Introduction & Falcons Focus

00:00:13
Speaker
What is up, goal line listeners? We are back with a week two episode of the goal line football show. I had another kind of up and down weekend of football, but we're here to bring it to you. And this is going to be a very, very special episode because we are watching Jordan's beloved Falcons play right now on Monday night football. This is the first in goal line history. Hopefully it's the last.
00:00:39
Speaker
We may need to record early and do Sunday night next week so we can watch that cheese game. No, no. You're not putting me through this two weeks in a row, dude. This is going to be all I can fucking do to even focus on podcasting right now. So it could either be gold or absolute dog shit. You guys are really going to get a look into what it's like to watch a game with Jordan.
00:00:59
Speaker
Yeah, for those who don't know, Jordan's obviously extremely passionate about his Falcons, but sometimes I think that passion goes to the dark side and he gets abs... I wouldn't say it's livid, because to me livid's like a rage. It's more of like a seething anger, wouldn't you say, when they're out there just struggling, tripping all over themselves? Yeah, it's going to get even worse when the Falcons sell for a field goal here and it costs you your fantasy game too, because that's what's going to happen here.
00:01:28
Speaker
I went in tonight with an eight point lead in my fantasy football game with no one left to play, but I had a young, quick, young who is that it? Young ho.
00:01:36
Speaker
I had the young ho going against me and yeah, two field goals in the first half. I called it yesterday. When I texted Jordan, I said, dude, I bet the Falcons scored 12 points for all night and it's all field goals. And so far, the prophecy is coming true, dude. We'll see, man. I'm hoping for a touchdown or a turnover right here, man, because yeah, field goal and I'm dunzo. But I don't got a lot of faith in red zone Kirk on prime time.
00:02:01
Speaker
Tell you what, man, the one thing out of this game so far is they are running the shit out of the ball and they're running it downhill. Like there's no finesse running tonight. They be John's pounding it and I got Algier and that's about the only positive I got for the offense because cousins looks completely lost offensively. They've been moving the ball. They've been moving it up and down the field, man. But at some point, yeah, I get touchdowns, you know, the Eagles, even with AJ Brown out, they got a lot of big playmakers, man.
00:02:28
Speaker
It's only so long you're going to keep them out of the end zone. But you know, the defense has played good, too. Now a game and a half into the season, man. I think the Falcons defense is legit. Maybe it's as simple as Kirk kind of just slowly improving as he knocks the rust off throughout the season, man, or if you already sold all your Kirk cousin stock.
00:02:45
Speaker
Just, I'm not getting good feelings from the way he looks through two weeks. I know he had an Achilles injury, but dude, it ain't even that like, I'm not worried about his mobility, but like, I don't think an Achilles affects the way you read a defense and throw the ball. Like, dude, he's been late on every single throw and it's not like the throwing power isn't there. Like he's throwing good passes. It's just late every time he throws it.
00:03:11
Speaker
Yeah, he just looks a little jittery, man. Like the timing's off. Andy took another stack, and here goes your field goal. You're cooked. Hey, young way you could miss, dude. Yeah. He is just so bad. Why couldn't he have fumbled that? He's so bad, dude. He cannot do anything anymore.
00:03:32
Speaker
He looks defeated as he's heading to the sidelines also, you know. He doesn't look like he's pissed or like, you know, I'd almost like it better if he got up and was like jawing at his O-line a little bit, man, but he looks like he's just, you know, shoulder slump, jogging off the field. That's about how I feel right now, defeated. And now you're defeated as well.
00:03:57
Speaker
I hate the freaking foul. I mean, you knew this was going to happen. I know. I said it, dude. It's just, dude, it's frustrating to watch it happen in real time. We're doing this right now. Like, have you ever seen the NFL with like, I don't ever remember this many kickers having fantasy performances over 20 points. Like through two weeks, there's like five kickers that have got 20 points in a game. Insane to me how much there is right now.
00:04:25
Speaker
Yeah, last week I had a group from the Saints. I think he got me like 21 points, dude. Well, yeah. And then Aubrey from the Cowboys, even though they got smoked this week, I think he had like 20 points this week on field goals or out of field goals and stuff. It's just, it's wild to me, dude. We'll get into it. It's just NFL is weird through two weeks.
00:04:45
Speaker
Yeah. So we were on time this week. We started recording basically right as the opening drive of the third quarter was starting Falcons rep nine seven early in the third. What's your read on this one, man? Can the dirty birds hold off or is your night ending in disappointment? I mean, my night's going to end in disappointment whether they hold on or not. This is not giving me the warm fuzzies that the offense is no better than it was last year. Like the last couple of years I had the quarterback to blame because I just thought it was a horrible
00:05:12
Speaker
Decision to have ritter or mariota now. I assumed cousins was gonna actually be like an average quarterback He's not even that he's just as bad as the last two at this point So I don't have good feelings. I think then it believes in the game I wouldn't be surprised if the final ends up being 14 to 12 Brutal day, it's not All right, you're a get into the weekend football. Let's do it
00:05:43
Speaker
All right. Let's, uh, let's go ahead and start with the Thursday night game. We're not going to really discuss too much about the game, but as everyone knows to a concussed again, I dude, I don't know how much longer they can keep doing this. Like for his like future health. I mean, Steve Young has talked about it a lot about all the concussions for him adding up. I just, I don't know how much longer they can let to a go out there and just keep getting hit.

Player Health Concerns

00:06:10
Speaker
It's bad man and he's had the bad ones like it's not like the ones where like it looks like a guy's kind of gotten his bell wrong and then you find out later on no it was a concussion his you know his are the ones where he's like you know seized up man arms going into freaking convulsions like yeah the scary ones where you feel like you know what kind of long-term damage is actually happening here
00:06:32
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it's already come out. He says he's coming back. Jesus. The Dolphins have a vote on that as well, man. He says he's got to get cleared. So I don't know what happens, dude. It sucks because this team, I think they were in the lightweight category, but I definitely think they were a contender. They felt like a team that if the regular season went their way and they got a couple of breaks in the playoffs, I wouldn't have been shocked if when the dust settled, they made it to the Super Bowl this year.
00:07:00
Speaker
It feels like that's shot now, man. Yeah, so I don't know. I don't think we see Tua back this season. I think we end up seeing him out for the whole year. I just think, I think there's gonna be pressure from within the actual NFL to not see this guy out on the field, because I just think, you know, it'll be bad enough if it happens next season, but if he comes back this year and has another concussion, that's just gonna be an awful look for all parties involved. I have a serious question here.
00:07:26
Speaker
so we've obviously seen the guardian cat being worn in games right now right why the fuck are the dolphins not forcing him to wear one dude like of all players in the nfl that should have a guardian cat one two should have one on like that dude needs as much
00:07:44
Speaker
as much cushion around his coconut as completely possible right now. I just, I don't know. I just think it's absolutely stupid that they're not making this dude wear one with all the concussions he's had. People are like, well, it might not be comfortable for him. Well, dude, do you want to be brain dead when you're 30 years old? That's not going to be comfortable either. Yeah. Like dude, I just, I don't get it, man. Like make him wear one. I know it's might not, it's not fashionable and it might not be the most comfortable thing to have on, but
00:08:13
Speaker
I mean, we're talking about a dude's life at this point. Like you can't keep taking hits like that. And I don't know, I feel bad for him. I don't think that there's a, I just don't think there's a good outcome for this. Cause I mean, obviously we all have our own say, but none of us played in the NFL. But I just, I don't see what the advantage of this dude playing football again is at this point. Like it's just, it's not safe for him to be out there.
00:08:39
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be uncomfortable when he comes back to you. Just imagine how nervous everybody's going to be watching him. Every single time he drops back or takes off on a scramble, you're thinking like, is this going to be the one where he gets knocked out again? Because obviously, neither one of us are neurologists. But from watching sports, it definitely seems to be the case that once these things start, it becomes much easier to have successive concussions. Once you have two or three, it seems like it doesn't take as much for you to get- Hey, a falcon sack. I'll be damned.
00:09:07
Speaker
You know concussions four five and six can come real quick man, so I don't know Do you think we see him back this season? I do I just they said he was gonna get Private consultation tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes I mean do that if a doctor tells you not to play you're not playing like they don't mess around with that anymore like this isn't like a player's decision if a doctor says that like that I don't think the team can legally let you play at that point and
00:09:36
Speaker
So, what do you think the Dolphins do, man? Do you think they just ride it out with, uh, what's the name, Skyler Thompson? You gotta make a trade, don't you? Like, I mean, yeah, Jamis is out there, man. I mean, you know, he's always top of my list. I don't think that Browns would trade him, dude, with everything going on with Watson and stuff right now. I don't think they would even consider trading him, honestly.
00:09:56
Speaker
You know, dude, who else is out there, man? It'd be a hell of a story, dude. Ryan Tannehill is still a free agent. He hasn't retired, dude. What if we bring Ryan Tannehill back home to Miami? He looked fine those last couple games for the Titans, man, when he was back 100% healthy, dude. And the old one was playing halfway decent, man.
00:10:14
Speaker
He's a far cry from what he was on that, you know, crew of Renaissance he had in 19, 20, and 21. But Tannehill, he's a much better player than what he showed, you know, that last season and a half there in Tennessee. I mean, up through the middle of 2022, he was a top half QB in the NFL. And I think he'd be a veteran presence. He'd be motivated. He's never had weapons like he would be walking into with that team. So, I don't know. That kind of be a name I'd keep on my radar if I was a Dolphins fan.
00:10:41
Speaker
There's a, this is where the XFL, UFL thing should come into play to Adrian Martinez was the MVP of that week. And he actually had a lot of preseason action with the jets this year. Like those are definitely the types that I could see them signing like a younger guy. Cause here's the other thing, like, dude, if two really cannot move forward playing,
00:11:03
Speaker
they got to get another young guy in there at that point and just hope that they can catch lightning in a bottle and then they're going to have to draft a quarterback again. I mean, you can't just completely throw away the season either as a problem. Like you, I mean, I guess you can, but dude, I think there's still going to be a contender, man. I think that I think they can compete with a backup QB for a lot. They cannot.
00:11:25
Speaker
Yeah. Skyler Thompson showed what he is. I mean, we've already seen it. He's not good enough to run that offense. He doesn't have a good enough arm to run that offense. Yeah, he can keep you afloat if he's got to come in for a drive or two in the game. But he's not somebody you want as you're starting QB for any type of extended amount of time. Dang, that was nice.
00:11:44
Speaker
They have one receiver that's playing tonight and they're not even covering him. Like I just don't know what they're doing here. Eagles are driving down to potentially take the lead on the Falcons. I mean, isn't that the guy that should be getting doubled every play? Like the one guy that can't. The top 10 Heisman winning draft pick. Yeah, I'd say so. He's the one guy I wouldn't let beat you like whatever this team. There's no point in talking about this fucking stupid team.
00:12:12
Speaker
Um, okay. All right. So you're saying, so finally just to put a bow on this one, you're saying we will see to a back on the field in 2024. Um, I don't think we should see him back on the field in 2024, but yeah, my gut is that we see him again this year. All right. I'm saying no. I think he's, I think he's out till next year. Well, if he doesn't play this year, like he shouldn't play at all. Like, I mean, I don't know. I mean, let the Mellon yellow.
00:12:39
Speaker
I mean, dude, the point, the thing is though, is that, and that's why I brought up Steve, Steve Young thing. Like the concussions never really heal. Like it's just, I mean, it's swelling on your brain. Like that never goes away. That's the problem. Like this isn't, this is going to be a recurring thing for him forever. If he keeps getting hit, that's the problem. So, I mean, if you're not playing him this year, like at that point, like I just think, yeah, I started talking about him moving on from football at that point.
00:13:04
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like two is probably not the guy you wait an entire year for also he's kind of just outside that category of quarterback. Yeah. Okay, let's move on from depressing things to actually there is one thing I want to talk about that doesn't deal with the game. Christian McCaffrey, I don't know if you saw this yesterday, but an article came out that the Niners have known that he was not going to play for the first six weeks of the year since preseason.

Injury Controversies and Impact

00:13:32
Speaker
Dude, to me, and I've talked about this numerous people, there is so much money that goes into like fantasy football and gambling and stuff. And the NFL knows that and they take full advantage of it. They, I mean, there's fantasy football shows. All the commercials you see in games.
00:13:52
Speaker
So if if a team is purposely withholding information, especially for someone as good as McCaffrey, who's getting drafted in the top three picks of every fantasy draft, dude, there has got to be something
00:14:07
Speaker
Maybe I'm wrong here. Maybe you can tell me if I'm completely off base, but there has got to be something where you get penalized for doing that. If you really knew that and you withheld that information to me, that's like a no brainer. Like that's, you can't do that in the NFL. I mean, bill bell, check, you see it. Find all, get the E or the Patriots find all the time for withholding injury reports. Last day of the week, like they would, he'd say like he has an illness and then it'd come out on Sunday. Like the dude's got like a broken ankle.
00:14:37
Speaker
Like I just came out that he died the previous week. Just I don't like, dude, at what point does like a team get punished for withholding that information? To me, that's the time that you get punished for that if you're doing that. I mean, so I didn't I saw some of the tweets flying around on this man. I didn't read, you know, I didn't get too in depth on it, man. Is there like stone cold proof that there was a cover up? Because I know that that was always the issue in the past. Why?
00:15:03
Speaker
Everybody knew the Patriots did that basically every single week, but you didn't hear that you didn't like see any actual punishment come down that often. I think it's basically got to be one of those things where you're like proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. I'll give you the proof. We can read the tea leaves. They didn't want the dude doing any physical activities, all training camp.
00:15:22
Speaker
He did not practice one time during training camp. They said there was zero chance he was practicing with the team or doing anything weight related or anything like that. Then it comes out that, oh, he's questionable week one. And then Jordan Mason says, oh yeah, I've known since Friday. I was starting on Monday. They didn't announce until Monday. And then this week, I'll just dig it even deeper.
00:15:46
Speaker
They played yesterday and then after the game, they got asked about McCaffrey and Shanahan said, I think he's still a couple of weeks out. Like, dude, that's literally you admitting that you knew this dude was not going to be ready to play for the season opener. Like, even if it was only ended up being two games, which it doesn't sound like that's the case at all. It's going to be multiple weeks still. Like, I don't know, man.
00:16:11
Speaker
It sucks for fantasy owners, sucks for all the people that were throwing down big money on 49ers futures bets and stuff, man. I'm with you, dude. It's definitely frustrating to me, but I don't know enough about the specifics on exactly what the league charter or rules or whatever say on that.
00:16:28
Speaker
to know how much enforcement they have. I would definitely, I think if you're a McCaffrey fantasy owner, if you're somebody that puts some stacks down on the Niners, winning 13 games this season, I'd be pretty pissed off and I'd feel better about it if I saw them held accountable. But I'm not holding my breath on anything actually happening to these guys. Yeah, I agree.
00:16:46
Speaker
The other thing from the Niners is they also announced today that Deebo is going to be out at least a month. So Niners are not off to a good start this season. Super Bowl hangover, dude. Super Bowl hangover. The crazy thing about that game yesterday, man, like, yeah, McCaffrey's out, but, dude, Mason's still getting it done. I mean, I can't imagine Christian McCaffrey putting up too much crazier numbers than him, but I think Christian McCaffrey just... That shows you how good he is, man, because even outside of the production, he just puts the entire defense on their heels every time he's out there.
00:17:15
Speaker
And yeah, man, the Niners just, you know, they, they moved the ball. Okay. They could just not get points, man. Like they couldn't get over the hump to, to, to get the touchdowns. I think, you know, Mason had over a hundred yards rushing again and Brock had 300 yards passing, but 14 points just ain't going to get it done most weeks. No. Okay. My next note in here, and this, this is a special note just for Seth. He did not know I was doing this. So Seth prepare yourself for some audio gold.
00:17:45
Speaker
Remember the time you say your best football game in your life? Remember the time after that victory you went to DC Pizza and celebrated with the boys? Yes, sir. It's better than your heart, man. It's a long way back to Cleveland. Let's not leave you without a victim. So put everything you got on the line today. Let's have a game of memory, man. I remember. Let's go.
00:18:09
Speaker
Yeah, where's my, where's my helmet and shoulder pads right now, bro? Fucking suit me up, dude. I'm going in to play hooking at a strong safety for the Falcons, the fourth quarter, dude. Like, let's fucking go, man. Remember when you won that game and got to go to CC? This dude is just an absolute hero. No wonder they won yesterday.
00:18:28
Speaker
Dude, if I'm a coach, I'm putting him on my, uh, on my staff, dude. Like when I got, just if nothing else, just for, for, for culture, dude, to just set the tone, man, on my coach and staff. Like, dude, how, how do you go into battle with the Sean Lawson when you got, you got Jamis there, man? I have no idea. We might as well touch a little bit on that game, dude. Trevor Lawrence looks absolutely lost playing quarterback right now. Like I,
00:18:53
Speaker
That team is in trouble, man. I know before this does, Peterson's got one of the hottest seats in the league right now. I think he might have the hottest seat dude. Trevor Lawrence looks awful, man. He looks completely lost at this point. So I don't not getting good vibes from that. That was a good win for the Browns though, man. They needed something after the week. They just had so good to win for them for sure. They needed that one.
00:19:15
Speaker
I'm still a believer in Trevor Lawrence, man. I think this has more to do with the Jaguars and coaching and whatever's going on with that scheme down there, dude. Because the way I've seen this guy play at times, I don't know what's happened over the last season and a half, man. But there's something major definitely needs to happen with Jacksonville because it's not going good, man. No.
00:19:35
Speaker
Um, okay. So, uh, we'll talk about the bangles and chiefs next.

Highlight Games of the Week

00:19:41
Speaker
Um, I actually went to this game yesterday and it is, I just have to say it is always an absolute treat going to Arrowhead. Cause it is, I mean, it's truly one of the loudest stadiums you can ever go to. Like it's the, their fans are just there all day. Just absolute animals. We pulled into Kansas city about 11 o'clock for a three 30 kickoff and.
00:20:02
Speaker
All the parking lots are already completely full. Like those people had been out there for three hours before we got there. It's just, it's an absolute scene. And man, we were treated to an instant classic of a football game like that. That's a game of the year candidate already. So yeah, it's a,
00:20:21
Speaker
Bengals are, they always play the Chiefs so well, man. I saw a stat this morning that the last six mings between the Chiefs and Bengals, both teams have scored 150 points. So can't get any closer than that. Yeah, they definitely got the Chiefs number better than anybody else in the league, man. It was a great game, dude. Did you guys have eyes on Taylor from where you were sitting?
00:20:46
Speaker
I tried to look for a couple of times just to see if I could see her, but no, I could not see anything in those boxes. So I know in the stadium, it was, you know, everybody was convinced from the moment they saw that that was, you know, past appearance on that last play. Well, what did what did you think, man, seeing it with your naked eye right there in the stands? What did it look like?
00:21:06
Speaker
I mean, it was close. I guess more than anything, I feel like they let so much go anymore. Unless it's blatant anymore, I feel like they kind of just let it go during the game. So to make a call like that with the game on the line is pretty wild. Now listen, am I saying it was not pass interference? No, I'm not saying that because there's definitely an argument to be made that it was pass interference. So I'm not going to argue that it wasn't.
00:21:30
Speaker
It just always sucks to see a game end like that. And dude, for the chiefs, it, everything always just gets louder when a game ends like that too. Cause everybody's always like, Oh man, they always get bailed out by the refs at the end of the game. And it does happen a lot, but it's, I don't know. I think it's more than that, dude. They're just, they're a really sound football team. I don't know what's going on with their offense though, dude, like
00:21:53
Speaker
I think it just is what it is, man. I think it's, I mean, it seems like they should be putting up more points with Rashid Rice getting a year better and Xavier Worthy out there, but they are, I was talking to a dude at work today. That's pretty big cheese fan, man. Like I think they're, I think they're more akin to like the Patriots in like the middle of Tom Brady's career now than, uh, you know, when he was the explosive QB, dude, I think they're all about just being efficient and
00:22:16
Speaker
playing bad-ass defense and keeping the game close to where Pat Mahomes can go win it at the end, man. They don't seem to be in the business of dropping 45 points on teams. Now watch, they're going to go out and light up the Falcons this Sunday night and make me sound dumb. But all last season, I don't really remember any games where they look like the Chiefs that we knew those first couple of years of
00:22:41
Speaker
We got a touchdown. Nice with the flip into the end zone. I'm rooting for the Falcons now that now that my fantasy games already smoked, I'm rooting for the Falcons, man. Going for two also. Let's go. Look at Darnell Mooney catching touchdown passes. Beautiful thing to see. Yeah, Darnell Mooney just had a 30 plus yard catching run for the touchdown. Falcons up 15-10 going for two with a minute to go in the third quarter.
00:23:05
Speaker
Yeah, I think this is what it is. I think they're in just efficient mode. I don't think they're going for the big plays, man. Going back to that play, I agree with you, man. I think letter of the law, it was definitely passion or fairness, but it did not seem like it was enough to get a flag on a game deciding play, if that makes sense. Yeah, it's just, it's one of those things. And just kind of, that's why I asked you about the Chiefs offense.
00:23:31
Speaker
Good god cousins. Are you fucking serious dude? Like what is that? Somebody had to be open dude. There were four Eagles right around Drake London, right? Basically had him boxed in dude. There had to have been somebody open man. It's physically impossible that there wasn't somebody wide open
00:23:46
Speaker
Uh, I think the, the, but the cheat, dude, my homes is so freaking clutch, man, that they're almost in that, you know, Brady's the, the close comparison we got, man. And they're in that Brady zone where dude, a one score leads, not safe, man. You need to be up to scores on them in the final minutes. He's, he's the Michael Myers of football, dude. Like he's not dead until, you know, his head's chopped off and he set on fire, man. Like they're just.
00:24:11
Speaker
They're tough, man. They've looked the part, man, that they're going to go for the three-peat after these first two games. They played two of their biggest threats in the AFC. They took their best shots, and they're walking out of it 2-0.
00:24:23
Speaker
The other thing I was going to bring up, and I said this last week too, dude, being at that game and just, there was a lot of times I was just focusing on Travis Kelsey, just watching him, dude, he just looks like he's running in mud at this point. Like there's just no explosiveness at all. And like you just said, I'm saying all this now and he's going to go out and have 200 yards receiving at four times. I know how dumb we can sound at certain times, but like, I have to give you like what I see and
00:24:49
Speaker
And I mean, the numbers bear it out, dude. I think he didn't have what, like one catch for five yards or something like that. So through two weeks, he has four catches for 39 yards. Yeah. I mean, he's still, you know, I think he's still going to be somebody that you got to, you got to contend with on third downs or down at the red zone or a big play just because him and my home has been together so long, but he's not a guy who's just going to straight up beat you with athleticism anymore.
00:25:11
Speaker
You know the other thing that I have noticed through two weeks because Mahomes, you just don't see him make mistakes. Dude, that first pick that he threw yesterday was literally right to the guy. The second one was one of the most incredible picture ever going to see this season. But the first one, I mean, he just literally threw it right to the guy. Like the guy was just standing there and he threw it to him. You don't really see him get flustered or confused too much, which I think is kind of a,
00:25:37
Speaker
a nod to what their offense is now, dude. They just, I don't know, man, Xavier, where are these a young guy? And after everything everybody said after last week that he's just a straight line runner, which hard to argue after watching game two of his career. I mean, he literally, if he wasn't running in a straight line, he wasn't doing anything. They handed him that ball off on a running play and he had to cut back and you could just tell he lost all momentum and it only ended up getting five yards. And there was a hole there. It just,
00:26:05
Speaker
Yeah. I don't know, man. It's just, there's a weird team. Like again, they're two and O and they're back to back defending super world champions, but it's just, they're just so much different now. I don't know. I just, they were like, they had big greatest show on turf fives the first couple of years in my homes. And like I said, now they're just like the Patriots to me, man, defense and, and the most clutch QB you've ever seen. Here's the other thing about them. Like dude, the last, like, yeah, the beginning of last year and obviously going to the playoffs, we were like, ah, they're beatable. Like,
00:26:34
Speaker
dude, to me, they still just, they looked so beatable yesterday. Like the bangles had every chance to win that game. And it wasn't for that fluke fumble, man. I think the bangles probably get out of there with the dove dude. I mean, it took that fumble, which I mean, yeah, dude chiefs, the defense forced it, but fumbles are always a little bit of a fluke, man. You never know which way that ball is going to bounce. You had that and that call at the end. Like, yeah, I think the bangles were probably the better team yesterday, man, not by a lot, but by just a little bit, I think the bangles were a better team, but she didn't get it done.
00:27:03
Speaker
Yeah. Um, okay. The other thing, and I brought sub next or last week as well, there was only three, 300 yard passers in the second week of the season. So through two weeks, we have five, uh, 300 yard passers. Like, dude, this is insane, man. I just,
00:27:20
Speaker
Offense has been abysmal so far, man. It has in everywhere outside of New Orleans. Yeah, it just has not been good at all. So just weird. We have to touch on it. You just brought it up. The Saints. What the hell, dude? Hi.
00:27:38
Speaker
I don't think it's for real. I think they had two really, really good weeks, man. We talked about this right before we went on the air. I think we looked back by Halloween time. We were like, dude, remember when the Saints were dropping 40 burgers on people to start the season? And we were like, what the hell happened, man? I don't know if it's something. I've really been
00:27:58
Speaker
My own my whole NFL research so far this year has just been literally watching the games I've been listening to really many podcasts or reading any articles on this I don't know if there's something new like X's and O's wise that they're doing on offense that you know, the other teams just have not been able to contend with yet, but
00:28:14
Speaker
I just can't live in a world with all the football I've watched in my entire life. I can't exist in a world where Derek Carr is going out and just setting the freaking field on fire every single week.

Team Performances and Predictions

00:28:26
Speaker
It just does not compute with my brain.
00:28:28
Speaker
Well, I still think you can throw out week one because the Panthers are the worst team in the NFL and it's not even close. So I still think you can throw that one out. This one was definitely way more impressive. Like beating the shit out of the Cowboys, no matter what, however you want to talk about them. I mean, it's still impressive. They're talented team, dude. They're really talented rosters.
00:28:47
Speaker
Yeah. So I think this one was a little bit more like eye opening to me. Like week one really wasn't eye opening because the Panthers are terrible. Um, but yeah, this one was impressive, man. They, they looked good and they looked apart, but I agree with you. Derek hard is going to turn back into a pumpkin at some point. Like there's just.
00:29:05
Speaker
We, I have a, I have a Saint's fan or a Saint's friend and he's like, uh, Oh, Derek broke down car in any day. Now that car is going to break down on the side of the road. Give it time. Yeah. He's fans hate him. He's one of the most, the least beloved athlete in Louisiana.
00:29:21
Speaker
he he said yesterday he's like I'm so glad they're two and oh and very impressive that the two wins but he's like it's just a matter of time before something bad goes wrong for him like he 100% is not a believer in what's happening right now it's just I don't know man NFL is just weird right now dude it's just after everything we saw yesterday like the Ravens losing to the Raiders and
00:29:43
Speaker
All this shit we've seen through two weeks. I don't know, man, it, it almost feels like the first two weeks now are basically preseason. Like everybody's just feeling each other out, which is why I'm throwing caution when I say like, we think that the chief's offense isn't good because by week three, they could be completely clicking and my home serves for 400 yards and they put up 50 points. Like I'm not saying that's not possible. I'm just saying like the first two weeks feel like preseason at this point. Yeah.
00:30:12
Speaker
Definitely. Agreed, man. And it'll be funny to look back at, like, we need to make this a feature if we remember it, dude. Like, take a snapshot of the standings after this Monday night game wraps up and go back and look at them, like, you know, the week 17. See how crazy some of these first two weeks really were. Yeah. That's it for NFL Talk. I figure I'll save my one college topic for when we actually get into the college picks and stuff if you're good with that. Sounds like perfect timing.
00:30:56
Speaker
Dude, what are you gonna do when somehow, some way, some day, you cross paths with Shador and he's just like, hey, I heard all that shit you were talking about on the Gold Line podcast. Pretty sure Shador doesn't fucking think anybody besides him is relevant, so he would never listen to our podcast. Like, he's too busy. That Colorado State QB definitely got under his skin.
00:31:19
Speaker
Dude, the every week that team just irritates me more like sharing my door had to leave the field before the game ended with the Huskers because he wasn't man enough to shake their hand after the game after him and his brother ran their mouths on the field before the game. And then he does all that after the game there. It's like, dude, this is the biggest front running team ever when they're winning. It's like, Oh, man, everything's so great. And then when they lose, they're like, Oh, it's somebody else's fault. I just
00:31:46
Speaker
I don't get these trash talking is just part dude. That's trash. That's part of trash talking dude You talk during the week after the game you dap it up. Look at look at like Michael Jordan, dude He's a legendary shit talker. He would always dap it up with the other teams afterwards and it was all love man all the shit talk That's just part of the gamesmanship. He was calling Larry Bird a bitch and stuff before the games It seems like these guys like it seems like you know These their whole motto is to really really take it personally, you know, and it just it's kind of ugly man. I
00:32:15
Speaker
Yeah, I don't get it either. The one college topic I had for this week, and we're just going to kind of feed off of it. What are your thoughts on them moving Texas up to number one already? I mean, after I saw what Arch Manning did, shit, dude.
00:32:37
Speaker
I don't know, man. It may be, it may be right there. And I think it's, I think it has more to do with Georgia, how Georgia looked against Kentucky. I mean, dude, if Kentucky's coach has a little bit more balls there at the end and doesn't punt in the closing minutes of that game and goes for it on that four down, they get it, man.
00:32:52
Speaker
We could be looking at Georgia taking a loss to the Wildcats somehow. So I think it has more to do with that. I mean, Texas has been as impressive as anybody. You know I'm a homer for the Vols, dude. I think the Vols have actually looked like the best team. They don't got the big signature win like Texas did going into the big house and kicking Michigan's ass. But I can't really hate on Michigan being number one too much. I do think Georgia just had a... Yeah, Texas, my bad. I can't really hate on Texas being number one too much.
00:33:18
Speaker
I do think Georgia is still the better team, man. And they had a tough week for whatever reason. But yeah, Texas looked good. And dude, Peyton Manning originally won his job as starter when Todd Helton, a legendary baseball player for the Colorado Rockies, he was the ball starting quarterback and he got injured. And Peyton Manning came on in relief as a freshman and did so good that they just never brought Todd Helton back, dude. Like Arch Manning, he looked like the truth the other night. That run.
00:33:45
Speaker
that 67 yard run, that's way more athleticism than anyone else in the Manning family had ever had. Go back and watch Archie, bro. Archie was a scramble dude. Peyton and Eli for sure. I don't think there was ever a season where Peyton and Eli combined for 67 yards rushing in a whole season. That was the funniest thing is they interviewed Peyton and he's like, it must have skipped a generation because me and Eli have none of that.
00:34:08
Speaker
Go back and watch Archie, dude. Archie was low key. He was a hell of a scrambler. I don't know if it was out of the way he wanted to play it for just because those Saints teams you were on were so bad, dude. But Archie Manning was a really, really great player on a horrible team. Nowadays, he would have left the Saints after three or four seasons and went to a better situation. But you just didn't do that back then, man. If you were a guy like him, you get drafted by a team, and you're there for 10, 12 years, and that's it. But dude.
00:34:34
Speaker
Obviously, you know Quinn Ewers is great man, but he's Quinn Ewers is kind of got a penchant for he's got a little bit of like that Brett Farbenham that he can make that backbreaking mistake on you Dude if he missed you know if he's it ends up being out for a couple weeks man, I would I'd be very concerned man cuz Dude, actually he lived up to the hype man
00:34:55
Speaker
Yeah. That's what I was going to say too, is like, dude, he looked so good on those, on the game that he played. Like he just, everything was just so smooth and crisp on everything that he did. So yeah, I, uh, I really came away from that game with a lot of, um, newfound respect for arch manning. Like he looked all the part of what everybody made him out to be. So yeah, it's going to be interesting what they do moving forward. Now they officially have two number one quarterbacks.
00:35:25
Speaker
Yeah, strained abdomen. So he's questionable, dude. If I'm yours, man, I'm doing everything in my power to make it back for that next game, dude. I mean, it seems like they have a good relationship. I think they do, because if they didn't, I think you would have seen archmanning transfer after Quinn Ewers came back this season.
00:35:45
Speaker
Yeah, it could get uncomfortable down there in Austin, man. Because like you said, he looked awesome. And he's got it in his blood, dude. Grandpa was an NFL starting quarterback. We know what his uncles did. And dude, his dad, before they found that final condition, yeah, he was going to Ole Miss to play wide receiver, man.
00:36:01
Speaker
Dude's going to be the truth, man. You know, NFL teams already licking their chops, dude. Like if I'm if I'm one of these bottom feeders, I'm almost like starting like a, you know, a two year tank, dude, to make sure that I'm at the top of the draft to get this guy because he really feels like you can't miss, dude. You know, he's got a good he's got a good head on his shoulders and, you know, he's getting the best advice that anybody could ever get, you know, that the people that he has in his circle. So it's going to be fun seeing what he does over the rest of this season and in the next couple of years. Arch Manning is what Shadure Sanders thinks he is.
00:36:31
Speaker
Like that's the best way. Like dude, arch manning is the can't miss prospect and shadora sanders thinks he's the canvas prospect. Like arch man is what you get when your mom says, Hey, we have arch manning at home. We're not buying this exactly. Uh, but yeah, that, that was all I really had for football. Huskers win again, Tennessee wins again. We're obviously going to bring that up every week. Um, Huskers play.
00:36:54
Speaker
this is embarrassing for me to say this, but first time they're playing a top 25 matchup at home since 2013 where both teams are in the top 25. Are you trying to go to this game? I can't. I guess it's a Friday night game. We just, it would be too rushed. We can't do it, unfortunately. So, uh, I love the Friday night football, dude. You got a taste of it last week with Arizona and K state. Just a nice, nice little treatment on Friday evening. For sure. How are we doing picks last week, Seth?
00:37:22
Speaker
I don't even want to talk about it, dude. Oh, wow. Weird. You keep losing on college football picks every week. I mean, you live, eat, breathe, and sleep college football for your entire adult life, dude. I've kind of took like a 10-year hiatus off of it ever since the video game stopped. Better get back into it soon.
00:37:40
Speaker
My whole reason for watching college was just to keep up with, you know, who I need to be playing and watching out for on the video game, dude. So, yeah, I'm slowly getting back into it. Let's get into the picture this week, man. We got the Fighting Illini coming into Lincoln, like you said, Friday night game. You know that crowd is going to be a freaking madhouse. Nebraska's nine and a half point favorites. I think they crushed that spread. Yeah, dude.
00:38:00
Speaker
Illinois is not good. Like I'm happy they got into the top 25 for this game so we can put an end to that streak. But I just, I think Nebraska is really good on both sides of the ball. Um, I listened to Joel Klatt's podcast quite a bit and, um, he just raves about Nebraska. Like
00:38:18
Speaker
Dylan Riolle is the truth and he's just he's really good He's really poised for a freshman and their defense is just nails. So yeah, I They're gonna be in a playoff team, dude. I'm looking at this schedule man. I think they're gonna dust USC I mean, that's not gonna be easy. I think they're gonna beat them obviously Ohio State's gonna be a nightmare game going to Columbus Ohio State's just a ridiculous team probably the best defense in the nation but
00:38:44
Speaker
But dude, I feel like as long as they don't go in there and just get straight freaking dog walked, man, I feel like they could have a tough respectable loss against Ohio State and maybe be one of the last teams to get in the playoffs, man, with a one loss record. If they are seven and one, even losing to Ohio State, I don't think there's any shame in losing that game. Yeah, exactly. Just as long as they don't get 50 to three or something like that. Dude, you keep it like a 10, 15 point game, and you're going to be respectable. Hang with them. Yeah.
00:39:13
Speaker
I think if they keep it there and they're seven and one going into that UCLA game, they beat UCLA who is absolutely fucking miserable by the way. And then you got USC and then you close it out with Wisconsin and Iowa. Like, dude, there's a lot of shit in front of Nebraska. If they, if they can get through that stretch.
00:39:32
Speaker
They got some tough games each week like there's no these aren't cake walks But I don't I don't think I would I'm picking them to lose a game until they go to Ohio State You know, I mean, I don't think I'd pick them after that But yeah, any week is tough man, like they some of these teams are definitely gonna give them a challenge with that jail hurts was gonna
00:39:49
Speaker
get up that sideline there. The Eagles are threatening the Falcons right now. They're inside the taking our line. We got about eight minutes to go in, uh, in this game. Um, it's going to really help too, that the Falcons first road game is against Purdue. Cause there's going to, or sorry, the Huskers first, sorry. I'm watching the Falcons. We knew what you meant.
00:40:07
Speaker
the Huskers first road game is against Purdue. Cause I mean, what Notre Dame just did to them should tell you what that, that team is not going to be good this year. And Nebraska fans are going to sell that place out. So yeah, that'll be a nice little entry into road games for the season. So yeah, I'm excited, man. I mean, it could all come crashing down at any point, but, uh, so far, man, this is, this has been fun to watch

College Football Insights

00:40:31
Speaker
for me. Like it's just, it's exciting to be excited to watch Husker games again. So
00:40:36
Speaker
How, um, how is the big 10 conference championship now? Is it just the two top teams? Do they have divisions? There's no divisions. They, their division could end up playing against them, dude. If they end up having to like, you know, if they lose to Ohio state twice, dude, but you know, maybe, maybe that's their two losses. If they make the big 10 conference, whoever is in the big 10 conference title game is they're both going to the playoff. They've,
00:41:01
Speaker
They've basically made that known at this point that the two teams that are in the conference championship games are going to the playoffs. They're not going to screw somebody out of it just for losing twice to the same team.
00:41:12
Speaker
Yeah, because I feel like it almost de-incentivizes even having a conference championship game. You know what I mean? Yeah. Because you're going to hang a loss on, if you're at the conference and you're rooting for, at least you saw Saquon Barkley score to take the lead also. So hopefully Jordan's mood doesn't change too much because he's been surprisingly chipper for watching the Falcons game. I mean, to be completely honest, they haven't played nearly as bad as I was thinking they were going to play, so. We just got to keep potting, man. They've been good since we've been potting.
00:41:40
Speaker
Yeah, dude, I'm thinking if I'm a conference man, like why would I, unless I knew it wasn't going to be a penalty for the loser, why even put on the conference championship game? I mean, I know you're going to do it for the money anyways, but it's definitely counterproductive if your goal is to get as many teams as possible in the playoff, because you're going to be hanging a high profile loss on one of your teams at the end of the season. It's definitely down. It's not a touchdown, but they're going to score on the next play.
00:42:03
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I agree with you. I agree with you. If that becomes a thing, they're going to have to do away with conference title games because that's not going to go over well.
00:42:13
Speaker
Or maybe even do the, you can rig it up to where maybe you do the playoff field before that and then those games are just for sheeting or something, you know? Almost like a pre-playoff game. But either way, yeah, so we're both picking Nebraska. Let's go to our next. So moving on to Saturday, 2.30. This is a good one. Classic rivalry, USC at Michigan. I haven't been impressed with Michigan, man. I think a lot of bad vibes around that program too.
00:42:39
Speaker
I think, uh, I think Miller Moss gets in there and gets it done, man. I think we see Michigan take their second L of the season. USC gets the upset. They are, uh, no, excuse me. USC favorites right now by six and a half points, man. Um, so yeah, I think they go in on the road and get it done. I have no faith in this Michigan team at all, man. This is going to probably be a boring week for picks for everybody. Cause I did, I don't see, I mean, I see a way Michigan could win this game, but
00:43:06
Speaker
Just based off what I've seen through three weeks, I just, I think USC is a way better team. Their defense is good. And yeah, I'm, I'm going USC as well. And I think they went pretty convincingly, honestly.
00:43:21
Speaker
All right, three o'clock kickoff, Oklahoma State's got Utah coming to town. Oklahoma State's a, it depends on where you look at the line. There's some lines have, some lines have OK State is a favorite, some have Utah is the favorite. And what I'm looking at right now has Utah as two point favorite right now.
00:43:39
Speaker
Um, I think they get it done too. I think Utah is one of the best teams in the league. I think they're actually somehow underrated right now at number 12. And I think they're going to be a big problem for teams in the playoffs. I think Utah goes in and, uh, and gets the win on the road against the, uh, the Oklahoma state, the Cowboys. Yeah. Yeah. Against the Cowboys. Yeah, dude. I just, I'm with you, man. Honestly, I think Utah is just a way better team while they really did not get that.
00:44:05
Speaker
Oklahoma state could have easily gotten beat by Arkansas a couple of weeks back. Yeah, I don't, I don't think Oklahoma state's as good as their record and their, um, their record and just, I dunno, their ranking, all that stuff. So yeah, I'm, I'm going to go Utah as well. Cam, the only thing that makes me nervous is Cam rising did not play last week and they did fine against Utah state. If he doesn't play this week,
00:44:30
Speaker
that really makes me question that game, but I'm going to say for the benefit of this, he's going to play and I'll go Utah. All right. And last huge game, Tennessee going to Oklahoma to face the, uh, the Sooners man, their first sec, first sec game for Oklahoma.
00:44:51
Speaker
Yeah, you know the stadium is going to be freaking lit, man. I think this is going to be an extremely tough game. It's going to be a gut check time for Tennessee because they've looked as impressive as anybody all season long. They've rocketed up from 15th to 6th in the polls. Nikos looked every bit of the best player in college football.
00:45:10
Speaker
This is different though, dude. Oklahoma's got a good defense. This is going to be a damn tough game, dude. Call me a homer, dude. I think Tennessee makes enough plays. I think we get an instant classic, man, that Tennessee wins by the skin of their teeth, man. They have somehow Tennessee as a seven-point favorite right now. I think the line is right, dude. Oklahoma has not looked overly impressive through three weeks. I mean, they almost dropped that Houston game, and Tulane just made some boneheaded plays on Saturday night.
00:45:39
Speaker
Dude, I just, I think Tennessee is just a better team. I told you this was going to be a boring week of picks and I'm not picking Oklahoma because I just refuse. I just, I think Tennessee's a better team, dude, and I think they're going to show it now. Granted, we did just say Tennessee has not had a test at all because the teams they have played have definitely been lower competition and Oklahoma has played some better teams, but I just,
00:46:02
Speaker
I don't know, man. I just, I still don't buy Oklahoma as a playoff contender. I don't think they're that good. And I think Tennessee is going to show everyone why this weekend. I agree with you, dude. I think, I think Tennessee is going to move the ball on their offense or on their defense pretty easily. NC state was definitely overrated, but still Tennessee did drop a 50 burger on a man. So yeah, Tennessee absolute juggernaut dude, 69 to three, 51 to 10 and 71. Nothing are the scores for Tennessee so far. Yeah.
00:46:30
Speaker
All right, so we're all we're in lockstep this week, huh? Yeah, this dude. This was just going to be such a tough week. When I looked at the games, I already knew who I was going to pick. And unless you were going to just be a dick and just pick Oklahoma just for the fun of it or not, Oklahoma, Illinois, just for the fun of it. I was like, there's no way we're going to disagree on anything this week.
00:46:49
Speaker
Yeah. It's just the way the, the, I mean, granted we are getting four good games on paper, but I can see all these games honestly being blowouts. If I'm being completely honest, like I can easily see all these being 10 plus spreads. I just,
00:47:06
Speaker
Looking ahead, go and start thinking about it, man. We got a true heavyweight fight next week. We've got Georgia and Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Dude, that's going to be a freaking slug fast. Wasn't there? There was quite a few good games next week. I feel like Oklahoma. Yeah. Yeah. We got a handful of ranked games as it stands right now, but yeah, Alabama and Georgia, number two against number four. That's the big one. Notre Dame's got a huge test next week too. They got Louisville coming into.
00:47:30
Speaker
to Notre Dame so yeah there's gonna be some good games like thank god we made it through the first three weeks of the season like now we're on to bigger and better things because we're getting a conference play this is when college football really gears up all right let's hit the uni watch
00:48:04
Speaker
Alright, it's time for the Uni Watch where we talk about any interesting alternates that teams rocked the past weekend of football.

Uniforms and Aesthetic Critique

00:48:11
Speaker
You know, we mentioned Tennessee being a juggernaut. I forgot to give the update the top of the show, man. You know, Brett's Arlington Tigers now 3-0. We played what we thought was going to be a really tough game against Mount Moriah. They were the champs of their inner city team from Memphis. They were the champs two years ago.
00:48:26
Speaker
And we were expecting a real test, man. We went out there and dropped them 41 to nothing. So at the three games, we won 27 zip, 21 zip, and 41 to zip. So yeah, things are still going great, man. I think that's just going to be the game plan for the rest of the season. Just don't let the other team score. That's a solid plan there, Coach Phelps. Like, Bill Belichick, you're dropping on us tonight? Yeah, we're just not going to let them score, man. And we'll see what happens, dude.
00:48:52
Speaker
It's just fucking garbage Okay, cousin just missed badly on a deep ball six minutes left. What's how confident are you feeling right now? Do 10 the Falcons definitely winning zero? There's no chance. They're winning Falcons down three six twelve going I'm on a three Especially after that throw when Mooney came wide open Yeah
00:49:14
Speaker
He did stop running, dude. Did you see that? And Mooney came out of his break and stopped for a step. So I think, I mean, he still probably gets overthrown, but I think him and Kirk both got a little piece of the blame pie there. Yeah, I do not feel good about this. Now, Cousins has to drop back on third and nine. This should go fucking well. I'm sure he won't take a sack here to end the game. All right. Thursday night. Oh, never mind. We got to do uni walks.
00:49:40
Speaker
You wanna watch this play live? Yeah, I'm watching this play live. You can go ahead with the Uni watch. I'll contribute.
00:49:47
Speaker
This is a big, oh, we got a timeout now. This is a high leverage play right here, dude. If the Falcons miss this one, their chances of winning go down drastically. Starting off with Thursday Night Football, man, the Dolphins rocked those beautiful throwbacks, dude. They brought these back last season. They look outstanding. The Dolphins have one of the most beautiful jerseys in the league anyways, and when they do the throwbacks, it just takes it up a notch. They need to go to these permanently. That logo is just
00:50:12
Speaker
100 times better than the logo they have now. Also, I love everything about these unis. I like the bolder like stripes and stuff too on the sleeves, man. They just it's like a little slightly darker like turquoise or whatever. Yeah, dude, the 90s jerseys and stuff 80s and 90s jerseys are so much better. Like it's just like NFL teams feel like they got to go volt and bright colors on everything now and
00:50:35
Speaker
I hate it, man. It's full, bright, and it seems like all the stripes are kind of like half stripes with like soft edges, dude. I like the bold, like chunky stripes like you see on these guys. Yeah, like the old Vikings uniforms, like that kind of stuff. Let's go to college football. We saw Missouri rocking the yellow tops with the black pants. I thought it was a pretty tough look, man. Yeah, it's cool. I mean, it's not like my favorite thing ever, but yeah, I mean, it's a good look for them. It's just a little different than their normal ones. So yeah, I like it.
00:51:03
Speaker
Ole Miss with the white helmets, the white on white on white. I thought this was one of the cleanest looks of the whole weekend. That's beautiful. Yeah, that is really cool. I like their jerseys a lot too with the stripe on the shoulder pads. I think that's a good look.
00:51:16
Speaker
got a classic look man and you know the red white and blue you can never go wrong with that but yeah when they put the just the all white from head to toe it looks nice man Tennessee had to go this one because you specifically uh you said you do not like this look man Tennessee with the orange jersey and the orange pants i do not like this at all i much prefer orange jersey with white pants i just i don't know man it just it looks so weird with the white helmet like i
00:51:39
Speaker
Yeah, to me, with the white pants looks great. To me, if they're doing this, I feel like they should have gone all out. They have an orange ultimate helmet. Go with the orange helmet, too. Just make it once a year thing. Do you call it freaking orange crush? If you're using the white helmet, you cannot do orange jersey and orange pants. It just looks so fucking weird. Yeah, I agree. I think I'm saying it with you, though, man. Tennessee, they're like Texas, dude. They don't need any alternate anything. Just go with the orange jersey, white pants every week. Yeah.
00:52:05
Speaker
All right, speaking of orange, the Bears rocked those horrible orange jerseys last year, dude. I really think it's more to do with the helmet than the jerseys, because I never minded these orange jerseys back in like the Rex Grossman, Brian Ehrlacher era. I thought they looked pretty tough, man. But with the, something about the orange helmet, like doesn't give enough contrast. I just, I really hate this look. Dude.
00:52:25
Speaker
I don't like this either. I don't think it's a good look at all for them. I do. There's just, there's a couple of teams in the NFL that should never rock an alternate helmet. The bears are one of them. Like that, that Navy helmet with the orange C on it is that's just the bears dude. We don't need to do this. Like there's, there's no bears and Packers. They don't even need alternate jerseys, dude. They can rock their regular uniforms week in and week out there. They're timeless. Like I get like colleges do this and stuff because it's to recruit kids. You ain't recruiting no kids to come play for the bears.
00:52:55
Speaker
Oh, God, dude, just got absolutely fucking stuffed on fourth and one. God. Just no creative. Oh, please tell me they were offsides. I think it's personal foul for his health and taking off his helmet.
00:53:13
Speaker
So Falcons went forward on fourth and one. Huge pop from CJ Gardner-Johnson to stop the play dead. But then his helmet comes off afterwards and we're waiting to see if... Nothing. They called nothing. Fucking Christ. That referee, he made a business decision. He's like, I got to make it out of Philly alive tonight.
00:53:37
Speaker
Let's see the replay. I couldn't tell. To me, it looked like the helmet was definitely jarred loose, but then he threw it off in celebration, man. Oh, he definitely threw it off. I mean, that would have been a bullshit penalty anyways. It wouldn't have mattered. There was still Ben Eagle's ball.
00:53:51
Speaker
Oh, yeah, because it's after the play. I think he did take it off. I think he definitely took it off. It should have been a 15 yard penalty, but it would have been nothing would have mattered at that point. I don't even necessarily if we're really getting into the principle of it, I don't really think that should even be a penalty man. I think if you make a play big enough to do it, just do it. That seems like I don't know why that was even a thing that you're not allowed to take your helmet off to celebrate. But but yeah, he definitely took it off right there. That Eagles dodged one. All right, dude, you're getting a week three picks. Let's do it.
00:54:34
Speaker
Yeah All right, tell the blisters how we did I know it was a brutal week for us on on pics Yeah, I hope you guys didn't follow us on pics this week because this was not a good one We both went eight and seven and we both have the eagles tonight. So it's gonna be a tie for week two. I
00:54:53
Speaker
All right, that's cool. I was like, dude, the first like the first line of our picks, I'm just going to read off both of our picks for the first line, because that's where it looks. It's really ugly. So I had Miami loss. Baltimore lost. Cleveland win. Jets win. San Francisco lost. Chargers win. Seattle win. Dallas lost. You had Miami lost. Baltimore lost. Jacksonville lost.
00:55:19
Speaker
or Jets win, San Francisco lost, Chargers win, Seattle win, and Dallas lost. Like, dude, we did not. This was bad. This was a really bad week. I'm putting it on the NFL. I think we're a pretty good group of prognosticators. I think this was just a funky-ass week of football, man.
00:55:36
Speaker
Some tricky games this week, dude, is I'm kind of glancing. I really, I've not pre-staged my picks at all, man. I was really busy at work, came back home playing with the kids and stuff up until the showtime. So I'm kind of going in raw on these, man. And my opening glance is I'm like, geez, dude. Starting off Thursday night at football, man, we got the Patriots who have looked damn tough first two weeks. You know, they went in week one, they almost steal it in week two, and they got the Jets who have looked a little suspect coming to town. I mean, Titans probably should have beat them yesterday, dude,
00:56:03
Speaker
I feel like Will Lewis is actually putting money against the Titans in these games at this point with some of these mistakes he's making. Dude, my heart really, really wants to pick the Patriots. I think they come up just short, dude. I think this is one of those games where I think afterwards, I think we're feeling better about the Patriots than we are about the Jets, but it's still enough for the Jets to get the win, man.
00:56:22
Speaker
I just think the Jets have to have an impressive win at some point. Like Rogers is getting his feet under him and I just feel like at some point we're going to see the Jets have an impressive win. I'm going to say it's this week. I think the Jets. I think they win by 10 plus. Honestly, I just think the Jets are a better team and they'll show it this weekend.
00:56:43
Speaker
I think the Patriots been overachieving a little bit a little. I think that bangles game was just a complete fluke and the bangles just came out with a shitty game plan. Chase had no in game reps at all. Like it just, I think everything that could have possibly went bad for the, um, bangles week one went bad and everything went right for the Patriots.
00:57:04
Speaker
I don't know how long Seahawks the OT yesterday. I just, I don't know how long you wait to play Drake may either is the problem. Like they need to play him sooner than later. I think.
00:57:15
Speaker
Yeah, we may have, we may have underestimated our old Gerard Mayo, man. I kind of feel like he was just like a placeholder, like throw away replacement for Belichick, dude. He may be on to something there though. I think I've liked what I've seen from them, man, the first two weeks. I agree. Another tricky one, man. West Coast team heading in to the East Coast for a noon kickoff. You got the Chargers and the Steelers.
00:57:35
Speaker
If Herbert was 100%, I'd feel much more conflicted about this one. But we're not 100% sure if he's even playing. He's definitely not going to be 100%. And that Steelers defense is looking nasty, dude. And somehow, some way, man, the Justin Fields led Steelers. I think they're going to be 3-0 after three weeks of football.
00:57:53
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. And I, I'm going to be honest, dude, I didn't even come away overly impressed through two weeks of the Chargers either. Like they played the helpless Panthers yesterday. And then the week one, they played Vegas who just did not look like they knew what they were doing. So I'm not like super impressed with the Chargers 2-0 start either. And yeah, I agree. Pittsburgh's defense is elite and they'll show it again on Sunday.
00:58:17
Speaker
Dude, you know, the Bengals are off to a slow start, Ravens slow start, the Browns are the Browns. I think there's a good chance the Steelers end up winning this division. Dude, that's a place I would absolutely hate to go in and play a playoff game in January. You know, the Steelers faithful is one of the best fan bases in the league. They're going to be going nuts. That defense just breaking your freaking jaw in that January cold. And then you got a quarterback like Justin Fields who
00:58:42
Speaker
you know, obviously he's, you know, he's not Tom Brady, he's not Peyton Manning, but he's somebody that's going to put you off balance, right? You got to kind of change up your game plan for what you normally do week to week. And I think they could be a real problem. I don't think they're going to go to the Super Bowl, but I think they're going to definitely be, you know, they're going to be a problem in January, I think.
00:58:59
Speaker
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting, man. It's gonna be really, really interesting. Yeah. I think Russell Wilson's firmly in the backup spot, dude. I don't think he's getting his job back. No, he's definitely not getting his job back. He's beyond cooked. If they can coach the big killer mistakes that are Justin Fields, I think he'll be fine. He's not doing a whole lot right now, but he's also not making any of the big mistakes that he's been known for, man.
00:59:23
Speaker
Yeah, I've liked what I've seen from the Steelers so far. Battle of 2-0 teams, one we expected, one we didn't expect. The Texans heading up to Minnesota to play the Vikings. God, dude. I just, I still feel like Houston is the better team. Is Minnesota really this good is the thing?
00:59:45
Speaker
Yeah, they beat the Niners this week. Debo got hurt in that game. McCaffrey didn't play. I don't want to just sound like I'm ripping on the Vikings here, but I just, I don't know, man. I just, I don't, I don't not buy them as like a legit contender. I think eventually it'll wear off, but I think Houston actually is really good.
01:00:05
Speaker
To me man, I do think I think we underestimated Sam Darnold we did dudes playing really well I think the Vikings still had you know a pretty solid roster a Pretty solid roster to go around him indeed. I think I remember Sam Darnold. He's playing for a big paycheck, dude I don't think short of winning the MVP and taking the Vikings to the conference championship. I don't think there's any way that I
01:00:27
Speaker
they roll into 2025 with him as their starter instead of JJ McCarthy. And so to me, Darnold has got to be one of the most motivated players in the league. He's seeing these contracts starting quarterbacks are getting, and if he can put together a, you know, a pro bowl level year, he's going to be lining himself up for a big, big check this offseason.
01:00:44
Speaker
So I think you're gonna continue to see Donald ball out. He's a dude who never really got a fair shot the first couple stints, you know, getting drafted by the Jets and going down to the Panthers. I think that year being in the, you know, just in the 49ers ecosystem helped him out a lot. And I think he's going to have a solid season. All that being said, I do think we see the Vikings start to kind of, you know, regress back to the middle of the pack as the season goes on.
01:01:06
Speaker
And I'm always happy to admit when I was wrong, dude. I think you were right. I was wrong. I think the Texans are legit, man. They've looked really tough. They won two close games, you know, a big Sunday night game with a ton of pressure. They're home. They're most anticipated home opener they've had in years. And then they won against, you know, a fired up Colts team in week one on the road. I think this team is tough. I really like what I've seen so far. And I think they're legit. And I think they're going to go in Minnesota and get the win and go to 3-0.
01:01:31
Speaker
dude, the Texans are going to be, it's really tough out in the playoffs this year that they're, you can tell they're learning on the fly and they're getting better. It just, their defense is a closer dude. Like you feel, it feels like their defense is like they relish getting in there with a chance to, you know, put the game away. Yeah.
01:01:49
Speaker
All right, another, we'll see if this ends up being about the Unbeatens, man. The Eagles heading down to the Saints, dude. The Saints most unlikely 2-0 team. Is this where it ends or do we see the Saints put one more beat down on another team?
01:02:04
Speaker
Dude, there is nothing I've seen tonight from the Eagles that make me feel like this team is as good as I thought they were going to be like the Falcons, whatever. They're just, I mean, the fact that they're still in this game with cousins as their quarterback tells me all I need to see about this Eagles team. I think the saints end up going three and oh man. It's in New Orleans. They're going to be fired up off that win against the Cowboys.
01:02:34
Speaker
Yeah, screw it, man. Why not? Saints go to 3-0. Let's do it. All right. Another one. This one's got to hurt for you to pick also, dude. 0-1-2, Broncos, which Bo and Nix. Bo Nix, obviously, you know, there's always going to be struggles with the rookie quarterback. He could totally overcome this, but he's looked pretty dang bad the first two weeks. Heading in to face the undefeated Bucks, coming off the big win against the Lions. I think the Bucks cruise to 3-0. Yeah.
01:03:01
Speaker
This is, the bottom of the NFL is as bad as it's ever been to me. It's just, it's really bad right now. So yeah, I think the Bucks win this game pretty easily.
01:03:12
Speaker
All right, we got the Malik Willis bowl, dude. Somehow Malik Willis leads the Packers to the victory last week against the Colts, man. I believe that was Malik Willis' first ever NFL touchdown pass. He threw that game. Coming against the team that ditched him, setting it 0-2, and the guy they dumped him for has not looked great. Well, Levis, he's made some plays that dazzle. Dude, make you say, yeah, this is my quarterback. And then he's also made some of the worst mistakes I've seen.
01:03:38
Speaker
NFL QB make man. I do think the Titans are gonna be in desperation mode I don't think they go to own three against Malik Willis I would not be surprised one bit if Packers walked in here and got the win But I think the Titans are gonna get it done. You're going to this game, too, right? I don't think so, man. I think we're gonna I don't think it's gonna work out damn, man Dude I I Just think will Lewis is
01:04:05
Speaker
I don't think he's the dude. I think green Bay wins this game. Like I think green Bay's defense is going to stifle. We'll love us. And dude, he just keeps making the fucking bad play, man. He just, he's not making it to morning plays. Like it's just, Oh, God damn it, dude. That was a smart play from the Falcons and they declined it.
01:04:28
Speaker
That was actually smart jumping offsides. They did it on purpose too. Yeah. Yeah. Try to, try to save the time out and we'll give them three plays. Yeah. I'm going green Bay. I just, I think we'll love us is just going to continue to kill this team. Unfortunately, I do not think he's the guy. Ouch. All right. Is that the first game we differed on? Yep. Oh, you got the first day. This game's over.
01:04:57
Speaker
So what best case scenario, so we got, no, Eagles just got a first down. Falcons had to burn a timeout. So I think best case scenario right now, the Falcons are going to get the ball back down six with like 30 seconds left. No, because they could, they could stop it. They could, the Eagles want to be able to run one play down because they can call time out on the first and second down. Yeah, this is not good. They're going to get the first down. This game's cooked.
01:05:22
Speaker
All right.

Game Analysis and Predictions

01:05:23
Speaker
God damn, dude. The team just cannot get out of their own fucking way. As the temperature is rising in Omaha, Nebraska. Let's keep pushing through the week three slate, man. We got the O and two giants heading to the one and one Browns. I hate to say it, but I think the pervert gets to two and one. Cleveland is not losing to the to the Giants. Like their defense is going to absolutely murder Daniel Jones this weekend. I obviously feel bad for Daniel Jones.
01:05:48
Speaker
Here's another tough one, dude. The 1-1 Bears heading into Indy to face the 0-2 Colts. The Colts have looked horrible, dude. Anthony Richardson has looked very, very bad so far. Caleb Williams hasn't looked great either, but the Bears defense has been solid.
01:06:03
Speaker
Dude, I don't know about this one dude Colts are a two-point favorite going in man. What I'm gonna let you pick this one. Wow That team has looked like shit through two weeks. Like thanks. Oh, Chicago, dude I don't think the you know, they got the win against the Titans with less 150 yards offense No touchdowns dude, like Caleb Williams hasn't thrown a touchdown pass man in the first two games But like that's the thing
01:06:26
Speaker
This is the best defense that Richardson is going to have played so far. Like I think the Bears are going to make him look like shit. I'm not saying Caleb Williams is going to look good, but I just think the Bears defense is going to make Richardson look clueless. And I think he's going to own three.
01:06:41
Speaker
For me, man, when teams are kind of evenly matched on paper, dude, I always look at it, which seems more desperate. And I think the Colts are going to be in total desperation mode because 0 and 3 with two of those losses coming at home, that's brutal. So I'm saying the, I'm saying Colts get the win. Dude, you've picked the Colts three weeks in a row, dude. You might be a Colts fan.
01:07:01
Speaker
Eventually, they got to be right, dude. I mean, I felt justified on all three weeks. The one week one, that was a bit of a hot take. That wasn't terrible. They were going to extinguish the Texans. But yeah, I felt pretty confident last week that they were going to beat the pack. Yeah. If they lose this week, then yeah. And the thing about it is, dude, I was lower on the Colts when we were doing our preseason previews, man. You thought they were going to be a playoff contender. I said they were going to be shit this year, but here I am picking them the first three weeks, man. I shouldn't have just stuck with my...
01:07:26
Speaker
I should have picked all these games back in June, dude. That's really, that's really when I should have done it. Stuck with what it is. Terrifying to watch like Anthony Richardson throw short passes because he has zero accuracy at all. Like his D ball is probably one of the best D balls in the NFL, but he has zero accuracy on anything under 15 yards. And
01:07:46
Speaker
It's been really evident the first two weeks. Like that was an all time bad game against Green Bay. I mean, Jesus Christ, Malik Willis had 25 yards passing at halftime and they never trailed in that game. Like that's, that was a really bad look for the Colts.
01:08:02
Speaker
Yeah, it was horrible, man. Let's go to the Panthers and the Raiders nominee for the toilet bowl for this week in Las Vegas. But hey, we got Andy Dalton coming in, dude. We didn't. I'm the Raiders. I'm a little bit. I forgot to even mention that it's just irrelevant at this point. If I'm the Raiders, I'm a little bit pissed that you guys chose this week to bench Bryce Young, man.
01:08:28
Speaker
Dude, I think Carolina is going to play fired up in this game. I still don't think they're good, but I still don't think the Raiders are good either is the problem. I want to pick them, dude. Especially, I feel like the Raiders are deep. Yeah, fuck it. I'm going Panthers, man. I'm rolling with a red rifle, dude. I think the Raiders are going to be flying way too high. That win against the Ravens is one of the biggest wins they've had in a couple of years, man. Yeah, I think the Panthers catch them slipping, dude.
01:08:54
Speaker
Part of my thing for saying Carolina was the worst team in the league was Bryce Young. I'm not saying Dalton is great, but dude, he's competent. They just needed anything other than Bryce Young to be their quarterback at this point.
01:09:07
Speaker
God, do this. In defense of Bryce Young, man, as bad as he's been, I do think he's been dealt one of the worst hands of anybody, any rookie QB coming in as far as the talent and the coach overall situation put around him. So it definitely felt like he was going to be ruined if they kept trotting him out there a few more weeks, man. I think they just need to shut him down and see where they're at in a month or something.
01:09:33
Speaker
Dude, this is wild, but I think we're both going Panthers. I just, I still don't think the Raiders are that good, dude. I think, dude, I think going from somebody who is just lost and doesn't have a chance to somebody who's seen everything NFL defense could throw at you and is competent, man. I think that's going to be a dramatic upgrade for them at the QB position. And like you said, dude, they're going to be playing more fired up.
01:09:57
Speaker
Yeah, dude, I think the Panthers get it done. This is in Carolina too, right? No, it's in Vegas, dude. If it was in Carolina, I'd be confident. But I mean, dude, do the Raiders really have a home field advantage? No, they don't. But there aren't going to be any Panthers fans there either. They don't even have fans.
01:10:14
Speaker
Yeah, I but I don't think it's going to be like, you know, they're not going into what they what they used to call their crowd in Oakland, the Black Sea or whatever black hole. Yeah, the black hole. Yeah, I don't think they're not going into the black hole, man. It's cushy Vegas, dude. Another another team that lost their home field advantage when they upgraded their stadium. You got the Eagles third and three. How did they not call delay game on that, dude? They took the time out well after it was at zero.
01:10:43
Speaker
There's no way they're giving them that timeout, dude. It was well at zero before the refs turned. What's Siriano yelling about? I think he thought they were about to throw the penalty. Jesus, are you serious? It may have been when we were here and you told the ref, hey, we're gonna call timeout at one second. The ref was just slow to blow the whistle. Okay, carry on.
01:11:14
Speaker
All right, one and one dolphins going into Seattle. Seattle has been far from impressive, dude, but here they are, man. Gino finding a way to get it done. And they're catching the dolphins at a good time, dude. I cannot imagine the dolphins are going to have a very spirited effort rolling with a backup QB on the absolute longest possible trip in the NFL, heading from Miami up to Seattle. I think the Seahawks are going to be an unlikely 3-0 and setting atop the NFC West. Oh.
01:11:40
Speaker
Oh my god, there's no way that just happened. Wow. All right, Kurt. This is what we paid you $200 million for, dude. That's just a flat out drop, dude. That's... Let's see what happened. Oh yeah, it just hit him right in the hands. Yep.
01:12:01
Speaker
And now the clock has stopped. They're going to get the ball with like 135. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, dude. That was huge, man. I don't know why the Eagles didn't just run it up the middle, dude. Put Kurt Cousins where he has to get a touchdown with a minute and no timeouts, man. You can pretty much go and bank it, dude. I have no faith in Kurt Cousins getting a touchdown. You will miss this kick. I have no faith in Cousins scoring a touchdown. I'm going to get my hopes up here.
01:12:30
Speaker
Uh, yeah, I'm with you on the dolphin, Seattle game, Seattle. This is a bad spot for the dolphins. I'm going Seattle. So we're, it's been a long one tonight. Cause obviously we've been, we've been going down some, uh, some side roads and we've had a lot of talk on the Monday night game for those that are still with us 72 minutes into the pod. I bet you guys are in for a treat. We're going to get to hear Jordan live on the air in a Falcons two minute drill here. But here's the positive thing though. I've already accepted defeat. Like I,
01:12:57
Speaker
No, no, no. We've heard the negative self-talk. We're not buying that for a second, dude. I know that little Falcons fan in your heart is still holding out hope for a touchdown here. Here comes a quick foreign out from Kirk Cousins. Probably take a sack on him first down. They'll burn 30 seconds off the clock. Then they'll throw a three-yard dump to Bijon. Then they'll be at 30 seconds. They won't even get to the 40-yard line before they're out there. How does it end, dude? Are we into a touchdown, sack, incompletion, or pick? I'm saying pick.
01:13:26
Speaker
I'm saying sack fumble, dude. I'm calling sack fumble to end the game. Jordan's calling fake. We're both thinking it's going to be a turnover. So we're betting on disaster here. We'll see how we how we do. All right, let's get to our next game while we're getting set up.
01:13:42
Speaker
The, um, why is this happening? We got the raid, we just did, yeah, the Ravens, oh, one, two Ravens heading into Dallas. So the Ravens, I feel like week one, that was just straight up wash, right? Like, Hey, the, uh,
01:13:59
Speaker
You know the We caught the Chiefs on season openers, whatever dude We gave him everything they could handle but then to go out and lose to the Raiders at home And now you're heading to Dallas who just got freaking wrecked by the Saints man. This is gonna be an interesting one Okay, Kirk I'm going Ravens man. I don't I think I don't think the Ravens can get that one three. I
01:14:27
Speaker
They're all offensive. Their offensive line is just so fucking bad though is the problem, man. Don't say anything. Don't say anything. I'm behind you. Don't ruin this game for me. All right. You got to do commentary then dude. If you're behind, you got to hit us with your thoughts, dude. Give us just a stream of consciousness as you're watching this all the way out. Okay. We're on the 38.
01:15:01
Speaker
Oh my god, go! I'm loving this because I'm seeing this about a second and a half before you do. Here comes the back breaking interception. Oh my god, dude, there's no way. Are you still sitting down or are you pacing around with the headset on now? No, I'm just fucking waiting for a disaster.
01:15:27
Speaker
How the fuck did they let him get out of bounds, too? Like, Jesus, dude, this is like... Well, this is where the Falcons always struggle, though. Red zone woes. This is where they always fucking shit. Going back to the Matt Ryan era, dude. If we needed a last-second field goal to win it, we were money, dude. Seems like it was always dicey as hell on getting a last-second touchdown, though. Didn't hate that play, but the cholesterol you get to the ends on the harder it is to fucking run plays. Jesus Christ, dude, what are we doing?
01:16:01
Speaker
We're at 43 seconds left. No timeouts. Time's really not going to be a factor at this point. Why don't you take a sec? Oh, how did they not that one lag on that dude? He got mugged. Ray Ray McLeod got straight up mugged, man.
01:16:25
Speaker
He shouldn't have punched that dude in the first half, man. That cost him all the benefit of the doubt with the rest. Or maybe he shouldn't have worn an Eagles jersey to the game either. That should have been passing your parents. What jersey did he wear? Randall Cunningham. At least it's a good one. Don't say anything. Third and five, 38 seconds left. I'm going silent. Let's go!
01:16:57
Speaker
Oh my goodness, dude. Are you just, do you have tears streaming down your face? No, but here is the problem. There's still 34 seconds left and all they need hold on. Let's not fucking get too far. That was an impressive goddamn Darius. Like I cooked.
01:17:14
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I mean, on those routes like that, though, you kind of got to just gamble, dude. You got to just pick, you know, just guess, is he going in or out? That was the best throw cousins had all night. That was the first time he was on time. Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins was dealing that last drive, dude. It's looked ugly, man. You can't be shooting a gun, dude. Oh, come on, man. Why everybody shoots guns now?
01:17:39
Speaker
I mean, they're going to take this on the extra point because obviously, Jesus, dude, he's got to kick like a 55 yard extra point now. Oh, my God, dude, come on, man. I mean, dude, like what? Don't I get it? Don't fucking say anything about whatever happens. I'm not.
01:18:08
Speaker
It's a dumb penalty, but also like it's a dumb celebration too. So they took it on the kickoff because that was not any further back. So Jesus Christ, dude. So they're going to have to kick it from their own 20. Oh my God. This is not good, dude. Kicking it from your own 20. Eagles got two timeouts and all they need is a field goal. Fuck.
01:18:39
Speaker
Ray Morse brought up about CJ. Yeah, I saw that. I mean, that was weak, dude. Like I said, dumb ass celebration, but honestly, to me, dude, the fact that they still throw penalties on the celebrations is dumb, dude. If we're going to be open and allow celebrations now, just fucking allow them, dude.
01:19:12
Speaker
Jama ramp somewhere smiling at that celebration. So your butthole just at like pucker factor 15 now. So where did they take the penalty at?
01:19:28
Speaker
I don't know how it works with the new kickoff, Stade. No, you get moved back 15 yards, so the extra point wasn't any longer, right? No, I thought they take on the extra point, because it's the extra point from the 15 now that he kicked that extra point from the 30. Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay. I thought they were kicking off from the 20. I wasn't even paying attention to where he kicked that from. Holy shit, dude. This is not good.
01:19:55
Speaker
Two timeouts. And they need 30 yards. At least AJ Brown's out, dude. What if AJ Brown came trotting in from the sidelines right now, fully suited? Just covered Devontae Smith. He's got one-on-one coverage. This is already genius. Way too much fucking time, dude. Damn, they burned a timeout on that.
01:20:31
Speaker
Goddard's gonna fuck you, man. Remember you were supposed to pick him up for fantasy this week? I wasn't supposed to pick him up. He's on my bench. Oh, yeah, that's right. Who'd you pick Ravens Cowboys? You pick Ravens? I picked Ravens, dude. I'm going Ravens as well.
01:20:46
Speaker
Dude, this is going to be a sneaky, good game, man. Detroit and Cardinals in Arizona, dude. I think Cardinals get the win, man. Arizona is damn impressive. They almost beat the Bills, who I think are way better than we were expecting. And then they looked amazing against the Rams on Sunday, dude. I think the Cards get the win, and we see the Lions deal with a little bit of turmoil to start the season. All right, Eagles coming up to the line. 27 seconds left, first and 10, one timeout left.
01:21:23
Speaker
Let's fucking go! That's a huge win for the Falcons, dude. They needed that, dude. The Falcons get the interception and Jalen hurts. Kirk Cousins needed that just as much as anybody. Bro, that's why you pay him, dude. That was a silence the haters drive right now, dude.
01:21:50
Speaker
What a freaking game, man. The Falcons coming back. How much fun was this, dude? I mean, my blood pressure is at, like, fucking 190 over, like, 180 right now.
01:22:05
Speaker
Let's go, dude. That was fun, man. All right. This is the best podcast you guys are ever going to get, just so we're absolutely clear. If this is not an enjoyable podcast to listen to, I don't know what ever will be. Who's your pick for Lions and Cardinals, dude? I'm going to go Lions. All right.
01:22:28
Speaker
We'll go speed around on the resties cuz we're running heavy right now dude Rams and Niners Rams are banged up man, but so are the I mean season Niners are banged up. So are the Rams I think the Niners do enough to get the win and go to two-in-one Say the game again, sorry, dude. My brain is moving way too fast. No, I got you, dude Yeah, I know your brains gotta be just melting right now dude the Niners and Rams in LA
01:22:53
Speaker
dude, not having Deebo or McCaffrey as a fucking prop. We didn't talk about it either. And I should have fucking been texting you Brock pretty looked like dog shit in that game against Minnesota. He was throwing some bad fucking picks in that game. No, bro. Hold up a second, dude. What I think he had to understand. Let me pull up Brock. So I thought Brock played fine. I think I think he's the least of their issues, dude.
01:23:16
Speaker
He threw, he threw one, he threw, he was 28 for 36. We completed 80% of his pass. Maybe I just saw the one pick that he threw inside the red zone and I was like, Jesus Christ. Yeah, he did, he did have a bad mistake, whatever he did. He was, Rock Party stat lane today was 28 for 36, 319 yards, one touchdown, one pick, man. Like that's,
01:23:36
Speaker
That's pretty dang good, man. I'm going San Francisco, dude. Everything we said about the Rams last Monday night, good God, man. That fucking... The injury's piling up, dude. The injury's piling up quick. They don't got the depth they've had in years past, man. And now the cup is out too, so yeah. Yeah, that cup was running bare. Stafford's already banged up, man. Like, you can't tell me Stafford's 100%. Yeah, so I think... I'm going to Anderson Lane.
01:24:01
Speaker
All right. Uh, we got two games left to go. It's the perfect, this is the best time to be asking for this. What did the resurgent Falcons one and one get the chiefs coming to town on Sunday night football? No, we're not even going to humor this dude. Like if they beat the chiefs, I will fucking eat this, but there is zero chance of beating the chiefs.
01:24:22
Speaker
They have no home field advantage. That's the biggest fucking problem. Like we talked about it last week. Just cheese fans are just going to absolutely take over that place. So yeah, I'm going. They killed it. Their home field advantage died when they demolished the, uh, the Georgia. Don't remember one of the best in the league to having a non-existent home field advantage.
01:24:39
Speaker
And then we got the double header on Monday night. I'm guessing you're taking the Chiefs too. Oh, yeah. Yeah. If I didn't explicitly say, yeah, Chiefs. Double header on Monday night. Jags and Bills. Dude, we may see Doug Pearson get fired. I've been super impressed with the Bills so far this year. And I think they wreck this team on Monday night. Dude, the Jaguars are not good. And Lawrence looks really bad. Yeah, I think Buffalo kills him. I think you're right.
01:25:07
Speaker
And then the last game, we got the Bengals. 0-2 Bengals looking for their first win. Got the Commanders coming to town. The Commanders barely eked out a win against the half-less Giants. How is there a game after the Buffalo game? Is there two Monday night games? They're at the same time. So the Jags and Bills start at 6.30 and the Bengals and Commanders start at 7.15.
01:25:24
Speaker
We needed two Monday night games and that's the second Monday night game we're getting so I think the logic on Monday night football has always been like dude just Throw up some ass games because people will watch it no matter what if it's the only NFL game on people are guaranteed to watch You know, I mean it's still gonna what why burnt why smoke one of those good Sunday games? On

Gambling and Fantasy Reflections

01:25:44
Speaker
Monday night when you know people are watching it could be it could be the freakin, you know the Jags and then in the freaking You know the the Rams did people are still gonna tune in and drove to watch it
01:25:55
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going bangles on this obviously. All right, that's it for our picks. Let's get to million dollar bets.
01:26:16
Speaker
All right, last week was a bloodbath. I hope nobody was actually taking our advice. The week one was pretty solid. Last week was a bloodbath, so I really hope nobody's putting real money on these bets we're laying out because this is just, you know, make believe for us. But I lost, we each lost 50,000. I lost 15,000 off betting that Jalen Waldo and Tyree Kill ended up 230 yards.
01:26:37
Speaker
What did they have like 23 yards? Dude, I need to do the math on it. I don't think they had 230 feet, dude, much less yards. I'm pretty sure they didn't have 230 feet between them. Yeah, so obviously that went up in smoke pretty quick. And then I had the five team parlay, which I thought was a lock.
01:26:57
Speaker
three of the five teams I paid, these were just straight up money line too. I was winning against Sprint and three of the five teams in my parlay lost, dude. So I had Houston and Washington won, Eagles, Cowboys, and Jaguars all three lost, man. So that was a hell of a parlay I set up for you guys. Yeah, that really cooked up the old five team or maybe we should concentrate on more likely bets like two or three teams. When you were cooking that thing up and you're like, the only game I'm even remotely worrying about. And I'm like, I don't know about that, bud.
01:27:27
Speaker
Jacksonville was the only one I was sketched out on, dude. Looking back to me last week, I still think that's a solid bet, dude, but that's why it's gambling, dude. Jordan didn't do much better. He lost $20,000 on a Colts, Rams, Browns parlay, which obviously we know the Colts and Rams both laid an egg, and then he had the Ravens... I can't remember, was that against the spread or straight out? That was against the spread.
01:27:51
Speaker
Yeah, Ravens against the spread, and that one went up and smoked too. But Jordan was so successful with that big touchdown parlay he had week one. He is still beating me by $310,000. But again, it's a marathon. It's not a sprint. I am going to catch his ass before the season's up. So I know you're still coming down off that dopamine hit from that Falcons comeback. I don't even know. I don't even know what we're talking about anymore at this point.
01:28:15
Speaker
So I got a three team money line parlay, which I already picked against myself on one of these picks, man. So I got the good hedge anyway. So I'm either gonna be right on picks or I'm gonna be right on my bets. Three team, I'm taking the bucks over the Broncos straight up, the Raiders over the Panthers straight up, and the Steelers over the Chargers. That is going to be a $25,000 bet. And if I win, it will pay out $84,522. Nice.
01:28:44
Speaker
Uh, my first one is also a three pick parlay. I'm just going to go all Thursday night game. I'm going to go breeze hall as an anytime touchdown scorer, the jets minus six and a half and breeze hall to get over a hundred. Uh, plus rushing and receiving yards combined, uh, putting 20,000 on that and that'll pay $67,200 if it hits.
01:29:05
Speaker
All right, let's go. And then my last pick, I am taking the Titans to get the first one against the Packers. They have two picks. I'm picking the Titans covering the two and a half point spread. And I think this game is going to be bowling shoe ugly. I've taken the under thirty six and a half points. So those two together. Twenty five thousand dollar bet pays out eighty seven thousand if I win.
01:29:28
Speaker
Okay. I'm going to go for my second one. I'm going to do lions minus two and a half at Arizona. I'm going bills mass five and a half at home against the Jaguars. And I'm going Seahawks at home against the dolphins minus five, uh, putting 10,000 on that. And that will pay $66,760.
01:29:46
Speaker
All right, we'll get those tallied up. Let's hit some listener mail, man. So first question from our good buddy James Mosley. He says, question for the goal line game. Do you still think Derek Carr sucks 443 yards in the last two games and the offense has put up 91 points? You can't just say it's Alvin Kamara. Also, for goodness sake, please stop playing perfect timing. The Miami Hurricanes are going to win it all.
01:30:08
Speaker
I still think Carr sucks, dude. I mean, I think Carr is what he is. Carr has never outright sucked. I think he's at the bottom end of mediocre quarterbacks, man.
01:30:19
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, if only there was a previous 10 years of, uh, Kirk car plant, Derek car playing that we could, we could base our, uh, decision-making off of, has he started off well this season? Yeah, but it's only a matter of time. Like I'm not giving Derek any props until it, this is like week eight and he's still doing this.
01:30:40
Speaker
Dude, they're showing the highlights of the game, dude. In hindsight, how brutal is that drop by Saquon Barkley, man? Oh, yeah. I mean, literally lost him the game. I mean, they wouldn't be in this position if they didn't have him in the first place, but still, dude. Like, he's your big free agent signing. He straight up cost them this game, man. Yeah.
01:30:58
Speaker
All right. To the Victor goes spoils. Let's hit some more listener mail, man. Everybody, Sam Rosenthal says, where are the star players so far, dude? I mean, Justin Jefferson, I feel like he's delivered, you know, AJ Brown looked really good game one.

Season Struggles and Hopes for Improvement

01:31:16
Speaker
So to Tyree Hill, I don't think there's anybody that I don't think any of the big hype guys have really delivered across both of the first two weeks of the season, though, like, like folks were hoping.
01:31:25
Speaker
Yeah, dude, we were, I was talking about this with a buddy of mine today. The top 10 picks are really floundering right now. Like top 10 picks and fantasy are not playing well at all. I mean, yeah, Tyreek had the first game, but second game was obviously a wash CDs been average through two weeks.
01:31:43
Speaker
Uh, uh, McCaffrey hasn't played at all. Bijon looked really good tonight. I will say that. And, uh, Bree sauce played really well as well. So it's not a complete bust, but yeah, again, I feel like the first two weeks ever becoming pre-season at this point now.
01:32:00
Speaker
All right, question from our buddy Zach Hertzer. He says, which team has been a complete bust so far? Quite a few busts so far. Let's say, who's your biggest bust so far through two weeks, Jordan? By far the Ravens. There's no way that team should be on, too.
01:32:15
Speaker
Yeah, I think for a team that's definitely, you know, in a Super Bowl season, I think them, and I'll throw the Colts in there also, man, as a team that was getting a lot of, had some really high expectations and it's just not looked good. I felt, to me, the Ravens, as bad as the Olin's been, I still feel like they're a few tweaks away from, you know, getting back on track, because they could easily be 2-0 right now, but the Colts have been horrid across these first two weeks. Yeah. All right, John Swallow says, what playoff team from last year is in trouble and will not make the playoffs this year?
01:32:47
Speaker
Ravens on two. I don't know if I think the Ravens are in trouble though. I mean, do they just, they put the stat on the screen right before that Falcons drive 18 of 21 teams in the last three years that have started. Oh, and two have not made the playoffs. So three teams in the last three years after starting on two have made the playoffs. And I think the bangles are one of them. So yeah, it's,
01:33:08
Speaker
I don't think I wouldn't go full on panic for the Ravens now. I've, to me, dude, I think the no brainer choice is Miami now without Tua. Like I just, I feel like that team's going to be a complete bust without him at this point. Yeah. I think Miami and then the Rams is a close runner up. Just like I said, the injuries are just really piling up for a team that wasn't super deep to begin with. Uh, so I, I think both of those are, you know,
01:33:32
Speaker
You may want to go and call them a lock, dude, to not make the playoffs, dude. I'd probably feel a little bit shakier about the Rams because they could always end up putting together a streak. And I think the NFC is not quite as deep as the AFC, but yeah, the Dolphins. Yeesh. They're in trouble. All right. This question goes out to Mr. Wells. I just need to know, who is that team that will defeat the Saints? I really hope you guys win next week because then come into Atlanta week four and we'll find out.
01:33:59
Speaker
Falcons ain't losing the Saints. Fuck that team. I don't care how good they are. They're coming into Atlanta to get that ass whooped. All right, Jordan, you spoke a little bit on this one earlier, so I'm going to let you take it, dude. This is from our friend Johnny JB. He says, the Patriots lost a close one to Seattle. Do you think they should keep Jacoby Brissett as a starter or give the rookie Drake May a shot next week?
01:34:19
Speaker
This is my thing about a team. Like they're already overachieving. This team's not winning a Super Bowl this year. I think everyone can agree on that. See what you got in the young kid. Jacobi Borsett is not your future, dude. You at least got to see what you got in Drake May. Their offensive line is playing better than what I think. That was the main reason I don't think they wanted to start Drake May because they just didn't want him to get hurt, which completely understand that's going to be your franchise quarterback. I get it. They've looked pretty decent so far. Yeah.
01:34:46
Speaker
Dude, I just think you gotta play Drake May just to see what you got. I mean
01:34:51
Speaker
Let's be honest. Let's look at the rookie quarterback so far. It's not a real solid scope so far. I mean, nobody has looked overly great. Jayden Daniels has played pretty well, but I mean, even him like just dude, you got to get those guys reps, man. They need reps. They're on bad teams. That's why they're getting drafted high. They're on bad teams and they just need as many reps as possible. So I think it's foolish the longer this preset thing goes on.
01:35:18
Speaker
All right, Brian Vermeer, he had two questions. He said, which team will fall back to their expectations and which team will rise to meet their expectations? And we kind of pretty much, that's really kind of been the theme of this episode. We threaded that conversation throughout. And then he's a big Chicago fan. He says, do you think the Bears defense is top five after another stellar performance, man? I think they're solid. I don't know if I put them, I didn't really put pen to paper to sketch out exactly where we're at. In my mind is gut reaction. I think they're more like top 10 ish than a top five defense.
01:35:48
Speaker
Hold on, I'm going to look up stat real quick. So yards allowed this year, the bears are ninth. Look at that, dude. I have a tough time saying that they're top five. They're playing really good defense. The problem is, is dude, their offense is just going to keep putting them in bad situations.
01:36:09
Speaker
I know Brian was me and Brian. I've talked a lot in the off season. I've really got to know him and good dude, but I kept telling him, I'm like rookie quarterback, Keenan Allen never can stay healthy. And dude, the biggest problem for them is their offensive line and it's already rearing its head in week two. Like half the guys in that line don't even know how to block. I just,
01:36:30
Speaker
I don't know, man, investing all they did in offense and they did not invest enough in the offensive line is just absolutely stupid to me. They just, everybody's been gushing over pace, but the offensive line is not getting better. And that's their biggest problem. And arguably that was their biggest problem when they had fields, they couldn't block for the guy. I don't know. I'm not getting good vibes. I mean, dude, I'll set a will Levis throwing away the first game. The bears could easily be 0 and 2 right now.
01:36:58
Speaker
Yeah. Based on their offense performance, they definitely should be. Will Levis gave them the first game. Will Levis and the Titan special teams, yeah, man. If it was left, if you're judging just their offense, yeah, Bears would be going to right now. So it's a credit to their defense, but usually you don't see stuff like that be able to hold off for the long haul. So you remember the Jets had a historically great defense at the start of last season, but the offense was so bad with that Aaron Rodgers that by the end of the season, their defense was shitty also, man.
01:37:26
Speaker
Yeah, I haven't loved what I've seen from the bear so far either.
01:37:30
Speaker
All right, that is a wrap. This was definitely an all-timer of an episode. It was a blast getting to watch the Falcons dig. Do you realize that last season, back in December, we were potting as the Dolphins and Titans were playing on Monday Night Football and the Titans came back from down 13 with like less than five minutes left to win, man. So yeah, we're definitely, the goal line is definitely good luck, man. Our teams need to play on Monday Night Football more often. Or maybe me and you just need to like FaceTime or something while
01:38:01
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Uh, that's a wrap, man. Jordan hit us with some closing thoughts and we'll get out of here. Yeah. Let's, let's hope for a better week of NFL this week. Let's, let's hope everybody gets back to it. Uh, hope your fancy teams all do well this week and we'll talk to you guys next week. Yeah. Yeah.
01:38:28
Speaker
Whoa. Hold on. Walk it like I talk it. Walk it like I talk it. Walk it, walk it like I talk it. Walk it like I talk it. Walk it like I talk it. Walk it like I talk it. Walk it like I talk it. Walk it, walk it like I talk it.
