00:00:27
Speaker
Cheetos are how I made a major shift in my money mindset and welcomed more financial freedom into my life. Yep. I said what I said. Okay. But before we can dive into the Cheetos theory, we have a little work to do, a little prep work to do. Okay. So here's the deal. Your thoughts dictate your truth.

Tiffany's Money Mindset Transformation Journey
00:00:53
Speaker
So if you believe money is hard to come by, money will indeed be hard to come by. And if you believe money is easy to make, money will be, you guessed it, easy to make. But all that sounds a little too simple, right? And as we know, simple doesn't always mean that it doesn't require work.
00:01:16
Speaker
I want to take you back 2017 when I realized that I had some work to do on my money mindset. This is when I started to change my reality.
00:01:30
Speaker
and change my monetary truth, the money in my bank account. And it took work, but as a result, I started making more money with more ease. And I have a completely different perspective on money now than I used to, that to be honest, has left me feeling freer than ever.

Seven Tips for Transforming Money Mindset
00:02:52
Speaker
Simply put, adjusting my money mindset gave me the time freedom that I had been craving as an entrepreneur. Like when I left corporate America and I said, I'm going to start my own business, trust me, it wasn't because I wanted to work 24 seven. I wanted time freedom. I wanted flexibility and I wanted to make a huge impact in this world and I wanted to give back and I wanted to be free, right? And all of that meant I needed to make a little bit more money than I was making back then.
00:03:21
Speaker
So what I'm going to share with you today was the stepping stone for me and the things that now I cannot imagine living without. Now, if you're new to the personal growth journey, some of the things I'm going to share today may seem a little bit strange, a little bit out there, a little bit woo-woo, okay? But honestly, what do you have to lose? Well, a rich life, that's what.
00:03:49
Speaker
None of these tips, I'm gonna share seven tips with you. None of these tips are gonna break the bank. In fact, you're hopefully gonna find that they start putting money in your bank. Okay, you might find money start showing up in unexpected places. So keep your eyes open. Keep your heart filled with love. Grab that bag of Cheetos. It'll make sense in a minute, I swear. And let's dig in. Today, I'm sharing with you seven tips to transform your money mindset.
00:04:17
Speaker
Here we go, number one, become aware of your limiting beliefs. So what's a limiting belief? It is a belief that no longer serves you. It is a belief that is holding you back from reaching your truest potential. And the first thing we have to do is identify the limiting beliefs that you have around money, specifically around making a lot of money.
Reversing Limiting Beliefs About Money
00:04:43
Speaker
So for me, I realized one of my limiting beliefs was that I thought it was going to be hard to make more money and always felt challenging and always felt difficult.
00:04:54
Speaker
That was one limiting belief that I was able to identify. The second limiting belief I very quickly identified was that I was living in a scarcity mindset. I was constantly worried that I didn't have enough money. And I noticed it in particular when I would like be paying my grocery bill or filling up my gas tank.
00:05:14
Speaker
Right? My mind would go, oh no, another $50. Oh no, another $100. That was a scarcity mindset. So the first thing I want you to do is become aware of your limiting beliefs. Okay? Right now, as I'm chatting, you might already have something that's come to mind. Great. Okay? Awareness is step one, and then we're going to work on reversing those limiting beliefs. So do you find yourself saying, I can't afford that, or I don't have the money for that.
00:05:43
Speaker
That's a limiting belief. I want you to become aware of it, question it, start to remove it from your vocabulary, and rewrite that narrative. So instead of saying, I can't afford that, try saying, you know what? That's for me.
00:06:02
Speaker
that hundred dollar grocery bill that's for me I got this right or that Porsche driving down the road that I really want that I just told myself I can't afford that's for me I got this that's that's my next car right if you start saying I don't have the money for that I want you to to reverse that and say I have all the money I need and more
00:06:25
Speaker
That's no big deal, I've got that, drop in the bucket. Whatever feels good to you, whatever feels natural to you, just when you notice in your mind or out loud that you say something that sounds a lot like a limiting believer on money,
00:06:40
Speaker
Reverse it. Back it up. Reverse it. Question it. Say the opposite. It's not going to feel real at first. It's not going to feel natural at first. That's okay. Do it any way. Okay. Then here's another limiting belief. Do you worry that if you make a lot of money, you won't know what to do with it or that you'll be irresponsible with it or that people will start asking you for it? If that's the case, I want you to practice spending it today.
00:07:06
Speaker
Literally, I ask my clients sometimes to spend their stretch goal. A stretch goal is like what we say we want them to make with their business. So let's say we decided, okay, we're going to try to make 350, but a stretch goal would be five. And then let's say they're like, oh, I don't even know what I would do with 500,000. I'm like, oh, okay, here we go. Here's an exercise. Let's spend it.
00:07:28
Speaker
Because once you have an understanding of how much you will have to go around and how you will use it, your confidence is going to increase. And when your confidence increases, your energy changes. And when your energy changes, you become a magnet for what you want.
00:07:44
Speaker
If you want to make $500,000 and you're worried that you won't know how to spend it, here's what we're going to do. We're going to break it down. Great. $100,000. How much is going in taxes? How much is going to your mortgage? How much is going to pay off your car or your childcare? How much is going to some spa services that you've desperately been wanting and deserve?
00:08:03
Speaker
How much is going towards whatever, like your social media manager or your office manager? How much is going to go to charity? How much are you going to tuck away for a rainy day? How much are you investing? We spend that money so that you stop repelling it with your fears and your doubt and your worry and your concerns.
Permission and Awareness in Becoming Rich
00:08:21
Speaker
Jen Sincero, if you're not familiar, is one of my favorite authors and her book, You Are a Badass at Making Money.
00:08:26
Speaker
was a pivotal, played a pivotal role for me in my money mindset adventures. But she says this, one of the biggest obstacles to making lots of money is not a lack of good ideas or opportunities or time, or that we're too slovenly or stupid. It's that we refuse to give ourselves permission to become rich.
00:08:51
Speaker
Let that sink in. You might cognitively want to make more money, but if your internal beliefs don't support that desire, guess what? You're always going to feel like you're in battle with money.
00:09:07
Speaker
You may find yourself making money only to have an unexpected bill pop up for that exact amount right after you make it, right? Or you might self-sabotage that next sale. And even though someone's clearly in front of you wanting to purchase, you throw a discount their way because you get nervous. Your subconscious beliefs are telling you that it's bad to make a lot of money. So the thoughts and the beliefs that we don't consciously reject, we unconsciously accept.
00:09:33
Speaker
So step one, become very aware of your limiting beliefs. And once we are aware, we can start to turn those thoughts around day by day, moment by moment, until eventually you wake up and realize your new way of thinking has changed. Number two, this is how we're going to change your money mindset. Number two, I want you to remove any shame associated with your desire to be rich.
00:09:57
Speaker
In fact, let's get started by just getting clear on what it means to be rich. Again from Jinsinchero, she says the definition of rich. Able to afford all the things and experiences required to fully experience your most authentic life.
00:10:14
Speaker
That sounds pretty angelic, doesn't it? What's wrong with that? That's magical. That's amazing. I want you to fully experience your most authentic life. I want you to be stinking rich. And the truth is the world runs on money.
00:10:32
Speaker
And many of us have deep seated untrue beliefs that money is evil or money can't buy you happiness or money doesn't grow on trees or wealthy people are snobby or insert whatever it is that you're noticing crop up as I'm talking. So now is the time for you to question those negative untrue beliefs and start to believe something different.
00:11:03
Speaker
If the desire for money brings about some sense of guilt or shame, I want you to start associating a positive goal with your desire for money.
00:11:14
Speaker
So for example, do you want to have stress free evenings with your loved ones at nice restaurants? Do you want to give back to charity or your church? Do you want to take your parents on a trip or leave your job so you can start your dream business or make enough money that your partner can quit their dead end job? Do you want to get a dog or have a baby or adopt a baby or buy a house or buy a car?
00:11:38
Speaker
All of those things are perfectly acceptable reasons to want more money. It doesn't make you selfish. It doesn't make you shallow. It makes you human.
00:11:50
Speaker
Once you've narrowed down why you want more money, I want you to try repeating this mantra. I am grateful for money because fill in the blank. So I'm grateful for money because it allows me more freedom. I'm grateful for money because it allows me to have a baby. I'm grateful for money because it allows me to buy this house that gives me a sense of safety and peace. It allows me to support my loved ones. It allows me to take care of my health and wellbeing. You fill in the gaps, okay? You fill in the blank.
00:12:20
Speaker
I want you to get really clear on how much you want and the life you want to live and be proud of those desires. Yeah. I want you to write down the number. Okay. Is it 500,000? Is it 437,000? Is it a million? I don't know. Only you know.
00:12:40
Speaker
how much money you want and need to be rich, to live your most authentic life.
Cultivating a Positive Relationship with Money
00:12:48
Speaker
So right now, write it down. And if any part of you feels guilty or wrong as you're writing that down, remind yourself you are worthy of a rich life.
00:13:01
Speaker
Tip number three, shift your energy. When you feel good about money, you're much more likely to attract more money. So if you find yourself feeling worried or sad about a lack of money, which is normal, we've all been there, okay? I want you to do this. Start dancing. Okay, no really, start dancing.
00:13:24
Speaker
When we move our bodies, we create an energetic shift. It's science, okay? So while you dance, I want you to repeat these phrases. Mo money? No problem. Mo money? No problem. My vibe is my currency. I easily find abundance. Money flows like water to me. And on and on. And while you're saying these things, and you're dancing, I want you to smile to yourself because no one's watching. Okay?
00:13:53
Speaker
And again, all that you have to lose is that rich life you've been desperately dreaming about. So dance with me. Our goal is to shift you into a positive and magnetic frame of mind as quickly as possible and to trust in what you cannot see. And the best way to do that is to get your body, your energy, and your mind on the same page as your cognitive desires, okay?
00:14:18
Speaker
And you're gonna feel silly? I felt ridiculous the first time I did it. That's okay. You won't feel ridiculous a few seconds in when you realize it's working. Okay? And it may take a little longer for you to fully believe in what you're saying. That's okay too. Be patient. Keep saying it. With time, you're going to be able to drop into this new magnetic frame of mind. No money, no problem. With less energy and maybe even without having to have a dance party.
00:14:48
Speaker
Your mind is just going to remember and go there. It's a beautiful thing. Tip number four on how to shift your money mindset so that you have more abundance and a richer life is to give more with grace. And I know that seems counterintuitive. If you're wanting more money, you're like, ah, holding on really tight to my purse strings. I don't have any money to give right now, Tiffany. Okay.
00:15:15
Speaker
I bet you can give a really nice smile to someone and then work your way up. I want you to give really gracious tips. I want you to give to charity. I want you to give to someone who has less than you to give to someone in need. Next time you go pay the cashier at the grocery store or the barista at the coffee shop, just mentally give them the thanks for their service.
00:15:38
Speaker
Say to yourself, I am so happy to give you this money because it means I am able to nourish myself. Or it means I'm able to have this really happy cup of latte that just brings me so much joy every day. I am so grateful to give you this money in exchange for these goods. That's an option of how you can give with grace and work your way up to being able to actually give monetarily too.
00:16:08
Speaker
I want you to literally start expressing gratitude even in instances where it seems silly because it isn't easy to undo the years of negative inner dialogue about spending money. If you were told or you witnessed at an early age arguments between loved ones or just tough times that were because of money, a lot of us have.
00:16:33
Speaker
We're trying to rewire years, sometimes decades of our truth. It doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen bit by bit. So every time you're a little bit more gracious and a little bit more giving and a little bit more grateful for every moment you have to let that money energetically exchange hands, you're chipping away at that limiting belief.
00:16:59
Speaker
When you're tense about spending money, you're sending a signal to the universe that money is hard to come by. And the universe responds by hearing your truth and keeping your wallet empty. But if you give with gratitude,
00:17:15
Speaker
You're telling the universe money is easy to come by and I understand that as I give more comes back to me It's an energetic exchange and therefore the universe is gonna be like cool Here are some more opportunities to fatten up your wallet. Here's some more money gratitude really is the great multiplier so give with more grace and
00:17:36
Speaker
and watch the changes that unfold. If you're familiar with the secret or the power Rhonda Byrne says, never pay your bills when you don't feel good because you will just bring bigger bills to you. I know that's hard, but you can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. Tip number five of our seven ways to change our money mindset. I want you to tap into your gratitude frequency through play, through a game, okay?
00:18:06
Speaker
When you have a scarcity mindset, you're acting out of fear, and fear is not an energy that attracts, it actually repels. And when you're experiencing gratitude, you raise your frequency, which attracts more opportunities and more money. I'm sure you've heard this before, but think about it as it relates to money. It's impossible to focus on one thing and see another. So if you're focused on your gratitude for what you have, you can't possibly also be thinking about what you lack.
00:18:36
Speaker
Let that sink in. Okay. When I realized I had a scarcity mindset, I started playing a gratitude game with my money. That's what I want to share with you today. I still play this game to this very day because I believe our mindset is a continuous work in progress. It can continuously be strengthened and flexed.
00:18:57
Speaker
I'm not ready to quit. I'm not ready to give up. I want my mindset to be like rock hard solid, right? So here's what you're going to do. Open up your wallet, turn all of your bills so that they're facing up in the same direction in your wallet, okay? Your cash money, your bills, your literal bills. Turn them all face up in the same direction.
00:19:19
Speaker
Now, every time you place a new bill in your wallet, you're going to take the time to face it in the same direction and you're going to say, thank you.
00:19:32
Speaker
Okay, now if you have a bunch of ones, this is even more impactful, but if you just have like a few pieces of cashola, just do whatever you can, but you're just gonna turn it in the same direction, place it on top of your pile and say, thank you, I love you, money. I love you because you allow me to fill in the blank.
00:19:54
Speaker
live comfortably in my home. I love you money because you allow me to nourish my body. I love you money because you allow me to drive this car down the highway, put gas in it, and it gets me from one destination to the other. I love you money because you allow me to go to dinner with my friends or treat a friend to something that she wasn't expecting or whatever it is, okay?
00:20:19
Speaker
Every time you're putting bills in your wallet, you're going to do this practice. Now there were times where I would be in the grocery store line or checking out and I would get a bunch of dollars, you know, bills handed back to me and I was like, Oh my God, they're going to think I'm crazy. I did it anyway. I did it anyway, because you know what matters more to me? My monetary wellbeing matters more to me than what some stranger thinks of me in line at the grocery store.
00:20:50
Speaker
So again, I told you when we started this conversation, there's going to be things I ask you to do that might make you feel a little silly. Please, please, please don't give up on yourself. Okay. And just laugh about it. It's silly. It's funny. Who cares? It gives you, it's actually a great conversation starter. Tell them what you're up to. Okay. Working on your money mindset. Hell yeah, you are.
00:21:13
Speaker
Now, if you don't have actual bills, you can do this with your credit cards too. You probably have a couple of those in your wallet, right? Turn them all in the same direction. Say thank you credit card. Thank you for the abundance.
00:21:25
Speaker
Thank you. You're literally money with my name on it. Thank you for what you open up in my world. This whole little game cultivates a really positive mindset toward money because literally every time someone hands you back a bill, you are immediately taking a moment to give mental thanks for what it brings to your life. And here's the real trick. If I gave someone a 20 and they gave me back three ones,
00:21:50
Speaker
Guess what I didn't do? I didn't think about the fact that I had lost $17. I thought about what that $17 had just gotten me and the three that just came back my way and how thankful I was for those $3 and what they're going to bring into my life next. Okay. It really is a flip of the narrative.
Visualizing Financial Goals
00:22:12
Speaker
Tip number six. I want you to feel excitement for a future that you can't see yet.
00:22:19
Speaker
So let's say you need $28,000 to buy a new car.
00:22:25
Speaker
Okay, I want you to fill out a check for that exact amount, $28,000. And I want you to hang it on your mirror or by your desk somewhere that you see and sit every single day. Now for this to work, you have to go a step further, okay? You can't just look at the check and expect the car to arrive, okay? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. You've got to bring your emotions into the game. You have to look at that check.
00:22:50
Speaker
every day and physically feel excited for that car being in your life.
00:22:57
Speaker
You have to be so grateful for that upgrade that you could literally jump up and down with joy. Okay? And when you see someone else driving around in your dream car, you've got to be excited for them too. Be happy for what you cannot see and welcome that frequency into your life because the universe is paying attention to your reactions. If you feel sad or envious, your bad feelings are saying no to that dream car.
00:23:25
Speaker
If you feel happy and excited, you're saying, yes, bring me that car. I'm ready for you. I'm so grateful for it already. When I was robbed a couple of years ago, I wrote down on a piece of paper how much I was hoping to get from my insurance company to replace everything in my house.
00:23:44
Speaker
And let me be honest, it was not a fun season of time. It was a very detailed robbery. I had identity theft. I had an FBI agent involved. It was a very complex scheme with someone that they didn't even know his real full name. There was multiple identities going on with one of the individuals.
00:24:04
Speaker
multiple names and it was just a very complex robbery and it consumed a lot of my life and I was trying so hard to find the bright spot and all of that so I wrote down on a piece of paper how much I was hoping to get from my insurance company to replace everything that had been stolen and I hung it by my desk and I looked at it multiple times a day and I felt the joy that came from knowing that I could replace the items I needed to make my house feel like a home again and to make you know to make this kind of
00:24:33
Speaker
experience feel like it didn't matter. It was just a blip on my radar.
00:24:38
Speaker
And when the insurance company finally sent me a check months later, and if you've ever had to deal with an insurance claim, you know, it's not black and white. You don't usually just tell them what you lost and the values of it. And then they just give you that check. It's a very complicated system. And when the insurance company finally sent me a check months later, it was within $500 of my ideal number. Now here's the kicker. It was actually $500 more than my ideal number.
00:25:07
Speaker
If this, what I'm asking you to do is powerful, but you've got to get your emotions behind it. Every day that I get in my Porsche, I don't tell a lot of people this, okay? But I do. I drive a Porsche, I love her. I love her. I was never a fancy car gal, okay? I was always so practical with my cars.
00:25:28
Speaker
But a couple of years ago, I was just like, you know what? She's calling my name and that's what I want. And I could not believe that I was even able to bring her into my life. And I did. And I paid for her in cash and she got delivered to me and I was just floating on cloud nine. And let me tell you something. Just a few days ago, I got in her and I was just so freaking grateful for her.
00:25:51
Speaker
I get flooded with emotions every time I get in her, not because of the fact that she's a Porsche, but because of how she feels to me, how safe I feel in her, and how much she represents to me, this notion that if you want something and you work really hard and you believe it to be true,
00:26:09
Speaker
It's yours. It gets to be yours and it gets to be easy. And I'm a big believer that you don't just like squander it. You don't just, you know, you've got to continue to show up with gratitude. You've got to continue to be grateful for everything that the world gives you. Okay?
Playful Money Mindset: The Cheetos Theory
00:26:29
Speaker
So that's tip number six. Now tip number seven, the Cheetos story. I know you're waiting for this.
00:26:37
Speaker
Think of money like Cheetos. This is how we're going to change your money mindset. Okay. When I realized that one of my limiting beliefs,
00:26:47
Speaker
about 2017, was that money was hard to come by or hard to make. I made up this game with my friend and it involved Cheetos. I don't even eat Cheetos. I mean, once in a blue moon I do now because of the symbolism, but it's not like I was a big Cheetos fan, okay? It's just a funny word, it's a funny chip, whatever, Cheetos. Okay, trust me, I have watched this silly little trick work magic in my life.
00:27:15
Speaker
And so many of my friends and clients lives. So here is what I want you to do. I want you to pretend that money and Cheetos are one and the same. We're really stretching your imagination here, okay? But Cheetos are easy to find, right?
00:27:32
Speaker
Like, okay, think about it. Where would you go right now? If you had to go get more Cheetos, where would you go? The convenience store down the street, the grocery store, the dollar store, the 7-Eleven. Sometimes I can even find a bag of Cheetos in my sister's pantry. They're at the airport. They're in the hotel mini bar.
00:27:48
Speaker
Cheetos are easy to find. I don't think we're ever gonna run out of Cheetos. I don't think Cheetos are going anywhere, okay? Now, I want you to go get some of those small, lunchbox-sized bags of Cheetos, and I want you to put them in places that you see on a regular basis. So, every time you open your cabinet to grab a coffee mug, I want you to see that bag of Cheetos. And think to yourself,
00:28:13
Speaker
Money is so easy to find. Oh look, I just found more Cheetos. I just found more money. There was a point in my life where I had Cheetos in my coffee mug cabinet. I had Cheetos in my makeup drawer. I had Cheetos next to my desk. Little bags of Cheetos, okay? And every time I saw that bag of Cheetos, I couldn't help but kind of giggle, chuckle, and be like, man, I love Cheetos. Man, I love money.
00:28:41
Speaker
Right? I gave my friends Cheetos. If you're having a season or your friends having a season where money feels tight, postmates them a bag of Cheetos to their door and then send them a link to this podcast episode if they're not already in on our secret Cheetos theory. Okay. So they'll know what it means. Send them Cheetos.
00:28:57
Speaker
I did this to a friend and literally an hour later she called me, you'll never believe it. I just got a brand new contract signed CO delivered deposit paid in full an hour after you sent me the freaking cheetos. She was coming out of a kind of a dry spell with her business. I know it sounds woo.
00:29:15
Speaker
And I can't sit here and promise to you that when you go buy a bag of Cheetos, a thousand dollars is going to land in your lap. But I can promise you this. If you get on board this Cheetos theory and you start thinking about money as Cheetos and Cheetos as money, you're going to notice a shift around your ideas on how easy it is to find money. And all of a sudden, you're going to have an epiphany of a new way in which you can find some money, a new way in which you can make some money. What do you have to lose?
00:29:45
Speaker
Now, here's another way to make it really fun. I love to sing lyrics and words. I'm just, you know, maybe you're like me and you're kind of, kind of geeky like that, but just happens. It just comes out of my mouth. So I'll take a couple of words or lyrics to a song and I'll change it up. So for example,
00:30:03

it's raining Cheetos, right? Instead of it's raining men or what can make me feel this way? Cheetos. Okay, find a song, switch up the lyrics

Insert the word Cheetos. This is not supposed to be serious. This is supposed to feel light and fun because what I want to do is counteract the serious, heavy feeling that you might be carrying around around money. Every time you notice yourself stressed about how you're going to make more money, I want you to just think about those orange, crunchy Cheetos and how easy they are to find.

The truth is there are plenty of Cheetos in the world for all of us. And if Chris and Liz down the street make a bunch of money, it doesn't mean there's gonna be less money for you, right? If Chris and Liz down the street go to the store and buy some Cheetos, it doesn't mean there's no Cheetos for you.

Money is out there and the universe wants you to have it and live your best life. But you have to believe, you deserve it in your head and in your heart and you have to put in the work to heal your money mindset, release your limiting beliefs.

Okay, now go get those Cheetos, babe. If you're a fan of Heather McMahon, you may be familiar or she's got a funny little catchphrase. And I think we should have her own. And it's gonna be, you guessed it, Cheetos. So say it to me, send it to me. We will have a Google. I will know what it means. And I will send you those good Cheetos juju vibes every time you send me the word Cheetos. If you see me out and about, just walk up and say Cheetos.

Got you babe. Okay more money more money more money a rich rich abundant life is in your future

Now I have one last thing to say because this is possibly the most important thing of all. When you're working on your money mindset, if you are surrounded by people who don't get it or don't believe in your ability to make more money with more ease or just kind of feel like a negative Nancy, that point of friction is going to slow you down.
00:32:18

And it happens to the best of us and it happens with people who have the best of intentions. Like you might have a loved one, a partner, a mom, a dad who just doesn't get it, okay? We're not all on the same journey at the same time. So you have a few options. You can choose to protect your piece, hold a couple of your cards a little closer to your chest so that they can't rain on your Cheetos parade, okay?
00:32:44
Speaker
And I highly suggest that you intentionally surround yourself with wealth positive people. So people who are either a step ahead of you or people who are going through this monetary energetic up level alongside you.

I don't believe I would have experienced the sizable shifts that I did back in 2017 if I hadn't been working on my money mindset with a coach who was also encouraging me simultaneously to raise my prices and showing me that abundance was available to me because it was available to her

And I had a best friend who was willing to have these woo woo cheetos conversations with me. I believe that it was the compound effect of all of those things that created that incubator, if you will, for me to truly experience some sizable shifts in my money reality.
