April 22, 2025 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year

Daily Bible Reading with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching (Audio only)

Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between  Passover, First Fruits, and Shavuot (Pentecost) today. As part of  understanding and observing the festivals that God has appointed for us  to observe we count the Omer today and then we will have our daily Bible  reading session!

Here is the link for a downloadable devotional if you would like to  count the Omer for yourself. It has been put out by the Messianic  Congregation Shoresh David in Florida:  https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/

In our final proverbs reading today we will read the topics of Wise Words from Agur, Wise Words From King Lemuel, and A Good Wife. In our daily application discussion today we will talk about speaking up for people who can't speak for themselves. We will talk about the fact that  this can be ANYONE, including men, women, and children, not just people  who are considered poor. We will be reminded of the book of Esther, where her Uncle Mordecai encourages Queen Esther to speak up for all of  the Israelites, since it could very well be for a time such as this that  she was placed into a position that allowed her to do so. In the same  way, let us be on the look out for times when God has placed us into  positions that allow US to speak up and speak out for those who cannot  do so themselves. If not us, then WHO? If not now, then WHEN?

If you would like to join me LIVE for the daily reading you can register  to attend on my site, here:  https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/schedule

Registration for the live event is a tiered pricing event, so you are  not required to pay to attend, only if you feel led. If you feel led to  support this event with either a paid live registration or a monthly  membership then I will give back to YOU by sending you a printed copy of  the monthly calendar on sugar cane paper along with a set of stickers  for the month to keep track of your daily commitment to read the Bible  with me every day.

Counting the Omer: Significance and Tradition

00:02:32
Speaker
We have been counting the Omer, which is the time after Passover before we have Shavuot, which is the ah celebration. ah We are in the Feast of Weeks and we are counting down the days to what would in the New Testament be called Pentecost, which is when God sent the Holy Spirit to fill the first disciples.
00:02:57
Speaker
I have been reading a wonderful devotional book and I have really been enjoying that as well. I showed that to you yesterday. Let's see, where is our counting of the Omer?
00:03:11
Speaker
We are going to start with the blessing. This is traditionally done with a blessing first, and then we're simply going to count the day. If you are new to this, then you may not know that we are counting the omer.
00:03:23
Speaker
And an omer is a unit of measurement that has been used in the Bible to count like barley or wheat or the harvest. And before anybody could partake of the harvest, of the first harvest of spring, first the amount was given to God. It was tied off with a ribbon and the priest would come and ah bless and take their portion and then only then could the farmer have the rest of the harvest.
00:03:57
Speaker
So this reminds us to give God the first fruits. And we have been learning that Jesus rose on that day first fruits since he is our Passover lamb.
00:04:11
Speaker
Let's see. Today is the 22nd Tuesday and here we go. If you would like to count the Omer with me, then please repeat after me, first the blessing and then the counting.
00:04:25
Speaker
Blessed are you, o Lord our God, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your commandments and has commanded us to count the Omer.
00:04:43
Speaker
Today is the second day of the second week and day nine. I have counted the Omer.
00:04:55
Speaker
If you are new here to this event or you missed a couple of days and you're not sure what it is we're doing or why, the Omer was actually given as a direction by God for everybody to do themselves.
00:05:08
Speaker
So you have obeyed God today by counting the Omer. There are 50 days in the Omer.
00:05:17
Speaker
And if you are interested in following along, there's a small devotional for counting the Omer as well online. It's available from shereshdavid.org. That's where I have done have gotten this counting of the Omer devotional.
00:05:31
Speaker
And it I will have the link for that in the description below.

Conclusion of Proverbs and Introduction to Song of Solomon

00:05:38
Speaker
Well, let's go ahead and head on in. Today is our last day of the Proverbs. We are going to be finishing up with them. And then tomorrow we will start in the Song of Solomon.

Wisdom from Agur: Nature and Creatures

00:05:58
Speaker
Our first section in the Proverbs today is called Wise Words from Agur.
00:06:06
Speaker
There are four things I don't understand. How an eagle flies in the sky, how a snake crawls over a rock, how a ship sails on the tall waves, and how a man loves a woman.
00:06:23
Speaker
Four things are very small, but they are very wise. Ants are not very strong, but they store up food in the summertime. Rock badgers are not very strong, but they have homes among the rocks on the hills.
00:06:41
Speaker
Big grasshoppers called locusts don't have a king, but they move out together like an army.
00:06:51
Speaker
Lizards can be held in your hand, but they can also climb into king's palaces.
00:06:59
Speaker
Four things are very grand when they move along. The lion who is one of the strongest animals. He doesn't run away from anything. The rooster who has a proud walk.
00:07:14
Speaker
A billy goat. And a king who has his army around him.

King Lemuel's Advice on Leadership

00:07:21
Speaker
Have you been a fool? Have you tried to make yourself look great? Have you planned something wrong? Then stop. Cover your mouth with your hand.
00:07:34
Speaker
When you shake milk up, you make butter.
00:07:39
Speaker
When you hit your nose, you bring blood. When you get someone angry, you start a fight.
00:07:49
Speaker
Our next section of words is, ah Proverbs is entitled, Wise Words of King Lemuel. Here's what King Lemuel's mother told him.
00:08:02
Speaker
I love that these, ah or what his mother taught him.
00:08:07
Speaker
Kings should not drink wine. Rulers should not want beer. They might drink it and forget their own laws. They might not treat poor people right.
00:08:22
Speaker
Speak up for people who can't talk for themselves. Stand up for the rights of people who are poor.
00:08:30
Speaker
Be a fair judge and speak up for poor people.

Traits of a Good Wife in Proverbs

00:08:37
Speaker
Our last section and final section of the Proverbs is the section entitled, A Good Wife. And i think a lot of our listeners are women.
00:08:49
Speaker
And so you may already be familiar with some of these.
00:08:54
Speaker
Who can find a wife who is good? She's better than riches. Her husband trusts her. He has everything he could want.
00:09:06
Speaker
She brings good things into his life, not bad things. She chooses what she needs to make yarn and threads. Her hands are ready to work.
00:09:18
Speaker
She's like the ships that bring things to market. She brings her food from far away. She gets up while it's dark to get food ready for her family.
00:09:31
Speaker
She thinks about buying a field and then she buys it. Then she buys seeds and plants them with her own money. She works hard.
00:09:44
Speaker
Her arms are strong. She makes money at what she does. Even late at night, she is working. She makes yarn with her fingers.
00:09:56
Speaker
She gives to poor people. She's not afraid when it snows. Her family has good warm clothes. People say good things about her husband.
00:10:08
Speaker
He is a leader in the town. She makes clothes and sells them. She makes belts to sell to the stores. She is strong.
00:10:19
Speaker
She feels good about what she can do. She's not worried about the days that will come. She says wise things. She teaches, and you can believe what she says.
00:10:35
Speaker
She takes care of her family. She is not lazy. Her children stand up and say good things about her. Her husband does too, and he cheers for her.
00:10:49
Speaker
Lots of women do good things, he says, but you are better than all of them.
00:10:57
Speaker
Just acting nice can trick people. Being beautiful doesn't last forever. But you should cheer for a woman who worships God.

Empowerment for Women

00:11:07
Speaker
She has worked hard, so give her a gift and let people praise her for what she has done.
00:11:18
Speaker
Jedi, Forest, Pearl, and Diamond. Your mama is one of those women. Make sure that you stand up and say something good about her today.
00:11:30
Speaker
and about Grandma Helen too.
00:11:38
Speaker
Well, we had a lot of wonderful words to say today. And you know what? I know a lot of us are just like this. there It seems like that woman in Proverbs is just absolutely perfect.
00:11:49
Speaker
And it seems like we could never live up to all of those things. But you know what? We do. Because God gives us the strength to do all of these things. And I know that we all work as hard as we possibly can to be the best that we can be with what God has given us to do.
00:12:06
Speaker
and We may not be spinning yarn anymore or buying fields, but we do other things. And I know each of us stays up late and gets up early. There are times we can't sleep where God has put things on our mind to do for him and for other people.
00:12:22
Speaker
And I want you to know that you too are a woman of the Proverbs.

Advocacy for the Voiceless

00:12:31
Speaker
So our words today for our daily application come to us from King Lemuel's mother.
00:12:39
Speaker
Speak up for people who can't talk for themselves. Stand up for the rights of people who are poor. Be a fair judge and speak up for poor people.
00:12:52
Speaker
One of the things that I noticed is that not everybody has the strength to stand up for themselves. And so it can be hurtful or feel disappointing in people when they don't stand up for you.
00:13:05
Speaker
And what God has shown me, even in men, so it's not just, we we can substitute that word for anybody. It's not just the poor people. this These are people who have the don't have the strength or the confidence or the ability to stand up for themselves in things.
00:13:23
Speaker
And I know personally, I have found that it is easier for me to stand up for other people than it is to stand up for myself. And I'm not sure if that's a woman thing or if it's just a me thing, but I know that when I see people being treated improperly, it upsets me.
00:13:42
Speaker
And it is much easier for me to stand up on their behalf and speak up for them than it is for when I am struggling with something. And that's when God stands up for me.
00:13:56
Speaker
And sometimes he will send somebody to stand up for me. So keep your eyes and your ears open for opportunities where God is using you to stand up for somebody else. This can be in our job. This can be in just regular daily life.
00:14:11
Speaker
It can be your brother or your sister. If you see somebody picking on them, it can be for anybody, anytime. wherever it is. Somebody made the comment to me one time that i that they like to stay in their own lane, which means to mind their own business.
00:14:29
Speaker
And one time they made the comment that I needed to stay in my own lane. And my response back is, if people stayed in their own lanes, then we would still have slavery.
00:14:43
Speaker
Women would not have the right to vote. and children would not have the opportunity to be in school because they would still be working and having jobs at the age of you, Jedi, and you, Pearl, and you, Forrest, instead of the opportunity to go to school because now it's a law that children go to school.
00:15:06
Speaker
So it's not right to stay in our own lanes. And that's like what Ruth taught us too in the book of Ruth or the book of Esther rather, sorry, where Esther was made queen and her uncle Mordecai told her, how do you know that you have not been placed in this position for such a time as this?
00:15:28
Speaker
And so she was encouraged by Mordecai to speak out for others. And that's what we want to do. We want to be like Esther, where who knows that God has not placed you in a situation for a time such as this.
00:15:41
Speaker
We need to keep our eyes and our ears open for times that God has put us in a position so that we can be the the mouth for people who are not able to speak up for themselves in any situation.
00:15:53
Speaker
Because who knows that God has not placed you there for that position, just at that time, for such a time as this.

Support and Engagement Call

00:16:02
Speaker
And so a saying has risen out of the book of Esther that says, if not me, who?
00:16:07
Speaker
And if not now, when? Let's not let those times pass us by when God has placed us with opportunities to speak up on somebody else's behalf.
00:16:18
Speaker
They don't have to simply be poor. They could be anybody. They could be a man. It could be an older man. It could be the same man as, yeah same age as you. It could be your husband. It could be somebody who's a friend.
00:16:32
Speaker
It doesn't have to even just be a woman. It doesn't even have to be a child because oftentimes children grow up. Oh my goodness. We grow up and we are, we have just as much a hard a time speaking up for ourselves as we did when we were younger.
00:16:51
Speaker
So that is our daily application today.
00:16:55
Speaker
Thank you so much for joining me for today's counting of the Omer and for the reading of the Proverbs today. i am so glad that you were here with me. And if you feel that God has given you some light and he is shining through you to- today, please click that light button at the end.
00:17:11
Speaker
And if you have not already, please consider clicking subscribe or follow because it's not just the lights. It's the follows and the subscribes that help it gather attention.
00:17:22
Speaker
And I'm not trying to gather attention for myself. I want to spread the word about reading God's word. And you can do your little bit of a part by speaking up for this event, by clicking that light and by clicking that follow or subscribe so that other people will have the opportunity to see it and also want to hear it and be inspired and have their light lit by God's word.
00:17:45
Speaker
So I hope everybody has a fantastic rest of their day today. And I will be here for everyone again tomorrow.
