Today we will read Acts Chapter 27.

In our reading today Paul is given a message of reassurance from God through a visit from an angel who tells him that he and all those with him will survive the trip because Paul must testify in Rome. After receiving the message Paul provided encouragement to those aboard by telling them that he belonged to God and he believed God would do what He said. We saw that Paul's faith and encouragement was not misplaced, because although the ship was wrecked and the cargo lost, all the people survived the journey to end up on an island, just as the angel said it would be.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Jesus' promise that He will always be with us, even to the end of time as well as see God's faithfulness to always help us and be with us. Together, these two facts give us the basis for our faith that we can always trust in God to  be with US the same way He has always been with others, whether it was 3,000 years ago, today, or the in the future. We need to use our faith to encourage others and lead by example, the way we saw Paul do today, and be the witnesses we are called to be in extraordinary circumstances God will take us through, circumstances that look absolutely impossible to everyone else. I will share my experience with such a circumstance when I talk about my husband's recovery process from his stroke and I knew God was telling me that He would heal him, whereas to every other "medical professional" it was impossible. NOTHING is impossible for our God. NOTHING.

Introduction and New Features

00:00:03
Speaker
Good day everybody! Today is November 21st. My name is Robin. I'm with In The Family Way Coaching and it is my pleasure to bring to you today's bily bait ah daily Bible reading out of our day-by-day kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:21
Speaker
Boy, got a little tongue-tied there, didn't I? I must be super excited today. i am. Thank you so much for joining me today again, whether you are following along on your podcast or whether you're watching the video somewhere.
00:00:35
Speaker
And if you are following along using your calendar, it's time to take that out. Get that sticker ready. Get your crayon, your pen, whatever you're using to cross off those days, because we're going to hear the Bible today.
00:00:51
Speaker
Well, i wanted to make a few announcements. I am super excited about a couple of things. God is so awesome. He is really growing this event. Thank you so much to our new subscribers and welcome. I am so glad that you are here and that you found the event listen or watch worthy for you to keep on your subscriber follow list.
00:01:11
Speaker
I'm so glad. I am just loving this event this year. I don't know what I'm going to do next year. I've been toying around. I've spoken a couple of times about doing um like a second helping using the full version of the Bible and reading. And it would only be about a 15 minute read and then some discussion time. So it probably would work out to about the same amount of time that we spend here.
00:01:33
Speaker
And then that would be like a level two kind of a course. This is more like an intro course since we are using a an abbreviated course. Bible to do our daily reading.
00:01:45
Speaker
And I received a notification from YouTube this past week saying that they were rolling out a new feature that my channel was eligible for. And that is something that I looked into early this year.

Celebrating Multilingual Access

00:02:00
Speaker
So if you were here with me many months ago, around the March, April, May time, then you may have heard me speak about the fact that I was looking into getting ah and a transcription. so that this event would be able to be dubbed into Spanish. That was the main language I was looking at. And there was no, um it wasn't ah it wasn't very financially feasible. There was one option that was sort of that was relatively financially feasible, but I kept waiting on Amazon to get back with me with a quote and nobody ever got back to me. They kept saying, we're sorry, we're getting back to you so late, give us some more time. And eventually it just kind of petered out and I was a little bit, I'd forgotten about it for a little while.
00:02:48
Speaker
But now I feel like God has gifted this channel with, or this event with the gift of tongues. Because now this event, if you are watching the video, I don't know if it will work on the audio version on YouTube, because that uploads from my RSS feed, from my podcast hosting website. I don't upload directly. to the podcasting it comes from the feed and the video however i upload manually so the videos are supposed to be available in multiple languages i think it's 11 languages it's now going to be available in spanish which is very helpful here in the united states since we have many spanish-speaking people here in our country and close by our country so it was uh
00:03:38
Speaker
It was important to me that this event be made available in multiple languages, but I had not taken the time to financially pursue that option.

Milestone Achievement

00:03:47
Speaker
I was not able to do it for free, whereas literally everything else I'm doing for this event, although it takes time, I'm not paying for any services, not paying for podcast hosting, I'm not paying for Zoom to record, or any kind of um distribution.
00:04:05
Speaker
um So it's been it's been really great in that sense. But I was wanting to do some some AI dubbing so I could get this event translated into multiple languages. And now it will also be available in not only Spanish, but in Japanese, in Korean, in Italian.
00:04:25
Speaker
It will also be available in Polish and Indonesian. And I don't recall all of the languages. um Let's see. Yeah, those are all that I can remember off the top of my head. Hindi.
00:04:40
Speaker
And I can't remember, but there's a total of like 11 different languages. So if, oh, in French. And so if in German and Dutch, there we

Paul's Journey to Rome Begins

00:04:50
Speaker
go. I think I got them all.
00:04:51
Speaker
then if one of those is your native language, then do me a favor and give it a listen and see if that works for you. Cause I've tried to see it on my side, but because my videos are just in English and i can't seem to figure out how to get it translated. I know I've done subtitles before, but I don't know how to do it with English.
00:05:18
Speaker
looking up that autodubbing. They call it AI autodubbing. So it's supposed to put it in another language. So I'm super excited about that. It's only available to ah those who have been invited to it and it's been auto activated. So I didn't even have to do anything, but I saw yesterday when I was uploading the November 20th video that it was there.
00:05:40
Speaker
And I was so super excited. I did mark it in the the description, but it was too late for me, of course, to see it ahead of time and and be able to notify you that it was going to be there.
00:05:51
Speaker
So my next thing that I'm super excited about is that since the primary ah viewing happens on YouTube, and that's the one that has the most analytics, it has the most views, it has the most subscribers, it has the most... um they they do impressions, so they kind of like advertise it where some of you may have seen it that way, where it popped up in your feed.
00:06:16
Speaker
ah We are now up to 700 views today. I am so excited. I have been waiting for that 700, hoping it would come around. And I remember I was so excited a couple of months ago when it hit 400 views in a 28-day period. And then right away it hit 500 views. And I was like, oh, wow, that's nice. And I was expecting it to drop back down, but it didn't.
00:06:40
Speaker
It kept going up. So God has been continuously showing this event to more and more people. And that doesn't mean that there are 700 people sitting down watching the entire episode or listening to the entire episode. It just means that it's getting shown and it's been viewed 30 days, total 700 times, 28 days.
00:06:59
Speaker
seven hundred times twenty eight days and so i kept watching that number and it was hovering in the 560 and then it was hovering in the 600 and then it dropped back down to in the five hundreds a couple of days ago like a week ago and then it bopped back up to the 600s and and then this morning it was at 700 views so i just feel like that's a major accomplishment for god to get it viewed 700 times and That's just a lot. I'm just one little tiny person over here putting out a daily Bible reading event. And to me, that's just huge.
00:07:32
Speaker
but So thank you for sharing in my joy on that. And um we are going to begin our reading here so we can get going. And I just wanted to share that excitement with you and and hope that you would share in my joy for that, that we are spreading the word about reading God's word. Yay!
00:07:49
Speaker
yea ah So we are going to be reading in Acts chapter 27 today. And in chapter 27, we are going to see Paul start his journey to Rome.
00:08:03
Speaker
So this has been a long time coming. And we're going to be reading just chapter 27. I thought we were going to be finishing the book of Acts today, but no, we will be finishing it tomorrow with chapter 28. I thought that one of the days had two chapters in it and it didn't.
00:08:18
Speaker
And so I was off by my count. So we will be finishing it tomorrow, which is not that it matters, but it will be on Saturday. And that's the end of the week. So we will be finishing the book of Acts on the last day of this week and starting into the book of Colossians.
00:08:36
Speaker
which is a letter that Paul wrote from Rome. So God is using Paul's time wisely while he is there. He has plans. So today in chapter 27, as he gets going on his trip to Rome, we are going to be seeing some difficulties, but we are going to be building on the concepts that we learned about yesterday for our daily application.
00:09:01
Speaker
Yesterday, we spoke about how God was helping Paul every day, including that day. And we also spoke about the fact that Jesus would be with us when we go the right way, even though times are hard. And you know what? I couldn't believe. I totally forgot about the fact that it also ties in with Jesus told us, I will be with you even up to the very end of the age. I will always be with you.
00:09:31
Speaker
So that is an amazing promise that Jesus keeps. And so we're going to be seeing that again today as well, that God is helping him. And that Paul is not really alone. God is taking care of him in the same way that he takes care of us.
00:09:46
Speaker
So we're going to be building on that. So i wanted us to keep our eyes out for that as we read. So the time came for Paul to sail to Rome to see Caesar.
00:09:58
Speaker
So Paul and some others were taken out of jail and they were given to an army captain named Julius. Now some of Paul's friends went with him.
00:10:10
Speaker
So this book of Acts we have mentioned is written by Matthew. So if you look up in your big Bible, it actually uses the word we throughout this chapter. We did this. We were there. So the person writing it, it appears, Matthew, was part of the accompaniment that was allowed to go with Paul.
00:10:31
Speaker
And I just thought that was really interesting that as a prisoner, he he was being treated so well, which we talked about, that it could have been worse for Paul. He was not in a jail cell. Paul was being taken care of. And he even was allowed to have his friends travel with him.
00:10:48
Speaker
So who was paying for that Sounds like that was an all expense paid trip by the government.

Storm Challenges and Guidance

00:10:53
Speaker
So some of paul's went ah Paul's friends went with him and they got on a ship and they sailed out to sea.
00:11:01
Speaker
And the next day they landed at Sidon. Now Julius, who was the centurion who was guarding Paul, was kind. And he let Paul go in Sidon to see his friends.
00:11:14
Speaker
Wow, so he was allowed to go and just go visit while he was being held captive, essentially. Isn't that amazing? And soon it was time to sail again, so they sailed across the open sea and they landed at Myra.
00:11:32
Speaker
There, Julius found another ship and it was headed for Rome. So he took Paul and his friends on that ship. In our big Bible, once again, it uses the word we.
00:11:44
Speaker
Now the sailing went very slowly for many days because the wind would not push them the way that they wanted to go. So they sailed along the shore of Crete Island.
00:11:57
Speaker
It was still hard for them to sail that way and so they ended up landing at Fair Havens. And despite that name of Fair Havens, it's that's what we would call a misnomer. It was not an accurate name for that because it was not going to be safe for their ship to stay in Fair Haven over the winter.
00:12:17
Speaker
So by this time they had lost a lot of time and now winter was coming and it would not be safe to be out on the sea in winter. Here I'm actually going to insert verse nine because it helps us understand the timing It says that the next day they sat down in Sidon.
00:12:37
Speaker
Oops, that's wrong. It says, since considerable time had passed and the voyage was already dangerous because the fast had already gone by, Paul kept warning them.
00:12:49
Speaker
I wanted to read that part because in the book of Acts, they are referring to the fast that had gone by. So this would have been a reference to the day of atonement.
00:13:01
Speaker
So now we know where they are in time. They have now just celebrated the day of atonement, which if you have been around for just a little while, we had that back in, I think it was October.
00:13:13
Speaker
And i think that was just last month or at the end of them September, was either September or October. And so it is ah characterized with a day of fasting.
00:13:25
Speaker
Isn't that interesting? So they had just had their fast. And now they were taking they were getting back to sail. However, Paul was warning them. And Paul said to them that our trip will be full of danger.
00:13:39
Speaker
The ship will break down. The load we carry will be torn up. And our lives will even be in danger. He was trying to encourage them to not continue on with their journey.
00:13:54
Speaker
But Julius, who was the centurion, he did not listen to Paul and instead he agreed with the ship's captain. And he also was listening to the owner of the ship too.
00:14:06
Speaker
Now Fairhaven's was a bad place to keep ships in the wintertime, so they chose to sail on as soon as they could. And the ship's captain had hoped to get to Phoenix, not Arizona.
00:14:19
Speaker
ah That town faced the southwest and the northwest, and they could be able to stay there for the winter. Now, a soft wind began to blow from the south, and this was just what the captain wanted.
00:14:35
Speaker
So they set sail, and they sailed along the shore of Crete. It wasn't long now before a strong wind began to blow. This wind was called a northeast wind.
00:14:49
Speaker
We have those in the United States as well. It's a very a strong storm and they call it a nor'easter. So this was a northeast wind and this one blew like a hurricane from the island.
00:15:02
Speaker
So if you've ever heard of a nor'easter, you know how severe that is. The storm pushed the ship along and the ship could not head into the wind. So they let the ship go wherever the storm drove it.
00:15:18
Speaker
They tried to tie their lifeboat to the ship, but they couldn't get it tight. So they pulled it inside the boat. Then they tied ropes around the ship. They were trying to help keep it from falling apart.
00:15:34
Speaker
Then they let the anchor down because they were afraid that they would hit sandbars while in the water, which were high levels of sand. And those sandbars would shift because of the ocean tide moving.
00:15:49
Speaker
Now the storm tore into the ship. And the next day they made the ship lighter. They threw the load that they were carrying into the sea.
00:16:00
Speaker
And the day after that, they threw out the ropes that were on the ship. They threw out other things also that belonged to the ship. But the storm kept right on

Survival through Faith

00:16:11
Speaker
blowing. And for days, they couldn't see the sun or the stars.
00:16:16
Speaker
And at last, they just gave up. And they all thought that they were going to die. Now the men had not eaten for a long time. So finally Paul stood up and he spoke to them.
00:16:30
Speaker
He said, you should have listened to me and then you would have saved yourself from all of this trouble. But be brave. This ship will not make it, but the people will.
00:16:42
Speaker
Last night an angel came to me, said Paul. He was from God. now I belong to God and I serve God. So God's angel stood by me and he said to me, Do not be afraid.
00:17:00
Speaker
You have to let Caesar judge you. God is kind and he will let the people who sail with you live. So be brave, said Paul.
00:17:11
Speaker
I believe in God, and it will happen just the way he said. But we will have to crash on an island somewhere.
00:17:22
Speaker
After 14 the storm was still driving them along. And about midnight, the sailors thought that they might be near land. So they checked the water depth, and they found out that the water was 120
00:17:40
Speaker
Then they checked it again a little while later, and it was 90 feet deep. They were afraid, however, that the ship was going to crash on the rocks. So they let four anchors down into the water, and then they prayed for day to come.
00:17:57
Speaker
The sailors tried secretly to get off the ship. They said that they were going to let more anchors down, but instead they lowered the lifeboat into the water.
00:18:09
Speaker
Paul talked to Julius the centurion, however, and he told the soldiers and Julius that you cannot be saved unless the sailors stay with the ship.
00:18:21
Speaker
So the soldiers cut the ropes to the lifeboat and it fell into the sea without anyone being inside of it. Finally, it was almost morning and Paul tried to talk everyone into eating.
00:18:35
Speaker
You haven't eaten in 14 said Paul. You have been extremely worried. So eat something, please. You need food to stay alive. No one will lose even one hair from his head.
00:18:50
Speaker
Then Paul picked up some bread and he thanked God in front of everybody. And he started eating. The men felt better when they saw that Paul was eating.
00:19:02
Speaker
So then they ate some food too. There were 276 people on that ship and after they had finished eating, they once again made the ship lighter.
00:19:14
Speaker
And this time they threw the wheat that they were carrying into the sea. Morning finally came and they couldn't tell what land they were near, but they did see a bay with a sandy beach.
00:19:28
Speaker
They wanted to let the ship wash up on the beach, so they left the anchors in the sea. Then they pulled put the sail up in the front of the ship and they headed for the beach.
00:19:40
Speaker
But the ship hit a sandbar in the water and it got stuck there. And then the pounding waves began to break the ship apart. At this point, the soldiers planned to kill the men that they were guarding because they didn't want any of them to swim away and escape.
00:19:59
Speaker
But Julius, he wanted to save Paul's life, so he did not let the soldiers kill anyone. Julius asked who could swim out of all the people who were on board, and he told those people to jump into the sea first, and then he told everyone else to hold onto some boards from the ship, and that way they could get to land too.
00:20:23
Speaker
And in this manner, everybody got to the beach safely.
00:20:33
Speaker
That is the end of our reading today. Was that exciting or what?
00:20:40
Speaker
Did you see how God was taking care of Paul and not just Paul, but everybody who was with him? Our God is so gracious. He is so kind and he is so loving to provide for everybody in such a fashion.
00:20:54
Speaker
He was with Paul the whole time. And he even sent an angel to reassure Paul and to also reassure everybody with them that they would not die.
00:21:07
Speaker
But he told them exactly what would happen, that they would lose the ship, they would lose the cargo, but they themselves would not die. And everybody on board would also be saved along with Paul.
00:21:22
Speaker
In the same way, we can see ourselves in difficult situations. Paul had tried to warn the people. You remember yesterday, King Hephaestus, rather, he had yelled out to Paul and said, you are crazy.
00:21:36
Speaker
So how many times have we talked about that? We said that people have told us, man, you are crazy for believing that. That's just not possible. Well, nothing is impossible with our God, is it?
00:21:49
Speaker
Nothing. And so what we see here is that Paul was once again going to be a leader and an object lesson for us. The people were scared.
00:22:01
Speaker
they were They were dealing with very bad weather for a very long time. They were discouraged. They were hungry. They were scared. They thought they were going to die. They wanted to try to escape. They were panicking.
00:22:15
Speaker
And Paul was given a special visit to give them all reassurance. So Paul led and if he said that they needed to eat. And so he first ate and after he gave thanks. And the result that this had was that it made people feel better.
00:22:36
Speaker
God uses us to help those around us, to help those who are within our company. And when Paul wi started eating and they felt better, we can see the example that we can be. we Paul didn't maybe know that he was going to help them feel better, but he led by example.
00:22:57
Speaker
He led by showing them. And if he was doing it, then they were going to follow along. So it can be hard in those difficult times, but the Holy Spirit talks to us at times. And he may not send an angel to give us a personal message, but he will convict our hearts and he will tell us it's gonna be all right.
00:23:17
Speaker
In which case we need to be sure that we then have the faith to believe what God is telling us. Just like Paul said, Paul said, I belong to God.
00:23:28
Speaker
Remember, you belong to God. Paul says, I serve God. Remember, you are serving God. And Jesus told us not to worry about things, that to seek first the kingdom of heaven.
00:23:42
Speaker
And God will take care of everything else. He will provide for us what we need. We have to first have faith. God wasn't going to take care of them first so that then they would have faith.
00:23:55
Speaker
Paul said that I belong to God. I serve God. God's angel stood by me And I believe it will happen just the way he said.
00:24:06
Speaker
But we have to crash on an island somewhere. And then he was free he was reassuring them. So in the same way that other people may not have received the comfort that we have received from the Holy Spirit or the assurance that we have received, we need to be sure that we are not silent, but that we share this with people and tell them it's okay.
00:24:29
Speaker
God has told me this will be all right. i belong to God and I believe it will happen just the way he has told me. I have an example for this out of my own life for application.
00:24:42
Speaker
I have mentioned before, and if you are new, then you may not have heard this story. And it's different from my necklace story. This happened before my necklace. A little over five years ago, my husband had a stroke.
00:24:56
Speaker
And God told me right away, he said, I'm going to heal him.

Personal Testimonies of Faith

00:25:02
Speaker
Now his symptoms from his stroke, it did not affect him physically in the sense like he did not have any paralysis. It didn't affect his walking or or his speaking. It affected his mind.
00:25:15
Speaker
So it if it affected his speaking in the sense that He didn't know what to say for things and he didn't know what he didn't know. So he ended up losing the ability to read because there was a disconnect between his eyes and his brain. So his eyes would see the letters, but his brain didn't know what he was seeing.
00:25:36
Speaker
And he couldn't even tell me, I don't know what this says. i can't read. I don't know what's going on. He did not know what he did not know. And it was really interesting the way his stroke came about. It didn't just happen.
00:25:54
Speaker
It came on like you're coming down sick. He came down with a stroke. He started to lose the ability to think. And I was with him and he said, he was working on his computer and he said, I know I'm supposed to do something. He was trying to check his email, but I don't know what it is.
00:26:14
Speaker
I know I'm supposed to do something, but I don't know what it is. I'm trying to think, but nothing is happening, he said. So this was very telling.
00:26:27
Speaker
He was trying to think, but he couldn't think. And he didn't realize that he didn't know what to do on the computer because he couldn't read what was on the computer.
00:26:40
Speaker
And he didn't even know that he didn't know. And then when we got home at one point, after he had come down with his stroke, he could not find our kitchen.
00:26:52
Speaker
And we have a pass through, so you can keep walking. And i was on the phone with him trying to help him get to the kitchen. I was giving him tech support, basically trying to walk him through the house because he was trying to get to the kitchen so he could take his different vitamins and stuff that i was trying to get him to take. And I didn't know at this point that he couldn't read.
00:27:12
Speaker
And so he he says to me, he says, I can't find the kitchen. And I said, honey, if you just keep going, I promise you'll find it. It's not a big house. It's all 900 1,000 square feet, including the laundry room. And that doesn't connect.
00:27:29
Speaker
So he was walking around and he said, OK, I'm in the kitchen. And I said, OK, your pills are next to the coffee maker. And he said, well, what does that look like? And at that point, I just, I said, it's okay.
00:27:41
Speaker
Don't worry. Just find your way back to the couch and sit down. And when I get home, I'll help you. So after he we got the official diagnosis that he had had a stroke, um now I knew what was going on with the brain to some degree. And then we went to go see the neurologist and they gave him tests.
00:27:58
Speaker
And at this point, God was still telling me that he was going to heal my husband. However, by all testings, by the neurologist and then later by a neuropsychologist, they all insisted that my husband's damage was permanent and he wasn't going to get any better.

And he was never going to be able to go back to work. And ah and i and i they didn't just tell me this outright at first. I finally said to the neurologist, I said to her, I just wanted to ask.
00:28:33
Speaker
And I said, do you think his damage, his brain damage is permanent? And she said, oh, yes. She was she was like, oh, yeah, this is never going to get better. This is permanent. He's not going to be able to work again. This is called severe dementia.
00:28:51
Speaker
He has severe dementia from the stroke. Now he was happy and stuff, and he could talk to me. He was just blissfully unaware of a lot of things. We would go through the grocery store and he would pick up random stuff at a grocery store and he would say, what's this?
00:29:10
Speaker
And I would say, that's a box of cereal. And he'd say, oh, okay. And then he would pick something else up. What's this? He didn't know what anything was. So what I needed to do with him as his brain was healing was I had to reteach him what everything was.
00:29:27
Speaker
And nobody was ever impressed. No doctors were ever impressed. Now for a moment after I asked the doctors, do you think this is permanent? And she said, oh yes.
00:29:38
Speaker
For a moment, I was scared. I was very scared. And then right away, i said to myself, well, dummy, you're the one who asked. If you want that answer, then believe it. But God already told you that he was going to heal your husband. So I snapped out of it because I remembered.
00:29:58
Speaker
I had faith. and And I told my husband, I said, they say you're not going to get better. And he said, well, they can't tell me what I can do. and I said, good.
00:30:10
Speaker
I said, because God has told me he's going to heal you. And God did heal him. And every time we went back into that doctor and they would do their testings and I would tell them I was so excited about how my husband was healing and how he could do things. Nobody was impressed.
00:30:28
Speaker
Nobody. and And finally, when he could do some more things, when we found that God had given him a bridge to learn how to read again. And I just was so excited, I told the doctor, I said, he can he knows the letters when I write them on his back.
00:30:46
Speaker
I was really sad one day, I was discouraged because he was having difficulty retaining um the the recollection of the alphabet. He had to relearn the alphabet. He knew it by by verbalizing it, he could say a B, C, D, but he couldn't identify the letters. So he was relearning the letters by sight.
00:31:07
Speaker
And so one day I was sad and I started to write on his back and I wrote, and he said, I was like, huh. And then I wrote. And I spelled out L O V e And he said, lo And then I wrote out a letter U. And he said, you, I love you He said, why do I know that?
00:31:45
Speaker
i said, I don't know. I don't know, but you do. So the information was in his brain, but he couldn't see it. Now, once it was interesting then, so then God showed me, because it was all God, that once he could recognize the letters. He couldn't read them, the words.
00:32:06
Speaker
Then he needed to spell it, so he couldn't read cat. But I told him, spell it. And he spelled C-A-T, and then he would say cat. So his brain knew that C-A-T was cat. His brain knew that I-L-O-V-E, you, was I love you.
00:32:24
Speaker
but he couldn't see it until his brain told him what he was seeing. His eye couldn't tell his brain, but his brain could tell his eye. And nobody knew that.
00:32:36
Speaker
God had given him a bridge. And when I told that to the neurologist, she just said, oh, that's called a bridge. Isn't the brain amazing? And I was like,
00:32:47
Speaker
I was so irritated because it was God who was healing my husband. And he can read. he's He's not a proficient, fabulous reader like maybe you or I are, but he can read. And God healed him. And guess what?
00:33:02
Speaker
He went back to work. And he had some reading therapy for a speech therapist. And she told me, she said, he's never going to be able to go back to work. I don't know why you're pushing for that.
00:33:14
Speaker
And I said, because he can. You just have to find something he can do. And he ended up going into security, which he can do. And he's he's good at it. It doesn't require a great deal of reading.
00:33:25
Speaker
He just needed a job that didn't require a great deal of reading. In his particular positions, God has placed him in positions that don't require a great deal of reading. And she says to me, well, if he ever goes back to work, you call me and tell me.
00:33:40
Speaker
And you know what I did? he went back to work. I was on the phone. Hey, you remember? Remember me? You said if he ever went back to work, you give me a call. Well, I'm calling you. He is back to work.
00:33:52
Speaker
And you know what ended up happening is he was working as a security guard down at the ship terminal down in San Diego Harbor. And she was going on a Disney cruise at some point with her family. And she saw him down there working.
00:34:05
Speaker
And went up and said hello. And she told me, she says, I have a cruise planned. Maybe I will see him down there. I said, oh yeah, you'll see him down there. yeah and Because God healed my husband.
00:34:17
Speaker
I had faith. I knew it was going to happen because the Holy Spirit told me so. And that's what we're seeing in today's reading as well. Against all odds, everybody thought that they were going to die.
00:34:30
Speaker
But Paul told them, if you're not going to die. Not even a single hair on your head will be hurt. You won't lose it. So we need to be sure that when God gives us that faith, that we communicate that, that we share that with other people. And if there are other people involved, and in this case, it was my husband who was involved, that we encourage him. And I would tell him always, God says he's going to heal you.
00:34:58
Speaker
God says he's going to heal you.
00:35:02
Speaker
God did. And God said that he would save Paul and every single person on that ship. And he did. Our God is so faithful. He is so good. Jesus is with us always, even to the end of time.
00:35:17
Speaker
He tells us, Jesus

Modern Applications of Faith

will with me every single day. And even though things looked bad, God used that frustration to motivate my heart to write, I love you on his back.
00:35:29
Speaker
And that is what showed us that he had a bridge. Amazing. Not me, God. I didn't heal him. God healed him.
00:35:41
Speaker
I just worked with what God gave me. So I want you to be encouraged. To always that if God tells you that you are going to have something happen, that you believe it, that you have faith for it, and that you encourage those around you to also have faith who may be affected by whatever it is that's going on.
00:36:03
Speaker
And that you show them by example, the way Paul did, where he took the bread and he ate and they were encouraged. And so they also took bread and ate and they were strengthened.
00:36:18
Speaker
And that's our daily application today. And we see that they arrived safely. You know, even that even Julius, the centurion, was used to protect Paul's life because the guards wanted to kill everybody there so that they wouldn't escape. It was better that they be killed than to escape.
00:36:36
Speaker
And Julius said no. He wanted to protect Paul's life. So God protected Paul's life and even used that kind centurion guard. And so none of the prisoners were killed. So everybody was alive.
00:36:49
Speaker
God saved everybody, just like he said he would. And he even used Julius to do it. Isn't that awesome? God can use whomever he wants.
00:37:02
Speaker
He is not limited in any way, shape, or form. So I hope that you are encouraged to not only to listen to the Holy Spirit when he tells you something, but to have faith to know that when God tells us something, he always does what he says he's going to do. He will help us.
00:37:19
Speaker
God was with me every step of the way. Jesus never left me. God helped me the whole time, just like we see Paul gave witness to yesterday. God never stops helping us.
00:37:32
Speaker
And Jesus never leaves us alone. We are never alone. And God always keeps his promises. So I hope that you feel encouraged and that God has lit your light today. If you feel that God has lit your light, may I please encourage you to click your light button.
00:37:50

to share this event, to share this today's daily reading so that others can also hear God's word and to be encouraged by it as well and to be motivated to pick up their big Bible and read God's word as well. Because together here, we are hoping to spread the word about reading God's word. When we read God's word, it's encouraging to us. We can see by example how God is faithful and caring and loving and provides for us. And we can... um See how if he did it for them, he will also do it for us. That's encouragement.
00:38:27
Speaker
I want everybody to be encouraged that you too will have God take care of you everywhere. I want people to be aware of that. And so we come to that encouragement by reading God's word and taking the examples and seeing how faithful God is.
00:38:44
Speaker
So please click your light button, that one that looks like a thumbs up. It looks like a heart. It looks like a follow, a share, a subscribe. I really like that share button, by the way. If you guys can share it with somebody who might need to be encouraged, encouraged that would be awesome too.
00:39:00
Speaker
I'm hoping to be very encouraging for all of you this year. And that's why I share my personal applications where God has used these lessons in my very life. Not so that I can brag about what's going on in my life, but so that I can boast about our God.
00:39:14
Speaker
And to show the faithfulness that he has not only in Paul's time, 2,000 years ago, but that here we are in 2025 and beyond. And God is still just as faithful to- today as he was then and as he always has and as he always will be.
00:39:33
Speaker
So thank you for joining me, whether you are following along on your podcast or whether you're following along on the video somewhere. I'm just so glad that you were hungry for today's word. And I hope that you will be hungry again enough to join me again tomorrow so that you can hear the conclusion of the book of Acts.
00:39:50
Speaker
And until you see me again later, since I don't see you, I pray that you will have a very encouraging, blessed day. I will see you next time.
