In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the great detail God has taken in creating and caring for the entire earth. God, alone, created EVERY SINGLE THING that exists! And more than that, God CARES for everything He created, down to feeding and caring for the animals! He knows the number of hairs on our heads and the number of days we will live. He knew us before we were even born and designed every one of us and every creature with PURPOSE. God did not leave anything to chance! Every characteristic of every person and animal is by HIS great design! Let us not be afraid to take ANYTHING to our loving God, who is our shepherd and cares for us. Nothing is too hard for Him or impossible for Him! Praise God!!!!

Introduction and Overview

00:00:03
Speaker
Good day everybody. Today is July 16th and you're here with Robin at In The Family Way Coaching. And we're here for our daily Bible reading through the Day by Day Kids Bible written by one of our favorite authors, Karen Henley.
00:00:17
Speaker
In case you didn't know, it's been a while that I mentioned this. Karen Henley is the author of the Beginner's Bible. So while this is not a very beginner's Bible, it is written by somebody who has lot of experience helping us learn how to understand the Bible from no matter what age we are.

Understanding the Chronological Bible

00:00:37
Speaker
So I'm so thankful to Karen Henley that she has that she took the time and God put it on her heart and that she obeyed to write this version of the Bible. This Bible, in case you don't know already because you are finding this event new, is written in chronological form in storybook format so that we get one great big picture of the entire Bible.
00:01:01
Speaker
Sometimes stories in the Bible are recorded in more than one book. And so when you're going through and reading, it can be confusing to know whether you have already read about this event and it's happened before or whether it's a similar event that happened again.
00:01:18
Speaker
And this consolidates all of the recordings of events in the Bible and puts them into one solid timeline. So especially like when we get to the New Testament here next month, you will find that it will consolidate the Gospels.
00:01:33
Speaker
The ah accounts from Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are sometimes they record the same event and we will simply have one telling of it. We won't be repeating the storyline.
00:01:45
Speaker
so we can understand everything that happened in chronological order.

Commitment and Preparation

00:01:50
Speaker
I love that. So if you are following along on your commitment calendar, go ahead and take that out and get your sticker out or however you're marking it off because you're about to hear the Bible today.

The Book of Job: God's Response

00:02:05
Speaker
Today we are going to hear God respond to Job and he is going to respond in the whirlwind. Today's readings take place for us from chapters 38 and 39 of Job.
00:02:21
Speaker
And tomorrow we will be completing the book of Job.
00:02:27
Speaker
Yesterday we left off with Elihu telling us some wisdom about God. And he left off saying to Job, Tell us what to say to God. We can't say anything because we don't know anything.
00:02:41
Speaker
God is higher than we can reach. And now we will hear God responding. He talks from a storm. Then God talked to Job from a storm.
00:02:54
Speaker
God said, Who is this? Who is talking without knowing what he is saying? Get ready like a man. I will ask you questions now, and you will answer me.
00:03:11
Speaker
Where were you when I made the foundations of the earth? Do you understand it? Tell me. Who marked how big it would be?
00:03:23
Speaker
What was the earth built on? That's when the morning stars sang. That's when the angels shouted with joy. Who closed the sea up behind doors?
00:03:38
Speaker
I made clouds for the sea's clothes. i told the sea, this is as far as you come. Here is where your proud waves must stop.
00:03:51
Speaker
Did you ever tell the morning what to do? Did you show the sunrise where to start? Have you traveled to where the sea starts? Have you walked in the deep places?
00:04:06
Speaker
Have you seen the gates of death? Do you understand how wide earth is? Tell me if you know.
00:04:17
Speaker
How do you get to where the light lives? Where does the dark live? Have you gone into the place where the snow is stored? Have you seen where the hail is kept?
00:04:30
Speaker
I save it for times of trouble. I save it for wars and fights. How do you get to where the lightning starts? How do you get to where the east wind starts blowing?
00:04:45
Speaker
Who makes a road for the rain to follow? Who makes raindrops water the desert where nobody lives? Does the rain have a father?
00:04:56
Speaker
Who is the father of ice and frost?

Reflections on God's Wisdom

00:05:00
Speaker
Can you put the stars in their places? Do you know the laws of earth and space?
00:05:08
Speaker
Can you call out to the clouds? Can you cover yourself with water? Do you send out flashes of lightning? Do they tell you, here we are?
00:05:21
Speaker
Who makes hearts wise? Who made minds understand? Who is wise enough to count the clouds? Do you hunt for the lioness's food?
00:05:36
Speaker
Do you bring them food when they lie in their dens? Who gives birds food to eat when their babies are hungry?
00:05:46
Speaker
Do you know when mountain goats have their babies? Do you watch when a deer has her baby? asked God. Who lets wild donkeys run free?
00:05:59
Speaker
Will the wild ox serve you? The ostrich flaps its wings with joy, but its wings are not as great as the stork's feathers. She lays eggs on the ground. She lets them get warm in the sand.
00:06:14
Speaker
Someone might step on them, but she does not think about that because God did not make her wise. But she holds out her wings and runs.
00:06:26
Speaker
Then she laughs at horses and their riders. Do you make the horse strong? Do you put a flowing mane on his neck? Do you make him jump like a big grasshopper?
00:06:41
Speaker
Do you make him scare people with his proud sounds? Do you?
00:06:48
Speaker
He hits the ground with his hoof. He runs into the fight and he is not afraid of anything. He does not run from swords. He hears the war horn blow and then he cannot stand still.
00:07:02
Speaker
He is ready to go into the fight. He smells the fight. He hears the captain shout. Does the hawk fly because you are wise?
00:07:15
Speaker
He holds out his wings and flies south. Does the eagle fly when you tell him to? Do you tell him to build his nest up high?
00:07:26
Speaker
He lives on a cliff. That is where he stays at night. A high rock is his fort.
00:07:35
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:07:40
Speaker
Yesterday, Elihu introduced us to some of the wisdom ah of God. And today God answers and asks all of these questions of Job.
00:07:50
Speaker
Job who had been asking him repeatedly, why do I deserve this? I have done so many things right and I haven't sinned. God now asks him questions.
00:08:04
Speaker
And tomorrow we will hear Job's answer. But today we are going to ponder the many wisdoms and the greatness and the graciousness of our God, our great and holy, majestic God, who is one.
00:08:19
Speaker
He is the only God who exists.

God's Care for Creation

00:08:22
Speaker
He alone created the world.
00:08:28
Speaker
I'm going to read us a couple of passages out of our big Bible too. They covered it a little bit here, but they' it's not entirely covered in our version. So I wanted to give us a little bit more.
00:08:46
Speaker
In chapter 38, verse 12, God says, have you ever in your life commanded the morning or caused dawn to know its place, that it would take hold of the corners of the earth and shake the wicked out of it?
00:09:05
Speaker
That's quite an image, isn't it? It changes shape like clay under a seal, and they stand out like those of a garment. And from the wicked, their light is withheld and the upraised arm is broken.
00:09:22
Speaker
Have you comprehended the expanses of the earth? If you know it, declare it. That is verse 18. And in verse 21, God says, Surely you know, for you were born then, and the number of your days is great.
00:09:44
Speaker
Verse 31. Can you bind the chains of Pleiades? Or loosen the belt of Orion? That's in the sky. Do you know the ordinances of the heavens and can you set up dominion over the earth?
00:10:00
Speaker
Can any of us do any of these things? Nobody can. Only our great and powerful all-knowing God. Verse 39.
00:10:13
Speaker
Do you hunt prey for the lioness or satisfy the hunger of young lions? when they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in the thicket?
00:10:24
Speaker
Who arranges provision for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food? Our great God, he is our great shepherd.
00:10:38
Speaker
We know that Jesus is the good shepherd and he takes care of us. But God is the one who takes care of everything before Jesus was sent to to be our shepherd.
00:10:49
Speaker
Jesus was always there with God in the beginning. But God is the one who looks out for it every single thing on this earth. He asked Job,
00:11:01
Speaker
if he was the one who provides food for the raven and for the lions. God cares about his creation.

God's Intimate Knowledge

00:11:10
Speaker
He is not just the creator and then set things up and then walked away for things to just go their own way.
00:11:18
Speaker
God keeps order. He watches out for every single living creature. And he did not bestow wisdom on the ostrich, he tells us, but he bestows wisdom as he chooses in the hearts of men.
00:11:35
Speaker
In chapter 39, see that...
00:11:39
Speaker
we see that The ostrich, she it says that she treats her young ones harshly as if they were not hers. And she is not concerned that her labor was in vain for God did not endow her with wisdom or give her a share of understanding.
00:12:00
Speaker
God did not choose to give the ostrich understanding or wisdom. That is amazing.
00:12:11
Speaker
God says in verse 26 chapter 39, God simply set life motion for it to evolve on its God designed every single detail every living creature.
00:12:21
Speaker
your command that an eagle soars and builds its nest high god did not simply set life in motion for it to evolve on its own everything was created purposely god designed every single detail of every living creature God knows everything, not just some things or most things.
00:12:46
Speaker
he He did not just set things in motion and then walk away. God knows every little detail. He cares for the animals. He watches them give birth.
00:12:58
Speaker
He knows the number of hairs on our heads. He knew us. He knew you before you were born. He knew me before I was born. He created purpose for you before you were born.
00:13:12
Speaker
He made good works for you to do He made good works for me to do Our God is involved in every single detail of every creature's life.
00:13:26
Speaker
That is extraordinary. That is more magnificent than we ever give thought to in a day.

Pondering God's Greatness

00:13:34
Speaker
God is aware of every single detail of every single living creature, and he has created every single living creature.
00:13:44
Speaker
That is such magnificence, and that is just such a big thought. ah Today, our daily application is to ponder our God's greatness.
00:13:56
Speaker
Everything you see, God set in motion. God is in charge of everything. Nothing is outside of his control. We can pray for anything because nothing is too hard or impossible for our God to do.
00:14:12
Speaker
Our God who knows all of the laws of the of the sky and the earth, the rules of physics, as we would say, God created all of them. They are his rules that we are trying to learn.
00:14:26
Speaker
And none of us can do these things. God is so amazing in that he loves us in all of this. He cares for us. He watches out for us.
00:14:38
Speaker
And we are created in his image.

Conclusion and Blessings

00:14:42
Speaker
That is just extraordinary. So I hope that you feel that all of these things are just overwhelmingly magnificent today.
00:14:51
Speaker
And that God has lit your light with these amazing thoughts today. I hope you have a fantastic day as you ponder everything that you see today. May God open your eyes to see and your ears that you may hear and be aware of God's great creation and majesty all around you today.
00:15:13
Speaker
And I will be here for everyone again tomorrow.
