Introduction and Personal Challenges

Speaker
Hello welcome back i wanna apologize that i never showed up for you guys like i said i was going to do i said i was going to do a podcast a week and i never know. It's very understandable why i haven't it's because of personal things i was going on in my life shout out the buck.
00:00:19
Speaker
But it got to a point where I would start to question myself, okay, well, how long am I going to be in this little funk? Like I wasn't in a crazy funk, but like woke up this morning and I was like, I haven't done a podcast in a long time, maybe a month. I haven't done a YouTube video. Like I said, I was going to do and probably a month.
00:00:40
Speaker
I'm posting on Instagram, but I'm not posting as much now if I just continued on that path, right and like I probably would just keep going there and I would keep putting the podcast off and keep putting the podcast off my momentum got shut down right and I get it Life is hard. It throws a lot of curve balls at us
00:01:02
Speaker
But that don't mean that we now don't have to show up for ourself. And I feel like that's exactly what I was doing. Now the reason why I'm telling you this is because I know that you guys are going through some things. You guys have things happen to you. Life is fucking difficult, man. But that don't mean that we have to stop showing up for ourself. We have to. We have to continue to show up for us.
00:01:32
Speaker
Cause if not, you're just, I feel like you're going to just go on a different path, right? And I know that when I got momentum going and I'm showing up for me and I'm doing a lot of the things that's going to keep my mental health in check, I get this like this train rolling fast and I fucking love it.
00:01:51
Speaker
Well, I do feel like, you know, because of what happened, uh, like I said, very understandable. I started on this different path and slowed down and it's like, I don't, I don't want to be here. You know what I mean? So like you have to be aware of that and, uh, know that you have to continue to show up for yourself.

Understanding Brain Wiring

00:02:09
Speaker
So that's, I just want to throw that out there, but today that's not, that's not what this podcast is about today.
00:02:17
Speaker
This podcast is about how is your brain wired? Now I am currently doing a, um, change your mind, change your life challenge. And, um, we do like daily journaling tasks. Now, before I go further with that, I want to ask you a question. Can you name five things right now
00:02:47
Speaker
that you like about yourself. Think about it. Are you thinking, can, can you name five things that you like about yourself? The reason why I'm asking you this is because I did this this morning and I was about to write down five things I like about myself, but all I could think about
00:03:08
Speaker
is the things I don't like about myself. All I could think about is, you know, the bad choices I made in my life. Um, all I could think about is what I wanted to improve. You know what I mean? And I couldn't just sit there and go bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. These are five things that I like about myself. And I feel like the world that we live in today, a lot of our brains, this is how it's wired. We always tend to look at the bad things.
00:03:37
Speaker
Instead of just acknowledging the good things, we're always pointing out the bad things, right? And I want to bring this up to you guys today just so you can be aware of it.

Self-Narratives and Personal Growth

00:03:53
Speaker
Now, another thing,
00:03:56
Speaker
I want to ask you is what stories do you have in your mind written up about yourself? What do I mean by that? Well, for example, right, just just pretend I
00:04:13
Speaker
I went to therapy and, you know, it didn't really work out for me. I started journaling for every single day for a month. Never really changed anything. I started meditating. Not for me. Started going to the gym. So I'd fucking hate it.
00:04:32
Speaker
So I was, I was doing all these things to like with the intention of trying to change my mind, but I had a poor attitude about it. And as much as I kept trying to do all the things to help me, I told myself that there's no change in me. I guess this is just how I am forever. And you, you create this story in your head.
00:05:01
Speaker
and you tell yourself this all the time that this is just how I am, right? Maybe another example, I'm jumping in a relationship.
00:05:13
Speaker
And, uh, some trauma comes up, right? And, uh, you know, maybe like I, I get into a huge argument, I flip out or I get super jealous. And then the next day I apologize and I say, Oh, like I've just been through a lot. Like this, this is just how I am. I'm really sorry. I hope that you can, you know, forgive me. And then a month later, the same thing happens again. And it's just.
00:05:40
Speaker
You have these stories that you tell yourself. You convince yourself that this is how you are, right? Now, the story that you got written up in your head might be different. You know what I mean? Maybe you've been going to the gym for six months. You can't lose any weight. And you tell yourself, well, I guess this is it. I guess this is the weight I'm going to be for the rest of my life. You know what I mean?
00:06:05
Speaker
These stories that we create in our head has such a huge impact on our life. You know what I mean?

Microdosing and Mindfulness

00:06:15
Speaker
Now, where I'm going with this is the reason why we are doing this change your mind, change your life challenge is basically everybody that's doing it, we are all microdosing. Now, what microdosing does
00:06:33
Speaker
is it changes the way that your mind works. It changes the way that you look at things. It changes the way that you view certain situations. You know what I mean? It brings new thoughts. It brings new thought patterns, new ideas to your brain. It gives you a new way of thinking. So basically the practice is
00:07:02
Speaker
We have these journaling tasks every single day. We wake up first thing in the morning, we do our little micro dose. We have these certain tasks that we're doing, and then we're forced to sit there and think about whatever the task is. This morning was the five things that we like about ourselves, not the five things we don't like.
00:07:24
Speaker
me sitting there this morning, I was very aware of all the bad things that I was thinking about. And I was like, this is not right. This is, this is not right. I shouldn't, I shouldn't sit here and be thinking of all the bad things. There's many things I should like about myself. Right. So then finally, once I kind of went through that process in my mind, as I'm micro dosing, um, I did start to write down the positives and then I sat and I started to meditate.
00:07:53
Speaker
And as I'm sitting there in my meditation while I'm micro dosing, I then start to like a smile comes on my face and I start to think about all of the things that I do like about myself and how grateful I should be about who I actually am, you know? And once I finished my meditation, I kind of just went on my day and you know, that's, that's when I was like, man,
00:08:20
Speaker
Let's, let's get what is going on here. You know what I mean? Like this is not how my brain should be working. So like what I love about these little journaling, journaling exercises, journaling in itself, even without micro dosing is amazing. Just to get those thoughts out onto paper.
00:08:37
Speaker
And just just to write it down no matter what it is i do honestly believe everybody should be journaling but when you add that the micro doesn't aspect in there that's something that's that works on your brain like it really grows and repairs your brain cells like it just it makes new connections in your brain gives you new ways of thinking so like all of these stories.
00:09:00
Speaker
that we have created in our head that we're so used to, that's just the way that our brain is wired, you know what I mean? And then you've probably, maybe you're 40 years old. You've been thinking like that your whole life and there's no changing that, you know?
00:09:18
Speaker
The negative thoughts that come to your mind when you're thinking about what you like about yourself, those negative thoughts has always been there and they're always going to be there, right?

Personal Transformation and Mindset Shifts

00:09:28
Speaker
So the cool thing about microdosing is it opens up your brain to new possible ideas, new ways of thinking, right? And that's why I sat there this morning and like, boom, I thought about all the negative things. But then it was like, oh, wait a minute.
00:09:46
Speaker
No, no, that's not right. You know what I mean? That's where I'm going with this.
00:09:53
Speaker
Me personally, before I started micro dosing, right? Um, I was somebody that if something bothered me or I, I got upset or mad, it's like my face would turn red. My blood would be boiling. I'd get in the fricking tizzy and it would just ruin my whole day. Right. And trust me, sometimes it still happens.
00:10:23
Speaker
but like not as much, but definitely not as much. And if it do happen, it's very short, you know? But ever since I started microdosing, it's like I process what's happening in my brain and the things that would normally trigger me, doesn't trigger me.
00:10:49
Speaker
And I sit there sometimes, I'm like, oh, wait a minute. No, that's not right. No, we can't do that. You know what I mean? But before I was so stuck in my ways, I didn't know any different. And that's just how my brain was wired. That's just how I grew up. That's just like, that's just how my brain was wired. But then when I started microdosing,
00:11:11
Speaker
It really opened up new ways of thinking about things. And then when these things would happen, I would get upset and blow the boil, then I'd be like, oh, wait a minute. No, this is not right. I would process this trauma experience that's going on in my brain and normally the emotion would come in and you would just react, boom.
00:11:33
Speaker
But like now it's like, oh no, it's like I'm thinking about things more in my brain before I even like react or sometimes I'm having a conversation and I'm thinking about, oh, probably shouldn't say that, you know what I mean?
00:11:51
Speaker
I'm just telling you this because a lot of us are stuck in our ways a lot of us are our brains are wired a certain way and When it is wired a certain way you do have stories that are negative in your mind and you do View yourself in a negative way can have a very big impact on your life so if you you know practice on changing how your mind is wired and
00:12:20
Speaker
It can have some really good positive benefits on your life, on your mood, on your mental state of mind, on your happiness, on your peace. So anyways, I hope that you took something from this.
00:12:39
Speaker
I hope you have a good day and let me know what you thought about this podcast. Let me know if you agree with it. Let me know. I would like to know when I asked you, what are the five things that you like about yourself? Did you think about negative things?
00:12:56
Speaker
I would like to know that because it's very, very interesting how our brain works sometimes. And like me as such a positive, happy going guy, you would think that I would be like, Oh yeah, I like this. I like this. I like this. I like this. But no, I thought about those negative things. So anyways, and it also, if the micro dosing
00:13:22
Speaker
caught your interest.
