Celebrating Crystal Palace's FA Cup Win

00:00:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to the Daily Palace podcast. I'm your host today, Dan Tanner, and join me today on probably one of the best days to do one of these podcasts on after the absolutely tremendous cup final win.
00:00:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Wale Bakari, how was your weekend, man? Because mine was pretty good.
00:00:31
Wale Bakare
Yeah, it was it was a great weekend. final, good game, a good win for Palace. it was you know I was saying last week that a Palace win would be a good season for English football. you know Newcastle winning the League Cup final after so many years, Palace winning the FA Cup, the first trophy ever.
00:00:49
Wale Bakare
and And that was exactly what happened. So it was a fantastic weekend all around.
00:00:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
apps i'm I'm still getting over it It's been at least two days now, I think. Yes, and we're recording this on Monday. It's been at least a couple of days and I'm still getting over it.
00:01:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Alex is probably still the same way. He's probably still bouncing off the walls with excitement too.
00:01:10
Wale Bakare
a man
00:01:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
so
00:01:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, yeah, that's one of the things we are going to talk about today.
00:01:15
Wale Bakare
I tell you what, I'm
00:01:18
Wale Bakare
yeah i'm i'm not one to i'm not one to envy people a lot, but you know seeing the scenes in the stadium, I just kept envying Alex, you know knowing that he was somewhere in that crowd.
00:01:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
Go on, Will.
00:01:30
Wale Bakare
I was thinking, oh, what I would give to be in that crowd.
00:01:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:01:33
Wale Bakare
It was fantastic.
00:01:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, he wass lucky enough to go there. there He was lucky enough to go to the semifinal as well.
00:01:39
Wale Bakare
Yeah. Yeah.
00:01:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
So our man on the ground. So we'll have sort of get his photos and get the lowdown of what it was actually like to

Key Moments and Strategies of the Final

00:01:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
be there. So as I was saying, but that's one of the things we're going to talk about today is the f FA Cup final, which, yep, if you didn't know,
00:01:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Palace won it. Just in case you didn't know if you were away or nowhere near a television, which is pretty hard to do nowadays, I think. And we're also going to talk about sort of the star players from that game maybe even throughout the tournament because I think from my understanding, think we only conceded one goal throughout the entire tournament, which was against Millwall.
00:02:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
So as a unit, we were absolutely solid throughout.
00:02:20
Wale Bakare
Yeah.
00:02:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
And finally... Palace are going to Europe. Europe is going to be coming to South London. This is going to be fun.
00:02:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is something I've been sort of dreaming about for years as a sort of young Palace fan in the early 90s. Eight, nine, ten-year-olds sort of going, why can't we go to Europe? work But we're getting but getting European football next year. It may be Europa, but...
00:02:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
European football is still European football. So let's get down to it We're going to now talk about the FA Cup final. Why?
00:03:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
What were your kind of thoughts and sort of, yeah, your kind of, what did you kind of make of the the FA Cup final, the whole thing? Because for me, I was bouncing off the wall. i was sort of edging sort of ever, ever closer.
00:03:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
The more man and Man City had the ball, it was almost like it's inevitable. It's going to go in. And then we get one on the break. And it's just like, it's all over. But from there, they couldn't do anything. So what did you make of it, Willow?
00:03:33
Wale Bakare
Overall, it was a very good game. City, even though they lost, played a good game, played a good final. Palace were amazing, defended as a unit. And I have to say...
00:03:47
Wale Bakare
I think Crystal Palace have been one of those teams, if not the best in terms of ah ah performing as a full 11, you know, in in the Premier League and, of course, in the FA Cup this season, because is it's mostly been the same set of players.
00:04:05
Wale Bakare
you know prosecuting these games for Palace. Week in, week out, when we've seen a great Palace performance and a good Palace win, and we talk about you know the the best players, we we tend to run through ah about five, six, seven players, and it's the same a group of players you know performing week-in, week-out for Palace.

Analyzing Palace's Underdog Victory

00:04:24
Wale Bakare
And as a unit, I think Palace have been one of the best sides you know this season, even though it was a slow start to the season for them. Speaking specifically about the FA Cup final on Saturday,
00:04:36
Wale Bakare
Great game. You know, exactly what we expected. City were going to have the most of the ball. They were going to outplay Palace, but it was always going to be out well.
00:04:47
Wale Bakare
You know, could Palace use the opportunities that came to them? Palace used the well on the evidence of the result. Fantastic finish by Eze. Eze. um Maybe there was a bit of luck in...
00:05:00
Wale Bakare
you know the The very, very subjective decision to keep Dean Henderson in the game, I personally thought maybe that should have been a red card.
00:05:12
Wale Bakare
But then there was the decision by the VAR to say the ball was going away from goal. if If he had gotten a red card, I'm sure not many Palace fans would have had you know a lot of grudge because of the decision. So there there was a bit of fortune there, but it was just great in the rest of the game. Saved Mamushi's penalty well, got Allen's rebound, made a couple of great saves in the game. It was just a wall.
00:05:40
Wale Bakare
And the the long the longer it went, the more it felt like City were not going to score a goal. And that game could have gone on for another 30 minutes and Palace would have just repelled everything through at them.
00:05:57
Wale Bakare
And it's just one of those stories in football where... It gives you goosebumps. It's one of the reasons we all love football. The underdog winning, you know, when every nine out of 10 people you know would have said City would have won that final.
00:06:14
Wale Bakare
Although I have to say, I'm sure there were there was that sneaky feeling that... Palace were more than capable of you know pulling that upset in that final. I'm sure there were you know a few people who looked at that Palace side, judged them based on performances that we've seen in the last couple of weeks and and would have said, if City are not careful, especially after what we saw Southampton do to them in their last Premier League game,
00:06:39
Wale Bakare
they could you know't find themselves struggling to break Palace down. And that was exactly what we saw. Great finish by Eze. Great performance by Henderson.
00:06:49
Wale Bakare
Unlucky Munoz didn't get that second goal. But overall, yeah, City dominated play. But overall, Palace, and when you listen to Olivier Glasner after the game as well,
00:07:03
Wale Bakare
Palace understood the situation they were going to be in, understood their assignment, took their chance when it came and yeah, great result overall, but fantastic final it was.

Reflecting on Palace's Performance and Potential

00:07:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, definitely up there with one of my greatest sort Palace memories because, well, as you don't really get Palace finals very often, let let alone winning them.
00:07:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
I've done it plenty of times over the years on video games, on Football Manager, on FIFA, of Palace winning the FA Cup actually to watch it. watch it happen and in such a way where it was a brilliant advert for you don't need to have all the possession to win a game.
00:07:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think City had something like 25, 27, maybe even a bit more shots on target. Palace had five and we got one in. it's all of the only score the ma The only stat that matters is this final score.
00:08:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's just another perfect advert of this sort of attitudes and things of that you don't need to be completely dominant. But it's also like, I think there was a lot of confidence from the Palace players going into this as well.
00:08:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Glasner, I think in the press conference before, sort of goaded Guardiola saying, last time you you played this particular system, you beat us You play it again, we're going to beat you.
00:08:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
outright just sort of we thought set down the gauntlet of, we are going to beat you, and we are going to do it our way. we are not going to sort of change. This is how we're going to play, it and we are going to beat you. And it's what they did.
00:08:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
We just sort of frustrated City to such a degree that they couldn't do anything. It was... They got a handful of, like, really close chances, and it was last-ditch defending over and over and over again.
00:08:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
But... Every single Palace player knew what they had to do. Very few of them... made any mistakes or out of position or anything. They were sort of going for going full throttle the entire match. It was sort of everybody was on edge, was on it just completely and utterly.
00:09:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
And this has been the story of the FA Cup tournament for Palace pretty much since rats up the third round. When we go go into it, we just it was a clean and of clinical sort of display of defending.
00:09:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
And, yeah, it just proves that you don't need to spend a load of money and it sort of go full on to go and win a title, go and win a FA Cup. So hopefully if this continues and we get couple more in the next decade or so, I don't see it.
00:09:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
But we can only hope that we can with this sort of cup final, we can push forward and maybe get out of this sort of middle of the table sort of quagmire we've got ourselves into.
00:09:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
But that we will probably talk about in a couple of minutes. But for the moment, we'll take a quick break and start celebrating some of the star players that got us the FA Cup.
00:10:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we'll be right back after this.
00:10:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm sorry.
00:10:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we are back with the Daily Palace podcast. I am still your host, Dan Tanner. We are also still joined by Wale Bakari. So we are now going to kind of celebrate some of the superstars that got us to this FA Cup.
00:11:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
And basically, there's been kind of the star players throughout this season as well. So, Wale, who are your sort of picks for ah ah superstars on the day, sort
00:11:19
Wale Bakare
you
00:11:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Yeah, who beats your your stars up for one of the FA Cup and mainly so even for the rest of the tournament and rest of the season?
00:11:31
Wale Bakare
To be honest, it's a bit of a difficult one because you know what when you win a trophy, it's obviously the old team's done well. And with the Palace set up, this yeah it's it's been about the team. It's ah it's not been about individual performances. But in in a game against Man City, you need those individuals who would just give you that extra.
00:11:53
Wale Bakare
And man of the match was Dean Henderson. Got that penalty save. but that Despite the fact that it was and anyone would have been rattled by the Redcats out and the long VAR delay, settled back into the game, made that penalty save, made a number of crucial saves you know later in the game, a great save late on ah from Echeverry, made a good save from...
00:12:20
Wale Bakare
ah Jeremy Doku, who by the way it was great for CT. And the fact that virtually every CT player, except for, don't know, maybe maybe the goalkeeper, Ortega, and maybe Manuela Conje, for me, who I thought just kept playing the simple passes.
00:12:41
Wale Bakare
Virtually every CT player had a good game when you look at it, but then they lost. And that that just tells you that, you know, Palace must have been really on on another level. So Dean Henderson, for me, man of the match, I think for everyone, you know, it was the best player on the pitch on Saturday.
00:13:00
Wale Bakare
Another person was Chris Richards, who, again, ah ah seemed like he had made up his mind. it wasn't you know going to let anything pass him. And every ball that came into the box, he just kept repelling.
00:13:14
Wale Bakare
And you know despite the fact that it was tough handling Jeremy Doku on that side of the defence, stuck to his task, supported him,
00:13:25
Wale Bakare
Moines well, know got the better of Dukwe couple of times, got some bold some great passes you know to the midfield players a couple of times. So he had a fantastic game.
00:13:35
Wale Bakare
Moines, of course, got the assist for Eze's goal, could have gotten a goal for himself. It's just a very weird wingback. Just keeps bombing up and down that right side of the pitch from the first minute to the very end. And it's almost like, you know, he has some spare energy stored in some tank and it just never tires. So we saw that again from him yesterday.
00:14:04
Wale Bakare
Of course, the goal scorer is a... Great game, held the ball well a couple of times, proved an outlet, beat some players, always got the ball to the right to Munas.
00:14:15
Wale Bakare
Also in the middle of the pack, Adam Wharton had a great game as well. You could go through the entire team, mention Daichi Kamada and you know ah the rest of the guys. It was just a great team performance great team performance you know from Palace and they completely, completely deserved the title.
00:14:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I probably would tend to say very similar sentiments that it was a full team effort, which I'm always sort of for. But Henderson definitely is going to be up there.
00:14:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
Very rarely do keepers are... determine like Cup finals. yeah know The only other one I can really so remember with a similar kind of level was Couture in a Champions League final where he just decided, you are not getting past me.
00:15:06
Wale Bakare
Yeah, that was against Liverpool, yeah.
00:15:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
i I think it was Liverpool.
00:15:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
I know, sorry, have to bring that up, but...
00:15:09
Wale Bakare
Yeah.
00:15:11
Wale Bakare
it's all right.
00:15:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
But just sort of Henderson had that same attitude of, I am not letting anything in. And it's been like that the entire season as well. So some of these freaks of nature keeping, like one's underneath his body and sort of the reef so full stretch dives and things like that.
00:15:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
City had to work for it, and Dean Henderson definitely made it difficult for him. Getting a penalty save as well, it looked like... I don't know Haaland gave up the penalty.
00:15:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was very weird from him. I know he's not got the greatest record, but it was very strange.
00:15:49
Wale Bakare
you I
00:15:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
milk I'm just going to give off this to a guy that hasn't taken a penalty all season. Very weird. Any thoughts on that, Wallo?
00:15:58
Wale Bakare
don't know. He's lost... He's missed three of his last seven penalties, I think. One has to say...
00:16:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think he's got four of the last seven, so yeah.
00:16:07
Wale Bakare
Yeah, one has to say it's not, is's not is's not he is of course, he's a player that that's very confident, but strikers, as we know, thrive on you know the their confidence levels.
00:16:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's a great list of records.
00:16:17
Wale Bakare
And it just tells us he wasn't at that level in that game. He's also not at a very great time playing in finals, but also in Wembley as well.
00:16:28
Wale Bakare
I don't think he's got a goal in a final at Wembley.
00:16:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
don't think so yeah he hasn't scored at wemberley yet
00:16:32
Wale Bakare
Yeah. And Mamouche is one that, although the move to City slowed him down a bit, but if you look at the list of attackers in the Bundesliga, I think he's fourth or fifth in the highest goalscorers in Germany, even though it played just half of the season. So, yes, he's a confident boy, but it was just a great

Discussions on Controversial Decisions and Future Prospects

00:16:55
Wale Bakare
save.
00:16:56
Wale Bakare
It wasn't one of those penalties where he was tame. It wasn't one of those penalties where slipped or didn't pick Well, he picked a spot, put enough power behind it. Henderson put out a strong hand, made a great save and gathered the rebound. So it was a situation of and goalkeeper that was equal to the task. And that was the foundation for it you know the the rest of his performance in that game.
00:17:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we can't talk about Henderson without the slight controversy of a the possible red card.
00:17:35
Wale Bakare
Mm-hmm.
00:17:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm still not totally understanding. i kindt I know why people are saying it's a red card, but he's the goalkeeper. What else is he supposed to do? the other The other option he has is to stand his ground and get flattened by Haaland.
00:17:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
or Or accidentally tackle him and get a red card anyway. So what after watching it, I was thinking, at the very least, we're probably going to get a direct we're goingnna get a free kick outside the box and he's probably going to get a yellow card.
00:18:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
But it's just sort of It's a very loose interpretation of goal-scoring opportunity, I think, seems to be what the yeah issue is.
00:18:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
So... Yeah, was just like, everybody said to me, oh, that's a definite red card. It's like, a no.
00:18:30
Wale Bakare
I don't know. what what we always knew what we always knew was if the goalkeeper has intentionally punched the ball outside of his box, then that's a sending-off situation.
00:18:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's I think it's a free kick and a direct. you've got You've really got to do something so something like that for a goalkeeper to get sent off. But yeah, it's a yellow card.
00:18:52
Wale Bakare
well, if the goalkeeper has... and No, I think you're talking about if the goalkeeper's you know picked up a back pass in the box, then it's an indirect free kick. But 9 out of 10 times, if the goalkeeper's punched the ball intentionally outside of his box, then it's it's most likely a red card.
00:19:09
Wale Bakare
Because 9 out of 10 times, goalkeepers do that because they're trying to stop. you know, goal scoring opportunity. So that beat of its course stopping a goal scoring opportunity was what saved Henderson in that game.
00:19:24
Wale Bakare
The ball was going to the side. it did seem like allland was or if Ireland had kicked the ball, it was also you know, intent on going to the side. So it was going away from goal.
00:19:34
Wale Bakare
That was the foundation of the decision of, the the you know, the VAR referee thinking, well, Allen also was going away from goal. So it wasn't exactly a goal scoring opportunity.
00:19:46
Wale Bakare
But as I said earlier, If VAR had decided that it was a sending of offence and the referee had given a red cap to Henderson, I think a lot of us would maybe have a agreed with a decision and we wouldn't be entirely be begrudging the referee. But you know just like Olivier Glasner said, you talk about what Henderson could have done.
00:20:08
Wale Bakare
ah ah wonder whether... Maybe he should have been that far out. Maybe he miscalculated his run. Maybe he could have kicked the ball, you know come at the ball with the leg. But there was the risk of fouling Allen. And then you know that would have been a definite red card.
00:20:23
Wale Bakare
And that would have changed the entire story of the game. But at the end of the day, with the way the game went for Palace, fantastic decision.
00:20:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, so for for once VAR worked for us and we're all happy about that. So, because we've had quite a few over the last few weeks where VAR has done some very weird decisions.
00:20:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm looking at you, Mateta, offside because of the shoulder. yeah.
00:20:50
Wale Bakare
did you Did you see Godzilla and Anderson at the end?
00:20:54
Wale Bakare
It was almost like you just didn't want to you know see Anderson at all. Hmm.
00:20:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I'm not surprised really. Some people could be sore losers, but whatever. And with that, we'll take another quick break and then start talking about next season of Europe coming to South London.
00:21:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
always it's going to be fun. We'll be right back after this. Here at the Global Sports Podcast Network, we spend a lot of time selecting our delivery platform.

00:21:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
And Wale Bakari is still here. So after winning the FA Cup, I know I'm going to keep saying that a lot. We are FA Cup winners. I'm not going to get bored, at least for a while. As part thought of that, we get a European spot next year in the Europa League.
00:22:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Palace are going to Europe. First question, Wale, do you have your passport ready?
00:22:21
Wale Bakare
Well,
00:22:24
Wale Bakare
to be honest, no one not many of us thought that we would be talking Palace and Europe in the same sentence for a while. And it it it's quite interesting.
00:22:36
Wale Bakare
I know you and Alex are traditional Palace fans, yeah? um I may have spoken about Europe more than you guys. I may have believed in the Europe dream more than you guys.
00:22:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:22:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
we've been We've been around the block, man. We've been through the block.
00:22:55
Wale Bakare
But yeah, is is is ah it's beautiful. it's a beautiful story. It's a beautiful story for many of the Palace players. I've been, you know, the the the week leading to the f FA Cup final, I sent a lot of articles about some of the Palace players and you know where they've come from, what they've been through in their career. Iberich Yeze, Adam Wharton was you know playing championship football just under two years ago. He's been to the Euros, even though he didn't play for in England, but he's been to the Euros.
00:23:28
Wale Bakare
is fully international, so to speak, and an FA Cup winner and is going to be in Europe next season, although he's one of those many players that has been courted by so many teams you know in the league and outside of the league. So,
00:23:44
Wale Bakare
Palace might be the architect you might be the architect of their own. you know The success of Palace you know might also mean a lot of trouble for the team in terms of players that will will be courted by other teams in the league and outside the league.
00:24:01
Wale Bakare
We've already talked about Madrid looking to get Adam Wharton. There's talks about Beric Yeze. Mike Gay, we know, we will be the final year of his contract next season. So is it's going to be a very interesting summer for Palace.
00:24:17
Wale Bakare
Understand that playing in the Europa League, even though Palace will be going straight to the league face of the Europa League, but it's more games you know for Palace than they're used to. Maybe Olivier Glasner understands it because he's won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in it from his time in Germany.
00:24:34
Wale Bakare
But it's a new territory for the Palace players. So in terms of squad size, Palace need to do you know more business. will be a lot of work keeping the the players that have you know been successful this season and getting them you know more players in. But one thing we know is Palace is in a better place financially, but even though it was, i think, £2 million. pounds That's the prize money for winning the FA Cup.
00:25:01
Wale Bakare
But the the yeah but the the dividends the dividends of winning the FA Cup for Palace, it's not just monetary.
00:25:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
think something like that. Yeah. who on yeah

It's also about the standing of the team. you know Palace can now talk about themselves being FA Cup winners, you know underdogs winning the f FA Cup like Wigan did, like Leicester did, even though they did that after winning in the league a couple of years before. but you know, so it's it's it's a very beautiful story for Palace.
00:25:29
Wale Bakare
It means they will need to, the team and the guys up top will need to do a lot of work keeping those boys together and getting help and getting more reinforcements for the team. But I'm sure it's a challenge that Steve Parrish and the other guys will be relishing and they raring to go and maybe just maybe you this puts to bed all these talks about you know whether other teams want Glasner or maybe you know the the attraction of Europe will make him stay and the the attraction of writing another great story with the Palace fans next season will be you know enough incentive for him to stay next season

Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, we can only hope. I'm expecting a lot of conversations between the star players, the likes of Gehi, Eze and this lot of, you sure you want to leave next year?
00:26:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
you You don't want to hang around for at least another year, see how it goes?
00:26:25
Wale Bakare
Thank you.
00:26:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm expecting a lot. Yeah, Paris having quite a few conversations with those guys and trying to hold hold off The vultures from going around like the likes of United and Spurs are going be looking for rebuilds.
00:26:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
So i I think one of the reasons that Eze and Geahy kind of wanted to leave Palace was to try and get European football. And now we have at least one year of it. I know it's not Champions League, but European football is still still European football for Palace at the very least being a mid-table team.
00:27:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
That also being said, Wale, what do you think of our chances? As a team at the moment, I think we're all right. I think if we can get to the knockout round, I would be satisfied because premiership teams usually do fairly well in the Europa League just because they're We are playing world-class players and these teams are designed to take on the likes of City, Arsenal, Liverpool on a somewhat regular basis.
00:27:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I'm fairly confident that.
00:27:28
Wale Bakare
yeah
00:27:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
What would you think of chances... chances
00:27:33
Wale Bakare
Well, I won't be surprised. I'm i'm sure Palace would do well. I remember Wolves, when Nuno Espirito Santo was there, got to the quarterfinals. remember Swansea, I think.
00:27:45
Wale Bakare
Also, can't remember whether they went beyond the other the group stages, but as you mentioned, lot of English sides you usually... ah you mid-table sides have gone to the Europa League particularly and have gotten out of their group and you know maybe got into the knockout stages.
00:28:03
Wale Bakare
what One thing I also have to say is what we've also seen in those years is while those teams have you know done well in the Europa League, we've seen almost a commensurate ah ah effect on how well they did in the league. There's just something about Europe, something particularly about the Europa League you know that that that tends to drain a lot of the teams because you're're you're travelling to very weird places.
00:28:28
Wale Bakare
and When I say weird, I mean in the distance and the weather. You're traveling to very cold places. You're traveling to places where teams are actively you know doing everything to throw you off and make sure that you don't play well.
00:28:44
Wale Bakare
you know So it's it's a very weird competition, the Europa League. But it's It's a great opportunity for Palace to write another great story. that you As you said, you know over and over this part, Europe is Europe. So any team would take it. And it's it's it's also good financial...
00:29:03
Wale Bakare
gains that come with playing in the Europa League for Palace. That's finances that Palace wouldn't have dreamt of at the start of the season. I'm not sure. you know A lot of Palace fans thought about winning the FA Cup and qualifying for Europe.
00:29:18
Wale Bakare
It was a dream that started growing as the season went on. so yeah Palace have got a good chance, but would fall to Olivier Glasner to make sure that he manages the team well such that doing well in the Europa League, maybe a quarter-final place in the Europa League would not mean fighting relegation next season.
00:29:38
Wale Bakare
We talk about United and Tottenham this season. Yeah, they they're completely poor, but I'm sure Europa League is also part of the reason they find themselves 16th and 17th in the league, even though the two of them will be playing the final.
00:29:53
Wale Bakare
on Wednesday. So but that's the situation that Palace will find themselves come next season. But as I said, I'm sure Glasner and the rest of his staff will be relishing the idea of you know working with those boys and more players and just trying to see how well you know the next season can be for Palace.
00:30:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep, well, we'll just have we'll just have to wait and see. We've got, like, I think of time of recording, one more week of the season. We've got a game tomorrow against Wolves and then final final game of the season against Liverpool.
00:30:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then we'll go from there.
00:30:28
Wale Bakare
And it's good to be it's going to be Liverpool kick-starting next season for Palace as well, remember, with the community shield now.
00:30:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
So...
00:30:35

00:30:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
