece of army camo rag micarta really bright greens like like um like the the old school army camouflage
Denis Tyrell: Hmm.
Denis Tyrell: yeah like like ammo can green.
echo_blades: Yeah. Yeah. um And the the name of that is completely escaping me right now. I'm going to get fired. um But yeah, that shit finished out way darker and way cooler than I imagined. um But yeah, after I started getting with it, then i I started remembering apparently people struggle with trying to finish out my Carta.
echo_blades: And I just I haven't had that experience.
Denis Tyrell: I just don't like it.
echo_blades: definite It doesn't bother me at all.
Denis Tyrell: It's not like a struggle. I just don't. i don't like i don't like the look of it. i don't It's just not my thing.
echo_blades: Yeah. I don't know. Did you look at this one? I'll show it to you when you get it. It does not, it does not look like a standard, uh, my card into me. It fucking really cool. So, um, yeah, but I just plowed right through it and got it all done. I, uh, I did, I knew I was going to, um, stonewash it.
echo_blades: Um, cause didn't want to fuck around with the hand sanding, but, um, so I used the Gator heavy, uh, first time I've, I used that. Um, and,
Denis Tyrell: but What's the steel in it?
echo_blades: ADCR V2. Yeah.
echo_blades: So, um, yeah, I just, so I wanted it dark and then as dark as the handles came out too, I was, uh, um, that that's what I was going to try to go for anyway. So, um, but then yeah, stonewashed it and whatever rocks I got in my little homemade jig, like I literally have a plastic jug, like Yay tall.
echo_blades: And I remember right when I first started, I went around the neighborhood and just like started grabbing rocks out of fucking neighbor's yards.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: And it's like a, it's like a random combo of flat, flat rocks, round rocks, sharp rocks. But, um, it really, I, I dig the, the finish that it, it comes out with on, on the things that I stonewash. It's not like it's a little unique. So, um, that was pretty cool.
echo_blades: My dog is dreaming.
Denis Tyrell: Where is it?
echo_blades: Uh, it's in the other room.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, right. Yeah, I mean, the the one picture you sent me, it looks pretty good. or the Sorry, the post that I saw.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, it looks good.
echo_blades: I didn't say anything.
Denis Tyrell: I don't remember.
echo_blades: Anyways.
Denis Tyrell: Maybe you sent it to Matt.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: I know I saw your post.
echo_blades: I don't know.
Denis Tyrell: on
echo_blades: Yeah. I don't know.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, looks good
echo_blades: But yeah, dude, it was good, man. i can't tell you that was a, it was a, a good feeling of just getting something done. um So. That was cool. Uh, yeah. And then I even snuck in, um, my mom's birthday was a couple of weeks back, um, on the 21st and, uh, I was sick.
echo_blades: So, um, I took her to go see the, Michael Jackson movie yesterday too.
Denis Tyrell: it looks good.
echo_blades: So,
Denis Tyrell: Didn't you already see that?
echo_blades: I did. Yeah. But she wanted to see it.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, okay.
echo_blades: She wanted me to take her. So, um, that was cool. That was a really good afternoon. can spend, go watch that movie with, with my mom and hang out. Um, so even had time for that.
echo_blades: So it was pretty cool.
Denis Tyrell: Nice.
echo_blades: I was, uh, happy, happy to not come empty handed at least.
Denis Tyrell: Cool.
echo_blades: That was going to bum me out. In reality, that was going to bum me out.
Denis Tyrell: What, not going to blade trail with a at least one knife?
echo_blades: Yeah.
echo_blades: I was trying to play like I didn't give a shit, but I really did. But I used...
Denis Tyrell: Even, even part, even Parker has a knife on the table. So you would have felt really bad.
echo_blades: No, that wouldn't bother me at all. It would have been more just because I didn't do anything. Yeah. Having so many things like... as close as they are. That was a bummer. But, uh, yeah, I use the shit out of my Ameribraid fastback two by 72.
echo_blades: Um, that's absolutely love that machine.
Denis Tyrell: Nice.
echo_blades: Um, didn't, didn't, uh, actually i did use the, uh, the hyper disc as well. But, um, you're in the market for a new grinder, go check out Ameribraid, americabraid.com. You can use a discount code triple T 10 for 10% off of accessories and the code TTT for discount on machines as well.
echo_blades: Get yourself the best grinder. on the market powerhouse thing is awesome tracks like a dream. Um, the, am learning that that rest is fucking awesome.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, it's, I love, love the rest.
echo_blades: Uh, yeah, it, it does everything. i didn't even, yeah i did use my, other, um, the, uh, I can't remember what the fuck I called it.
echo_blades: The one Jeff and I made though. Um, I have that set up on the, on the small wheel thing, but, uh, yeah, other than that, it was just all, well,
Denis Tyrell: the The fact that it's one lever, lever, whatever you want to call it, one handle to tighten it. and position it. You don't have to mess with like multiple handles. It does angles. It does every single angle because the thing will flip right over. So, uh,
echo_blades: Did you know or do you use the little set screw on the bottom of the ah of the rest that sets it back to zero every time?
Denis Tyrell: no, i don't even think mine has that.
echo_blades: It does. Yeah, there's a set screw on the underneath that you can...
Denis Tyrell: Really?
echo_blades: Yeah, you lock the motherfucker in, ah zeroed out, centered, all 90 degrees, squared up, and you hit this ah tighten the set screw on the bottom of it, and it just locks it in. I don't ever have to fucking zero that bitch out anymore.
echo_blades: It goes right back to fucking...
Denis Tyrell: Oh, he might have just made my day. I've never seen it.
echo_blades: Oh, dude, it is so subtly awesome fucking, one of the coolest fucking features, and it's so simple, not like over you know thought about or dramatized or...
echo_blades: you know like And I've never even heard anybody yeah talk about it. i um
Denis Tyrell: have never even knew it was there.
echo_blades: I randomly, when I was putting the fucker together, I watched a super old ass video that Eric did about putting it together. And in a very quick second, as I was you know looking what I needed to do, the audio was running in my ear and I heard him say something.
echo_blades: Yeah. And a lot of people don't know, but there's a little set screw there. And I was like, mother. I went and checked that and sure shit, it was there. So yeah, you got to go, go lock that thing in.
Denis Tyrell: Man, yeah. but I've said before on the podcast, one of my pet peeves is I feel like I am re-squaring my rest to the platen like every single time.
Denis Tyrell: So that would be awesome.
echo_blades: Yeah. Yeah. It's really cool. And I've, I took it from, you know, it to 60 to fuck.
Denis Tyrell: Okay.
echo_blades: I think I've been doing 80, close to 70 or 80 on something on the swedge. And, uh, I was like, fuck. Now I got to recenter it because I'm always looking for a reason to be annoyed about, you know, these amazing machines that do everything for us.
echo_blades: But yeah. And then I just, i just said, fuck. And I slapped it back and then I, you know, squared it, chewed it up with the, with the angle, right angle thing. And yeah, it was right back to zero. I was like, fuck yeah, dude.
echo_blades: That awesome.
Denis Tyrell: wow okay you're gonna you're gonna make me go look at that tomorrow now very cool so you're gonna make a sheath for that uh knife no
echo_blades: So yeah. Yeah. Very cool. Yeah. rico um
echo_blades: I don't know if I am not going to have time. There's no, no way. No. Like I said, I got tonight. i have work tomorrow. um Jared's graduation. That's really the kicker.
echo_blades: So I'm not doing anything tomorrow.
Denis Tyrell: right I did a new sheath video on Saturday.
echo_blades: said
Denis Tyrell: That's why I'm asking you.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Did you watch it?
echo_blades: I did not. Dude. I, I, again, I know I've said this before, but I have taken a fantastic break off of social media. Um, and I mean, to the detriment of not even doing the post for our show, which I do apologize, but it has been very purposeful, um, and direct strategic type of planning on my part to, to limit myself to absolutely damn near zero social media. Um, and it, it was working for me today. it was the first post I've done and of my own shit and,
echo_blades: a very long time, feels like. And so i was on i was on it today. um But I remember why, you know, because you just get locked in and, you know, I either get super fucking inspired or fucking over the top irritated and mostly irritated.
echo_blades: So, you know, I mean, I love you guys, but man some of you motherfuckers just... Good God.
Denis Tyrell: Tell us what you really think.
echo_blades: Good God. Yeah. um I will. That's just what it is. Like got said, you either fucking absolutely inspiring the shit out of me and making me feel bad about like what I do. And then other guys, I'm just like, yeah okay, maybe I should.
echo_blades: Yeah. Maybe I shouldn't be fucking looking at this anymore. So, um, but yeah, that that's been a, been a thing. So I did not watch the, uh, the, the triple T either. So.
Denis Tyrell: I was, it wasn't triple T was a Saturday video on, um, a build video for the, the knife that I did two weeks ago. Uh, it was the sheath for that. It was the, how did you sheath with inlays?
echo_blades: Oh, okay.
Denis Tyrell: So ah all of the sheaths that I'm bringing a blade show all have inlays.
echo_blades: oh was a fancy one.
Denis Tyrell: And I'm a, um I'm a big, I don't mind doing the stamping on the leather, but, uh, I'm really growing to be a bigger fan of like, do just having inlays of like Cayman skin or ostrich skin or some other, leather on the, on the inlay, like in the, like the little window.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: it, it,
echo_blades: yeah
Denis Tyrell: it I'm really, that the sheaths I'm bringing to Blade Show, the nicest sheaths that I've made to date.
echo_blades: Nice.
Denis Tyrell: So really happy with those.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: So figured I'd show folks how how I do the inlays, which I was pretty happy with.
echo_blades: Cool.
Denis Tyrell: Of course, there's still room for improvement, but getting there. Getting there. well The sheaths are one thing I was not pleased with my knives. in the last year or two.
Denis Tyrell: So that's why I wanted to actually spent a lot on, um, inlay material at blade, Texas bought a bunch of that.
echo_blades: Gotcha.
Denis Tyrell: so
echo_blades: Yeah. So, but that one of the cool things about, you know, doing a post too, is getting, getting some comments and and feedback from people. ah You know, and I had two, two fucking hilarious ones. um Toby,
echo_blades: I think I said something like, you know, and and they said it couldn't be done. and then to Toby's like, he I think it was on Facebook or something, but he was like, well, ah obviously they whoever said that doesn't really know you.
Denis Tyrell: what did dobie say
echo_blades: was like, that's fucking great. You son of a bitch. ah And then our good buddy, Matt over at Grip Tech Composites, the maker of Grip X, Grip X 3D, the limitless, awesome handle material.
echo_blades: So grippy, you could use a stranger and you could still feel it. um go He's going to be there. i hope wishing him another great ah blade show like you had last year. Awesome stuff. Good dude.
echo_blades: He commented, ah somebody must have hacked this guy's account,
echo_blades: which I thought was good.
Denis Tyrell: ah even kimlet Even Kim had a funny one, and i I said, oh, you should actually put that as a comment, and now I don't remember what it was, but I was laughing pretty good.
echo_blades: Um, yeah, that was pretty cool. I love that. Um, but yeah, it was, it was, it was pretty cool. Uh, you can use the discount code triple T 10 for 10% off, uh, at grip tech composites and go hit them up with that discount code at the, uh, at the show too. And while we're at it, we'll just talk about Pelican pace, which I'm going to finish that, uh, wonderful knife up with, um,
echo_blades: PelicanPaste.com. Travis Haynes, maker of hard wax, soft wax, Pelican oil, hand-solve soap, the Butternut cast iron seasoning. Discount code TTT10. We'll give you 10% off. I hope you got your challenge coin. You get a discount with that as well. And looking forward to saying what's up to Travis as well.
echo_blades: And even heat kilns. Family owned and operated since 1948, building the highest quality knife heat treat ovens available. Spencer and the boys will be there. I can't wait to go say what's up. Tell them how I'm loving the ah the kiln. And um yeah, if you're in the market for a new heat treat oven and you're at Blade, you yeah you'd be a damn fool if you don't go check out Spencer and at the Even Eat booth.
Denis Tyrell: Definitely. Speaking of social media, you were nowhere to be found when I called you to do that post with Kim.
echo_blades: I was there. I called you right back. and And I accept your apology.
Denis Tyrell: but But you you saw mine because we went to dinner as soon as I tried to call you and on my phone it says you called back 50 minutes later.
echo_blades: I did.
echo_blades: Yeah, and but it said a two right next to it. There was a two quantity.
echo_blades: I called you. I called you right back. I was in the living room and then I was getting ready to go out into the shop and then i was like, oh, fuck, he's going to call. And then I got up to go see and I saw that you had missed.
echo_blades: I'd missed a call and I walked into the shop and and called you like a minute later. And then yeah I was no go. And I was like, some bitch.
Denis Tyrell: Because she's like, oh, come on, let's get this ah this this video done before we go to dinner. And, yeah.
echo_blades: Yeah, because i wanted to be i wanted to be golfing. I have a little golf mat in there. and I wanted to fucking set my thing up. and Yeah, that would have cool.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: But I did.
Denis Tyrell: Did you see her post? Yeah.
echo_blades: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, it was fun.
echo_blades: i Yeah. Well, I think I got a tag in it. That's why.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, that's right.
echo_blades: But again, yeah, and I meant to get back to it and to and to share it and stuff.
Denis Tyrell: yeah
echo_blades: Yeah, it was pretty cool. Yeah, you looked pretty busy.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. and ah Toby said, man, your shop looks so clean. I'm like, I haven't even cleaned it yet. What are you talking about?
echo_blades: He's a freak. Toby's a fucking freak.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah. My shop is clean. Unlike other people's Jared.
echo_blades: My mom. Came over and I was, I was buffing the handles on the, on that knife. And she was sitting down in there and talking to me while i was, cause I was like, Oh, you got to see, this is my favorite part. You know, I'm like, see what it is now. And watch, I don't know what it's going to look like. And to buff it out. I'm like, Oh my God, you look at that. And then she was sitting there and um she goes, wow, this is, this is the messiest I've seen this place. And I'm like, yeah, the fuck it changed in six months.
Denis Tyrell: Well, yeah, but you probably walk in there, put shit around, and haven't done anything, so it's probably dirtier.
echo_blades: Yeah.
echo_blades: It's yeah, it's messy for sure.
Denis Tyrell: Messier, I should say.
echo_blades: I did blow the the shit out of it, but the yeah, I have a lot of things on a lot of different places. Yeah, for sure.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, I'm taking the leaf blower to the shop on Wednesday. No, tomorrow, actually.
echo_blades: That's what I did yeah yesterday. Bro, you know what I did that i I am not proud of myself with is that I go,
Denis Tyrell: Which thing?
echo_blades: Uh, I truly support. And if I'm in the groove of making, will wear my respirator.
echo_blades: But when I'm like, I'm only going to do this one thing, I'm only going to do this one thing. I'm ah in fuck. I was in there for a day and a half. And i ground the knife out and then I went to the handles and i you know, and I was hand sanding and I didn't put a fucking bro.
echo_blades: Yeah, that's not good.
Denis Tyrell: Did you have like Booger Central or what?
echo_blades: It just, I could feel in my, my breath, you know, like, and it's not, I mean, in in the short burst like that, like for a day or even that's not good, but I just want to rattle myself for not, for not doing that.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, it's not good for you.
echo_blades: Cause, uh, yeah that that's that's just dumb at the end of the night i'm like lynn's like you didn't wear your mask and i'm like no and i got that fancy versaflow too but i was like wow that'll fuck my whole flow up if i gotta stop for 30 seconds to put that fucking space suit on that won't finish this knife
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: so uh
Denis Tyrell: So you're sacrificing your health to finish a knife. I get it.
echo_blades: yeah Dude, I am all about this. I am all about this. Whatever it takes. Whatever it takes to get it done.
Denis Tyrell: bullshit.
echo_blades: Oh,
Denis Tyrell: ah All right.
echo_blades: man.
Denis Tyrell: Let's do some maker spotlights and talk about guys that actually do finish knives.
echo_blades: I have one thing I want... Before we do that, though, man, I just anonymously just want to say that I m always amazed at how people can come find new ways to complain about anything.
echo_blades: And i don't want to give too much context behind this, but I am just currently experiencing a level of, it doesn't fucking matter what you do. Someone always has a way to turn it around and, and turn like it's not good enough or, you know, make it bad for themselves.
echo_blades: Um, and I just hope that,
Denis Tyrell: No, come on. Give me some context. Is it work? Personal?
echo_blades: and Yeah. Just say it's work.
Denis Tyrell: okay
echo_blades: Just say it's work. Yeah. <unk> It's just like, I, it just, it, it's absolutely mind blowing. Sometimes you just like, you would never think that this, this could be bad.
echo_blades: And you're just like, Oh my God, this motherfucker's throwing a goddamn bitch fit. And you got, and I'm like, Oh, My water's too wet, my boss says. And I fucking hate when I have to say that. when He says because he's he's said a handful of things here that I find myself regurgitating, like my dad. you know like And yeah, that's ah that's one of his famous things.
Denis Tyrell: Uh,
echo_blades: Oh, my water's too wet. My ice is too cold. like they will There is a way to complain about something, man. but um Before we move on to some positive, awesome shit, I wanted to get that little ah bitch fucking out.
Denis Tyrell: but okay. We have no idea what you're referring to, but,
echo_blades: that's all I feel better. I feel so much better. Thank you for that release.
Denis Tyrell: uh, are you looking forward to that flight, uh, to Atlanta?
echo_blades: Yeah, I am a hundred percent. And I fucking thought about it, looked it up and I saw that that seat is still available. I did not listen to the show by the way. Um, and, uh, for very strategic reasons, but, um,
echo_blades: Yeah. Somebody, I asked somebody, I'm like, cause it's not that much, but then I remember how much I actually paid for the ticket in the, in the first place.
Denis Tyrell: and Don't think about that.
echo_blades: And then I was like, Oh, it's just 300. Dude, I'm the king of this. Like anyways. Yeah. I understand the the process cause it doesn't feel like you're spending what you paid already.
Denis Tyrell: Yep.
echo_blades: Yeah. Um, given the time, but I could use that money for something way cooler. So.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, i'm I'm sure I could too, but...
echo_blades: I'll just, I'll split in the back. I'm just sitting in the back of the bus. If it was half that, no brainer, I would do it, but that's pretty good chunk. So I'll be fine.
Denis Tyrell: But I don't know, I'm ruined. ever since Ever since we did Italy and we had the the upgraded seats to Italy, now even Austria, we've got we've got us upgraded seats on the way there, and Kim's bugging me to get the upgraded ones on the way back, at least for the long leg.
echo_blades: It makes sense for that trip, but I'm not trying to take a fucking red eye and first class, like whatever.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, I am. I want to get a good night's sleep.
echo_blades: It doesn't. Yeah, I'm not sleeping regardless, so it doesn't matter.
Denis Tyrell: um' I could actually sleep in those because they recline enough that I could actually sleep.
echo_blades: Maybe, but I would hate to not find it.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: Find out that I couldn't for that extra.
Denis Tyrell: Well, it's going to be like...
echo_blades: If it was a daytime flight, I would do it.
Denis Tyrell: It's going to still be dark by the time we land. um And it'll be like 2.30 in the morning, our time equivalent. So it won't it won't be that bad. It's going to be after...
Denis Tyrell: like four hours after that when we're gonna feel it we'll be eating breakfast

echo_blades: No, we I had to convince you that we can get an early check in. Last year and you were like, no, you can't. And I walked up there and I was like, look, it my husband has a buck room ready for us and I need to get some sleep.
echo_blades: And they were like, OK, yeah, there's probably a wait list. Yeah, we got in at like 1030 11. And I was up there taking a nap and you and Parker were going to have lunch or something like that.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, but year before, you had a right bitch fit.
echo_blades: But you're right. It was the year before that I had the bitch. Yeah. Yeah, I do remember that. I was losing it. i was like, felt like I was fucking on a five day bender like the old days. I was seeing fucking clowns jump out at me.
echo_blades: yeah I gotta go.
echo_blades: That is right.
Denis Tyrell: Oh.
echo_blades: I do. I concede there. That was the year before.

echo_blades: Oh my God. I know it too. Sorry, dude. Um, anyways, awesome maker. Um, I met him at, uh, blade show Texas the year before last. And, um,
echo_blades: Really, ah really cool handles. I remember um Lawrence was telling me about um at that time.

Denis Tyrell: Um, And the stiletto that, um it's like a tri-blade um stiletto with with a purple heart handle.
Denis Tyrell: Love this thing. I think it's beautiful. It's black, which is my jam with with fittings and stuff like that. But just some some beautiful stuff. He's got a Looks like a Fairbain Sykes dagger in his feed as well, which I love.
echo_blades: Which one?
Denis Tyrell: um Yeah, just some beautiful knives. I really like that one. There's ah a chef knife that's, what, four rows down. It's got a black core, and um it's some kind of San Mai. Just beautiful. Love that knife.

echo_blades: I like the one, the first ones. Yeah. That's really cool. Low line core.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: That's bad-ass.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah, that's really nice. But, um, yeah, even the, no, yeah, and I wasn't either.
echo_blades: ah no he's I was not following him.
Denis Tyrell: It was the, it was the stiletto that, um, turned me on, but, uh, yeah, I'm a fan. Does nice work.
echo_blades: Turned you on. Nice. Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: So go check him out. He's got just over 4,000 followers. 4,003, unless I refresh and Jared followed him. Yeah, 4,004. So go check him out at NedflyKnives.
Denis Tyrell: And yeah, very cool.
echo_blades: Yeah, that is me.
echo_blades: Cool.
Denis Tyrell: Um, and one last read, uh, if you guys are looking to sell your knives and maybe you're not going to a blade show or you are, and you want to get them out there early or sell what you got left after the show, you want to use the drop point.
Denis Tyrell: Uh, that free newsletter comes out every Thursday, goes to not only makers, but a ton of collectors and just guys that love knives. So, uh, get your stuff up on the drop point. It's free. Uh, so,
Denis Tyrell: You know, no throttling, no shadow bans, no guessing who actually sees your stuff when using social media. So get it out on a free newsletter that is an opt-in newsletter that people, you know, they're getting this because they want it. So go get your stuff up on the Drop Point.
echo_blades: Nice.
Denis Tyrell: Yeah.
echo_blades: Nice, nice, nice. Yeah.
Denis Tyrell: All right.
echo_blades: So we're, we're going to fly away, on Wednesday, go do blade show See everybody hang out, say what's up. Um, obviously come see us. What table are we at?
Denis Tyrell: 7-0.
echo_blades: Seven. Oh, um,
Denis Tyrell: Same column, but, you know, a bunch of rows up closer to the front. We are usually used to be at 23-0. Now we're at 7. Yeah.
echo_blades: Nice.
Denis Tyrell: yeah
echo_blades: Yep. My clubs are all packed up and ready to get shipped out.
Denis Tyrell: Oh, you're not bringing them on the plane?
echo_blades: Shipping those fuckers. they
Denis Tyrell: Huh.
echo_blades: No, there's a, a, a website called ship sticks that I'm going to try for the first time. So you just pack it up and then they'll, they're going to ship them to my buddy's house.
Denis Tyrell: Huh.

echo_blades: Uh,
echo_blades: I forgot you had one.

echo_blades: You bringing that again or no?
Denis Tyrell: No. Because um everything fits in my regular bag.
echo_blades: Shit. I, yeah
Denis Tyrell: i made i actually made...
echo_blades: I'm,
Denis Tyrell: um That, yeah i know you don't watch the Triple T, but I did the, um, um, my, I showed my setup, my table setup in the last Triple T and showed the overhead banner.
Denis Tyrell: Like the overhead banner is the only thing that didn't fit. And there's no reason that they made this thing like 36 inches long. So all I did was cut two of the pipes and then put wood dowel in them.
Denis Tyrell: so that I could just read, you know, anyway, basically cut them, uh, and then put, you know, rigged it up so I could like fit these in my suitcase. Cause that's important.
echo_blades: Gotcha.
Denis Tyrell: Especially when I go to, ah um, um,
Denis Tyrell: uh, Austria, I can't be slinging this thing over my shoulder in an airport. So everything's got to fit in the bag.
Denis Tyrell: So yeah, I am all set.
echo_blades: Cool. Yeah.
echo_blades: That's, I'm going to throw my knife in your bag though. I'm not to check a bag.

echo_blades: Yeah, we'll release it later in the week.
echo_blades: Or we'll record it.
