Celebrating Birthdays and Family

00:00:22
Speaker
Welcome back. Hey. Howdy friends. I'm so excited because it's been a month of birthdays.
00:00:33
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Let me just say, I know it was your birthday on Sunday. And I had like two other, three other very, very significant birthdays this month. Did I ever tell you? Because I wanted to bring this up as well. Like this is something I wanted to talk about. So let me just get it out of the way really quick.
00:00:58
Speaker
um Because I have four very, very significant family members' birthdays in August. Did I tell you about the jewelry that I looked for to signify, to like represent my four loved ones' birthdays? The Pareto? Yeah, but specifically what it was. um Refresh my memory, because I remember you talking about jewelry and Pareto, but I don't remember other details.
00:01:26
Speaker
Okay, so one day I was thinking about it and I was like, oh my gosh, like I need to find something that represents my four family members who I love very much. And I was like, ooh, four heart shaped parados would be really cool. And then I thought, wait a minute, don't they make Shamrock or four leaf clover shaped jewelry with four hearts?
00:01:50
Speaker
dude, seriously, I was like, just my letting my memory kind of go, like my memory, no, letting my my imagination just kind of go. and i And I had thought of that idea of like, there's got to be a Shamrock, Pareto, there has to be jewelry, right?
00:02:09
Speaker
yeah and and i my own went ah I went on my favorite jeweler's website, and it's probably a national name. It's Helzberg Diamonds. and I like looked up Pareto Shamrocks to see, or four-leaf clovers, or whatever. and and I saw they had earrings.
00:02:30
Speaker
and a pendant of that exact thing. And I about shit my pants because I was like, that is exactly what I wanted. Like what I thought of. Yeah. And look, can you see? Wait, are you wearing them right now? I am. I don't know if you can see them or not. Not really. It's a little too far. I want to hold it up to the... You got... is it your Did you get the necklace and the earrings or just the earrings? I did, but I'm not wearing the necklace right now.
00:02:56
Speaker
Oh, it's so cute.
00:03:04
Speaker
oh And so like, i baby I just remember bringing it up to somebody, one of the four of you, to say, I found this amazing you know so pair of earrings that represents you all and and whoever it was that I said it to that was just like, oh, okay, whatever.
00:03:27
Speaker
And I was like, oh, come on, this is significant to me. I hope it wasn't me that said that. I don't remember. I don't remember who it was. Because like, I mean, I, I've never liked Pareto. Me neither. I don't like green things in general. I like dark green. I don't like pale green, like pale. I mean, like, well,
00:03:53
Speaker
I guess it depends because I've really gotten into like sage as a color. But that's kind of different from Pareto. And when I just remember having like an association, like people giving me a Pareto jewelry because it was August, the August birthstone when I was a kid and not really being into it when I was a kid, but just sort of feeling like I couldn't like, you know, feeling like I had to force enthusiasm about it. When like, I arguably think it's the ugliest of all the birthstones.
00:04:22
Speaker
No, I got it. I got it. Then, you know, not long ago I've learned that Pareto is like a fucking space rock. You know, there was something I i remember hearing. I think I know what you're talking about. That it has like pretty significant like attributes.
00:04:44
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, like I need to look refresh my memory on like the man the metaphysical attributes to it, like that it's literally from space. I don't know about that. kind of oh That's what I heard i don't remember on the podcast that we both listened to.
00:05:05
Speaker
so yeah i mean me so There was the other weird green thing that people said would change their lives if they got it and and had it. Moldavite. Yeah. Moldavite. Not the same.
00:05:20
Speaker
Right. That literally was like from a comet or something. it like Yeah. ah You know what? I feel like maybe there was an association between the two, but that they're not actually molecularly the same thing.

Book Discussions and Gift Stories

00:05:34
Speaker
Okay. No, I know they're not, but- Here we are trying to talk about things we don't understand. I know. What the hell's wrong with us? Jeez. We ain't scientists.
00:05:48
Speaker
So anyway, and we're not jewelers for Pete's sake. Anyway. Nope. So anyway. We're appreciators of science and of jewelry. That's it. I want to say I do like certain shades of green, but green is not my favorite color, generally speaking. But because Pareto is the August birthstone, it was kind of significant and important to me.
00:06:12
Speaker
to get that some nice jewelry to represent the four August babies. So yeah, so I am. So I did. So there. Sweet. So so yeah, so happy birthday, Molly. I love you.
00:06:29
Speaker
I'm a 32-year-old lady. To quote our ah lord and savior Jenna Marbles. Oh, lord and savior. I love it. Oh, queen. I miss her. Same. Yeah. But yeah, I love that she would put that in the beginning of her videos where she was just going to do whatever the fuck she wants. And you made me excited to become 32. So now I'm excited to be 32. Oh, yeah. Definitely. Not to mention just in general, it's like a nice, nice round number to me. Feels feels good energetically, it feels really good. Yeah, and it was a good it was a good start to the 32nd revolution.
00:07:14
Speaker
around the sun. Did you have a good birthday celebration? I had a really good birthday. Yeah. um Yeah. There were some challenging things. I mentioned those to you. We're not going to talk about them here. ah But for what it was, it was wonderful. Did you get any really cool birthday gifts? I got a knockoff Louis Vuitton bag.
00:07:39
Speaker
still debatable, but potentially a knock-off. It might be a knock-off. It might not be a knock-off. We're really not sure. ah Either way, it was free because it was on the curb.
00:07:53
Speaker
yeah And the fact that it brings you much joy is undebatable. And it makes me so happy that you love it like oh that much. I love it i'm happy so i am This is the thing that I feel like I have not expressed enough of because I feel like people would just look at me and be like, that's not true about you. Like, you know, no, I'm such a fucking fancy bitch. group like I love designer bags. I just can't afford designer bags.
00:08:27
Speaker
It took me 10 years to decide to buy a Michael Kors bag from fucking TJ Maxx, the cheap ones, you know, like the discount ones. I've purchased one designer bag and it is my pride and joy and I love it so much. And now I have what is a at least extremely convincing replica of a Louis Vuitton briefcase effectively. I really do think it's a briefcase based on the the handle, but it fits my work laptop perfectly and I'm in love with it. I love that. yeah
00:09:06
Speaker
I'm trying to think, I got just some really great little things. I got an amazing skull-shaped ice cube maker from Sweet Ma. Oh my god, I immediately filled that thing up with water so that I could immediately, well, as soon as possible, have a giant skull-shaped ice cube. How big are they? They're pretty big.
00:09:35
Speaker
oh I don't know what to try to grab to give a compare it like like a good like two golf ball size like two golf balls like together one testicles yeah um
00:09:50
Speaker
all righty ah one
00:09:57
Speaker
I'm seriously like, what? This is really that big though. Two golf balls? Like if like, cause it's bigger than one golf ball, but like two, if you like held two in your hand, they kind of.
00:10:10
Speaker
ah see
00:10:15
Speaker
Can you fit two in your hand Molly? Yes, I can. Oh God. oh my god oh no we're off to a great start you guys
00:10:44
Speaker
shit guess what You kicked me in the giggle dick.
00:10:54
Speaker
ah
00:10:57
Speaker
look Okay, okay. Breathe. Oh, I know my face. Are you okay? No. Oh, my face is hurting. I know mine too. Oh no. I forgot what we're laughing about.
00:11:13
Speaker
oh i even po balls
00:11:21
Speaker
thank you that got
00:11:29
Speaker
okay
00:11:37
Speaker
one I'm gonna drink some water. Do they have skull-shaped balls in it? yeah your water What? It's not so Oh my god.
00:12:03
Speaker
Oh no. My water trumpler does not currently have them in there because I use my ice dispenser.
00:12:12
Speaker
Drink some water, girl. wait Drink that water. Oh my god, I gotta drink water. Oh no.
00:12:25
Speaker
I actually needed that pretty bad. I'm so glad. I needed that laugh. I'm so glad I could give that to you. I'm so glad I could give you your skull shaped ice cubes that resemble balls or whatever. They don't resemble balls, they resemble skulls.
00:12:41
Speaker
yeah
00:12:46
Speaker
Okay, moving on. What else did I get you? Oh my god. Oh my god. You got me John Green's classic novel, Looking for Alaska. I am so excited to read that. Oh my god. Dude, I don't think I ever heard of it before, honestly. I don't know if it was his first novel, but it's like one of the first that he wrote. Hmm. And I don't know if you ever read The, I think the only one I've read of his is, um, the one that the movie was made out of. Oh, what the fuck is it called? Uh, shit. I can just picture the clouds and the, okay. Okay. Like the like iconic thing. Okay. Can can you hear me?
00:13:32
Speaker
Yeah, I can hear you. Sorry. again You can cut this out, but is it the perks of being a wallflower? That's not him.

Exploring New RPGs

00:13:39
Speaker
that's okay He didn't write that. Was it something about we are all made of stars or some kind of thing? Oh, the fault in our stars. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah That's it. Yeah, no, the perks of being a wallflower was also an amazing book and movie. Molly. The fault in our stars. the The fault in our balls. No.
00:14:02
Speaker
um Sorry. Okay. Stop. Okay. I'll stop. Okay. I think it was my, I think it was my screeching that caused my microphone to decide to have a little tantrum. All right. How's my volume still? It seems good. Okay. That's good. Is mine okay? My face is right up in front of my microphone though. Yeah. No, you're good. And I'm good. I think we're fine. Okay.
00:14:26
Speaker
Oh, all right. Well, again, hope there wasn't too much of a rough edit there. I know. I'm sorry. No, no, no. Like it's not your fault. It's technology's fault. What the hell is going on? I don't understand. Maybe we, maybe we shouldn't be screeching into the microphone. ah I'll try. Okay. So John Green. John Green. Looking for Alaska. I'm genuinely so excited to read it. It's going to be good. And You also got me an amazing shade of liquid lipstick. Oh, liquid lipstick? I thought it was a tube, like a right regular stick. I thought it was liquid. I haven't actually opened it. I don't think I added tube lipstick to my list. I think I only added liquid, but i it was a while ago that I added those things that maybe I'm remembering wrong. But regardless, it was this gorgeous dark burgundy shade, which is like like absolutely majestic.
00:15:26
Speaker
um I don't remember the name of the shade, but it's pretty. I'm excited. And the bat mat. Yay! I was excited about the bathroom mat, the bat shaped bathroom mat. It's so cute. It's so cute. That's very in front of my sink. Bat mat, bat mat. The bat mat. Yeah. And cute.
00:15:53
Speaker
And I got some hot sex. Oh, birthday sex. Fuck yeah. That's the only kind of sex to have on your birthday.
00:16:03
Speaker
I'm so happy for you. Yay. We're the birthday sex. It's always a good time. That's amazing. Yeah. No, it was a good one. Can't remember the last time I had some birthday sex. But yeah. And Tom gave me a really great, well, first of all, a really, really pretty journal that I'm going to need to take a picture of and send to you. It's just like, it's got this beautiful fabric cover. Oh my God, it's so pretty. Wow. I remember that he bought you that one leather. um Yeah, the giant one. Yeah. Yeah, that's going to be my grimoire.
00:16:45
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So he bought you a whole nother journal. Well, it's a little, it's a little one, not like, cause the, the giant one was like literally, it looks like a tome, but it's just this beautiful little journal. I don't think it's even lined pages. I think it's like fully blank pages, but like, oh, gorgeous. And an extra special, special gift that I was going to tell you about. Ooh. So.
00:17:15
Speaker
together he and I determined that I am actually really not very good at the D&D Dungeons and Dragons and he would never phrase it or he has never phrased it that way but I know that that's the case I don't know um I just, I'm the kind of person who whenever I'm playing a game, I just like to like live my little life and like do my little things and like not pay attention to like the main quest that goes for video games. That goes for any kind of game. I like, I'm, I'm the best at fucking Animal Crossing. Um,
00:17:58
Speaker
i but like, so we like had tried to play D and&D. Ooh, what is that? I'm not trying to distract you. I promise. Except for, except for UI.
00:18:11
Speaker
it's What is it? Is it just like a decoration? Yeah, it's just really lightweight plastic, but it has like a velvety cover. Yeah, like i can tell its I can tell it's velvety. um And on on my screen, it looks more blue than purple, but it's pretty. It looks purple to me, yeah. Yeah, very like grape purple. Yeah, I can see that. And it was like Michaels or something. Nice.
00:18:33
Speaker
But I bought this like last year and I bought it for Julie because she saw my purple purse. and Anyway, I'm really sorry. I wasn't trying to sidetrack you. Please tell me about the... She saw my purple purse and she got really jealous. And then I saw this and I went, oh, it looks like my purple purse. So I'm just going to give her this to set up on her like fireplace thing. and now what's in your And now it's in the basement. And she never did anything with it and it collected dust. So I took it back.
00:19:00
Speaker
fair fair enough. Sorry, Julie. I do have it. If you want it back, it's in the basement. I'll bring it to you. Okay. So Tom, Tom's like on your butt about not being a good D and&D player. No. So that's the thing. He is not at all on my butt about anything. Like he's not, he's never ever once made me feel like I'm bad at it. He just has realized it's maybe not my game um because because all that I want to do every single session is look for pub food, start a bar fight, and get laid. So, like, I mean, not too far off from, like, my real life. I didn't know that you could do those things in D&D. You could do whatever the fuck you want in D&D. Oh, my. Maybe I should check out. I mean, like, you know, within reason, but, like,
00:19:56
Speaker
Uh, he sure let me get away with a whole lot that I probably shouldn't have gotten away with. oh So then he, he got you something because you're not going to be indeed. He did, he did, uh, some research and he found a role-playing game, an RPG that is much more suited to my tastes and interests. Um, hold on. Let me see. Cause he sent me the email.
00:20:23
Speaker
sent me an email with the documents. Okay, so the game itself is called Goddess Trist. T-R-Y-S-T. Trist like assignation. And I want to make sure that if there's a reference to like who this. Is that the sound from your end?
00:20:42
Speaker
Creaking on the on the floor upstairs. Yeah, I don't think anybody is upstairs here. I was like, I heard it and I was like, oh, yeah, I was here. Oh, I'm not finding not finding who this who created this. Interesting about it, because I want to give full credit to them. So is the game on your phone? is No, like it's not just the instructions or like the details, the guide.
00:21:09
Speaker
is on the phone. He he like emailed them to me so that I can play it whenever I want. Where is the game? How do you play the game? You play it in your living room. Is it a board game? No, it's it's an RPG. it's like It's very similar to D and&D, except it is tarot based. No. For real.
00:21:32
Speaker
So the actual description says, a tarot-based erotic lesbian encounter with divinity. Shut the fuck up, dude. What? So you play it with your tarot cards? You use your tarot cards to help guide the main like themes and elements of the story that's being built. And that includes you know things about the deity that you're encountering.
00:22:02
Speaker
things about yourself

Embracing the Autumn Season

00:22:03
Speaker
and things about the story and the events that are taking place. And it's pretty straightforward, not too complicated, doesn't require like 10 hours to like prepare or whatever.
00:22:19
Speaker
I remember when we first started playing being playing D and&D, literally it took us five hours to build my character. And it was like two in the morning when before we were able to i actually start playing. So like it doesn't require any of that. You and I can play it next time that you're here. So like that was one of his gifts to me, was that. And we played that on Monday.
00:22:43
Speaker
while i was I was off work on Monday. So I gave myself a long weekend. so we played it and effectively we like just built a short uh smut story okay and with a goddess with Athena nice and it was so fun i was so into it and it was cool to be able to use my tarot cards in a way that i had never had before in a way that was like
00:23:19
Speaker
you know, based off of ah imagination and like inspiration and improv. So um it was really fun. ah So we're gonna have to play it.
00:23:30
Speaker
Hell, maybe we should like record a session playing it. I was thinking, can we play it like remotely? like Oh, we totally could. Oh my god, we totally could. okay um We absolutely could. and you could even Because you have a regular tarot deck, right? I have the rider weight. Yeah, that's perfect. Yeah. um It doesn't require rider weight specifically, but like the rider weight structure is ideal for it. And so like we absolutely could. Maybe, oh my god, maybe that's bonus material. Ooh.
00:24:01
Speaker
Listen, we've we've thought about a Patreon. hu I think that if we start a Patreon, that should be something we we offer. Oh my god, okay. okay oh Oh my god. I'm so excited. Anywho, we have now spent like ah half an hour shooting the shit. Well, and having technical issues and being kicked in the Google Dick.
00:24:26
Speaker
so ah We are here to talk to you today about Mabon. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And we wanted this to be I think more of a concentrated or more focused episode about the Sabbath specifically, because we're recording it ahead of time in hopes to release it ahead of time before Mabon actually starts. And not necessarily because we're trying to say like, oh, like, let us give you ideas for Mabon, because like, that's not really what we're planning to talk about. Like, ah we wanted to just talk about the general holiday, the season, like what its significance is for us and for, you know, which is at large,
00:25:17
Speaker
But I think we've harped a lot on how much we are so into autumn as a concept and as like an aesthetic, a vibe. It's a beautiful season. It's a cozy season. And we love the Maybond. We love Maybond and we love the autumn holidays. Because we be basic.
00:25:41
Speaker
It is. Sorry. No, but it's for real though. So we wanted to talk about it, you know, and just, um we just wanted to get excited for the season. I'm so excited. And you know, something came to mind after our last recording about Lamas. Oh my goodness. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, I know what you're going to say. Say it. I want you to say it. Oh my goodness. So I wanted to make an amendment to like what I said in my in my in our last Sabat episode about Lamass and how I called Mabon the foreplay and of the ah you know harvest. the harvest ah Like leading up to Stalin, yeah.
00:26:28
Speaker
that a eleven
00:26:32
Speaker
So I wanted to say what really in actuality is the thing. Lamass is the foreplay. Mabon is the actual sex. And Samhain is the big O. The big O! The big O for October.
00:26:53
Speaker
yeah So that's actually the truth. That's actually the truth. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cause so that helped me actually put Lamasse in a better light. Um, and you know, the big picture. Yeah. Yeah. Like a a cooler perspective for me. Cause it leads up to the grand finale of Samhain and that's my favorite. So hell yeah.
00:27:18
Speaker
yeah Yeah. Oh, I love it. Yes. And I don't know what it is about equinoxes. I think I really like them. I like the equinoxes. And I like the winter, the solstices, right? The winter and the summer solstices, like I think they're the coolest thing. I don't know what it is about them. And yeah, yeah, it's the seasons. I think it's just like, I mean, that's the whole reason I wanted to even like do real focused episodes about the Sabbats because like the seasons are So beautiful and so important like our earth is so beautiful you guys Yeah, yeah, it's just and yeah, like I've always loved fall but living in New England has just really opened my eyes to the like immense beauty like that it's
00:28:15
Speaker
Unreal like photographs there are an abundance of them on the internet and they do not do it justice who They really truly don't like And it's not just the visual it's not just the incredible foliage the nature There is just an energy. There is such a magic to this area this region of the country that i've I've really struggled to find words to describe it, but it's so powerful to me. It's part of the reason that I fell in love with this this region and wanted to stay here and put on put down roots.
00:29:00
Speaker
you know so um Anyway, fall is almost upon us. ah ha We're very close to it. As of recording this today, it's nearing the end of August. September is next week. And it is going to be so fun. Maybellmas year is on the 22nd of September. Okay.
00:29:28
Speaker
and It's always between like the 20th and 22nd, or even sometimes the 19th, I think. This year it's the 22nd, and it is the Equinox. um I was going to say, i I also love the Equinoxes. I really... Ostara doesn't hold a candle to Mabon for me. you know um i've just I've never been a spring person, ah probably unsurprisingly.
00:29:54
Speaker
but ah Yeah, ah there's just nothing, nothing that compares. It is the second of the three harvest holidays. And as such, it is somewhat of a feast holiday. It's often referred to as the witch's Thanksgiving. And I love regular Thanksgiving, so I will take a second one. Thank you very much. but Amen.
00:30:22
Speaker
of So yeah, it's ah it's a really great day to have a feast and like fall staples are, you know, they show up in the ah traditional Thanksgiving meal, but I think that it's fun to reimagine them and reimagine like what an essential mabon feast would look like and taste like.
00:30:46
Speaker
um So I wanted to actually take a moment to paint a little bit of a word picture about a feast, but also about like a beautiful Mabon day. And I wanted Christina to join me in this. Oh yeah. Join me in the fall sex. Oh my god, don't.
00:31:08
Speaker
it <unk> Okay. but yeah Just ignore that. molly didn't say that I'm a problem. um a just You know it. oh god Okay. No, but I wanted to just take a moment and like really build this like a really something that I feel like is almost a method of manifestation. I'd say visualization is a part of manifestation and visualizing your perfect day can bring about your perfect day. Yeah. So I picture and I'm not necessarily saying let's like spell out an entire day here, but
00:31:56
Speaker
you know, I picture a perfect mémondé, like the weather I picture to be cloudy overcast. I picture it to be, you know, like somewhere in the 60 degree Fahrenheit range, you know, not too chilly, but not warm. A little breezy. A little breezy. Sweater weather, as they say. Sweater weather. Sweater weather. Here in New England or here in Massachusetts at least, ah typically the the leaves are only just starting to turn in mid-September. They don't reach their peak until mid-September.
00:32:34
Speaker
mid to late October, but you know I do feel like that's still perfect for Mabon, where it's like not full swing yet, but it's getting there. I've seen some trees around here starting to turn. Trees are starting to turn here too, really early. And I say it's because Sierra's coming to town. Oh, nice. And it wants to be ready for her. Lucky girl. I know, right?
00:33:01
Speaker
Oh, I'm so excited. Yeah. So like the leaves are starting to turn, so maybe they'll be like pretty bright by the time Maybond does roll around. That'd be beautiful. And I just picture getting to spend the day at home, getting to wear your sweater, put on a simmer pot, light your candles, you know, not just for the ambiance, but for the scent. Do your favorite scented candles, like, you know, essential scents of autumn in general, but especially Mabon are you know like cinnamon, clove, star anise, nutmeg, almond, vanilla, you know just all those beautiful beautiful fragrant scents.
00:33:46
Speaker
and, you know, ah having some of your favorite music. I love a good lo-fi channel. Uh, something like nice and chill. You can just sort of flow with it, you know? Sounds awesome. my God. Yeah. And you're like, just, I don't know, I picture it. You look cute. You feel good. You're feeling like at peace. You're feeling in like a flow state, you know, and just like,

ready for like a big delicious feast that you get to share with like your best friend. a you know a like i I almost want to just simply describe the meal that Ben and Victoria made for me last year because it was literally perfect. like I feel like it's going to become the tradition, like the meal that we had.
00:34:43
Speaker
is going to become the tradition that I strive for now, each mabon. ah We had an incredible roasted, two roasted chickens, I think, two whole chickens, with, I don't remember all of the spices, I'm sure rosemary was in the mix.
00:35:03
Speaker
um Either way, it was ah delicious with like, you know, chopped up root vegetables, you know, roasted with the with the chickens. Hey, yeah, I don't know why. But when you talked about doing this and painting a word picture, purple potatoes came to mind.
00:35:22
Speaker
Purple potatoes. I want purple potatoes so bad. Oh my God, that'd be perfect. I want to grow my own purple potatoes. yeah Oh my God. Dude, write it down. Because they would be beautiful with some sweet potatoes, you know, the bright orange. look in Oh my God. Or can you imagine like, like adding that into your like, squash soup?
00:35:47
Speaker
Oh, just chunks of it, like chunks or or making I mean, like potato soup is a thing. So what if you made purple potato soup? Ooh, that'd be put it in a cauldron. You're making a potion. a Oh, my God, that's perfect. Oh, God. Yeah, the recipe.
00:36:09
Speaker
ah the ben you i don't know he didn't I don't know if he found it or if he like made it up himself. I don't know. The man's a wizard. oh But he ah he made this incredible butternut squash soup for this meal. It was like our first course and you know made like a ah pomegranate glaze that was technically supposed to kind of go with whatever with everything all of the various dishes but it could you know it could get mixed in with the soup it could get mixed in we had like a like a wild mushroom galette I think it was actually for the galette but it was it just went with everything this pomegranate
00:36:54
Speaker
drizzle plate. That sounds so freaking good, dude. um And the thing that I discovered, it was not intentional, but I like thought of it and I was like, I'm going to do this. I'm going to try this and see how it goes is I had my butternut squash soup, super hot out of the pot. And I just took like a whole chunk of goat cheese.
00:37:15
Speaker
and dropped it in the soup and just swirled it around and melted it. oh oh So she died and went to heaven. I love goat cheese so much. It was incredible. And then we had this amazing poached pear dessert, which I've never had a poached pear before, but it was like eating candy.
00:37:37
Speaker
practically, and it had like this nice like, ah like a nutmeg cinnamon garnish, practically, but it, you know, it added, you know, flavor to the pears. Oh my god. So anyway, do you have plans to do this again this September? I cannot pull off that whole meal by myself. In fact, I was not even involved in the cooking of that meal. No, but I mean, do you have plans for them to come up again this year and do it again?
00:38:04
Speaker
Oh, they know they're invited.
00:38:09
Speaker
They're invited whenever they want to come, but Mabon especially. ah Hell, any

Thanksgiving Traditions and Fall Preparations

00:38:15
Speaker
holiday. like Let's let's like try to knock out every holiday. but Come up with a great four course meal for every single one. Oh my goodness. Oh my god. oh Okay, so but you you know that I'm trying to come for Thanksgiving this year, right? Yes. Any chance you could talk him into coming for Thanksgiving?
00:38:35
Speaker
Oh, I wish. I wish. Oh, man. He probably is going to be spending it with family. yeah I'm sure. Yeah, but hey, Ben. Hey, Ben. You're invited to Thanksgiving. Victoria, you're invited to Thanksgiving whenever you want to come. but Please, please. I know you don't want to be in New England and Thanksgiving. I'll bring the purple potatoes.
00:39:02
Speaker
Oh, my God. Yeah, well even if he doesn't show up, I think we will have a great time making a Thanksgiving meal. Oh yeah, no doubt we will. Oh my god, so excited. ah I love Thanksgiving so much you guys. Everybody, and this is the thing, every everybody looks at me and assumes that Halloween is my favorite holiday. but And I understand why they assume that. It makes sense.
00:39:33
Speaker
But it is Christina's favorite holiday. It is not my favorite holiday. Not like we can't have the same favorite holiday, but it is not my favorite holiday because my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.
00:39:44
Speaker
Oh my God, it's Thanksgiving, it' closely followed by Christmas, which is part of why Yule is so special to me um because it's a more close to the heart, close to the soul version of all the things that I love about Christmas. But yeah, Thanksgiving, favorite holiday.
00:40:06
Speaker
Oh my God, please, please, please come here. You and Ben and Victoria. All y'all. Oh my goodness. oh Yeah. So it just brings to mind all of these wonderful things, you know, and when the sun goes down and you gather and you have these, you know, this delicious meal with your friends and you just share amazing memorable moments.
00:40:36
Speaker
uh, together, like it's the whole point of, you know, holidays and traditions is to share those with the people that you love. yeah Um, you know, and I mean, to each their own, but you know, I personally feel like a ritual is a necessity on a day like that too. We did one last year too, me and Ben Victoria, my friend, Jim, he was also there.
00:41:03
Speaker
And you know it was great. It was the first time I'd ever written a whole ritual and let it, which felt really cool to be able to do for the first time. But like it was just, it was really nice. It was really special. Like I said, I wish I was there. I wish you could have been. I really do. someday Someday we can make it happen, I believe in us.
00:41:29
Speaker
Yeah. yes I'm sitting here nodding my head. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. It's just, and this is the thing is like, if you, if you kick off your fall season, doing all the things that make you feel the most warm and glowy and comfortable inside, it's a recipe for better days and, and more peace and more happiness.
00:41:56
Speaker
in your life. you know it's very much and Manifestation is probably a subject we'll need to get into on its own. but to me, and I've seen it described this way too, like manifestation works when you start to behave as though you have the thing that you want. And if you're giving yourself an environment, like what makes you feel the most cozy and at peace, you're living it. And you are giving yourself what you're manifesting. And you're showing the universe, here's what I want.
00:42:34
Speaker
Give me more of this. Thank you. More please. That's like my favorite phrase. Whenever something good is happening. Thank you. More please.
00:42:46
Speaker
that's So yeah, to that end, I mean, I wanted to also talk about the energetic and and magical plans that I have for the fall.
00:42:59
Speaker
Mostly because I mean like and it's not like I have like big old plans or whatever, but I found that I have been really Mentally and energetically and emotionally Shoring myself up for the dark season because I love the fall and I love the holidays But the dark season is a rough one It's rough for most people in New England Or anyone pretty far north. Yeah It gets pretty hard. Seasonal effective disorder. Seasonal effective disorder. I already had depression before I moved here. But so you know it is it's a real thing. It's it's hard when you know the sun starts to go down. It starts to get dark at like 330 at the ah the darkest point of the year. What time is it getting dark for you right now? I was curious about that. Sunset has been hovering around 730 currently. OK. But it's it's on its way.
00:43:57
Speaker
It's on its way. And it's especially because of the ah daylight savings is the reason that we get kicked so hard, you know? Yeah. um Daylight savings at the beginning of November always puts us deep in the dark. It's not fun to leave the office when it's pitch black at 5pm. Right.
00:44:19
Speaker
but even still you know like that's that's part of the reason i'm like i'm i'm committed to this land i'm committed to this region i love it here i want to stay regardless of the challenges of the season and so that's why i've been like shoring myself up like emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and environmentally too because I've been making a concerted effort to purchase more lighting for my home. I realized this past winter that I really didn't have enough and it gets really dark in here at night, especially when I'm working from home. Oh my god, it's so weird to like
00:44:58
Speaker
get up from my desk and realize that like the entire house is black um god because I've been working and focused and then I get up at 5 pm and realize oh no I never turned any lights on oh my goodness um and so I just you know I've been making an effort to gather up some cozy lights and some things that just look really pretty and you know not necessarily because I don't like the big light we hate the big light and the in this house. The ceiling light fucking sucks. But, ah you know, just trying to do some recessed lighting, some cozy lighting, you know, and enough of it to really ah make each room feel warm and comforting. In the in the Nordic region, they call it aye Higa? Higa?
00:45:50
Speaker
huga oh I am butchering that and I'm learning Swedish, though so that's sad. oh but h H-Y-G-G-E, which just means a cozy home and like cozy feelings ah because, you know, that far north they have polar night where it's dark 24 seven for at least a month out of the year. They need it. And I, you know, I learned about this concept and was just like,
00:46:22
Speaker
This is exactly what we need. So i'm I'm leaning into that. I'm curating my spaces, not just with light, but with like all sorts of environmental aesthetic supplements, things, scented candles, and making sure that I you know play my music, or like things that just make me feel good you know um to combat the sad. Yeah, mom.
00:46:49
Speaker
but And that to me, even if it's not like a specifically magical working, a spell work of any kind, it's energetic. And, you know, how you feel affects the rest of your life energetically, like magically, emotionally, like it it affects everything. And so if it's like important to me to build up a foundation like that.
00:47:13
Speaker
But then also, you know, in the spirit of the witch's Thanksgiving, I wanted to, or I'm planning to fully focus on establishing a routine of ritualized gratitude, which is something that I think will also really help to get through the dark season. But also it's good. It's a good practice to have. You know, Julie started that kind of I don't want to say game or challenge or I don't know what word, like she started that kind of thing with me a few weeks back, like maybe three months or so ago. where she would say, I am grateful for XYZ, just list off some stuff. And then she's like, okay, your turn. And then I just kind of like tried to reiterate something like back to her and it just was like, I don't know, I wasn't feeling it. So I just couldn't stick with it. Because I think we did it for like two days or three days straight and it was like, nah. It's hard.
00:48:15
Speaker
It's important. It's just hard to do when yeah you're stressed out and you've had a lot of weird crap going on and things, yeah you know, crazy everyday life stuff constantly being insane. And like, you just have to try really hard to focus on the things you're grateful for. And I appreciated her for doing that. And it's definitely something that I should be trying to do more. Yeah. And I think it can be hard too when you feel like you have an audience to say something about what you're grateful for. Right. And so that's part of why, like, as much as I, I mean, I, I would absolutely love it if people took the idea of ritualized gratitude and ran with it and everybody, like, whoever wanted, whoever felt like it resonated with them, wanted to try to implement it for themselves. But I i feel like it's going to be, or for at least for me, it's going to be fully very personal, private practice.
00:49:10
Speaker
Yeah. Just because I want to be able to do it in a way that I don't feel, not like I should feel self-conscious, but like, I often feel self-conscious when I don't need to. And why add to that, you know? And like, I love the idea of sharing, you know, sharing with people like what it is that you're feeling great before in the moment. Like that's awesome. It's a great practice to do. But I think for like, getting into it or getting back into it, like,
00:49:37
Speaker
If you feel like you gotta to keep it private, by all means do. If it makes it easier for you to do it at all, do that. right who And also just remembered that aye I don't know how I got this started, but I, on September 18th every year, I share a list of at least five big things that I'm grateful for.
00:50:04
Speaker
Yeah, I remember those posts, Facebook posts. And you know it's usually it's usually spurred on by memories, like Facebook memories popping up. And I remind myself, oh, it was this time last year. It was today last year that I did that. So let me do a new one. you know And that's what reminds me, but now it's in my head, September 18th. And so I almost feel like it's like a third gratitude holiday.
00:50:33
Speaker
It's the first of them. yeah but yeah i i really just want to I hope that this inspires people to start to implement a gratitude practice. Again, do what do what you feel called to. Don't do what feels forced. But it's so good for you. It can really shift things in a way that we can't even comprehend.
00:51:03
Speaker
and that's the which's thanksgiving yeah I need more of that in my life for sure. Hey, that's what we're here for, right? That's what we're here to do. I am going to go ahead and apologize now at the end of this episode if our audio volumes are all out of whack because that is what the that was the like technological issues that we were facing toward the beginning of the episode.
00:51:32
Speaker
i and Like you said, last time we recorded, your audio wave sounded or looked way too small, and you were quieter, but I was able to crank it up. I hope that it's the case. That's all it is for me this time. I haven't hardly seen any, I mean, yours are smaller than they were that very first time we used this platform to record on, but mine look really tiny.
00:52:01
Speaker
so Good luck. I'm sorry. Oh, it's okay. It's honestly um makes me glad that there the audios are recorded separately because I can adjust the volume of one and not the other and before I combine them so Fingers crossed it'll be fine, but I apologize if ah if at some point because I started out normal when we started the session, and then at some point it got really weirdly quiet, so I

Gratitude and Future Plans

Speaker
hope that it's not too dramatic of a difference. But regardless, um we have been rambling, and I do think it's time to wrap things up. It's getting late in the evening. Yeah, I'm tired. I'm tired too. Oh my god, I'm so tired. But we have had such a great time today. This I feel was very needed.
