In today's reading we will finish reading the Book of Daniel with Chapters 10:20-12 and read Chapter 4:6-24 in the Book of Ezra. Today we will read about Daniel's amazing vision for the End Times given to him by Jesus himself. Then we will read Matthew Chapter 24 where Jesus refers to this vision in Daniel and confirms the same information given to Daniel, along with additional information about false prophets and messiahs. Jesus will warn us to be aware of these things that He is telling us ahead of time so that we will be encouraged and able to stand firm to the end. Jesus assures us that when we stand firm to the end WE WILL PREVAIL and arise with Him in the last days to shine like the stars!

In the book of Ezra we will read about a letter written to King Xerxes by the enemies of God's people discouraging the king from allowing the people to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple and see that the king orders that work be stopped until he says it may continue.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the fact that no matter WHAT happens GOD is in control! God told Daniel in chapter 9 that the temple would be rebuilt in times of trouble and there is, indeed trouble going on for the people. But none of this means that God is  not the one in control. Everything will happen, as we read in chapters 10-12 of Daniel, at their appointed times. The temple will still be rebuilt at its appointed time. In our reading of Matthew Chapter 24 we will see further confirmation that GOD is always in control! He is telling us things that will happen so that we may aware of them and encouraged to keep strong in our faith, knowing that if we remain faithful to God WE WILL PREVAIL. God does not give us more than we can bear. Times will be more difficult than ever in the end of times and we read today that even some of the wise will stumble, but even that God will work into good by refining and purifying people! Again: GOD IS IN CONTROL AND HE IS ON THE WINNING SIDE. WE WILL PREVAIL IF WE HOLD FIRM UNTIL THE END. The Holy Spirit will remind us of these things when the times come. He will give us ears to hear and eyes to see and hearts to understand. It is important that we be watchful for the signs of the times, the same way we can tell the seasons are approaching by the blooming plants and trees. We cannot be watchful if we are not aware of them. It is very important we share this information with others so everyone may be aware and know that they need to stand firm in the faith during the terrible end times as well as be aware of the signs of the times.

May we continually praise our wonderful, mighty, loving God for sharing this knowledge with us ahead of time!

Introduction and Bible Reading

00:00:03
Speaker
Welcome everybody. Thank you for joining me. Today is July 22nd, although it will be July 23rd by the time I get this posted today. I've had such a busy day.
00:00:15
Speaker
And thank you for joining me for our daily Bible reading. We are reading the day-by Day by Day Kids Bible, written by Karen Henley. And we are also keeping track on our commitment calendar. So if you have that, go ahead and take that out in your sticker or however you're marking it off because you are about to hear a lot of the Bible today.
00:00:40
Speaker
We have a great deal to read about today, but first I want to thank you for being here with me. Thank you for listening. And today's going to be a little bit longer because we have a lot to cover.
00:00:52
Speaker
So if you don't have all the time available right now, put this aside for a little bit until you have enough time to be able ah to listen to today's a little bit longer

God's Sovereignty and Daniel's Prophecy

00:01:02
Speaker
message. Yesterday was also a bit longer.
00:01:04
Speaker
We have a lot, to we had a lot to go over yesterday too with, with our supporting verses. that go along with our ah went along with our daily application. And today we are going to also have a supporting chapter, Matthew chapter 24, which references the chapters of Daniel that we will be reading today.
00:01:25
Speaker
Today we are going to be reading the end of Daniel. There are 12 chapters in the book of Daniel. And today we are going to be reading ah the balance of chapter 10,
00:01:38
Speaker
ah chapter 11 and 12, as well as reading in the book of Ezra for chapter 4.
00:01:48
Speaker
So we have quite lot to read today. When we left off yesterday, Daniel was ah in a vision with Jesus, and Jesus had just strengthened him because Daniel was so weak he could barely even talk.
00:02:06
Speaker
So here we are going to pick up in Daniel chapter 10 and our so ah this is a rather long of vision. And so I wanna give us a little bit of perspective first.
00:02:18
Speaker
This vision is pertaining to end times. And so ah while some of it may have been already fulfilled, it is mostly for the end times.
00:02:31
Speaker
And we're not going to spend a lot of time dissecting ah the the vision in terms of deciphering ah the kingdoms and such that are referred to. But what we want to keep our ears open for is that God is always in charge.
00:02:49
Speaker
God is giving Daniel a vision of things that are to come many, many, many thousands of years into the future. So what we want to recognize as we're reading this, and we've seen visions and and prophecy before, so we're not strangers to it, but we're going to see that God knows everything that is going to happen in the future.
00:03:14
Speaker
And he is telling Daniel and Daniel is writing it down. And it's for the people in the future to know.

Awareness of End Times Signs

00:03:22
Speaker
Now, Jesus also read these words and he referenced these when the disciples asked him when the time that he was referring to when the temple was going to be torn down was being referred to.
00:03:37
Speaker
And, uh, Jesus talks about that in referencing Daniel here. So, ah We're going to get into that today and we're going to be watching for God being in charge.
00:03:53
Speaker
Notice the the phrases that things are still going to be happening when they are supposed to happen. And then we will also look at the big Bible so that we can ah look at some of those same verses and in a little bit more detail.
00:04:09
Speaker
because I love the big overview picture that we're getting. But since we have, feel like this is a very important section.
00:04:22
Speaker
And sometimes I do incorporate the big Bible into some of our reading. But ah this part is very important. And since I plan on keeping this up, it's not just a one year, one and done, and then it disappears event.
00:04:37
Speaker
that this may be something that people in the future, when these times come, that God will send to hear this part of his word.

Embracing Daniel's Vision

00:04:47
Speaker
And so I want to be sure that i explain it and give us references so that it can be understood.
00:04:54
Speaker
And also we need to be prepared because as Jesus will tell us today, no man knows the day or the hour that these things are going to come, but we need to be ready for them.
00:05:07
Speaker
Because ah Jesus says that just like the fig tree gives its signs that summer is coming by starting to blossom, that we need to be aware and watchful for these signs.
00:05:20
Speaker
So we can't be watchful if we're not aware of them. So I wanna make sure that we are aware of them. And that way, if we happen to be here when these things are occurring, that God will give us eyes to see and ears to hear what is going on.
00:05:37
Speaker
Because Jesus gives us instructions on what to do when we see these things happening. He says to be aware and to be alert and to know when these things are happening.
00:05:49
Speaker
ah So we want to be able to be aware and alert. So that is why I'm going to go into it a little bit more because it's very important. It's even important, especially for you who are young, like Forest and Jedi and Pearl and Diamond, because these things may occur in your lifetime.
00:06:07
Speaker
And the Holy Spirit will remind you of these things when the time comes, because that is part of the Holy Spirit's job is to remind you. and if there are any other young ones out there that are watching or listening.
00:06:20
Speaker
The Holy Spirit will remind you as well so that you know and you will be able to be wise ah because there's a lot of information in here.
00:06:32
Speaker
And we we may not remember everything all the time, but we know that the Holy Spirit will remind us of these things at the right time. So we're going to, like Daniel, we're going to receive this information until such a time that it will be needed.
00:06:49
Speaker
For Daniel, he was told to lock it up. But for you, we want to lock it up in your heart to know that it will be there and ready when the Holy Spirit is ready to bring it out again.

Visions and Historical Context

00:07:02
Speaker
So here we go. Daniel chapter 10, 11. eleven And ah the first section is entitled, The North King and the South King.
00:07:15
Speaker
So Jesus is speaking to Daniel and Jesus has just strengthened Daniel. Do you know why I am here? Asked the one who looked like a man.
00:07:26
Speaker
Soon will go back and I will fight the Prince of Persia. The Prince of Greece will come when I leave. But first I will tell you what's in the book of truth.
00:07:40
Speaker
Wow, there is a book of truth. Michael is your prince. Remember Michael is the angel. He is the only one who helps me against them.
00:07:52
Speaker
And when Darius first became king of Persia, I chose to help Michael. Now three more kings will come in Persia and then another will come.
00:08:04
Speaker
He will be a lot richer than the others and he will get power because he is so rich. He will get everyone to go against the kingdom of Greece.
00:08:16
Speaker
Then a strong king will come. He will rule with great power. He will do whatever he wants. And after this king is gone, his kingdom will break up.
00:08:31
Speaker
It will be given to others, and then it won't have as much power anymore. The king of the south will get to be a strong leader. but one of his captains will be even stronger.
00:08:46
Speaker
He will rule a kingdom of his own.
00:08:50
Speaker
Time will pass. Then they will become friends and the South King's daughter will go to the North King. They will make a deal to help each other, but they won't keep their power.
00:09:08
Speaker
Then someone from her family will take her place. He will fight the North King and win. He will take idols and silver and gold from the people in the North.
00:09:23
Speaker
And he will take these things to Egypt.
00:09:28
Speaker
Years later, the North King will come out to fight the South King. Then the South King will come out to fight the North King. And they will fight each other many times.
00:09:41
Speaker
Then a hateful person will take over. He will take the kingdom of God's people by lying to them and tricking them.
00:09:54
Speaker
He will plan to tear down forts, but this will happen only for a little while.
00:10:03
Speaker
This king will do what he wants and he will treat himself as the most important. He will say terrible things against God, against the God of gods, and he won't worship any God.
00:10:19
Speaker
Instead, he will say he is the greatest. He will like people who agree with him, and he will let them rule over other people.
00:10:32
Speaker
Then the end time will come. The south king and north king will march out to fight. Many lands will fall, but some won't.
00:10:46
Speaker
He will put his tents up between the sea and the holy mountain. That is Zion. But his end will come, and then nobody will help him.
00:11:03
Speaker
Daniel chapter 12, shining stars.
00:11:08
Speaker
Now Michael takes care of your people, Daniel. Remember that's Michael the angel. At that time, Michael will watch over you.
00:11:20
Speaker
It will be a time of trouble. There will be more trouble than there has ever been before. But your people will be saved. Everyone whose name is in the book will be saved.
00:11:38
Speaker
Many people who have died will wake up. Some will live forever. People who are wise will shine bright as the sky.
00:11:50
Speaker
People who lead others to do right will shine like stars. They will shine forever and ever.
00:12:00
Speaker
But Daniel, close these words. Lock them up until the end comes. Many people will go here and there to learn and know.
00:12:14
Speaker
Then I, Daniel, saw two others. One was on this side of the river and one was on the other side. One said to the man in linen clothes, how long?
00:12:28
Speaker
How long till these surprising things happen? The man in linen was above the river and he held his hands up to heaven. I heard him promise.
00:12:41
Speaker
It will be for a time, times, and half a time. It will be finished when the holy people's power is broken.
00:12:55
Speaker
I heard this. But I didn't understand. So I asked, what does all this mean? mean
00:13:05
Speaker
Go on your way, Daniel, he said. The words are closed up. They're locked until the end of time. Sin will be cleaned out of many people's hearts.
00:13:21
Speaker
They will be spotless. Sinful people will keep doing wrong and they won't understand. But wise people will understand.
00:13:34
Speaker
God brings good things to people who wait for the end. As for you, on your way. You will die.
00:13:46
Speaker
then in the end, you will live again and you will get God's gift for you.
00:13:55
Speaker
Wow, isn't that beautiful?
00:13:59
Speaker
ah Now we're going to start our section today. We have a lot to read today in the book of Ezra. And this is entitled A Letter to the King. So ah in Ezra, we are looking at, as a reminder, the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem.
00:14:18
Speaker
So the people have been sent to, have been allowed to go back to Jerusalem and they brought with them riches from the people in Babylon and the king at the time, who was ah the first King Darius,
00:14:34
Speaker
who was a Mede. He was of Median descent. And he issued the decree to go ahead and rebuild the temple because God had given him the task to do it.
00:14:49
Speaker
And so the people started to do this, but they had people who were living nearby, who were already occupying the land, as well as enemy neighbors around who were trying to thwart.
00:15:02
Speaker
They were trying to stop this activity from going on. So they were threatening and scaring the people, and they had written a letter to the king. And that's what we're going to read about today. The the letter that they have written to the current king of Babylon, which is now called Persia.
00:15:22
Speaker
Now you might remember also that when Daniel was praying for the people to be able to go back to Jerusalem, God sent the angel Michael, or Gabriel, I think it was. think it was Gabriel he sent.
00:15:37
Speaker
And let's see.
00:15:53
Speaker
I'm going to see.
00:16:07
Speaker
Gabriel, yes, it was the angel Gabriel who came to Daniel at that time. and told him at the ah that there would be a law made to rebuild the temple.
00:16:21
Speaker
And he said that it would be in times of trouble. So we are going to be seeing the trouble that God had promised was going to happen. So once again, we are seeing that that God knows everything that is going to happen before it happens.
00:16:39
Speaker
And he tells us these things so that when they happen, we will not be discouraged. We will not ah say, oh my gosh, these are terrible things. this is not going to happen the way we were we thought it was going to happen.
00:16:52
Speaker
We need to be aware and know about the trouble, but not to be discouraged. Because just like ah Jesus told Daniel, it says, God brings good things to people who wait for the end.
00:17:05
Speaker
So we're going to continue now with Ezra chapter 4. And it's entitled, A Letter to the King. Now Xerxes became the king of Persia.
00:17:17
Speaker
And so the enemies of God's people wrote a letter to him. And this is what the letter said. To King Xerxes, you should know that the Jewish people are building Jerusalem again.
00:17:32
Speaker
They are building the walls around the city too. If the city gets built, the people won't pay taxes. And we feel like we have to tell you these things.
00:17:43
Speaker
We don't want to see you have trouble. Look in all the old letters and laws and you will see that this city always brings trouble. That's why it was torn down in the first place.
00:17:57
Speaker
If it's built again, you will be left with nothing from your servants.
00:18:05
Speaker
Now the king sent an answer back. Hello. Hello. We read your letter. i looked in the old letters and laws. I found that this city always brings trouble.
00:18:19
Speaker
Jerusalem had strong kings. Tell these people to stop building the city. It won't be built until I say so.
00:18:30
Speaker
The enemies read the king's answer and then they went to the Jewish people in Jerusalem. And the enemies made them stop building the city. So the work on the worship house in Jerusalem stopped.

Analysis of Daniel's Prophecies

00:18:44
Speaker
And it didn't start again until the second year Darius was the king in Persia.
00:18:50
Speaker
And that is the end of our official reading for today.
00:18:58
Speaker
So first we will talk a little bit about the letter to the king and and see about that. Do we see that God is still always in charge and God's timing is perfect.
00:19:11
Speaker
These events that are going on are not getting in the way of God's timing. God knows everything that is going to happen. He knows who will be king at the time.
00:19:22
Speaker
And at this point in history, ah that Babylon area is is rapidly having a ah ah lot of turnover, we would call ah turnover in terms of leadership.
00:19:33
Speaker
There's one after another, after another, after King Nebuchadnezzar. There was his son. We had Darius I. We've had Cyrus. Now we've got Darius. We've got Xerxes.
00:19:45
Speaker
And then we'll have another Darius in Cyprus. And ah and that cyrus will and then there'll be another ah and then they'll refer to King Cyrus who made the law.
00:20:00
Speaker
So we've got a lot of turnover going on. So it won't it won't last long. It will just be a couple of years. And so the people may have been very discouraged at the time and thinking, oh God's out of control here.
00:20:14
Speaker
But what we need to remember is that we have the big picture. We are seeing the big picture of everything going on this year. So is God really out of control?
00:20:26
Speaker
no he is not. God is always in control. He was in control then. he is in control right now. and he will be in control still when these end times come that Daniel was hearing about today.
00:20:43
Speaker
So I'm going to pull out our big Bible and read some of the verses. Did you see the did you hear the verses about God being in control? He talks about that things are still going to be happening at their appointed times.
00:20:59
Speaker
So in chapter 11, we will skim through and we will look at chapter ah verse 14. God knows.
00:21:08
Speaker
god knows Everything that will happen. And he says, Down to verse 17 chapter 11, Jesus tells Daniel,
00:21:16
Speaker
the lawless sons among your own people will raise themselves up in order to confirm the vision but they will stumble
00:21:28
Speaker
down to verse seventeen in chapter eleven jesus tells daniel ah the about this king, his intention will be to come with the strength of his entire kingdom.
00:21:39
Speaker
His intention, the king's intention, will be to come with the strength of his entire kingdom. But he will reach an agreement with him, and the other king, and he will give him a daughter in marriage in order to destroy this kingdom.
00:21:54
Speaker
But his plans will not succeed or help him. So God is still in control. This king will even give his daughter in marriage to destroy the the other kingdom, but his plans will not succeed or help him.
00:22:16
Speaker
Verse 19 says, he will then turn his face toward the strongholds of his own land, but he will stumble and fall not to be found again.
00:22:28
Speaker
Who's in control? That's right, God is. In his place will arise one who will dispatch a tax collector to extract tribute for royal glory.
00:22:40
Speaker
But within a few days, he will be destroyed, though not in anger or in battle.
00:22:50
Speaker
Who's in control there? God.
00:22:56
Speaker
Dropping down to verse 24.
00:22:59
Speaker
Without warning, this king, he, will invade the richest province and accomplish what his fathers or predecessors were unable to do. He will lavish on them plunder, loot, and spoils.
00:23:13
Speaker
He will plot the overthrow of strongholds, though only for a while.
00:23:21
Speaker
Who's in charge there? God is. Nothing lasts forever in these kings. Just like we see this rapid turnover of kings within this area of Babylon, then to be Mede and then to be Persia.
00:23:40
Speaker
We see in here a rapid turnover occurring and they only succeed for a little while. It might seem like forever, but it's only going to be for a little while.
00:23:53
Speaker
So people going through this time where these kings are or or these events are happening, it's It's going to keep turning over.
00:24:04
Speaker
Verse 27. These two kings with their hearts bent on evil will sit at the same table and speak lies. But to no avail for the end will still come at the appointed time.
00:24:23
Speaker
God not only knows what will happen, but he knows when it will happen. And all of these things are happening at their appointed times.
00:24:35
Speaker
The rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem that we read about in Ezra, it's occurring at its appointed time. it is not being delayed. It looks like it's being delayed.
00:24:48
Speaker
But it is right in that same timeline that God has ordained for it to happen because God is always in control.
00:24:59
Speaker
Dropping down to verse 29, Jesus again tells Daniel, At the appointed time, he will invade the south again.
00:25:09
Speaker
Only this time, the outcome will not be as before.
00:25:15
Speaker
The ships of Kittim, will come against him and he will lose heart. And then he will turn back and vent his rage against the Holy Covenant.
00:25:27
Speaker
When he returns, he will favor those who forsake the Holy Covenant. Okay, so this part's very important. So this is where he is talking about that this king will turn back and vent his rage against the Holy Covenant.
00:25:42
Speaker
This is speaking about believers. and the good news. And when he returns, he will favor those who forsake.
00:25:54
Speaker
When you forsake, you give something up. So for those who turn away and fall away and disavow Jesus, he will favor those people.
00:26:06
Speaker
So it's very important to notice.
00:26:10
Speaker
His forces will rise up and profane, which means to speak very badly about, swear against the fortified temple. They will stop the daily offering and set up the abomination of desolation, which may be an idol in the temple.
00:26:31
Speaker
With smooth words, he will seduce those who act wickedly against the covenant. So for those who are acting against the holy people, against the chosen people, he will seduce those who act wickedly, meaning he will reward them for hurting believers.
00:26:53
Speaker
But the people who know their God will stand strong and prevail. It is very important for those who know their God will stand strong and prevail.
00:27:09
Speaker
God is in control. It is very important for people not to turn away from God during this time because they are receiving rewards for doing so. Holding strong to your faith in your God, who is the God of all creation, who is the God of all people,
00:27:29
Speaker
They will prevail. God is on the winning side. It may look like you are on the winning side by forsaking God, but that is the losing side.
00:27:40
Speaker
God says right here in Daniel chapter 11, verse 32, The people who know their God will stand strong and prevail. Those who are wise among the people will instruct many.
00:27:55
Speaker
Though for many days they will fall by the sword or be burned, captured, or pillaged, they will suffer for their for their faith.
00:28:08
Speaker
That's very important to know. When they stumble,
00:28:15
Speaker
they will receive a little help. but many will join them deceitfully, meaning that many will claim to be believers, but not be believers.
00:28:26
Speaker
They will be deceitful. They will be lying. Even some of the wise will stumble. And this is very important too, because remember we spoke about how, ah like with Job, that even those who are,
00:28:42
Speaker
um Following God and keeping away from sin and doing what is right, Jesus tells us that even those who bear fruit, God prunes our branches so that we may bear even more fruit.
00:28:58
Speaker
And here, Jesus is telling Daniel that same thing. He says, even some of the wise will stumble so that they may be refined, purified, and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
00:29:24
Speaker
So this stumbling, God uses everything for good. It is so important to know and remember that God uses everything for good. And that has also been a major theme this year for us.
00:29:38
Speaker
Making God the most important one has been a major theme. God works everything into good. That's a major theme. God is always in control. That is a major theme.
00:29:50
Speaker
And God loves us so much that he sent Jesus to save us. And here, God has sent Jesus to be the messenger to Daniel.
00:30:02
Speaker
Continuing on in chapter 11, verse 36. So the king will do as he pleases, exalting and magnifying himself above every god, and he will even speak outrageous things against the god of gods, our god.
00:30:20
Speaker
He will prosper. So take note that this person will even prosper. until the time of wrath is completed. So you see, even this has a timeframe.
00:30:33
Speaker
For what has been decided will be done.
00:30:39
Speaker
God is in control. He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or the one desired by women, nor will he show regard for any God, but will exalt himself above all.
00:30:56
Speaker
Dropping down to verse 41, he will also invade the beautiful land. I believe this is reference to Israel. Many will be overthrown, but these will escape from his hand.
00:31:10
Speaker
And then God and Jesus list some who will be escaping. The Edom, Moab, and the chief of the sons of Ammon.
00:31:21
Speaker
In the last verse of chapter 11, says, He will pitch his royal tents between the seas and the beautiful holy mountain, yet he will meet his doom with no one to help him.
00:31:37
Speaker
God is in control. Jesus is delivering a very confusing ah and
00:31:46
Speaker
th thorough message that will not be occurring until the end times. And even still, he is assuring that these different people will not succeed and they will meet their doom with no one to help them.
00:32:04
Speaker
Going into chapter 12, we're going to look at some verses there as well. This is a little bit shorter. At that time, Michael, the great prince who stands over the sons of your people will arise and there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since the beginning of the nation until then.
00:32:23
Speaker
But at that time, your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be delivered.
00:32:33
Speaker
Dropping down to verse 3. Oh, we're going to go ahead and read ah that verse too. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life and others to shame and everlasting contempt.
00:32:49
Speaker
Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavenly expanse, and those who turn many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever.
00:33:02
Speaker
May we who are listening to- today be like those stars, turning many to righteousness. May we be considered part of the wise when our time comes and we, if we have passed away and and if we are, when we are brought up at this time.
00:33:22
Speaker
Dropping down to verse 7.
00:33:27
Speaker
Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was above the waters of the river, as he raised both his right and left hands towards heaven, and swore an oath by him who lives forever, saying, It is for a time, times, and a half.
00:33:44
Speaker
Then, when the breaking of the power of the holy people comes to an end, all these things will be finished. God is in control. He gives exact timing for when these things will be finished.
00:34:01
Speaker
Many will be purified, it tells us in verse 10, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.
00:34:14
Speaker
May we be part of the wise with eyes to see and ears to hear. From the time that the daily burnt offering is taken away and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
00:34:31
Speaker
And our last verse says, Happy is the one who keeps waiting and reaches the 1,335
00:34:41
Speaker
but you go your way till the end. You will rest. And then at the end of the days, you will arise to receive your portion.

Connection to Jesus' Teachings and Vigilance

00:34:49
Speaker
Jesus told Daniel happy is the one who keeps waiting.
00:34:54
Speaker
So for those who are going through that time, keep waiting for those days to arrive. Now we're going to go to Matthew chapter 24, where Jesus is telling us about this as well.
00:35:13
Speaker
In this chapter, he's talking about signs of the end of time.
00:35:23
Speaker
Verse, ah these disciples were sitting with him on the Mount of Olives, and they came to Jesus saying, tell us when these things will happen. What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?
00:35:37
Speaker
And Jesus answered them, Be careful that no one leads you astray, for many will come in my name, saying, I am the Messiah, and will lead many astray.
00:35:49
Speaker
So we need to be careful not to be led astray by people who are claiming to be Jesus, the Messiah. And if you are listening in the future, don't be confused and ah led astray.
00:36:06
Speaker
That is not the Messiah. says you will hear wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed. Jesus tells us not to be alarmed about wars.
00:36:17
Speaker
See that you are not alarmed, for this must happen. But it is not yet the end. For nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom.
00:36:29
Speaker
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are only the beginning of birth pains. Then they will hand you over to persecution and will kill you.
00:36:42
Speaker
Remember we read about that in Daniel. You will be hated by all the nations because of my name. And then many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.
00:36:57
Speaker
So many people will forsake Jesus and God because they are scared and they don't have roots.
00:37:07
Speaker
Many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
00:37:22
Speaker
It is so important to endure to the end, no matter how hard it looks. Remember, we are on the winning side, and our God is always in charge. Even if we are one to be put to death, God will vindicate us.
00:37:39
Speaker
This good news of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in the whole world as a testimony to the nations. And then the end will come. So when you see that abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, let the reader understand.
00:38:01
Speaker
Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. The one on the roof must not go down to take what is in his house, and the one in the field must not turn back to get his coat.
00:38:13
Speaker
Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days. Pray that your escape will not happen in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great trouble such as not has happened since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.
00:38:32
Speaker
It will be a very, very bad time. And unless those days were cut short, no one would be delivered. But for the sake of the chosen, those days will be cut short.
00:38:47
Speaker
Jesus is telling us to hold on. It will be bad, but the days will be cut short for our sake if we are alive and living through them. Because God loves us, we are part of his chosen, and he has chosen to cut those days short.
00:39:05
Speaker
Then if anyone says to you, look, here's the Messiah, or there he is, do not believe it.
00:39:15
Speaker
For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up. They will show great signs and wonders so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen.
00:39:27
Speaker
See, I have told you beforehand, just as Jesus told Daniel way back then beforehand. He told his disciples, and we have access to this holy scripture where Jesus is telling us, recorded in the book of Matthew.
00:39:45
Speaker
So it's very important that we be aware of this. So if they say to you, look, he is in the wilderness, do not go out. Or look, he is in the inner rooms.
00:39:56
Speaker
Do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and flashes as far to the west, so also will be the coming of the Son of Man.
00:40:09
Speaker
For wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will gather. But immediately after the trouble of those days, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light and the stars will fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
00:40:28
Speaker
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven. And then all of the tribes of the land will mourn. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
00:40:43
Speaker
He will send out his angels with a great shofar. And they will gather together his chosen from the four winds from one end of heaven to the other. That is the rapture.
00:40:58
Speaker
Now learn for the parable from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So also when you see all these things, know that it is near at the door.
00:41:15
Speaker
Amen. I tell you, this generation will not pass away until these things happen. Jesus was not referring to that um age generation.
00:41:27
Speaker
of of that lifespan. He means the generation of people, this of people in, that's the way he is referring to this. Nothing will pass away until this happens.
00:41:42
Speaker
He says, heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. But of that day and hour, no one knows, not even the angels of heaven nor the sun, except the father alone.
00:41:56
Speaker
For just as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking and marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and swept them all away.
00:42:16
Speaker
So shall it be at the at the coming of the Son of Man, when two men will be in the field, and one will be taken, and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill, one taken and one left.
00:42:32
Speaker
Therefore stay alert, for you do not know what day your Lord is coming. But know this, if the master of the house had known what time the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and not let his house be broken into.
00:42:48
Speaker
So you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.
00:42:57
Speaker
Who then is the faithful and wise servant who the master put in charge of his household to give them food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant when whose master finds him so doing when he comes.
00:43:12
Speaker
But if that wicked servant says in his heart, My master is taking a long time, and he begins to beat his fellow servants, and he eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him, and that an hour he does not know, and he will cut him in two and assign his place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
00:43:38
Speaker
May we not be considered a hypocrite. May we be ever watchful for the signs that Jesus is giving us. We want to be aware and God will lock this knowledge up.
00:43:50
Speaker
The Holy Spirit will remind us of these things if we are here when these times come. Not to fall away, not to forsake our God, but to stay firm in the faith.
00:44:02
Speaker
And then we know that with that knowledge that those who stand firm will prevail.
00:44:10
Speaker
even if that prevailing is not to be until such a time as if we are brought back to life at the time of the first rising, when he says when many who are dead will rise.
00:44:25
Speaker
We want to be among those who are shining as bright as the stars So that was a lot to cover today. and I just wanted to be sure that everybody was aware of all of those things.
00:44:39
Speaker
It's so important that we have understanding. That's one of our big important goals this year is to understand God's big picture. And so we see here that Jesus is giving Daniel that big picture and that Jesus himself confirms it quite a while into the future.
00:44:57
Speaker
So our daily application is that God is always in charge. He has his appointed times and nothing or anyone can... can get in the way of these appointed times.
00:45:09
Speaker
And nothing can get in the way of God being in charge. God knows everything that is going to happen. He will not give us more than we can bear. We need to stand firm in our faith and not turn away from God.
00:45:22
Speaker
But remember that we believe in a God who is in charge, who is on the winning side. who knows everything and who loves us. It is so important to remember that if God did not love us, he would not bother to tell us these things.
00:45:38
Speaker
But God does love us and he wants us to know these things so that when they occur, we will be prepared. It's also to show his glory into the fact to know that he is right, that he does know everything that will happen.
00:45:52
Speaker
But it's also because he loves us and he is preparing us for those times. And he wants us to keep alert, to be ready for those times and to pass on that knowledge to the next generation, to you, Forrest and Jedi and Pearl and Diamond, to always to be passing that on to the next generation, to not forget it, that it may not occur While I am alive or while your mom and dad are alive, but or it may not occur while you are alive, but we need to be ever vigilant, ever watchful, remembering to pass this information on because we want to be watchful the way Jesus is telling us to be.
00:46:33
Speaker
So we will not be deceived. God does not want us to be deceived. So he has given us these warnings. Jesus said, see, I have told you ahead of time. So we know ahead of time now, and the Holy Spirit will remind us when the time comes.
00:46:51
Speaker
So thank you so much for joining me. I hope that you feel that God has lit your light and that you are motivated to share this with others so that others too will know about these times to be ready for them when they come.
00:47:06
Speaker
It's so important to read God's word. His word has daily application for us every single day. just as we are seeing today by reading the books of Daniel and Ezra.
00:47:17
Speaker
So please share this event if you have the ability to do so. Talk about it. Share it by word of mouth. Our goal is to spread the word about reading God's word. And God will light our lights and just draw everybody to him.
00:47:33
Speaker
He does not desire for anyone to perish, but for everybody to have everlasting life with him. So thank you for joining me today, and I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day, wherever you are in time, 2025, 2026, or in the future sometime.
00:47:51
Speaker
I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day, and I will be here for every everyone for tomorrow's daily reading as well.
