Today's reading we will cover Luke Chapter 7:36-50, Chapter 8:1-3, Matthew Chapter 12:22-37, and Mark Chapter 3:20-30.
Today' we will ask and read the answer to the question: Is there any sin we can commit for which God will not forgive us? In our reading we will read about Jesus's feet being washed by a woman's tears and his feet anointed by her perfume. We will also read about a man being healed when Jesus cast out bad spirits from him and the leaders who were there accused Jesus of doing so with the power of satan. Jesus replied that no house divided against itself can stand, and the same is true with satan if he casts himself out. He is fighting against himself. Jesus was casting out bad spirits by the power of the Holy Spirit and the leaders calling the Holy Spirit bad was speaking against the Holy Spirit and it was a sin for which no one would be forgiven, ever. The Holy Spirit's role is to convict people of sin. He shows us when we are doing something wrong. When the Holy Spirit leads people to Jesus and yet they choose to deny the truth. When we get to heaven we will meet Jesus and God. At that time we will either be welcomed into their kingdom or held accountable for not believing in and obeying God's Holy Spirit who has been calling them to Him. God does not desire for anyone to die. God desires for EVERYONE to come to Him and experience eternal life with Him.
As part of our daily application we will also talk about not judging others for being "sinful" as because all people have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. In our reading today the woman was not named but simply described as "a sinful woman." Jesus taught us that those who have been forgiven of a lot of sins have a lot of love for Him, whereas those who have not been forgiven for many sins do not. It can help our humility to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal our own sinful nature to us so that we may recognize the fullness of how much Jesus has forgiven us of so that we may also have a lot of love for Him.
