Today we will read the very short letter Paul wrote to Philemon and begin Paul's letter to the Ephesians with Chapter 1:1 and 4-23.

In our reading today Paul revealed a mystery of God: that everything in heaven and Earth will come together and be ruled by Jesus. Even now, Jesus is in charge over all of His followers. As followers we have been marked by God with His Holy Spirit.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God's big picture is coming together even more for us this year in regard to unity with one another both here on Earth and in Heaven! Jesus is king of kings and lord of lords now and forever. Since Jesus is in charge of all of us as His followers both now and once we get to heaven, need to understand that this is part of what Jesus taught us about with the Lord's Prayer: Our Father who is in Heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We are to do God's will here on earth as well as when we get to heaven. What we experience on earth is a foreshadowing of what will happen in full when we experience eternal life with God and Jesus. God's will is to give us His Spirit as a promise to save us and bring us into eternal life with Him. In heaven we will all be reconciled to one another, even if we were not reconciled to one another on Earth. But we are to do our best to be reconciled with one another here on earth because that is God's will. We are to love one another here, not just in Heaven when we get there. We are to be unified here, not just in Heaven. Jesus taught us that a house divided against itself cannot stand. We have God's Spirit within us. We are the house of God. We need to be unified with one another now and in Heaven!

Introduction and Thanksgiving Greetings

00:00:03
Speaker
Well, happy Thanksgiving week. I hope everybody is having a fantastic week getting ready for the preparations of the holiday. and if you're not quite ready, then i hope that you get there soon.

Daily Bible Reading Overview

00:00:15
Speaker
Today is November 25th. My name is Robin. I am within the Family Way Coaching, and it is my pleasure this year to bring to you our daily Bible reading event out of the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:30
Speaker
We are going to be continuing reading today and we are going to be picking up with more of Paul's letters. We're almost done with Paul's letters. He has a couple left to write while he is in prison in Rome. And we are going to be reading the letter that he wrote to Philemon regarding a slave that had run away that belonged to him named Onesimus.
00:00:52
Speaker
And then we are also going to be beginning the book of Ephesians. So we will talk more about that in just a couple of minutes. Before we get that done, let's take out our calendar so we can cross off our days.
00:01:06
Speaker
If you are using the calendar, go ahead and get that sticker ready. Get your book mario pencil, your crayon, whatever you're using. Because you know what's going to happen in a minute?
00:01:17
Speaker
Yep, we're about to read the Bible today.

Accessibility and Platform Information

00:01:22
Speaker
Now I haven't mentioned it in a little while, so if you are a newer listener, follower, viewer, welcome. And i wanted to make sure that everyone knows the ah places where this event is available for your listening or viewing pleasure.
00:01:35
Speaker
This is available, as many of you are aware, on YouTube video. It's also on YouTube audio. Now the cool thing about YouTube video, and I'm not sure yet about the YouTube audio, I need somebody to check that out for me and let me know, is that YouTube has enabled my channel with autodubbing.
00:01:54
Speaker
So it is available now in multiple languages. So if you are listening and your primary language is Spanish, or another language such as French or German or Dutch, I can't imagine this is reaching that far, but... ah But if that's your language and you would like to hear it in that language, do give it a listen. You just have to adjust the settings. It's also available in German and in Japanese and in Hindi.
00:02:22
Speaker
And there are a total of like 11 languages right now where this channel has been enabled with...
00:02:29
Speaker
auto-AI dubbing for other languages. So I am so excited because I feel like God has gifted this ah event with the gift of tongues. but but Let me know if you are listening in your native tongue because I am curious if it's translating well.
00:02:48
Speaker
So if you could leave me a note on my site or on the audio version, since we don't have comments enabled on the video version on YouTube because it is marked as ah made for kids and that's so it's a family friendly event. And in case you're new and you're unaware, YouTube does not permit commenting on any video marked as made for kids.
00:03:10
Speaker
And it has absolutely zero to do with whether the content is considered appropriate or inappropriate for children. It actually has to do with how YouTube is not permitted to gather data on people who are considered children.
00:03:25
Speaker
So it's called the online children's Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA. So they do not permit commenting because apparently that involves trackers.
00:03:37
Speaker
So you can only comment on the audio portion. Now on my site, I do have this event posted on inthefamilywaycoaching.com. And on the top left-hand side of the screen, you will see a drop-down menu for Read the Bible in One Year. From there, you can select audio or video, and you can view directly from the site without being taken to the YouTube site itself.
00:04:04
Speaker
You can ah check it out there, and it might be easier to access there for some reason at some point. So it's available there as well, and it's also on Spotify.
00:04:16
Speaker
it is on Apple Music. It is on Amazon Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, And like other ah podcasting ah platforms such as Podbean, Podfriend, and there are a couple other that I cannot remember that are associated with Apple, like come not Comcast, but Podcast or something to that effect.
00:04:42
Speaker
And it is available wherever you can think of that you would need to watch. it's and It's listed in the directories. So if you have a friend that you're wanting to tell about this and they like to list it on Spotify, they can find this on Spotify.
00:04:56
Speaker
And they can find it wherever else. So I hope that that is convenient for you and accessible to you. So thank you for following along. If you are a newer a subscriber or follower or watcher, I did already say welcome. But thank you so much for helping us spread the word about reading God's word. God's event is just really growing.

Paul's Letters and Spiritual Themes

00:05:18
Speaker
i am just astonished.
00:05:22
Speaker
i'm just one little lady in in san diego and here i am reading the bible and we are up to i think it's 65 followers on youtube alone plus what's available on apple i think there are eight followers there um presently there doesn't seem to be anybody actively listening most of the time on spotify although there are some followers there i think there are five there and um ah Let me see. it says that there are like two followers on Podbean. So it doesn't sound that impressive. But to me, i am just so excited that God is using me to help spread the word about reading his word and that you are here and that you are finding his word applicable.
00:06:03
Speaker
So today, as we get into the books of Philemon and Ephesians, we're going to be, it's a little bit of a transition there. They're not the same. ah they They are similar, but they do have an overarching theme.
00:06:17
Speaker
Thank you.
00:06:22
Speaker
what we are learning in this daybyday kid bible is that it does not have every single detail but what it's doing is it's giving us god's big picture all the way from genesis to revelation And this is amazing because so often it it can be really easy to get lost in the details.
00:06:43
Speaker
I love the details. Details are awesome. There's so much richness in the details, but sometimes we can lose sight of the big picture. And that's what this event this year is helping to keep us focused on, is God's big picture.
00:07:02
Speaker
Not just the fine details, but how all of the big story works together. And so to- today we are going to be reading about one of Paul's major themes, because it's part of God's great big picture, and that is unity.
00:07:18
Speaker
If you've been listening for a little while here, you know that God has really placed it upon my heart passionately to encourage and to bring unity, reconciliation to God's believers, to the spirit.
00:07:35
Speaker
so we have reconciliation not just with god but reconciliation between what we would call in the old covenant or or what i should say in the bible as the jews and the greeks or the jews and the gentiles so we as gentiles have been grafted into the jewish olive tree so we are one and we have talked about this But there is more, just like in our body.
00:08:06
Speaker
There are so many parts, and yes, yes, we've spoken about that. You all know about that. But if we look deeper and we go into what we would call the microscopic view, we have cells, we have genes, and we have chromosomes.
00:08:23
Speaker
So we didn't used to know about those things 2,000 years ago. And so Paul is is has been given a great gift in understanding what he refers to as God's mysteries.
00:08:40
Speaker
And so he reveals God's mysteries to us in each of the different letters. He talks about God's mysteries and how God has revealed these mysteries to us.
00:08:51
Speaker
And today he's going to be talking about how Jesus is head of everything. So how does that tie into the body well Jesus is head of the body Jesus is head of the church but not only that Jesus is head of everything he is more than King of Kings and Lord of Lords he is going to be the ruler in heaven as well everything has been placed with for him And even in the beginning, he was with God and everything that was created was created with him and through him.
00:09:27
Speaker
So Jesus is not just a little picture of the plan. Jesus is part of the great big plan. So going back to our body and genes and tiny little microscopic things.
00:09:39
Speaker
We are like genes in the body. There are so many of them that we are finding within our DNA.
00:09:50
Speaker
And that DNA looks like what we call a helix. So it's hard for me to um give visualization for that. If you're watching the video, you can see me, but if you're listening on audio somewhere, you won't see. The helix, is I think it's actually a double helix, and it looks like it goes around and it's they're intertwined.
00:10:10
Speaker
And so if you, like Pearl or Diamond or Jedi or Forest, if you do an internet search for what a double helix looks like, you will see what that looks like.
00:10:21
Speaker
It's all intertwined. It's all together. And nowadays, we have learned about things called gene expression. And what happens is when we turn genes on or off,
00:10:36
Speaker
we call that expressing. If we cause a gene to express, then it causes different effects in the brain and in the body. And if there is something wrong in the body where a particular gene is turned off, there are deficits.
00:10:56
Speaker
There are things that are not working the way that they should. And unfortunately, as we get older, some genes get tired and they stop expressing as well. And doesn't that sound very similar to what happens with us as people?
00:11:11
Speaker
We are so many people throughout the thousands of years that just since Jesus has come, there have been, what do I say, billions of people born?
00:11:24
Speaker
who are followers, and they were all important in their time. They all had work to do. They all had jobs to do. And not only that, but they were connected. And even now, we are still part of them in the spiritual body.
00:11:41
Speaker
Our spiritual body is growing, and we are all connected through God's Spirit. And so when one of us, you or me, is not expressing,
00:11:55
Speaker
We are causing deficits in the area in which we are targeted. So it's very important that we express, that we do our part in the body. And we also spoke this year about how the enemy will cause us to think, you're not important.
00:12:16
Speaker
What you're doing doesn't matter. You don't matter. And that is a huge lie because the enemy knows exactly how important it is for every single gene to be expressed and to do its work and to not get tired and stop working.
00:12:36
Speaker
And so Paul is going to be speaking to the both in the letter of Philemon and Ephesians today about unity. And unlike other letters where Paul is writing about something that the church in that area is struggling with, in the book of Ephesians, he is not writing about any particular struggles.
00:12:57
Speaker
But he is encouraging them and he is teaching them. He is just reaffirming things and making sure that they are keeping with what their true faith is.
00:13:09
Speaker
So I know that's a very long preamble to our reading today, but ah lately I have liked for us to have understanding of what our big picture looks like so that as we read the details, we can put that together because we don't want to miss the forest because we can't see it due to all the trees.
00:13:31
Speaker
We want to be sure that we know that there is a bigger picture and how it all fits together.
00:13:40
Speaker
So we are going to be beginning with the book of Philemon. Now, I don't remember if I mentioned a moment ago, Philemon is a man who is a believer and he had a slave named Onesimus and Onesimus ran away and Paul met him.
00:13:58
Speaker
And as Paul met him, he became a believer. So now he has been helping Paul and Paul is encouraging Onesimus to return to Philemon, who was his master.
00:14:13
Speaker
And so that can be a in today's day and age, that could be considered a very controversial concept. And ah it was much more widely accepted.
00:14:28
Speaker
And in slavery was actually a little bit different where slaves could actually earn or buy their freedom. And there was it was just it was a different thing It doesn't make it better, ah but it's not something that Paul spoke about and said that we needed to abolish. And so ah that's not really the point of it. The point was that Onesimus belonged to Philemon and he had been helping Paul. So Paul was sending him back and he is encouraging Philemon to accept Onesimus back and to either allow him to be free and release him officially from
00:15:08
Speaker
or to accept him with open arms because Philemon is also a believer. And so Paul is encouraging him, not simply as someone who owns a slave, but for someone who is a brother and now has an additional brother that will be returning to his household.
00:15:29
Speaker
I wanted to give us a little bit of big picture viewing on that as well. So here we go with Philemon. Paul also wrote a letter from Rome to a man named Philemon.
00:15:42
Speaker
Philemon's servant, Onesimus, had run away, and Paul met Onesimus while he was in Rome. To Philemon, I remember you when I pray, and I thank God for you.
00:15:56
Speaker
I heard about how you believe in Jesus, and I heard about how you love God's people, and I am praying that you will tell a lot of other people what you believe.
00:16:08
Speaker
I feel much better because of your love, because you have made God's people feel like new. And that makes me happy. and want to ask you something out of love.
00:16:21
Speaker
I could be bold and I could order you to do what you should do. But i Paul, am just asking you as an old man. I am now in jail for Jesus.
00:16:35
Speaker
And I am asking you for Onesimus. He is like a son to me, and I grew to love him here in jail. Once he was no good to you, but he is doing lots of good for me now, and he can do lots of good for you too.
00:16:54
Speaker
And I am sending him back to you, but he is like my own heart, and I wish that I could keep him here with me, and then he could help me here in jail.
00:17:06
Speaker
But I will not do that. I could not, unless you said it was all right. And that way it would be what you wanted. And it would be something i may it would not be something that I made you do.
00:17:21
Speaker
So maybe there is a reason he was away from you for a while. And maybe it was so you could have him back for good. But now he won't be a servant. And he will be better than a servant. He will be like your brother.
00:17:37
Speaker
Onesimus is very special to me, and he will be even more special to you. Now he is like a brother in God's family, your brother.
00:17:49
Speaker
Do you think of me as a worker with you? Then welcome Onesimus, like you would welcome me. Did he do anything wrong to you?
00:18:01
Speaker
Does he owe you anything? Then let me pay it back. I, Paul, write this myself. i will pay you back.
00:18:12
Speaker
But then you do owe me your whole self, so I want to get something good from you. Make my heart feel new. i am sure that you will obey, and that is why I am writing.
00:18:28
Speaker
I know that you will do more than I am asking. And I want to ask one more thing. Get a room ready for me, because I hope that I can come back to you, and I know that will be an answer to your prayers.
00:18:46
Speaker
Epaphras is in jail with me, and he says to tell you hi. Mark, Luke, and the others who work here with me say hello too. And I pray that Jesus' kind love will be with you.
00:19:00
Speaker
From Paul and from Timothy.
00:19:07
Speaker
I like how Paul says that although he it could just tell him to do what he is asking, he says that he won't because he says that it would he doesn't want it to be something that Paul made him do.
00:19:22
Speaker
Although it is a very strongly convincing letter that he is asking him to do the right thing. And he is asking Philemon to release Onesimus to him so that he can remain a help to Paul.
00:19:37
Speaker
That's important because although we can strongly suggest for someone to do something, it's not okay for us to try to force people to do things. Even God himself, as we have spoken about recently, gives us free will.
00:19:53
Speaker
And so it was on Paul's conscience, apparently, that he needed to know that Onesimus would be released freely from Philemon's bondage.
00:20:04
Speaker
And that can be very similar to the relationship that we have with Jesus and with God. We are like God's servants. We serve him.
00:20:15
Speaker
But God does not force us to do anything. He gives us choice. And we can live our whole lives and never choose to follow him. But he would like for us to choose to follow him.
00:20:27
Speaker
And so this is very good example where it is definitely to our benefit. And and God hopes that we will do more but and that we will do the right thing. But we do have free will.
00:20:40
Speaker
That is very important. So let's go ahead and begin the book of Ephesians. And today we're going to cover chapter 1 in Ephesians. And did you notice in Philemon that Paul was talking about the unity that there was between Philemon and Onesimus? Is it now they were more than just master and servant?
00:21:03
Speaker
Now they are brothers. And Jesus tells us too, I no longer call you my servants, but I call you my friends because I have made known to you everything. So we can we choose to serve Jesus.
00:21:17
Speaker
We are what we call a living sacrifice. And we like to joke and say the problem with the living sacrifice is that it walks off of the altar. And we have a tendency to do that. But we are also Jesus's friends and we are choosing to serve him.
00:21:33
Speaker
That's a difference. We are not forced to serve him. We are his friends. Jesus calls us his friends and we are one with him, but we choose to serve.
00:21:45
Speaker
And that is the unity that we have, that love that we have, that we choose to serve out of love. And why do we love? Because he first loved us.
00:21:57
Speaker
That's right. So let's look for that same unity as we begin the book of Ephesians. From Rome, Paul also wrote a letter to Jesus' followers in Ephesus.
00:22:10
Speaker
To God's people in Ephesus. God loved us, and that is why he chose us. He planned to make us his children through Jesus.
00:22:22
Speaker
And he wants to. And he is happy to. So we praise him for his powerful and kind love. Amen. Let us praise God for his powerful, kind love today, shall we?
00:22:36
Speaker
As we read. God's kind love for us is free because of Jesus. Jesus forgives us for the bad things that we do, and God's love flows over us.
00:22:50
Speaker
And his love brings us all of his wise thinking and understanding. God even lets us know the mystery of his plan, that God will make it happen at the end of time.
00:23:06
Speaker
Here is God's mystery. Everything and in heaven and on earth will come together, and Jesus will be in charge.
00:23:18
Speaker
God works everything out by this plan. And he chose us so that we could praise him. And he chose us so we can show how great God is.
00:23:32
Speaker
You heard the truth, and it's the good news of how to be saved. You believed in Jesus, and then God put his holy mark on you.
00:23:43
Speaker
His mark is the Holy Spirit, who is the one he promised to you. God gives you his Holy Spirit.
00:23:55
Speaker
The Holy Spirit is a promise inside of you. The Holy Spirit lets you know that God will save his people. And the Holy Spirit shows how great God is.
00:24:10
Speaker
I have heard that you believe in Jesus. And I have heard about how you love God's people. So I keep thanking God for you. I remember you when I pray, and I ask God to give you his wise spirit, and I ask him to show you his plans, and then you can know God better.
00:24:35
Speaker
i am also praying that God will open your heart, and then you will know the riches that he will give his people someday. You will know his super great power.
00:24:47
Speaker
His power is for people who believe. And it's the same power that he used to bring Jesus back to life. God lets Jesus sit beside him in heaven.
00:25:02
Speaker
Jesus is more important than all rulers or kings. He is more important than any other power. And he is more important than any other leader now or ever.
00:25:18
Speaker
God put him in charge of everything. Not just today, but forever. And Jesus is in charge of his followers.
00:25:30
Speaker
They are called the church. That's you. Jesus is like the head and his followers are like the body.
00:25:41
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:25:48
Speaker
Did you hear the unity that Paul was talking about in the reading today? It can be difficult sometimes to pull everything out right and write as you're reading it. So I'm glad that we had that talk ahead of time so that you can understand. God's big picture is about unity.
00:26:05
Speaker
Jesus is the head of everything, not just now, but in the age to come, our big Bible says. And it says that Jesus is in charge of the followers.
00:26:19
Speaker
And let's see, everything in heaven and earth will come together.
00:26:27
Speaker
God works everything out by this plan and Jesus will be in charge. So do you remember when Jesus taught us the Lord's prayer? Our father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come and your will be done on earth.
00:26:48
Speaker
as it is in heaven. This is a foreshadowing of the way things will be. Because we will be all one in heaven,
00:27:00
Speaker
We need to have it be here on earth as it is in heaven. And that's a big reason for why the unity is such a big deal for us here on earth.
00:27:13
Speaker
Because on earth, it is the foreshadowing of what is going to it what it's going to be like in heaven. So we need to remember that we are not only going to be unified in heaven...
00:27:25
Speaker
but that we are unified here as it is on in heaven. May it be on earth. That is our big picture for today.
00:27:37
Speaker
We are one under Jesus, not just in heaven when we get there, but here on earth. And because we are under Jesus, we are all together because Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit,
00:27:52
Speaker
So we have God's Holy Spirit in us

Applying Biblical Teachings to Life

00:27:55
Speaker
now. And that is our promise of what is to come later with eternal life. That same great power that God used to bring Jesus back to life. Someday we will all be with Jesus in heaven.
00:28:10
Speaker
And that Holy Spirit is what binds us all together. We are stuck like glue. We are all stuck together. We are all genes in the body. And it might not seem like we are all that connected, but we really, really are.
00:28:29
Speaker
God gives us so many examples of of things that are similar. So we have like the body where we can look into a microscope and we can see all of these things building out and they look kind of like ponds, ah ripples in a pond that if you touch the the water, it goes out in what we call concentric rings.
00:28:51
Speaker
In that same way, we are built like a concentric rings. they We are connected more than we ever thought possible because we are connected through the Holy Spirit. And it's to be not just like that once we get to heaven, but we are representatives of that unity here.
00:29:14
Speaker
So what does that mean, how we are connected? What does that mean that we are to do? That is why the love that Jesus told us to have is so, so important.
00:29:25
Speaker
That's why we are supposed to be patient and kind and thoughtful and caring and slow to anger. You know, I know we talked about love yesterday and the day before.
00:29:38
Speaker
And let me tell you, God is always, always using these daily readings for my daily application. He is always working out my the readings for me. He makes the Bible come alive.
00:29:53
Speaker
And it's kind of like when we joke around and say, don't ever pray for patience. You know what that means. It means if you pray for more patience, that God is going to give you opportunities for which you have to exercise and learn how to be patient.
00:30:09
Speaker
Because we don't just get patience. We have to learn it. We have to practice it. And that means that everybody and everything is going to be really irritating all the time.
00:30:21
Speaker
because otherwise we're not going to learn patience. And i don't remember when, but I know that I have asked God to make me more like him because that's what we are supposed to be like, is more like him.

And so that means that I have to become more patient, more kind, more loving, more slow to anger. As Paul said yesterday, put away all anger, very deep anger.
00:30:48
Speaker
put away talking badly about one another. Because these things cause disunity. They cause us to not be unified.
00:30:59
Speaker
They cause dissension. And Jesus taught us that a house divided against itself cannot stand. We are God's temple.
00:31:10
Speaker
So that's a house. We house the Holy Spirit. We cannot be divided. We must be united. And we are united through love.
00:31:22
Speaker
So any act that we do needs to be carried out in love, whether it's correcting one another. Whatever it is we do, we are to do it with love and as though we are doing it for God.
00:31:35
Speaker
because we are one. So going back to God working out the daily applications and patience, my goodness, yesterday, i was so irritable. I was so frustrated because my husband ah was trying to log into the online banking and for some reason, his saved password didn't pop up for him on his phone.
00:31:58
Speaker
I've mentioned previously, but if you're newer, you may not know that he had a stroke five years ago. and it affected him mentally, not physically. So some things he struggles with. So it was a big deal for him to actually start getting back online because he just wanted to be able to swipe a card and buy things. And i had to work with him and reinforce the lesson constantly that you can't just buy something, you need to check the account balance first. Well, then I had to learn to start moving money out of the regular account that he uses because if he sees money, he's gonna think he can spend it.
00:32:31
Speaker
So I needed to keep that into our joint account. So there was a whole bunch of detail there. So it was just a big deal getting him to go online and check the balance before he goes to the store. He has done a great job.
00:32:44
Speaker
As I mentioned a few days ago or a week ago, God has god really healed my husband. And so he is able to do things that all of the doctors said were impossible for him to ever do again.
00:32:56
Speaker
So he was checking, he was trying to check the account balance. And for some reason, his password didn't populate. He was pretty close to the password.
00:33:08
Speaker
But he was missing a couple of digits or one or two. And you know, close doesn't count. You got to have the exact password. Well, he kept trying. And I get frustrated because I tell him, you give up so quickly. And so here he was trying to be diligent. And he knows that I get frustrated when he has to ask me for help for so many things. I'm not always the greatest on that and because I've been doing it for so long. And even if I hadn't, I just get frustrated because I just want it to be easy for him like it is for me. And it just isn't. And so I am not great at having that patience.
00:33:42
Speaker
So what if what are we talking about yesterday? having more patience, being kind, having not being quick to anger. and I just, I go from here at the bottom, who way over the top.
00:33:55
Speaker
And I just, I get frustrated like that. So he locked himself out of the online banking and I had spoke with him on the phone and he didn't mention it.
00:34:06
Speaker
He doesn't tell me about these things. And I check the emails frequently, which is something he he just absolutely will not do. So he has his email account and I have to go through his email account. And I do that pretty regularly. And so I was checking it yesterday around two o'clock or so, one o'clock.
00:34:25
Speaker
And I saw that there was an a notification from the bank saying that he had ah tried to log into many times with the incorrect password and now it's locked it out. This is frustrating for me because I had to, we had to call the bank.
00:34:41
Speaker
I had to do it with him because it's his name on the account. It's not one of our joint accounts. It was, it was just irritating. It wasn't, and it could have been worse, but it wasn't. It it was, I was just, I was, just didn't want to have to do anything else.
00:34:55
Speaker
I just, I'm always feel like I'm going here and there and here and there and here and there and everywhere. And I just don't want anything else added to my plate at any point in time, which is not right. So he says to me, he says, i said, you didn't even tell me. And this was hours ago. I was on the phone. You could have told me. He said, well, I didn't want to bother you. You would do so much already.
00:35:16
Speaker
So I had to, God really put it on my heart to think about it and to not judge him and to not be impatient because it's not like he's sitting there going, ha I'm going to frustrate my wife. I'm going to irritate her. I'm going to lock us out of the online account.
00:35:33
Speaker
No, he's not. So he says to me, he says, well, you're always encouraging me and telling me I need to check the account balance before I go to buy anything. And he says, I was trying to do that.
00:35:47
Speaker
So he was trying to do the right thing. So oftentimes our patience, we need to remember to think and see the heart of someone one the way God does.
00:35:59
Speaker
So that's going back full circle that where I said, I want it to be more like God. God doesn't look at our actions that can seem irritating or misplaced.
00:36:10
Speaker
God looks at our heart. And we have to look at the heart too. And when we look at people's hearts, then we stop taking things personally. Well, you're just doing this to irritate me. no Are we just doing things to irritate God?
00:36:29
Speaker
No. Neither are those people that we are so frustrated with and irritable with. So that was how God was working out those applications in me yesterday. And I wanted to share that with you so that because we are meant to confess our sins to one another, not in a sense of like a priest who is going to forgive us and and say something on our behalf or forgiveness. But we are meant to confess our sins to one another so that we can see ourselves in these situations so that we can see how
00:37:03
Speaker
to how to get through it. And so how is that relevant for today? Well, I am one with my husband and this was causing division because of my impatience.
00:37:16
Speaker
So I needed to be thoroughly convicted, which I am, so that I can not just be convicted, but to learn so that I do better in the future.
00:37:27
Speaker
And we call that growth. We call that unification, reconciliation. We call that being together.
00:37:38
Speaker
We are one, not just our spouses or with our children, but with all of us. So that same lesson needs to be carried through to when I meet people or when I work with somebody, because God gives us a family in which to, it's like our test kitchen. It's our learning ground.
00:37:58
Speaker
We have to learn how to do these behaviors within our own family, before they can go out into the world. Jesus taught the followers how to do these things with him before he sent them out.
00:38:13
Speaker
He taught them lessons together before sending them into the world. And so that is how we can be more unified, is to remember that it starts at home in our own family.
00:38:26
Speaker
We must first remember that. And Paul is going to talk about that in Ephesians. So there's a little bit of a of a foreshadowing as to how all of this works together with our book of Ephesians and how everything fits together into the big picture.
00:38:43
Speaker
Well, this is a little bit longer than i expected it to be, but I hope that you feel that God has lit your light today. Thank you so much for being here with me. Thank you for listening. Thank you for watching. Thank you for following, for sharing, for subscribing. And if you would not mind, please, I would encourage you to click your light button.
00:39:02
Speaker
What is the light button? If you are new, you may not have heard of that before. Our light, we are the light of the world. And we can help show that light by clicking what looks like a thumbs up. It looks like a heart. It looks like a share, the follow, the subscribe button. Because what that does is that increases our metrics, no matter where you are listening or watching, so that other people will be encouraged to hear and stick around and also hear God's word, be encouraged.
00:39:32
Speaker
become more unified with one another. And we are helping to spread the word by reading God's word because that's how we learn about all of these lessons is through reading God's word. Because God's word is useful to us, not just to read and say, check, check, I read it, I heard it.
00:39:48
Speaker
But it is useful for teaching us, for correcting our behavior so that we become more like God, more like Jesus. And t that is also equipping us for the good work that God has prepared for not just me, but for you to do. Because you are part of the body and your gene, you need to be expressed wherever you are so that you can do the work that God has set out for you to do.
00:40:18
Speaker
Well, I hope that you are encouraged

Conclusion and Encouragement

by all of that. And it is my prayer that God will give you his spirit of wisdom as well. And to understand and know and to obey.
