Introduction: Questioning Life's Purpose

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome back to the podcast. I wanna thank you guys for showing up again. Today, I wanna ask you guys a couple questions because I'm actually curious, because I go through this in my life and I'm curious, do you guys go through this as well? Do you often question your life? Ask yourself, is there more? Ask yourself, could I be doing more? Is the life that I have right now, is this it?
00:00:28
Speaker
Like, because I often ask myself these questions all the time. I'm always like, okay, is this what I'm gonna be doing for the rest of my life? Is there more? There gotta be more. Should I be doing something else?

Struggling with Old Patterns

00:00:42
Speaker
Now, when I get in this kind of mindset, I find that it doesn't really make me that happy because I'm always fixated on what I don't have instead of what I do have in front of me.
00:01:00
Speaker
And this is not really like me because normally I am grateful for the life that I have and I do practice gratitude and I do journal about it. But lately I have noticed that these questions and this uncertainty is arising and it's almost like these old patterns that I used to have are now coming back up to the surface again. And I don't know why. And I've been really questioning a lot of things in my life, right?

Embracing Meditation and Journaling

00:01:28
Speaker
Now, I just started doing the Change Your Mind, Change Your Life Challenge. This is the second one that I've done. And in this challenge, we might create always meditate and journal. Now, the journaling exercises that we do in this challenge, basically we pick four things in our life that we want to resolve or fix or just make better. Now, one of the topics that I picked was old patterns, because I noticed that lately,
00:01:55
Speaker
I've been very uncertain with a lot of things in my life. I've been questioning a lot of things in my life. And it hasn't really been making me happy. So I've been dissecting why these things are happening. So some of the journaling tasks in this challenge is like,
00:02:14
Speaker
What are you doing in your life when these old patterns are not arising at all? They're not even relevant and you're just fully happy. What does your life look like when there is no old patterns coming up? What does your life look like? What are you doing in your life when these old patterns are arising? I've really been dissecting why these things are happening. Trust me, I don't have all the answers.
00:02:42
Speaker
I do find that the journaling is really like kind of helping me cope with the feelings that I'm feeling. Then a micro dosing on top of that, um, you all, you all know that I'm huge about micro dosing, but basically micro dosing when you, when you take it on a daily, um, it actually helps you create new pathways in your brain. So.
00:03:08
Speaker
For me personally, I noticed that when I'm microdosing and I'm journaling together and I'm writing about all this, it's really making me look at these old patterns and these feelings and why I'm feeling this way in a whole other lens, right? Now, the reason why I'm telling you guys this is because maybe you're feeling the same feelings that I'm feeling. Maybe you're going through this as well and you just don't know
00:03:36
Speaker
why old patterns is coming up in your life and why you're feeling certain way, like why you continue to have these certain feelings arise in your life. Um, a good way to cope with this is journaling, you know, ask yourself some questions about why this is happening. Like what's in your life right now that is making these old patterns come up.
00:04:00
Speaker
Are you fully happy with the life that you have? Could you be doing more? You know what I mean? You just gotta ask yourself a lot of these questions. And you know, from what I'm understanding is I am not really...

The Role of Challenges in Growth

00:04:20
Speaker
my life right now maybe and I feel like there's a little bit of boredom coming into my life and it's just that's why I have been you know wondering like what's next what am I what am I doing you know and like me personally I feel like I just really need to be challenged
00:04:39
Speaker
i need to be doing something i need to be working on something and i do feel like because i started this challenge and i've been focusing on this and actually getting better it has been helping me kinda get better that's the whole reason why i actually made this challenge is because i know how important it is to have something that you're working towards because if you don't
00:05:04
Speaker
If you don't have anything in your life that you're focused on, you're working on, you're, you're, you're just having that sense of like, I have something to do today. It can really, you know, it can really damper things because if I'm not challenged and I don't have anything going on in my life, like I get really fricking bored and then
00:05:28
Speaker
you know, it can bring a lot of old feelings

Journaling vs. Therapy

00:05:30
Speaker
back. And that's what it was doing to me, you know? So doing these type of challenges, I really do believe that it is great for your mental health and your wellbeing. So that's why I continue to do these challenges just because I know that it's going to help me along the way. So if you're struggling with anything at all in your life, you really got to start asking yourself,
00:05:54
Speaker
personal questions and not a lot of people like to do that. Not a lot of people like to get personal with themselves. They like to just, you know, occupy themselves so they don't have to think about it, right? The whole purpose of the challenge that I'm doing right now is to actually force yourself to
00:06:14
Speaker
ask yourself personal questions about your life and understand. I find the journaling like getting the thoughts out on the paper and actually journaling about this really makes you understand more about your own life and actually makes you deal with the issues that you're having instead of just
00:06:38
Speaker
you know, try to avoid your issues. And I used to do that a lot, you know, just always trying to avoid my issues.
00:06:45
Speaker
never talk about it. And you know, I definitely still deal with this. There's definitely times where I don't like talking about stuff, right? So I find that the journaling aspect helps, right? And of course, like you can go to therapy and stuff, but like, if you're like myself or, and you don't like actually communicating it, the journaling aspect I find is key to help you kind of navigate through some of the issues that you're having. So, um,
00:07:12
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't want to stay on too long today. I just kind of wanted to talk about, you know, some of the things that I have been going through and, um, you know, I think these are normal questions that, uh, that you can be having about your life. Like wondering if there's more wondering what you're going to be doing in a year. But like, I know that.
00:07:31
Speaker
When I get in that mindset and things are not flowing and happy in your life, your mind can grip onto that. And when your mind grips onto that, that's when you're just gonna start replaying it and overthinking it and feeding it. And that's when the mind starts to control you. And I noticed this was literally happening in my life. And I noticed that I was not becoming
00:07:56
Speaker
Wasn't happy and I was slowly going down this rock and it started to affect a lot of areas in my life, right? So I'm just being aware of it right now and I'm actually like trying to like make the steps to better this right so If you are feeling this type of way Don't ignore it, you know tackle it
00:08:20
Speaker
ask yourself some questions, journal about it, meditate on it. But don't avoid it because avoiding your problems is only going to create more problems. And I know that for a damn fact, because, you know, like I said, I was used to avoid my problems before, and then it just would create more problems. So to do the work
00:08:43
Speaker
on yourself, it requires you to actually sit with yourself and ask yourself some fucking questions and answer it. That's doing the work, right? You have to show up and do the shit that you don't want to do because 100% like journaling, doing these challenges and answering these questions can be very uncomfortable. And who the fuck wants to be uncomfortable? You know, who the fuck wants to answer all these like uncomfortable questions and like really go deep within yourself? No one wants to do that.
00:09:13
Speaker
But you have to do it sometimes. You have to do the hardship. You have to really sit with yourself and work on yourself to ultimately create a good state of mind, to have good mental health.
00:09:29
Speaker
Your mental health is not just a destination.

Consistency in Mental Health Practices

00:09:33
Speaker
And I wanna cover this as well because sometimes I notice that in my life, when I do start to feel super happy, everything's flowing. Yeah, my energy's great. I tend to let off the gas and I tend to stop journaling, right? Because I just done a challenge about a month ago and I was journaling every day. As soon as it ended,
00:09:59
Speaker
I stopped. I stopped journaling. I stopped meditating. I stopped microdosing a lot. And I do believe that I actually stopped getting into sauna. I stopped cold plunging. I stopped running. Now that I'm thinking about it, I actually stopped doing a lot of things.
00:10:20
Speaker
And I believe that because I stopped doing those things on a daily, like doing those daily practices, that's why I started to have these old patterns come back up. Holy shit, I'm having an aha moment here. I'm having a moment here, man, damn. Now that I really think about it, okay, let's break this down, Adam. I know I'm ranting right now, but like, you guys definitely go through the same shit.
00:10:48
Speaker
Whoever's listening to this, I feel like you probably at some point in your life have gone through the same things, right? Consistency is key as they say, but yeah, I finished that challenge. When I got back from the boxing fight, it's like I really took the, I just let off the gas. I stopped doing a lot of shit.
00:11:09
Speaker
That's 100% why these old patterns are coming back up. Because I definitely deal with issues in my life. My mental health is not always on top. And when I don't continue to stay on top of the things that really got me to that true happiness and high energy that I'm used to, things slowly start to come back into my life.
00:11:39
Speaker
I know that I gotta continue to be doing this shit on a daily. If I want to continue to be happy in my life and have things flowing, I need to continue to work on these things every single day, just like everybody else. So hey.
00:11:55
Speaker
If you're dealing with any sort of mental health problems, if you have anxiety, if you are just dealing with anything at all, you gotta take the action. You gotta apply something to your life that's going to help you.
00:12:11
Speaker
stay on top of your mental game because if nothing changes, nothing is going to change. You're just going to continue to have anxiety and you're going to continue to have these issues, right? So have I not like actually started doing this challenge and started like, you know, dissecting why these old things are coming back in my life? It probably just, I probably would have just kept digging myself a bigger grave, you know, digging a bigger hole and going down that path of,
00:12:40
Speaker
Uncertainty which was not making me happy and I probably just would have went into a depressive state now that I'm thinking about it, right? So, you know being aware is the first step Applying action is the second step and then staying fucking consistent is the third step so
00:12:59
Speaker
I don't know if you took something from this video. I don't know if this was just a coping thing for me to just get on here, rant about what's going on in my life, but no, I'm just kidding. I hope you took something from this episode. And if any of you guys that are listening to this,
00:13:17
Speaker
and you relate to it, or maybe you got any questions about it, maybe you want to talk to me. I don't know. I'm always here. I'm always, my DMs are always open for any sort of conversation about these topics that I'm always talking about, right? Like mental health is super important. You guys know that I'm always on here talking about it on Instagram, talking about it. That's why I created this change your mind, change your life challenge, because I know how important
00:13:45
Speaker
these things are to do every day.

Conclusion and Call to Action

00:13:48
Speaker
And when you challenge yourself and do these things, you can really have a lot of success, but like you can't, you can't just do a challenge and then, you know, think that that's going to just solve your life. I feel like these 30 day challenges that I'm doing is, uh, it's just building up a habit and helping you like build up that, that habit of just doing the journaling and stuff every single day. Right. Um, so.
00:14:13
Speaker
Yeah, like I said, you got any questions you want to talk or maybe you're interested in the Change Your Mind, Change Your Life Challenge. You know where to find me. Find me on Adam Pike Fitness on Instagram, or you can actually leave a comment on this podcast, but you guys know where to find me. So hope you have a good day and see you guys on the next one. Peace.
