Introduction and Personal Update

00:00:03
Speaker
Well, I finally got here. I was little tardy to the party today. Thank you for joining me. Today is our daily reading for November 12th.
00:00:15
Speaker
And my name is Robin. I'm within the Family Way Coaching. And it is my pleasure to bring to you the reading out of our Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:26
Speaker
Thank you so much for joining me for this November 12th reading, which isn't even being recorded until after midnight on the 13th. Man, oh man, i i just have been struggling.
00:00:38
Speaker
i have had so much I feel like to do that I think I've been placing my priorities in the wrong order. And I have had so many things coming up with cars that suddenly decide not to work.
00:00:52
Speaker
So I have to go pick up my daughter and rescue her and buy jumper cables and... get the car going. And we just changed the alternator on that truck too. And it's just still having, I think, the same issue it was having.
00:01:06
Speaker
And every time my daughter gets into this truck, something happens. If I drive it, totally fine. No issues. I can take it to the gas station, to the car wash, turn it off, turn it on.
00:01:19
Speaker
But as soon as she drives it and then tries to start it up again, it just won't start. So if you don't mind praying for me on that, I would appreciate that.
00:01:31
Speaker
I finally have taken it into the shop because I've done all the diagnostics I can do on it. My husband and I do a fair share of our own ah repair work, and he just changed the alternator this week, and it's still doing the exact same thing that supposedly the alternator was supposed to fix.
00:01:48
Speaker
So... I was not able to get my recording done before I had to scoot off to work today. I was lucky to get a shower, I felt like, today. I was like, I am getting a shower, and there is just no two ways about it.
00:02:03
Speaker
Got to make sure I'm showering.

Reading from Romans and God's Love

00:02:06
Speaker
Not too busy for that. So thank you for being here with me as I yeah go through my list of excuses as to why it's now late for my recording to get out to you guys.
00:02:17
Speaker
But if you are following along on that bookmarking commitment calendar, let's take that out. Let's get those stickers ready. And let's get ready to cross off today's date for November 12th as we get ready because we're going to read the Bible today, even though we're late.
00:02:37
Speaker
ah Today we are going to be reading about God's wonderful love for us and the fact that nothing, nothing can keep us away from that love.
00:02:51
Speaker
Not even being late on my recording.
00:02:56
Speaker
So today we are going to be picking up In the book of Romans, sorry if I sound like I'm yawning. Oh, that's terrible. I tried not to yawn there. ah The book of Romans chapters 8, 9, and 10.
00:03:10
Speaker
And this includes some of, I think, everybody's favorite readings. So if you have not read these by chance, or you have not heard them, or even if you have, I really want to encourage you to pick up your big Bible sometime after we you finish listening or watching this reading for today, because it may help you to have deeper understanding.

Freedom in the Spirit through Jesus

00:03:32
Speaker
of these amazing chapters. Karen Henley has done a fantastic job giving us the the Bible in a very easy to understand way. But ah so that no matter how young we are, like you Diamond or Forrest or Jedi, that we can understand these really deep, complex concepts that Paul is explaining to us.
00:03:57
Speaker
And ah It just really is a big eye opener that then once you, they work as a bridge. This is a great bridge reading of the Bible.
00:04:08
Speaker
Once we hear or read this version where it's so simple, then we go into the big Bible and we read the more intense details, the complex details.
00:04:22
Speaker
And it just becomes even more rich as we understand or try to understand because there is just so much. It's like, even though we think we get it, there's just always more depth because God is so deep and amazing.
00:04:40
Speaker
It just seems like it's so simple, but yet it's also, it encompasses, it includes so much that when we start to really understand even just some of the depth, it can be emotionally overwhelming and it can lead us into tears as our spirit but rejoices in the realization of how deep God loves us and all that he does for us.
00:05:12
Speaker
So let's pick up today. And begin in chapter eight here. And this is ah one of a very, this is a very often quoted verse where we are often familiar with now there is no condemnation in those. ah There is, oh, I'm drawing a blank. It's exactly how to say that.
00:05:35
Speaker
There is now no condemnation. Those of us in Christ Jesus, I think is how it goes. going to read that out loud in our big Bible. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Messiah Jesus.
00:05:52
Speaker
That's right. For the law of the spirit of life in Messiah yeah Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
00:06:04
Speaker
So now let's read that in our Karen Henley version here. People who follow Jesus don't get blamed for their sins. And that's because the law of God's spirit makes us free from sin's law.
00:06:19
Speaker
And it makes us free from death. The old law didn't have that power. And it wasn't strong enough to get rid of sin inside of us.
00:06:31
Speaker
But God was strong enough to set us free from death. And God sent his own son, Jesus. And Jesus lived in a body just like a man. And he was a special shall gift that God gave to pay the price of sin.
00:06:49
Speaker
Because the law says that if you sin, you die. And we did sin, so we should die. But instead...
00:07:00
Speaker
Jesus died and he did it for us. And now we don't live by sin. We live by the Spirit.
00:07:12
Speaker
Now some people do a live by sin and they just think about what they want. And when sin controls a mind, there is death.
00:07:24
Speaker
But some people, they live by the Spirit. And they think about what the spirit wants. And when the spirit controls the mind, just like we talked about yesterday, there is life and shalom.
00:07:42
Speaker
A sinful mind does not like God. It doesn't follow God's law. It can't. When sin controls people, they cannot

Interpretation of Romans: Sin and Spirit

00:07:55
Speaker
please God. and
00:07:57
Speaker
But sin does not control you. so God's spirit controls you if his spirit lives within you. God made Jesus come back to life.
00:08:09
Speaker
And let's say that his spirit does live inside of you. Then he will give life to your body too.
00:08:19
Speaker
So guess what? We have a job to do and it's not our job to follow sin. That will bring us death. Our job is to live by the Spirit.
00:08:34
Speaker
People who follow God's Spirit are God's children. So we can call to Him, Daddy, Father.
00:08:44
Speaker
Someday, everything God made will be free. Things He made won't grow old or break down. They won't die or rust or rot.
00:08:58
Speaker
And our hard times are nothing when we think about what is coming. We wait to have our bodies made new. That's what we hope for. Now God's spirit helps us.
00:09:14
Speaker
I love this part. God's spirit helps us. We don't know what we should pray for, but guess what? The spirit does.
00:09:26
Speaker
So he prays for us. And he tells God things that we don't know how to say. God looks into our hearts and he knows what the Spirit has in mind.
00:09:42
Speaker
And the Spirit prays for what God wants for us.
00:09:48
Speaker
And we know that God makes everything turn out for our good. said And he does this for people who love and follow him.
00:10:00
Speaker
God knew us before we were born. He planned for us to grow to be like Jesus. And that way, Jesus will be his first son.
00:10:11
Speaker
But we can be God's children too. We can be Jesus's brothers and sisters. Yay!
00:10:22
Speaker
I love that part. And if God is for us, who could possibly be against us? He didn't keep back his own son.
00:10:35
Speaker
He gave up Jesus for all of us. So don't you think that he will give us everything that we need? And who will blame us for anything?
00:10:49
Speaker
God chose us. He makes us good and right with him. um who can say that what we do?
00:11:01
Speaker
Who can say we do what is wrong? Jesus died. And what's more, he came back to life. And now he is at God's right side.
00:11:15
Speaker
And Jesus prays for us too. Isn't that wonderful? Jesus prays for us.
00:11:27
Speaker
Our big Bible says he is interceding for us.
00:11:33
Speaker
So can take us away from Jesus's love? Can trouble take us away? Diamond, what do you think? can Is there anything that can take Jesus's love away from you?
00:11:47
Speaker
How about you, Jedi? What do you think? Do you think that there is anything that can take away Jesus' love from you? What about trouble?
00:11:58
Speaker
Is there any kind of trouble, the forest, that can take Jesus' love away from you? How about some really hard times? Pearl, you are growing up.
00:12:12
Speaker
and Are there any kinds of difficult, hard times that you can face in your teenage years that can take Jesus' love away from you?
00:12:25
Speaker
what if people treat us badly for doing good? Can that take us away from Jesus' love? How about needing food? You have people that come to you when they need food because they are hungry and God sends them to you.
00:12:42
Speaker
So do you think that the fact that they need food can take them away from Jesus' love, even if they're hungry and all they can think about is food?
00:12:52
Speaker
What if we need clothes? Can that take us away from his love? Can danger they take us away?
00:13:04
Speaker
No, you were right. No, no, no, no. These things can never, ever take us away from Jesus's love.
00:13:16
Speaker
And we are more than winners because he loves us.
00:13:23
Speaker
Paul says, i am sure of this. Our big Bible says, I am convinced
00:13:30
Speaker
Death cannot keep us from God's love. And life cannot keep us from God's love. Angels cannot. Bad spirits can't.
00:13:45
Speaker
Nothing that is with us right now can keep God's love away from us.

Call to Salvation through Belief in Jesus

00:13:53
Speaker
Nothing that can ever happen will keep God's love away from us.
00:13:58
Speaker
No power can keep God's love away. Nothing high, nothing low, nothing in the world can keep God's love from us.
00:14:10
Speaker
We will always, always have this love from Jesus. Amen. Praise God. Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord.
00:14:25
Speaker
And now moving on to chapter 9, Paul is switching to a different topic.
00:14:32
Speaker
My heart is very sad. Now remember, as he writes this letter to the Romans, this is a community of both Jewish people and Gentile people.
00:14:47
Speaker
I am sad because of my people, the Jews. I could let myself be taken away from Jesus, and I would do it if it would bring the Jewish people to him.
00:15:01
Speaker
He chose them to be his children. God's promises belong to them. he gave them the law and worship, and their family from long ago were God's people. And Jesus even comes from their family line.
00:15:21
Speaker
But God did not just choose Jewish people. He also chose people who are not Jewish. God gave this message to Hosea the prophet.
00:15:35
Speaker
There are some who are not my people, but I will call them my people. There are some who are not my loved ones, but I will call them my loved ones.
00:15:50
Speaker
He is referring to the Gentile believers. So what can we say? That the Jewish people tried to be right by keeping the rules, but that didn't make them right with God.
00:16:03
Speaker
And that's because they did not believe. e People who are not Jewish didn't even try to be right with God. But God made them right with Him anyways. And that's because they believed God.
00:16:22
Speaker
Here is what my heart wants. Here is what I ask God to do for the Jews. I pray that they will be saved. I can tell you about the Jewish people.
00:16:36
Speaker
They work hard for God, but they don't really know what they are doing. They tried to be right on their own, but being right is a gift.
00:16:50
Speaker
It is a gift from God. The Jewish people would not let God give it to them. The law was given to the Jews, and it was given so that they would come to Jesus.
00:17:06
Speaker
Then they could be right with God, like everyone who believes. God's word is near you.
00:17:17
Speaker
It's in your mouth. It is in your heart. And that is the faith that we are talking about right now. So say it with your mouth.
00:17:31
Speaker
Jesus Lord. Can you say all that with me? Can everybody who is listening to this recording say that? Jesus is Lord.
00:17:45
Speaker
And believe that God has made him come back to life again. Believe it. And then... When you do that, you will be saved.
00:17:57
Speaker
And when you believe with your heart, it's just as if you had never, ever sinned. And when you say with your mouth that you believe, you are saved.
00:18:13
Speaker
Now Jewish people are no different than people who are not Jewish. God is the Lord of both of them. And he gives good things to everyone who calls on his name.
00:18:25
Speaker
And the prophet Joel said it this way. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
00:18:37
Speaker
Hallelujah. Hallelujah. That means praise God.

Jewish and Gentile Believers: Inclusive Salvation

00:18:44
Speaker
But they cannot talk to Jesus if they don't believe in him. And they can't believe in Jesus if they have never heard of him. And they can't hear about Jesus if nobody tells them.
00:19:00
Speaker
And nobody can tell them unless someone sends people to go tell them. Isaiah wrote this. People's feet are beautiful when they bring good news.
00:19:14
Speaker
Now did the Jewish people hear? Yes. The psalm says it this way. It was as if everything God made could talk.
00:19:27
Speaker
The words went around the world. He is referring to us taking the good news of Jesus around the and entire world.
00:19:42
Speaker
Paul says, next question. Didn't the Jewish people understand? Moses wrote these words from God. I will use people who are not Jewish.
00:19:56
Speaker
They will make Jewish people want what they have. What is it that we have that they want?
00:20:07
Speaker
God's Holy Spirit and salvation from sin and reconciliation with our God. We need to pray that they will see the joy that we have because we have God's spirit and reconciliation and forgiveness of sins so that they will see it and covet it, that they will want what we have.
00:20:36
Speaker
Let's pray for that. Isaiah wrote these words from God. The words are about people who are not Jewish. Isaiah said, people who did not look for me found me.
00:20:53
Speaker
I showed who I am to people who did not ask for me.
00:20:59
Speaker
God is so generous. We weren't looking or asking for him. He came looking for us.
00:21:09
Speaker
Here is what God said about the Jewish people. I have held out my hands to these people all day long, but they will not come to me.
00:21:23
Speaker
And that's almost like a cliffhanger because that is the end of our reading today.
00:21:31
Speaker
Wow. We sure covered a lot. God is sad that his people are not wanting to come to him. However, God intended to use that for good because the Jewish people did not readily accept Jesus.
00:21:50
Speaker
It caused the apostles, the disciples, the emissaries to travel further out to take God's word all around the world.
00:22:02
Speaker
The way Paul writes it, or he the way he explains it, rather, I should say, not just writes it, but that God said that It's as if, where is that?

God's Plan for Good: Trust and Provision

00:22:25
Speaker
Everyone, oh no, where it go?
00:22:34
Speaker
Here we go. It says, the psalm says it this way. It was as if everything God made could talk. The words went around the world.
00:22:47
Speaker
So you see, we're going to circle that back around and make connection with our daily application. God works everything to the good for those people who love and follow him.
00:23:05
Speaker
the Jewish people will' have will eventually come to know him as their savior. But in the meantime, God is still working it out for good because he is using that to draw all people to himself.
00:23:23
Speaker
Whereas previously, it was just God's people were in Israel. And that was a very so it is a very small area when you think about it in comparison to the entire world.
00:23:36
Speaker
So God uses everything for good. Nothing is too hard for our God. So our daily application for us today is that God has made everything, is making everything good for us.
00:23:56
Speaker
And we can be, but he will and he will give us everything that we need in that, nothing and gosh, my words are not coming as easily tonight. Maybe it's because I'm getting tired.
00:24:16
Speaker
And since he will give us everything we need, we don't need to worry about our hard times. As Paul said, our hard times are nothing when we think about what is coming.
00:24:29
Speaker
God takes care of us in every way. Even his Holy Spirit prays for us. I love that part. He says, we don't even know what we should pray for, but the Spirit does.
00:24:43
Speaker
So even though we don't know what we need, God knows what we need. And this is so consistent with what Jesus taught us when he said not to worry about anything because God knows everything that we need before we even ask him about it.

Encouragement to Trust and Share the Message

00:25:00
Speaker
And he says that if we seek him first, everything else will be taken care of. And so while God is taking care of everything, Jesus is praying for us as well as the Holy Spirit.
00:25:15
Speaker
They are praying for us. They are working everything together for our good. And there is nothing that can stop them from loving us.
00:25:27
Speaker
What a great daily application. Everything ties together, doesn't it? And it's beautiful the way we have even the example of ah the Jewish people ah rejecting Jesus and God using that for good in order to spread the word about himself all throughout the world so that those who were not called his beloved would be called his beloved.
00:25:57
Speaker
That those who are not his people would become his people. That those who were not looking for him would be found by him.
00:26:09
Speaker
That's awesome. And nothing that is, and because, and since God is for us, for all of these things, how can anything be against us?
00:26:22
Speaker
I love how that all ties together, don't you? That God loves us so much that everything works out together for our good. yeah Even the things that look supposedly bad.
00:26:34
Speaker
We've been reading about that all year this year. That even things that look supposedly bad, God is working good through all of those things. Even though it looks bad that the Jewish people are rejecting God, God is using it for good in order to push his good news out to the entire world.
00:26:57
Speaker
I'm just in awe when we look and see just that little bit of God's big picture. There is so much that we cannot see that God is doing.
00:27:09
Speaker
so much that we just don't even know. And we are just so privileged that God has shown us what little bit he has shown us. but We can see that nothing is impossible with him.
00:27:21
Speaker
God is working on so many levels, in so many places, in so many ways. We just cannot possibly be aware of all of it. And it's kind of like that with his word too, that even though it this was written down as a letter from Paul, the Holy Spirit was speaking through him.
00:27:43
Speaker
And Paul tells us that today too. He says, God's spirit lives in you. It lives in him. it lived in him. So this is the Holy Spirit giving us this message.
00:27:57
Speaker
So I hope that you are encouraged today. I hope that you are just delighted in knowing that there is nothing that can take away God's love for you. Nothing.
00:28:09
Speaker
Absolutely nothing. And our adversary, he loves to say, well, you've committed such and such a sin. he' He's not going to love you now.
00:28:20
Speaker
Or he doesn't love you as much because you did such and such a thing. All of our sins, there is no condemnation for us, Paul tells us today.
00:28:32
Speaker
We have belief in Jesus, we have confessed it with our mouths, and we believe in our heart. And so we are now being controlled by the Spirit, and the Spirit Praise for us as God brings good for us so that nothing is against us.
00:28:53
Speaker
Nothing, not angels, not bad spirits, nothing, no troubles. There is nothing that can separate us. There is nothing that can be against us.
00:29:05
Speaker
God is for us. Nothing can prevail against us. Jesus won over death. And now we have eternal life. We don't even have death that can separate us.
00:29:18
Speaker
Amen and hallelujah. Thank you, God. I am so thankful for today's reading. It is so uplifting. And I just am so grateful to our God for his great love that knows no ends.
00:29:34
Speaker
He gave us his son. He will deny us nothing else to take care of us. If he gave us the biggest thing, he's not going to suddenly withhold something from us now.
00:29:46
Speaker
Nothing. Well, thank you for joining me for today's daily reading. I hope that you are encouraged that you just want to share this and help us spread the word about reading God's word.
00:29:59
Speaker
As we read today, beautiful are the feet that carry the good news. And I hope that you realize that your feet are also beautiful and are carrying God's good news.
00:30:13
Speaker
So let's help us spread the word about reading God's words so that everybody has the opportunity to know all over the world that God is for them and God loves them.
