Introduction & Episode Setup
00:00:05
Speaker
Welcome to this week's episode ah of the Purple Door Podcast, a friend's rewatch pod. I'm one of your hosts, Alistair, alongside Dian. Dian, how are you this cold, cold Sunday?
00:00:16
Speaker
I'm doing awesome. Fantastic. yeah We got some snow days coming up and just a good old time. Very exciting. Because of the snow days partially, we are recording this a little early, just so we always have a new episode for you out on Thursdays. We like to get ahead a little bit when we can. And we now now suddenly have two days off because of snow.
00:00:40
Speaker
When this episode releases, that just may be a long distant memory. We just, you know. we might be wearing shorts at that point. We could be wearing shorts. it is There's a good chance. But for right now, it is for it was well below freezing. Very cold. Ice unsleaked and a bit of snow, whatever it is on the ground. It's kind of lovely, though.
00:01:02
Speaker
It is. And it's made for some great sledding and just a good old time. Yeah. It's yeah enjoyable
'The One Where Rachel Quits' Overview
00:01:12
Speaker
indeed. But this week, let's say we are discussing the one where Rachel quit.
00:01:19
Speaker
Because she needs the fear. Got to have the fear. I, again, as often happens, I kind of remembered the main story, but didn't remember what what else went on in this episode. And even though it's kind of obvious because it was Thanksgiving last week, I'd forgotten this was a kind of Christmas. And, you there's bits of Christmas kind of sprinkled in here. From the very first scene. From the very very first.
00:01:46
Speaker
Well, for yeah. It was. I actually have in my notes in that very first scene. They've got the garland around the bar. Right. And then there's the behind them. So it's from the very first scene. I love it I do love a good holiday episode, especially Christmas. It's cozy, especially on the daylight day like today. It was a joy to rewatch.
Snow Day Activities Discussion
00:02:08
Speaker
um so we came up with this new bamboozled format which has been fantastic but it has ended in a a tie the last uh gold the first and last two weeks that we've done this so maybe this week big yeah not this week you're feeling it you are ready you're energized from your um ready what's it boarding on the ice and you're just just yeah yeah you're in the zone you're in the zone a puzzle working in snack eating yes sledding
00:02:37
Speaker
I'm working on my friend's puzzle. That's why I spent a chunk of today. It's fun because I got it over a year ago and I did about half of it. We've got one of those puzzle board things.
00:02:48
Speaker
And the problem is that puzzle board fits perfectly underneath the couch in our front room and you can't see it. So I did half of it, had to put it away for Christmas last year or something. Forgot about it for six months, got it out, did another bit, put it back in, and now we've got it back out again. And we're in the home stretch, but it's been over a year since I started this thing.
00:03:08
Speaker
Wow. So I'm like determined that if I sit down to watch television, I need to do at least five pieces every time. And if I get up to get a drink and sit back down, I have to do another five pieces.
00:03:19
Speaker
It's the only way this is going to get done because we're in there we're in the tricky stage of the puzzle. Yeah. yeah im more i um We can't have one just sitting.
00:03:31
Speaker
We don't have one of those puzzle boards. i actually got my mom one either last Christmas or two Christmases ago. And so they're very handy. They're awesome. They're awesome. We actually. Does yours have like all the little drawers? It does. It does. It's it's really pretty good. We've done, with I've done a lot puzzles, but ah there's a certain kind I like and we end up doing them, framing them.
00:03:57
Speaker
And then they're up the the hallway that goes upstairs, the staircase upstairs. We have maybe 10 that framed there. which one What are they? what why like What makes them the ones that you like? So they're made by White Mountain, which a pretty common puzzle company. And they're just kind of collages. So there there's just one like is like a National Parks one. And it's just all the emblems from all the parks just kind of laying ah over each other like a kind of collage. okay Or coffee or something.
00:04:27
Speaker
Okay. Well then, let me tell you. So right now we're working on a Captain America puzzle and it's really awesome. and It's a thousand pieces and we bought it a couple of weeks ago and I bought the next puzzle because I was like, ooh, I'm going to finish this one over this snow break and I need to have another one to immediately get started on. And I purchased a white mountain one and it's all of these little things from all the states and it's weird um weird laws from each of the 50 states that's exactly the kind of puzzle i like okay yeah yeah because i was like this might be hilarious I love that.
00:05:14
Speaker
See, I want to do, have I already told you about this, that they have jigsaw like puzzle working competitions? Yes. Yes. Yes. This needs to be a thing.
00:05:25
Speaker
It needs to be a thing. that I love this idea. Yeah. it ah yeah it Puzzles are one of those things that won't think about it for six months and then it's all I can think about for a week. You know, like, yeah yeah, I get very like, I want to get this done. I want that feeling of accomplishment that we've done it.
00:05:43
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. Very much so. But one thing I'd like to to finish and accomplish the puzzle, but I'd like to accomplish a victory today. We'll see what happens, though. Well, we'll see. Good luck. We will see. All right. Well, i know I went fast last time, so it is on you to go fast this time.
00:06:01
Speaker
All right. So my first question for you is what color is the last mug that Rachel serves? Bless
Friends Trivia Challenge Begins
00:06:12
Speaker
it. So i I think I might know.
00:06:15
Speaker
But one of Kate was sitting watching this, kind of, she was making dinner, kind of while was doing it. And she did remind me just in general, you know, Wilson loves a good color question.
00:06:27
Speaker
And I think it was about something else. But then I feel that in the last, scene I may have the wrong scene, there's a very bright yellow cup on the table. Not in this scene though, going by the shake of your head. I saw that bright yellow one with three on it.
00:06:45
Speaker
Yes. And that's in a different scene. Ah. ablebel But in the very in the very, it's not the very last scene, but it's the last scene in the coffee house.
00:06:57
Speaker
And she says, this is, I'm serving my last cup. And then she serves it. And then she gives her speech. and then And then somebody says about how it was wrong.
00:07:13
Speaker
That's right. ah i should That's a ah pivotal scene. I should have paid attention. Should have paid attention. All right, your chance to go one-up hourly. You didn't even guess.
00:07:24
Speaker
Oh, I guessed yellow. Yellow. Oh, no. No, you were thinking about the wrong scene. Oh, the wrong scene. Well, okay, sorry. Well, then this scene... Because there was a yellow cup on the table. That's right. So then I think. Remember, she walked over. She handed it to Chandler. That's right. I paid very loose attention, but I'm going with red.
00:07:46
Speaker
No. It's black. No, I was way off. It was black. It was coffee. But he ordered tea. He did order tea, but we won't tell her that. don't know.
00:07:58
Speaker
All right, well, it is indeed your chance to go one up. Let's see. All right, all right, I'm ready. All right, well, speaking of Chandler, according to Chandler, what time did the Muppet get whacked on Sesame Street?
00:08:10
Speaker
Oh, at 10 o'clock last night. Indeed, he says 10-ish, but obviously 10, is it? So you are one zero up. Yes! Yes. All right.
00:08:26
Speaker
How many boxes of brown bird cookies did Ross sell?
00:08:39
Speaker
Whenever he... What was his final number that he turned into the lady? Okay. So what... Now, I've got to... I think...
00:08:50
Speaker
I may have written the number down, but I'm not looking in my little stack of paper here. Are we talking about the scene where he he scribbles down the number and then hands in because he has a nougat deficiency, as he says? Yes. Okay.
00:09:06
Speaker
I have a number in my head, and I don't know if I'm... i have in my head. No. No. It's 872. 872. Oh, no. right. Dang. Okay. The other 871.
00:09:19
Speaker
oh no all right okay another girl had eight hundred And
Friends Trivia Challenge Conclusion
00:09:26
Speaker
and then as i'm sure we know the winner had how many
00:09:33
Speaker
it is it thousands is it over a thousand It was 2000. 2000. I thought that was one of our same, or I guess it was, how did he she sell all the boxes, right? How did she win? I did not have that question, I don't think.
00:09:52
Speaker
I don't know. As listeners will know from the last few weeks, Kate, my darling wife, goes through our two quite sets of questions to make sure there's not one the same. Shout out to Kate. Shout out to Kate, as always.
00:10:06
Speaker
All right. Well, this is for you to go two nothing up. All right. Have a little stretch. All right. When Ross is sitting with the girl in the bedroom the first time we meet the girl, hurt me What? Right. Well, we can talk it very weird. We'll get into it. Yes. What character is on the girl's sweatshirt?
00:10:27
Speaker
I know! Cat in the Hat! It's Cat in the Hat and you are two for two. Yes! All right. What's the little girl's first and last name that got her leg broken?
00:10:43
Speaker
Okay, that is one of my questions that I have written down that I wasn't told to say. Well, I said, what's her first name? Oh, and I said, what's her first and last name?
00:10:56
Speaker
Yes. So you can keep that question because her first name is Sarah. But I don't know if I know her last name.
00:11:09
Speaker
I'm trying to think where, and I'm not asking because that would too much of a hint. trying to think where we saw it. I'll tell you. Did Sister Brownburn say something? new and Okay, what scene was it? Small hint. it was in the very last scene.
00:11:24
Speaker
Oh, which I love. I love that scene so much. um
00:11:33
Speaker
I'm just going to have to guess Connolly. Connolly. Oh, that's so nice. But no, it's Sarah Tuttle. Tuttle. Ah, now that you say it's like, oh, that rings a... Yeah, I've never got it. Welcome to Sarah Tuttle's blah, blah, blah space camp.
00:11:51
Speaker
Well, this is a horrifically embarrassing performance over here. 0 for 3. That's okay, though. That's okay. All right, you're going to get the last two. Maybe.
00:12:02
Speaker
well, that means if you get this right, you've won.
00:12:07
Speaker
Cause I'll you'll be out of reach. All right. Oh, let me score the ones I've done. Yes. told Yeah. i felt yeah You know what? I had a question. I'm going to ask you a different question.
00:12:22
Speaker
Well, the last one, my question, um my last question, because it because it's you, what color is the brown bar whistle that Ross has?
00:12:32
Speaker
Red. And you have won Bamboozled for the week. Yes! But we're going to finish the round. We're going to finish, absolutely. But you can take a victory lap as we do it.

So what's the name of the fashion company that Joey gets Rachel the interview for and that she eventually gets the job for? That is, i think you'll give it to me. I'm going to give you two options.
00:13:08
Speaker
I think it's either Fashion Fortuna or Fortuna Fashion. Yes, Fortuna Fashion. Okay, that's what I was going to go with. Excellent. Good Alex. All right, consolation point. All right.
00:13:19
Speaker
So let's see. Now you, question, you're going four for four. No, is that right? No. where tota- to Yeah. if i If I get... Yes, that's right. That's right. Okay, so...
00:13:32
Speaker
What is the second price for selling Girl Scout cookies or brown bar cookies? And speed bike. And you are four for four. Look at you gold. All right. That's impressive.
00:13:46
Speaker
Thank you. Well, now I'm a little nervous about question five, but that's okay. You've got it. All right. much notice does Rachel give Gunther when she quits? that
00:14:00
Speaker
just one week because I remember thinking it's usually two. Right. Yeah. Yes.
00:14:08
Speaker
Excellent. All right. So I had a strong end with my two. But you let's see you're perfect game. Perfect game. Now I amm diving into my questions that I got rid of. but I may have got rid of the wrong ones because you haven't asked them.
00:14:25
Speaker
So I'm going to ask you, what are the three p's of championship play that was one of my questions that was one of your questions precision and uh uh pan uh you spell it p-a-n-c-h-e you do you pay a pan ah pen pan yeah you You get panache it is. Yes. Panache. Whatever. Yes.
00:14:54
Speaker
You get that. you you I mean, you had that question, but you're just getting them all. Okay. I'm going ask you one more that I have. I think you may have had this one, too. How long did Rachel work at Central Park?
00:15:06
Speaker
Two and a half years. I can throw any question at you. You get it. I'm just saying. Booyah. What color socks Gunther wear? You would know. You would know today. No, I wouldn't.
00:15:16
Speaker
I don't know it was on his ugly ugly tie I looked at that too. I looked at that i did not figure it out. So there you go. And I was like, gosh, I hope Al doesn't ask.
00:15:27
Speaker
No, I was worried you would ask. was like, this is just a yellow mess. I don't really know what's going on. Yellow and brown. Yeah. Nothing good. Nothing good there. All right. Well, you're officially one nothing up in the bamboozled charts that I've written down here.
00:15:42
Speaker
Look here you go. yellow cop coming my way that's right You've just got to take this energy with you to ah Saturday's event that we talked about off the air. Yes. Take it with you. Correct.

00:16:18

And I just have nothing but respect for this. Just something new. Something you you volunteered when others would... Yeah. I mean, I don't know. i'll I'll try anything, right? Exactly. Exactly.
00:16:32

Episode Recap: Rachel & Chandler
00:17:41
Speaker
Why do we get stuck into this episode? The one where Rachel quits. Let's have a look here.
00:17:46
Speaker
Starting at Central Park. I quite like this scene because I don't feel we get Rachel and Chandler just on their own too often. So I thought that was kind of fun. Yes, and I always enjoy just a little sneak peek into the ponderings of Chandler, right? Yes, Snoopy, wasn't it? How old Snoopy was flying the plane.
00:18:08
Speaker
Yes, yes. Then Gunther has to come over the love of his life. Rachel is not a good waitress and he has to retrain her. Even though she thinks she might be training somebody else that shot down pretty quickly.
00:18:24
Speaker
Yeah. And he just straight up laughs at her whenever she says that. He just laughs. For a guy who loves her so much, he's not he's not playing it very well.
00:18:36
Speaker
No. feel like, though, he's not, like, maybe considerate. That might be empathetic.
00:18:48
Speaker
Maybe, like, some people walk around just naturally being overly so. Yeah. I don't know that that's really a trait that got their past. I don't think so. I think I'm with you. I'm trying to think if we ever see him laugh.
00:19:04
Speaker
Well, he laughs whenever she says, do you need me to train somebody new? That's right. Maybe he turned on when he thought she was, like, making a joke. Yeah, that's true. That's true. Yeah.
00:19:17
Speaker
I don't know. Yeah, no, good old Gunther. It's always good when we see Gunther. um Yeah. We pretty quickly go over to the hallway um where we can that we set up this story. um Ross and Chandler have been playing racquetball, I guess.
00:19:33
Speaker
um which i've never played but i grew up playing a bit of squash i think it's pretty similar just with a different yes size racket right we've talked about this before because this is not the first time that they have played racquetball inside of that little room right it does come up racquetball now and again um ah Ross is showing off his, is it, power, precision, and panache, and ends up smacking this, out what's her name we decided, Sarah?
00:20:04
Speaker
Sarah Tuttle. Sarah Tuttle, the brown bond, knocking her down the stairs and accidentally breaking her leg. um pretty A pretty dramatic fall it must have been for poor old Sarah.
00:20:18
Speaker
um But we go straight back over to Central Park um and Ross is kind of telling everyone he
Phoebe & Joey's Christmas Tree Dilemma
00:20:26
Speaker
feels really bad. i do quite like this Muppet joke of Chandler. It doesn't really make sense, but yet something funny about it. Maybe it's the delivery.
00:20:34
Speaker
um Yeah. But do and I do love it. And Monica's got a good little line in there too. Whenever Ross is trying to figure out what to get her, She's like, maybe a Hello Kitty doll, the ability to walk. That's right. And it's like, oh, that's awkward.
00:20:54
Speaker
Yeah, it is super awkward. poorro i mean, it was an accident. There's nothing, you know, brothers just just one of those things. um Joey comes in. He's got a job selling Christmas trees. And Phoebe's remembered she's against that.
00:21:09
Speaker
um she She thinks that it's kind of needless. You're murdering the trees just to decorate them and then stick them in your home for two weeks. And I do love that she's just kind of oh, I've remembered, I'm against that.
00:21:24
Speaker
Which speaks to Phoebe and who she is. um But I like this storyline. Again, i think Phoebe and Joey together is one of my favorite dynamics.
00:21:37
Speaker
So I'm going to enjoy seeing them. It's funny. and It is. There's something very genuine about it. Right. right Right. Yeah. it's a yeah To me, it's a very sibling-ish sort of relationship.
00:21:52
Speaker
I just, I like the two of them. Gunther tries to show Rachel where the trays go. She thought the tray spot was a club. jesus She's just not invested in this job at all.
00:22:07
Speaker
No, after two and a half years, she just doesn't know what she's doing. um But this is where we end up with Ross sitting alone in the dark, kind of, in this little girl's bedroom.
00:22:21
Speaker
Which is so weird. So weird. So weird. I'm thankful, though, that Ross at least talked to her dad.
Spotlight on Mae Whitman
00:22:32
Speaker
like So I'm assuming there's a huge back story here because the girl fell down the stairs. I assume they called for an ambulance.
00:22:43
Speaker
Ross will have called the dad. They'll have built up a rapport, I would hope. You know, there's got to be a lot of backstory here. um Yes.
00:22:54
Speaker
I do like this girl. Her name was um Mae Whitman, the actress. um I don't know. I think some of her deliveries are really good. You know, what's she like? Dad loves the slots when she comes to this. Just some deliveries that are really good.
00:23:12
Speaker
Yes, yes, yes. Yeah. Talking about India. She's like, no, no, no, no. Atlantic City. That's right. this He's going to double the college money that his grandma left.
00:23:26
Speaker
it's ah it's And I would assume, and and, you know, that's a terrible assumption, but that there's not a mom. Mom's not mentioned. Yes, I'm assuming, too. It's just dad.
00:23:40
Speaker
Yeah, just dad around. um But this, I suppose might as well mention this now. I looked her up quickly, Mae Whitman. She's like a a seasoned career actress these days. Like, she is not she has not stopped since before Friends.
00:23:56
Speaker
Good for her. what yeah What are some things she's in it? I had a quick, quick look at the list because the list is extensive. I mean, she has been in ton of stuff.
00:24:07
Speaker
The main things that jumped out to me were Gilmore Girls. She played a role in that. Of course she did. She has done quite a good voiceover.
00:24:18
Speaker
What was that? Oh, I was just going to say, we can just take a pause for the cause real quick. There's a lot of crossover things and people with Gilmore Girls and friends.
00:24:32
Speaker
and Did you see I sent you a thing and I was thinking about Lana Bell. Yes. And her a conversation with you about Gilmore Girls. Yes. And so now, because apparently I thought about it one time in my brain, all these videos and things come across on my feed that crosses between the two series.
00:24:57
Speaker
So, yeah, we've we've talked about i've this. And even like I think I told you when we did the Friends or the Paramount, the Warner Brothers tour in Los Angeles, you see some of the Friends houses. And if you go at the front of what is the Gellers household, like when they do the prom video and you see Ross, you know, um with his, you know, the big hair and the mustache, and he comes down the stairs with the flowers.
00:25:25
Speaker
That house was, I think that was used in Gilmore Girls, but directly across the little street on the lot is like Lorelei's house. so I've never seen Gilmore Girls, but the famous house from the, you know, like the main one is like 15 feet across the street.
00:25:41
Speaker
Like it's it's so funny how they're all just right there. um That is funny. But like Macy, my daughter, she... knows Gilmore. I mean, she'll put Gilmore Girls on like on Netflix and then put her phone away, like in the glove box safely, but listens to it like a podcast because she can she knows it like the back of her hand.
00:26:04
Speaker
um I feel at some point going have to give this series a shot because it's just so many people. Yeah, it's good one. Yeah, got to give a shot, but you're right. There seems to be a lot of little connections.
00:26:14
Speaker
Maybe being filmed on the same lot helps, I'm sure. But yeah. Definitely, but she was in the Gilmore Girls. She's done a lot of like animated voiceover work. So she was in Family Guy, American Dad.
00:26:27
Speaker
And for like years, she was the animated, I think the animated voice ah in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of April O'Neil for like 10 years. Wow. Yeah. That's just a couple. I mean, there are dozens and dozens and she has not stopped. She is a machine. Yeah.
00:26:46
Speaker
yeah Well, okay. And so about the time that this episode came out, she was the, was whenever the first independent stay movie came out.
00:26:56
Speaker
Right. She was the daughter in that, but then she was also the daughter of Sandra Bullock and hope floats. That's awesome. I love that movie. It's a huge movie. And remember she was so cute.
00:27:11
Speaker
But, yeah, in both the Independence Day movies, she played. I like that, because even just a 20-minute episode of Friends, I thought she was excellent.
00:27:22
Speaker
I just, I liked like this little kid as an actress. I thought she was fantastic. um Yeah, but shes she wasn't, it she didn't come across pretentious as a lot of, like, child actors could.
00:27:37
Speaker
Right. You know, she was, yeah. yeah Yeah, I just think she fits right in. But she needs to sell, let's see, 475 boxes. and Even this, like I remember the way she said, and I've sold 75. Like, it's just her delivery of that. um So she's got 400 boxes to go in it.
00:28:00
Speaker
It's like $5 a box, which again, remember, this is what, like 94, 95. That is, that's a lot of money. Girl Scout cookies today are $6 a box. Now, I did have
Real vs. Fake Christmas Trees Debate
00:28:11
Speaker
a look. These are bigger boxes, but still.
00:28:14
Speaker
Well, which is good because back in this, the whenever this episode aired, Girl Scout cookies were $2.25 or $2.50 a box. Yikes.
00:28:24
Speaker
So they were twice as expensive. Twice as much. Well, they they are they are bigger boxes. We'll talk about Girl Scout cookies in a minute because want to ask you a question. But I was kind of looking at the size we have a box in our house.
00:28:38
Speaker
um And they are they are quite a bit bigger. So maybe you still sort of get the same bang for your buck. Sorry the dog's barking at the door. They're good pups. They are good pups, but they like to bark when they think somebody's at the door. think they're done now. Um, so Ross is in the hallway. He's trying to go door to door selling cookies. I mean, this is, this doesn't strike me as a good idea at all.
00:29:04
Speaker
Um, and this lady, better idea than a little girl. Yeah, pretending to be there. It's just not his smartest move, I don't think. This old lady threatens to call 911, so Russ kits out there um you know it gets out the hallway.
00:29:24
Speaker
We end up over at the tree farm. don't know what you cut in my head. I'm calling a tree farm tree lot or something. I don't know. Tree lot. A tree lot, except it won't be the farm. That's right. so Yeah, it's a lot.
00:29:35
Speaker
Phoebe visits Joey. I think she kind of wants to see really what's going on there. But before we get into this, are you a real tree or fake tree family? The Woolisons. The Woolisons go back and forth.
00:29:48
Speaker
Indeed. Yeah. We have a big tree, but we also um have been known to buy real tree every few years.
00:30:00
Speaker
Very nice. in a mood And i was saying i want to smell a real tree. i want to, you know, Um, growing up, we always had a real tree. Like that was the thing, but they're kind of a pain. And I, ah you know, ah currently we are on a fake tree street because I have, it hasn't been long enough for me to forget how annoying it is to remember to put the water in right and then not get, let the dog drink out of the water.
Holiday Traditions & Experiences
00:30:35
Speaker
And then not accidentally kick it and knock water everywhere. And all the needles falling off and poking you. and There's a lot going on with the real tree.
00:30:48
Speaker
There is. But they smell so good. And there's something, you know, like a flavor. adam Very ah Clark Griswold. You know, they're going to get the tree, all of that. It's...
00:31:01
Speaker
Yeah, I've never done that. No? i See, I've never done it, but I've been out to like the tree farms where they had to like um other things, took the kids out there, did some fun stuff.
00:31:12
Speaker
um Yeah. It's funny. In our house, we we decorate our house. The outside is decorated but modest, but the inside, we go to town.
00:31:23
Speaker
like It turns into winter wonderland in our house. But both Kate and I, neither of us care for a tree. Now, we have two trees, two we have two very skinny trees that kind of fit in the corner of two different rooms.
00:31:37
Speaker
But this makes me, this is my Grinch confession, because i feel very Grinchy here. I hate decorating the tree, I hate the unfluffing, and I hate all the ornaments, and something smashes, and this and that.
00:31:51
Speaker
So because these are very thin trees, Your guy over here likes to just wrap them in cling film and they go straight out into the garage into a closet I've got out there. And then every December I pull it out, cut the cling film, stick it in the corner of the room, done.
00:32:08
Speaker
No ornaments ever come on or off these trees. Wow. Yeah. It feels grinchy. It doesn't feel in the spirit of Christmas. And yet I kind of don't care because I make up for it with the rest of the household. We spend like a day and a half decorating.
00:32:24
Speaker
But right I wouldn't be upset if there was suddenly a lot outlawing Christmas trees. Now, that being said, I love other people's ones. It's just I don't enjoy hanging lots of ornaments and stuff.
00:32:36
Speaker
see and that's my favorite because we've got ornaments we get a christmas ornament like if we're on vacation every year or you know so we've got ornaments from whenever joseph and i were first dating and then whenever we were pregnant and then whenever we went to colorado and whenever we went to canada And if we've got all these ornaments, you know, and then all the ones that the kids make at school. And, you know, and so we've got all these ornaments and I love putting them on there and we talk about them. And then it's like, oh, and I love this one that has little baby willow inside of a snow globe.
00:33:19
Speaker
And, you know, yeah, but I don't have like we have a very, um, You know how there are some Christmas trees that, like, they have a theme and they're all very... Yeah, that's not it. Nope. That's not it for us. no It is... You're going to have multiple colored lights and it's going to be dancing and it's got a whole lot of ornaments that do not match and there is no color scheme. I would draw the line that set with somebody who's like, they have...
00:33:56
Speaker
a themed tree with all the same color. I mean, good for them. as you know That's not for me. and ah Give me a haphazard tree that's just full of fun memories. I want a tree that tells a story.
00:34:09
Speaker
I'm thinking that's kind of cool. but Man. Okay. Now, my friend Valerie, she has got the coolest Christmas tree. And it is themed. And it it is so pretty. And it's got Hogwarts at the top.
00:34:25
Speaker
Right. Now we're talking yours. that Yeah. do all the different things and they interact and like talk to each other. It's, and it's themed like there's a whole theme and I'm like, Oh my God, that's so cool.
00:34:38
Speaker
For me, I can't do that because, because I don't know that I have like the mental and emotional, ah what discipline to be able to do that and keep up with it.
00:34:53
Speaker
I just don't, but I love to look at other people's. right, I'm now intrigued and very willing and open to have my mind changed about how cool this could be because the way you're describing it sounds pretty cool.
00:35:05
Speaker
Okay, I will give Valerie to, like, I'm sure she's got pictures, I'm sure. yeah But if not, next November, whenever she gets it up, I'll... Yeah, we will I'll just invite myself over to Valerie's house and we'll go from there. Valerie, we're on our way.
00:35:21
Speaker
We're heading that way. Well, let's see. um I think Phoebe thinks maybe she was judgmental. She seems to be a little more open to the Christmas trees until one of the old ones goes in the chipper.
00:35:34
Speaker
That whole part is hilarious to It's not not nearly as happy as it sounds or something. Yeah. Yeah.
00:35:46
Speaker
Joey is giving like the cut that cut it off. Yeah. or like And then like, I don't even know this person. Yes. It's so good. It's so Phoebe. Like it's such a Phoebe thing to get so emotionally involved in this.
00:36:02
Speaker
um We go back to Central Park and Ross is trying to sell these cookies. I could have written down this scene like almost ward for ward because some is so funny.
Girl Scout Cookies & Trivia
00:36:12
Speaker
Like, that was it the the cream-filled deities?
00:36:16
Speaker
Like all these little lines, coconut. Cream-filled Jesuses. Coconut-flavored deities. That's it. It's just hit after hit of funny line in this scene. Oh, yes. And then the hawk... Yes, Minorios. Yes. Minorios, yeah. There's coconut in those. I'll put you down. Yeah. I just, I just, I love it. Now, everyone here has a favorite Girl Scout cookie, I think.
00:36:46
Speaker
What would yours No. Yeah, mine are Thin Mints. The classic, the classic Thin Mints. Okay, now y'all had a taste test at your house. We just did that laho yesterday. I think it was yesterday. Yeah, we got a couple of the Walmarts, over there the knockoff ones, and then the actual Girl Scout ones. and Could we tell the difference? I failed the test.
00:37:06
Speaker
I failed the test. No, no, no. Only one of the three. Somebody won. Somebody won. I don't remember who. Yeah, Kate posted on Facebook. I just know that it didn't do well. But ah we did it.
00:37:20
Speaker
Oh, no. i was thinking she sent it in the group chat. i She may have done that. and the Now, we did one that was like peanut butter once. I don't like peanut butter, so I've never tasted either of the cookies. So really, it was just a 50-50 shot.
00:37:33
Speaker
I think I knew the difference in the Thin Mints. We all agreed the Samoas and then the Walmart version of Samoas were almost identical. like that That was far and away the hardest to tell the difference.
00:37:46
Speaker
Really? The samos are pretty good. Those are my favorite. They're pretty solid. yeah and do enjoy the samos. Well, the mint treasures were based off the thin mints. I did assume it was like, a how close can we get without violating some kind of copyright?
00:38:08
Speaker
that was I was guessing. um This is where Joey and Rachel talk, or sorry, Joey and Chandler kind of talk Rachel into quitting because this is the fear that you brought earlier. You've got to have the fear. You've to have the fear.
00:38:22
Speaker
I don't know if you have to have the fear. I've never been in a situation where I've wanted to quit a job like like that. you know There's been times where I've thought, ah, this isn't for me, and then I've interviewed, got another job, and then handed it my notice.
00:38:37
Speaker
But I've never just wanted to quit to pursue something else. Like, I don't think I need, I'd have a greater fear of not being able to pay my bills, I think. Yeah. You know, that that's my fear.
00:38:49
Speaker
So, no, no, I'm keeping a job until I know i have another one.
Rachel's Career Struggles
00:38:55
Speaker
Right. And yeah that that's the thing is typically, I don't know, but then how do you end up if you have a temporary job? How do you end up there for two and a half years?
00:39:10
Speaker
Right. If you don't love it. yeah it's Yeah. I don't know. Yeah, I would like to have thought she would have looked earlier, but you know, if she really wasn't happy. But maybe it's just maybe maybe the unhappiness grew and it's just kind of come to a head recently.
00:39:30
Speaker
Although I suspect she never loved it because she never evidently did things very well. Yeah. Well, and I think that whenever she gives her a little speech and she's like, you know why? Because I don't care. don't care.
00:39:43
Speaker
And I don't think I should do it anymore. I think there's that that was a very, ah ah probably a very honest statement, right? Yeah.
00:39:56
Speaker
And it's admirable. You know, i'm just, i don't waste my life. for you know I don't love it. I don't care. I'm done. But I couldn't do that. ah No, I would have to have another job.
00:40:09
Speaker
Yeah, because I'm going to assume just based on the fact she's a waitress and she's a self-supporting independent girl, she probably doesn't have, you know, three months salary or six months, you know, um all of her bills set aside.
00:40:24
Speaker
No, no. So but good for every good for her, but it's not something I could pull off. Um, maybe she can help Ross sell cookies that he's adding up how many he has sold. Um, there's no Christmas decorations yet in the girl's apartment. I know central park is decorated. Um, so I was trying to, you know, I guess this is mid December and Monk has just not got around to doing it yet.
00:40:50
Speaker
Um, but he's pretty, pretty bare. Um, I think, yeah, he sold at this point 517.
00:40:58
Speaker
um I do quite like this. see ive I scribbled down a bunch of notes. So just stop me when I say something like Monica is jonesing for more. She's starting to kind of tweak out a little bit about needing some more of the mint ones, I think.
00:41:17
Speaker
And Ross is going have to cut her off. um but then he figured that ross figured out great sales tactic of going outside uh well he said 50 boxes of the planetarium when he saw laser floyd which is just a brilliant name and you know i'm assuming a riff on pink floyd right and you know inside the planetarium so i would imagine that they're all sitting in the plant Right. a laser light It's a great visual, you know. yes.
00:41:50
Speaker
um My success is the munchies. So this is one of those lines that is just just lives in my head. and some you know, cookie dude. cookie dude it's just i don't know why so much but it's in my head a lot cookie dude um well and so right after that the part that made me laugh was chandler's like yeah okay but i'm not gonna call you that and that was hilarious to me but it looks like that got cut out of yours that did get cut out that's a great gag that's a funny line that's a great gag
00:42:30
Speaker
Uh-huh. Yeah, I wish they'd left that one in. um Yep. Rachel comes in. She's ready. She's ready to get this new job. She comes in with the resumes. I love that Chandler's quite proud that he typed it on his computer. You know, it's kind of a ah sort of aging. you know, it just shows the age of the, ah you know, the tech.
00:42:53
Speaker
You know, it's a big deal. He's got a way of typing this up. Well, and it's a nice little throwback to his, you know fancy computer Yeah, that we talked about. It was almost the price of a decent car, I think.
00:43:05
Speaker
Right. um I think he's kind of crappy, the way he goes, you know, well, cheer it was it cheer squad co-captain and waitress only takes up so much space. Rachel's probably not feeling great about herself at this moment, who would be in this transition.
00:43:20
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. So not not a big fan of Chandler's comment there. I mean, I know he's being silly, but that that's gonna that could strike a bit of a low blow, I feel. Oh, yeah.
00:43:33
Speaker
No, good. But Rachel then panics. She's going to call Gunther. And this is where Joey comes in. um And Chandler's like, run, run for your life. Because Rachel's been sort of yelling at him. um Yeah.
00:43:47
Speaker
Joey's come to save the day. His dad's doing it as a plumbing job, I think. And then the fortune of fashion. And there's an opening, an opening of some sorts. So joey's good Joey is going to be a good friend and try and help Rachel out again. Of course he is.
00:44:05
Speaker
Now, and then, yes, snow in a can. Have you ever done the old window spraying with snow in a can? Oh, yeah. Yeah. yeah Yeah. I feel like I've only done it maybe once, like in a classroom.
00:44:18
Speaker
And then it doesn't, I don't think I've ever done it in a home. No. but I've done it at my home before. Right. It's stink, though.
00:44:29
Speaker
yeah You know, that's one of my like lingering memories is that it kind of smells funny. Yeah. um But it's it's good. I mean, it's fun. It's good fun. mean, it kind of makes you laugh. And then whenever he's like, kind of give your window little spooky. She's like, Christmas cookie. So I was wondering, like, I was trying to think backwards about this joke. Like, was that the whole reason he brought the can came up was to set up this joke?
00:44:59
Speaker
You know, like in the in the writer's room. I hope so. Because it's worth it. It's a good gag. Yeah. Brings Monica back in. i was going ask you in trivia. I'm glad I didn't because I'm very happy that you just got them all right. What kind of tree does the man buy from Joey? I would have been able to tell you that. Of course you would. Of course you would. That's the time that we always got whenever I was a kid.
00:45:23
Speaker
I love that. was the Douglas fir because they weren't as pokey. I didn't. i yeah were Growing up, we had a real tree, but we were growing up. having I was a kid. I didn't pay attention to what kind tree it was.
00:45:35
Speaker
um Didn't know. see and you you just you've got all the answers this week. Phoebe tries to sell the old man on an old tree, though, and Joey loses his commission on the sale. Yeah, he does.
00:45:50
Speaker
And then is is is this where Monica shows up? Because Phoebe's getting emotional around the holidays. Or is this because your mom died? And clearly that wasn't the case. Yeah.
00:46:00
Speaker
Yeah. Well, and then before that, whenever she like, oh, good, I have the tree here for you. And she is that the one I threw out last year? Right. It's like, dang, dang. Poor old Phoebe.
00:46:14
Speaker
um Now, when I go through my notes, I always think, what do I need to ask Deanne this week? um In the Brown Bird meeting next, Ross starts to scramble, you know, to buy just enough cookies to to win.
00:46:30
Speaker
We've both been in education for a long time and we've both seen some pretty crummy fundraisers. But I was trying to think about the worst thing or most useless thing. You may have either bought a fundraiser, seen as a fundraiser. None of them are great. Let's be honest. They raise some money for the school, but it's always kind of crummy. I couldn't get you the answer my myself. I am always happy to buy some cookie dough.
00:46:55
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Cookie dough's good. Yeah. It's some of the other stuff I'm not, you know, now that I've sounded curmudgeoning. You know, anything to raise money for the kids. And I've bought plenty of it. Right. Anything. Even if you don't need Sometimes it's just like, okay, so in order to win whatever it is that you want, maybe the neighbors come. It was, okay, is it the number of items or the amount of money that you sell?
00:47:20
Speaker
right Because if it's the amount of items, I'll buy two or three of the cheapest items that you have. yes And then that way you've got two or three items to however many is that you need. you know yeah But I always think strategically on Well, this good this this this plays into your your ah enjoyment of winning.
00:47:45
Speaker
Yes, it's true. And I like other people to win too. Oh, yeah. You share the joy and the wealth. Absolutely. i do. And if I you know can it can give somebody a boost, I will.
00:47:59
Speaker
Good for you. Yeah. So I don't know. i mean, i bought a lot of random crap over the years. Oh, yeah. I got to be completely honest. Yeah. Nothing stands out in my mind as to what is the worst thing. But like, I'll tell you the best is always cookie dough.
00:48:18
Speaker
you You can't go wrong. you know Come see me. i will You know what else is really good? What's good? Okay. So before, maybe it wasn't before, but oh since I've been in Pilot Point, um The band, every year they sell poinsettias.
00:48:39
Speaker
And they are the prettiest dadgum poinsettias you've ever seen. Like they are so pretty. And they're big and they're red and they're fluffy and they're huge. And they're like 25 bucks. Like it's not anything crazy. And ah that's my favorite thing to buy right now.
00:49:01
Speaker
And like my, my mother-in-law's points that have lived all year last year, mine made it all the way through the summer and then they died. But, um, yeah, I, I do like some plants too.
00:49:17
Speaker
Some really pretty plants. though We get a point set once in a while. but that's you know Kate's department, they'll show up at the house. I've never thought too much about them, to be honest. I say once in a while. You know, December, Christmas time.
00:49:32
Speaker
Right. They show up. Yeah. yeah they are They're good looking plants. Kate's mom will sometimes show up with one and at at the appropriate time year as well. Yeah, they're they're nice. They're nice.
00:49:45
Speaker
Yeah. So I got very distracted. A friend of mine just texted me a picture, which this is terrible podcasting. Let's see. don't know we can do this. No, it went away.
00:49:56
Speaker
Went away. I was just going to show. There we go. He's in up in Boston. He's just got 17 inches of snow. 17 inches. Yeah, he's got the tape measure in the snow. 17 inches. miserable.
00:50:09
Speaker
Yeah, Kate's parents are up there and we FaceTimed with them earlier and it's a similar amount. Golly. Yeah, it's and they're like and he he wasn't really joking. where He's like, this will be on the ground for, I think he said, six weeks or something.
00:50:24
Speaker
you know, you know, until it's all gone because it's, you know, pretty cold. But yeah, so sorry. It's the time of year the poinsettias, cold weather, all kind of fits.
Ross & The Brown Birds Fundraising
00:50:41
Speaker
let's see charlotte sold 278 somebody sold was 871 so if ross had to scramble yeah 72 but pretty sure that that was against the rules because you know he doesn't win in the end um right well because somebody sold 2000 that's right he ends up going to the store he really wanted to win really wanted to win he would have waited Until everybody else shared, since that's the way that they were doing it. yes Normally, that's not the way that they do it to, you know, not allow something like that. Right.
00:51:18
Speaker
But he just thought nobody else was going go any higher than that. So. I can't imagine he would have bought over 2,000. Right. That would have been getting, especially about $5 a box. Suddenly this is getting insane. Yeah.
00:51:35
Speaker
Well, depending on how many more he had sold, because he was at 570, right? something like that. Something like that, yeah. He just bought 300 more boxes just to beat that girl. I don't know. $1,500. Yeah.
00:51:51
Speaker
fifteen hundred dollars in the mid 90s as well yeah i go it's a little crazy it's little crazy um but yeah somebody lent the brian bird costume to the big sister who went to the was it the uss nimitz what did they say yes the yeah limitmits yeah and 2000 boxes rachel comes in she says she blew the interview you know she's not gonna get the job um Ross tries to be consoling and just says something dumb before he's like, you're going go on thousands of interviews before you get a job.
00:52:29
Speaker
yeah And then as soon as he said it, he's like, I shouldn't have said that came out too late. Right. Yeah, not not not your not your finest moment. I do love this next scene. We go into the girl's apartment and they brought all the old trees for Phoebe, Monica and Joey have. a It's very sweet. It really is. like that's That's a lot of lugging trees up and down.
00:52:53
Speaker
That's dedication to your friend. ah Well, and also, i mean, thinking about all the things that I just complained about, that all the needles everywhere. That's a good point.
00:53:07
Speaker
For Monica, that invited all these dead needles into her apartment. I think that says something. That's a very good point. she's gonna she They're doing a lot for Phoebe, and it's I think it's very sweet. Rachel gets the call.
00:53:22
Speaker
She got the job at Fortuna. Very exciting. She gets it. This is technically her first job in fashion. Doesn't quite work out that way as we see at the end of this episode. But it is her first job in in the industry. So that's exciting.
Rachel's New Job Challenges
00:53:40
Speaker
Yeah, it is. So we're at Central Park. Rachel's serving her last cup of coffee. She makes an in announcement saying she's made lots of friends to Chandler, which he didn't order, but so be it. Yeah. um gunther has to leave it's too much for gunther too emotional um so i've suddenly misplaced my notes put to turn the wrong thing um there we are yeah so she yeah she gives chandler the coffee it was meant to be tea um and they do immediately kind of flip over to her new job where she's being told how to make coffee use the filter twice
00:54:23
Speaker
Yeah. It's just, yeah. o Not good. We've talked about before, Shirley. You drink coffee? Yes. How do you take your coffee?
00:54:35
Speaker
Oh, with, um I take my cream with some coffee. Just a little cream. got Very nice indeed. A fine choice. A lot of cream. A lot of cream. but A lot of cream. A little coffee. Lots of cream.
00:54:48
Speaker
Excellent. Or a little bit of um like non like sweetener. either very similar Very similar to Kate. Yeah, a little stevia. A little dash of that and some...
00:55:03
Speaker
What's it called? like but if The creamer with no sugar in it. Sugar-free. There you go, creamer. Sets her up right for the day. um Yes. think we've talked about this. She doesn't know how much of each thing I put in her coffee because I've made her coffee for 10 years.
00:55:18
Speaker
um yeah I refuse to tell her so she's not so she can't replace me. This is the the running joke in the house. Yeah. yeah She can't get rid of me because she doesn't...
00:55:29
Speaker
I literally grind, you know, roast the coffee and grind up in the house and do all that. So she, if she wants her coffee, I come with the coffee. So, yeah I mean, that's, you know, logical.
00:55:41
Speaker
I think I'm sure there's things that Joseph does in the house. And if you started to learn how to do them, he'd go, what's going on here? You know, there's some things that are just his job. I'm sure things that he handles, you know, and that's just the way it is. yeah Yeah. yes Yeah.
00:55:56
Speaker
Yeah. Um, So, yeah, it works out well. Works out well. um Let's see. She's making the coffee there. And we go over to the the boy's apartment. i I love this scene.
Heartwarming Christmas Gesture
00:56:10
Speaker
I just love the effort that they've all gone to for this little girl. um Again, this this this this solo dad is letting the girl head off with Ross, and maybe they do know each other somehow. I'm going to take... this point, I really hope so. I hope so. maybe Maybe they knew each other somehow, like when they met, they figured out that they... I don't know.
00:56:33
Speaker
I don't know. He's a cleaner of apartments, so not in the same line of thought. He's the cleaner at the museum. There you go. Let's go with that. Let's go with the fact that they maybe figured out, you know what? Yeah, you I know you, and this there's no creepiness here at all. But they've gone to so much effort for yes for for this girl.
00:56:56
Speaker
i forgot Sarah Tuttle. Sarah Tuttle. I forgot completely, and man, it cracked me up. they I'm an alien. I'm an alien. There's Chandler's running around. what a line. Yes.
00:57:10
Speaker
well then here comes an destroyed Yeah, bangs the ball off his head. Yeah. it's It's a lot of effort has gone into to making this little girl happy.
00:57:22
Speaker
And I'm just, the episode ends on a high note for me. umma It does. I'm a big fan. It's very cute. Yeah, very, very cute indeed.
00:57:34
Speaker
I don't really have any notes like about this episode. It's just that usually I try to write down, you know, something happened. shared um about the girl, Mae Whitman. Mae Whitman.
00:57:45
Speaker
Yep. Yes. I think we just kind of threw stuff in there. Ooh, I can tell you that the brown birds don't really exist. Very nice. i assumed they were just like, again, how close can we get to โ Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts. Yeah, Brownies, all of that without a lawsuit on her hands.
00:58:03
Speaker
That was my assumption. Now, we had the Girl Guides. It was Brownies and then Girl Guides was what we grew up with. And then for boys, we had the Boys Brigade and then that moved into Scouts.
00:58:16
Speaker
But it's, i mean, it's all the same thing. It's just different names for same thing. Yeah. Yeah.
00:58:24
Speaker
Let's think. yeah i don't Oh, sorry. No, go ahead. go ahead go ahead i was I was just saying we had whenever I was little, like I was in brownies and then for a little while, but I did not have a good experience, so I didn't like it.
00:58:41
Speaker
um My brother got his Eagle Scout, like he went all the way through. and then That's pretty cool. and he But my dad and I we For quite a few years, we were in a program through the Y called Indian Princess.
00:59:00
Speaker
And so it was like a father-daughter, like, I don't know, theyt it like a... Like we would go, we had, tribe we were part of a tribe and we had our Indian names.
00:59:16
Speaker
Like he was big fish. I was little minnow. And like, we had like shirts and stuff and we were in the Sioux tribe. And so like, we learned all this stuff about the Indians and all that. And then we would have like camps that we would go to ah like with our tribe.
00:59:36
Speaker
And then there would be like at the y like YMCA camps. Like we went to grit Camp Grady Spruce and then we would do like all the little activities and things there. And, um ah but yeah, we did that for quite a few years and that was so much fun and it was a good experience. And I can't remember if we had to do fundraising or not, but I don't know. But yeah, that was really fun.
01:00:06
Speaker
That is really cool. It's, um, yeah, I did some of that stuff when I was younger. I can't remember quite when I stopped, I certainly didn't do it for a very long time. Um, so I suddenly got very distracted. The old lady who tells Ross to go away, um has done all kinds of acting.
01:00:27
Speaker
Um, I'm just going to throw some things at you. Bewitched. She was in I Love Lucy. um She was in Boy Meets World, MacGyver, Punky Brewster.
01:00:40
Speaker
Wow. oh yeah I mean, she's em acting since I think the 50s. The Brady Bunch. um Ironside, Columbo, Bewitched again. There we go.
01:00:53
Speaker
um I mean, big shows. Mr. Ed, I like a Dream of Jeannie. she's She's been in all of these things. The Hitchcock Hour, The Twilight Zone. The list goes on and on.
01:01:06
Speaker
um First appearing in TV in 1942. Wow. This is incredible. Let me just double check her name. Yes, Sandra Gold. She passed away just a couple of years after this episode aired.
01:01:20
Speaker
um Yeah, she was one of the voices of one of the Flintstones as well. and need to see which one. But yeah, yeah, a career actress.
01:01:33
Speaker
Was it Betty or... or I will need to have a look and see. and in literature literature i'm trying to see if I can quickly see just so we don't let leave lots of dead air here.
01:01:48
Speaker
It just said she was in the Flintstones, but it doesn't. at quick glance, say what one? um Oh, there we go. Where was it? Flintstones. She occasionally provided various cartoon voices for the Flintstones.
01:02:04
Speaker
So I guess you maybe did various smaller roles. Okay. Yeah. That's so cool. Karen and the Jimmy, what's her first name? who plays like She does quite a few of the voices in Hank's area.
01:02:20
Speaker
Um, Did you watch the smaller characters in The Simpsons too? Yeah. Yeah. yeah um Yeah. I just had i another question that's got in my head. and It's getting too late. I don't know. No. Yeah. I think i I got suddenly distracted by looking at this lady and just this huge length, you know, our list of um things she's done.
01:02:44
Speaker
Pretty interesting. I wonder if she had all those jobs because she had the fear. You know what? That's a great full circle moment. Yeah. I'm just saying.
01:02:55
Speaker
You know, if she hadn't had the fear, would she still be a waitress somewhere? and There you go. Who knows? Or would she have just stuck on one show? Yep. For her whole career. She could have been. yeah She could have been. All right. Let's see. We've got to rank.
01:03:13
Speaker
Well, no, we yeah, rank this week's episode, let's think 10. How many Christmas trees? Let's just be festive. How many Christmas trees? so let me tell you, in my notes, I have written down Christmas trees.
01:03:26
Speaker
And I have given the this episode seven. Seven Christmas trees. I love it. Yes, yeah, they got to be old, dead, loving, you know, they've had a good life Christmas trees.
01:03:39
Speaker
Yeah. um I'm not sure quite how this will work, but I'm going to do seven and then a mini, like get one for your office. So seven and a half Christmas trees. Or a skinny one for the corner. The skinny one for the corner that's just wrapped in cling film here and then, you know, gets thrown in the closet. um That's it. Yeah, seven and a half. There's just good moments. It's not a great episode. There's nothing huge to write home about it, but there's some funny stuff. I love the scene at the end when they've decorated the boys' apartment.
01:04:11
Speaker
And I like Joey and Phoebe's interactions at the the tree lot. I think a lot of fun. So, yeah, a seven and a half over here. And your Gunther Central Park of the Week.
01:04:27
Speaker
My Gunther Central perk is Monica. i mean, she she is battling her cookie addiction. She had overcome it, and now she's back in it, but she's working. And then um that she allowed all those dead Christmas trees just inside of her apartment and all the needles. I'm just saying it's a big deal. So there you go.
01:04:49
Speaker
You know what i I didn't know who I was going to go with when I watched the episode. that Nobody stands out. But then often when we talk about it, my Gunther Central Park sort of reveals themselves a little bit.
01:05:02
Speaker
And I think you are absolutely right. When we think about what a good friend she is to allow that level of mess and just the physical work of getting these trees in and out. good for i was I thought about going with Joey because I like what he does.
01:05:18
Speaker
for for Phoebe, but then Monica takes it to another level. And Phoebe doesn't even live there. She's just doing for Phoebe to come and visit. You know? Yeah. um She didn't take them to Phoebe's apartment where she could, that would still be a nice gesture and Monica wouldn't have the mess. But no, they did it there.
01:05:38
Speaker
So when I choose to believe when they celebrate Christmas together, Phoebe has all of her old trees. So good, good call there. And I am just bandwagoning with you and definitely going with Monica.
01:05:54
Speaker
Writing that one down. I like right. Next week is the one where Chandler can't remember which sister. Oh, I remember this one.
01:06:05
Speaker
Yes. Our friend Chandler is going get himself in a sticky situation. Yeah, he is. Yes. Yeah, he is. Interesting to see how this plays out. All right. and Any final thoughts on this week's episode?
01:06:19
Speaker
um No. No. I think I'm right there with you. Not a terrible episode, but yeah I think we've kind of gone through all of it.
01:06:29
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Funny moments. Funny moments. All right. Well, next week, like I said, the one where Chandler cannot remember or can't remember which sister. But on that note, I think we're done for this evening. It's been tremendous fun. Thank you, as always, Deanne.
01:06:46
Speaker
Thank you, Al. I appreciate it. Of course. And thank you, everybody, for listening to the Purple Door podcast.
