Is it like a haunted house or manor?

00:00:02
Speaker
I have a story for you. Is it scary? It's haunting. Like a haunted house? Or like a manor.

Introduction and Episode Seven Overview

00:00:23
Speaker
Welcome back to Fans of Flanagan. i'm Laura. And I'm Noah. And we are moving right along. We are at episode seven, ah two faces part two.
00:00:39
Speaker
I don't know about you, but i thought this episode was great. It was really good. And it just went by so quickly. i don't know about you, but it felt really fast to me.
00:00:54
Speaker
It did. It moved but moved along quickly and it was scary and it was intense and a lot of suspense and terror. Lots happening.
00:01:05
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely.

Weekly Recommendations

00:01:07
Speaker
Before we jump into that, ah what are your recommendations? What have you been watching this week? I was going to say it it's different because usually we talk about what we've been watching and not only have I oh some or reading interesting, thing Oh yeah, that not only do I have that, but I have actual recommendations specifically for you.
00:01:32
Speaker
I found two things I think you might enjoy. Okay. All right. I'm very excited. The first one, they're both, they're both on Netflix.
00:01:44
Speaker
The first one is a movie that came out last year and it's called it's what's inside.
00:01:54
Speaker
And it's like thrillerly, thrillerly, psychological through what,
00:02:02
Speaker
what, go ahead, get your head out of the gutter. No, that's not it. That's not it. I've already watched this and I recommended it to you. Oh. But I'm glad you finally made it on board.
00:02:17
Speaker
But go ahead. Tell me. No, no, no. When did you recommend it? I talked about wanting to watch it. And then I talked about after I watched it. I can't you can't i couldn't say anything about it because you have to watch it cold.
00:02:30
Speaker
You really do. Yeah. But go ahead. No, no. It was cool, huh? I'm so sorry. I have a such a terrible memory.
00:02:45
Speaker
All credit goes to Laura here. she has great taste. That was funny.
00:02:52
Speaker
i did say I wanted to watch it again because of just how confusing things get. and Now you know what I'm talking about. Oh my word. Yeah. I have to watch it on the big screen because it was so hard to keep track of the characters. If you do want to watch this, go ahead and skip ahead because we can talk about it a little bit.
00:03:08
Speaker
If you're not interested in watching it, I mean, stay with us, but otherwise utilize that skip button. Yeah.
00:03:18
Speaker
But I liked watching it cold. And did you get the Clue vibes? Yes, I did. And now that you're you said the Clue vibes, I'm like, oh, yeah, she did talk about that. did talk about this. o
00:03:35
Speaker
Well, I'm glad you liked it so much that it made you think of me that I might want to watch it because I i liked

'What's Inside' Movie Discussion

00:03:42
Speaker
it. Yeah. I was so excited. I watched it almost two weeks ago, pretty soon after that we had recorded our last episode.
00:03:51
Speaker
And I was like, man, I'm so excited. I can't believe you have to wait two weeks to have to tell her about this movie. And you've already seen it. oh But no, it's it is it's so good.
00:04:06
Speaker
um I loved the I'm pretty sure it's the same moment. It's not I'm not going to say what it is, but it's kind of what sets up the third act.
00:04:22
Speaker
And when that moment happened, I'm like, Oh, no, i did not think about that. Oh, that's going to be horrible. What's going happen now? um it It really shocked me.
00:04:35
Speaker
And I was not expecting that. It was like a fleeting thought that I had. I was like, what if this happens? And then it did. And i was like, yep, of course it did. Yeah. Yeah.
00:04:47
Speaker
Everyone's a crappy person. Everyone sucks in that movie. Everybody sucks. The twist at the very end, I was not expecting. um so that was pretty cool. But I was like, that makes so much sense, though.
00:05:02
Speaker
That makes a lot of sense. It was a good twist.
00:05:07
Speaker
Added that whole other layer onto the whole story, which, again, you know also makes me want to watch it again with that in mind the whole time. So good movie. Very good movie.
00:05:19
Speaker
Yeah. Please go see it. If you didn't listen to Laura when she first said it, like I do. That
00:05:28
Speaker
that was amazing.

'The Terror' Recommendation

00:05:32
Speaker
the The second thing I want to recommend to you. ah hu i swear, if you've seen this as well, it's it's an AMC show, but it's on Netflix.
00:05:46
Speaker
Okay. And it's called The Terror.
00:05:51
Speaker
Oh, that's the one with... What's
00:05:55
Speaker
what's his face? think his name is Jared Harris. um Who's the other one? Is that... Searon Hines.
00:06:04
Speaker
Do I have that right name?
00:06:10
Speaker
Yeah. Searon Hines.
00:06:15
Speaker
The guy from...
00:06:22
Speaker
Game of Thrones. Uh-huh.
00:06:27
Speaker
What else has he been in? can't think of anything he's been That's an anthology series because I had read into this one. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm glad to know that it's good. so been i might have added it to my watch list, but okay. it's based It's based on a book written by Dan Simons.
00:06:50
Speaker
who wrote Hyperion, which is another book I want to read. um but that book is based on historical events that happened. So it's based in it's, it's historical fiction.
00:07:04
Speaker
Um, and in like, i think the 18th century, and somewhere around there, maybe it was late 18th century or 19th century. I'm sorry, like in the eighteen hundreds
00:07:19
Speaker
The British were trying to find a faster way to Asia instead of having to go all the way south around South America and then going over to Asia.
00:07:30
Speaker
They were trying to find a passage through the Canadian. Ocean, seas, whatever that will let them pass over to the other side to get to Asia.
00:07:42
Speaker
And the story is about the terror and the, oh, it's another, it's another ship. I can't remember what the name of the ship is, but they were the most techno technological advanced ships of the time.
00:07:55
Speaker
You laughing at me like this for an excuse. No, I'm not making a face at all. I'm listening. um And they had passed a, the last outpost or whatever, and then they were never seen again.
00:08:09
Speaker
And their show is about what happens during that expedition. Obviously it's fictional, but it pulls a lot of historical pieces from it, especially the Inuit people.
00:08:21
Speaker
Am I saying that right? Sure. It's slow.
00:08:29
Speaker
it's it's slow But it's really good. And it's a little bit gory at the, especially at the end, but it's, I don't think it's unnecessary.
00:08:43
Speaker
If that makes sense. It's not like wanting one violence and gore it's for a purpose. Okay. Very good. Recommend it a ton to you.
00:08:56
Speaker
um I, I really enjoyed it. I just finished it yesterday.

Comparing 'Companion' and 'Hard Eyes'

00:08:59
Speaker
It's 10 episodes long. They're about an hour each. So. Very cool. I think I'll, I think I'm going to check that out.
00:09:10
Speaker
Cause
00:09:15
Speaker
had it on my, uh, Not on my watch list, but like on my ah to be put on my watch list. Does that make sense? Like, hey, that looks like something I want to watch. But anything else?
00:09:27
Speaker
We went and saw a Companion. It's a movie in theaters right now um about
00:09:37
Speaker
an AI robot. Oh, that one. Yeah, that one. Yeah. Did you like it? It was fun. It was enjoyable. It was better than Hard Eyes, which I saw. I saw Hard Eyes yesterday, and that was just not enjoyable to me. But Companion was interesting and had some cool moments.
00:09:57
Speaker
Hard Eyes? Hard Eyes. Like hearts? Yeah, it's about a serial killer who kills couples on Valentine's Day. It's so stupid. It's
00:10:11
Speaker
stupid. It's so stupid. I want to see um love hurts. I think I talked about that one before though. Yeah. That looks interesting.
00:10:25
Speaker
looks, it looks fun. I'm not expecting too much out of it, but it looks like a good time. Yeah. All right. So

'Yellow Jackets' and Streaming Services

00:10:32
Speaker
what about you? What are you even watching? I don't think I talked about this, but I watched the first season because that's the only one on Netflix and I'm not signing up for another streaming service. I'm not doing it.
00:10:43
Speaker
I'm not. But they put Yellow Jackets on Netflix. um Have you seen it? No, but I want to. Do it. Really good.
00:10:55
Speaker
It's freaking me out. It's disturbing. But the story and the mystery is keeping me in it. Uh-huh. But the rest of the seasons are still on the Paramount Plus, but it's like the Paramount Plus with the AMC add-on or Showtime add-on or something add-on. You have to have like both.
00:11:17
Speaker
It's such a weird combination. And I'm like, yeah but I have Paramount Plus with my Prime Video. I'm like, that's not enough. I can't do and more. Another $50.
00:11:30
Speaker
So I, I have, I have enough patience to wait for them to drop the other seasons on Netflix eventually, but it's just weird enough. And it's, it's, it freaks me out, man. It's dark and it's twisted.
00:11:48
Speaker
um I'm not even going to say anything about it because as soon as you go into it, you're going to be like, well, what the heck is this? Yeah. So if you do, if you do start that one, let me know. Cause I think you're going to want to talk about it.
00:12:01
Speaker
Um, I probably will since I've finished the terror. So, yeah. I watched School Spirits when that first season came out and I didn't really think much of it until kind of the very end.
00:12:16
Speaker
It's a fun watch. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do, especially going into the second season. um And then another one of my favorite shows is Ghosts. I have not watched the UK version yet. I'm sure it's great, but they do a really good job with the US version. So I've been watching Ghosts and they just do like an episode a week. So it's like an ongoing episode.
00:12:37
Speaker
thing or whatever and then um on netflix oh i still haven't finished blink twice because i
00:12:49
Speaker
i'll get to it i'm just nervous about the turning point where it's at right now i've kind of left it it like i i don't know if you've watched it yet but it's it's about to go down in that movie It's like Phoebe and friends who says their mom used to stop all the bad movies right before it goes back.
00:13:11
Speaker
Like, was it old yeller? Yeah.
00:13:23
Speaker
ah But there's ah a new series on Netflix about a true story of a woman that pretended to have brain cancer and started a whole app and like created millions of dollars um called Apple Cider Vinegar.
00:13:39
Speaker
And normally, normally I love like these retellings, these dramatized retellings of true stories about these kind of things. But this one, I don't know why it feels so unsettling, but it does.
00:13:53
Speaker
I'm watching it really slowly. That's with um Caitlin Deaver, right? i think that's what her name is.

Book-to-Show Adaptations

00:14:02
Speaker
You know, I don't. Yeah, it is.
00:14:08
Speaker
It's really well done. um i don't know what about it is like upsetting to me. I don't know. i don't know. It's it's fascinating. i love I love a show that catches a liar, so I don't know why I'm inventing Anna.
00:14:26
Speaker
That was fantastic. I would watch that one again.
00:14:31
Speaker
um But yeah, I think that's about it for me. Okay. And if you want something really funny to watch that they put on Netflix, AP bio, hilarious.
00:14:43
Speaker
I love that show. They cancel it way too soon. um i think it's the guy from ah Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the main lead in that show.
00:14:56
Speaker
Which one? That's a funny one. and ah Glenn Howerton? Is that who it is? Oh, yeah. yeah Yeah.
00:15:07
Speaker
Yeah. It's got Patton Oswalt in it too. It does. Yeah, it does. um I like Patton Oswalt, but I think he respectfully is overused as a voice actor.
00:15:25
Speaker
That's fair. he int we the In the Sandman, when the Raven, his new Raven. I forgot. And it's Patton Oswalt. I'm like, oh my gosh.
00:15:38
Speaker
Yeah. I don't know why that bugged me, but I was like, i couldn't have just cast just like a normal sounding dude. Like he's got such a distinctive voice. Not a bad job. Like I got over it fast, but I was like, really?
00:15:53
Speaker
Respectfully, Patton Oswalt, I'm a fan, but was an odd choice. I'm probably alone in that.
00:16:03
Speaker
I'm excited for those new episodes, by the way.
00:16:08
Speaker
The new episodes of Sandman. Oh, Sandman. Oh yes. I need to go back and revisit the first season because it's been a long time. And then the second half just felt weird to me.
00:16:25
Speaker
The cat story was odd, but then the next story after that, I really enjoyed that.
00:16:33
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:37
Speaker
But I would definitely have to go back. Because I think for some reason, I mixed that show with Good Omens. Because it's the same author. It's Neil Gaiman. Yeah. yeah Yeah, that's fair.
00:16:51
Speaker
it's just kind of blend together in that scene. at The one episode, I think, of Good Omens that happens in the diner. And it's like everyone going crazy or something.
00:17:02
Speaker
No, that's from Sandman. That's insane. See, see, see what mean? Yeah. They mixed together for me. I'm like, what what's happening? But if you want some good reads since you're done with Stormlight, um American Gods and NC Boys, um Good Omens.
00:17:20
Speaker
Do you watch the... Such good books. Do you watch the American Gods show? Mm-hmm. Do you recommend both like watching the show as well? Cause I want to read the book. It's on my TBR. The show was rough. They made it real gory.
00:17:38
Speaker
I read the book so long ago. i don't know if it was that gory in the books. I really don't remember, but I remember being surprised in the show. was like, Oh, Oh goodness.
00:17:50
Speaker
It was a lot. Okay. It was a lot in the show, but.
00:17:57
Speaker
I recommend the books for sure.
00:18:03
Speaker
okay But they did a good job with the show. Good Omens, i don't know why I got bored. Like second season, I was like, I don't know. like I liked reading it, but I don't know why the show didn't hold me. But that's not to say anything bad about the show because they did a good job, I'm sure.
00:18:24
Speaker
Yeah.
00:18:29
Speaker
Well, I

Episode Seven Deep Dive

00:18:30
Speaker
don't know about you. Are you ready to get in the episode? Absolutely. So episode seven, the two faces part two. um And the two faces part one was Peter and Rebecca's story, if I'm remembering right.
00:18:49
Speaker
And now this is part two continuing on their story told in kind of the same way that episode five and six were told with the the flashbacks that are actually tucked away in memories. And now we have a name for that revealed in episode seven.
00:19:05
Speaker
um So the slow reveal of all these little rules in this story has been pretty cool. Like, a lot of answers. So here we go.
00:19:19
Speaker
This episode opens in darkness with Flora and Miles talking to each other and they sound kind of far away and disembodied. Flora is asking if Danny was tucked away. And it's revealed that Danny is on the ground of the attic, her hands tied behind her back and a gag in her mouth. And she's crying and terrified.
00:19:37
Speaker
Flora and Miles are talking to somebody behind her and we see that it's peter and rachel danny is completely freaked out i think she did so good i'm just saying and i believed her like she is scared
00:19:59
Speaker
um
00:20:02
Speaker
The kids don't like this game, and Peter is talking to Miles and Flora and trying to justify what it is that they're doing. Flora is asking Rachel to keep Danny tucked away, and Rachel and Peter are explaining why they can't really do that with Danny.
00:20:16
Speaker
We hear Hannah's disembodied voice saying, priceless heirlooms, and it's kind of repeating over and over again. Rachel is distracted by this and walks away and kind of disappears.
00:20:27
Speaker
Peter tries to chase after her, but she's gone. Peter's then telling the kids that Danny is going to get them in a lot of trouble. And Flora is telling Danny that she is going to have to learn how to dream hop.
00:20:39
Speaker
um And then Peter kind of gives some encouragement there. Peter's hearing knocking, but nobody else seems to hear it. He thinks Hannah's at the door, but she's not. It turns out Peter is now dream hopping.
00:20:52
Speaker
So that's kind of what the name for that is when they're going through all these different memories is dream hopping. The knocking is from a memory of Peter's opening the door to an apartment and there's a lady. It's his mother and she's saying that she's cured this time.
00:21:08
Speaker
And Peter seems unsettled and it seems like his mother has nowhere to stay and maybe needs some money. It's explained how his father and he don't have a good relationship and his mother brings up his boss and Peter accuses her of shaking him down.
00:21:22
Speaker
um so So it's interesting at first she seems like this nice lady and then you're like oh no she is a bad person.
00:21:32
Speaker
We so switch over to seems to be Rachel dream hopping and with Hannah and speaking to a policeman about things that might be missing presumably about Peter stealing a priceless heirloom.
00:21:45
Speaker
She's trying to explain her last interaction with Peter when he was telling her to pack a bag and that they would move to America and that he has this plan. The policeman and Hannah are now gone and Miles is in the dining room saying that he and Flora told the police that Peter didn't run away and they tried to tell them about the monster but they weren't listening.
00:22:04
Speaker
Miles explains how Peter is still there and he told Miles to tell Rachel that everything is going to be okay. Rachel gets up and it's switching to another event. She walks into the kitchen and oa and owen excuse me Owen and Hannah are talking.
00:22:20
Speaker
Jamie comes in. It looks like Owen is making bread. They notice Rachel in the room and invite her for some tea before lunch and she declines and goes outside. She's now underneath a stone pergola with her butterfly clip in her hand.
00:22:34
Speaker
Looking out over the lake, it's misty and beautiful. Jamie comes up to her and asks how she's doing. Rachel says she's happy that she was right about Peter. She's like, are you happy you were right about Peter? Sorry, the way I notated that.
00:22:51
Speaker
Didn't really convey the attitude. ah Jamie counsels her that Rachel should probably go and talk to they the uncle their their boss and see if he can help her get on track again to becoming a barrister Peter or no Peter.
00:23:07
Speaker
Now it's evening and Rachel seems to be settling down for the night and Peter is there in the corner. Rachel's angry at him for stealing and maybe getting her into trouble and Peter explains that he never left, but he had to figure out a way to make her see him.
00:23:22
Speaker
He reveals to Rachel that he has died by passing his hands through hers.
00:23:29
Speaker
In the classroom...
00:23:34
Speaker
Rebecca's in the classroom with the kids. She seems very distracted. And then it seems like time has passed and it's evening now. And she's been there for a long time. And Hannah comes in to talk to her.
00:23:45
Speaker
Hannah tries to explain to her that grieving, the grieving time for a relationship is about half the time of the relationship. And she wasn't with Peter for very long. So she'll get over it soon.
00:23:57
Speaker
ah This advice doesn't seem to be too helpful for Rachel. She's now sneaking into the parents wing of the house. In the night, in the dark.
00:24:10
Speaker
did pull it back to Hill House. In the night, in the dark. ah She's calling out for Peter. He's there and she says it's hard not to come up and see him all day.
00:24:25
Speaker
She said she still wants to go to America with him. And and she says, I'll just be a batty old lady talking to invisible people. And he says it doesn't work that way. He can't leave the property. Every time he tries, he just ends up right back at the house.
00:24:41
Speaker
she tries to hold him but can't and she's crying that it's not fair she gets increasingly upset and he wants her to be quiet he gets upset with her and touches her shoulder and it knocks her over and it seems like he's inhabiting her now he looks in the mirror and then exits her body peter hears the knocking again rebecca keeps asking what did you do to me and now It switches back to the scene of his mother coming to his door.
00:25:10
Speaker
And they kind of play that scene over again. Next, Jamie is in the foyer arranging some flowers and Rebecca comes down the stairs. Jamie is asking if Rebecca has talked to the uncle yet about becoming a barrister again. And Rebecca kind of BS's her way through that conversation and hurries outside.
00:25:27
Speaker
She runs to the end of the property. um but kind of falls over when she gets to the to the boundary. And then it turns and we see Peter. And it seems that Peter had been inhabiting her and she was trying to leave the property with him and her body. But as soon as she hit the edge of the property, he fell out.
00:25:48
Speaker
Later on, after a while, Peter not being around, he shows up in her bedroom in the evening and apologizes. He says he's been exploring at Bly Manor. He says he's seen things and asks if she trusts him.
00:25:59
Speaker
And now he has a plan for them to always be together again. and did not like the smile on his face.
00:26:10
Speaker
yeah So this is how you know he's like a bad guy because a good person would want their love to go on and live their life and be happy. this And he's very selfish.
00:26:26
Speaker
I don't know at what moment, but there was a moment when I was like, maybe we're just misunderstanding him. Maybe he's like not a terrible like person. And then like this happened and then other things happened near the end of the episode. I'm like, nevermind. You're a crappy person. You're terrible. Yeah.
00:26:44
Speaker
It's revealed later for la and that he went through. he went through a lot of trauma as a kid, but he didn't use that to become a good person. Yeah.
00:26:55
Speaker
He ended being a really selfish, um, a bad guy yeah so he asks her to let him in permanently by inviting him because otherwise it's just a little blip and she accidentally kicks him out he promises to take care of her and make things equal and she says okay and she invites him in and they say that that phrase you me us that's important later So now it seems like she he has tucked her away in the memory of when she was wearing the fur coat and he's taking Polaroids of her.
00:27:34
Speaker
She realizes she's tucked away and realizes that they are not, that he is not treating her equally. ah Peter Rebecca is now walking into the into the water of the lake as Rebecca is now tucked away in another memory.
00:27:49
Speaker
Peter Rebecca goes into the water, I love the Peter Rebecca. And sees Peter's
00:27:58
Speaker
body. That's what it is.
00:28:02
Speaker
ah In the memory, Rebecca realizes what's happening, but now it's too late and she drowns. um I liked the visuals in that scene because the scene as she's the memory she's tucked away and is in the bedroom.
00:28:14
Speaker
And the first thing we notice is like the like ah the light effect through water is kind of rippling on the walls. And then it goes more obvious where you we actually see like the surface of the water above her.
00:28:27
Speaker
um as she's kind of coming out of that being tucked away of that memory. um
00:28:38
Speaker
So now Rebecca is at the edge of the water sobbing as she looks at her own body floating on the water. On the other side, Flora sees it too. Jamie finds Flora, sees what's happening and takes her away. That was rough.
00:28:53
Speaker
That was yeah so heartbreaking. Yeah.
00:29:00
Speaker
Back in the memory with the fur coat, Peter saying she needs to feel the fur coat on her skin. Rebecca knows she's in a memory again, but doesn't like it. Oh, did you notice like the lamps were on under the sheets? I don't know if that was how it was in the original memory, but I don't know if that means I just noticed it. I was like, oh, why are the lamps on?
00:29:19
Speaker
and Because everything's covered in the dust sheets. But I didn't notice that. Yeah. Yeah. I just can't remember if it was like that originally or if it's different in this scene.
00:29:32
Speaker
I don't know. So she's upset at him because as soon as she was drowning, she says, as soon as the water was in my lungs, that's when you left me and I had to die alone. You left me to do that alone. And I was like, yeah, that's messed up.
00:29:47
Speaker
Yeah. In the Polaroid, he keeps circling around her taking Polaroids. And then the one that they take that he takes of them together. In the Polaroid, they look dead and rotting.
00:29:59
Speaker
Peter hears the knocking again on the door. He says that they're going to meet others in the house. And something about knowing how to get out.

Manipulation and Realization

00:30:09
Speaker
The knocking is distracting for him and it's upsetting.
00:30:13
Speaker
He's now back to the memory of his mother coming to his apartment.
00:30:19
Speaker
he says rebecca He says to his mother, Rebecca and the kids get to hop around in happy memories, but he always ends up here. He says why this memory is worse than being back home with his father is because when he was with his father, he didn't know what was going on because he was a child.
00:30:36
Speaker
And his mother was there, but didn't do anything about it and how that was worse. And he says to his mother, you're actually killing me. Those are really sad scenes.
00:30:48
Speaker
Yeah.
00:30:50
Speaker
I still don't forget him though. no he still did bad things. Goodness. Switches back to the children untying Danny in the attic.
00:31:01
Speaker
Peter takes over miles and puts the gag back in her mouth. Rebecca comes back and asks how long she was gone. Peter says they have to do it now. And Rebecca says we can wait longer, but Peter says it's time. Now they start talking about a forever house.
00:31:16
Speaker
Yeah. um Peter begins manipulating the kids saying they have to do the special thing that will help them stay around and then grabs one of the ghosts that has no face and says do you want this to happen to us and says he needs their help oh very rough yeah yeah he he's angry big time yeah big time
00:31:48
Speaker
He says he needs their help so that doesn't happen to them and that they can save Rebecca and Peter and they have a game called jailbreak. Flora does not like this. Peter wants to take over Miles forever, saying that they get to be tucked away in memories of their mom and dad.
00:32:04
Speaker
And he tells them to think of each other and us like the you, me, us bit. ah Miles really, really does not want to do this, but Peter is not giving up.
00:32:16
Speaker
Then they say, it's you, it's me, it's us. Miles and Flora have now collapsed to the ground. And when they get up, he calls Flora Bex, which is his name for Rebecca. He says Miles is just a little tickle now at the bottom.
00:32:31
Speaker
Danny is screaming. Peter says they need to get rid of Danny. Rebecca doesn't want to, but Peter says they have to because she knows. Hannah is now calling for Miles,
00:32:43
Speaker
And Peter Miles goes downstairs and says he has a surprise for Hannah. And he takes her outside to the well. I liked his whole like monologue as they're like walking. Comparing her to Wile E. Coyote.
00:32:56
Speaker
Oh, my gosh. how Well, she does just kind of keep going. And her routine is what has protected her. from like disappearing and he says you imagine up all these outfits and even the earrings you imagine these up every day and he's impressed with her he's like that's kind of amazing but um compares her to wile coyote because when wile coyote runs over the cliff he doesn't fall down until he actually looks down and realizes that he's not standing on anything
00:33:31
Speaker
And then they're at the well. And he says, you just have to look down. She does not want to. She kind of knows that that's not good what she's going to see.
00:33:48
Speaker
So reluctantly, she does. She sees herself and realizes for sure what has happened. Then Hannah flicks back to the memory of interviewing Owen. In this memory, she's realizing that Miles is not Miles and Flora might not be Flora and that she herself is dead.
00:34:04
Speaker
And now Owen is not there and she's alone. In the attic, Rebecca Flora takes the gag off of Danny and it's revealed that Rebecca did not take over Flora. They only pretended to.
00:34:17
Speaker
Rebecca tells Danny to take Flora and get as far away as possible, but it's too late for Miles.

Dramatic Conclusion

00:34:24
Speaker
Danny is taking Flora out of the house and Flora doesn't want to go without Miles and she starts screaming out in the garden. Danny is trying to quiet her down so they can escape and all of a sudden, the white lady without a face walks by grabs Danny.
00:34:39
Speaker
The end. That was so scary. It's so unexpected. I totally forgot about that part. Oh, me too.
00:34:50
Speaker
But yeah, that's the episode. Hey, we made good time this time. 34 minutes This is to be a quick one, yeah. Yeah. Love the explanation in the beginning of the episode about hopping memories. Is that what they call it?
00:35:07
Speaker
Dream hopping. Yeah. Dream dream hopping. Yeah. um And that's what they do whenever they're inhabiting their bodies to kind of tuck them away. That's what tucking away is, right?
00:35:21
Speaker
Right. or right Right. Hopping from dream to dream.
00:35:26
Speaker
But they are also dream hopping. Yeah. So who's making them dream hop or is that just, um, what happens when they die at, um, what's it called Bly?
00:35:43
Speaker
I think that's just something that happens. They kind of disappear and they go dream hopping because that's what happened to, to Hannah.
00:35:53
Speaker
Yeah. But you, he was also saying, Oh, you're protected from it. Like you're, your routine is saving you but like that's why i was confused because she still dream hops like she does on that episode yeah she's got some strong cognitive dissonance going on like she's just denying that she's dead she doesn't want to face it which is i think part of what's protecting her yeah will she still end up like the other ghosts probably
00:36:27
Speaker
But she's also more visible to everybody in the house because nobody else has realized that she's gone.
00:36:33
Speaker
Whereas it seems like Peter and Hannah kind of like have to make more of an effort to be seen. Like Peter mentions how he had to learn how to be seen. Yeah.
00:36:46
Speaker
I don't know. That was just, i'm I'm sure we'll get more answers, especially about who the woman in the white is and why she's doing what she's doing and not being like all the other ones in the attic that are just kind of standing there.
00:37:03
Speaker
They seem more like passive and just yeah harmless while she's, she's the scary one to watch out for, for sure. Yeah. Yeah, I do remember a little bit of the episode from the backstory of the the white lady.
00:37:23
Speaker
And she's... truly a villain she's not she's not a good guy like misunderstood or something like i think she if i'm remembering this is just my guess of what i'm remembering she went through something terrible and she's exacting some sort of revenge over and over i don't know if it's every night but like frequently yeah yeah
00:37:49
Speaker
but Speaking about like actual villains, Peter is a actual villain. Massive villain. Yeah. He, what he's doing is not love.
00:37:59
Speaker
Like he killed somebody he loves or he says he loves. He killed her just, just straight up and how it's her body takes her body over. Doesn't give her any sort of control.
00:38:11
Speaker
Doesn't let her make her own decisions and just kills her because he can't bear to be alone. Yep.
00:38:20
Speaker
It's just, it's so that that scene was heartbreaking. I know we said it before, but that scene is just incredibly heartbreaking and just so sad to watch that happen to her.
00:38:32
Speaker
He doesn't stop there. He wants to take away Miles and Flora's existences too so that they can be together like physically which that's a whole other layer of twisted i wrote this is gross right like this is this is gross it's so gross like if if what they're planning is to stay in these bodies as they grow up and do couple things their brother and sister like that's still like very wrong
00:39:08
Speaker
I mean, kind of like half siblings, half cousins, but still. Yeah. Icky. Still icky. Very. Very icky. Like, I don't know what his long-term goal was for that plan.
00:39:24
Speaker
but Yeah. I don't know what he was doing. I think was out of a lot of desperation.
00:39:30
Speaker
Yeah. and I think it just shows what toxic relationships are like. And I was, i was mad at her for a little bit. Cause it was like, there's no way you're going along with his plan and doing exactly what he did to you, to these little children and you're okay with it.
00:39:49
Speaker
And you just, you forgive him. There's like, I got, I was getting so mad at her and until the point where it was revealed that she's not, and she's actually trying to help.
00:40:00
Speaker
So, yeah. Oh, there was a line that she said, do you remember what she said about,
00:40:09
Speaker
Asking for too much or something. I have to bring it up because it was a really good quote.
00:40:20
Speaker
We just thought there'd be dead air.
00:40:24
Speaker
What's new?
00:40:27
Speaker
It was episode seven, right?
00:40:33
Speaker
Only two more episodes left. I know. Is there nine episodes or 10 episodes? There's nine. Nine.
00:40:51
Speaker
Let
00:40:57
Speaker
me turn the sound off so you can't.
00:41:03
Speaker
Was it a scene in the attic, like at the end? Yeah, it was towards the end.
00:41:12
Speaker
It's when he leaves and then like, I'm almost there.
00:41:36
Speaker
Hey, maybe I'll learn how to trim audio out.
00:41:40
Speaker
I'm so sorry for this. It's okay.
00:41:47
Speaker
Floor's like, i thought you needed my help. And then Rebecca's like, no one should ever need that much help. yeah Not from anybody else. Not from, Yep.
00:42:01
Speaker
yep
00:42:03
Speaker
I remember exactly what line you're talking about now. And that's true. ah Grown up should never be asking a child for that much help. Ever.
00:42:16
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
00:42:21
Speaker
Or even like another grown up. 30 seconds of dinner air for just for that.
00:42:29
Speaker
Why don't you leave it in just for comedy purposes? You got it. Less work for me.
00:42:41
Speaker
yeah Not much like happened, but it was important things that did happen. It was yeah. Yeah.
00:42:53
Speaker
ah kind of I think you're right. It like moved quickly. Although at one point I thought it was going to be over soon and I paused it and I still had 20 minutes left. But then those 20 minutes went by pretty quickly. Yeah. And all those opportunities that that Rebecca had to to leave, to let go of Peter and leave.
00:43:16
Speaker
And she just didn't. She had counsel from Hannah. She had counsel from Jamie. Like, don't don't hang on to this man that's just gone from their point of view he abandoned her and she knows that she that he's there but he's dead but like she still should have listened yeah he was just like what you were together for three weeks
00:43:45
Speaker
it reminds me of passengers in a way okay yeah have you seen that movie Let me pull it up to see if I have, because I forget things.
00:43:59
Speaker
Oh, I have. Yeah. Yeah. it It just reminds me of that, of how Chris Pat's character essentially kills her because he woke her up because he couldn't stand to be alone.
00:44:12
Speaker
Because he was lonely. Yeah. And so it just reminded me of the situation and made me think of how ridiculous the passengers is that she would forgive him for that.
00:44:24
Speaker
I mean, you gotta now live with this person, ah just you two on the ship. So like, that's kind of like a forced situation, you know, but I would hold it over his head like, yeah.
00:44:41
Speaker
you don't want to You don't want to do this one thing with me. You don't want to do this act you don't want to play chess.
00:44:49
Speaker
I'm sorry. who woke up who?
00:44:54
Speaker
I would use it to get my way a lot.
00:45:01
Speaker
Speaking of that movie, this is so random, but I am like disappointed that they didn't have children.
00:45:08
Speaker
My guess was that by the time the other people in their pods woke up when they wait for you reached the planet or wherever they were going, that they would have been greeted by like their progeny.
00:45:19
Speaker
But no. No kids. That was disappointing. No, that's for the sequel. you gotta It's going to be a sequel. there's What? There's no original ideas anymore, so it's it's going to be a sequel. There's going to be a sequel.
00:45:37
Speaker
Maybe in like 10 like should have been like gulfy quotes you know There should have been like a whole society of people. Yeah. By the time everybody else woke up.
00:45:52
Speaker
But that's whatever.
00:45:58
Speaker
That's all that's all i had for this episode. too Good times, man. I was trying to stretch it to like maybe 50 minutes. of the It's not happening. It's not.
00:46:09
Speaker
We were very efficient this week. So,
00:46:17
Speaker
um, I think we've stated our final thoughts and, uh, Awesome. Good times. Thanks, guys, for sticking with us and our antics.
00:46:31
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Bye. Bye, everyone. by by
