HAVING 50 TABS OPENED IN YOUR BRAIN: The reality of always being "ON"

Ever feel like your mind never shuts off like you’re constantly flipping between work, goals, content ideas, conversations, and that one email you still haven’t answered? In this episode, I open up about what it’s like living with a brain that’s always on, even when the world’s quiet. It’s about the pressure of being your own everything your editor, your brand manager, your motivator and the toll it takes when “doing everything right” still leaves you feeling off.

This isn’t about burnout it’s about awareness. About catching yourself in the chaos long enough to remember who you actually are underneath all the noise.

Questioning the Podcast's Purpose

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to the podcast guys get comfortable it's monday morning you know on mondays we do this mental monday episode now this was literally just on my mind this morning i'm like what am i even going to talk about should i even do this podcast why am i even still doing this podcast i had so many questions in my head this morning um but this is how i've been feeling lately And I feel like maybe some of you is going to relate to this. So just get comfortable, put on your headphones and let let's just

Feeling Disconnected Despite Productivity

00:00:32
Speaker
dive into this. So honestly, lately, I've i've just been feeling like I'm doing everything right.
00:00:38
Speaker
You know, I'm i'm showing up, I'm creating, I'm consistent, I'm hitting deadlines, I'm connecting with brands, I'm posting, editing, planning. And yet,
00:00:50
Speaker
somehow I, I, I kind of still feel a little bit off and it's not burnout. You know, it's not that I don't want it. It just feels like I'm running full speed all the time, 24 seven.
00:01:08
Speaker
But you know, I don't even, i don't even know if I'm still on the the the track that I'm supposed to be on. And it's it's, it's, it's, I'm thinking like, like how, how could I be doing everything right?

Mental Overwhelm and Endless To-Do Lists

00:01:19
Speaker
but kind of feel, i don't know, i I wouldn't even say lost, like, I i just feel, like, maybe disconnected a little bit, um and, like, I think a lot of us are living with that constant noise in our head, like, like it's never quiet, and,
00:01:40
Speaker
and and I don't even mean like that external noise. I mean the noise of having like 50 tabs opened in your brain all the time.
00:01:51
Speaker
Like that's me, 100% for me. um It's like I'm in constant motion. there's ah There's always like another deadline, another post to edit, and another the message to reply to, another deal to think about, um another script to come up with. And it's almost like I'm carrying like a mental to-do list in my brain 24 seven that never turns off because there's always the next video and the next thing and the next thing.

Perceived Success vs. Mental Absence

00:02:20
Speaker
And like, i know some of you can relate to this. Like, and I know that I'm talking about social media, but I'm sure, you know, being a mom, it's like, Oh, I got to get the kids ready. got to brush their teeth. I got to, um, get, get, I got to put them in the shower. I got to pack their lunch. Uh, Oh, they got, they got this, uh,
00:02:39
Speaker
sports event, they got this, like, this, it's just, whatever it is, like, you can relate to what I'm talking about, right, um and, and, and the weird thing is, like, people might look at me, and, and some people even say this too, they're like, oh man, like, you're killing it, like, you're, you're doing so well, like, what they don't see is the part where, like, so some, like, I'll be having a normal conversation with somebody, and it's almost like I'm not even really there,
00:03:09
Speaker
Like, and you won't notice it, but like I'm physically there, but like, I'm not really mentally there. And sometimes I am, it's not all the time, but it's like, when I'm in that conversation, I'm already thinking about like, oh my God, like I got, oh my God, I got this through tomorrow.
00:03:26
Speaker
I got, oh my God, I gotta write that person back. Oh, I did i forgot to write that email. And it's just, it's, it's yeah, that's that's where my brain is at.

The Exhausting Drive to Create

00:03:36
Speaker
And you know, the thing about being a creator Or like being someone that's like kind of like chasing your dream, like that never shuts off. And I don't even like, i know that this is a good thing, right? Because like I really do keep my myself in check. um You know, I'm really motivated.
00:03:53
Speaker
I have a lot of drive. But when you don't shut that off and you never shut that off, I don't i don't i don't think that's healthy. Um, and it's just, it's just coming to a point where I'm i'm thinking about that, you know, but it's, yeah, it's like 24 seven, you wake up and your brain is literally just sprinting.
00:04:14
Speaker
And I actually was listening to a podcast, um, yesterday when I was driving home from St. John's and, uh, It was Madonna on the Jay Shetty podcast. And I'm not 100% what she said, but i like it it kind of stuck with me. I was thinking about what she said this morning.
00:04:30
Speaker
And she's, basically, it was like, we're never just here anymore. You know, we we always got to be stimulated. You know, you're driving, the music is on.

Fear of Falling Behind

00:04:43
Speaker
You're eating, TV's on. You're walking, earbuds is in. You know, like, and then I kind of realized, I was like, shit. That's me. Every single moment of the day, I'm just plugged into something, you know?
00:04:58
Speaker
and And if I'm not scrolling, I'm thinking about what I should be posting or I'm editing. If I'm not working, I'm i'm thinking about what what I should be doing next. um If I get two seconds, like,
00:05:11
Speaker
You know, if if Rebecca leaves the room, I'm like, okay, maybe this i can I can message um like people on back on Facebook right now. it's it's just ah It's just like a constant stimulation. And ah it's like it just steals my ability to just be, to just sit there and exist without feeling the need to do something. Because all these feelings of like, oh my God, I got to do this, got to do this, got to do this.
00:05:40
Speaker
I think in my mind that I'm going to fall behind if I don't continue to do that. But like when it comes down to it's like, these things are not that important and it doesn't really need to be done right this second.
00:05:55
Speaker
Right now. I always have this fear of, uh, of just falling behind and, and not, uh, not getting those things done. And, you know, I just, I want to just keep the

Numbness Amidst Productivity

00:06:05
Speaker
momentum going. And I'm like, I gotta, I gotta be on all the time, you know, but,
00:06:10
Speaker
Like I said, I don't think that's healthy. and And I like to want to know, do you guys deal with this? like is Do you have 100 tabs open it in your brain all the time?
00:06:22
Speaker
Because if you do, how like how do you balance that? How do you balance that? I would actually like to know. And like i I think that's that's where like the feeling comes from. It's like this this constant like doing everything right mode. productive. It's productive.
00:06:39
Speaker
But it can be a little bit like numbing at the same time. Because when you're always on, you know, you stop feeling the point of it all. Like, like you know what I mean? Like, what why what is the point of this all? I question i question that like quite quite often.
00:06:55
Speaker
um You know, i'm always I'm always like doing the most. And it's like, for what? At the end of the day, for what? Like, you almost you almost stop appreciating the small wins.

Shifting Perspectives on Success

00:07:07
Speaker
and for me, you know, it's so wild to think about, um, maybe two years ago, right, um, I wasn't seeing these, these crazy high views, and when I, when I would have one video that would perform well, like, 20,000 views, i'll be like, oh, shit, let's go, bro, but now it's like,
00:07:31
Speaker
I'm getting hundreds of thousands of views on um ah um almost all my videos. And it's like if if one goes under 50,000, I'm like, oh, it didn't do well. like, what? What?
00:07:43
Speaker
You know, it's it's like it's like a it's like I keep chasing bigger, more. oh And it's almost like you forget what silence feels like.
00:07:54
Speaker
And sometimes I catch myself thinking like, Maybe I just need to go back and do some of the things that I used to do, like meditating. I used to meditate all the time, every day, which which it's so wild to even think about.
00:08:11
Speaker
Like I used to do this thing, microdosing, um when you take like a small amount of mushrooms. It's really good for like your mental health and your brain and everything. it it just kind of opens up your your your thinking and your heart a little bit. And I used to microdose and I meditate and did journaling every single day, like writing down my goals.
00:08:34
Speaker
used to all these things and i don't do any of that anymore. Now, i'm I'm not saying that, I don't know, I don't really know what I'm saying right now, but I know that I used to spend time with just me being kind of disconnected from the virtual but virtual world, you know?
00:08:58
Speaker
And now it's just like i'm I'm just always on to the next thing, like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, podcasts, music, TV, shows.
00:09:10
Speaker
And it's like, oh, what like when am I so ever taking a second to just, you know, just be in my moment and

Reconnecting with Purpose

00:09:19
Speaker
present? you know, and it's, it's, it's very, very slim, and, uh, that's just something I've been thinking about, and I feel, I feel like you guys can probably relate to this too, but, like, here's the reminder that, you know, i'm I'm, I'm really just trying to, to give to myself, and maybe this is a reminder that you need as well, just, just because, you know, you are doing a lot, because, like, that I mean, just just because you're doing a lot, like, it doesn't mean that you're moving forward, you know, but the progress,
00:09:49
Speaker
It isn't feeling like every second. It's about doing the right things intentionally, like not just constantly. you know like Sometimes the reason it it feels wrong isn't because you're failing. It's because you're just overstimulated. You've lost the silence that kind of helps you reconnect with your why.
00:10:13
Speaker
And that's what I was questioning for. I'm like, why, why am i even doing this podcast? Why am you yeah why am I doing so many videos? Why? i don't know. So lately I like, I've just, I've just been trying to like bring that back.
00:10:29
Speaker
You know, I actually, Rebecca asked me what I wanted for my birthday. And I was like, you know what? I just want to get out of town somewhere. ah might even just leave my phone home and just go disconnect somewhere.
00:10:42
Speaker
i really I really do feel like that's that' something that I need just to just get away from the world for a little bit. You know what I mean? Like, i don't know. So I feel like i need to start being more intentional about this stuff, like maybe just leaving my phone and the other room for a bit, and I do that sometimes, actually, like when we go for a walk, I'll leave my phone home, you know, um, yeah, and it's just, I just really need to get back to that, like just kind of having some more, like even if it's just an hour a day, because a lot of days, it's just, I'm always just stimulated twenty four seven and I want to know, like, i are you guys like this as well, um,
00:11:24
Speaker
And if if you're not, like, what are some things that you do just for you? You know, no music, no TV, nothing. What do you do just for you that got kind of just, like, puts you in in that moment? I'd love to know about it.
00:11:39
Speaker
So, yeah, this this this episode, it's just a little reminder, you know, for me, as much as you, that you know, you you can be doing everything right, but still feel a little bit off.
00:11:53
Speaker
And that's, that's definitely how i have been feeling lately. Like I do feel good, but there's definitely that, like, there's just something like, I'm just almost like just disconnected a little bit. And that doesn't mean that you're broken. It just means that you just got to like breathe a little bit and just maybe just slow down a little bit, you know, like we get so caught up in like chasing, I'm for me myself, just chasing the next thing. Like, what's the next big thing? I gotta be doing something. Oh, like, you know, this video performed well, but like, I gotta i just gotta to do better in the next one. You know, it's just always, it's always something. I'm always like pushing myself, you know? and And maybe that's the work for right now. Like not to just push harder, just to slow down a little bit and like feel, like just feel like why we even started, you know? So if you're listening to this,
00:12:44
Speaker
And, you know, you feel, you feel lost. yeah Even though you're doing all the right things, you know, just know that you're not alone. Just know that you're not alone.
00:12:56
Speaker
Because sometimes the answer isn't to do more. Sometimes answer is to do less. And I'm just reminding myself about this

Finding Peace in Ice Plunge Meditation

00:13:03
Speaker
today. I'm just talking about this because i know how, like I said, I know how much I used to spend time with myself, like meditating and,
00:13:12
Speaker
journaling and you know even like sitting in the cold plunge i used to i used to do the cold plunge and just sit there for five minutes and i'm telling you guys the amount of times that i've sat out and in cold plunge either at night or in the morning it's like no no headphones just kind of looking up and into like the universe and like i literally used to like talk to myself and like kind of like wish things for me and uh it's almost like I would be talking to a greater power. I know this sounds a little, this is so off topic, but I just remember, it just popped in my mind just now. i literally would sit in in the ice plunge for five minutes and just kind of talk to like this greater power or myself and just kind of run, go over everything in my mind. And like, I i don't remember the last time
00:14:01
Speaker
I've done that because I just feel like there's just a hundred tabs open in my brain 24 seven, you know? So like I said, sometimes the answer isn't just to do more is do less and maybe just feel a little more because maybe the point isn't to just to do everything right.

Reflections on Doing Less to Feel More

00:14:21
Speaker
Maybe the point is to just be here, you know?
00:14:25
Speaker
So I don't know. Maybe that you took something from this episode. Did I make sense? Hopefully. Hopefully you enjoyed it. Um, maybe you know somebody like this that's like me and they're just going 24-7, right? And, um,
00:14:39
Speaker
going twenty four seven right and um yeah as much as that's great and and they're hustling and working i don't think it's healthy 24 7 so um hope you enjoyed this episode if you did share it with a friend share it on your story tag me um don't forget to rate this episode um you can do that on spotify or apple there's a section where you actually rate the podcast um you know, five stars would be great.
00:15:12
Speaker
