Wish you could cast a spell to balance your magical energies? Well, it's time to turn to nature's own potion, Rasa, a super functional coffee alternative. Rasa transforms the way we energize with delicious, adaptogen-packed herbal coffee alternatives. Meegs, you actually sent me some samples for my birthday knowing that I was on this coffee alternative journey in 2024. And it ended up being the favorite of all of the different types I have tried. And I was really excited to learn more about the company. And when I went online to their website, I found that they actually have kind of a sample pack
00:02:22
Speaker
labeled coffee detox. And the reason why I was going on this journey was because I did want to stop drinking so much coffee. I was drinking like three cups a day. And it was really making my anxiety really bad. And I was having really weird dreams, if you have anxiety, you you know where I'm going with this. So I really wanted to stop drinking so much caffeine which um kind of ah makes your anxiety height heightened. um And so I was really grateful to get these samples and learn more about Rasa. I tried the coffee detox and um it was really great and I drink it every morning and
00:03:04
Speaker
Sometimes I'll have a cup of coffee or I'm sorry, a cup of Rasa in the afternoon as well.

Exploring Rasa: The Coffee Alternative

00:03:09

um And it's, I don't have the jitters, I don't have the anxiety. It's a really great coffee alternative. Yeah, I'm so glad that it worked out because I was actually given those samples by somebody else just to test them out and um some of the flavors just weren't ah my particular flavor profile, but I figured that you would like them. And I knew, like you said, that you were trying to cut out coffee. And so I was like, this is perfect. And so I sent those over to you just kind of to see if you would like them. And I'm so glad that it worked out. It was it was ah really cool how that happened. Yes, thank you so much.

History and Magic of Hogsmeade

00:06:19
Speaker
Welcome back listeners. I have pulled up the Harry Potter Wiki page, the history of Hogsmeade, because that has been introduced in this book. And we've talked quite a bit about Hogsmeade. So let me read. It's been introduced and criminally underrepresented in the film. Yes. So let's represent Hogsmeade here. Solidarity with the village. I like the first line on the... and I tried to pull up the Wizarding World, formerly known as Pottermore.
00:06:55
Speaker
but it did not have a lot of content. And as I was reading this page, there was a lot more on the Wiki. And so James, I would love for you to perhaps verify if this information is in the um Hogwarts Legacy game, since you have played that. And maybe that's where the content is coming from. um Because normally Pottermore would have it on there um if it came from any of the source material, but the books, I should say. So I love that the first line is Hogsmeade Village or simply called Hogsmeade. In case we were confused. I mean I guess it makes sense because there are times where like if you think something is like the full name if you don't live there or whatever and then you sound like it very formal as you like give it its proper name but it's really just called Hogsmeade. That's true like when you talk about cities or towns it's like the town of
00:07:51
Speaker
Oh, sure. I'm not sure, the city of Sötzensach, and so I guess it would just be Hogsmeade Village. One time I sent a letter to my friend who lived in Germany, and the mail, I don't i think it was when it was crossing from the US to Germany, it was rejected because I just wrote Germany as the country rather than the Federal Republic of Germany. oh wow so now i always look up the formal names of countries when i'm sending snail mail to my friends i um also live in the county of something or it's actually something county but my address is a different name so i could see that too i'm sorry i just don't want to give out my actual lo location on the podcast so that was a little confusing oh my god anyway i checked it out
00:08:41
Speaker
Okay, thank you, James. um Okay, back to Hogsmeade. We all know that it's the only it's the only all wizarding village in Britain. So according to the Wiki, it was founded by Hengist of Woodcroft, classic Harry Potter name, as of 1714 when the Edict was passed, when the 1714 Edict was passed, Hogwarts third years and above have permitted, have been permitted. Sorry, I cannot read apparently.
00:09:20
Speaker
weekend trips into the village, which we do know, well, I don't know if we would know what was founded by Hengis, but we do know the the students can go as of year three.

Debating Magical Regulations in Hogsmeade

00:09:30
Speaker
um The main road is called High Street, which is where Zankos and Honeydukes are located, among others. And the use of magic is regulated by certain unspecified spell limits. Use of magic? Yeah, which was your confusing. I wonder if it's because they're not on Hogwarts grounds that they can't. Oh, like the students have a use of magic limit, not the townspeople. I was like.
00:10:03
Speaker
For a town of wizards, if they're being like restricted to how much magic is being used, that's kind of lame. Especially when it's a non-muggle village. It just says the use of magic in Hogsmeets was regulated by certain unspecified spell limits. and that's a hyperlink so let's click it that's a really yeah very vague spell limits were presumably the maximum spell casting intensity and or types of spells allowed by wizarding law in certain all wizard locations hmm
00:10:39
Speaker
Why don't you know them? There should be a spin-off series, obviously there should be one about Hogsmeade, but there should be a spin-off series about the Ministry of Magic and about their all their regulations and stuff so that we could find out. Now I'm wondering, because this says, quote, Hogsmeade, please respect the spell limits, end quote. And then it's from the Hogsmeade welcome sign. So I'm wondering how much of this is from the films and how much of this is from the book slash game? Well, I mean, there's probably other games influencing this as well. I don't know. I don't remember this one in books at all.
00:11:21
Speaker
Right, ah ah because if spell limits is just coming from this sign from the film, then this could be completely just made up like head cannon. Yeah, this is interesting. OK, well, according to tradition, Hogsmeade was founded in the 10th or 11th century around the same time as Hogwarts by the medieval wizard Hengist of what Woodcroft. as he was fleeing persecution by mothers. So according to the footnotes, that is a source from Pottermore, meaning that that is who ah that isn't from like any of the games, it was the person that was dedicated as the person who made Hogsmeade. So that for sure is good.
00:12:14
Speaker
If you could keep doing the footnotes as I keep reading, because this is a very lengthy page, that will work really well. I have the, um if anyone has the Wizarding Almanac, wait, let me, let me look at the formal name of the book, the Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac. um I got it from Costco. It's great. And it's really cute. And it's um all illustrated stuff. It's like, um kind of like Minalina style illustrations, like that kind of vibe. I don't think this was illustrated by them though. I forgot. Thank you for talking about the almanac because I have these,

Hogsmeade in Adaptations and Merchandise

00:12:56
Speaker
the muggle net.
00:12:58
Speaker
books. I think all five of these are from muggle net. I have the unofficial Harry Potter character compendium, spell book Hogwarts handbook, Wizarding World guide to magical studies, and the Harry Potter Beastie area. So I don't know which one would possibly have information on Hogsmeade, but let's see. It looks like this Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac is illustrated by like seven people that I, and I don't recognize their names, except for ironically, one of them is named Louise Lockhart. So that's kind of funny. Um, but text and illustrations copyright 2023 by J.K. Rowling. So.
00:13:44
Speaker
it this is all this is not a um what and what would that be? Like an like an unregulated non-canon thing. Anyways, so there's a there's a spread on Hogsmeade and it's really cute. It doesn't have a ton of information, like the wiki page has a lot more detail, but it has really cool illustrations about everything. And looking at this just makes me so excited for the TV show and hopefully they'll add in so many more details about all of the shops that are in Hogsmeade and just
00:14:17
Speaker
you know, just more information in general to really like bring us into that world. And also it makes me really want a Hogsmeade spin-off show because that would be so fun to have a show where like we see Madam Rosemurta and just like a day in the life of what she, you know, what her patrons are like and stuff and just all of the, all of these shops would be really cool. um and You could have guest appearances from the teachers. Yes. Oh, that would be so fun. Oh my goodness. When they all just come in and complain about their class. um And looking at this, I don't really see much else to add to the history. But yeah, very cute. I highly recommend people checking out this on the NAC if you have access to it. I'm sure you can get it online. But if you're at Costco, go see if they have it.

Continuity Errors in Harry Potter Films

00:15:24
Speaker
I think we should talk about continuity errors next. Yes. Well, we already talked in length in the first episode of our our first chapter analysis of Prisoner of Azkaban about how Harriet uses a spell at the Dursleys House. And on the Internet Movie Database page, There's a section called plot holes, and that's the number one listed under there. um And 99 people found that helpful. Another one I thought was really fun. I don't know if it's necessarily a plot hole or in the book. We'd have to go back to this chapter to read it, but it says,
00:16:07
Speaker
Harry would not be able to throw snowballs at Malfoy, who was looking in Harry's direction without his arm briefly coming out of his invisibility cloak. And this does not occur. Which I think is just a really fun little, like, not necessarily a plot hole, but something things she just didn't really think through. Hmm. Well, no, but that's from a plot hole from the movie, isn't it? It's not necessarily from the book, because I don't. Does he throw snowballs at Malfoy in the book? Yeah right. Okay so here it is Malfoy shows up and then Ron's about to like launch at him but Harry grabs the back of him so he's like right next to him and he says leave him to me he hissed in Ron's ear. The opportunity was too perfect to miss Harry crept silently around behind Malfoy crab and goil bent down and scooped a large handful of mud out of the path.
00:17:00
Speaker
He was just, a and then Malfoy was saying, we were just discussing your friend Hagrid, yada, yada, yada, splat. Mouths had jerked forward as the mud hit him. His silver blonde hair was suddenly dripping in muck. Okay. So this, this particular quote, plot hole is only referring to the movie. Well, another reason why the movie should not be the best. What other plot holes are there? Nobody explains who the Marauders are to Harry, but in later films, he refers to Peter Pettigrew as Wormtail and Sirius' Padfoot.
00:17:38
Speaker
So we can just assume that kind of happens off screen, but um it is something that I think we can all agree the show needs to really dive into who the Marauders are more than the filmists did. Yeah, that's a really good point that um i didn't I didn't even think about him being referred to as Wormtail and Padfoot, or them being referred to as Wormtail and Padfoot. But yeah, if there's no history or a backstory on the Marauders, then how would anybody know that? A good one that really has to do with the book is
00:18:10
Speaker
how using a boggart to learn how to do the patronus charm works because technically the only thing that should be able to defeat a boggart is the ridiculous charm but Harry uses the patronus on the boggart which should only work on a real dementor. Well from what I was gathering about that it And I mean, I can see how the movie was making that makes this look, but the book was kind of inferring that he was stopping it. It wasn't necessarily that he was defeating it ah because the only way that it would be defeated would be that Lupin steps in front of it and does the ridiculous charm on it every time that Harry was getting overpowered.
00:19:02
Speaker
by the the sense of what what the Dementor was doing. So like the Boggart is emulating what the Dementor is, but not powerful, not near as powerful as what a real Dementor would be, which was perfect enough for him to practice on it. But yeah, the the the Patronus charm isn't going to have an effect, but at least it's teaching him how to use it. So therefore, it makes sense to be using it as a bar guard because it has the same effect, but he's still able to produce the patronus charms safely, but every time
00:19:33
Speaker
he was getting overpowered or every time that he wasn't able to, or every time he was able to to push it back, they got rid of it by doing ridiculous. And I believe there was some parts of it in the book. So it's not necessarily a plot hole is more of a why. And I think the movie kind of and in hinges on that, especially since the movie shows that he's putting the Bogart back into the chest with the Petronas charm. which is not necessarily what happened in the book. It doesn't bother me too much as a as a plot hole, really. But
00:20:16
Speaker
I'll always appreciate the show going into more details that kind of explain some of these things that the fandom have discussed and debated for a while. true I always want more detail. That means that they got to do a whole bunch of spin-off shows. I'm fine with that. Why not capitalize on it, you know? It's going to benefit the production. The Harry Potter cinematic universe. Yeah, it's like... oh James! The HPCU!
00:20:48
Speaker
I mean, like, why not? It would be such a smart decision for them to do that because when they started with Fantastic Beasts, everyone was like, yes, like, we want things like

Potential for Harry Potter Spin-Off Shows

00:20:58
Speaker
this. We want these sorts of spin-off shows. And then they just went completely off the rails with it. So if they actually stuck to something, if they kept it more contained rather than, OK, let's do five movies about this and then went all over the place, they might as well just do literally do a show called Hogsmeade and do Just like what Marvel's been doing um on Disney Plus, where they do like one, maybe two seasons of something. And that's perfect because it just adds in like a little bit of extra character development that we that you don't have time for in a movie. And movies, of course, have different
00:21:38
Speaker
There's a whole bunch of different stuff that goes into creating a movie and putting it on the big screen versus creating a show. So if they take advantage of the fact that they have a show platform and just do miniseries basically that with all of these extra things, why not? It's only going to make the money to do that. No, I think they will because of the money because wait you know we're fans and we're excited for the content of this, but at the end of the day, they're making this for the money and they're going to capitalize on whatever they can.
00:22:15
Speaker
But, you know, that just benefits us in the long run. So I'm not complaining. Not at all. Another fun one. This is under factual errors. While being swung around on a branch of the whopping willow, Hermione reaches out one hand, grabs Harry by the front of the shirt and lifts him up. That would require an impossible amount of strength, especially for a 14 year old girl. I hate that moment in the movie so much because of exactly that. It's like there's they obviously just did that to like get a knee slapping laugh out of people. It's not anything that actually makes sense. it but Well, it kind of just it it it feels kind of standing out ish because
00:23:01
Speaker
eight it's it's It's she's whooshing by and then grabs the shirt. And then you can tell that the branch is still going. So either Hermione has a very stretchy arm. Or that is just not done well. It feels like something from a Scooby-Doo cartoon. Yes. And then just like. Bingo. Yeah. Like this is not. it It always takes takes me out of the experience a little bit because I'm just like it grabs the shirt and then he just looks down and goes oh crap but like you can still tell the branch is moving and so I'm kind of just like what that doesn't make any sense right and again like it doesn't
00:23:49
Speaker
it that it taking you out of the experience of the movie is a really good way to put it because that's like it's clearly put in there just to get a laugh it's not something funny that naturally goes with what's already going on in the scene and The books do a really good job of having a natural evolution of, you know, comedy thrown into what is already going on with the dialogue or already going on with whatever chapter is happening. And in the films, especially I feel like the third and the fourth films, they do a lot of um
00:24:26
Speaker
They do a lot of reaches with their comedy and some things land and I think some things are funny, but a lot of things are like that where it's just kind of gimmicky. ands ah And then, yeah, it just takes you out of the story. I think that's a really great segue into a text message from our friend of the podcast. Yes, what did he say? Because I had remembered um that he had mentioned Prison of Azkaban was one of his favorite Harry Potter films out of the eight. And so I texted him today and knowing we were going to do this episode and and asked him like, that you said this one was your favorite, right? And why? And he said it's actually Azkaban and Goblet of Fire as a pair. But he said it really felt like the stakes had risen at this point. There isn't as much fear for the characters lives in the first two titles. It's more of solving mysteries and getting answers to who Voldemort is and why he's a threat.
00:25:22
Speaker
three and four give you the strongest idea of how terrifying he actually is, not just to Harry, but the whole world. Okay, Zuhair, what do you mean that these stakes are higher, but the the first two films are a lot more serious? There isn't as much fear for the character's lives in the first two titles. Oh, okay, fine. Here, you're off the hook.
00:25:55
Speaker
Goodness me. Wait, when is... i I do wonder though, thinking about the film, the third, when do we when are we concerned about Harry's life?

Film vs. Book Experience: Prisoner of Azkaban

00:26:07
Speaker
Is it because of the Dementor? Excuse me. ma
00:26:13
Speaker
The whole book, they think that Harry is going to be. I'm talking about how they were. The whole movie, we're afraid that Sirius Black is trying to kill Harry. They barely. I feel like they gloss over it the whole time in the movie. and You know what we do, because we're we're having a lot more content in the book, but you've got to remember Zuhair as a movie only. So if he's getting that vibe from the third one, then it must be working.
00:26:43
Speaker
Yeah, but you know, let's talk about why we disagree. yeah
00:26:51
Speaker
um Movie only watchers, I have to say I respect your opinions. And that's why we ask you to contribute, um because we do have a different experience. And so um it's always interesting to hear what you have to say. Great recovery. see I found this Reddit post, it's from four years ago, and it's talking about how the Prisoner of Azkaban is the best Potter film. And so I figured we could use this as a summary of the fandom that likes this one. um I don't know if this person has read the books.
00:27:31
Speaker
But basically, they they said all the movies are brilliant. But the third one is unequivocally the best of the series. And here's why he broke it down or she broke it down to the music, the building of the universe, the adaptation of the world. and the newcomers. And the newcomers is just the new actors that we have. So Sirius, Lupin, Peter, and then Emma Thompson as Trelawney. So the music, I don't want to name names because I think we're going to tear this to shreds a little bit based on our previous

Music and World-Building in Films

00:28:03
Speaker
conversations. But the music they specifically
00:28:07
Speaker
um mention Mention the inter the the successfully integrated choir music into the Wizarding World. And they mentioned the transition between Harry looking out the train window and then the foggy choir singing in the double treble, which we I think made fun of earlier in our conversation. I have to double check, but I think I kind of liked that a little bit. Oh, did you? Oh, did you write this post? No, I didn't write that post. But I did think the transition was fun. I suppose I didn't really mind the transition either, but it was, I was more like, when I watched it, I was like, like, why are we spending time on this choir? On a choir. I do remember us talking about that, yes. Like, there's never
00:29:00
Speaker
But that wasn't in the book at all. So why would you use your precious movie time that you have to cut out anything to do with the plot and add in a choir? So building the universe, they they' really just talk about Hogsmeade here and how hot introducing Hogsmeade sort of, you know, builds builds the world. It's a world building. I think we can pretty much agree with that one. oh Yeah, but I would argue that they barely add Hogsmeade in, so it kind of... hu Well, I think with with with the world building aspect, the world building aspect comes from the idea that the director wanted to include more of the landscape. So those shots that are like,
00:29:53
Speaker
showing the mountainous areas and like the the like it's kind of highlighting Scotland a little bit. Those shots I think are what is establishing the realistic like location of Hogwarts which hasn't been done before and so it's kind of building the outside portion of the castle We see them walking down to Hagrid's Hut and all and all that stuff. And I think going forward, the stuff that they did in this movie kind of established what the castle looks like in other movies. And it kind of set the precedent of what Hogwarts is because really the first two films only
00:30:35
Speaker
kind of captured what Hogwarts looked like on the inside. Sure, we get a few scenes here and there, like that one scene from the lake, what Hogwarts looks like and stuff like that, but like the area around Hogwarts doesn't necessarily get any attention. Well, because in the first two, there weren't hippographs for Harry to ride around on the screen. Eyes over the castle and the lake. ah Why you were talking, James, it kind of reminded me of the Lord of the Rings and all of the kind of aerial shots we got in that film. And, you know, because that's I'm pretty sure it's filmed in Scotland as well. So just getting that. Oh, OK, thank you. Getting all of those just shots of around the world slash country. um I think that is a really good visual way to show
00:31:26
Speaker
world building. yeah So I would like to see that transition into the show as well, just shots of the settings. So I do believe that that's why the film is a little bit more liked than some of the other ones because the film, the director outwardly stated that that's what he wanted to do was make Hogwarts more of a place in people's minds, and by doing that, by filming Scotland, he he did that. he He necessarily completed what he was out to do, essentially. So I think that definitely helps with the world building aspect of the movie, which is why some people like it more than others, for sure.

Creative Liberties in Prisoner of Azkaban

00:32:09
Speaker
hu And so the last little bullet point here is the adaptation of the world. They actually liked that it was dark, but also really silly. And they specifically mentioned the shrunken heads, that they liked the shrunken heads. And they said that JK Rowling herself said she wishes that she had written that. So I'd like the fact to check that out. That definitely needs to be fact checked. And I just typed in JK Rowling shrunken heads and all that I found just with a quick search was other people, nothing the JK Rowling said and other people saying, why were there shrunken heads in this film?
00:32:50
Speaker
So I would love I definitely would like to see that in quotes for sure. I'm not taking anybody's words. Somebody who decided to put the shrunken heads into the film write this.
00:33:05
Speaker
Okay, here we go. Interview with JK and Alfonso Cuaron, JK Rowling did endorse the addition, said she wished she had thought of the idea and if she had the ability would shrink her own head temporarily to scare away unwanted visitors and tax collectors. this is happening
00:33:33
Speaker
I'm blown. What? but mean shrunken bedline
00:33:41
Speaker
Is not real. I mean, it apparently, apparently it's on the DVD special, this interview. Can we find it on YouTube? Not at this moment, but I need to see that come out of her mouth. Wow. Yeah. stay That's crazy. Wow. Strung in heads are ah approved by Jake Herron. Not just approved, but wanted. and And she wished she thought of that. I did see when I was searching for this, when I was trying to fact check this, I saw him something questionable about
00:34:24
Speaker
ah I believe Alfonso Cuaron, telling um what's his name, David Thewis, or however you say his name for, who plays Lupin, telling him to act, um describing how he should portray his character in a questionably homophobic way. And so I need to do some, or I would like to do some fact checking on that as well, because that's a little bit of a, it was a little bit of an eyebrow raise from me about how he was told to act. And I'm like, what? And so who did he tell? What? Who did he tell?
00:35:01
Speaker
Um, the man who plays Lupin. I just forget how to say his name. Um, anyways, I don't feel like ah repeating the words up here, but I, yeah, anyways, so that was a little bit of an eyebrow raise for me and something I would also like to fact check because there were, I feel like there were some multiple questionable decisions for this film. Multiple. The biggest one being the shrunken head.
00:35:37
Speaker
Well, we usually have Zuhair on at the end of a book to talk about his thoughts on reading the book for the first time after seeing the films.

Director's Intentions for Prisoner of Azkaban

00:35:46
Speaker
So we'll definitely have to dive deeper into why he thinks this was his favorite film after and especially if his thoughts have changed since reading the book. Yeah, some stuff that I've learned as I've been listening to other people talk about it for sure because I've watched people review the movie and on YouTube and and just like read some stuff on Reddit or whatever. But I think the biggest can I think the biggest contenders is just that one one YouTuber basically said that the director made
00:36:20
Speaker
the movie, wanted he he wanted to make the movie stand alone. So like if you watched this movie without watching any of the other ones, you'd be able to understand it from beginning to end without necessarily and needing to have watched the other ones. and from basically that point of view I think there was a a success in there which is why it was probably more popular among people because the other movies has so much information that you need from from just the standpoints of like what's going on like Goblet of Fire you need to kind of know who Voldemort was well that's explained in book one um
00:36:59
Speaker
Order of the Phoenix, you know, who's serious and what does he mean to Harry? Like, well, watch movie three and you'll like kind of get that idea. But like movie three doesn't necessarily have any of that. And I think that's because they had the they had the mindset of going. How can we get this movie to stand on its own and make it in that way? And so I think that that's necessarily the direction that they took. And and that's why it feels different for sure. I mean, that makes sense knowing, like looking at the movie and our issues that we have with it as people who love the books and then have our problems with the films. Like that, what you just said, that makes sense for like what our perception of the movie is.
00:37:48
Speaker
and so thinking about what the what the director's intention was and so if that's what his intention was that makes sense for how the movie was created and we might disagree with that being an intention because it's in the middle of a series so why would it why would anyone want it to be a standalone film? But I also do understand that you know not everyone's gonna be a big Harry Potter fan. So people might happen to go see that film and he wants it to be able to be enjoyed. um I still would disagree with that. And I also would question somebody who just is gonna jump into movie three and in a very consecutive series. It's not like like there's know using the MCU as an example.
00:38:35
Speaker
Yes, if the more that you watch of the MCU, the better you'll understand each property and the more you're going to get out of it. But the ah like the Avengers films, those ones you you do want to see each of them so that that way when you get to like endgame, everything makes sense. But The other character ones, if you watch one as a standalone, it's fine probably because they're kind of offshoots. Whereas like Harry Potter is very much year one, year two, year three, like they're really sequential. So it's interesting to think about anybody going in just in the middle and expecting that they would be able to just like watch that and it would be totally fine. However, yes, if that was his intention, was creating a movie that
00:39:24
Speaker
can accomplish that, then a lot of his choices make more sense. Definitely. I was looking through some of the comments. A lot of these comments on this, this red post that I was referring are like, yeah, it's my favorite too. um But I did get some, I picked out a few that were saying, so somebody was like, I don't think anybody will fight you on this. I like this one, too. And then somebody said, I'll fight because I hated this movie. It's pa it's possible I hated it because it's the first one where I read the book before the movie came out, um which I think is why we are having lots of our problems stem from. And then another commenter was like, who are the marauders? You'll never know if you didn't want read the books. And then somebody else was like, um and why does Hermione have a time machine? It's explained in the film, but it's really just shoehorned in there.
00:40:18
Speaker
It's a good way of putting it. and then um And then I had commented on this one back who in the, I forget which chapter, but it's when Lupin and Harry are on that bridge in the film. And he's saying that Lily was there at a time where no one else was or or something along those lines. And so this one is ah says, Lupin, I'll say some nice things about your mom, but I'm going to completely like to tell you that I was one of your dad's best friends. So I think I think it really is and maybe we'll have to take a poll for people that didn't it seems through this these comments that the people who's
00:41:02
Speaker
favorite film is The Prisoner of Azkaban are people who have not read the books. And people that have a problem with the film Prisoner of Azkaban are those who have read the books because of all the content that was left out. Because of all the glaring errors. And it may be because this is the first one because one and two were pretty accurately adapted. Oh my goodness. Pretty accurately adapted. For the most part. Yeah, much more than any of the other ones. Yeah, which makes sense because they're the shortest books. They're way, way shorter than three and beyond. But um yes, they are they're definitely more accurate than the others. But yeah, I think that that
00:41:47
Speaker
I think that this film, the vibe of this film deviates so much from the other movies and what, ah especially after watching one and two, and then this one is like completely different, which, as we know, was the point of like what the director was trying to

Fan Opinions on Film Adaptations

00:42:05
Speaker
go for. But yes, us movie or book readers, we already had issues with one and two, and those were pretty closely adapted compared to the others. And so then to see movie three, we were all like, it's like whiplash almost, we were like, what what's happening? What are these drunken heads doing here? Yeah, I think if there's like a Venn diagram, then yes, most of the people who this is their favorite film probably did not read the books first.
00:42:35
Speaker
Makes me wonder if those who didn't read the books first go back and read the books, like does that change their perspective of the movie? I'd really like to know, like when we get Zu on for his review, I'd really like to know if this changed how he feels about the movie going forward. so wait to find out what he says. i'd but I'd be interested to like kind of have that into like perspective of just like does reading the book change your opinion of how you feel about the movie? It was your favorite, is it still your favorite? Well hopefully he can come back on the show when he's done because I know he is reading it so.
00:43:19
Speaker
Yes.

Any other thoughts on Hogsmeade continuity errors or why this film is the best one? It just feels so silly saying that.
