Solo Episode Focus: Systems, Sales, and Growth

00:00:41
Speaker
And I am your host, Tiffany Orr, and my lovely co-host and twin flame, Jessica, is not with me today. This is a solo episode and it's going to be a value-packed episode for you and probably a little bit of a quicker episode. i personally love shorter podcast episodes that I can, you know, listen on like my 20-minute walk.
00:01:04
Speaker
Probably going to go a little bit beyond that, but Today's episode is all about systems, sales, and seasons of growth, and what's possibly holding you back in business. So I'm really excited to get into it. Before we get into it today, though, I want to give you guys a couple little um call to actions at the beginning of the episode. We typically do those at the end of our episodes, but I'm going to give them to you first so that in case you you know don't make it through the whole episode or if you start it and then
00:01:35
Speaker
come back later, you actually have what you need to know right here in the beginning. And you can do those little call to actions first and foremost, because they are really important.

Community Gratitude and Podcast Mission

00:01:45
Speaker
So first, I would love to welcome you guys back to the Beyond Aesthetics podcast. This is such a passion-fueled purpose and mission that Jess and I are on to elevate the aesthetics industry and beauty industry as a whole and really raise that vibration for estheticians and being professionals around the world.
00:02:06
Speaker
And the impact that it creates in your guys' life really... is so much bigger than just and i and we have so much love and gratitude for this community that we're building and we're just so so grateful that you're here so if you're here listening um to this to this episode or any of our episodes and you're following us on social media and you're giving us your feedback we really do want you to know how much we value you how we love the connections that we're creating with you and we're just so so grateful that you can
00:02:38
Speaker
you can share in this purpose because it really is like this co-creation that's deep from the heart and the soul. I also want to give you guys a quick reminder to make sure you are following us on Instagram because we do give ton of value away on our Instagrams as well. That doesn't always necessarily come to the podcast or it might come in different ways or at later dates.
00:03:00
Speaker
So you want to be sure that you're following all of us. So make sure to follow the podcast itself at the beyond aesthetics. um And then you want to make sure that you're following me at Sweet Cheeks University and then following Jessica as well at the underscore SD SD is spelled E-S-T-H-I underscore coach.
00:03:19
Speaker
So let me say that again at the underscore SD. That's a T-H-I-S-T underscore coach. So make sure following all three of us, slide into our debt DMs. We love to connect. We'd love to chat. We'd love to help you with maybe anything that you're going through. i absolutely love it when one of you like slides in and says, Hey, I've been following the podcast.
00:03:40
Speaker
I've learned so much and I have this going on and you help me with it. It's actually one of my favorite things to do. So don't hesitate to reach out and slide into our DMS.

Masterclasses and Educational Offers

00:03:51
Speaker
I also want to make sure that you know what our current offers are so that you can take advantage of, you know, the, the extra magic that we, that Jess and I offer outside of the podcast. um so Jessica has a retail sales master class.
00:04:09
Speaker
It is the most valuable class I think I've ever taken in my life. And for my businesses, she is the retail sales queen and her approach to sales itself is not even really about sales. It's really about heartfelt service.
00:04:28
Speaker
And it's just such a value packed course. She does have availability for that. um If you're interested, if you're somebody who struggles with retail sales, and you really feel like you can't get over that barrier of feeling salesy, or you kind of get in your head about it, and you don't know what to say, or you just feel like you're, you don't know how to approach it with your clients and sales. I mean, like sales in general, as sales can mean in product sales, retail sales, they can mean sales of your services themselves. They can mean like selling you and your business. It really is like this whole encompassing approach.
00:05:06
Speaker
It's not just about selling retail. So even if you're an esthetician who maybe doesn't sell retail products, um And you have services and treatments that you are struggling to get bookings for in your it really is valuable. And i highly recommend taking her class.
00:05:23
Speaker
And it is so affordable. Like it's incredible that Jess is still giving this course away at the price that she is. Cause I think it's like a three hour course. Um, and I know that she does offer it virtually as she does do um, in person too, through like zoom.
00:05:40
Speaker
Um, so there is some options for how you can take that course with her highly recommend it. If you want to know more about what it entails, what it costs, um, if it's for you or not just shoot Jess a DM.
00:05:53
Speaker
Again, it's at the underscore SD underscore coach on Instagram. And she would love to connect with you and give you um some information on her retail sales masterclass. Highly, highly recommend it.
00:06:06
Speaker
I have a free Brazilian wax masterclass online course that I'm offering right now. This is a virtual course, completely free.
00:06:16
Speaker
to any esthetician, any licensed beauty professional, and any current student going to beauty school right now and to learn and master the art of intimate waxing. Brazilian waxing is my personal passion.
00:06:31
Speaker
um I had a terrible crash course in aesthetic school 14 years ago, came out of aesthetic school, licensed and, you know, deemed capable by my state to offer Brazilian waxing. And it just was something that I knew that I wanted to incorporate in my business.
00:06:49
Speaker
And I didn't know how. So I spent tons and tons of money, tons and tons of time learning how to do a proper bri Brazilian wax and a lot of trial and error, you know, God bless my clients in those early months who you know, trusted me and trusted the process and understood that I was a brand new esthetician who did not have a proper intimate waxing education.
00:07:17
Speaker
And they still stuck with me through it. So I've taken my years of knowledge, um, around brisbane and intimate waxing as a whole and condensed it into this online course, a very teachable method.
00:07:29
Speaker
And, um, and it really is just like, so important to me that aestheticians everywhere feel confident. doing brisley and waxing because it is such a powerful service to offer to your clientele.
00:07:43
Speaker
And I know that it's not for everyone. Not every esthetician or cosmetologist out there is going to feel like offering Brazilian waxing is for you and that's totally okay. But I know that there are thousands and thousands of you out there across the country around the world who would like to offer it. And you don't have the skills and the knowledge and the know-how and the confidence to offer it in a safe and trusting way.
00:08:10
Speaker
Um, you know, and a proper way. So we're not like hurting the skin and the hair and our clients. And so that's really the passion behind this Brazilian wax masterclass. And, um, so you can access that online course at sweet cheeks, university.com. Again, it's completely complimentary. You get certified at the end of the course, you get your training certificate. And then if you are somebody who really wants to like go a step beyond that, I do offer in-person Brazilian wax training for you and or your team.
00:08:42
Speaker
So I come to you wherever you're at and we do a full hands-on day of training with actual clients. and so the course itself gives you that foundation with all of the, um, the, how to the skills and knowledge,
00:08:58
Speaker
everything that you need to know how. And then I come to you and we put it together in real time so that you can actually like come out the doors swinging and start making money immediately, start booking Brazilian web science immediately and like feel confident right out the gate.
00:09:16
Speaker
So that's an option too. So if you're interested in doing hands-on training with me, You can reach out to me. You can slide into my DMS to at sweet cheeks, university on Instagram, Facebook, even took talk. I'm over there too.
00:09:29
Speaker
and just coordinate with me. And, um, I can tell you a little bit about what that would look like. Um, ah my availability costs, all that, all of that and stuff. So definitely reach out.
00:09:39
Speaker
Um, it really is a passion of mine. I can wax all day, every day. can wax with my eyes closed. It really is so much more than just the, the wax and the service itself. It's really about empowering women to love their skin, like from the inside out and to feel confident in their body.
00:09:55
Speaker
and giving them a really safe space to do that in. It's just so powerful. I love it so much. um And then we definitely want you rate and review of the podcast. It really does mean the world to us when you leave us a rating and a review.
00:10:11
Speaker
And it helps us in our purpose and our mission to serve more estheticians and beauty professionals around the world. And so we're deeply grateful for those ratings and reviews. um So I prompt you to do that as well.
00:10:22
Speaker
One last call to action before I forget, Sweet Cheeks Waxing and Skincare. That is my skincare business that I own and operate here in Salmon, Idaho. We are hiring... two full-time estheticians.
00:10:34
Speaker
This is like these opportunities do not come very often, especially in our rural small town. And I'm really so excited about it. We have a base, a thriving business here in salmon Idaho.
00:10:50
Speaker
Um, and we have two treatment rooms. we are one of the leading eminence, organic skincare retailers in Idaho. Um, we offer You know me, I offer like all of the education and training and anything you want to know and learn. You're like, you have me at your fingertips to help lead you and guide you through that um as your leader. And then we have this amazing community who supports Sweet Cheeks and this loyal client base. And it's just, I, it's my heart and soul. And I'm really so excited to grow our team.
00:11:26
Speaker
And to bring two more amazing estheticians into Sweet Cheeks. So if you are interested in applying for the position, you can email your resume and cover letter to hello at SweetCheeksWaxingSkinCare.com. I'm going to say that one more time.
00:11:42
Speaker
Email your resume and your cover letter. to hello at sweet cheeks, waxy and skincare.com that will drop right into my inbox. I will review those and then reach out to you accordingly. If you have questions about the position on like what it pays, what the schedule and expectations are what that could look like for you, especially if you're somebody who is interested in relocating to salmon, Idaho,
00:12:06
Speaker
Again, shoot me a DM at Sweet Cheeks University. You can even shoot me a DM on our Sweet Cheeks page at Sweet Cheeks Waxing Skin Care. It is only me that checks those DMs. There's nobody else linked to that account, just FYI.
00:12:17
Speaker
um I will accept any and all employees because I'm really, really excited to grow our team. Okay, and enough about that.

Personal Experiences and Reflections

00:12:25
Speaker
um A little bit of personal life updates and some business updates for you. It's been several weeks since I've actually recorded, just as recorded our last couple episodes solo.
00:12:37
Speaker
um Last week I had the week off from work. I actually had surgery on my deviated septum. It's been a week ago, Monday. So actually, if that sounds like I'm a little bit congested, that's why I'm still definitely in the healing process.
00:12:54
Speaker
I feel a ton better. Surgery was an experience. I had never had anesthesia before. And honestly, like my whole focus and worry about the process itself was only on the anesthesia. I was like scared to death about that.
00:13:11
Speaker
That turned out to be not a thing at all. It was literally like, you know, you're here one next or you're here one minute and then you're literally gone. And then you wake back up and it's all over. It was the weirdest experience ever.
00:13:24
Speaker
if you, if you're worried about anesthesia and you are like, I'll have this possible surgery coming up. It's not a thing. It's actually not scary at all. And it's actually really kind of nice because you like, I didn't dream.
00:13:37
Speaker
I definitely didn't feel anything. And it was over so quick. The surgery itself was about an hour. And for those of you that don't know, like a deviated septum, that's in your like nasal cavity where it's like collapsed or deviated and you really can't breathe out of your nose. I think I've always had a deviated septum. I think I was born that way.
00:13:58
Speaker
i think it's just my anatomy. and it's gotten worse over the last several years. Like I literally cannot breathe out of my nose and I'm a mouth. I've always been a mouth sleeper.
00:14:08
Speaker
And then the last couple years I've started snoring, which, you know, has been embarrassing and kind of an issue with my husband. And so anyways, it was just time. I'm really, really glad to be on the other side of it though.
00:14:20
Speaker
Surgery was harder than I expected. um, my, I, my face and my nose and actually my teeth and my mouth are still really tender the first few days though. was rough. Like i felt like I got sucker punched right at my nose.
00:14:36
Speaker
I couldn't breathe. and My nose was draining blood. it was just this whole thing. And I just like felt sick. Like I had been sick, even though I wasn't sick. And it has me so, so grateful to like be able to choose the selective surgery and to be able to go into it so healthy and well, and now to be on the other side of it and to have this healthy body and to be able to heal from it. And so I was in the shower this morning, just kind of reflecting on this last week.
00:15:06
Speaker
It just really has me so grateful for like a healthy body and to, again, like just be able to choose that, even though it was something hard, it's, it's really nice when we get to choose our heart and that's,
00:15:19
Speaker
something that I really lean into a lot. Like this was a hard thing and I chose it And I'm so grateful that it was by choice and not by happenstance. You know, there's so many people out there who have things happen to them, like health problems or accidents. And those are such hard things and you don't get to choose those. And so having so much gratitude around this really has helped me through the hard and to get on the other side of it and just be so, so grateful.
00:15:48
Speaker
And, um, I will say I still can't confidently say that the septum surgery has been worth it. Cause i still can't really breathe great out of my nose because there's still a lot of inflammation in there.
00:16:01
Speaker
So I will keep you guys posted on when I'm a little bit farther away. from the healing and if it's been worth it it or not. And believe it or not, like i heard, I shared on my social media after surgery and what I was going through. And there were so many people that reached out that said they have a deviated septum too, and that they need surgery too.
00:16:22
Speaker
And to let them know how it goes. I actually only heard from like two people that had had that surgery done. and They were really sending their well wishes and love. And I really appreciate them for it because they know how hard it was to recover from that. And that it just wasn't a very fun experience.
00:16:38
Speaker
um And, but they did say that it was worth it on the other side of that. So I will keep you guys posted how that's going, but it really, the surgery itself taught me a lot of patience and just being present. And I was also so grateful to actually just have the week off from work and have a slower week, even though i didn't feel good.
00:16:57
Speaker
I'm always so grateful to be able to have businesses that I can step away from that still run themselves because the systems and processes and teams I have in place that I've worked hard to put in place.
00:17:11
Speaker
So we're going to get into a little bit of that here in a minute of why systems and processes are so important so that when things do come up but in life, when life happens, when we choose to step away, our businesses can still perform without us. And that really is the goal. um Instead of, you know, so we can create a life around our business.
00:17:31
Speaker
we can create ah life around our business, not ah not our business around our life. I'm hoping I'm saying that correctly. But we really want our business to fit inside of our life and be able to have choices and authority all over how you know our life is run, not because of our business, but because ah it's by choice and by purpose.
00:17:55
Speaker
And um we don't want our businesses to run us, if that makes any sense. I also celebrated my 39th birthday last week. It was actually Saturday. um And it was... Birthdays are hard for me, you guys.
00:18:12
Speaker
I am always, always, always so raw on my birthdays. And i don't know if it's a cancer thing. I don't know if it's a, you know, I can't even say it's like an almost 40 thing because even as a kid, i I've always been so emotional on my birthday.
00:18:29
Speaker
And it was a great day. i spent it with my kids and my husband and we went to Montana for the weekend and it was also a hard day too. so I'm not even going to sugarcoat It was just a hard day. I've just get so emotional around my birthday, even when nothing's wrong.
00:18:44
Speaker
And so I don't know if it's some sort of stored, don't even want to say trauma because that sounds extreme, but I was kind of thinking this morning, like, why are my birthday is so hard? But I know I'm not the only one. I know there's so many women, especially out there who have a hard time on their birthday.
00:19:03
Speaker
And so it's almost like, if I can explain this right without sounding too crazy, but it's almost like on my birthday, there's this portal that opens and everything is just intensified and raw and and can flow through, if that makes any sense, kind of like probably how a portal opens on the day we're born.
00:19:27
Speaker
And so maybe that just carries with us for our whole human life experience on our birthday. i don't even know. i also was thinking about, you know, what kind of you We'll call it trauma for lack of a better word that I absorbed from my own mom.
00:19:45
Speaker
So my mom had me when she was 17, barely 17. And so she was, you know, a kid having a kid. And I know at the time when she had me, she didn't have a great support system.
00:19:56
Speaker
Things were really rocky with her parents. And in her life, and she was trying to finish high school. And, you know, my dad was only 19, barely as well when I was born. So like, literally, i have teenage parents.
00:20:08
Speaker
And so that too, I wonder if I have some sort of stored something in my like, essence. Um, from that experience as well.
00:20:20
Speaker
You know, I was there when I was born, but I wasn't there. Right. And so I I've heard stories and I'm sure the stories I've heard don't even equate to how hard it was for my mom as a teenage mother. Um, and so maybe that too, like, I just, I'm super curious about it.
00:20:36
Speaker
Um, I'm sure there's some science behind it that I haven't actually dove into yet. Um, and While at the same time, while birthdays are so hard, I'm glad to be on the other side of my birthday because I like tend to like try not to build myself up as my birthday comes. I'm just like, it's going to be a great day. I'm not going to cry this year. I'm not going to like, you know, have these great expectations. And I really don't, but I still end up really, really emotional. So whatever that's about, I am so grateful to be on the other side of it. And I'm so grateful for 39 years or around the sun and to still be here. i kind of like,
00:21:09
Speaker
You know, part of me just has wondered, i think as we all do, like how long are we actually going to be here for? And when is that end date going to come? And part of me really is shocked that I'm still here at 39 years old. And I know that sounds kind of crazy, but I'm so, so grateful. And, um,
00:21:27
Speaker
Just, it makes me, that I'm on the other side of my birthday and my emotions are a little bit more regulated, I am back in gratitude and I am so, so grateful to be 39 years old for the life that I've built, or um for everything that I have and the amazing people that I have in my life. And it really does come down to that and the support systems that I have. And um it really does matter in all of my purposes, especially my businesses, because they are such a big part of my life.
00:21:58
Speaker
So I'm just super, super grateful. So I am so grateful to everybody who sent their well wishes for my birthday, like on social media and via text and all of the messages I received. It really does mean so much. And I truly value each and every one of you who did take the time to send that my way because i actually was having a hard day and I know I didn't share that with anyone.
00:22:19
Speaker
But there were a few people in particular who like went extra out of their way to send their love and appreciation for me. And it really did like kind of carry me through that hard emotional space that I was in on my birthday. And so you'll never know how much that means to me. And I will love and cherish you forever for it.
00:22:39
Speaker
So thank you.

Family Dynamics and Business Planning

00:22:41
Speaker
um And then it's also mid-summer. It's mid-July ah For those of you with kids, I'm sending my love.
00:22:51
Speaker
We've had such a great summer. So I have three kiddos. If you're new to this podcast, they are 11 and nine and eight. So it's boy, girl, boy. And my kids are, have been having a like, they are living their best life. This is the first summer where they've actually gotten to have like a little bit of freedom because they're kind of at a little bit of older stage. So Now they can like ride their bicycles to town with like their money that they've been earning and go to the gas station and buy like a soda and a treat.
00:23:19
Speaker
And they can ride across town to their granny's house from their papa's house and like all by themselves, you know? And so that is like been so huge for them. And they've been sleeping down in the tent every night all summer.
00:23:31
Speaker
we have a pond on our property that's, you know, kind of below our house, our, where like we reside. you kind of walk down this long hill and they have a tent set up down there by the pond and the ducks. So it feels like they're like quote unquote camping away from the house.
00:23:45
Speaker
And so they've been doing that all summer and they've just been like kind of really independent and it's been kind of great. And they're eating me out of house and home and we still have like the board discussions.
00:23:58
Speaker
They're like, I'm bored. And always tell my kids, if you're bored, I will give you something to do if you don't go find something to do. Because, you know, there's no reason why you should be bored. And there's no reason why you should be, you know, locked onto a screen all day. Like, go outside, go find something to do. If you don't, I will find you something to do. And you're not going to like it because it's going to be a chore.
00:24:19
Speaker
And so midsummer always like brings me to this space with my kids of like, i so I want it to last forever because it's flying by, like can't even believe it's mid-July. And like I'm getting there to where it's time to go back to school and routine because like I said, they're eating me out of house and home. They're still super busy, even though they're kind of independent. and they're just kind of like getting to that blah summer stage where they've done all the things. And now it's like, they want constant entertainment. And but I'm just like, not that type of mom.
00:24:54
Speaker
So all the moms out there, aye feel you. If you're in that like midsummer slump cherish it, hang on to it. Like I said, especially if you're in a space where your kids are little, little, my kids are still relatively little, but we're also getting to that big hit stage and time is like flying by. And so i really am trying to cherish it and hold onto it.
00:25:17
Speaker
And also when it comes like back to the aesthetic side of things, midsummer can be a role too in business. It can feel like, you know, um, like where are your clients and what are they doing and why are they booking with you or buying with you? Because I think everybody's just in that space of like,
00:25:35
Speaker
We want to pack in all the fun and do all the fun things. And we know that like routine and reality with back to school is right around the corner. So it might feel like there's just a little bit of silence in your business. And I want you to know if it feels that way, you are not alone in that. It is just the season and we want to be planning and preparing for the next season right now.
00:26:01
Speaker
And i always think like when there is a lull in my business, when my bookings are down, you know, randomly, when I find myself with more time on my hands, I always like send gratitude to the universe that there is a reason for this.
00:26:16
Speaker
So pay attention, wake up, like what should I be doing right now? What can I be doing right now to prepare for the next? Because as we know, like change is inevitable. There's always a next, there's always, you know, a next month, the next season, a next something on the horizon.
00:26:33
Speaker
And we want to be looking on the horizon for what's coming so that we can be prepared for it. So that we're not just either thrown into it and we're back in like a busy season and we were running around with a chicken, like a chicken with our head cut off. or so we're not just like kind of on cruise control and being complacent about things and just letting the tides take us wherever.
00:26:57
Speaker
That's, I think, where we end up in hot water and where we find where we're either reaching burnout because we're not showing up with intention and in our purpose and dedicating specific time to us first and foremost, but then actual time working on the business instead of in the business and where things can just start to feel like you're feeling a little lost or you're like, what am I doing this for? Like kind of like groundhog day. So we don't want that either. we really want to, to take advantage of the time on our hands. We have right now plan for the future,
00:27:34
Speaker
kind of have our eyes on the horizon and so that we can show up in that next season with purpose, with intention, with action. And again, it comes back to so that we are building and creating and curating and living this life around our business and not the other way around so that our business doesn't end up running us because I see it just, and I see it over and over and over again.
00:27:58
Speaker
And it really is something when we do work with estheticians or beauty professionals, and we kind of have to work backwards from because by the time that happens, there's so many other foundational pieces that have not been put in place from the beginning that we really have to go all the way back to the start.
00:28:15
Speaker
And Jess and only know this because we've been there and we've done it and we've lived it. And so now we can kind of coach and teach it. yeah. Just that midsummer check-in, give yourself a check-in. If you haven't yet, if you're like, man, summer is flying by, i can't even believe it's almost the end of July.
00:28:32
Speaker
Where has June and July gone? Take a pause, take a breath, sit down with a notebook and kind of just evaluate. where you're at, where kind of, you know, run a retrace over the last six months about where you've been.
00:28:48
Speaker
and then I want you to really pause and reflect on really where you want to go, what this next season in your business, what you want it to look like, how you want it to feel for you and your clients, maybe any changes that you want to make come starting fall for your schedule or the holiday season tend tends to be typically super busy for most of us. So what do we want that to look and feel like as well?
00:29:11
Speaker
and write it down, journal about it. That would be my best advice for a starting point is take, take a deep breath, take a pause, really sit and ruminate and meditate on it and do some reflecting.
00:29:25
Speaker
And then we want to also look at that horizon and see if we're on the right track, see how we want things to look and feel for us moving forward. And then we can do some planning from there.
00:29:38
Speaker
Okay.

Upcoming Opportunities for Beauty Professionals

00:29:40
Speaker
Real quick. ball I know it's kind of on my brain um because it's literally right around the corner. it probably is on your guys' minds too.
00:29:49
Speaker
We have our, Jess and I are so, so excited because our mastermind groups are restarting in September and they run our fall slash winter mastermind runs from the beginning of September through the beginning of January.
00:30:03
Speaker
And we actually have two mastermind groups going this round because we had so many of you sign up and we're so, so excited. We've already started that onboarding process with everyone enrolled in the mastermind group.
00:30:16
Speaker
And we have them doing their discovery process and working on their workbook so that we can really start the mastermind group calls just straight out the gate and not have to kind of like do all of this introductory work. We have like, and this is all thanks to Jess. She's curated this program so perfectly.
00:30:36
Speaker
So where it runs really smoothly. So we're really, really excited about that. I do want to throw in here though, if you are interested in joining our mastermind group, reach out to us sooner rather than later.
00:30:48
Speaker
Like I said, both of our groups are full for the fall winter group. We do, we'll have a, um winter spring mastermind group starting either late January, early February, and that runs all through spring, almost to the beginning of summer.
00:31:04
Speaker
And so if you are a beauty professional, an esthetician, a cosmetologist, any sort of beauty professional who really craving community and connection and guidance and support,
00:31:17
Speaker
And you really are wanting to connect with other people in the industry who can help like shine light on you and share their own successes and not even successes, but just story and journey of where they've been. It really is. These groups are so, so magical. They're actually my favorite thing across the board.
00:31:38
Speaker
with what Jess and I do with Beyond Aesthetics as a whole. um I have learned and taken away so much from all of the groups that I've gotten to be a part of, and they really are so, so powerful. And believe it or not, so many of the ah women that join these groups end up staying with us for subsequent subsequent groups because they're that value-packed and because they've just been able to take so, so much away from this connection, these calls that we have.
00:32:08
Speaker
So again, if you are interested in being a part of our mastermind groups, and you want to know what that looks like, what the scheduling would look like, what your commitment to that group would be and the cost, shoot us a DM, or you can email us ah to at or no, no,
00:32:26
Speaker
You can email us at hello at beyond aesthetics, coaching.com. So again, reach out to any of us on social media or send us a quick email to hello at beyond aesthetics, coaching.com.
00:32:39
Speaker
Um, you'll definitely want to get on the wait list. We haven't started in an official wait list yet, but I know there were some that because of scheduling couldn't make the fall slash winter group starting in September. And so they're already on the list for the next week.
00:32:53
Speaker
And then of course, any previous group member gets kind of first dibs if they want to rejoin another group. So again, if you're interested at all, shoot us a DM so you can kind of get on our radar radar and we can put you on the wait list so that we, and it's you don't it's not like a serious commitment. We just kind of want to know a rough idea of who is interested so that we can start planning accordingly and make sure that you get your spot.
00:33:19
Speaker
Um, we also have just a couple spots for one-on-one coaching starting this fall as well. So Jessica and I are one-on-one coaching clients. Um, it's basically like it says we have the mastermind group calls where that's a group container.
00:33:34
Speaker
Um, and then we also offer one-on-one coaching and mentorship. If you want to just work with Jessica and i um, as an individual one-on-one where we can really like create some serious strategy for you.
00:33:49
Speaker
And we create this kind of intense, but in a really good way, roadmap for your specific goals. and everybody that we've coached one-on-one reaches their goals like max speed.
00:34:03
Speaker
Um, it kind of starts out as like, well, this is kind of what I want to do Jess and I come in with an action packed plan and then they're always shocked, like, holy cow, like this is happening so much faster than I thought. And we're like, ye that's the way the universe works.
00:34:17
Speaker
And that's how we show up for you because we, there's like, once, once you say something out loud that has like intention behind it and the universe delivers and then we can come in with actual strategy and action packed items for you to like tick off your list and then it just happens so quickly so that's an option too so again if you're interested in one-on-one coaching we do have i think maybe just two maybe three spots left for the whole fall season and we would love and be honored to work with you so shoot us a dm
00:34:52
Speaker
or email us at hello at beyond aesthetics coaching.com for what that could look like for you as well.

Overcoming Sales Challenges

00:35:00
Speaker
Okay, let's get today's actual episode now that we've kind of caught up and I've given your you your call to action items.
00:35:08
Speaker
And today i want to talk to you about why you're not selling. And this is actually going to be a super simple approach to the reason why you're not selling. And when I mean selling, I'm referring to whether it's retail products, your services and treatments, your bookings, your offers, your sales and promotions, whatever it is that that you are wanting your clients to do,
00:35:37
Speaker
That's what I'm talking about when I'm saying selling. there's actually just such a simple reason behind why you're not. And you want to know why? It's because you're not talking about it.
00:35:50
Speaker
Let me say that again. The reason you are not selling whatever it is you're selling is because you are not talking about it either consistently or authentically for both.
00:36:04
Speaker
So You are your brand. You are the essence behind everything that you do. And it's really you that it's on your shoulders to show up consistently and clearly.
00:36:22
Speaker
in a way that communicates exactly what your clients want you to do. And so when I mean show up, I just mean show up. There's a million different ways that you can show up, but we have to be talking about what we are selling in order for our clients to understand either what we have to offer, what we're trying to convert or what we're trying to like what the messaging is behind what we're trying to relate to our clients, if that makes any sense.
00:36:53
Speaker
So clear communication is high. And for some reason, so many of us, myself included, this has taken me years and I still refer back sometimes.
00:37:04
Speaker
We get in our own way and we get afraid to show up for ourselves because maybe it feels like we're coming across as too salesy. Or we're cringy or, you know, we get these ideals in our heads that our clients can afford our services and treatments and products or x y Z. The list can go on and on and on.
00:37:26
Speaker
But really, if you are in a season in your business where you're like, my sales are down, my bookings are down, or maybe you're like a brand new SD and you're coming out of the gate and you're like, why is nobody...
00:37:37
Speaker
accepting this amazing offer that I have, like I have all of this knowledge, I have these curated services and treatments, I have this product and nobody is buying it It is because you are not consistently showing up and clearly communicating what you want your clients to do. Our clients, let me tell you guys, our clients and followers and communities, they want to buy from us.
00:37:59
Speaker
They want to show up for us because either they have a connection with you and they support you, or they see that you have some really, really great offers and they want to know more about it.
00:38:13
Speaker
And maybe the reason they haven't booked with you yet or bought with you yet is because it's still a little bit unclear on what exactly it is you're trying to do, what exactly it is your offer is what exactly it is in it for them as the client, where does the benefit lie for them?
00:38:31
Speaker
We get in our head that we think it's all about the money. I know I do too. I'm like, man, this is like $118 bottle of serum. That's a lot of money. And then we go down this rabbit hole up and in today's economy and everybody's broke and we're headed for a recession. And let me tell you, that could be further from the truth. The beauty industry itself is actually thriving.
00:38:54
Speaker
Even in today's economy, estheticians are coming out esthetician school at like a rate and And there are so many beauty businesses that are absolutely killing it because they are willing to show up consistently. They're talking about their services and products and they're clearly communicating and educating and serving our clientele in a matter that translates. add again, notice I keep using that word consistently.
00:39:28
Speaker
It's consistent. It's not just a one and done. It's not just a couple times and done. In today's like fast paced world. And now that we're like have the AI capability in our world where we really didn't have that at the rate we do now before it's going to matter so much more that you get really, really clear on who you are, your branding.
00:39:51
Speaker
your authenticity, what you have to offer and how you can clearly communicate that out to the world so that your clients and followers

Email Marketing Importance

00:40:00
Speaker
and community can trust you to actually buy from you. But first and foremost, we have to be talking about it and we have to be talking about it in all the different channels, all the different tools that we have in our toolbox.
00:40:12
Speaker
And doing so in a way that again is authentic to us and clearly explains what it is we're trying to to sell, what it is, how we're trying to serve, what our offer is, the education behind it, all of the things. So i actually have some um some easy ways that you can clearly communicate in a very consistent manner. And they're just tools in your toolbox and many, many different ways. So i'm going to start at the top, email marketing.
00:40:41
Speaker
So again, this isn't all just about social media. There are so many different ways that you can clearly communicate to your community, what it is you have to offer and how you can serve them. So let's start with the email marketing first.
00:40:53
Speaker
This is such a valuable tool to have in your toolbox. Again, it's outside of social media. Remember, we do not own our social media channels.
00:41:04
Speaker
So even if you are say a business or a brand that gets 10,000 followers, you could wake up and it could be gone tomorrow. Literally, I've seen it happen over and over again where big accounts have gotten hacked.
00:41:18
Speaker
They lose all of their followers. They lose all of their content. They lose every single way that they had to communicate with their community literally overnight. And it's devastating, right? Because they've worked so hard to get that amount of followers.
00:41:32
Speaker
They've poured so much time and energy into their social media and all of the content that they've created. And now they're just left with kind of like, they have no way to talk to their their client list because they had all of their eggs in one basket, meaning social media.
00:41:49
Speaker
And that really is like, we don't own it. Instagram could go tits up tomorrow. And so many businesses will go like under, they would tank because that's really all they're relying on to communicate with their customers. So that's why email marketing and having an email client list is so, so valuable. You own that list.
00:42:08
Speaker
You can take that list with you. say for some reason, Instagram, like just becomes irrelevant ah some date, you can have, you take your client list with you, your email marketing list with you. If you were to sell your business, that adds a value to your business that a potential buyer would be interested in because you have this client base and because you have a way to communicate with them, that is yours.
00:42:35
Speaker
So if you are, If you don't have an email marketing list, an email client list yet, we want to start converting our followers on our social media over to our email marketing list.
00:42:48
Speaker
So I know a lot of us here have a booking system and we have our clients information in our booking system. That's kind of what I'm talking about, right? We, um, everybody who sees you in person,
00:43:01
Speaker
You should have their email. You should have their phone number. Obviously you have their name. um that's your client list. And so what is really great is with, we have a presence on social media.
00:43:12
Speaker
we are intentionally driving that social media traffic to our client list as well. So really what I do is I just set up a a Google form on my Instagram or put that link on my Instagram. And then I talk about it often and make sure and remind everybody who is watching my stories, who comes across my feed, who follows me to make sure they sign up for this.
00:43:34
Speaker
to subscribe to my email list so that I can directly communicate with them. Because again, when we talk on social media, it's such a small, small percentage of who actually sees our content, like less than 4%, probably even less than that, to be perfectly honest.
00:43:54
Speaker
And so even when we pour all of this time and energy into a reel or to a feed post, or we hop on our stories, there really is such a small percentage that actually will see that content. So we want to be making sure that we're telling our social media community.
00:44:12
Speaker
what to do and make it super stupid simple for how they can do that. Add that link in your stories directly to that Google form or however you're going to convert those followers into your actual email client list.
00:44:26
Speaker
Make it super, super simple. Or you can do it like a simple prop like DM me um or a reply to the story and I will get you the information to subscribe. However you want to do it, you can put your link in bio, you can have your link tree link,
00:44:41
Speaker
um in your Instagram profile. um We just want to be talking about often. And then we also want to be intentional when we are doing in-person services, right? So say you have somebody pop in that just wants to buy some product.
00:44:57
Speaker
and they're not like a ah consistent client of yours or a current client of yours, when you're checking them out, you want to ask for their name, you want to ask for their email, and you want ask for their phone number and get them into your system so that you can communicate with them. So when you do have a sale or a special or a promotion or an event or some sort of something,
00:45:15
Speaker
that you want to share with your community, you can actually communicate all of that to them. That's going to go directly to their inbox instead of being filtered through the millions of different people and content on social media and just happen, you know, hoping that they will happen upon your post.
00:45:33
Speaker
Does that make sense? We want that email marketing list and it is so, so valuable. So that we can communicate with our clients. Another thing that we come across, I've come across a lot is hosting events.
00:45:46
Speaker
When you host an event, we want to make sure because, you know, nine times out 10, a lot of those people coming to your event. are going to bring a friend or they're going to see your, you know, say your balloons out on the street that are trying to draw people in and they're going to pop in. Right.
00:46:03
Speaker
So when we have any sort of event, especially if we're collaborating with other businesses and we're at a different location, we want to make sure that we're getting all of that traffic. We want all of that information as well. So the simplest way to do this is to literally print off a sheet, put it on a clipboard,
00:46:19
Speaker
and have them write down their name, their email and their phone number. And then you can also, you know, do some sort of incentive. You don't have to, I've done it both ways, but like say you're doing a giveaway in order for them to enter that giveaway basket, you need their information. And then we add that information right into our client list.
00:46:38
Speaker
Make sense? Yes. Okay. Second way that you can clearly communicate with your customers to you know really drive those sales and by sales i i actually mean service is we want to make sure we're having in-person conversations with our clients if we cannot you know recommend home care products tell our clients in person about a specific service or treatment that would really benefit them and their skin goals um share our offers in person
00:47:10
Speaker
you know, ask what their home care routine looks like and help fill in any holes there. If we cannot have those simple conversations in person, none of this, none of the rest of the tips I'm going to give you matters.
00:47:23
Speaker
This actually should be number one. We need to be able to have the confidence to speak up for ourselves and our business because it actually serves our clients better when we can get out of our own way, get out of our own head,
00:47:37
Speaker
and have those raw conversations in person. And we want to make sure we're having them with every single client that walks through our door. We don't want to get complacent here. We don't want to just assume that our clients are going to tell us when they need product or book their service because You shared about this specific treatment once on social media and yep, you, they, you're assuming they probably saw that.
00:48:00
Speaker
And then we're going assume that, well, there's a reason she hasn't booked with it because maybe she doesn't have the money or maybe because she doesn't believe in the treatment itself. No, no, no, no. We're not going to do that.
00:48:12
Speaker
We're going to show up for ourselves every single time. We're going to show up for our clients every single time. And we're going to have those conversations in person. We're going to make sure that we are asking them to rebook when they're in for a service. We want to get them on our schedule. We want to make sure that we are checking in with them and their home care routine and recommending retail products accordingly.
00:48:37
Speaker
We want to make sure that we're actually asking them for their, for Google reviews and following up with them after their service or treatment in real time. You guys, this matters so, so, so much. This is actually like foundational for your aesthetics practice.
00:48:53
Speaker
is we have to have these conversations in person. And i promise you, it does get easier. the more that you do at practice makes perfect. And I won't even say perfect. I actually don't love the word perfect because perfection to me means like, you know, it's really loaded, but really practice does help feel your confidence.
00:49:12
Speaker
And so we want to really make sure that again, we're showing up for ourselves and we're showing up for our clients by asking the hard questions or the uncomfortable questions. And they're really only uncomfortable to us because we're in our head about it.
00:49:27
Speaker
And we wanna make sure that we're just having those real raw conversations in person and not only relying on the other tools in our toolbox to communicate with our clients.
00:49:38
Speaker
Okay. um And next, tool that I have in my toolbox that has served me so well and served my community so well is actually starting a private Facebook group

Authenticity on Social Media

00:49:50
Speaker
on Facebook for my sweet treats community. This is actually where my real community lives. It's not on Instagram.
00:49:58
Speaker
It is where, and again, it's a private group, like anyone can join, but they have to request access. And of course, I'm going to share how they can do that and tell them how they can do that and invite them to join the community.
00:50:11
Speaker
But what I mean by private is it's closed off to just the general public. So not anyone can just peek in and see what's going on. And I know like that in it in and of itself has created some mystery around this group, which has served,
00:50:24
Speaker
me and my community really, really well, because, um, there's curiosity behind it. Right. And it's, um, but all overall, it's just a space where my community for sweet cheeks can be vulnerable. They can ask vulnerable questions.
00:50:40
Speaker
They can share pictures of their skin. They, um, it's been actually such a beautiful process to watch the community itself thrive without me in it. If that makes any sense, because Now these women around the country, they're not just local to salmon, Idaho, have these relationships with other women, you know, in salmon or in Montana or in Nebraska. And they're like, these friendships have been born all because skincare and the safe space that I've created for them.
00:51:13
Speaker
And it's free to join. And it's a way for me to connect directly and communicate directly to my clients as well. So I think it's just as valuable as my email marketing list.
00:51:24
Speaker
um And it's been a really great way to, again, convert social media followers over to this private community. That's really just a really special thing.
00:51:37
Speaker
experience and it's safe and it's trustworthy. And when I do have something important to share with my community, I go to the Facebook community first and foremost, because I know most of them are going to see it.
00:51:49
Speaker
And there's always this hype and excitement behind it from, you know, the VIPs and it gets everybody kind of in this this energy of being excited to practice self care and do their skincare routines and want to learn more about how they can address their skin concerns or reach their skin goals. It's just been so, so powerful. So I highly recommend if that's, if you're on Facebook and you have a community already, but you really want to grow that community and hone in on that community and
00:52:24
Speaker
make it something special, start a private Facebook group, invite them to come. And, um, it's, it's been really, really powerful. Hey, the, ah the last one I'm going to share and notice that this is last on the list for a reason, but a really great way to communicate with your clients is through your face or excuse me, your Instagram and Facebook stories.
00:52:46
Speaker
And why I say stories over reels and feed posts is because stories are only active for 24 hours and Instagram will notify your followers when you post a story and you can talk in real time, just like I am on this podcast right now. It's real time. It's real raw conversations.
00:53:06
Speaker
I'm sharing my heart and my soul and my authenticity with you here. i do the same thing on my Instagram stories. If you follow me, on Instagram, you know, that like, it's a goal of mine to be exactly the same person and all of the different personas I live. So if you follow me or listen to me here on the podcast, and then you go and start following me on Instagram, I'm the same person. I show up the same way. And by happenstance, if we ever meet in real life, I hope that you'll realize that I'm the very same person in real life that I am Instagram.
00:53:39
Speaker
on social media, on the podcast, on every single, again, hat that I wear. It's really, really important to me to be ah authentic in every single role that I have. And your stories are such an easy way for you to do that, you guys. So you can literally hop on.
00:53:54
Speaker
It doesn't have to be curated. You don't need a script. It doesn't need to be perfect. It shouldn't be perfect, actually. you're Your authenticity really carries you and helps build that trust and connection with anybody who's watching you because it's real and it's raw and it's messy and it should be. That's really what they're there for. They want to get to know the real you.
00:54:19
Speaker
They want to be able to connect with you on a personal level and they want to be able to trust you. Right. And so it's just a really, really easy way to communicate with your audience, your community,
00:54:32
Speaker
share your offers, share your product. I mean, if you have a business and you're a licensed professional, you kind of have a responsibility to show up and you have an Instagram and or Facebook or TikTok or whatever.
00:54:45
Speaker
It really is come back, comes back to your responsibility to show up for that community who chooses to follow you because you have so much amazing value to give to that community and they're trusting you by following you. So it really does come back to how can you serve them? How can you communicate with them? That's clear and kind and authentic and really the easiest way is to do that through your stories.
00:55:09
Speaker
And stories are so valuable too, because you can actually put call to action in your stories, like links to your retail products or your online store or your booking site, or, you know, invitation to your Facebook community. If you're going to start one of those or your, your private group or your email marketing list, like you can add those stickers right to your stories. That's tappable for anybody who sees those stories.
00:55:33
Speaker
So you're giving them a call to action. You're giving them something to do. That's going to create massive value in their life. And we can show up with a ton of education around our services and treatments and products and give as much value as possible. Again, in our own authentic way that connects them to you, because really it's all about true connection. And it's just, again, it's one of those tools in your toolbox. It's a really, really easy one.
00:55:59
Speaker
And I personally love getting to know somebody through Instagram that I would never have had the opportunity to meet in a real life. But I have so many friends, like true, true friends that I've never met, but I feel like I've known them for years because we follow each other on social media and because they show up authentically.
00:56:19
Speaker
on their stories and I can connect with them and get to know them and build that trusted foundation with them. And it really is so powerful. And now I support their business and, you know, I I'm rooting for them and cheering for them and there's community there and really like your clients want to do that. Well, they're on social media. I promise you they are, and they're scrolling and they're, it's just, it's the way of the world right now. So why not use that to our advantage? Right?
00:56:49
Speaker
If you're on social media, if you have a professional page, if you're on there and you're just scrolling, but you're not creating and by creating, I just mean showing up and having those conversations and, and communicating clearly to your clients, then you're really missing out on massive opportunity.
00:57:05
Speaker
to create connections, to build a foundation of trust and to serve your clients and your followers and community, um that actually converts into sales for your business. So it's really, really massive. It's really, really important. Again, it's only one tool in your toolbox.
00:57:20
Speaker
You have many, the responsibility comes back to you on getting comfortable, having actual conversations in real time, no matter how that looks and showing up authentically, of course, um,
00:57:33
Speaker
And taking imperfect action, right? And doing it consistently. We have to do it again and again and again and again and again. And I know it can seem competitive, but the nice thing is because we have all of these different toolbox tools in our toolbox, it creates diversity and can keep things to where it doesn't feel monotonous. And we have all of these different channels that we can communicate through and we have our seasons that change, you know?
00:57:58
Speaker
And so there's always, again, something on the horizon looking out and forward to, to where it creates again, that diversity and that excitement and, It doesn't feel like monotonous and like this just boring job.
00:58:12
Speaker
There's so many different layers to aesthetics as a whole, and this is just one of them, but we really do want to be communicating with our clients on a consistent level. It really is so massively important. And I promise you when you do start to do it consistently and show up for your community through clear communication,
00:58:32
Speaker
It will convert beautifully for you. I know it will. It will have massive impact in you for you and your business. um So I challenge you to try it.
00:58:43
Speaker
Okay.

Systems for Business Growth

00:58:45
Speaker
Bonus topic we're going to throw in at the end of this episode here. Having systems. to support your growth. Now, I wasn't originally going to talk about systems on this particular episode, but I was at the shop. I was at Sweet Cheeks this morning and I was, um, I had some online orders to do. i had some inventory to do and just a few key things. And it had me thinking and it sparked this idea. Like, I do want to talk to you guys about this really quickly.
00:59:11
Speaker
on a why systems for your business or your practice are so, so, so important. Having for years, for years, I operated Sweet Cheeks just as a solo esthetician and everything I had stored in my head, everything.
00:59:27
Speaker
I didn't have a single thing down on paper to even be able to like compute what a certain system by like saying inventory looked like. It was all in my head.
00:59:40
Speaker
And And i was reaching burnout really, really quickly. My books were full. i had to turn off my booking system. i was turning clients away because there was only so much of me.
00:59:53
Speaker
I was desperate for help. I was ready to grow and expand. And I put it and I didn't really understand why it wasn't happening. And I was just kind of like spinning my wheels until I realized that there was many things that I realized this isn't just the only one.
01:00:10
Speaker
This was a part of that, that I realized that everything in my head like is not serving me for one, I'm carrying it around. It's adding to my overwhelm. It's adding to my burnout.
01:00:21
Speaker
It's adding to my brain fog. This is not serving me. And how on earth Am I going to grow my team or grow this business? At the time, I didn't even like consider that I was capable of growing a team, but how am I going to grow this business and scale this business if I'm carrying it all around And at the time I had some really great mentors that were sharing these like tips with me because they were like three steps ahead.
01:00:44
Speaker
And they were like, oh girl, you got to get, you got to get some systems in place. You got to get some policies in place and you got to get it out of your head. And so slowly but surely, I started putting systems in place in Sweet Cheeks, getting it out of my head, down on paper, so that then I could bring others in to help that helps support my vision for this business and share the load of kind of what my operating system looked like, because it really was not serving me at all.
01:01:14
Speaker
So without systems, you're literally winging it, and winging it is burnout. truly like cannot explain that enough and so by systems i'm just going to throw out some different systems because you're like systems what do you mean my systems um systems look like intake forms consultation processes a service flow checklist uh like steps to follow for your services so that it's consistent and the same every single time.
01:01:40
Speaker
Post care protocols, um, follow-up steps, uh, client retention strategy, such as your pre-booking system, thank you cards, your loyalty programs, um, having an inventory system, how to clean and like stock your treatment room. That might sound silly. It's a thing. Um, online store protocols. If you have a website and you sell your retail products online, like How does that look? how How do you ship your orders? How do you add product details?
01:02:11
Speaker
How do you update your website? All of those things are systems. And then I'm going to say policies goes in this category as well. was also something that I did not have. I had zero policies for my business.
01:02:23
Speaker
Excuse me. So like I didn't have a cancellation policy. I didn't have a late cancellation policy. I didn't even have like what to do if you know um somebody no shows me like i had zero policies in place and that was also something that at the same time that i started implementing systems into my business i also implemented policies now i think i can confidently say probably most of you this day and age have some policies in place hopefully you do
01:02:57
Speaker
because that's kind of like one-on-one. I think went back way back when, like 10 plus years ago, when I was still a solo esthetician, it wasn't as common. We were just kind of like winging it truly. And I was just, you know, literally playing every day by year and just kind of going with the flow, which in a sense, I am a go with the flow type of girl.
01:03:20
Speaker
And i got to a point where again, i was sober now and needed change and like clear direction because I knew I wanted to grow. I knew I wanted to scale. and didn't know how.
01:03:31
Speaker
And once I started putting systems and policies into place that really supported my growth and then that growth happened so, so quickly. Like now looking back on it, it almost happened overnight. It was like a maybe...
01:03:43
Speaker
a six week process, but literally looking back at as a, as a whole, it was really overnight. I literally put these fall season systems into place that mind you took some time. It took probably six to eight months to actually get them out of my head onto paper. And it was a slow burn. We'll just call it maybe even longer than six to eight months. If I had to be really honest, so really slow burn, but then things started going like smoother and it gave me some like new purpose because I knew that I couldn't keep going the way I was going. I knew it didn't feel good to me to have my books turned off and to turn clients away.
01:04:21
Speaker
and actually like kept me up at night because I was like, I had i have always had this really big purpose of serving women far beyond Lemhi County where Salmon is at.
01:04:32
Speaker
Um, and it just didn't feel, it didn't feel good to actually turn clients away. So it was like, I don't know how I'm going to do it, but i do know that I need to fix this problem because I'm not going to be that type of business. I don't want to be that type of business. It, again, it just wasn't like authentic to where I wanted to grow, even though I didn't know exactly where I wanted to grow at that time.
01:04:56
Speaker
So again, that slow burn um getting all that information out of my head down onto paper really was so valuable because then i hired an assistant and I could, and literally like my assistant in the early days, like clean the treatment room for me. And that was like thing that one load that took off my shoulders of like, if you could just help me do laundry and clean and stop the treatment my room, that would, I was buying so much time back that I could dedicate to the other people.
01:05:24
Speaker
areas of growth in my business that i that needed my time and attention. But I really, you know, in order to hire an assistant, I had to have a system in place for her to follow so that she could know what to do instead of just like telling her and then telling her again, when things weren't getting done, I just literally made a checklist and it was like genius.
01:05:45
Speaker
And then like some light bulbs started going off and like, okay, Then I started playing around with the idea of if I hired somebody, another esthetician to come and help me with this load of clients that I can't carry by myself, what does, you know, what are my facials look like?
01:06:01
Speaker
How, how can I teach her the the essence behind a sweet cheeks facial and make it seamless transition from clients who have had facials with me. And now they're seeing somebody new and we want that,
01:06:16
Speaker
um, familiarity to still be there. Of course, she's going to bring her own like secret sauce to it and her own level of touch and intention and approach. But we also want it to be very consistent and we want the love, the, um, elevated level of expert care to still be there.
01:06:34
Speaker
So really had to ask myself and sit with myself, like, what does that look like? And I had to get it out of my head and down on paper. Now, mind you, again, this was a while ago. This was like five, almost five years ago.
01:06:47
Speaker
And chat GPT was not a thing then. I just think back and think, oh man, if chat was there then, that would have happened so much quicker. it wouldn't have been a slow burn. So you guys now have chat gpt your BFF to help you with this.
01:07:04
Speaker
Again, you want to make sure that it's still like your information when you're plugging it into chat GPT, but you can plug it all in and then chat GPT is going to spit out a beautifully curated protocol or system or policy, um, in like seconds.
01:07:20
Speaker
So kudos to you guys for this next generation of estheticians and beauty professionals who have chat GPT on your side, myself included, like so, so grateful. Um, So we just like, if you're at a spot in your business where maybe you're reaching some burnout and you know that you're not likely at the end of this career, you have a long ways to go and you want to grow further and you want to grow bigger and you want to, um,
01:07:47
Speaker
grow in a beautiful way that really serves you and your community. So again, let's remember the goal is to create this life around our business, not this business around our life, right? No, I think I've seen that wrong. My gosh.
01:08:02
Speaker
Anyways, we do not want our business to run us. We run our business. We have the authority and agency over our business. We want to have a business that runs itself seemingly so that we can like step away so that we can leave work at work so we can take the weekend off with our family and our kids so we can actually take a vacation if we want to, right? And things like aren't gonna go up in flames the minute we step away.
01:08:27
Speaker
That really does start by getting everything out of our head down onto paper, So I literally have, I call it the pink Bible. I've got a pink binder that has our service protocols. It has our systems. It has everything that I kind of set on our checklist, checklist our intake forms, our consultation process, um, service load checklists, post care protocols, how we do our follow-ups and what we need to include in our follow-up messaging, um,
01:08:55
Speaker
how we approach home care conversations. Like it's not a script, but we also want to intentionally approach those conversations, right? With clear communication, that's kind.
01:09:05
Speaker
um Our loyalty program, you know, our inventory system, how we clean and stock our treatment rooms. And then of course, we also have everything that goes along with our online store on Shopify, how we ship our orders so that it's consistent. And so that, um, our clients learn to know what to expect from us, how we update the website. All of those things are in that pink Bible.
01:09:33
Speaker
So when we onboard a new team member, we can go to that, that pink Bible, those systems and protocols and policies and everything gets nicely laid out. And then she, you know, we're going to train her, but then she also has something to follow and revert back to when she has questions, when she forgets, you know, it's just that they're in place. And so it's been, it's made that growth really, um, attainable because I got it all out of my head.
01:10:01
Speaker
um So again, if you're at a space in your business where you're like, I don't really know what the growth looks like. And I know that I can't keep carrying all this information because it's stressing me out.
01:10:12
Speaker
It's overwhelming me. I don't feel like I can take time off from work because it feels like the the business is going to go up in flames. If I do, first things first, let's start offloading that information that you're carrying in your head out onto paper. Utilize ShotGPT. She's going to be your bestie with this.
01:10:30
Speaker
and start kind of creating a folder or a binder. And it might be a slow burn for you because you might like, you can, you, you built it you know how to operate it. It is on your head. It might take some time to kind of organize your thoughts so that it is hand come out in an organized way.
01:10:49
Speaker
Um, but I promise you, you'll start to feel better. so If you're even like ruminating over this, again, get out that notebook and that pen and start kind of making a list on things that maybe you know, spat off here. They're like, oh I don't have, I don't have intake forms or I don't have a loyalty program, but I'd like to make a list and then, um you know, sit with it, ruminate on it, meditate on it.
01:11:16
Speaker
and kind of just see where it takes you and see how it would feel. Ask yourself how it would feel to have a system for that specific topic. We'll call it in place. Does that feel like it's a little bit less overwhelming? Does it feel like it's okay? Something that's off your shoulders out of your brain. You can come back to it in this folder or this binder when needed.
01:11:37
Speaker
um even if you're like, not thinking about like, you're like, I want to be a solo esthetician forever. That's great. We still want systems and in place because they are going to support your growth in other ways.
01:11:48
Speaker
Even if you're, you are going to stay a solo esthetician, which is amazing, but we, we want to support your growth and systems and policies. Having those in place out of your head are really going to serve you and your growth.
01:12:00
Speaker
So, so well. Okay. Systems, they create consistency, confidence, and client retention. Just wanted to throw that in there.
01:12:12
Speaker
Hey, final thoughts, and then let's wrap up. This has been such an amazing episode. I want you to ask yourself, am I running my business or is my business running me?
01:12:24
Speaker
That's kind of a hard question to ask yourself because... I think we all have to run our business, obviously, but we all do need to spend time working on the business and not just in the business. There is a difference there.
01:12:38
Speaker
And the the topics that I brought to you in today's episode really are kind of two parts, right? Having those that clear communication with our clients consistently, that's part of working in the business.
01:12:50
Speaker
But then we also want to work on the business. That's a different hat that we wear We want to have systems in place that support our growth, however, that's going to look like for you. and I will say, if you're an esthetician who works for another company, who does not have systems in place, be the leader in that. Go to your manager, go to your boss and say, Hey,
01:13:11
Speaker
I think that it could be really, really great for the team and for the business and for our clients creating a win-win-win situation if we had this system in place or if we had this policy in place.
01:13:23
Speaker
And, you know, take the lead on that and say, how can I help put these in place? What can I do to support that so that things run smoother, so that there's less chaos, so that there's clearer communication with the business and the team and with our clients I really challenge you to be the leader in that because it is going to serve you in your current role and it's going to serve the business. And the the better the business does, the better you do and vice versa, the better and more supported and more thriving you are in your current role within this business supports that business and their growth, which comes back to supporting you. So it really is all connected and it really is.
01:14:02
Speaker
It does all matter. We are like, as a skincare business, I like to think of it as the ship that we're all on and we all have these working parts. And so maybe the lead esthetician or the owner or the manager is steering the ship, but then you as the esthetician are like, have these integral parts that matter, um you know, whatever it is, you're getting the sales up. So without your integral part, the ship isn't going to go or it's going to get off course and end up someplace completely,
01:14:33
Speaker
you know, off the map where, where, where you didn't want to go. So it really does all matter. So we have all of these working parts and we do have to come together as a team. And so if you are an esthetician who is working for a company right now, also remember if you have the dream to go out on your own and be a solo esthetician someday, or start your own business or practice, having those systems in place and knowing how they operate and contributing the The overall health and wellbeing of the business as a whole is going to set you up for success when you are in that role. We don't want to wait to like do these integral things for when we're out on our own, because then we're going to either be starting at ground zero, or it's going to take us a lot longer to get to where we're going.
01:15:18
Speaker
We want to be practicing those things now in our current role And it really is going to elevate us and set us up for success in our next role or our next phase or our next season, however that is going to look for you. Okay.
01:15:32
Speaker
Okay. That is all I have to say. My nose is getting super congested. So I'm so sorry if it sounds like I am. Again, still in that healing process and that's okay, but I'm so, so happy to be here with you guys today. I'm again, so, so thankful.
