Today's reading will comes to us from Matthew Chapter 26:30, Mark Chapter 14:26, Luke Chapter 22:39 and John Chapters 15 and 16.

Today's we will read more about Jesus' commandment to love one another and why. Today Jesus will explain that we are all connected as branches of HIS vine. Additionally, Jesus prayed for us all, asking God that we would all work together the way that Jesus and God work together and that we would be IN THEM! We are all connected as ONE, ALL OF US!! We are ONE WITH EACH OTHER! I hope you understand this is the reason that it is so important for us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS JESUS LOVES US. Once again I want to remind us that it is very important not to let satan cause division between us. WE ARE ONE IN EACH OTHER AND WE ARE ONE IN JESUS AND ONE IN GOD. To be clear, we are not God; we are not Jesus; we are ONE WITH THEM AND EACH OTHER BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. Let us remember that and refuse to be pitted against one another, whether Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, non denomination, etc.

It is important that we STAY in God's love by obeying Jesus because we cannot do anything on our own. When we try to do things on our own we separate ourselves from Jesus' vine, stop bearing fruit, and risk being cut off and thrown into the fire as a dead branch. When we bear fruit God will trim us so that we can bear even more fruit! Jesus tells us today to bear LOTS of fruit by obeying Him and loving one another. Let's do it!

Introduction to Daily Bible Reading

00:00:02
Speaker
Welcome back. Today is September 30th. My name is Robin and we are within the Family Way Coaching here for our daily Bible reading through the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:17
Speaker
I'm so glad that you are joining me today. We have a lot to cover in our daily reading today. So whether you are listening on your podcast or watching on your video, I hope you're ready because we're going to read the Bible today.

Day of Atonement and Jesus's Sacrifice

00:00:30
Speaker
Before we do, we're going to take out our calendar and we're going to mark off today's date. It is the last day of the month. We are going to be heading into October tomorrow.
00:00:41
Speaker
And before we do, i want to remind us that tomorrow begins the Day of Atonement this year. This recording was made in 2025. And so the Day of Atonement begins tomorrow.
00:00:54
Speaker
And there will be a link down below in order for you to access and to be able to participate by watching a Messianic Jewish Congregations service online.
00:01:04
Speaker
ah for the atonement days for tomorrow and for the next day. So today in 2025, it is Tuesday and the service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Pacific time.
00:01:16
Speaker
And then there is a 631, which will be the closing one on Thursday. This is a Shabbat day, and so I'm planning to take tomorrow and Thursday off.
00:01:30
Speaker
So I hope that you are also planning on taking some time off for this special Day of Atonement. So you may be asking yourself, why do I need to celebrate that? I'm not Jewish, and Jesus paid the price for my sins. I'm already atoned for.
00:01:44
Speaker
That is right. This is a day to remember are the atonement that Jesus has made for us and that he fulfilled the scripture. Jesus did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it.
00:01:58
Speaker
So this is an important distinction. So these times of remembrance are still important to remember because we remember that this is why he came, was to connect us better with God, to reconcile us with our state of sin.
00:02:14
Speaker
prior to ah Jesus coming, we had this single day of atonement. And now we can experience God's forgiveness at any time because he has paid that price.
00:02:26
Speaker
And we're going to be learning because we are coming up to, ah in our reading of Jesus's crucifixion, that when he died, the the God tore the curtain in the temple, in the holiest of holy places, there was a curtain.
00:02:43
Speaker
that separated the presence of god and the only time the priests could come into that area was the once a year on the day of atonement and god tore that curtain not from side to side but from top to bottom showing that now it was open We have access to God.

Jesus's Second Coming and Symbolism

00:03:02
Speaker
And we're going to be learning today in our reading that when Jesus was leaving, it was good for us for that to happen because he would not only save us, but he would be sending the helper, the Holy Spirit, who would come and do several things.
00:03:17
Speaker
So we're going to be learning about the things that the Holy Spirit would do after he died. So I just think it's absolutely amazing that the timing for our readings is corresponding with the the Day of Atonement.
00:03:31
Speaker
And when he rises, it will be next week on the Day of Tabernacles, the Feast of Tabernacles first day. And that is important because Jesus is alive and he will come back again to tabernacle with us, to dwell with us on earth.
00:03:49
Speaker
And before that happens, there will be the blasting of the great shofar that we just read about last week. And that we celebrated last week. And that will be done by the angels. And then we who are believers will be swept up and caught with Jesus in the air.
00:04:09
Speaker
It's important for all people to remember that when Jesus does come back, it will not be done in secret, but that it will be done like lightning will be able to see it happen.

Teachings on Connection and Discipleship

00:04:19
Speaker
Like lightning comes from one side, the east to the west.
00:04:22
Speaker
This will not be something where you missed out knowing it it occurred. We sometimes joke when it's not very populated somewhere and we say, what happened? Did I miss the rapture? And it's it's a silly joke. But when the time does come,
00:04:37
Speaker
And it will come. It will be visible to all of us. And it is possible because of what we are going to be reading about today. Now, Jesus's crucifixion doesn't happen just yet in our reading.
00:04:51
Speaker
We are still getting there. We have a couple more days before that happens, but we are very close. And so we are going to be seeing some of the last things that Jesus is teaching us about.
00:05:03
Speaker
And guess what? It has to do with what we were talking about yesterday. We talked about that as Jesus is getting ready for his time here on earth to end, that there are things that he wants to make sure that the disciples know.
00:05:18
Speaker
And he is very concerned about making sure that they know that they are connected. they are to treat each other well not simply for the fact of of because it's a nice thing to do but he has very specific reasons for why we need to treat each other well and today jesus is going to talk about what i spoke about yesterday about how we are all connected we are connected through god's spirit and through jesus He's actually going to tell us about that today.
00:05:51
Speaker
So it's not just something that I am talking about. This is something that Jesus taught us. So let's get into our reading. We do have a lot to cover in our reading today.
00:06:07
Speaker
We are going to start off with the section entitled, The Vine. Now, Jesus and his friends sang a song. This is called the Halal or Halel. I think it might be pronounced.
00:06:19
Speaker
Remember, they are still at the Passover so celebration for themselves. And so there's a song that they sing, and it's actually Psalms 113 through the Passover meal.
00:06:30
Speaker
that is part of the passover meal And they sing that. And part of that is that it incorporates the psalm where it talks about the cornerstone that has been re rejected, has become the the cornerstone and that that has been lifted up.
00:06:50
Speaker
And so it is just amazing that these psalms would be sung at this time, the that the stone that had been rejected by the builders would become the cornerstone.
00:07:01
Speaker
Jesus was being rejected, but we know that it was necessary, and now he would be lifted up as well.

Commandment of Love and Joy

00:07:11
Speaker
After they sang the song, they headed for Olive Mountain. "'I am like a vine,' said Jesus, "'and you are like the branches.' Remember, Jesus is teaching how we are all connected.
00:07:25
Speaker
So think of everything that we are reading today in terms of how we are connected with one another, connected with Jesus, and connected with God. This whole passage today has to do with being connected.
00:07:42
Speaker
I am like a vine, said Jesus, and you are like the branches. My father is the one who takes care of the garden. He cuts off the branches that don't grow fruit.
00:07:56
Speaker
He trims the branches that do grow fruit. And that way they will grow even more fruit. So stay in me, said Jesus, and then I will stay in you.
00:08:11
Speaker
Then ah i will stay in you. And branches, branches can't grow fruit by themselves. They have to stay on the vine. You will grow a lot of fruit if you stay with me.
00:08:27
Speaker
You cannot do anything without me, said Jesus. So what happens if you don't stay with me? Then you are like a broken branch. It dries up and it gets thrown away.
00:08:41
Speaker
Then it gets burned up in the fire. Stay in me and let my words stay in you. If you do that, you can ask for anything you want and it will be given to you.
00:08:58
Speaker
Be like a branch that grows a lot of fruit. Show everyone that you are my followers. Then people will see what my father is like, and they will see how great my father is.

World's Rejection and the Holy Spirit's Promise

00:09:15
Speaker
I love you. i love you the way my father loves me, said Jesus. Stay my love. You do this by obeying me.
00:09:27
Speaker
That's how it is with my father and me. I obey my father's rules, and I stay in his love. I have told you this so that you can have joy.
00:09:39
Speaker
the joy that I have will be in you too.
00:09:44
Speaker
And this is my rule. Love each other like I love you. There is one thing that shows the greatest love, and it's giving up your life for your friends.
00:09:58
Speaker
You are my friends if you do what I say. I'm not calling you servants anymore, said Jesus. I'm calling you friends. I've told you everything I learned from my father.
00:10:12
Speaker
I chose you. You didn't choose me. I chose you to go out and be like a tree that grows fruit. Grow fruit for God by doing things for him that will last.
00:10:31
Speaker
I'm going to insert our big Bible reading here at for ah John chapter 15, verses 17 through chapter 16, verse 4.
00:10:45
Speaker
three
00:10:47
Speaker
These things command you, so that you may love one another.
00:10:55
Speaker
This section is entitled, The World Hates God's Own. If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before you. If you were the world, then the world would love you as its own.
00:11:09
Speaker
But you are not of the world, since I have chosen you out of the world. Therefore, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you.
00:11:21
Speaker
A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
00:11:37
Speaker
But all of these things they will do to you for the sake of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, then they would have no sin.
00:11:49
Speaker
But now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me also hates my father. If I had not done the works among them that no one else did, then they would have no sin.
00:12:05
Speaker
But now they have seen and hated both me and my father. And so it is fulfilled the word written in their scripture. They hated me for no reason.
00:12:17
Speaker
When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also testify because you have been with me from the beginning.
00:12:33
Speaker
I have spoken these things to you so that you may be kept from stumbling. They will throw you out of the synagogues. Yes, an hour is coming when whoever kills you will think that he is offering a service to God.
00:12:49
Speaker
And they will do these things because they have never known the Father or me. But I have spoken these things to you so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you of them.
00:13:02
Speaker
I did not tell you these things from the beginning i because I was with you.
00:13:09
Speaker
I'm going away, said Jesus, and that's really the best thing for

Jesus's Prayer for Unity and Safety

00:13:14
Speaker
you, because then can send the helper, and he will show the people of the world that they have sinned, and he will show what it is like to be right with God.
00:13:28
Speaker
Here I'm going to insert our big Bible reading, chapter 16 of John, verses 9 through 20.
00:13:38
Speaker
Concerning sin. He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment, concerning sin because they do not believe in me, and concerning righteousness because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me, and concerning judgment because the ruler of this world has been judged.
00:14:01
Speaker
I still have much more to tell you, but you cannot handle it just now. But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, and He will not speak up on His own.
00:14:12
Speaker
But whatever He hears, He will tell you. And He will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify Me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you.
00:14:27
Speaker
Everything that the Father has is Mine. For this reason, I said that the Spirit will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
00:14:39
Speaker
In a little while, you will not see me any longer. And in a little while, you will see me. And then son of some of his disciples said to one another, what does he mean telling us that in a little while, you will no longer see me.
00:14:53
Speaker
And then again, in a little while, you will see me. And because I am going to the Father, And they kept on saying, what's this he's saying? a little while.
00:15:07
Speaker
Oh, I lost my place there. Sorry about that.
00:15:12
Speaker
We don't know what he is talking about. Now, Jesus knew that they wanted to question him. So he said to them, are you asking each other about this? That I said a little while and you will no longer see me. And again, in a little while you will see me.
00:15:27
Speaker
Amen, amen, I tell you, you will cry and mourn, but the world will celebrate. You will cry while the world is happy. You will cry, but your crying will turn to joy.
00:15:42
Speaker
and it's like a woman who is going to have a baby. It hurts when it's time for the baby to be born, but then the baby comes and she forgets the hurting.
00:15:53
Speaker
She is just so happy that the baby is born. So now it is your time to cry, but I will see you again. And then you will be happy and no one will be able to take your joy away.
00:16:11
Speaker
i have been talking in stories, said Jesus, but someday I will tell you clearly about my father. I came from him and now I am going back to him.
00:16:24
Speaker
"'You are talking clearly,' they said, said Jesus's friends. "'And we believe that you come from God.' "'At last you believe,' said Jesus. "'Soon each of you will go back home. "'And you will leave me all alone, but won't really be alone, "'because my Father is with me.

Love, Unity, and Overcoming Hatred

00:16:47
Speaker
"'You will have trouble in this world.' said Jesus, but be happy because the world has lost and have won.
00:17:00
Speaker
Then Jesus looked up toward heaven and he prayed, Father, it's time now. Show your greatness in me. Show who I am so I can show who you are.
00:17:14
Speaker
You put me in charge of all people, and you did it so I could give life that lasts forever. I can give it to every everyone you gave to me. This life comes from knowing you and me.
00:17:29
Speaker
You are the only real God, and I am the one you sent, said Jesus. I have shown your greatness and I have done the work you have sent me to do.
00:17:41
Speaker
So now, Father, show who I am. Give me the place I had but with you before the world started. i have shown you to the people you gave me, said Jesus.
00:17:55
Speaker
They were yours and you gave them to me. they obey your word. I told them the words you told me, and they believed that you sent me, and I am praying for them.
00:18:10
Speaker
They are still in the world, said Jesus, but I am coming to you. Father, keep them safe. Keep them safe by the power of your name.
00:18:22
Speaker
I kept them safe. Only one of them turned away, I am not asking you to take them out of the world. I am asking you to keep them safe from Satan.
00:18:36
Speaker
And my prayer is not just for them, said Jesus. I am praying for all people who will believe in me. Jesus prayed for you ahead of time.
00:18:49
Speaker
And Jesus prayed for me long ago. i pray that they will all work together together. I pray that they will all work together like you and me, Father.
00:19:03
Speaker
You are in me and I am in you. So let them be in us. And that way the world can believe that you sent me. Father, I want my friends to be with me and I want them to see my greatness.
00:19:21
Speaker
It's the greatness that you gave me because you love me. And you loved me before the world was made. The world doesn't know you, said Jesus.
00:19:34
Speaker
I know you. And I have told them about you. And I will keep showing you to them. That way your love for me can be in them too.
00:19:46
Speaker
And then I can be in them too.
00:19:51
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:19:57
Speaker
Isn't that wonderful? Jesus did what he did, dying for us, not just so that we could have our sins paid for, but so that we could be one with him and one with God.
00:20:11
Speaker
And we are also one with each other. Did you catch that? Jesus said, I am praying for all people who will believe in me.
00:20:22
Speaker
And I pray that but they will all work together I pray that they will all work together like you and me, Father. We are to be close together, like how Jesus and God are.
00:20:38
Speaker
says Jesus says, you are in me and I am in you. So let them be in us. And that way the world can believe that you sent me.
00:20:51
Speaker
It is so important that we work together. We are all branches, part of the same vine. We can't do anything on our own.
00:21:02
Speaker
We can't do anything separate from Jesus. If we don't bear fruit, then we will be cut off. God will prune when we are making fruit so that we will bear even more fruit.
00:21:16
Speaker
We want to be sure that we stay in Jesus and God's love. And we do that by obeying him and by loving one another. That connects us.
00:21:27
Speaker
We are all together. We're not just part of the same thing body. We are part of one another. That is so important.
00:21:38
Speaker
Satan knows this. He wants to cause difficulties between us. And we need to be aware of that. All physical battles start as a result of spiritual battle.
00:21:50
Speaker
He is trying to keep us apart because he knows that we are one. This is so important. You see, Jesus spoke a lot about that today.
00:22:02
Speaker
He's been teaching us how to love one another, how to care for one another, to serve one another, how to treat one another. And now he specifically says, so that we can work together.
00:22:16
Speaker
We are not just part of the same body. We are one with each other. We are one with God and we are one with Jesus. he They are in us and we are in them.
00:22:28
Speaker
And we are with each other in that.

Promoting Love Across Religions

00:22:32
Speaker
I hope that you understand the depth of that and that you are always wanting to make that an important part of your life. That whenever people are bothering at you, we want to say things like, I hate people.
00:22:48
Speaker
But Jesus has told us that it's not okay to say that. We cannot hate one another and and not hate Jesus because we are together. People can't even hate Jesus without hating God.
00:23:02
Speaker
And Jesus tells us that if they hate people hate us, they are really hating him.
00:23:09
Speaker
So it's important not to hate one another, whether we are Jewish, whether we are Muslim, whether we are Palestinian, whether we are from any other country, whether we are Hispanic, whether we are from the United States, whether we are from Russia, no matter what we are, whether we are Catholic, Protestant, whatever we are,
00:23:37
Speaker
It is so important that we not hate one another. We are meant to love one another. jesus Jesus says that by doing so, we will have the same joy that he has in the Father.
00:23:53
Speaker
Isn't that wonderful? it's It's a benefit for us to do so. And not only that, but we will show the world who God is by loving one another.
00:24:06
Speaker
So I hope that you feel that God has lit your light today. Let's click that light button and encourage others to hear the message that we read about today. that we want to spread the word about reading God's word.
00:24:20
Speaker
As always, I do include all of the chapters and verses of what our reading comes from. We read quite a bit today. Much of it comes from the book of John today. But I always put that in the description so that if you are hungry for more of God's word or you want to read it for yourself, you can head up your big Bible and know exactly where to go for today's reading.
00:24:43
Speaker
Just one more time, I want to remind us that tomorrow begins the Day of Atonement and that there will be two services, one tomorrow and one the following day, and that I will have the link to the Tree of Life Messianic Jewish Congregation where you can live stream the event at 7 p.m.
00:25:03
Speaker
on Wednesday night and at 6.30 on Thursday night. Those are p.m. and they are Pacific time, as I am here in California. and so is my synagogue.
00:25:15
Speaker
One more thing I do want to mention is that Christians can have a tendency to think that they are better than Jews because the Jewish people have not come to believe yet in Jesus as the Messiah.
00:25:27
Speaker
We are meant to love our Jewish brothers, And same thing with our Muslim brothers. And we are meant to talk about Jesus and pray for for them. We are not meant to hate anybody.
00:25:40
Speaker
So there is a lot going on in the world where there is a lot of encouragement to hate Jewish people. And there's a lot of encouragement even to hate Muslim people. And I want to make it clear that we are not to hate.
00:25:55
Speaker
They are still our brothers. They are our sisters. and they don't know the Messiah yet, but we are to show them Jesus's love. That is very important.
00:26:07
Speaker
We are looking to add people to our sheepfold. We are not looking to and exclude people. We can pray for them. We can show them the scriptures, but we cannot condone hate.
00:26:23
Speaker
The Holy Spirit will lead people. Not everybody will come to it a saving grace, But that is not our responsibility. It is our responsibility to love one another, even our ah brethren who are Muslim and Jewish.
00:26:40
Speaker
So thank you again for joining me for today's reading. And I do again want to encourage you to click that light button that looks like a heart. It looks like a thumbs up. Let's share.
00:26:51
Speaker
Let's click that subscribe and follow so that other people will be attracted to this event so that they may hear and know God's word. It's very important to spread the word about reading God's word.
00:27:02
Speaker
I hope you

Closing Encouragement and Engagement

00:27:03
Speaker
have a fantastic rest of your day, whatever day you are hearing this message on September 30th reading and of out of our Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:27:13
Speaker
And until we have next day's reading, I will see you then. Have a great day.
