Introduction and Anecdotes

00:00:24
Speaker
How are you? wanted to say that like on the Marcos today you look particularly beautiful. Why?
00:00:35
Speaker
i can't even tell you dude. I don't know. You just look radiant. You're glowing. Thanks. okay
00:00:45
Speaker
I didn't feel that way. That's not a reflection of how you're feeling. Right. No, no, not really. I got a potato scratching at my leg.
00:00:57
Speaker
oh my goodness. She wants a potato peeler. yeah That would not be good.
00:01:08
Speaker
I'm not ready for you yet, thingy. i'm still eating.

Thanksgiving Plans and Family Traditions

00:01:14
Speaker
So I took a Xanax when I got home and it helped. Well, that's good. So I have a question. yeah Have we talked at all on this podcast about Thanksgiving plans?
00:01:31
Speaker
Maybe in passing? we were good i don't know I don't remember if we've mentioned them yet. I really don't because we haven't really talked about Thanksgiving at all. Like in any of our recordings, I think.
00:01:43
Speaker
Yeah. Like our plans for this year. Like last year we had, you know, big plans with you coming out. here and then this year I mean it's been a plan but it's also been just sort of like the year has been just so weird where it's like Thanksgiving has felt like forever and ever away and then suddenly it's next week yeah um yeah this year is as was it uh it was on our bonus episode last week with that I said like this year has felt just like 2020 felt yeah and I stand by that yeah
00:02:20
Speaker
yeah So i want to talk about next week. Fuck yeah. Okay. So I have a big family. My dad's side of the family lives in the Branson, Missouri area. And um they have migrated there from basically from California since I was a child. Like, I don't know. if I don't remember what year they started moving there, but.
00:02:48
Speaker
Right. Because California is where you were born. Uh-huh. My dad's whole family all was in California in the 70s. And then i think my grandfather might have been the first to move to Branson.
00:03:01
Speaker
I'm not really sure. um And slowly, like, the families kind of followed him there. m So, oddly enough, my grandfather is still alive. Like...
00:03:16
Speaker
I think it's amazing. I'm just like, honestly, so blessed, like to still have a grandparent. He just turned 97. yeah. ah yeah Yeah. He just turned the beginning of the month.
00:03:30
Speaker
Yeah. And he has been telling the family since earlier this year that for his birthday this year, he wants all of the family to come out for Thanksgiving from wherever they live, whoever can come.
00:03:47
Speaker
Uh, because Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday and he wants everyone there. And so we decided to go. I must that from him, bet. Well, you know what? I think it's a, it's when your birthday is kind of situation for a lot of people. Like my, like my mom's mom, her birthday was actually November 15th, which just passed. And like, oh yeah, she would have been a hundred this year. That's right.
00:04:14
Speaker
Yeah, but and Thanksgiving was always her favorite holiday. and But like my birthday is not anywhere

Travel Plans and Road Trip Logistics

00:04:20
Speaker
near Thanksgiving. Yeah, I know. But it's my favorite holiday. Right. um Yeah.
00:04:26
Speaker
I don't know, because I look at, like, my birthday is in October, so my favorite holiday... i mean, I don't know if that makes October become automatically my favorite holiday, but I just like it... October the whole month is the holiday.
00:04:41
Speaker
Yeah, my birthday is... Halloween, you mean? Yeah. My birthday is two weeks before Halloween and I've always loved Halloween. And yeah i don't know. I guess I, I guess I used to say that summer was my favorite season. And part of the reason for that was because my birthday is in the summer. um But also I think I really just loved summer when I was a kid because that's when we weren't in school.
00:05:06
Speaker
yeah so and we've we literally did a whole episode about how much we fucking loved summers and all the nostalgia from summertime uh this past summer so that you know definitely factors in i think but there's not really a holiday that's close to my birthday you know Right. Like ah a holiday that gets like celebrated. Arguably now, like, I mean, the the closest holiday is Labor Day and I am a communist, so it works. um
00:05:37
Speaker
But, you know, but yeah. so so your grandfather wanted everybody who could come to actually come. Yeah. So it is, as we mentioned, because we did talk about it in the bonus episode.
00:05:52
Speaker
from last week, um it is a little bit like a family reunion. Yeah. yeah Which is going to be wild because like, it really is like a ah reunion, but like where I am showing up and nobody knows me.
00:06:13
Speaker
And you don't And a lot of people don't know you. Yeah. Well, they might know who I am. yeah They'll definitely know like, who you who you are because of in relation to your dad. But like like I also, again, like we already stated ah last week, us a lot of them didn't know that I existed until five years ago. Right.
00:06:38
Speaker
yeahp Yeah. And I haven't met like a lot of my cousins um and that kind of thing. So m I don't really know how I fit in with them, but, but you'll find out, I'm sure. Yeah. like that that Now is the time. This is the opportunity. Yeah. You, uh, to get to know them and have them get to know you. And i would say much in the same way that like when you and I connected and we had so many things that we were so similar about, you know, even things that didn't seem to make sense, make sense, like the way we spoke.
00:07:20
Speaker
And the way we gesticulated. our hand gestures and things. Exactly. Like, the way that we were similar in all of those aspects, like, I bet you're going to find a lot of that.
00:07:33
Speaker
And maybe I will, too. Yeah. that's It's definitely possible. Yeah, dude. Yeah, dude. So it's a 12-hour drive, barring any stops. 24-hour for me. Yeah. 24 hours? You're driving out to Michigan, and then we're getting together and driving down to Branson, Missouri.
00:08:00
Speaker
Yeah, from math to mish to miz. That's a funny one. I literally just thought of it. I am. I'm not really fully sick anymore, but I do feel like I'm still a little delirious.
00:08:15
Speaker
So pay no attention to the, to the witch behind the the soup brain. yeah Okay. Then I don't know what's happening.
00:08:30
Speaker
Yeah. I don't know. Good. i'm I'm very excited about it. Me too. I, uh, I have not yet started to try to pack.
00:08:41
Speaker
um I have to like like unload half the shit out of my car first too. Oh my god. it really literally like snuck up. Like where I literally as I was taking Jim to work earlier i was like oh my god. i leave in a week.
00:08:58
Speaker
Yep. That's like when the fuck did that happen? I know. oh my god. the hell? What the hell? I know. oh my god. It's crazy. owing It's crazy.
00:09:15
Speaker
Fucking crazy. So. I think it's going to be fun though. I mean. We're bringing the dog dude. oh There she is. On cue. We're bringing the potato to Thanksgiving. Yeah.
00:09:30
Speaker
She will be a part of the feast. We are going to. um la la la um la la la la um oh little baby she's a she needs a bath here's a question yeah how do we a do we can we do hotel dog dog hotel yeah I'll just find somewhere that that accepts le dog Lucien is there do that exist yeah what is English English
00:10:05
Speaker
yeah do that exist dog hotel hotel with dog yeah dog with hotel yeah pet friendly my god you just look and see if it says pet friendly pet friendly yep god and she is such a good baby she does not bark she's been she's been making tiny little throat noises

Year Reflection and Personal Updates

00:10:30
Speaker
Like lately, which is totally cool. It's fine.
00:10:33
Speaker
She's not annoying in the least because it's still really rare that she even does that. Right. That's crazy. Yeah, she's so quiet. She's the best baby.
00:10:46
Speaker
best baby. best baby. I miss you. sweet girl. Yeah. like i'm I'm excited. I like road trips anyway. And, you know, drive um driving to Anahata's was not hard. It was like, you know, like an eight hour.
00:11:06
Speaker
Right. One way. And like, I stopped a couple of times. But like I made my stops quick. I always went to a gas station and that's where I would go to the bathroom, fuel up and get food and get right back on the road. Yeah. Yeah.
00:11:22
Speaker
I always like to make those stops super efficient. Yeah. That unfortunately is not going to be the case when you have a 10 year old, but, and a dog. i mean, she'll be all right either way, but yeah. Well, she'll need her potty breaks too.
00:11:36
Speaker
And water. Some waters. Um, But little boy tends to need to go to the bathroom more frequently than adults.
00:11:48
Speaker
Yeah. And I can always... learn Smaller body, smaller bladder. Yeah. But I can always bring, like, large Gatorade, empty Gatorade bottles. And he can do his business. Classic road trip, trip, trick. Yeah, we did that. Road trip, trick. We did that through our entire... um New England road trip. Yeah. And I was, thank goodness. you when ah I mean, my family did road trips all the time when I was growing up. And um I have two younger brothers. And so they had the privilege of using the bottle.
00:12:25
Speaker
But when I needed to pee, nothing could be done except for to pull over. Yeah. Yeah. So that's normal for girls. I know. But have you ever seen a she-wee? Yeah.
00:12:36
Speaker
Those things are super interesting. Yeah, I don't know if it would work that well for me. It might, but... I mean... i'm still gotta have somewhere semi-private to use it because your yeah pants have to be like all the way down. I know. That's where you pull over to the side of the road and you get over to the passenger side and you open both the front and back doors and you stand in between them. Mm-hmm.
00:13:04
Speaker
And then nobody can see you when they're driving up. who Yeah. but like Because like, especially if you have the she-wee, you don't have to meander very far from the car.
00:13:15
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Cars that are... I would get one of the... i would get a I would invest in that if I was going camping or something. Yeah. But not... For a road trip, like, there's a bathroom. i'm going to stop at the bathroom. Yeah.
00:13:30
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I was going to say, though, If a car is going by and they happen to look in your car right as they're going by, they can see through the windows to the other side and see you standing there with your butt up. Right.
00:13:46
Speaker
Except, except how much are they really going to see if they're going 80 miles an hour? Yeah. True. So you low risk. And also who cares if, if someone wants to see my butt, they can. Hmm.
00:14:02
Speaker
o We can always invest in some adult diapers too. No.
00:14:15
Speaker
I am more that you even suggested it.
00:14:20
Speaker
But why not? I'm just kidding. If you need me to explain, then I don't want to go this trip anymore.
00:14:31
Speaker
I know. but yeah, as an older woman now, it's like, it's super hard to hold your bladder sometimes if you wait too long. Oh my god. So I'll be wearing giant pads just to be safe.
00:14:45
Speaker
Yeah, because walking to the bathroom is the problem. No, I know. Trying to get in the stall before it starts running down your leg is the problem. Okay. This isn't a bonus episode. i don't care. not that big of a deal. You're hilarious. Okay.
00:15:02
Speaker
so You know what? I'm sure we have women of a certain age listening to our podcast. They're going to appreciate everything I had to say here. Trust me. Yeah, sure. just I'm just making sure that you are, in fact, sharing this information consensually. so Yeah.
00:15:19
Speaker
i wouldn't say it if I was worried. Okay, good. Or I would be like, you'll have to cut this part out. Like I you know say to you sometimes. Yes, I know. Don't worry. Just making sure.
00:15:32
Speaker
Yeah. Little potato. She's balancing on one thigh and she keeps sliding off one side or the other side. So she's not doing a very good job. No. Because normally I lay back and she's sitting up on my chest and I just don't feel like laying back and doing that right now. Hello, baby.
00:15:52
Speaker
i know. I know you're looking at me like, what the hell, mom? What the hell? it's okay. It's okay. Yeah, she needs a bath.
00:16:04
Speaker
Aw. Stinky potato. Yeah, she's stinky baby. Stinky potato. Yeah, this year has been weird.
00:16:15
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, and so... it's been Yeah, it's been weird. as as As we've mentioned, I'm sure, even just very recently, ah the years have been flying by.
00:16:27
Speaker
i don't know if I specified this to you recently, but I know I specified it to somebody about when I had like three years left to work before retirement oh that was to me yeah was it here on the podcast I don't know if it it wasn't on the uh our on this public platform it was on the patreon one of the bonus episodes so i was like you know when I've had three years left, it was like, Oh, it's going to drag. It's going to suck, you know? And then like literally all of last year and all of this year has flown by so fast.
00:17:05
Speaker
I was just like what the, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What the actual, what? And then I'm actually like, you know, I can retire in November. So the next eight, no, I'm sorry. Backwards math. 10 months.
00:17:21
Speaker
months Yeah. Or so are going to fly. It's just going to fly. It'll be here before I know it. And I'm just like, holy crap, dude.
00:17:32
Speaker
so Sorry. You said November. September. September. September okay september next year. yeah yeah Yeah. Sorry. I don't know if I said November. That's just. You did. But I was like, for a second, I was like, it is November. Yeah, I know. Again, what is time? Time isn't real.
00:17:51
Speaker
Nine and a half or so months, I think. And it's going to go by so fast because I was like, oh, that's like the same period of time it takes to make a baby. but but Yeah.
00:18:04
Speaker
And it will go by so fast. yeah I cannot wait. Once you hit December 7th.
00:18:14
Speaker
It'll feel like... Yep. um And that's an inside joke. We're not explaining it. um Yeah.
00:18:26
Speaker
i was gonna say I was thinking about it. I don't think it's really ever... been outright stated yet but i realized um that like yes jim has been on this podcast but i don't think i've ever stated the fact that he's like he's here to stay like when he when he first made an appearance on the podcast we were still thinking he was only he was only gonna be here temporarily but he's still here
00:18:58
Speaker
and he has his own room and he's staying cool indefinitely anyhow there's no end in sight yeah it's like it's like a month to month lease i guess effectively except for like there's not there's not any there's not even any thinking about trying to move anywhere because where would where where where would he go yeah yeah and that doesn't that I don't I don't want that to sound bad but it's just like it's cheaper to live here with me than anywhere else and it's also safer for him where he's at in recovery um and so like there's no reason for him to even consider leaving at this point so like you know it is indefinite as in like very much literally like there's no reason to go anywhere right
00:19:51
Speaker
which is part of the reason why i was like all right well you know you get to have your own room if you're gonna be here forever like not forever but like you know if you're gonna be here definitely um like yeah because it was okay yeah yeah that was that i think that's honestly that's one of the things too that i'm also thinking like is why this year has felt so weird yeah yeah For sure. I had like this year felt so so like a weird and shapeless and amorphous um in general.

Family Reunions and Bonds

00:20:24
Speaker
Like I had plans, like, you know, I had things I was looking forward to. Like I was planning on teaching at Anahatas for months and months before and like things like that. But I was just sort of like nothing really felt like firm and real. And like I increasingly actually felt like my life was sort of starting to like spiral out of control a little bit. Um, and not even in like, not even in like a fun way, you know? Yeah. and
00:20:53
Speaker
and then it was, it was a snap decision, ah toward the end of August when Jim was reaching the end of his time in rehab and, um, had nowhere to stay. And I realized he could stay here. Mm-hmm.
00:21:11
Speaker
and it And it really, truly was something I had not even remotely considered until the moment I realized it was possible. And then I said, you can stay with me. And then he was like, oh my God, okay.
00:21:23
Speaker
Okay. And, you know, two days later I picked him up. Yeah. And he's been here ever since. Yay. And he has his own bed now. ya Yeah. my God. ah I'm so happy for him.
00:21:41
Speaker
So like, swear to God, you guys, like we, ah we've gone in depth about his like timeline and his, what he's been through, but like, it's very truly a remarkable thing to watch a friend somebody that you love and cares about so much, like make such a transformation and then get to be able to like sleep in their own bed.
00:22:06
Speaker
Yeah. For the first time in six and a half years. He has not had his own bed that was like his. Yeah. says hugh Since he was evicted before, like the year before COVID.
00:22:22
Speaker
Evicted from where exactly? With the apartment he was living in in New York. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. man That was like the beginning of when he spent some time being homeless.
00:22:35
Speaker
um And yeah, he, we went, you know, to we went mattress shopping where his parents met us and were very kind to pay for him to have a new mattress.
00:22:51
Speaker
And he was commenting about how like every, you know, bed that he was testing out, Did he feel like Goldilocks? well that's the thing is not really actually because he was like you know they had a whole process of like determining like what kind of a sleeper you are and like you know where you need the most support on your body and that kind of thing and so like the salesperson had like um i'm sorry sleep technician because apparently they're that richie richie ritzy um not salespeople sleep technicians ah
00:23:30
Speaker
who Like based on his results, there were like four different beds that he suggested to try. And Jim literally was like, they all feel good. My sleep, my sleeping like place palette is very unrefined after five years of sleeping on futons and couches. Yeah.
00:23:55
Speaker
And so, but you know, he still made a good choice in the end, I think. His bed is pretty, I mean, not like I've gone and laid in his bed, but it's very comfortable. Nice. I like, I sat on it a couple times and it's good.
00:24:09
Speaker
Yay. And he's got very cozy lights and he's going to be decking out the room in general. He's got a TV. He's going mount on the wall. Woo. Yeah.
00:24:21
Speaker
Is that a new splurge from since he's had his job? No, actually, he found it on the side of the road. oh my god. ah Not the one that you have, right? No, that one I got from somebody that he used to stay with a couple of years ago. Okay, so he found one on the side of the road and it was working?
00:24:38
Speaker
it was um Apparently was actually right in front of our house. Really? So yeah it said it works. There was a sign on the thing that said it works. So he's saying it's good it works. And I'm like, well, test it before you put holes in my wall. Test in first that it Did it have remote with it and stuff?
00:24:58
Speaker
I think so. I don't know. I don't know. It doesn't matter. It's not my TV. It's his. um But I still need to test out the one that I had gotten from the lady that he had been staying with a couple years ago.
00:25:11
Speaker
um Because I never brought it home with me and then never tested it out. But that one I might also mount on the wall. I think I told you about it. Mm-hmm. that I want to do that in my room. Yeah. Um, and use the Roku that you gave me. Yeah.
00:25:27
Speaker
So, um, yeah, but like, yeah, have big changes. Um, closing loops yay yeah i'm so happy for him it's good i'm me too and i'm happy for both of us really like it helps it helps me a lot to have him around not only you know for him like helping out financially but also like it's he's so wonderful to just be around all the time and also like so helpful and
00:26:01
Speaker
You know, yeah like, you know, it's it's easier for me to feel like like I do the dishes more now ah around with him around simply because i don't have to do them all the time.
00:26:16
Speaker
oh Like when I had to do them all the time because I was the only person living here, I never wanted to do them and I never did them. And know that he's here, like he's helping out.
00:26:28
Speaker
But umm like I'm just like, OK, I don't have to do it all the time. I can do it some of the time. Yeah. Which is crazy. yeah it's fucking wild.
00:26:39
Speaker
Yeah. Awesomeness, man. But yeah, like, it's just been strange. Like, I just realized, you know, he's been here for two and a half months. Woohoo.
00:26:52
Speaker
And I'm like, man, does the time fucking fly? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. yeah it's It's been a good been a good thing. if Completely unexpected, which again, factors into the whole like, what the hell has this year even been?
00:27:12
Speaker
But very, very positive. Yeah, dude. um Not cut the topic short, but I was just going to mention...
00:27:25
Speaker
We are so excited for Wicked for Good coming out this week. Yes! It's coming out this weekend, right? Friday, probably? But like, yeah we are going to see it together when we're in Branson, which is going to be like, like tradition for from last year. It's amazing.
00:27:46
Speaker
Oh my god, yes Oh, that was so fun. I'm so excited, dude. yeah i have that was like it was so fun to have you here but it was so stressful not having my car yeah um but like at the same time like the fact that we could take an uber and like spend the day at the shopping center where the movie theater was that is is because it's still there um obviously And like, we just had like our little like day out.
00:28:17
Speaker
Yeah. And like a yummy dinner. Oh, yeah. Or lunch, whatever it was. I can't even remember what day, what time the day. Super late lunch. But like the fact that like, even though it was stressful not having my car, I think it also was really nice to have like the pressure taken off of like, you know, not needing to decide where to go or what to do.
00:28:38
Speaker
Yeah, and I'm not, you know, when I'm hanging out with you, i have not ever really wanted to be like running around places constantly. i i want to, like, I like chilling and doing shit at you your house. Like, just hanging out. I think, i think you honestly, it compares quite nicely to 2020 when you came out over the 4th of July.
00:29:03
Speaker
um and like, yeah, we still did stuff. Like, we went out to eat, like, At least just like one time, I think, really. um We went out Acapulco's for dinner. Or it was like, maybe it was like late lunch after I picked it up.
00:29:21
Speaker
And then... We did go to the drive-in theater. Yeah, that was fun. um But, like, otherwise, like, we literally, like, i we had this the most fun just hanging out in my room, getting slizzered, as they say, and playing Mario Kart.
00:29:43
Speaker
And having like snacks and stuff. and Yeah, and having snacks. And we made, oh, and we made, we made like turkey burgers on for the 4th of July. all with the grilled pineapple.
00:29:58
Speaker
my god Oh, that was so good. did we do the ones with the blue cheese in the middle? i think so. can't remember. think like to those. can't remember if it was in middle, but I do know there was blue cheese involved. I also like to have them mixed with teriyaki sauce.
00:30:16
Speaker
If you're going to do the pineapple. we definitely, yeah i was going to say, we definitely had to have had that included with the pineapple too. Oh, so good. So good.
00:30:28
Speaker
Yeah, it's fun. oh yummy. Yee. you Yeah. But yeah, like just being able to like hang out and like play video games, watch TV, watch movies, and like sit and like fuck off is great.
00:30:51
Speaker
And we got to do that again last year. yeah dude. Yeah, it was good. And we made vision boards. Just the one. The one. Just the one. But we did it we did a damn good job.
00:31:04
Speaker
Yeah. Yes. So i have cousins that are like slightly younger than me that have kids around my son's age.
00:31:15
Speaker
And so hill will he will be preoccupied with kids for sure. yeah Yeah. Cousins. Yeah. i'm I'm okay. For one thing, I do have to double check on the one.
00:31:28
Speaker
who has sons that are very close to his age but like because I don't know for sure that she's coming but I'm just assuming that she is because you know i think my aunt said that everybody was coming all of her kids were coming but okay um so that is exciting because if we go to see Wicked but there's gonna be kids for him to play with and like probably some husbands hanging around that aren't interested in seeing Wicked that can like stay with the kids you know hell yeah but so that's exciting
00:31:58
Speaker
Hell yeah. Yeah. I am so excited! gonna be so fun! I'm gonna have such a hard time like remembering everybody's names. I know, so well so will I, because I'm ah terrible with names. But um I can tell you about the uncles. There's only one aunt. Okay, well, don't do it here. Yeah, I know. Do it later. Yeah, yeah, yeah. um But the one we're staying with, like...
00:32:29
Speaker
I don't know I just have like such a soft spot for him because I remember him from when I was younger and he was always the funny one yeah you know and like yeah I just thought he was so cool and like now he looks like you know an old biker dude i love that yeah yeah he's awesome He's the one have that picture of on the cruise with them 2023.
00:33:00
Speaker
I have the picture of me and him side by side. i did a selfie and like, we look like he could be my dad. Like, i I mean, our face, our eyes, our nose, you know, are like the same. It's crazy how much our eyes are like identical. Yeah.
00:33:18
Speaker
Wow. It's so cool. I don't remember. you have, I mean, you've shared so many photos with me through the years, but even, and especially on the cruise, you send a lot of photos, but like. I'll send it to Yeah.

Family History and Traits

00:33:30
Speaker
Send it to me again. But like, I am very excited to meet him. Yeah.
00:33:35
Speaker
All of them. He helped to take care of my dad when my dad was dying. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. God. And my aunt. but These are the good family. Yeah.
00:33:47
Speaker
My aunt has stuff for me of my dad's. I don't know what stuff she has, but she has some stuff because she moved it. Like she was living in Oregon until recently and she moved a bunch of stuff with her to her house now and in Branson. so
00:34:07
Speaker
I can't wait. yeah Very, very curious what she has. who So... yeah Yeah. And actually, when we visited my uncle, the one who we're staying with, when we were out there in 2020, he gave me a couple of wine glasses of my dad's that have like the la the are our last name like and a crest engraved on them.
00:34:38
Speaker
Oh my goodness. Yeah. i I'm sure I probably told you about it, but... I don't know for sure. I don't remember. Maybe not. i don't remember. It's okay.
00:34:49
Speaker
There's too many things. Yeah. But they're really cool glasses and I'm super excited that I have them. i kind of feel like I need to wrap them up in bubble wrap and like never touch them.
00:35:01
Speaker
hate that. Because yeah, there's like klutzy people in my house. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Or give them to me for safekeeping.
00:35:13
Speaker
Yeah, I'll give you one. You want one? Well, I mean, like, because I don't need two. i like ah well I was going to say, like, I literally can safe keep them. Yeah, I know. But I still, like, want to use them sometimes. So, like, I could give you one of them because, like, literally it's your family as well.
00:35:30
Speaker
True. um Yeah. And you can have it. Yeah. If you want it. Yeah. Anyway. Anyway. Aw, I just ran across pictures of when I first got Maisie. She was such a chunky baby.
00:35:47
Speaker
oh dutch don well She was Well, she might be fat like she was. She might be back to that weight again. yeah She was, oh my god.
00:35:59
Speaker
I'm so glad we picked her. She's this just been the best dog. That's so good. But I am rolling back to the cruise to show you.
00:36:09
Speaker
i sure I'm so tired dude so am I like I mean this illness like I feel like honestly I feel like I've been ill since Anaharas like I know that I didn't get sick at Anaharas but like because I had like the sore throat yeah and then like a week later i got a virus yeah yeah and now i'm like still trying to like recover from that i'm just like o i know yeah last night for the first night in weeks i slept through the night like i didn't wake up all night and uh i'm like i just need a few more of those a few more of those and then i'll feel like a normal human again
00:36:54
Speaker
yeah I kind of came down with, I don't want to say I came down with anything. I didn't come down with anything. I think my sinuses just got irritated from like dryness in the house because there was not a humidity situation happening. Right. right And I woke up just feeling like, and that was Friday. It was like, actually, I didn't wake up feeling that way. It was Friday.
00:37:17
Speaker
it was a long grueling route that I was subbing on and like, the last couple of hours of that route i was just like oh i just started feeling kind of worse and worse and just waiting and wishing for that day to be done yeah so it was tired did you manage to dig your humidifier out um no i do have a new one that i bought that i can set up right next to my bed though good Yeah, mine has been saving my literal ass. Well, my literal sinuses.
00:37:54
Speaker
heaven Literally been saving my ass. ah It's the reason I didn't get more sick than I was. I believe it. um And the reason I've been able to like sleep comfortably at all.
00:38:09
Speaker
so Can you look at your phone? Yes, I will. One moment.
00:38:17
Speaker
Oh yeah, I do remember that photo with the little... is it a dragon? It's an alligator. It's an alligator. Yeah, it's funny. But like if you zoom on our eyes, it's like, what the fuck? Yeah, you're like the same. They are like identical. You really Oh my god. And is that your grandpa next to him? Yep.
00:38:42
Speaker
Aww. Yep. Yay. Yay, Uncle Joe! yeah I'm excited to meet him He's good people.
00:38:55
Speaker
Hell yeah. Here, I'm going to send you a picture of him standing up. It's like full in full length picture. okay It's funny.
00:39:07
Speaker
He cracks me up. Boop! Oh, there it is. Ah, what an old man. And he's so tall. They're all tall. Really? You're going to fit right in, dude.
00:39:21
Speaker
I'm not that tall. No, but you're going to feel like, yeah, this is my family for sure. Okay. Yeah, he's he's well over six feet. I don't know how tall.
00:39:32
Speaker
um Oh, wow. wouldn't be able to tell based on that photo. Yeah, maybe not. does He looks like very average height. And in fact, looks like he's wearing platform sandals. He does have some platforms on them sandals.
00:39:47
Speaker
It's kind of funny. Yeah, that's really funny. It's like, what the hell? Are those his wife's? um Extra kush. And then I sent you another one. kush gap not Okay, I don't know. I'm i'm fucking tired. yeah mean though Look at the last picture I sent you.
00:40:05
Speaker
saw With the alligator mouth open. i Yeah, dude. Yeah, I think his okay, the oldest brother of the five,
00:40:18
Speaker
um i think is the tallest one. m And then this Uncle Joe is like, easily like the second who second tallest.
00:40:31
Speaker
Yeah. The family that I grew up in is pretty tall. Right. They got tall jeans on both sides. Yeah. In fact, it's like a little surprising that my sister is as short as she is actually, especially cause she's a clone of my mother in every possible way, except for height. Yeah. Yeah. My mother is like five foot nine and she's like five foot one. Yeah. And you have this semi, the semi famous cousin who's really tall, right?
00:41:04
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. That's again on my mom's side. um yeah because her Her brother is tall. ah ah Most of her brothers are pretty tall. but Her tallest brother has four four very tall sons.
00:41:20
Speaker
Very, very tall. yeah um and and so yeah there's and and then i'm On my dad's side, there's um not everybody's super tall, but like my dad's one of my dad's brothers is tall.
00:41:36
Speaker
He's like between six foot and six two a um it was like my dad was actually pretty average height for a for a boomer male he was five foot ten okay yeah i think uncle steve is like six five whoa i think and i think uncle joe was like around six three or six four something like that nice
00:42:07
Speaker
I could be off by a couple inches with both of them, but... Or an inch. Yeah. I've never... The funny thing is, like, I am, like, technically above average for a woman, but I've never felt particularly tall.
00:42:22
Speaker
Yeah, I know. I've had friends tell me that I was tall, and I'm like, ugh, okay. Yeah, you're, like, literally exactly average. Yeah. Height, so... Yeah, but, like, and it's funny because, like, I even... when I was growing up, when I was in middle school and high school, like the majority of my, you know, female friends were quite short.
00:42:44
Speaker
They were like five feet and five foot one. And so like, I really was the tall friend, but even then I was just like, I'm not that tall. Right. Well, you, you still do seem tall because I mean, you're, you are above average and like,
00:43:01
Speaker
yeah im all year like Just comparing to like our friends from Anahata, there's only one or two that were about as tall as you. yeah there's one that's that's definitely taller than me.
00:43:15
Speaker
yeah But yeah, I guess everybody else's about my height are shorter. There's a lot that are quite shorter. like Quite a bit shorter. Quite shorter. Yeah. Yeah.
00:43:25
Speaker
I don't know. We really... we We didn't say it at the top of this episode, but we really didn't. We didn't have a topic. Yeah, we don't have a topic. if We're just rolling. Honestly, we're in the ramp up to Thanksgiving. And like I feel like we're just like white knuckling it trying to get through Thanksgiving.
00:43:47
Speaker
Yeah. Get through to the holiday and then like once I get, God, once I get a home, I'm going to be like, oh, I don't want to leave the house for at least six months. I know. Honestly.
00:44:04
Speaker
know. So it's going to be, it's going to be great, but it is a lot of driving. Yes, it is. so Yeah.
00:44:17
Speaker
It's, uh, I will, I will be very happy to be there and I will be very happy to get

Cultural Exchanges and Humor

00:44:23
Speaker
home. So tell me what kind of snacks and things you want to have in the car so I can like prepare. who i really don't like, I don't like snacks.
00:44:39
Speaker
I don't know, dude. I, Jerky, if anything, but like I prefer to have like a sandwich. oh Like I prefer to get like a Subway sandwich and then just eat it when I'm hungry. Like I've whether I'm road tripping or not, like I prefer like a whole ass meal over snacks.
00:45:05
Speaker
Okay. So like that'll probably be what I end up doing. Where, like, you know, in the morning but when we are getting going, like, grab a couple of things from, like, a Dunk's or a Starbucks. Mm-hmm. And then, like, midday, if we get, like, again, like, a Subway or whatever is available, like, you know, actual, like, sustenance.
00:45:31
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Because snacks never actually make me feel ah satisfied. Okay. So... yeah I don't tend to eat a lot while I'm on the road though because I just don't get that hungry but definitely will eat at least a meal like at least a actual meal like yeah while I get really hungry and I can also assist you with eating if you need like as in like hold the sandwich up to your face or something take a bite so you don't take your hands off the wheel that would be funny
00:46:10
Speaker
oh but it would help yeah yeah yeah we'll do it we'll figure it out i like to have little things like like gummy candy or something like a bag of gummy candy to like just munch on just to have something to stimulate my taste palette my brain and whatnot i don't know i think maybe maybe it's just because of how i feel right now but like i don't want like i don't I'm not a sugar person and I'm not a crunchy snack person.
00:46:44
Speaker
Like, unless, i don't know, unless I'm in a very specific mood. Sun chips.
00:46:52
Speaker
No. Delitos more than sun chips. Okay. Like, Yeah, Doritos or even just like regular like, you know, sour cream and onion, ah like Uts potato chips or whatever. Have you had the Garden Salsa Sun Chips?
00:47:07
Speaker
Yes, I've had all the Sun Chips. Okay, I love them. I don't think, I don't think they're, I think they're, hi I think it's hilarious. How much people think they're so amazing and they're just fine.
00:47:18
Speaker
I think they're awesome. I mean, like, I'll eat them if they're put in front of me. But, like, if I'm at a store, I'm going to choose Doritos over Sun Chips. Unapologetic opinions from Molly.
00:47:31
Speaker
i like you sour cream cheddar ah ruffles, too. Those are good. i like... I feel like sour cream and cheddar is, like, a more subtle flavor.
00:47:43
Speaker
I really like sour cream and onion. I really like salt and vinegar. um I really like, for Doritos, I like the spicy sweet chili.
00:47:53
Speaker
And the black ones, the barbecue. The black Doritos. they're so good. um And I do enjoy a dill pickle flavored chip.
00:48:07
Speaker
hu But again, ah really, that's just like a, you know, if there is absolutely nothing else kind of thing, because like god i'll even pick out like sandwiches from the gas station yeah yeah over over like snacks yeah i i totally would too yeah it's the reason i like sheets so much yeah especially ones with sultry grill masters sultry voiced grill masters just like adding a little flavor of like
00:48:46
Speaker
sexiness to your gas station experience. Where was that one at? hand That was at the Sheetz in fucking, like, Allentown, Pennsylvania.
00:48:59
Speaker
That's great. Oh my god. Oh, it was great though. Listen, I love any layer of sexiness about anything.
00:49:10
Speaker
Give to me. Did you say that we got a new country recently? You mean the sexiest country on planet Earth? Just about.
00:49:22
Speaker
Yes. La France. La France. Oui, oui. We are immediately losing them now.
00:49:32
Speaker
be Like, fuck these bitches. We're out of here. my god. dude, but I'm like from Detroit, so you know. that's so fucking awful hate that but yeah that's like a French word know know it's honestly Detroit is better than Detroit yeah the way my ex would say it ooh which ex the one you lived with in his house the only ex that you the one that lived with you didn't know that I thought I told you you probably did but don't remember that kind of stuff
00:50:11
Speaker
He's like, yeah, Detroit. it I'm like, what the fuck is wrong with you? It's Detroit.

Podcast Growth and Gratitude

00:50:16
Speaker
It's Detroit, dude. What the hell? Anyway. Detroit.
00:50:23
Speaker
What the tree of fuck? Well, it's funny because there's a street in the heart of Detroit called Paquette, which is like P-E-I-Q-U-E-T-T-E or whatever.
00:50:40
Speaker
And I had a friend who we were driving down one of the freeways that goes underneath that overpass and she called it pickquque and I was like no you were gonna say something like piquity
00:50:57
Speaker
that would have been really bad I was just like it is not of all the street names road names town names that are so hard to mispronounce in that area piquette should not be that hard right but And she was an older person too. So I thought that was hilarious. I was like, in your age and experience, you still wouldn't know how to pronounce that word. That's hilarious. But hey, it's all good. She wasn't from around here.
00:51:30
Speaker
didn't grow up around here. so It makes me think of this guy on TikTok that I follow. An Irish guy on TikTok. His name is Garen Noon.
00:51:41
Speaker
And he went, there was a, the a grand opening of the very first and only Taco Bell in Ireland. he drove, i think, several hours to get to it. Oh my God. um And he got there and he posted the most amazing review video of an Irishman trying Taco Bell for the first time.
00:52:05
Speaker
And piece de resistance of the whole thing was the way he pronounced quesadilla. Well, quesadilla. Which is quesadilla. You do hear that in the US sometimes. Yeah.
00:52:19
Speaker
You know what he said? What? He said fucking quesadilla. Quesadilla? Quesadilla. Quesadilla. That's funny.
00:52:32
Speaker
And I'm like my god. don't know. It's amazing. Not everybody speaks Spanish so you know. I know. Not everybody speaks French. But the thing is that like Is that the UK and Ireland and a lot of places in Europe in general, they just do not have Mexican food.
00:52:55
Speaker
not that i'm Not that I'm saying Taco Bell is Mexican food, but you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mexican style. Yeah. Mexican-esque. Like, there's, like, Spain is, like, completely different.
00:53:09
Speaker
You know? They don't have anything Mexican in Spain because it's the origination of Spanish and not, you know, the fucking colonized, overtaken culture. Mm-hmm.
00:53:24
Speaker
um and yeah so it's just it's one of the things that like i think we probably as americans take totally for granted is the fact that like when you go like it's it's when i see like tiktoks of expats from america who have gone over to europe and they're like what is the thing that i miss the most about the u.s mexican food like yeah you they you just can't get it there wow so to have Taco Bell in Ireland feels like a huge huge step in the right direction for them no it's the very wrong direction no it's the right direction it's the most not that not though no no no don't come for me okay it's not the most unhealthy fast food but it is like taking their health down a notch for sure being there
00:54:17
Speaker
Okay. and Okay. There has been McDonald's all over Europe for decades. Okay. so let's, let's just recalibrate. I will say the, the, the cantina stuff that they have on their menu. Oh, it's so good. It's so good. And it's quite a bit healthier. I think than like the normal. Yeah. Well, it has like actual fresh vegetables on it. Right. like And I get the grilled chicken esing with that most of the time. Oh,
00:54:46
Speaker
Yeah, I get the, I literally have the Cantina Chicken Burrito waiting for me when we're done recording. Oh, ah yeah. I'm sorry for holding you up from that. worth the like It's worth the, like, six and a half dollars that you have to pay to buy it a la carte. So, yeah you know.
00:55:03
Speaker
But, like, I will say, like, of all the fast food that needs to show up in Europe, Taco Bell was top of the list. All righty.
00:55:16
Speaker
Even if they pronounce it queezadilla. Sounds like you're saying queasy. Queasy-dilla. Queasy-dillas. Like it'll make you queasy. Yep.
00:55:28
Speaker
Taco Bell shits. Except for me because I've got that fucking pitta predominance. I got that furnace stomach. Yep.
00:55:39
Speaker
Mm-hmm. hell yeah anywho this has been chaos time with molly and christina yeah it's uh once in a while we just need to be stupid we just need a we just need a like uh decompression week So, okay, so besides France, we had a couple other ones recently we may not have acknowledged on the pod. New countries?
00:56:11
Speaker
Yeah. Which one? I thought we did. i thought we acknowledged all, that like, the day that we got, like, four different new countries, I thought we acknowledged those. Did we? I don't remember. i don't remember either. but what was it? Spain?
00:56:27
Speaker
No, we had Spain so long ago. It was Brazil. and that was also our first um country in South America. um Do we have a Russia or a China? i can't remember. We got Russia and we got Japan.
00:56:42
Speaker
Japan was newer. oh my God. I don't, I can't even believe, I can't remember. the yeah we got Japan I don't remember if I told you if we got Japan we got Japan anyway Japan oh my um oh my fucking god and and and Portugal was one i think and Morocco dude so we got Africa that's amazing I'm so fucking stoked and I definitely want to come to Morocco one day I love Morocco dude I want to go back
