If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year

Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages

Today's reading will cover Luke Chapter 25:1-13, 31-46.

Today we will read about Jesus reminding us to be on guard and ready for Him at any time  to return because He absolutely WILL return someday and NO ONE knows when it will be. We do not want to be unaware and unprepared.  We will also read about how Jesus will separate the talkers from the doers like the way a shepherd separates his goats from his sheep once he gathers them all. Those people who follow Jesus, love, care for, and serve others  by caring for peoples' physical needs such as food, water, shelter, and clothing will be like the sheep and will be admitted into God's Kingdom,  whereas those who are uncaring about those who need food, water,  clothing, a place to stay, someone to take care of them when they are sick, or someone to care for them/look after them when they are in prison will be like the goats. The sheep will be saved whereas the goats, Jesus tells us, not be allowed to enter God's Holy Kingdom.  Let us make sure that we are a community of sheep, taking care of others, looking after those God places in our path to show kindness and love. Jesus tells  us that when we care for others it is the same as though we had cared for HIM! Proverbs 19:17  tells us that anyone who is kind to the poor is really lending to God and God will reward him for their good deeds! Lend away, dear brothers and sisters- God's repayment and rewards for doing so will be awaiting for us when we get to Heaven!

Introduction and Purpose of Bible Reading

00:00:03
Speaker
Welcome back everybody. Today is September 26th and we are here for our daily Bible reading through the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:14
Speaker
I am so glad that we are reading this Bible this year. i am just really understanding God's Word and I am in loving doing it. How about you?
00:00:26
Speaker
am using my calendar to mark off my days. How about you? Are you using your calendar? If you are, go ahead and take that out and get your sticker, maybe your crayon, maybe your pen, and get ready to mark it off because we are going to hear the Bible today.
00:00:45
Speaker
We are almost done. We have only four more days of this month. Oh my gosh. This month is just flying by.

Significance of the Feast of Tabernacles

00:00:53
Speaker
And I do want to keep us in mind for another one of God's Moedim, which means appointed days.
00:00:59
Speaker
Next week coming, or in the next two weeks coming up on October 7th, we have what's called the Feast of Tabernacles. And that occurs, I believe it's on a Tuesday, September or October seventh And so that is the day that we already have ready our temporary tent set up, maybe in our backyard or somewhere on ah somewhere out in the front, in the back, somewhere in the house where we can see the stars.
00:01:30
Speaker
And this is to remind us of the time when God led the Israelites out of Egypt and he lived with them. He tabernacled with them for those 40 years.
00:01:43
Speaker
And he wants us to remember to do this because he's also going to be coming back and doing it again. And the next time he comes, it will be Jesus and he will be sitting on the throne here and on earth.
00:01:59
Speaker
And so we are to remember that time, just like we read yesterday about the rapture and his presence will be announced with the great Shafar blast from heaven.
00:02:10
Speaker
And then all of Jesus' believers will be swept away into the rapture. And so we're going to be discussing a little bit more of that or hearing more about that in our reading today.
00:02:26
Speaker
And he's going to be telling us about that with a parable, a story.

Parable of the Ten Young Women

00:02:31
Speaker
And the first one is called Lamps. Ten Lamps.
00:02:37
Speaker
This comes to us from the book of Matthew, chapter 25. Now Jesus told them a story. It was about the time when he would come back. The kingdom of heaven will be like ten young people, he said.
00:02:53
Speaker
They weren't married, but they were going to a wedding party. They were all young girls, and they were going to be with the groom. All the young women brought their lamps with them.
00:03:06
Speaker
Now five of these young women were foolish, and they didn't bring any oil to keep their lamps lit. Now five of them were wise, and they brought extra oil in jars.
00:03:18
Speaker
It took a very long time for the groom to come, and in fact, they went to sleep. In the middle of the night, a voice called out, Here comes the groom!
00:03:30
Speaker
Come and meet him! and all the young women woke up, They lit their lamps. But the foolish women had run out of oil.
00:03:42
Speaker
They said, Our lamps! They're going out! Give us some of your oil. Now the wise women said, ah what we don't have enough for us and you too.
00:03:54
Speaker
You will have to go to the store and buy your own oil. So the foolish young women went to the store. And while they were gone... The groom came.
00:04:07
Speaker
The young people who were there with him, who were there went with him. And they went to the wedding party. The door closed behind them. Now sometime later, the other young women came.
00:04:21
Speaker
And they called out, Open the door! Let us in! But the groom said, don't know you.

Righteousness through Kindness and Service

00:04:31
Speaker
so what Because you do not know when I will come, said Jesus.
00:04:41
Speaker
I will come back, said Jesus, and all the angels will come with me. All the nations will come together in front of me. They will see me as the king of my kingdom.
00:04:54
Speaker
And then i will put the people into two different groups. A shepherd puts his sheep into one group, said Jesus, and he puts the goats into another group.
00:05:08
Speaker
I will put people who are my sheep into one group and they will be on my right side. I will put people who are like goats on my left.
00:05:21
Speaker
And then I will talk to the people on my right. I will say, come, my father has good things for you. So come and get what he is giving you.
00:05:32
Speaker
It's his kingdom and it has been ready for you since the world was made.
00:05:41
Speaker
I will say to them, I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I needed a place to stay and you asked me to come in.
00:05:56
Speaker
needed clothes and you gave me clothes. I was sick and you took care of me. i was in jail and you came to see me.
00:06:10
Speaker
Now the people who did what's right will wonder. They will say, Lord, when did we see you hungry? when did we give you food? food When did we give you a drink?
00:06:23
Speaker
And when did you need a place to stay? When did we ask you to come in?
00:06:33
Speaker
When did we give clothes to you? When were you sick? When were you in jail and when did we come to see you? Then I will say to them, you did these things for other people.
00:06:51
Speaker
You did these things for people who don't seem important at all. And that is when you did them for me.
00:07:01
Speaker
And then I will talk to the people on my left. Go away from me, I will say. Go into the fire that burns forever. It has been made ready for the devil and his helpers.
00:07:15
Speaker
I will say to them, I was hungry, but you didn't give me any food. I was thirsty, but you did not give me anything to drink. I needed a place to stay, but you left me outside.
00:07:31
Speaker
I needed clothes, but you didn't give me any. I was sick, I was in jail, but you did not take care of me. And the people who didn't do what's right will wonder too.
00:07:46
Speaker
Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty? And when did you need clothes or a place to stay? When were you sick or in jail? And then I will say to them, you never did these things for others.
00:08:05
Speaker
You never did these things for people who don't seem important. So you left me out too.
00:08:15
Speaker
And these shall go off to punishment that lasts for forever. But those who did right will go into life that lasts forever.
00:08:29
Speaker
Amen. That is the end of our reading to- today.
00:08:36
Speaker
I wanted to talk about our last parable here, when Jesus says that ah the people who were kind to the other people had but also but had really been kind to him and had done things for him.

Compassion for the Poor and Aligning with Jesus' Teachings

00:08:52
Speaker
This actually fu fulfills and is what is talked about in Proverbs 19, verse 17. One who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord.
00:09:03
Speaker
And the Lord will reward him for his good deed. So Jesus is not even teaching something new other than the fact that he is saying that since he is the presence of God on earth, that when people are turning away others and are not caring for others, God is telling us that it's the same as if we hadn't cared for him.
00:09:31
Speaker
And that's very serious. We want to be sure that we are being compassionate to other people. I know that I see signs up everywhere that say, no panhandling. If you need assistance, call like 811 or something like that.
00:09:48
Speaker
People are bothered by people asking for money, asking for food. They have signs everywhere, in the middle of the streets where they have the the dividers where people stand.
00:10:01
Speaker
There are signs when you just get off the freeway that say don't support panhandling. And we just read the other day that the love of most will grow cold. And what they're trying to do is discourage people from accepting charity or for asking for charity from others rather than seeking assistance which is just a different kind of ah guided charity, in order to try to get them back into a working society. Now, some people may not want to do that, and that is their choice.
00:10:39
Speaker
ah But there are others that we may know, like anywhere, if like if we see somebody at work who needs something, or even if we choose to to feed the people who are out on the street asking for food or for money.
00:10:54
Speaker
It's not for us to decide whether they need to work or whether they are ah scamming us. I know that I've heard people say they're just scamming.
00:11:05
Speaker
they're They're not really the ah poor. they They make more money than I do. And the thing is, is that that's a judgment. It is not for us to judge.
00:11:17
Speaker
That is God's place. If they are guilty of sin, then they will be answering to that when they see God. But if you are moved with compassion, then it is to our benefit and it's to their benefit that we help provide for people.
00:11:37
Speaker
Sometimes it might be in somebody that we know. Sometimes it might be people at church, somebody who has less than us. It can be even just as simple as passing along kids' hand-me-down clothes or our own clothes.
00:11:55
Speaker
I know that ah I always, I think about this every time ah I'm in my closet and I see that particular shirt that that you gave me, Julie, when I popped over and i brought you guys some things.
00:12:10
Speaker
And i wasn't expecting you to give me anything back, but you were going through some clothes and you said, and you looked at this shirt and you said,
00:12:22
Speaker
do you like this shirt? Is this your style? And I just pulled it right over my regular clothes and said, yep, that fits. I love it. Thank you. I'll put this on my rotation.
00:12:33
Speaker
i It's just as simple as that. you know, it's just sharing. We talked earlier, a couple of, maybe a week or so ago, it's not that long ago, but about those who want to be great need to serve others.
00:12:48
Speaker
And so all of these things that Jesus is talking about are ways that we can serve others. We can serve others by by feeding, by offering people something to drink, and by just caring for them if they are sick.
00:13:05
Speaker
Anything to show that we are caring about other people. That's what God wants us to do. He wants us to love and care about one another. And God loves and cares about all of us.
00:13:19
Speaker
So if he can love and care about all of us, and we should too. And not because we are obligated to, but because we care about people.
00:13:32
Speaker
And don't worry about judging people as to whether you think that they should be asking or whether you feel that they deserve something. When your heart is is led to be compassionate, be compassionate.
00:13:47
Speaker
Proverbs 19 verse 17, we just read, says, One who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and the Lord will reward him for his good deed.
00:14:01
Speaker
So what's important is that we are compassionate and caring about one another.

Encouragement and Commitment to Faith

00:14:06
Speaker
Let's not judge people and decide whether they actually need something or whether, oh, they would be better off if they had just done this.
00:14:13
Speaker
That's not what we're called to do. That's the adversary's job is to accuse. When we're judging, that's another word for accus accusation. We are accusing people and that's not our job.
00:14:27
Speaker
I say Satan does enough... of his own job at that. Let's leave him with that job and let's worry about the business of caring about other people, shall we? And it's just a bonus that God will reward us for it because he knows our hearts.
00:14:46
Speaker
He will know whether we are doing it simply to try to earn a reward or whether we are doing it because we actually care about people. Let's practice caring and serving other people, shall we?
00:15:00
Speaker
All right. Well, thank you for joining me for today's reading. i hope that you feel that God has lit your light today and and hope you enjoyed our daily application of caring for others, knowing that really we are caring for Jesus.
00:15:16
Speaker
So I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your day, whatever day you get around to watching or listening to this September 26th daily reading out of our Day by Day Kids Bible.
00:15:27
Speaker
And if you do feel that God has lit your light, I'd like to encourage you to click that light button. Do you know what that light button is? It looks like a thumbs up.
00:15:38
Speaker
It looks like a heart. It looks like a share button. But it's really a light. We are wanting to draw people to Jesus. We want other people to read and hear about God's word so that they will know that they need to be caring and compassionate for others as well.
00:15:56
Speaker
Because it's just like they were doing it for Jesus. And we want to spread the word about reading God's word. So if you have any questions, you can leave me a comment and I will get back with you.
00:16:11
Speaker
Otherwise, will be right here for tomorrow's daily reading whenever day you get around to it. Just remember to use your bookmarking commitment calendar and that will tell you where you left off.
00:16:23
Speaker
All right, well, thank you very much and you have a fantastic rest of your day today.
