You know, like setbacks are something that I've definitely experienced more times and I can count, whether it's a missed workout, our day where everything just seems to go wrong, like everything or, you know, moments in life where it just doesn't go as planned.

It happens to all of us. Now I can tell you from experience that I've definitely had my fair share of setbacks. The one that kind of stands out for me is when I failed at 75 hard. I put, I like 75 hard is a fitness challenge. We're basically you two workers a day.

You have a bunch of ah tasks you have to do. I was like 45 days into it. And then I just decided to stop. Now I could have let that like really, really get to me, beat myself up. I definitely like, definitely got to me a little bit, but like I could have been fixated on that. I mean, like, Oh, that's it. I'm done throwing in the towel. Right. But after sitting with that ah for a little bit, I realized that this setback was in the

And it actually like helped me um get a little clearer about what I want to move forward. right So like here's the thing about setbacks. um It doesn't mean that you're failing. It doesn't mean that you're failing. It's just part of the path. like Every time you hit one, you're learning something new about yourself. You're building resilience. You're getting stronger. I want you to reframe it. It's not a failure. okay This setback is just an opportunity for you to grow. Now, the power of perspective. How do we actually how do we actually deal with the setbacks? It starts with perspective. you know i used to I used to view setbacks as a sign that it wasn't good enough or something was wrong, but I've learned that often it's not the setback itself that is the problem. It's how we actually view the setback that's flipping the script. Right? Here's how, here's how I like to think about setbacks, speed bumps, you know, you're on the road to your goals. You're crushing it. You're cruising along. Everything's grown, going great. You got good music on the sun is out. The hair is blown through your, through the wind, but you hit a speed bump slows you down.

you know, but but you don't stop, you just continue to accelerate the gas, crank the music a little more, adjust and keep going, right? That's just, you need to do the same with life. Like setbacks shouldn't just make you come to a halt and like, oh my God, I failed and beat myself up and ah you don't do that.

If you can just take a step back and look at the bigger picture, it becomes a lot easier to see that the setback is just a small piece of the journey. Like when something goes wrong, try to reframe the narrative. Ask yourself, what can I learn from this? How can this setback actually help me grow?

If you're going through a rough patch, uh, it can be easy to want to just give up, give up on yourself, thrown a towel, fuck this. I'm not doing it. But look what, like what I've learned, it's not about focusing on the outcome. It's focusing on the process. Trust the process. We always hear that, right? There's something so powerful about showing up every single day when it, when it even feels like you're not even making any progress at all. You know,

Like that's what that's what that's what discipline is. When you're not seeing progress, i like I totally get it. Like you can go to the gym, you can you get to eat better and and it's it's a month has gone by, you look in the mirror and nothing's happening. That can be very ah shitty feeling. you're Like what am I even doing? And that's when a lot of people quit. But when you keep showing up, even when you're not seeing process proper progress, you know that's what really matters. So like a while back,

I started focusing on small daily actions that I can actually control. Things like it just journaling five minutes, making an extra phone call to to somebody that I love. um you know it's Just doing one small task on my to-do list. This is the little things that don't always feel like much, but trust me, over time, they will add up.

You know, even just eating a little bit less every single day, using a little bit less olive oil every single day. These things will add up over time, having one more glass of water every single day, you know, maybe doing a little bit.

like five minute ab workout at the end of your workout. It's only five minutes, but I guarantee you over time, it's gonna, it's gonna matter. You're gonna slowly start seeing your abs come in, right?

Celebrating Achievements and Adaptability

Like here's this, here's something that I definitely recommend. You need to, you got to celebrate the small progress. You need to give yourself some credit for the small wins, even if they just seem so small and stupid, like it's not really doing anything. Trust me, it is. It's building momentum.

You know, maybe you didn't hit all your goals. Maybe you want to just take one one step. You want to take one step at a time. You need to celebrate that. I promise you, this is what builds momentum. Life doesn't always go ah according to plan and that's totally fine. like it's It's really important to actually be actually be flexible. you know Sometimes like I am not flexible. Sometimes when I have a vision in my mind and it's something that I need to work on and and and it doesn't go my way or curve, cone the road, I get really frustrated.

you know And that's so that's not a good way to be, but you need to be flexible when these setbacks actually come into your life. you know You need to actually keep showing up. right like if If it looked a little different than what I actually thought it would be, then that's okay. Flexibility doesn't actually mean like giving up. It just means adapting and continuing to move forward. right so like One of the most powerful ways to stay consistent is is actually surrounding yourself with a strong support system.

and like for me like having people who encourage me hold me accountable remind me that setbacks are just part of the journey you know that's been huge for me so if you're if you're feeling stuck like don't be afraid to lean on others you don't have to do this alone and i totally get it You know, so like we're really busy. We have lives. We don't, some of us don't have these like motivating people to surround us. That's kind of in our close circle. and But that's okay. You have apps that you you can use. You have like people on social media, like David Goggins. you You want a little bit of motivation, you can go to his page and just watch him run and scream at you a little bit. Like that's definitely motivating. If that's not your vibe, find someone else like that.

meditations. There's so much that you can do to kind of hold yourself accountable um along this journey of being a better version of yourself, right? But like on those tough days, when you're tempted to quit, you got to remind yourself that success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out. You just got to keep doing things one step at a time.

All right. And when you're feeling overwhelmed, you're feeling like it's a lot. Just focus on one small step. That's all you can control. If you have all these things in your head, like, Oh, I got to go to the gym. I got to do this. I got to pick up that got to do this. and yeah And it's all these things, but you just don't focus on doing one thing. It can, you can make it seem like such just this big issue and it can affect your mood. And it's just, ah, you get anxiety and you're stressed out. Like you're just doing that to yourself.

If you just take all the things that you need to do, focus on one thing, finish that, move on to the next. That's how you are going to just build habits, stack habits, one small thing at a time. Okay. But you got to remember that like persistence wins. You don't need to be, you don't need to be perfect. You don't need to get it right at every time, but you do need to keep showing up.
