If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year

Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages

Today's reading will cover John Chapters 6:22-71 and 7:1, Matthew Chapter 15:1-20, and Mark Chapter 7:1-23.

Today we have a longer reading because there is SO MUCH meat in our reading! Today we will read and discuss what Jesus meant when He said that He is the bread of life. We will also learn that the work God has for us is to believe in Jesus because God sent Him. Doing so will give us eternal life and Jesus is like bread/food for our spirit since He was sent by God to feed our spirit, the same way that manna was sent from God to the Israelite people to provide food for their physical bodies. When we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our savior then He will live in us, we will live in Him, and we will receive God's Holy Spirit to live in us. Even though our physical bodies die, Jesus assures us that life is through the spirit and our spirit will live forever when we believe in Him and obey Him. Our reading today will conclude with Jesus teaching us that what comes out of our heart is what makes us unclean/dirty, not what we put INTO our bodies. Lying, hating, greed, stealing, killing, and bad thoughts that come from our heart are what make a person dirty.

In our discussion for daily application we will talk about guarding what we allow ourselves to hear, see, and think so that we do not begin to entertain thoughts of lying, greed, coveting what others have, stealing, killing, or any other bad thoughts, so that these things will not be in our heart or come out of our mouth and so that we do not act on/do these things we have been thinking about. Jesus taught us that when we think about doing these things we have already done them in our heart, so it is not enough to just "keep our thoughts to ourselves." We have God's Spirit inside us. Our thoughts are not only heard by us, they are heard by the One who lives inside us!

Introduction to the Daily Bible Reading Session

00:00:03
Speaker
Hi everybody! Today is September 5th and we are here for our daily Bible reading through the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley. am Robin, I am with In the Family Way Coaching and I am your reader today.
00:00:17
Speaker
Thank you for being here with me as we go through the Day by Day Kids Bible. If you are using your bookmarking commitment calendar, it's time to get that out in your sticker because you're about to hear a lot of the Bible today.
00:00:33
Speaker
You can see my fan if you're watching. It's blowing that calendar all around.
00:00:38
Speaker
Well, today we have a little bit longer than usual reading, and it is meaty.

Understanding Jesus' Teachings: The Bread of Life

00:00:44
Speaker
I hope you're hungry for God's Word today because we have a lot to read. I love this day by day kids Bible.
00:00:51
Speaker
It takes complicated concepts and breaks them down into really easy to understand language. Tonight we are going to be reading about when Jesus tells us that his body is the bread of life and that we must eat of his body and drink of his blood.
00:01:11
Speaker
And this was a very hard teaching to understand when he was giving it. And it can be complicated for people to understand even today. But you know what?
00:01:22
Speaker
ah Karen Henley has been inspired by God to do an amazing job of wording Jesus's words into such a way that it is easy for us to understand.
00:01:34
Speaker
So what I love about this version is that after hearing today's reading, you will be able to understand and explain to anybody how Jesus is the bread of life and how ah partaking of him gives us eternal life.

Inner vs. Outer Cleanliness in Jesus' Teachings

00:01:55
Speaker
So buckle up, sit down at the table. Don't worry about washing your hands. We're going to read about why it doesn't matter for that later on. Kids, you're going to love that part. Mom and dad are always telling you to wash your hands before you eat, right?
00:02:10
Speaker
Well, today Jesus is going to be told off by the Pharisees for not washing his hands and his disciples weren't washing their hands in a special way.
00:02:20
Speaker
before they ate. And Jesus is going to give them an answer for why he doesn't matter if they don't wash their hands before they eat. Now, I don't guarantee that this answer is qualified for you because this is what the Pharisees were doing because they thought that it was special and it was their role.
00:02:38
Speaker
But it may help you a little bit.
00:02:43
Speaker
Especially for you boys, Jedi Forrest. Maybe you fuss about washing your hands before you eat. And maybe this will help you. Sorry, Julie.
00:02:55
Speaker
Okay. Well, here we are going to be reading our first section. And it is entitled, Bread from Heaven.
00:03:04
Speaker
Now, this was right after Jesus had ah just walked on water and had gotten to the other side and was had been in the boat. He had joined his disciples in the boat and that they had reached the other side.
00:03:18
Speaker
And it says that everybody brought their sick friends to Jesus and he healed them wherever he was. Now, some people had stayed on the other side of the lake where he had been teaching, where he had fed the 5,000 plus people.
00:03:34
Speaker
And the next day, they wondered where Jesus was because they knew that only one boat had left and they knew for sure that Jesus was not in that boat when it left.
00:03:45
Speaker
So they began to look around for him. And at last, they decided to get into some boats and they went to the other side of the lake and there was Jesus. When did you get here? They asked him.
00:03:58
Speaker
And Jesus said, you are looking for me because I gave you food, said Jesus. Don't work for food that will rot. Work for work to get life that lasts forever.
00:04:13
Speaker
Work that lasts, life that lasts forever. It's like food that lasts. I can give it to you because God is pleased with me.
00:04:26
Speaker
Well, what does God want us to do? They asked. Here is God's work for you, said Jesus. Believe in me, because God sent me.
00:04:39
Speaker
Show us a miracle, they said, and then we will believe in you. Long ago, God's people got food in the desert, and it was bread that came down from heaven. You know, said Jesus, it wasn't Moses who gave them bread from heaven.
00:04:56
Speaker
It was God, my father. Now he gives you true bread from heaven. I am like bread from heaven.
00:05:08
Speaker
I give life to the world.
00:05:11
Speaker
We'd like to have this bread, they said, and we'd like to have it from now on. I am the bread of life, said Jesus. Come to me, and then your heart will never be hungry.
00:05:26
Speaker
Believe in me, and then your spirit will never be thirsty. You already saw what I did, and you still don't believe. I will never send people away who come to me, said Jesus.
00:05:41
Speaker
I didn't come from heaven to do what I want. I came from heaven to do what God wants. He wants me to care for people who trust me.
00:05:53
Speaker
And he wants me to give them life that lasts forever.

Challenges in Belief: Eating the Body and Drinking the Blood

00:05:58
Speaker
Now God's people began to give Jesus a hard time. And it's because he said he was the bread of life from heaven.
00:06:06
Speaker
They said, This is Jesus. He's Joseph's son. We know his father and mother, so how can he say that he came from heaven? Stop making a fuss, said Jesus.
00:06:20
Speaker
People can't come to me unless my father brings them. And I will give them life that lasts forever. Isaiah the prophet wrote that God will teach everyone.
00:06:33
Speaker
So people who come to me when they hear God, people will come to me when they hear God. And they come to me when they learn from my father. And I'm the only one who is from God, said Jesus.
00:06:47
Speaker
I'm the only one who has seen the father. The truth is that the person who believes in me has life forever. I am the bread of life, said Jesus.
00:07:04
Speaker
Long ago, God's people ate manna in the desert, but they still died. ah came from heaven too, like the manna. But you will you will never die if you eat this kind of bread.
00:07:20
Speaker
This kind of bread is my body, and I will give up my body so that the world can live.
00:07:31
Speaker
Then the Jews fussed among themselves. How can he give us his body to eat, they said. Jesus said, I will give my blood for you too. My body and my blood give life.
00:07:46
Speaker
You must let this gift fill you like food. If you don't, you won't live very long. This gift can feed your so spirit food like food feeds your body.
00:08:00
Speaker
So let your spirit feed on my gift. Then you will have a life forever. Your last day on earth will come and then I will make you live again. Now Jesus talked about this at the town's worship house that was in Capernaum.
00:08:19
Speaker
Many of Jesus' followers said, this is too hard to understand. Who can go along with this? ah Jesus knew they were talking about what he said.
00:08:31
Speaker
Does this upset you? He asked them. What if you see me go where I came from before? You see, it is the spirit who gives life.
00:08:44
Speaker
The body doesn't count for anything. The words i speak are spirit. They are life. But some of you don't believe.
00:08:56
Speaker
Many people turned away from him after he said this, and they didn't follow him anymore. Jesus already knew which followers wouldn't believe. He had known from the first who would become his enemy.
00:09:08
Speaker
Jesus talked to his 12 close friends. Do you want to leave too? He asked them. Lord, where would we go? asked Peter. You are teaching us about life that lasts forever, and we believe you.
00:09:23
Speaker
We know that you are God's son.
00:09:28
Speaker
I chose 12 of you, said Jesus, but one of you is a devil. He was talking about Judas. Jesus had chosen him as one of the 12 special friends, but later he would turn against Jesus and he would become an enemy.
00:09:49
Speaker
Our next section is entitled The Leader's Rules.
00:09:56
Speaker
Now there was a special way that the Jewish leaders washed their hands. They wouldn't eat until they had washed in this way. They even made a washing rule.
00:10:08
Speaker
Everyone had to wash that same way. Now the leaders had many other rules like this. They had a rule for washing cups, a rule for washing jugs and pots, and the rule told the special way to wash these things.
00:10:24
Speaker
Now, some of the leaders had seen Jesus's friends eating and Jesus's friends hadn't washed their hands in that special way. So the leaders went to Jesus and they asked him, why don't your friends follow the special way of the leader's rules?
00:10:38
Speaker
They don't wash their hands like we do. Isaiah talked right about you, said Jesus, and he was right. He gave this message from God.
00:10:49
Speaker
These people say good things about me, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me for nothing. Their teachings are just rules made by people.
00:11:00
Speaker
You are not obeying God's rules, said Jesus, and instead you are following your own rules. Moses said to treat your mother and father like important people.
00:11:11
Speaker
But you say that you don't have to help your mother and father. You tell them that you will give your help to God instead. So you make God's rules seem like nothing, and it's all because of the rules that you people made up.
00:11:27
Speaker
Later, Jesus' followers came up to him and told him, The leaders were angry when you said that. Plants that God did not plant will be pulled up by the roots.
00:11:38
Speaker
Just leave them alone, said Jesus. They are leaders, but they can't see. What happens when someone who can't see leads someone else that can't see? They both fall down.
00:11:51
Speaker
Jesus went on. Nothing a person eats can make him dirty from sin, and that's because it's not going into his heart. It's going into his stomach, and then it goes out of his body.
00:12:03
Speaker
What do you mean? asked his friends and Peter. Don't you understand yet? Jesus asked. It's the words that come out of a person that make him dirty.
00:12:16
Speaker
Bad thoughts come from inside him, from inside of his heart. Sinning with sex, stealing and killing, that comes from the heart. Being greedy, hating, hating and lying.
00:12:31
Speaker
comes from the heart. Wanting what someone else has comes from the heart. Bragging and foolish thinking come from the heart. All of these things come from inside a person, and that is what makes a person dirty, said Jesus.
00:12:49
Speaker
But to eat with unwashed hands does not make a person dirty. Then Jesus went to Galilee and he stayed away

Authenticity and Symbolism in Bible Teachings

00:12:58
Speaker
from Judea because some of the leaders of God's people there were waiting to kill him.
00:13:04
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:13:10
Speaker
What do you think? Did you enjoy today's reading? Is there so much that you need to go back and listen to it again? i hope you do if you need to. I know I read it a couple of times.
00:13:22
Speaker
I prayed before reading it because I knew what we were about to read because I had skimmed ahead a little bit. So I knew what was going to happen ah because I had read it in the big Bible. I go back and I read also the same verses that we are covering in our big Bible because sometimes it contains additional little details.
00:13:40
Speaker
And ah Jedi, if you are following along in your reading, I think it's Jedi. I don't think it's Forrest. I think it's your Jedi. You read along with me. You will see that sometimes I change the words a little bit.
00:13:51
Speaker
And that's because I am matching what's in our big Bible. But if you're not following along on the reading, you wouldn't know that. So for instance, our Bible here, ah the day by day kids Bible did not include the words, but to eat with unwashed hands does not make a person dirty.
00:14:06
Speaker
That was actually recorded in the book of Mark, I believe. Mark chapter seven. So I like to include little details to make our reading a little bit meatier, even since we have a varied level of ages here. I want to be sure we're feeding everybody.
00:14:28
Speaker
So. I prayed before I read, as I was saying, that I knew that the teaching about Jesus's body was a hard teaching. And i prayed that God would open my eyes and open my ears to hear and see.
00:14:45
Speaker
And that was before I read our Day by Day Kids Bible version. And wow, I am impressed. It is so easy to understand what our big Bible is saying when we hear it out of our Day by Day Kids Bible.
00:14:59
Speaker
When we read or hear from the Day by Day Kids Bible and then we go back and look at the Big Bible, it can really help us understand what we are reading in the Big Bible.
00:15:12
Speaker
So I just wanted to put that out there as a consideration for you that when you are hungry for more of God's word, To do that, go head up your big Bible if you are looking to read it again, because you may be familiar with some of these stories that we are reading, which again, these are true stories. When we say these are stories, these are witness accounts.
00:15:32
Speaker
These are not just fairy tales. These are not um fiction. These are true stories. These are witness statements. It is called the gospels ah because these are testimonies.
00:15:43
Speaker
And it is part of what we call the New Testament, but it's really part of the new covenant. ah That's a more accurate word, but testament means that they have seen and they are giving their testimony. So want to be sure we understand what it is we are reading and why.
00:15:57
Speaker
So if you hear this version first and then go back and read your big Bible, for those of you who do that, then it will be much easier to understand Jesus's words.
00:16:10
Speaker
So when i I had prayed, like we did, like we learned about yesterday, ah When Jesus tells us, I believe I said in Mark chapter 11, verse 24, I think is what it is, that he he told he tells us. We haven't gotten to that in our day like day by day reading, but we talked about it yesterday.
00:16:30
Speaker
That Jesus will teach us that when we pray, believe that God has already answered our prayer and we will receive what we've asked for. So but believe that you've already received it and it will be given to us, he says.
00:16:45
Speaker
So I love that. So whenever I pray for something, I first ask for it. And then right after that, I will thank God for fulfilling it because I know he will answer everything.
00:16:57
Speaker
We say that God doesn't answer everything or it takes a while, but we know that God will, even if the answer is a no, if he if it's to understand his word and such i know he wants to open up our eyes he wants us to see he wants us to hear and we are meant to seek him and his word and his kingdom so if we are diligently seeking i know this is something that He wants us to to understand.
00:17:23
Speaker
So I also prayed for you who are listening here, that when you hear today's reading, that your eyes would be opened and that your ears would be opened to see and hear and have understanding.
00:17:35
Speaker
And then I thanked God for the gift of you being able to see and hear what was being read today. So I wanted you to know that I put that into practice and that I know that this can be a difficult teaching, but I know that it just it clicked for you today. And I'm so thankful to God for that.
00:17:54
Speaker
So let's go back and talk a little bit about Jesus being the bread of life So he tells us today that the manna that God gave the people in the desert, that that was like a foreshadowing of him.
00:18:14
Speaker
God, uh, lived among the people when he was with them in the cloud above them. And he sent them food from heaven. And in the same way that we talked about how Jesus was foreshadowed in the snake that Moses had been given by God, that when the people looked upon it, it would save them if they got bit by a snake.
00:18:39
Speaker
So would Jesus be lifted up on a pole and he would save us from death. God does everything for a reason. and unless we are familiar with our old covenant, we won't understand.
00:18:55
Speaker
what is going on in the new covenant. And this is what we learned already when when Jesus taught us, that it's like having a house where we have old treasures and new treasures, and we bring both of them out of our storerooms.
00:19:09
Speaker
So Jesus is teaching us that in the same way that God provided physical bread, he was now providing spiritual bread. Jesus feeds our spirit.
00:19:23
Speaker
Jesus tells us today that the body is isn't worth anything. It's life is given through the spirit. It's our spirit that will live forever.
00:19:34
Speaker
Jesus told us recently not to be concerned about anybody who can take our physical body. He says, I'll tell you what to be concerned about. Be concerned about the person who can deal with the soul after the body is gone.
00:19:47
Speaker
And that is God. It is our spiritual life that we need to be more concerned about than our physical life. And this is also what Jesus is talking about when he says that those who love their life, their physical life, and neglect their spiritual life is what he means, will lose their forever lasting life, their spiritual life, in exchange for their physical life.
00:20:09
Speaker
We are not meant to place such great importance on our physical body. That will eventually pass and we will transition into our eventual yeah ever eternal life.
00:20:23
Speaker
And Jesus is the food that will feed our spirit. Now, what did he mean by his blood would also bring us life? His blood, if you are familiar with the Passover ah celebration, that that was a foreshadowing of Jesus's atonement for our sins, that death will pass over us.
00:20:46
Speaker
So Jesus, when he ah was here, he will tell us when he gets to the Last Supper, which is, by the way, a Passover dinner that he was celebrating. If you are new to this event and are unfamiliar with that, he will tell us that his blood is the blood of life.
00:21:02
Speaker
And that is because when he shed his blood, it paid for all of our sins for that atonement. So that our sins are wiped clean. And in addition to that, when that occurred, God will eventually in our reading, we know what this has has occurred in the past, but there was a veil, a curtain in the temple separating the holiest of holies, which would be where God's presence would be.
00:21:29
Speaker
And this is why the leaders were washing their hands in a special way. So we're going to explain two things here. One, that veil when Jesus died and he paid the price for our sins, the veil, the curtain was torn in half from top to bottom.
00:21:44
Speaker
Like the curtain was drawn, it was opened up because now it was not a place that was simply only meant for the certain priest of Aaron's line.
00:21:56
Speaker
Now, before the priest, Aaron or his descendants were to enter into that area, they were to wash their feet and their hands before entering into the holiest of holies.
00:22:07
Speaker
So this is where that rule of hand washing began. And they were trying to extend that rule. And they had, in fact, extended it to everybody for everything at all times that before they ate, they were to wash in this ritualistic manner.
00:22:26
Speaker
And they thought that they were honoring God by doing so. And they made it a rule. Now, in the same way, our modern churches can create rules that are man-made rules. They are not God's rules.

Critique of Modern Church Practices

00:22:41
Speaker
And I have experienced some of these rules. And I'm going to share a couple of them with you. For instance, some churches make rules that you cannot serve in any aspect of the church unless you become a member.
00:22:58
Speaker
That is a man-made rule. What I love about the Messianic Jewish congregation where I attend is that there is no such thing as membership.
00:23:09
Speaker
If you consider that congregation your home, then you are considered a member. Anybody is welcome to serve. There are no man-made rules prohibiting service.
00:23:21
Speaker
Now, some churches, out of um out of ah an abundance of caution, many churches nowadays are performing what we call live scan, where they are background checking and with fingerprints to make sure that they are not allowing people who will mistreat children into the children's ministry.
00:23:38
Speaker
And that is a um ah safety precaution. But anybody... may potentially be able to serve provided that they ah are not posing a danger to anybody else in the congregation.
00:23:55
Speaker
That doesn't prohibit them from attending, that just may prohibit them from from serving in certain capacities. Now they're not gonna run a background check for the coffee ministry or for other things, that's usually reserved simply for the children's ministry because we want to take care of our children. So we're not referring to safety precautions like that.
00:24:14
Speaker
We're talking about a general barring of people being permitted to volunteer and serve in any aspect of ministry within a church because they are not a member.
00:24:25
Speaker
And then prohibiting membership if someone is, ah say, married to a non-believer. ah there are I know that that has been the case at different churches where I have attended as well.
00:24:39
Speaker
What I love about the Messianic congregation where I attend is that even though my husband does not choose to believe, he is welcome there. And he has never been welcomed to the extent where he is now, to the point where he actually listens to the message when we are running late on our way to the service on Saturday mornings.
00:25:04
Speaker
Hmm. They are welcoming him and allowing God's spirit to draw him in. And I am thankful for that. So this is the type of man-made rules that can push people away.
00:25:18
Speaker
And this is what Jesus was explaining. He said that Isaiah was right. These people worship me with their lips. And we taught about this. We read about this. We learned about this when we read Isaiah in the Old Covenant.
00:25:31
Speaker
that it's not man-made rules that are the most important. And these had become what they called rabbinical laws. And so they were making their rabbinical laws more important than God's laws.
00:25:42
Speaker
And they were negating. they were They were dismissing God's rules in favor of their own rules. And this was not okay. That is what Jesus meant when he said previously that we read, when he said, it's like you've taken away the key from people.
00:25:58
Speaker
You are giving hindrance so that people cannot come to God. Because worshiping and loving God is not about following nonsense rules. Washing was not, or not washing, was not going to prevent them from being dirty on the inside.
00:26:15
Speaker
What was going to prevent them from being dirty on the inside? sin And Jesus was taking care of that. And he explained today that it is not what we are putting into our body, meaning that if you don't eat before washing your, if you eat before washing your hands, that you were going to contaminate your insides with dirt.
00:26:36
Speaker
So I know ah in in fun, ah we have a saying that says, God made dirt, dirt don't hurt.
00:26:46
Speaker
So there you go. Sorry, Julie.
00:26:50
Speaker
Sorry, moms. Sorry, dads. Jesus tells us right here, it's not what we put into our body that makes us unclean. Now that doesn't mean that you might not get sick, but ah it won't make you dirty inside with sin.
00:27:03
Speaker
ah It may make you regular dirty.
00:27:07
Speaker
And again, we're saying this in fun. So Jesus is the bread of life. And what is our work? When they said, well, what do we need to do? What is God's work? What does he want us to do?
00:27:19
Speaker
It's very simple. Believe in him because God is pleased with him. Who is him? Jesus. And when we believe in Jesus, there's more to it than simply saying, I believe in Jesus because we need to follow

Reconciliation of Jews and Gentiles through Jesus

00:27:34
Speaker
him. Jesus tells us then that if we do not do what he tells us to do, which is to love one another, to obey his father,
00:27:45
Speaker
and And acknowledge that all of this comes as part of completion of the old covenant. When we come to a belief as what some people might call Christian, it is not a separate religion from Judaism.
00:28:00
Speaker
It is we are becoming Gentile believers in the Messiah. And we talked about this a week or so ago. that it is more accurate rather than coming up with the title of being Christian.
00:28:14
Speaker
That title was actually ah come up with ah very early on because it was meant to specifically differentiate from Judaism.
00:28:26
Speaker
It was meant to cause division. And God is not a God of division. We are seeing that God is reconciling. He is a God of unification. He wants to draw us to himself and we are all part of the same family.
00:28:40
Speaker
So we should not have different, what we might call factions or divisions by calling ourselves ah say Catholic or or Protestant or Presbyterian or non-denominational or Lutheran or any anything.
00:28:58

We just need to, we need to try to get rid of titles and refer to ourselves as Gentile believers in the Messiah. Because in the Bible, God has two types of believers, Jewish believers and Gentiles.
00:29:13
Speaker
Jesus came so that he could reconcile and draw in both the Gentiles and the Jewish people. And later on, ah salvation will come to the Jews through the Gentiles when they finally open their eyes and their hearts to see and hear and accept Jesus as the Messiah that they have waited for.
00:29:35
Speaker
And that is why it's important to understand the old covenant so that we can be able to explain to our Jewish brethren why Jesus is indeed the Messiah that they waited for.
00:29:48
Speaker
And then refer to ourselves as Gentile believers in the Messiah, because for many, many, many thousands of years now, ah there has been great division between, quote, Christians and, quote, Jewish people.
00:30:02
Speaker
because for a long time we had things like the Crusades and we had things where Christian people deliberately went after Jewish people. So there is understandably a bad taste in many Jewish people's mouths when people say that they are Christian.
00:30:18
Speaker
And when they come to believe in the Messiah, they have traditionally been expected to then convert to Christianity. And that is not what God is telling us here.
00:30:30
Speaker
He is telling us that we've become Gentile believers in the Messiah and that they become a complete Jew because now they believe in the Messiah, that their old covenant, um that their Torah but has given them.
00:30:45
Speaker
And now they should be able to accept the testimony of the new covenant.

The Role of Divine Calling and Acceptance of Jesus

00:30:51
Speaker
And then that is how is that we believe in Jesus as being the bread of life for our soul.
00:30:59
Speaker
that's, atonement came from Jesus with his blood. So that is what he is referring to when he says that he is the bread of life, because bread is this something that everybody ate every day.
00:31:12
Speaker
and that's why ah when the devil tempted Jesus, when he was in the desert for those 40 days, right after his baptism, that Jesus said, ah when when the devil said to him, if if you are really the son of God, turn these rocks into food.
00:31:27
Speaker
and ah He said, man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Because he is the bread of life.
00:31:38
Speaker
And like the manna that came from heaven, he too came from heaven. And he is the only one who has seen the father. So I hope that that helps you to understand our reading and to understand ah that it is not what we put into our body that makes us unclean or makes us dirty.
00:32:02
Speaker
It is what comes out. So let's look at our daily application that Things that come out of a person come out of our heart. And that's why it is so important.
00:32:13
Speaker
We will learn that we need to guard what goes in with to our ears and what we see with our eyes, because this affects our mind and sin begins in the mind.
00:32:24
Speaker
And that's why Jesus told us that even if we are thinking about doing a sin, we've already done it in our heart. Once you start thinking it, you've already done it.
00:32:37
Speaker
So it's important that we not entertain negative thoughts, bad thoughts, sinful things. And we say, well, you know, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all, but I sure am thinking it.
00:32:51
Speaker
Well, Jesus tells us that we can't even spend time thinking about it. So if we are spending time thinking about it, we've already done it.
00:33:01
Speaker
We are imagining doing it.
00:33:05
Speaker
So we want to make sure that we are not entertaining sinful behavior, sinful thoughts, coveting, lying, stealing. All of these things, God tells us, Jesus tells us that they come from the heart.
00:33:22
Speaker
And what comes out of our heart is what we will come out of our mouth. And then is if we're thinking it, it's hard not to blurt it out sometimes, isn't it? If we weren't thinking it, it wouldn't pop out. like Sometimes we might call that Freudian slip.
00:33:35
Speaker
It's because that's what we were thinking of and we were just trying not to say it. But you know what? Those thoughts always have a way of popping out at times, don't they? So that's why it's very important to guard our minds and guard our eyes and to guard our thoughts because those things will cause us to develop the sin in our hearts.
00:33:56
Speaker
And then it will come out of our mouths. And that is our fruit. That will make us sinful. And that will show that our fruit is rotten inside.
00:34:08
Speaker
And that's what Jesus is saying here is that they were blind. They couldn't even see anything. And they were the blind leading the blind. They're gonna both fall down. Jesus said, don't even worry about them.
00:34:20
Speaker
They just don't have a clue. They have no clue. He said that they they wanted ah him to perform a miracle when he said that he was the bread of life. He had already done miracles.
00:34:32
Speaker
what What else did they want? They just wanted him to snap too. That's disrespectful to our God. And we should not ask for things like that either.
00:34:43
Speaker
ah God, if you are really up there, do this for me so I know it. yeah Let's not do that. That is not okay.
00:34:53
Speaker
And the other thing I wanted to make sure that we talk about, I almost forgot, is what Jesus tells us, is that plants that God didn't plant will be pulled up by the roots. He says that nobody can come to him unless God leads them.
00:35:08
Speaker
So we've talked a little bit before about everybody that we witness to is not going to be called by God.

Seeking and Fulfilling One's God-Given Purpose

00:35:16
Speaker
It's unfortunate. And that not answering God's call when he draws you to him, that is the sin against the Holy Spirit.
00:35:25
Speaker
When the Holy Spirit is calling you and they choose not to obey and they choose not to believe, despite all of the evidence that That is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. And that is what will not be forgiven when we have been called and choose not to obey.
00:35:43
Speaker
So if you know that you have been called and you feel God's pull in your life, make sure that you answer that. Make sure that you believe in him who was sent. Because God is pleased with him.
00:35:55
Speaker
And he did not come to do his own will, but to do the will of God who sent him. And if Jesus did not come to do whatever he wanted, how much more so should we ask God what we are created for?
00:36:10
Speaker
Because he has purpose for us too. I told you today would be rich with learning. There's a lot today, isn't there? Are you sure you don't need to go back and re-listen again?
00:36:23
Speaker
Listen as many times as you need to. It will be here forever. as long as it's permitted to be up here or where your podcasts and YouTube and videos are located, they will be here so that you can listen to this teaching again.
00:36:39
Speaker
That if God gave Jesus work to do and Jesus came to do that work, how much more so do we also need to do the work that God has sent for us to do?
00:36:52
Speaker
We may not have come from God like Jesus did, but we have purpose and we should look to do what God gave us to do every single day. We've talked about our purpose.
00:37:04
Speaker
And Jesus tells us today that when we accept his spiritual food and his spiritual blood, that will atone for us, that we will live in him and he will live in us.
00:37:19
Speaker
And that is because we will receive the Holy Spirit when we believe in him. God will give us his spirit. What is the Holy Spirit? That is God.
00:37:31
Speaker
God's spirit is the Holy Spirit. It is God. God puts his spirit within us. He writes his word on our hearts. And we know what is right and what is wrong.
00:37:44
Speaker
His spirit will tell us. Isn't that amazing? Our holy of all holy God is living within us when we become a believer.
00:37:58
Speaker
And we don't want to um make our insides dirty by entertaining terrible things and sinful things. When we have the most high God living within us, our body has become a temple for the Holy God.
00:38:15
Speaker
He now tabernacles with us.
00:38:20
Speaker
And so that is one of the reasons why it is important for even Gentile believers in the Messiah to celebrate the festival of the Feast of Tents or the Festival of Tabernacles, which is coming on October 7th, I believe it is.
00:38:37
Speaker
And we will have the Feast of Trumpets. that celebrates the ah the foreshadowing of the rapture, which will occur when God blows the great Shafar up in heaven, or he has an angel do it, ah which will signal the rapture when Jesus will send his angels to collect those who are here on earth to be caught up in the sky with him.
00:38:59
