Speaker
for real all right welcome back to fright central again i'm doc and i'm back here again with kec how you doing buddy
00:00:22
Speaker
I'm all right, man. What's going on with you? It's like actually been like only like a couple of weeks since our last past rather than like two months. Yeah. So yeah. And we both want something too so that we can get back. Yeah, we're both we're both in sync. So anyway, tonight we're going to talk about a little bit about like what has been happening currently in the events on the news.

San Diego Comic Con highlights

00:00:48
Speaker
Yeah, I got a lot of like.
00:00:51
Speaker
Yeah, I got a lot of different news items that dropped recently, especially from San Diego Comic Con. What's up? There was a new teaser or trailer for season two of Chucky, which is going to come out in October, October. No, I'm reading the wrong thing. Hold on. I've already lost it.
00:01:14
Speaker
Well, I'll just, while you're finding it, I'll just say I did not see the first season of Chucky. I think I talked a little bit about this when we, in the past, cast saying that the latest movie that I saw of Chucky traumatized me. So unlike All Childs, played out for a while.
00:01:48
Speaker
but they failed terribly. It was the worst trial to play ever made. And, man, that was a very, very low bar. An inch to get lower. Yeah, I've already forgotten about that reboot because the series completely ignores all that and just continues from the original movies. Yeah, the way it was meant to be. demonic doll, not robot.
00:01:52
Speaker
of the like the
00:02:16
Speaker
Yeah, and I know I've heard that I haven't watched the trailer yet either, because I'm already going to watch the series, but they're bringing Glenn, Glenda back from what was it, Sea to Chucky. Glenn or Glenda, like Ed Wood? Yeah, kind of. It's basically in homage to that. Is it Glenn or Glenda? We don't know.
00:02:38
Speaker
Yeah, pretty much and like where we left off the planner Glenda got split from the doll into these twins one boy and one girl. So I actually think it was a Edward reference. That's cool. Yeah.

Vampire series previews

00:02:52
Speaker
Yeah.
00:02:54
Speaker
The, uh, the big one that dropped was the, uh, Oh, I didn't find the date of when that was going to come out. I mean, if I come across it later on, I'll mention it again, but I think you said it was October. It looks like a, uh, something called Reginald, the vampires premiere in October 5th. Uh, it's not as stereotypical vampire, not smoldering or sexy. It's just an average guy who has been by vampire then given eternal life.
00:03:20
Speaker
Oh, wow. Yeah. Like they looked at the vampire genre. It's like, damn, this thing's been beaten to all shit. Like, where are we going to go from here? All right. Well, it's not your average vampire. Like, oh, God. That reminds me there's a. Everything's been done, but fuck it. Yeah. Well, there's a new movie coming out, I believe this week or it's coming out in August. I know that called Day Shift with Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg, where they're like vampire hunters.
00:03:48
Speaker
Oh, really? Yeah, it's like they do it like during the day and he only does it for like cash and shit like that. So he's kind of like a mercenary. Oh, no, the trailer didn't look too bad. I'll check it out. I mean, it's going to be. Yeah, I mean, vampire hunting during the day is kind of for pussies, though, isn't it? Like, you know what I mean? Like, who the fuck is going to like, you know what I mean? It like takes all the sport out. I think that's the like, that's the smart way to do it, though.
00:04:13
Speaker
Well, it also can be difficult because it's unless you know where their layer is. If you know where their layer is, then yeah, that may be a smart time to do it. But like otherwise, it's kind of the bitch move like. Yeah, sure. But yeah, the big one was for an interview of the vampire TV series for AMC. That's Tom Cruise didn't know he was in that vampire movie till two years later. It's both finger reference.
00:04:43
Speaker
Uh, the, uh, series will air on October 2nd. Uh, the, it's a direct spin-off of interview with vampire. It's a completely new, uh, it's not a spin-off, it's a completely new, uh, adaptation of the books here, of the book. I was wondering if they had like, um, characters like Lestat in it. Like, you know, I mean, it's like, yes, yes, they do. All right. So it's got like, it's related to that, but it's like not directly, um,
00:05:13
Speaker
It's not like directly like linked into the movie. No, it's basically like a remake of the movie, but they made it into a TV. So what they made into a series. Yeah. So they can, you know, get even more deep into it, I guess. Well, that's pretty cool because I really like the story of the review with the vampire. I especially liked how, like, you know,
00:05:33
Speaker
How Antonio Banderas with character

Walking Dead universe updates

00:05:36
Speaker
was sort of like I'm like, to my knowledge, I'm the longest living vampire. Like I think he said he was alive for like four or 500 years or something like that.
00:05:47
Speaker
And yeah, I thought it was really cool how they went like through the technological ages and how when cinema came to life, he was able to see like the sun for the first time on the screen. I really liked how they went through like the course of the vampire's life through like narration with Christian Slater as the meaning. Yeah. That's cool. That's actually, you know, I talk a lot shit on vampire stuff. That's actually something I check out.
00:06:13
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, there hasn't really been a lot of vampire stuff, especially compared to like zombies. There hasn't really been a lot of vampire stuff. Do you want to stick by that comment compared to zombie stuff in the past, like 10 years? You mean in like the past few years? All right. Yeah. Yeah. Like I'm not saying there isn't any vampire stuff. There still is. It's just hasn't been as big as like the Walking Dead.
00:06:37
Speaker
You know what I mean? Yeah, in the past few years. All right. Yes. In the recent past, I agree with you. Yeah. And I think I like preferred that way where there's only like a little bit at a time. Like then then every once in a while, a good one will like come out and you're not overloaded with a ton of different, you know, you were just really overloaded for a while. Like, yeah. Yeah. A while.
00:07:04
Speaker
The Twilight and everything like, oh my God. Yeah. But, yeah, speaking of being overloaded with zombies in The Walking Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, the newest spinoff of The Walking Dead series, the views of August 14th, it's an anthology series and it's the series is going to consist of six one hour episodes, each are standalone story.
00:07:29
Speaker
And this is a spin off of The Walking Dead or spin off of Fear The Walking Dead? I guess both. All of it. It's all right. So it's because Fear The Walking Dead was a spin off of The Walking Dead. So this is a spin off of this mental. OK. No, it's I would say it's been off of the original series because one of the characters, Alpha is is in the trailer is going to be like it was narrating one of the episodes in the trailer or whatever.
00:07:56
Speaker
So it's basically like a more of a spin off of the main series, but the fear of the walking dead, you know, it's hide back in. There's characters that cross over and stuff. Yeah, I'm aware of that. I would assume I would assume it's just in that world. There's going to be a standalone story. So it's going to take place throughout the different times.
00:08:17
Speaker
And then there's another spin off. Remember that Rick Rhimes movie that was supposed to come out? They were talking about they were going to do three of them. They were going to do something about his sole character. Yeah. Yeah. Well, now they've decided to change that into a limited series. That's going to be like six episodes instead of three movies. And it's going to be him and Michonne, basically.
00:08:42
Speaker
And it's going to be, uh, I think it's just right now, I don't think it is titles, just like walking dead, Rick and Michelle or whatever. Is it going to be a direct sequel? Like Michonne like finds him. Do you, I believe so. Okay. So like afterwards Michonne kind of like goes on the quest because his, like, um, basically like his, um,
00:09:05
Speaker
I would call it an evacuation from this the series. I think that's pretty accurate. They literally came in and choppered his character out of there. Very strange. Well, you have no idea where he's been taken or why. Yeah, I think I think it'll probably pick up right from where he's been, or at least there'll be flashbacks to like, you know, where he's been between when he left and like, you know, the end of the series.
00:09:32
Speaker
It was just really bizarre because like you have no I like she was like they were like, do you have an A or a B or something like that? Yeah. Yeah. I have a B or I have an A or something. They would chopper them off and hand hooked up to an IV and like just took them away. Like he was like some grand prize or something. I have no fucking idea. It was like that actor went up to the fucking company, just like what's his name? Who was the crazed Charles?
00:10:00
Speaker
Oh, God.
00:10:18
Speaker
This is my last fucking episode. I've decided. I don't care how you do it. The next episode, you guys are writing me the fuck out of it. Yeah. Well, he always wanted to go off and like they were always planned on doing movies and he had signed like I know that he had said that he was planning on leaving. I know he didn't want to do the series anymore, but he was going to do the movies. And I guess they were like, well, we have so much. I'm like, let's just make it a six episode.
00:10:44
Speaker
limited series of set of three movies, which I think is better. His exit from the show was just really bizarre. Yeah, they could have just killed them off. But obviously, if they had planned to do this.
00:10:57
Speaker
They didn't want this character to die, but you know what they often do in like The Walking Dead, they could have made it look like he died. Like they couldn't find him after the explosion. It would have been the perfect way to get rid of, you know, they, they don't, is he dead? Did he live? Did he turn into a zombie? We don't know. Instead he got choppered off by some mysterious helicopter with like some weird
00:11:21
Speaker
It was a very bizarre way to do it, but I guess. Yeah, they started to get into a little bit of that in the world beyond. I didn't watch the second season yet, but they were starting to touch on like what that organization was in that story already written. Then that was.
00:11:39
Speaker
They knew where they were going with it and that's why they did it that way.

Children of the Corn remake news

00:11:43
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And then like, uh, I'm still, I think I might be a season behind a fear of the walking dead actually. And I haven't started this season, season 11, the final season. Um, just cause like it's, I haven't gotten around to it and it's been like, you know, they've started airing it last like October and they keep taking like those breaks and shit. Cause it's like they've been airing this in like three parts. Cause I think it's almost like 20 some episodes or whatever.
00:12:08
Speaker
28 episodes I think. I stopped watching Fear the Walking Dead when they killed my girl off.
00:12:15
Speaker
Jesus Christ, I love her. I can't think of her name right now. The daughter, I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, the mother? Yeah, the mother. She's been in everything. She was she featured in Deadwood. I want to say Kim Kim Jennings, I think maybe her name is Kimberly Jennings. I'm not shit. I love her. I can't. You know, her name always me right now. But once they killed her character off because she's an A-list actress. I love her. She's been in so much stuff.
00:12:45
Speaker
Um, and, uh, you know, when they killed her off, I was just like, Oh fuck, I have no investment in this story anymore. Because for a little while, I actually sort of started to prefer fear of the walking dead. Yeah, I did too, for a bit.
00:13:00
Speaker
The Walking Dead story had just gone so stale for me. Fear of the Walking Dead was like, it was the same, but like different enough. Where I was like, you know what, I'm actually starting to kind of be invested in these characters. I stopped watching Walking Dead. And when they killed her off, then that just went fucking downhill. Like a fucking boulder. So I was just like, ugh.
00:13:26
Speaker
But I plan to start the final season since the part three of the final season starts Sunday, October 2nd. Yeah. So maybe I'll start watching it finally. So it starts on like episode 17. So I think there's like 10 episodes or something like that. I forget how many it was. But yeah, it's like they spread this out over a year. And so that's why I was like, I'm not going to watch a week to week because there's going to be months in between where there's nothing on. So it's like, oh, yeah. So why not? Yeah, exactly.
00:13:56
Speaker
And then there's an other spin-off that was supposed to be the Daryl and Carol spin-off the actress I Think her name was Melissa She backed out of it. So it's just gonna be a Daryl show now as well So yeah become he had become the most popular character I know like in terms of like fan ratings Yeah, they're all had become the most popular character. I think um, I
00:14:25
Speaker
He had Rick was the most popular character for a while because they had like the AMC were showing that like characters by popularity for a while. They had it like every week you could go on the website. I think they even had an app where like you could like raid in like every week for whom you like the most as character. And I know Daryl had surpassed him in popularity at one point.
00:14:50
Speaker
Oh, there's some video game on the PlayStation Store where I just call him Darrell. I don't know his name or he's in some kind of sci-fi game on the PlayStation Store. I don't know anything about it, but I just was like, oh, Darrell. So but that's cool. I mean, his character is very, very popular. So I mean, I could definitely see him doing like some kind of spin off or something like that.
00:15:18
Speaker
like maybe like he finds out that he's got like a long lost uncle who is also like an identical twin so they could bring Michael Walker back. There you go. Now we got a fucking story.
00:15:36
Speaker
his brother's, he had another brother that was also Michael Roker. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Or his dad is just also played by Michael Roker. Michael Roker was his brother, not his uncle. So he would have had a twin. Michael Roker would have had a twin brother. Yeah. That Darrell had never met. And they just bring Roker back. Yeah. It's done. Yeah. And like Darrell saw like
00:16:05
Speaker
girl, I thought you were a zombie. And it's just like, no, like that was my identical twin brother. We just have never met. Yeah. And then the other spinoff that they've been talking about is the Negan and Maggie go to New York spinoff. I think it's called Isle of the Dead.
00:16:28
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's what they're calling it. It might be called Island. Everybody's just getting spin off. Yeah, I wish they didn't announce all these until after they finish the final season because it's like, oh, hey, this is the final season. You don't know who's going to survive. Oh, except for this character, this character, this character, this character, this character, because they all have spin offs.
00:16:51
Speaker
like I think it was during the 2016 election cycle. Bill Maher had Sarah Silverman on as a guest and he had asked her like who she wanted for president. She was just like Negan.
00:17:11
Speaker
And that was back when he was like evil, like now he's kind of come good and stuff. So I got to say, I think even the evil Negan would have made a better president. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Like, I'm not going to get into politics. I'm saying this when she said that, like she wasn't even talking about like good Negan. She was talking about. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Oh, that's it. That's it for the Walking Dead news, which was like happy. His vice president could have been that baseball bat.
00:17:40
Speaker
Lucille.
00:17:51
Speaker
Um, then we, uh, moving on to, uh, the Apple TV's monster verse series, you know, the whole Godzilla King Kong. I'm aware of that monster verse exists. Yep. Yeah. Well, they've, uh, announced some of the first casting members who are, uh, Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell. Done. Yeah. Done.
00:18:13
Speaker
You know, um, I don't want to get off track on this because I could just stop me, but, um, I was watching a, um, special very recently about like the, um, Arizona lights, like that, uh, phenomena, the UFO lights that were over Arizona. It was like a huge thing. Kurt Russell was actually one of the people that witnessed that.
00:18:38
Speaker
He was, I didn't realize he was coming on like a private plane and he saw those lights and was one of the first people to call in to aviation power and say like, yo, I see all these fucking lights like Kurt Russell.
00:18:54
Speaker
I just wanted to add that. Well, his son was with him. Yeah. And, you know, his son was like a little kid, but was like, dad, like, what the fuck is all that? You know what I mean? I don't know if his son had a potty mouth at that age, but, you know, he pointed it out and like Kurt Russell, like, you know, called it in. Hey, this is Kurt Russell. Like there's lights.
00:19:23
Speaker
Well, speaking of aliens, your favorite franchise, A Quiet Place. Oh, yeah. The next installment is going to be a prequel and it's called The Quiet Place Day One. So exactly what I'd been telling you that they were going to go back and do an origin story of day one. They're doing it and it's going to be written and directed by the guy who did Pig, Michael Sarnowski. I did like that movie.
00:19:53
Speaker
Hey, that was, that was tripped out. But you know, my vision for a quiet place part three would just be that it was all a dream. Like Emily just like wakes up and she was like, Oh, well that was fucked up. Well, at least now we're going to see how the government was taken down so quickly. Or we won't.
00:20:12
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I mean, it's going to be called day one. So I would assume that they're going to cover all that. I really don't know. Yeah, I guess at this point I don't. They could just, you know, go into like where there's no explanation at all about anything. It could be a silent film. You know, who knows? Like, you know, I mean, like it could be all gestures or they go into like some clicks and whistle system.
00:20:38
Speaker
you know, that fucks with the aliens so they can't detect like who the hell knows where the writing's going to go with that. Yeah, no idea. That's all I have to say. At least we know it's not going to be a sequel, but a prequel instead. So yeah, I'll say I think that that's a positive thing that it's a prequel, not a sequel. I'll give them that. That would be the direction if I had to continue the franchise. That's where I would have

Evil Dead Rise preview buzz

00:21:03
Speaker
taken it. And I guess
00:21:04
Speaker
Like if I was a money man, if I was a producer, I probably would continue the franchise because despite my personal feelings, it has been received pretty well overall. A lot of people that like The Quiet Place. So although I personally did not like it, I know it was well-received. I just think all the sequels that they should have done should have called somebody else and not the same family again.
00:21:32
Speaker
Like I think that was the second one. I think we discussed that and you pitched that idea. And I said, if they had gone in that direction, that would have like basically alleviated all the negative feelings I had about the second installment.
00:21:54
Speaker
So yeah, I would have been behind that like the whole way. Yeah, I wish they had listened to you. Yeah, me too. Or this podcast, right? Yeah. Like everybody does. Like Dexter. Like, you know what I mean? Yeah. Those guys never even thanked us.
00:22:17
Speaker
The Evil Dead Rise movie that's supposed to be released sometime this year had just had a preview screening recently and it got such positive reviews that Bruce Campbell said that they are thinking about putting into theaters instead of straight to streaming. I was hoping they were gonna bring back Ash versus Evil Dead. I was very upset with that and I thought that could have went on for another couple seasons
00:22:45
Speaker
I understand that there were like a lot of conflicts and that they had initially intended to add another season onto it. Yeah, there's just budget and not enough people watching. Yeah, I got to tell you, like, um, I don't know who these people are because I thought that was a real quality shell. I think because it was on stars, I think that that hurt them because that network is not as popular. I think it was on like HBO.
00:23:15
Speaker
And the budget was larger and they maybe got like some other like, uh, actors of like higher note caliber. Like, you know what I mean? With like maybe some like even that I thought the writing was, I mean, it could have been better, but I thought it was solid enough. You know what I mean? I should have just, I mean, I don't think they needed to like, you know, blow up the budget more. They just needed to be on a, on a,
00:23:42
Speaker
more popular network, even Showtime or HBO. Yeah. Like you said, there's been some good things that have come out of stars like black sales was like very, very, very popular. And, you know, I'm just, I'm just saying, like, I think, like, obviously if it had been on HBO, it probably would have seen at least one more season. And I think if there was more money, like more money, usually
00:24:08
Speaker
leads to greater success is what I'm saying. Well, there's talks of a of an evil that animated series with Bruce Campbell doing the voice of it because he said he's really acting in it. But he was like, well, he was like, my body can't handle the role anymore. But he was like, yeah, I can still voice it. So, yeah, where's Bruce at in age? I mean, he's got to be getting up there. Yeah, I don't know his exact age right now offhand. But yeah, he's he's definitely getting up there. Yeah.
00:24:36
Speaker
Yeah, no, I understand what it is. I mean, it is a, I mean, unless he was going to play, like, unless he was going to be like the father where his son was doing all the fighting or something like that. And like, he was able to sit back because yeah, now that I was thinking like, well, it's not that physically demanding of role.
00:24:57
Speaker
Yeah, it kind of is. Yeah. It required him to do a lot of fighting. Like there was a lot of hand to hand combat. A lot of fighting himself. Yeah. And for some reason, like he stuck with the original weapon, which was a two barrel, 12 gauge shotgun. He never upgraded. Even then, like, just attack. Yeah. And the chainsaw. He changed for the chainsaw to the hand, but then he always went back to the chainsaw.
00:25:23
Speaker
He was just like, no, you know, I could go with like a machine gun or, you know, access, like, you know, military surplus, like it's America. So like AR 15 is our, you know, at the Walmart. So like, but he was like, no, I'm just going to go with this old drink. You think shotgun two rounds at a time. That's all I need. Fuck it. Yeah. That was what works. Right. Well, hey, man, I'll tell you, um, more evil dead, uh,
00:25:50
Speaker
the merrier in my opinion. I love Bruce. I love the story. I could see tons of potential from animation because I love the drawings of the creatures and all that stuff.
00:26:04
Speaker
So, yeah, I could I could definitely get into something like that. That's good news. And when is that movie supposed to release? Oh, they haven't announced that briefly, didn't it? It hasn't been announced yet. They just said fall of two thousand twenty three point or two at twenty. So sorry. Twenty twenty two. I think it was I thought I had remembered hearing that it was pushed back. I thought it was supposed to come out like late summer or something like that.
00:26:31
Speaker
I thought I could be mistaken. Yeah, I think I think at the original release date was probably earlier this this year. And then I got back to the fall. But now I think it was going to go straight to streaming. But now they had such a positive screening that they're thinking about releasing in theaters now. So I would like it to go streaming. But you know what? Fuck it. Maybe we'll do one of those combo things. You never know. Yeah, maybe we'll say. I mean, we still got that Predator movie coming out on August 5th.
00:27:03
Speaker
I'm excited for that. I got actually a free screening to go see in theaters the day before it comes out on Hulu.
00:27:11
Speaker
I'm like excited that there's pressure, but I mean, other than that, I mean, you know, my, I'll say this, my expectations are so low at this point that if like the story is just some semi-coherent and makes a little bit of sense and like the acting is just decent, it would be a win.
00:27:40
Speaker
Where are you on that? Yeah, I mean, for the little teasers I saw, it looked pretty good. So I mean, I'm definitely interested. It's just they had a great cast the last time around. There's no reason why that movie couldn't have been somewhat. Oh, yeah. They had a good cast. Yeah. This was going back to it's more of the roots of just being more in the jungle, not dealing with like
00:28:06
Speaker
all that shit. So I had, I actually had a, I guess it was sort of a nightmare about that movie. And, um, which McCall, it was weird. There was a reversal where Thomas Jane was the Marine guy who was kicking ass. And the Marine guy played Thomas Jane, who was like the mental handicap and it like the roles reversed. And like, I just like woke up and I was like, what the fuck?
00:28:35
Speaker
I just thought I'd share that. But like, yeah, like that movie actually gave me nightmares. So that happened. And a terrible and not a good horror movie. I mean, like being someone that appreciates horror, not all my nightmares are actually bad. Like if they scare me, that's not necessarily a bad thing. I wake up horrified all the time. Sometimes I'm like, well, you know, that's kind of cool.
00:29:04
Speaker
But like, you know what I mean? That was not a good nightmare. So, you know, anyway, moving on. The remake of The Children of the Corn is finally be released this fall. Apparently that's been done for like two years now. You caught me totally off guard with that. I had no idea that was even in the works.
00:29:28
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't either. But yeah, it's apparently it's been done for like two years. Yeah, Louis already been screened publicly but not fully released. Really? Yeah. Now, in the past, when you've heard cases of that, has that usually been a positive or negative thing? Usually negative when they try to bury something like that.
00:29:56
Speaker
but it is coming to light now I'm assuming it's gonna go direct the stream I don't know they said it could be in movie theaters or straight to VOD depending on
00:30:09

how things go, I guess. I don't know if they plan on doing other screening. I thought you said it's already been publicly screened. Yeah, like once. So that means they could go back and do some reshoots if it didn't go well. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Get back into those focus groups. Yeah.
00:30:27
Speaker
Uh, yeah. Uh, yeah. So it's generally when a movie's been completely completed for two years and screened and like, I understand not really. That's usually negative. Yeah. I mean, but not releasing it during the pandemic is understandable, but like, you should, I never heard of that.
00:30:50
Speaker
Yeah, they should have like had it coming out either like earlier this year or an already announced a date for October or something like that. And you're really you really dig into this stuff. So you're constantly like every day, you know, you're looking and looking and looking. So the fact that it flew under your radar means that this was like when did you find out about just a few days ago?
00:31:14
Speaker
Uh, yeah, like six days wonder your radar then. I mean, it was like very, very obscure debt. So, um, I mean, I love the children of the court corn story, so I'll check it out. It's just like, that's like a pretty bad sign.
00:31:34
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know the way they went about it, unless I like I might have heard about it two years ago or three years ago when they first announced it and then just like didn't hear anything and forgot about it. Like that's the only way you do not doing not releasing it during the pandemic, especially if it was meant to be in theaters and they didn't want to do streaming like that.
00:31:52
Speaker
totally understandable. What you would think like if they were now going to be releasing it you would think for like a few months you would have seen like trailers on tv or you know just online there would have been like some promotion building up to it like yeah children in the corn like what's up like you remember us right and you're like yeah nothing. Yeah I don't know.
00:32:16
Speaker
Well, like maybe, uh, we'll see what, if it, when it does get announced at how much like advertising they do. So actually to see if it is going to, if like, if they, if they go onto the radar and just kind of release it, you know, it's probably not going to be very good, but they spend a lot of money on advertising. Maybe it will be, especially if it's really still dinners. We'll see. Yeah. Just off the top, off the top of your head. Can you remember the last time that like there's been a children of the corn?
00:32:44
Speaker
that has been of any no I know there hasn't been any like major like cinematic release in a long time but when's the last time that you remember even hearing because the last time I remember it was like way back when they were doing like children at corn part two part three part four like basically back in the VHS times that's the last time I
00:33:07
Speaker
Yeah and even though then you only really heard about them through like other people or like you know Fangoria magazine or something like that you didn't really yeah like they weren't advertised in those movies you know on tv so. So my point was is that there's probably a large generation right now that has never even heard of children in the court. Oh absolutely yeah so you know you would think that they would do some promo well whatever I guess we'll say
00:33:34
Speaker
Yeah, it's one of those things where like it could be it could make like it money. You know what I mean? Yeah. Or it could fucking bomb like the like Firestarter did. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah. Yeah. Where that ended up being released in theaters and on on peacock at the same time. Down in flames. Didn't make any money. Yeah. Down in flames.
00:33:59
Speaker
All right, that's pretty much all I have for from Comic Con. It was it was a lot of news. I'm not even sure if I actually covered everything from it's been so much. Oh, no, there was another thing that Marvel's What If is getting a second season and that had some Marvel zombie episode and they're spinning that off into a Marvel zombie animated thing as well.
00:34:29
Speaker
And it's going to be Marvel's Disney Plus's first like mature rating. Oh, really? Yeah. So Disney Plus has never had a mature rating before. So this is not original programming because they have introduced, you know, parental controls because they have been thrown like.
00:34:48
Speaker
I think Deadpool on there and some other. Oh, so this is the first that they've actually produced themselves. Yes, yes. That is going to have like a restricted rating where, you know, they have like the parental advisory.

Marvel Zombies mature series announcement

00:35:00
Speaker
Oh, OK. Yeah, that should be pretty cool. I mean, we still have the there's a werewolf by night Halloween special that's supposed to be coming out this year, too. So like like Marvel starting to get into more of the horror stuff, which I like. I hope Sam Raimi does
00:35:16
Speaker
does another thing, you know, in that in that Doctor Strange universe or even like our thing would be cool. I would definitely I definitely support that. The more horror content, the better in my book. Yeah, especially if it's in in what seeps into, you know, the big mainstream thing, which is right now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That would actually that's something that I would actually consider watching.
00:35:44
Speaker
Because, you know, I'm not a big fan of the genre. I've made that very clear. But, you know, if they were to branch off into some like classic horror, like I would check that out. But, yeah, I guess we'll say, well, that's cool. Yeah. The first thing that's coming up is a werewolf thing for Halloween. They don't have an actual date yet, but that's their that's their first thing that they got coming out. I think it's just supposed to be like a special. So I don't know if it's going to be like a couple of episodes or just
00:36:13
Speaker
one like movie or like even an hour movie or something like that. I don't know. Interesting. So I mean, so that's pretty much for now. But, you know, next cast, if, you know, we hear anything else, we can always update. We can always bring updates. Oh, yeah. Because especially with Halloween coming, like you're bound to hear like more titles in the next.
00:36:40
Speaker
Yeah, that was just a big news week. So I figured we just do an episode just on that. So there you go, everybody. Next episode will be a movie episode. So don't worry. Yeah. All right. Well, thanks for joining us. Thanks for joining me, Keck. And we'll catch you guys later. Sayon. Bye, everybody. Take care of yourself. Yep, you too.
