If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year

Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages

Today's reading will include the books of Mark Chapter 24:41-44., and Chapter 13, Luke Chapter 21:1-36 and Matthew Chapter 24:1-36.

Today we will read about the widow who gave more of her money than those who were rich, and the signs that Jesus will be returning again soon.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about applying the idea of giving all we have back to God to our very lives and the time we have each day. God is zealous and jealous for our time. He can never get enough of us! He wants us to live our lives with Him! He lives in us with His Holy Spirit! We even have an "internal voice" that we use to talk to ourselves about things. Let's redirect the conversation and use that inner voice to talk to God instead. I believe that is what it is for, rather than talking to ourselves. Let's give God ALL OF US, every part of our lives. Let's involve God in everything we do and truly abide in HIM. He already lives in us. We need to also live in HIM. We do this by making Him a part of EVERYTHING we are doing in life! Let's not just give God time out of our surplus; instead, let us give Him ALL of our time, ALL of OURSELVES.

Introduction and Daily Routine

00:00:02
Speaker
Hello! Today is September 25th. Welcome to today's daily reading out of the Day by Day Kids Bible, written by Karen Henley. My name is Robin. I am with In the Family Way Coaching, and I will be our hostess today.
00:00:17
Speaker
I will also be our reader. If you have been around listening for a while, then you might have one of these. What is that?
00:00:28
Speaker
That's our commitment calendar. Go ahead and get that out and your sticker or whatever you are using to mark up your days because we are going to hear the Bible today.

Teachings of Jesus Before Passover

00:00:41
Speaker
I'm so glad that you are listening along today, however you have found this event, whether you are watching on YouTube somewhere. YouTube seems to be our most popular venue, aside from maybe like Apple Music.
00:00:54
Speaker
And so I want to say if you are finding this popping up on your feed, stick around. This is not your average Bible listening activity.
00:01:05
Speaker
We are going to be talking about daily application on how today's reading can be useful in our lives. This is not using like an NIV version. This is a chronological story, and we are reading it from front to back.
00:01:19
Speaker
So we are getting the whole big picture of God's plan and story for us. It has been a great year so far. And if you are just finding this event, we are towards the end of Jesus's time for his ministry here on earth.
00:01:37
Speaker
And ah we are going to be picking up where he is close to the Passover time. So he is getting closer to the time of his crucifixion.
00:01:49
Speaker
We will be getting to that on October 7th or somewhere around the... um It's October 4th, so we are almost there.
00:02:01
Speaker
This is a very, there was a lot going on. a very concentrated amount of of information that was given in such a short period of chronological time.
00:02:13
Speaker
So today are going to be looking at giving all you have. We're going to give today's reading a little broader application than what you might be accustomed to hearing.

Warnings of Future Events and End Times

00:02:26
Speaker
So let's see, when we pick up from yesterday, Jesus was being questioned by some leaders. And Jesus was, of course, answering very well. And so he finally, they finally stopped asking him questions.
00:02:44
Speaker
So now Jesus sat down at the worship house and he was across from the place where the people gave their money. And he was watching people put money into the offering box.
00:02:57
Speaker
Lots of rich people came by, and they threw in lots of money. But then a poor woman walked up. Her husband had died, and she dropped in two small pennies.
00:03:12
Speaker
Look, said Jesus to his friends. This woman put the most money into the offering box. It's more than what the rich people put in.
00:03:23
Speaker
because the other people only gave part of their riches. But this poor woman, she gave all the money she had.
00:03:36
Speaker
Now Jesus and his helpers left the worship house. Look, said one of his friends, look how big the stones are in the worship house. What wonderful buildings.
00:03:50
Speaker
Yes, look at all these big buildings, said Jesus. Someday they will all be torn down. not one stone will be left upon another.
00:04:04
Speaker
and Jesus walked up all of mountain and he sat down. From there, he could see the city across the valley and he could see the worship house. Peter, James, John, and Andrew came up to Jesus.
00:04:21
Speaker
They said, when will that happen? And what will happen to let us know that you are going to come, you're you're coming again? How will we know when the end of time is coming?
00:04:35
Speaker
Be careful, said Jesus. Don't let anyone trick you. You will hear people say, i am the one God promised to send. And they will fool lots of people.
00:04:48
Speaker
And you will also hear about wars. And don't be scared because this has to happen. That doesn't mean that the end of time has come yet.

Preparedness for the Return of Jesus

00:04:59
Speaker
Nations will fight against each other.
00:05:03
Speaker
Kingdoms will fight each other. And sometimes there won't be enough food, Jesus said. The ground will shake in different places. But this is just the beginning.
00:05:16
Speaker
You will have to be careful, said Jesus. People will send you to judges and they will beat you. And it's because of me. Then you will tell rulers and kings about me and I will help you know what to say.
00:05:35
Speaker
There will be more and more sin, said Jesus. Most people's love will grow cold.
00:05:45
Speaker
People will hate you because you belong to me. But keep loving me and you will be saved. The good news of the kingdom will be told.
00:05:58
Speaker
It will be told all over the world, said Jesus. All nations will hear it. Then the end will come. One day you will see armies all around Jerusalem, and then you will know the bad times are coming for Jerusalem.
00:06:17
Speaker
People living nearby will need to run to the mountains. People in the city should just get out. People in the country should not go back to the city.
00:06:28
Speaker
This will pay God's people back for their sins. Pray that you won't have to leave in the winter, and pray that you won't have to leave on a worship day. There will be lots of trouble, said Jesus.
00:06:44
Speaker
Things will be worse than they have ever been since the beginning of time.
00:06:51
Speaker
Things will never be that bad again. Some people will be killed, he said, and others will be taken to live in other lands. People who are not Jewish will control Jerusalem for a while.
00:07:06
Speaker
This won't last long. If it did, no one would live through it. The time will be short because of God's people. Someone might say, look, here's Jesus.
00:07:21
Speaker
They might say, there he is. But do not believe them. Fake promised ones will come and they will even do great wonders.
00:07:32
Speaker
They will try to fool God's people if they can. See, said Jesus, I have told you all of this before it happens. Someone might say, there is Jesus.
00:07:44
Speaker
He is out in the desert. Do not go out. They might say, here he is. He's in one of the rooms of this building. Do not believe it When I come, it will be like lightning, said Jesus.
00:08:04
Speaker
You can see it when you are in the east. You can see it when you're in the west. Now, right after the hard times, the sun will turn dark. The moon will not shine its light.
00:08:17
Speaker
Stars will fall from the sky. And then my sign will show up in the sky.
00:08:25
Speaker
Nations will cry, said Jesus. They will see me coming through the sky on clouds. I will come with power. I will send my angels out with a loud call from a horn.
00:08:42
Speaker
The angels will bring my people together, said Jesus. They will come from one end of the sky to the other. they will be There will be signs in the sun.
00:08:55
Speaker
There will be signs in the moon. There will be signs in the stars. The sea will roar and toss, and people will wonder about it. People will be afraid of what's coming.
00:09:10
Speaker
Look up when this starts to happen. Watch, said Jesus. That means it's time for you to be saved. Learn a lesson from the fig tree.
00:09:22
Speaker
You can see his leaves coming out, and so you know that summer will soon be here. You may see these things that I have talked about, and then you will know the time is coming soon.
00:09:35
Speaker
One day there will be an end to the sky, said Jesus, and there will be an end to the earth. But there will never be an end to my words.
00:09:49
Speaker
Nobody knows when this will happen, said Jesus. Even the angels in heaven don't know. Even hi the sun and don't know. Only the Father knows.
00:10:03
Speaker
And I am telling everyone the same thing. Watch.

Dedication to Serving and Loving God

00:10:10
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:10:16
Speaker
We've talked a little bit before about the fact that nobody knows when the day will come. I wanted to point out, did you hear the description about the great horn that will be blown?
00:10:28
Speaker
It says, the angels will bring my people together after When Jesus comes with power, he he will send his angels out. They're not just any angels. These are his angels.
00:10:40
Speaker
Jesus says, I will send my angels out with a loud call from a horn. And this is why we celebrated the Feast of the Trumpet, the great shout blowing of the Shafar Day.
00:10:54
Speaker
We just had that this past week on the 23rd.
00:11:00
Speaker
That was an appointed time. God wants us to never forget that this will happen. It will be like when the ah exile was coming for the people in Jerusalem.
00:11:14
Speaker
They had heard for so long. that God was going to send them away from the nation because of their sins. And they just felt like, we've been hearing this same old story for so long.
00:11:28
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's coming. Okay, sure, sure, sure. We don't believe it. This is not going to happen. And we can feel the same way. Oh, this will never happen in my lifetime.
00:11:41
Speaker
And even if it doesn't, we are still to watch and be ready. Jesus taught us that it is good for us to be found doing what we are supposed to be doing when he does come.
00:11:54
Speaker
So it's like the servant who is waiting up for his master to come home from a wedding party. And the servant says, my master is taking a very long time to come.
00:12:07
Speaker
And so he's not there. He's not ready. And then when the master comes home, the servant is not ready for him. We are Jesus's servants. We are to be doing the work that we are given to do before he comes.
00:12:23
Speaker
And there will be signs in the sky. And it says that his sign will come. And I'm not 100% sure, but I'm guessing it has to do with like the star that appeared on his birth.
00:12:38
Speaker
So I don't know. Maybe it will be something like that. But nobody knows. So we need to be conscientious about the fact that people always make videos and they say, oh, the rapture is going to be coming in 2025. Oh, this is going to be coming in 20 something or in 19 something.
00:13:00
Speaker
Many times people have claimed that God was coming on a certain particular date. We are not to believe these things because nobody, not even Jesus, knows the date that this will happen.
00:13:16
Speaker
We can be watching for signs and say, it is coming soon. And we can be prepared. And he says to look up at the sky. But we are not to declare that we know when it is coming because that is a lie.
00:13:29
Speaker
And if somebody else declares it, that is a lie. And if somebody declares that Jesus is has come and you missed it and you didn't know it happened, that will be a lie.
00:13:42
Speaker
And there will be fake prophets who claim to be him. And they will even do great wonders that will fool even the elect if possible. So we need to be very aware not to be deceived because Jesus tells us that when he comes, it will be like lightning from the from the sky.
00:14:02
Speaker
You can see it across the whole sky. So this is not the first time he has told us this. He wants us to be sure that we get this message, that we know. And that's why he says, I have told you ahead of time.
00:14:18
Speaker
So that might seem like it's our daily application, but it was just very important reading. Today, we're also going to look at the woman who gave all that she had instead of the people who gave out of their wealth, and they only gave a part of what they had.
00:14:35
Speaker
We've been talking lately about being who God made us to be and to use what he gave us to use and to ah be...

Human Relationships and God

00:14:44
Speaker
growing with it.
00:14:46
Speaker
When we read the story about the servants who were each given just one piece of money, that that symbolizes the gifts that people were given, are given. So God gives us resources.
00:14:58
Speaker
He gives us gifts. He gives us work to do. And we are meant to do everything to the best of our ability. We're not to be stingy with it.
00:15:09
Speaker
We're not to say, You know, oh, I'll give some time. Oh, i will I will do a little bit. We were created with a purpose.
00:15:20
Speaker
It's not just to live a life. We are to live our life to further the kingdom of God. There is something that all of us can be doing. We are meant to be serving one another.
00:15:32
Speaker
And it's it's great when we do little bits here and there to help, but we want to give all that we can. This is ah big purpose. yeah We can't do too much.
00:15:45
Speaker
We want to be sure that we are giving out of everything that we have, not just our extra time, not just our extra resources. This woman, this story is talking about just tithing.
00:16:01
Speaker
that they gave money for offering and tithe, and they still had some left. Are we spending our lives, our whole lives, for and living for Jesus? Or are we giving Jesus only a part of our life?
00:16:17
Speaker
So that is our daily application today. We are meant to give Jesus and to serve Jesus with our whole life, not simply a part of our lives. But the whole life, we are to love Jesus and God with all of our heart, all of our mind, all of our strength, and all of our soul.
00:16:39
Speaker
And it's the same thing with how we are to serve him and live our lives with him. He doesn't want just a part of our lives. He wants all of our lives.
00:16:50
Speaker
God is zealous for us. He wants us for himself. God told us that when he gave us the commandments. He says, I am a jealous God. And you know, one of the things that I've i've talked with people individually about is that We can have a tendency to be in a relationship and we can want that person to give us all of their time or at least like most of it.
00:17:19
Speaker
And we get very upset sometimes when we don't feel that people are giving us enough of their time. If we feel like that with one another, how much more so does God feel like that with us?
00:17:33
Speaker
God created us. We belong to him. And we're going to take that a step further. People are not meant to satisfy and fulfill our longing for connection and that attention.
00:17:48
Speaker
we We can't possibly give a person all the attention that they want all the time. We would call that needy or dependent. We are meant to to have our own lives and to do our own good works.
00:18:05
Speaker
And we are meant to spend time with people, you know, and and and as ah and of an appropriate amount of time for relationship that we exist together, but we also exist apart.
00:18:19
Speaker
But you see with God, we are never apart from him. He is always with us. So every part of our lives should belong to him. Everything we do in our lives, we should be doing with him and God never, never,
00:18:37
Speaker
thinks we are wanting too much of him. That's exactly what God wants us to do. Instead of chasing the person that we are in a relationship with down to say, you know, I want you to spend all of your time with me.
00:18:55
Speaker
That's the way we need to be chasing God down. He is the one that will never say, too much, too much. I need some personal space.
00:19:05
Speaker
Sometimes mamas and daddies, we just need, we need some personal space, don't we? But God doesn't. God doesn't.

Conclusion and Audience Interaction

00:19:16
Speaker
So I want to encourage us to live our lives fully for with God.
00:19:23
Speaker
Make God a part of all of your life. Everything that we do. We have a voice in our head that we use to talk to ourselves. And i believe that that voice is not really meant for talking to ourselves, but that it's meant for talking to God.
00:19:43
Speaker
When we are thinking about things and pondering things, instead of directing our conversation to ourselves, we need to be directing that conversation to God. That would be giving all of what we am and all of what we are and all of what we have to God, not just giving him our extra time.
00:20:06
Speaker
Make sense? That is our daily application today. So while we may have looked at that story and thought it was just about money, it can also be used to discuss our personal relationship with God and giving all we have to be with him.
00:20:25
Speaker
Well, thank you for joining me today. i hope that you feel that God has lit your light and given you something to think about. I hope that you are encouraged to abide with Jesus. we mean That means to live with him.
00:20:38
Speaker
He is already here with us. He is in you. He is in me. He's promised that he will never leave us. He will never forget us. We just have a tendency to forget about him.
00:20:53
Speaker
So let's remember where we are. We are connected to to God through his Holy Spirit and Jesus. Let's not take that for granted and and just give him little bits of ourselves here and there.
00:21:07
Speaker
Let's give him all of us. Well, hope that you have a wonderful day, whatever day you are getting around to listening or watching this September 25th daily reading out of our Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
