Microphone Quality and Sensitivity

00:00:23
Speaker
Yay, what up? Time slurp my water right after we hit record. I know, I'm about to fart. It's good. I don't think you hear that one. It was quite silent. It wasn't on my end, but yeah. my microphone My microphone is good enough not to pick up things that are not right in front of it, so.

Weather Banter and Humor

00:00:41
Speaker
Yeehaw. Yeehaw. We are here. And we're hot. We're here We're queer. And i just want to go to sleep.
00:00:55
Speaker
Oh, God. Is it still hot for you right now? Yeah. Oh, woof. We got we got a little bit of a cool breeze.
00:01:06
Speaker
ah But like that just means that I've left my kitchen window open.

Box Fan Fiasco

00:01:12
Speaker
And i um curbside ordered ah from Walmart a box fan to put in the kitchen window. and it's been blowing all day.
00:01:25
Speaker
it's still colder outside than inside. Yeah. That is how it is at my house all the time. Yeah. In the summer anyway. Woof. ah Yeah. It's 80 degrees out right now. So it's dropped considerably. But that the humidity was going up.
00:01:42
Speaker
wo After we had a rainstorm. And then the humidity went up. You're going to be so mad when I tell you what temperature it is here right now. No, I'm not. I'll just be jealous, but I'm not going to be mad.
00:01:57
Speaker
Same diff. 62 degrees. It'll get down to like 57 before sunrise tomorrow. Love it.
00:02:08
Speaker
So dope. um Yeah, I love it. The one thing I will say that I was very surprised and a little pissed off about was that when I brought the box fan home and went to put it in the window, it was literally like one inch too large to fit in the open window.
00:02:28
Speaker
So like, it's crazy because like, there's at least two or three inches that the pain should keep going up, but it stops. Hmm. And I do, I think it's the way it's designed. I don't think it's like there's something blocking it. How is the width?
00:02:43
Speaker
The width is perfect. Okay. You have a windowsill that sticks out? I do. And it's on the windowsill. It's been there. Yeah. but But it doesn't like even bringing the, arm because you know, there's the little lip to push the window up.
00:02:58
Speaker
Yeah. Like even bringing that down on top of the fan.

Creative Fan Solutions

00:03:03
Speaker
didn't keep it in place so i literally duct taped the handle of the fan on the top of it to the window like window pane okay and it's sitting on like the sill the part that's painted green not the plastic window pane yeah itself yeah because i've been able to fit those box fans in the window like in the frame uh-huh not just on the sill before you know
00:03:30
Speaker
Like it's always fit to where I can bring the window down and like, just hold it in there. But this one, Nope, too big. It's not even the biggest box fan that was available. Like there were some that were 24 inches. This one was 20 inches.
00:03:44
Speaker
So I'm just thinking, cause I used to do the same thing and my windows are narrow. So like the box fan would never fit into it anyways. Um, or the half that opens cause they slide side to side.
00:03:58
Speaker
Um, is too narrow to fit the fan in. So what I used to do was just put the bottom like edge on the windowsill and tilt it.
00:04:08
Speaker
So it's angled. It would be blowing upward on a diagonal. And when you turn it on the force of the error blowing out, kept it pushed it against the screen and it never needed to be secured.
00:04:23
Speaker
Weird. Weird. Yeah. So it's like, as long as yours fits in width wise, there shouldn't be a problem if you pull the bottom part out forward and then tilt it backward.
00:04:34
Speaker
There's not room for that. No room for that. My, my sill is like an inch deep. Oh, okay. My soul goes deeper than that. No. yeah Unfortunately. But it's fine. it's like I have duct tape. Yeah, i like how you rigged it.
00:04:51
Speaker
Tape it up. that works Nice bronze duct tape because I'm me. oh
00:04:58
Speaker
I've never even seen bronze duct tape before. yeah it was. not I don't even remember. It was another Walmart run. where I just saw this whole wall of various colored duct tapes and I got a bronze one and I got a mustard yellow one.
00:05:16
Speaker
Cool. Yeah. Very Molly. You know you know, know, it's like, I'm catching like a nice, a nice chilly breeze every so often.
00:05:32
Speaker
All the ceiling fans are going all of them. That's amazing. But, like, I'm getting that, like, but otherwise, and I don't know how much of it is the candle that's literally physically giving off heat. But I don't, I i like the vibe.
00:05:45
Speaker
don't want to put the candle out. Funny. But, yeah, we're, uh, yeah, we we're finally cooled off after, like, three days of, like, suffocating heat. Yeah, dude. It was comfortable yesterday here, and then...
00:06:05
Speaker
It got warmer again today. Yeah. It looks to me like it's going to be nice over the weekend. And then Monday, it'll there's a high of 87. But that's still 10 degrees cooler than it got this week. um so But then after that, it goes down again. So i don't know. We'll see.
00:06:27
Speaker
But um i'm I'm subsisting off of the one window AC unit that I got. Which I don't even know. i i showed you. It's black.
00:06:39
Speaker
oh I love it. It was like it came in ah it came in white or black. And it was like, obviously. Obviously I'm buying a black one. ah
00:06:51
Speaker
And the box fan. And the ceiling fans. That's it. yeah Sweet. We'll get there. We'll get through. Yeah, I probably should buy some freaking window AC units because my like central AC unit blows.
00:07:09
Speaker
I don't know. My house is warm as hell and I hate it. um Anyhow, moving on.

Weekend Teasers and 'Loose Meat'

00:07:15
Speaker
Moving on We did a thing this weekend.
00:07:20
Speaker
We did a thing. and We did all the things this weekend. but We gave so much preamble to it and it deserved everything. Millisecond of the preamble Hell yeah It was amazing And I believe we agreed that ah We're going to go into depth About how the weekend went over on our Patreon For our first Bonus episode of July okay So ah please go check that out If you want to how like In depth of how the weekend went And particularly If you want to hear about Loose Meat
00:08:03
Speaker
and what the fuck i only so was slightly privy to that conversation so it was not even a conversation it was say it was stated once okay okay and it it is now it's rent free in my head yeah
00:08:19
Speaker
oh my okay yeah so go over to our check uh go over and check out our patreon for loose meat content
00:08:29
Speaker
okay then we might be treading on uh only fans territory at this point hey patreon can get pretty spicy too trust me oh my god anyway so pertaining to our and you know entire weekend situation that we will be going into detail on uh patreon about uh the drive home was eventful and I wanted to tell the story about what happened and then segue into our topic.
00:09:06
Speaker
Huzzah! Huzzah! ah So...

Road Trip Begins

00:09:10
Speaker
So Lady n um coming from Missouri um swung up through some slightly northern states into Ohio and took a rest but Thursday night.
00:09:24
Speaker
And I drove down to where she was staying in her hotel and met up with her the next morning and got in her vehicle and then We drove a little further west, and or sorry, not west, east into Ohio to pick up the other ah traveler.
00:09:43
Speaker
And we made our way down to Philly. And then um on the way back, you know, audit the reverse of it. based Reverse. Yeah. Yeah.
00:09:54
Speaker
Well, so we were what a couple of hours into, and wasn't that far. I kept wanting to go back and check and see if I had any messages that would help me, but I don't think I messaged anybody. as I think it was, think it was like panic anyone.
00:10:06
Speaker
Two or three hours because we left, we left the Airbnb right at 11 Yeah. yeah And it was pretty soon after yeah my passenger and I got to um ahlyssa previous podcasts Alyssa, Alyssa, to her house.
00:10:26
Speaker
And that was like almost two hours yeah to drive there. so so yeah, it was around 1 1.30 Yeah, not far.

Tire Troubles on the Road

00:10:34
Speaker
yeah not far but you know, lady anyway Lady N noticed her PSI was dropping and started giving regular updates about every minute about every PSI that was going down. was like, oh, okay. So, yeah, yeah we better figure something out real quick. And so,
00:10:57
Speaker
We found a ah gas station or yeah, it must have been a gas station. Yes. um To pull over and see if we... sheets? No. Okay. No, no. It was like ah very, it seemed like kind of run down, you know, small little gas station that...
00:11:12
Speaker
It had an air thing in front, but the the air hose was wrapped around it in a weird way. but I ran in because she got out to check the tire or i and I listened to it too. And i could hear the hissing.
00:11:26
Speaker
I ran inside to see if they had the fix-a-flat stuff. That's right. that They did have... something like that not called fix a flat because there is one that is actually called that and then um i was bent mentioning to the man who worked inside who was a younger guy he was like definitely in his like mid-20s maybe um but he was very helpful and nice and he came out and he like took a listen to it and he felt he could feel the air coming out of where the hole was the tire
00:11:57
Speaker
And it was on the sidewall of the inner, inner internet wall. Yeah. So we couldn't have even patched it or tried to patch it if we wanted to, like, cause they sell ah kit that you can plunge hole in like, it's weird.
00:12:15
Speaker
It's like, you have to push a spike thing into where the hole is and it pushes it. Then you can push in like this rubbery material that plugs it.
00:12:26
Speaker
Hmm. it I don't know. i And I thought about that, too. But it was like the the way where it was located would have been nearly impossible to fix it unless we got up underneath the car and like i right we weren't going to try and do all that shit because i wasn't experienced with that.
00:12:41
Speaker
you know, whole plugging situation stuff anyway. um And I never even used fix a flat either, but I knew it existed and I yeah knew relatively how it worked. So I was like, all right, I'll be willing to try that one. Right. So anyway, we were going to get some air, but the hose situation on that air machine, ah somebody had cut the nozzle off.
00:13:04
Speaker
And so we just went up the road a little ways further and found a different place that had air and we put air in the tire.
00:13:16
Speaker
And I want to say, i have actually gotten confused myself now about how many places we stopped because I feel like
00:13:26
Speaker
we did, we did. Yes, we did get some air somewhere else. And then we got back on the freeway and then she was watching the pressure drop again. She was like, you know, it was going lower and lower and lower. And finally i was just like, all right, we have to stop somewhere else again. And I will get that fix of flat stuff for sure.
00:13:45
Speaker
That's when we found the sheets. And then i went in and I bought a can of the fix of flat stuff and, came out um we proceeded to start using the stuff and it requires you to like roll your car slowly you know in one direction while it's spraying so that the whole inside of the tire gets coated gotcha okay so um she's rolling and i'm like kind of yelling like slow down a little speed up a little slow down a little if i felt like she was going a little too fast i'd be like slow down a little you know like whatever
00:14:20
Speaker
And then I said, okay, now go back forward. And I was going to do it in reverse because the can wasn't empty yet. And she had made a whole rotation. So I'm like, okay, go back forward. And we're going to do, you know, keep spraying the guy. There was a guy like behind her vehicle that was filling up at the pump and he was watching all of this.
00:14:37
Speaker
And he goes, yeah, that stuff's squirting right out of that hole.
00:14:44
Speaker
ah oh he's like you're probably gonna want to put the spare on was like oh god ah so so at that point i was like yeah because as she rolled back or whatever i could see like the wet spots on the cement where it had been squirting out as she was rolling oh my god
00:15:06
Speaker
So then I go in and I go to the like one of the people working at one of the registers and I was like, do you have anybody around here that's like good with changing tires? Like I didn't know if there was people that worked there that helped with car stuff or not. I had no idea what kind of gas station this was. I've never been in a sheets before, you know.
00:15:23
Speaker
Oh, I love sheets. So this lady, and this one lady ah was like calling over like the thing talking to the associates. Like, is anybody in in here good with like changing tires or whatever?
00:15:36
Speaker
And this really super sweet chick who... was probably in her mid twenties reminded me so much of Charlie of the Wabaz.
00:15:48
Speaker
Oh yeah. Just so much of her. And she had like beautiful face makeup on and her nails were perfect. And like, she was just so cool, but she had like, that's so fucking bad-ass that she's the one that comes out to help you retire.
00:16:01
Speaker
It was hilarious because when I'm walking by, she was like, Oh, I'm perfect. I said, Oh wait, what did I say? Like, do you think you could help with this changing the tire or whatever? Cause she's spoke up or she was pointed out to me by somebody or something. So I went over to her and I was like, you think you could help with changing? She's like, Oh, I'm perfectly capable of changing a tire. Come on, girlie. Let's go do this. and And she was so helpful. And like, we got out to lady N's car and,
00:16:36
Speaker
you know, the pulling out of the luggage had commenced. I had to put it all in different seats, you know, from the back so that we could get at the spare. And, um,
00:16:48
Speaker
So I pulled the spare out and I'm looking around and I'm like, you know, usually the um Jack is like right there with it kind of and in some sort of way.
00:16:59
Speaker
I didn't see it in there anywhere. um Couldn't figure out what the fuck. And so I'm looking around all over the inside and, and she goes, the girl from the inside the sheets, her name was Bree.
00:17:11
Speaker
She goes, I will. go get my jack out of my car. No problem. You know, so she went and got it. Oh, by the, by the time she came back, I found the jack in lady N's vehicle and had it out.

Changing a Tire Adventure

00:17:25
Speaker
So we had like two two different positions. sets of jacks of two different parts that go with the jacks. Anyhow, she got down on the ground and figured out where to put it.
00:17:37
Speaker
Like, i I probably could have done that, but she, like, literally just got down there. And by the time that was happening, I was pouring buckets of sweat from my head, like, right into my eyeballs. Yeah, and this is when the heat wave had already commenced in the eastern United States.
00:17:55
Speaker
Yeah. when you You know when you cry like really fucking hard and you have so many tears in your eyes you can't see anything? Yep. The sweat in my eyes was more than that. Oh no. was pouring straight down my forehead into my eyes and I was like this and I was like, ah Lady G, will you please go find me a napkin from the car?
00:18:17
Speaker
It's like I cannot see. i do not want to open my eyes and get sweat in my eyes. I was just like... It was horrible. Let me just say, though, I do know exactly what you mean and how you felt, because I did, in fact, run cross-country in Northern Virginia when I was a teenager in August heat, and there is nothing more suffocating it's than, god like, August but beneath the Mason-Dixon line. So, I understand. Yeah.
00:18:51
Speaker
I think I, I don't remember to be honest, if I asked her to do that or whatever, cause I feel like i knew where there were napkins in the car and I was kind of like blinking to like reach for them. i don't remember what I had asked.
00:19:02
Speaker
Um, I should say miss G, um, what I had asked her to do. i don't even fucking remember, but then I sat down on the curb and I was like sopping up sweat. I was just sopping it up and I was just like, Oh my God. And then, um,
00:19:17
Speaker
Lady N had gotten around to helping try to get the lug nuts off the tire. But like Bree had already jacked the car up too high. And so the tire was kind of spinning as they were trying to do that.
00:19:31
Speaker
And I even realize it was like, oh yeah, it kind of makes sense to take off the lug nuts first before you jack it all the way up. Because then the tire's planted firmly on the cement.
00:19:44
Speaker
um Yeah. So then she put it back down and I started taking the lug nuts off and then um getting the spare and putting the spare on and putting the lug nuts back on it. meanwhile, ah Lady N was on the phone trying to figure out the situation with the tires because she had, they were new enough. They were still under warranty. She was trying to figure out where to go to like go back. You know, she had gotten them done at Sam's club.
00:20:14
Speaker
and you know she had made some phone calls and figured some stuff out and uh so she was busy doing that while we were finishing up the tire and um it was hilarious because like i don't know i don't remember exactly what i was trying to do one of the times when i was interacting with brie i accidentally like touched her boob
00:20:42
Speaker
think i was trying to reach for something that was in her arm or by her arm or something and i like was like i'm like oh and then and then i was just like nothing like a stranger trying to group you you know he's like it's like don't know i made some kind of stupid joke and then uh at the end when we were done um I went and got ah ah yeah some money out of my wallet and Miss G contributed to that and we tipped her some money. And I was like, I was going to stick it in her pocket, but like the pocket of her jeans was a fake pocket.
00:21:18
Speaker
So I couldn't get in there. I was like, uh-oh. And she goes, here, put it here. it's the pocket over her left boob. And I was just like, okay oh great okay, great. I have to like touch your boob again. I was like, eh, eh.
00:21:32
Speaker
Sticking the money down in that pocket. i was like, I'm really trying not to do that to you. I was like, I'm really sorry. was like, I super appreciate your help. or I was just like, you are a badass or whatever. I don't remember what I said to her. but i was like she I mean, she sounds chill as hell. She was chill. Yeah. yeah um But we yeah we got that fucking spare tire on and like got to the Sands and then they I don't I don't know if it was under warranty because it was a nail because it wasn't like an actual anything yeah wondered about that like because nails are you know an incident that isn't usually covered if it's especially if it's in the sidewall yeah um
00:22:18
Speaker
But yeah. So Lady N ended up having to dish out a little cash, which fortunately didn't seem like a ton. That's good. I'm not sure. Tires can be stupid expensive. Yeah. I don't know if she like, if they had a used one that was still good that she was able to like, you know, I don't know.
00:22:35
Speaker
I don't know. I didn't ask the specifics about that. But anyhow, we were sitting in the food court.

'Too Woo' Spiritual Practices

00:22:41
Speaker
Miss G decided that she wanted some pizza. So we ordered a pizza and we were waiting for the tire to get done.
00:22:48
Speaker
at the Sam's and we're just sitting around eating our pizza. Miss G springs one on us. And I was just like, Hmm, where'd this come from? Yeah. So she said, i have a question for you guys.
00:23:01
Speaker
And like, i I can't remember exactly how she worded it, but what keeps coming to mind may be like a phraseology that I've heard somewhere else because of the way it keeps running through my head. I don't know. But it was like, what is too woo for you?
00:23:18
Speaker
And i was like, oh, that's funny. Like, that's an interesting question. I don't really know because... I haven't really given much thought to that. You know, I mean, I know like when I hear things that are too woo, like I know it's too woo. So like, I probably just blow it off. And so I don't, you know, I can't remember what it is at this point to like tell you what it was.
00:23:41
Speaker
Right. Yeah. So, but they each had their own story. She's like, okay, I'll start. <unk> So she's like telling us something about, ah like a chiropractor that she went to or something and you guys ah if you're listening if you end up listening to this i know for a fact i'm going to get some of these details totally wrong but hopefully get the idea across because my adhd freaking exhausted sweaty brain was like not allowing me to completely focus my brain was probably all over the place like 10 different ways
00:24:15
Speaker
Totally reasonable. Yeah. reasonable So I picked up on certain details, but like, I'm probably not going to have it correct in some way anyhow, but whatever. Uh, you're very welcome to like submit a, uh, comment to our podcast and correct me. And so everyone else can read the comment as well. And and they will know that I stand corrected.
00:24:36
Speaker
Um, anyhow, um, So she was at a chiropractor, i believe that's what it was. And he like literally just put his hand on her in one spot and that was probably on her back or something. I don't remember.
00:24:50
Speaker
ah Like left it there for like 45 minutes and did absolutely nothing. And he was like basically telling her like, oh, I'm picking on up on energies from your body and your body is telling me that you have indigestion or some shit.
00:25:05
Speaker
It was like some stupid prognosis that he gave her, like a diagnosis or whatever. Some weird off the wall thing that he was saying was wrong with her body.
00:25:17
Speaker
That like your body's telling me that you, you know, that you feel,

Unorthodox Chiropractic Methods

00:25:21
Speaker
I mean like that's so, that's so odd because like, it sounds like it was like attempted Reiki. But like, yeah, that's not how works. Not very well executed. No. Oh my God. He was trying to read her energies and tell her what was wrong with her body. And like, this is supposed to be a chiropractor or something, right?
00:25:41
Speaker
Like they're supposed to actually manually manipulate your spine, not just put a hand on you for 45 fucking minutes straight. I think she was getting skeeved out by it. Like, this is not cool. Like, uh, why are you just sitting there with your hand on me? Like, this is very strange. Right.
00:25:57
Speaker
So needless to say, she never went back to that guy. um And then Lady n had a story that was very strange. And I'm trying to remember, like you know, like, I cannot remember what the guy was supposed to be to begin with and why they went to him.
00:26:17
Speaker
um i don't remember if he was like a Reiki dude or if he was like, like, I don't know what he was. I can't remember, and I really i feel bad. But anyhow, I remember the part that she said that she had to hold these two things in her hands, sort of like how you would hold dousing rods or something.
00:26:34
Speaker
Interesting. They were like electrode dealios that were like... She was either getting
00:26:44
Speaker
an electrical current sent through her with them somehow, and they were supposed to be able to like pick up on... stuff that was going on in her body or whatever like i don't remember exactly but let's just say that at the end of all this i don't remember what he tells her her diagnosis is but he was like here's a tincture to take and she was supposed to take it like i don't know once a day twice a day something whatever and it had belladonna in it
00:27:19
Speaker
ah Which we know is a poison. It's literally poison. I looked at her and I was just like, isn't Belladonna a poison? And she was like, yes, but the poison is in the dose.
00:27:32
Speaker
I was like, true. So it was like a very minute amount. but it Like enough to not even make her sick? Apparently not. um um So I just remember that she ended up finding out she was pregnant and stopped taking it.
00:27:51
Speaker
Jesus Christ. And then, and then she was speaking to, cause this was somebody, I guess her ex went to, or wanted to go to or something. And then, um, the ex's sister was like, Oh, you went to the quack or whatever. Like you went to the quack. Like, i don't know, like whatever. It was well known that this guy was just a total like fraud.
00:28:13
Speaker
Oh my God. by By certain people like they, that, you know, that knew about him already. Wow. she was like, yeah, that, that, that's too woo for me.
00:28:24
Speaker
And that's interesting because both of those instances were energetic slash medical related, you know, and it's interesting how much of that overlaps in like a too woo kind of way, you know?
00:28:41
Speaker
Yeah. Like that's, it's interesting because that's like where you are most likely to come across something that's like too woo for you, you know? But that's, that was not the thing that, well, I didn't have a thing that I thought of when you, when you first like brought this up as, you know, thing to talk about.
00:29:02
Speaker
But when I came across that TikTok that I came across earlier today, And I was like, well, this, this is too woo for me, which I'll get into later. But like, it was nothing medically related.
00:29:18
Speaker
no And entirely related somebody's very interesting personal journey. um Yeah. Anyway. Involving psychedelics.
00:29:31
Speaker
The psychedelics spurred on an awakening of sorts. Yeah. but Like I said, We'll get into it. I was curious what it was that you thought of um when when this was brought up or if you've thought of anything since.
00:29:48
Speaker
Yeah, I have not. I've been, this week's been very busy and stressful, sort of. So I haven't thought much about it, but I was just like, I just knew that this was the topic for this week. I was like, yeah, yeah, this is going to be the topic. Like, because it's, it's an interesting, it was an interesting question. and i it was one I'd never expected to be like posed.
00:30:12
Speaker
And I thought it was cool. Like I was like, that's, that's interesting. Like, yeah, I don't really know. Like I'd have to think about it, but, um, I will tell you what i what I told them ah story of a friend of mine that I've known since high school, um was going to this place that supposedly it's like, it's like, God, the wording is gonna evade me. I hate words.
00:30:42
Speaker
Um, cleanse you, detoxify you. Interesting. In a way.

Skeptical Frequency Treatments

00:30:50
Speaker
ah Like a literal detox or an energetic detox?
00:30:55
Speaker
Well, I guess literal, but not in the kind of way that you would think.
00:31:03
Speaker
so Say more. Yes, I'm trying.
00:31:08
Speaker
Words. ah So she... Went to this place that basically puts a sort sort of frequency through you, like a vibrational frequency through you that kills parasites in your body.
00:31:26
Speaker
Interesting. Like intestinal parasites. Gross. Yeah. And so like it vibrates at such a frequency that is like the same frequency or vibration as them.
00:31:39
Speaker
So it kills them. like, huh. Is that how frequencies work? Oh, yeah. Think about it. That kills whatever has the same frequency? So let let's talk about... Is this like a sound wave?
00:31:57
Speaker
Like, I'm confused. Yes, yes. Okay. that based Basically like that. Okay, I guess it would be a sound wave because I i don't know how else they would do it. But if you think about, like, the the ladies singing at a certain pitch and then the wine glass breaks, right?
00:32:09
Speaker
Yeah. and she if she can hit a certain note at a certain volume i'm guessing okay and it like makes the gra the glass go you know because whatever yeah so it's something to that effect and it makes these whatever's in your intestines like die and i don't know if they like literally like explode Or what? I don't know. don't feel like that would be a pleasant experience. I know. I'll tell you what she told me she felt.
00:32:43
Speaker
like she could feel shit happening in her intestines. I'm scared. Yeah. I don't like it. could feel these weird like... I don't know.
00:32:54
Speaker
shit riding around in her gut trigger warning yeah that's right oh my god sorry anyhow within a few hours or days you shit them out into the toilets yeah and so that's all i'm gonna do to say but to me that was a little woo and weird and i don't even know if that's actually a thing or if this was some uh other kind of like witch doctor haha that was just like full of shit selling snake oil whatever right you know but she was all believing like all all in if i mean if she felt better then something worked um but yeah it's it's interesting now that you mentioned that it makes me realize oh i do actually have a thing but i'm not sure how much of it is too woo for me um or or if it's like just something i still have like a certain level of skepticism about but like
00:33:50
Speaker
You know how people are like all obsessed with like different frequencies? like Basically imbuing your your life and your own personal energy with a certain like emotion or like characteristic or something.
00:34:08
Speaker
like If you listen to like the frequency of like brown noise, it's like super relaxing or some shit. I don't really know. like it's an It's all over YouTube, apparently. And that is one thing that I'm...
00:34:20
Speaker
somewhat surprisingly uncertain about to the point that I'm wondering if that's like what's a little too woo for me um and it's funny because like I'm all about sound yeah so I studied sound right let me ask you a question so like like regarding singing bowls and chime thingies and Or anything like, okay, like a tuning fork or any of those things that put out a specific tone or frequency.

Sound Frequencies: Science or Myth?

00:34:53
Speaker
Do you believe that when you're listening, like sound bath stuff, do you think that it actually helps and does something? Those things feel different than a frequency on YouTube. Okay. So you, okay. you're I'm talking on specifically that the frequencies on YouTube or if there's playlists on, I'm sure there's playlists on Spotify. i don't know.
00:35:12
Speaker
Yeah. Like, You know, the frequencies that people look up and sit and listen to With headphones. And like, admittedly, I have not sat down and tried to fucking listen.
00:35:23
Speaker
Yeah. You know, but I'm just sort of, i'm I'm like hesitant to even try because I'm like, what, what's going to happen? What? how likely is it that it's really going to make me feel any different? You know, like who knows? There's one that's for focus.
00:35:39
Speaker
And I'm like, is this what every ADHD person wants to try to do? Like, Yeah. That's what I remember hearing about that. That people listen to them. thought it was brown, but I don't i could be wrong.
00:35:54
Speaker
But like, it was like where they could put that on and headphones and it helped them concentrate on their homework and, you know, whatever. Yeah. And I'm projects or like i I mean, for me, if I am in the, like, it, it doesn't work every time, but like in the right way, in the right headspace,
00:36:12
Speaker
Like if I put em on music, it like completely zones me in and I can focus because I've got music going. It's like occupying a certain part of my brain that like wants to be distracted. yeah And then I can just focus on what I need to do.
00:36:27
Speaker
um But I can't, i like a frequency feels like it would just bore me to death. you know yeah i i can totally understand that yeah like signals and chimes have like a pleasantness to them yeah relaxation and also when they're in real life and you're moving like the way we did on the weekend which we'll talk about on patreon where you feel the vibration you literally feel it in your body and especially like have you ever did i can't remember this happened when you came out and we had that like joint
00:37:01
Speaker
Shamanic Reiki session But like did she ever Did she play the singing bowl Like directly around your head Or did she just do the drum Oh Because i she's at a few different sessions I've gone to with her She has carried the singing bowl around And like the like Put the frequency Or put but the fucking You know singing bowl Like around my head a To the point that it literally like rattled my skull in a good way.
00:37:33
Speaker
You know, it was really, really good. And like, it doesn't even have to be that close for it to have that kind of an impact because it's also been sitting, you know, on the other side of the room and i could feel it still in my head at the right like yeah i feel like she did do it when it was sitting but i don't remember for sure and i yeah i couldn't remember if she carried it around i don't think she carried that around but i think she definitely did the drum the drum was really impactful too like she would i remember she did that and that was like more common one that she would do like directly overhead like like on above like our face and our chest and everything
00:38:11
Speaker
I do you remember that. Yeah. Hmm. Yeah. So like sound baths and like, spiritual instruments i yes i am with you um like i i like those i think they work i think they there is something to them um in particular i should say also like that same practitioner she literally like applied you know tuning fork vibrations to my bum knee and it worked she did do those by my by my head and my ankle and things like that too yeah so yeah having an issue with my achilles or something at the time yeah
00:38:47
Speaker
So, like, I know that that shit works. It's the frequencies. I'm, like, not 100% sure about. Happy to have my mind changed. But, like, at the current moment, don't know.
00:39:00
Speaker
Yeah. And I was going to say, um recently, when I was somewhere where I wanted to take a nap and didn't have earplugs with me, I used my earbuds and um put on, I think it was brown.
00:39:16
Speaker
the brown noise stuff interesting i put on white noise first and it just didn't sound good to me and then i did the brown noise yeah and it was like a little lower or a little sea softer or something always always only just sounds like rushing water to me and it white noise is the kind of machines that they use outside of like therapist's office's offices yeah to um to you know to like sort of muffle whatever's being said yeah and the white noise in um that i was playing through spotify ah didn't sound like anything but static to me okay and but the brown noise also sounded like static but more pleasant static and i just decided to like listen to that and okay it helped it was blocking out all noises ah around me and it helped me relax and i fell asleep pretty quick
00:40:08
Speaker
so that was helpful and um maybe I'll try to find one for sleep tonight and see if it puts me to sleep yeah we'll see although Chani did release new sleep stories hu so yeah we and we learned about some new podcasts oh we did yes that's very true yeah we did so podcasts for sleeping Yeah. So I'll turn something.
00:40:36
Speaker
Yap until they you they bore you to sleep. and i It's so frustrating because I actually really do enjoy scrolling TikTok until I fall asleep. Because I find some interesting stuff in that time.
00:40:49
Speaker
And I like it. But I don't know. it's also a lot of stimulation too it's it can be i my my fyp is pretty curated i think also it knows the time of day and it just sort of gives me the asmr creators and the like um the people playing music like nice i love when i come across like someone's playing really nice piano that's what That's one that I will fall asleep to.
00:41:18
Speaker
Just put that with the phone down and just drift off. Oh my god. so but as for woo though.
00:41:29
Speaker
As for woo. yeah I know for a fact there are things that I've heard of that I've just kind of like. Like given the side eye. Like.
00:41:39
Speaker
roll the eyes when they're not looking or i don't even know what like i'm like i don't know that sounds like a bunch of bs to me um yeah i guess oh me think about this it is tough because like there is a lot that i don't think is bs and that's like you know when it comes to the story that i had come across on tiktok yeah i was like psychedelics are not bs Those experiences are so valid. But that was that poison frog type one that she did.
00:42:12
Speaker
Who knows what dosage. Well, yeah, when you're at a festival like Burning Man, which is where she apparently was, right like you never know exactly. Just for context, this is a a TikTok that Molly ran across.
00:42:27
Speaker
yeah It was one of those like podcasts read Reddit posts. but like take like reddit post they like read reddit post as their content which no shade to them because like those are really entertaining usually yeah um but also like yeah feel like guys there's just so many of them um but like this one was just sort of like am i you know it was like i am i the asshole but it was something a little different phrased differently it was just like am i being like unreasonable or reasonable for um
00:43:04
Speaker
choosing not to attend my was it sisters uh rebirth party yeah or some shit yeah and it was pertaining to the rebirth the the like ego death that this this person's sister underwent after ah like you know receiving ah frog poison man medicine at Burning Man.
00:43:31
Speaker
um And like that experience, not too woo for me. I can deal with it. um What I cannot deal with is actually, you know what it is? It's not the woo. It's the narcissism.
00:43:44
Speaker
Yeah. It's the fucking narcissism. Okay, but its it's definitely woo that she wanted to have an entire party to celebrate it. don't think that's woo, though. I think that's just self-centeredness. No, no, The weird things that she wanted to do in it were like...
00:44:03
Speaker
bizarre just bizarre but like yeah and then the self-centeredness came in when the sister was like you know I'm not gonna be there but have good time and she was very respectful ah And yeah the supposed woke person like went off about it. Yeah.
00:44:26
Speaker
I was like, Oh, what? I did not mean to say, Oh, you like not want to be at my, blah, blah, whatever. It was just like, you know, that's not very reborn of you, but okay. you but Right.
00:44:41
Speaker
Right. And the, you know what? Oh my God. And the mom and the uncle and all these people were like, Oh, you should give it a chance or whatever. I wonder if they changed their tune after that party was over and said, what the fuck? Well, I mean, they have to have known what was what was going to take place.
00:45:01
Speaker
No. Because there was apparently a group chat. Yeah, but it wasn't shared with everybody anyways. but like it one i i feel like if the cousin that told what was happening was included, the parents had to have been as well. Maybe. Because it was being hosted at their house.
00:45:16
Speaker
Oh, yeah, don't know. So like, just you know, no it's, it seems so outlandish. It really does. But like, I, one thing I will say is that like, when I heard, i like, I was fully on board with, no, you are not unreasonable for not wanting to go to this party.
00:45:38
Speaker
I was on board with that all the way up until I heard that there were going to be free lapis lazuli bracelets being given out. And I was like, bitch, I'm in. Give me.
00:45:49
Speaker
Give me. Those shits are so fucking expensive for a tiny little pedal. Oh my God. Yeah, I mean, if you want to go and like at least sort of laugh under your breath about everything that's going on and then i can stick your hand out for a bracelet, okay, go for it.
00:46:04
Speaker
Give me the bracelets. I will come and be like, you know what? Congratulations. Good job. Oh my god. You learned something about yourself, I guess.
00:46:17
Speaker
three green lamp let's leave crazy crazy motherfuckers i swear to god yeah but it's like that i really will say like for me like the the narcissism of the all like the need for the party first of all and then all of the like wackadoo things that were ah like lined up for this party yes that's fucking narcissism all the strange little like i don't want to even richly birthed out of a womb that was being portrayed by a guy hired on craigslist yeah i don't know thanks i'm good i don't need to witness it but i'll take the bracelet thank you
00:47:09
Speaker
oh my god anyway yeah so it's like i hate that i don't have like a really good example of my own to be like oh yeah there's this thing blah blah and and something is gonna come to me and i'm gonna be like what the fuck why didn't i think of that to talk about it oh And I don't know, maybe as we sit here and chat for a little longer, something will come to me. Yeah, because I mean, I really have been thinking, it's just like, man, am I just like a really open-minded person?
00:47:42
Speaker
You know? I'm just like... Nothing wrong with being open-minded. Because like, listen, first of all, it's like, if it's an experience that someone that I care about its valuing very highly,
00:47:57
Speaker
then even if I've not experienced it and have no reason to um understand what it means or why it's, you know, significant, like I still hold a place for that, you know?
00:48:11
Speaker
Yeah. um Like I've got a lot of friends who have done all sorts of psychedelics and had all sorts of like plant medicine experiences and retreats and things. And they're all of their experiences are,
00:48:25
Speaker
way outside the realm of what I would be comfortable doing myself, but I'm still just like very on board with what they've, you know, experienced and how they have gone about, you know, facilitating these things for themselves. so I just, I don't know.
00:48:43
Speaker
Like it's, it's the people who are like, obviously the fakes, obviously the frauds, like the fucking fake Reiki people, you know, or whatever that I'm like,
00:48:55
Speaker
no and at that point it's like is it woo or is it just you know fraud
00:49:05
Speaker
like there's there's a good question what's the line between woo and fraud yeah and I think it's a very clear like there's there is stuff out there there are energy workers who are very real and make very you know noticeable differences in people's health and you know lives and uh you know and all they do is put their hand on you you know and then there are people who don't they they sell it but they don't deliver yeah yeah it's really weird how you know
00:49:47
Speaker
this person could be highly recommended by like a number of people and then you go to them and then you feel like you just got duped, you know? yeah And there's no regulations.
00:49:58
Speaker
Like there's no way to regulate any of this stuff to be like, Oh, no, you have to meet this standard or this, you know, do these certain things to be certified and whatever. And there is nothing wrong with like exploring it.
00:50:12
Speaker
And just seeing, know, seeing how it is. As long as you're not getting advantage of, like financially taking advantage so. It's like, you know, that's a very, very good way to sort of introduce the, not introduce, but like to remind people of the concept of like, hey, what's your intuition telling you?
00:50:31
Speaker
her How do you really feel about what went down in that, you know, Reiki office or whatever, you know? yeah. um Like, do you feel like it made a difference?
00:50:42
Speaker
Do you feel uncertain? Like, not that I'm saying like, let the uncertainties like take hold and and, you know, be the voice of reason necessarily.
00:50:53
Speaker
But it's like, if you don't feel a hundred percent good about the experience that you had, no reason to give them another chance, you know? Right. Yeah.
00:51:07
Speaker
But it is too easy to be taken advantage of, unfortunately. In this day and age. You know, here's the thing. And and this is going to be... I'm sure this is going to be controversial with some people. And that's fine.
00:51:21
Speaker
um Because I know that there's a lot of people who really truly believe in this stuff. And like probably a lot of our friends. And even you might. um Oils.
00:51:33
Speaker
Like essential oils? Essential oils or whatever. Yes. I don't know... If I've ever felt like they they really work for some specific thing or I don't know. Yeah.
00:51:47
Speaker
I mean, honestly, I haven't really used them enough to be like, no, to know for sure. But just the way some people talk about them sometimes where I'm just kind of like, these are not, these cannot be the end all be all.
00:51:58
Speaker
Yeah. No, You can't cure. You've not lost me. No, I'm with you on that. I know. like I'm just um i'm like, you know what? Aromatherapy effects, I can 100% get behind.
00:52:12
Speaker
But like, because like the validity of like the way that lavender can make you feel is is real. But like, um just by smelling it.
00:52:24
Speaker
But I think, I don't know how far in this direction you were headed, but you know, the the like laughable to us concept ah that was brought about in the like early 2010s about how essential oils will cure your child's autism.
00:52:41
Speaker
don't know if I ever read that one, but like I would never leave my god First of all, fuck you. Second of all, yeah no. ah no That was so eloquent.
00:52:55
Speaker
Thank you. I will say this. I've heard that where it's just like, Don't give my child vaccines, but let me smear this like essential oil on him. Yeah. Right. Right. And maybe burn his skin because you didn't use a carrier oil because you're an irresponsible bitch. Holy shit. You know? Yeah. Like it's, there's like, that's again, is it woo or is it a fucking fraud?
00:53:23
Speaker
Is it a scam? You know? Right. Is it like fake science? Yeah. So like, you you know, as you said about lavender, you know, really helping with relaxation or sleep or whatever. Yeah. um Definitely, in my opinion, citrus smells um help to wake me up.
00:53:46
Speaker
Yeah. um Yeah. And like peppermint supposedly helps headaches. Yeah. Like somebody had like peppermint oil and they like put it like on your upper lip or something. And it was like, you know, I've never tried that.
00:54:00
Speaker
Supposedly helps headaches. I don't really know. But like, I know that like rubbing oils on my body aren't, is not going to help my arthritis go away. It might soothe the joints while I'm rubbing. yeah But you know what i mean? It's like there's certain things where it's just like, no, that's not going to.
00:54:17
Speaker
Yeah. And this even like this. I don't know how much of it is just the logic, but it's like for me, I'm like this even extends into like actual Western modern medicine where it's like if I've been given like like a topical salve for something that I know is like a problem with my immune system, I'm like, how is this going to help?

Herbal Medicine vs. Modern Medicine

00:54:40
Speaker
Mm hmm. like it's supposed to it's i you know but i'm like how yeah you know yeah and so like it's things like that where it's just sort of like do i just have too much logic i don't know to fall for some some of this shit i don't know you know know.
00:55:04
Speaker
But I will say i will fuck with some herbs because that shit does work. I mean, they make medicines from herbs. so Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's how the that's how they did it before, you know, the early And how do people figure this shit out? Because like valerian extract or whatever it is, that's ah like a dark brown...
00:55:24
Speaker
you know, liquid that I drop into like my juice and mix up a drink, that shit will knock me out. just sleep so goddamn good. And my good friend who I bought it for, a bought her a album.
00:55:38
Speaker
finally tried it well i like made her one night she right i remember you talked about it two months yeah and i was like have you tried this yet she's like no and i'm like all right you're gonna try it tonight because i like mixed some shit up for her yeah was like just do it like a shot just drink it really fast and like it knocked her ass out and then remember this weekend when i received a phone call because somebody was at her house trying to get her attention to wake up Oh yeah. Not wake her up.
00:56:10
Speaker
Was it the Valerian? Uh-huh.
00:56:15
Speaker
Uh-huh. That's what I found out. I was like, that's what it was. Eh? and But somebody was talking about Kava this weekend and I've used Kava in the past and I thought it worked fine.
00:56:30
Speaker
And then what does it do again? It's the same kind of thing. It relaxes you. It's all, it's like a natural anti-anxiety. It's like a natural Xanax. Yeah.
00:56:40
Speaker
Okay. So I had bought some of that for her as well. And she tried it one night and said it didn't help. But this person this weekend said it's the kind of thing you have to take it more than once for it to start working.
00:56:55
Speaker
So I had to tell her. Something about like a reverse tolerance or something. Yeah. It starts to build up in your system where it like works better. i think that's the case with weed.
00:57:07
Speaker
they say they They say that for some people, your first experience with weed doesn't get you high. Well, mine did. Mine didn't, but you know. Mine did. I also wasn't the best at inhaling at the time. Oh, okay. Well, I think I was smoking cigarettes off and on at that time, so I knew how to inhale, but it got me very chill, and I was not at all paranoid i had the best experience and and like never have had so maybe only had one or two since then that were that were similar i was gonna was were all of those experiences smoking because maybe it's smoking that you need to no no okay
00:57:59
Speaker
i have not had oh my god i've not had it with gummies enough to like all of the experiences that I've had bad, good, bad, negative, indifferent, we're all with smoking because gummies were more recent.
00:58:19
Speaker
Gotcha. Um, development for me or edibles of any type was a more recent development for me. Right. Yeah. that They didn't, that stuff didn't exist for like 30 years. I was going to say, you remember, do you remember the lemonade that I used to get? Mm-hmm.
00:58:35
Speaker
Do you remember how you like had like two whole shot glasses or something of it and felt nothing? Yeah. ahanas fine yeah I remember that feeling like I didn't really notice anything. That was like the strongest product I'd ever had before at the time.
00:58:54
Speaker
Yeah. That was weird. I blew my mind i was like, why? i don't get it. I don't understand. I don't either. I don't, I don't have any idea. weird anyway yeah but yeah like uh herbs herbs i do i do fuck with too and uh that's like yeah they were used as like the medicine solutions for centuries millennia if you will really yeah um and they you know in a lot of ways they do help with like the more minor ailments and the things that
00:59:35
Speaker
you know, are less life threatening or happiness threatening. I don't know. i I also fully still believe, you know, ah take advantage of modern medicine.
00:59:49
Speaker
Yeah. Use it.
00:59:53
Speaker
Use it because holy shit. My life would be living hell without modern medicine. I would, I probably, I would not have survived this far without modern medicine.
01:00:05
Speaker
Yeah, I believe the same for myself. There no reason to disregard it in favor of herbs that really just treat symptoms of, you know, common illnesses and not like, you know, neurological disorders or autoimmune disorders, um respiratory disorders or diseases.
01:00:30
Speaker
Yeah. So, yeah. Yes, ma'am. So shall we wrap it up? her Wrap it up like a condom. What? Gross.
01:00:43
Speaker
That's gross. You. You thing. i a nasty bitch. Miss thing. my goodness. oh Oh, I came up with a new nickname for for my kid today. know.
01:01:00
Speaker
I'm like, you're going to have a hard time editing that one. I really, I do sometimes i have a hard time. It's okay though. I didn't say his actual name. you didn't Just send an initial sound. That's it So you don't have to edit that.
01:01:16
Speaker
okay I came up with a new nickname for my babe today. Okay. Because sometimes I call him Beeb. Oh yeah. Yeah. And for whatever stupid reason today, i was like, le bieb.
01:01:29
Speaker
Le bieb. Le bieb. he's living It's that French duolingo on you. Le bebe. Le bebe. Le bebe. Le bebe. Le bebe. I'm such a dork. And I'm the nasty bitch.
01:01:47
Speaker
You are le nasty bitch. No, la nasty. Oh, it just makes me think of the um Nasty Gal, the brand. and and Wait, and... Janet Jackson's song?
01:02:03
Speaker
No, well, i I think it must have originally been, but like... Do you ever see that show on i think it's on Netflix. Yeah, it's on Netflix.
01:02:16
Speaker
I think it's called Girlboss. oh i don't know I think I've told you about it, but it's a, it's like a, based on a true story about ah a girl who started a clothing brand by like, um, selling vintage clothes on eBay and, um, she started a whole business, uh, doing that and, um, uh, the brand, the store, the online store, nasty gal, uh, after the song.
01:02:50
Speaker
Um, And like, I just, I like it. I like the way it sounds. And it's very accurate. I'm trying to think though. I think that the Janet Jackson song was an nasty boy.

Well, going to make sure you don't do that. we'll leave it in. I know, right? None the stupid ideas I have, I get to do. you can't, you can't pay me enough to get into a uterine colored outfit. so um Come on. Don't tell me you don't have a nice shade of burgundy that you love.
01:05:32
Speaker
Come on. but That's not, that's not uterine. It doesn't matter. Any shade of pink or red is, it will work. I was going more in like a peach colored direction, to be honest.
