Nurturing Momentum Like a Garden

Momentum comes from small, consistent actions that compound over time. This is what I have been talking about on here over the last few weeks.

I talk about it on my Instagram. For those of you who follow me, you you know that I've just been preaching this, right? So if you remember in the past few episodes, we talked about how consistency, especially when, you know, motivation is low, draws results and how habits when stacked together create lasting change. Well, today I want to take a slightly different angle. I want you to see momentum, not just as something that you build.

Building Momentum Through Small Wins

But something that you you cultivate, you like you see momentum is, think of it like a garden, okay? At first, you're you're you're planting seeds, right? And then what do you do next? You water them, and then what do you do next? You water them some more, and you're patiently waiting, and it sometimes it feels like nothing's happening, right? But then, then one day you see that sprout.

And then, and then it gets a little bigger and then, and then it just starts growing like crazy from there. Right. That's the key is to just keep showing up. Even when you, you don't see those immediate results and it it can be very, I spoke about this last week. It like, it can play a big factor on your mental health and your mindset when you're like, man, I'm doing all these things, but like nothing is happening. You just got to keep going.

So how do you cultivate that momentum? First, you got to embrace the small wins. I want you to think about the smallest possible win you have today. Maybe it's sending like a single email to somebody that that you've been thinking about for a while and It just seemed like a lot, but today you did it. Maybe it's committing to 10 minutes, uh, to just walk around the block every single day. You know, it's just those small things that's going to matter, right? Even if you don't feel like it, whatever it is, just the goal today is to just have a small win. And the reason why I'm saying this is because those small wins, those are the fuel for momentum. So.

I just want to tap on a couple of the the habits that I've been stacking lately. So like last week I said that I was, I was going to start walking and the the dog every single morning or going for runs every single morning. So last week I did six out of seven days, right? This week came, I'm still doing it. I'm building that habit. The week before that, I said, I was going to stop by eating so late at night and I had a really successful week and now I'm going to do the same thing this week. um You're just building that, that, that.

that habit to make it, you know, so success over a long time because I know that if I ah go for these runs. Okay. I stopped eating late at night. All right. This week, I'm actually wanting wanting to go to sleep earlier so I can get up earlier. I know if I get that extra sleep, it's all going to build up for me to just be healthier, um more fit, um build a better mindset, like just be consistent, resilient, you know, that that's just going to build that momentum, you know, and it just goes for everything in life. It doesn't have to be a fitness. It could just be something in your business. It could be something

Overcoming Setbacks and Fear

You got to figure out like what you actually want and and why you're building these habits to begin with. right could it This looks different for everybody. but For me, I just like building these small habits, like around wellness and fitness, right? They're like, that's, that's just me and my thing. So, but listen, so here's the thing. Don't like, don't just wait for these small wins to happen. Okay. Like you have to set yourself up. Okay. You have to actively design your day in a way that these wins are easy to achieve. Right. So I'm going to get up this morning and walk 10 minutes.

And tomorrow I'm actually going to go for a run. Like you, you have to set yourself up for the success, right? Not everything has to be huge. Like the key is just showing up and taking those small actions. Like that's what's going to lead to a big change. Now let's talk about sec, but let's talk about setbacks again for a moment. You know, we discussed this setbacks and how it could be powerful teachers in the last one.

And how they can actually shape your journey rather than define it. Well, here's the thing that I've known. Sometimes the fear of setbacks can actually stop us from starting in the first place. And that's, that's huge. I want to, I just want to kind kind of.

elaborate on this a little bit for myself because um I know that there's been been many things in my life where I really want it to start doing something, but I was just fearing that like it would fail. I have this big setback. It wouldn't work out. And because of these fears in my head, I wouldn't even go. I wouldn't even do it. You know, like, for example, I talked with as many times as podcast. I thought about doing this podcast for a long time.

And, uh, I just was afraid no one is he going to listen and no one would give a shit about it. And here we are. I i don't i don't know how many episodes were in like 50, 55, 56, maybe even more. Right. And, uh, you guys are tuning in every week to to listen to this. So like you you just, you got to start somewhere. Right. So this week, okay. I want to challenge you.

I want to challenge you to reframe that idea. Don't let the fear of setbacks stop you from moving forward. okay Instead, instead just just see each setback as like almost like a a momentum reset.

Okay. When things don't go as planned, whether it's a mistake or failure or detour, it's it's your choice to actually regroup, refocus and decide to come back even stronger.

So the next time you hit a roadblock, instead of thinking I failed or, or, you know, i'll just try, try thinking, how can I use this to propel myself forward? Because that is the magic of momentum. Okay. It allows you to bounce back even faster.

A setback doesn't have to slow you down. It can push you forward if you see it for what it is. A valuable lesson. Because everything is a lesson. I say this all the time. and No matter what happens in your life, it's a lesson, okay? And here's where things gets a little bit exciting, okay? To really tap into the power of momentum, you've gotta make momentum your habit.

Sounds simple, right? Like, what do you mean and by bell making your momentum a habit? But it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking, um, I'll wait until I feel motivated to keep going. I'm going to, I'm going to do this tomorrow. Uh, you know, maybe next week I'm going to be motivated, but that's not how momentum works. Momentum thrives on action, not motivation.

I don't wanna do it. I don't want to go to the gym sometimes. you know i don't i don't want to so there's There's days where I don't even wanna create content. I don't wanna do it, but I know if I just keep keep keep like on top of my game and I just keep getting things done, I won't fall behind and that and that's just gonna keep building that that momentum. right So here's the challenge for today. ah I want you to just commit to one small task that actually moves you forward.

Pike's Personal Journey and Tips

So let me give you an example of something quick here in my own life. So there was a time where I wanted to create content full-time because one, is it's fun. And two, I knew I'd be really good at it, but I feared that it wouldn't work out. I feared that I wouldn't make any money. I fair feared that I wouldn't be able to pay my bills.

So I just never did it. And I always thought about like, oh man, if I just, if I just like, wasn't working full time, I know I could be like doing this and doing that and doing this. And I just was in this fear mindset, you know? But then I actually joined an agency and I did my first couple of videos and I made a little bit of money. And then I was like, huh, I was like, there gotta be, there gotta be more,

They gotta be more than this. So I started doing some research. I joined a couple of platforms. I joined a couple more agencies. Then I started talking to other creators. How are you doing this full time? Where are you making your money? Oh, is this platform? Okay, shit, I'll sign up for that one too. And fast forward to right now, I'm creating content full time. There's some days I'm making multiple videos a day, but it all started, which is one small step.

And that was having a conversation with Cass, show to Cass, who asked me, would I be interested in doing this? I said, yeah, um I don't know much about it, but like, I'll have a conversation with you, you know? And now I have the momentum going where I can actually make this a full time thing. So I want you to ask yourself today.

What's one small step that you can start, or what's like what's one small step that you can take to start building your momentum? Could be anything, anything. but maybe Maybe someone just was like, hey, I got i got this business. like Anytime you want to sit down and chat, I don't know, maybe we could collab together. And like you you kind of thought about it, but you never really took took a home like that person up on that offer.

maybe that Maybe just picking up that phone call will be a start of something really big. Maybe it's just a simple workout. Maybe it's just a project that you'd wanna do, but you've been thinking about it for a long time. But if you just sit down today with the pen and the paper and just write down a couple of notes about how you're gonna start this project, maybe that's it. But you gotta get started, guys. And I wanna say this again, like i there i will this week is my second week going for runs with the dog in the morning. I should be doing like i used to do this all the time.

But I just stopped doing it because I started getting lazy. And say and I kept saying to my head, why am I not running? i do I'll do it. I'll start sometime, but I just never did it. So then I just I literally just said to myself one day, I actually said it on my Instagram story. I said, I'm going to start running every single morning, even if it's just five minutes a day with the dog. And now we're going on week two.

Now, have I not actually put that out there to hold myself accountable, told you guys, I would have never did it. I would have still been like, Oh, why am I not going for runs?
