Introduction and Inclusion of Scooby

00:00:20
Speaker
ah Good afternoon or good day, everybody, whatever time it is that you are watching or listening to November 26th, daily reading out of the Day by Day Kids Bible, written by Karen Henley.
00:00:34
Speaker
My name is Robin. I'm with In the Family Way Coaching. And today i have made extensive effort to make room for Scooby as our a silent partner today.
00:00:46
Speaker
ah and Thank you for joining me for our daily reading today. Pearl, I worked really hard to make sure I got Scooby in the picture today. Look, you can my head is almost cut off here. I'm doing the best I can but to keep everything in the picture. i know that you have missed seeing Scooby, and I know Jedi and Force, you have missed seeing Scooby too. And so i he he just doesn't sit up on my lap as well because I i usually have shorts on, as you can see. and You know can't really tell on a daily basis, but I wear shorts to work.
00:01:19
Speaker
because otherwise I will be way too hot. So I was trying to find a way, and he wants to crawl up onto my lap during my time when I'm taking my cover picture. And I'm trying to fidget and fuss to try to get him in the picture so that he actually doesn't look like he's being forced to be in the picture when he's the one that wants to be on my lap. So today i just, I fiddled around and I thought, hmm, we'll put the chair. and Then it was still too low. We'll put the basket. And there he is, our silent guest.
00:01:53
Speaker
Scooby, you make way too much noise. but Well, thank you for being here

Unity and God's Love in Ephesians

00:02:16
Speaker
Did you like my little intro there with the song? We are reading in Ephesians, and we mentioned yesterday that Paul, in his writing to the Ephesians, is not going to be addressing any difficulties that they are facing. But instead, he is urging them throughout the letter to understand how they are one, how we are all So,
00:02:39
Speaker
unified together in in god's spirit and so paul is going to be talking about that again- today explaining in more depth how we are one and he is also going to be explaining that it's all because of god's great love for us So with that in mind, that is what I want us to keep ah as our understanding, as our interpretation as well, as we read through Ephesians chapters 2 and 3 today.
00:03:10
Speaker
We are all together. Thank you for being together with me through our daily reading every day. Before we get started, I do want to give a couple of shout outs. I would like to say hello to Andrea.
00:03:23
Speaker
Thank you so much for being here. I'm hoping that you are checking out our Spanish version. And she is a friend from work and but there's actually two Andreas at work. And both of you are hopefully going to check out that Spanish ah version on YouTube to let me know how it sounds, because I don't speak that much Spanish. And I'm interested in knowing how it's ah converting. Is it converting well?
00:03:51
Speaker
So also I'd like to say hello to Saba. Saba, hey, thank you so much for joining me. Thank you for having an open mind, Saba. You have such a gentle heart and a gentle spirit that I know God wants you to join us in our spiritual community more than the I cannot remember the name of of the faith, but there is a, and where they have the Lotus Temple.
00:04:20
Speaker
Thank you so much for having an open mind and joining us here. And those of you watching, would you please pray for Saba that his heart would be opened to be led toward Jesus. We're praying for you, Saba, because we love you. And we're going to be talking about God's great love for all of us, including you, Saba, today in our daily reading.
00:04:43
Speaker
So with that said, let's head over to our reading today and begin. We left off yesterday where Paul said to us that Jesus is in charge of his followers and they are called the church.
00:05:02
Speaker
Jesus is like the head and his followers are like the body. What about you? He says today, you were sinning. It's like you were dead.
00:05:14
Speaker
And that's because you used to follow the world's ways. You followed Satan, who rules the kingdom of the air. He is the spirit who is working in people who do not obey God.
00:05:30
Speaker
And we were all like that once. We all sinned the way we wanted to. And so God was angry with us. But... God loves us very much.
00:05:43
Speaker
He is full of kind love. And it's like we were dead because of our sin, but now we have been saved by God's kind love.
00:05:55
Speaker
God brought us back to life again with Jesus. And God lets us sit with Jesus in heaven. And this is so he can show his great kindness and how great his kindness is.
00:06:11
Speaker
And it's all because of Jesus. God's kind love saves you when you believe. And this is not something that you can do.
00:06:24
Speaker
It's a gift. It's a gift from God. You can't work to get it either. so you can't brag about having it. but We're gonna talk later about something you can brag about.
00:06:37
Speaker
So keep that in mind.

Jesus as the Unifier

00:06:40
Speaker
You were made by God. Everybody, you, you were made by God. And he made you to do good things.
00:06:51
Speaker
He created work for you to do. and God planned this work for you to do before you were even born. Wow, talk about being born into a to-do list.
00:07:06
Speaker
And you people who are not Jews, which is probably most of us here who are listening, you need to remember something. In the past, you were not with Jesus and you were not God's people because God's people were the Jewish people and you did not know God's promise.
00:07:28
Speaker
I'm explaining this here. It's not in our writing. The promise that was made in the old covenant. You did not have hope. Whereas the Jewish people, I'm adding this as my own, had hope that someday God would send for them a savior, the Messiah, whom they are still looking for and waiting for.
00:07:50
Speaker
You did not have God. You were far away from him then, but now Jesus has brought you close to God.
00:08:02
Speaker
And Jesus brings shalom. Peace, wholeness, wellness, completeness. That is the meaning of shalom. That is also my own addition.
00:08:15
Speaker
He brings together all people, people who are Jewish and people who are not Jewish. And there is nothing that can keep us apart now.
00:08:28
Speaker
There is no reason for them not to get together. Jesus brought people together when he died and that got rid of the law.
00:08:39
Speaker
And now people can make peace with each other. Jesus made a way for everyone to come to God. And Jesus taught Shalom to each of you and all of you.
00:08:54
Speaker
And we can all come to God, his father, by his Holy Spirit. And now you're not strangers anymore. You are part of God's people. You are in God's family.
00:09:09
Speaker
And that is why I sang that song today. We're all together. We're all together. And together we'll have a lot of fun.
00:09:20
Speaker
Cause your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends. And the more we get together, the happier we'll be. ah There's nothing that can keep us apart.
00:09:34
Speaker
God's family is like a building. And the apostles and the prophets are like the very bottom, the base of the building. And then Jesus, he is the most important part of the building.
00:09:48
Speaker
Jesus is the whole building. The whole building fits together in him. And the building, it grows tall. And it turns into a special worship house for God.
00:10:03
Speaker
And you, you are like a house. You, Saba, are like a house. You

Paul's Message from Prison

00:10:09
Speaker
are all like a house. And you are a house because God's spirit lives in you.
00:10:17
Speaker
And that is the house that God lives in.
00:10:21
Speaker
Paul tells us in Ephesians 3 now that I am in jail for Jesus. And it's because I am helping you people who are not Jewish. And I'm sure you have heard how God gave me his kind love.
00:10:34
Speaker
And he showed me a mystery. I love all the mysteries that God reveals to Paul, don't you? And here is the mystery, Paul says. People who are not Jewish get to be in God's kingdom.
00:10:49
Speaker
And they can be in God's kingdom just like the Jews can. And they all share God's kingdom together because of Jesus. He is the Messiah, the promised one.
00:11:02
Speaker
That's my own addition as well. And I'm not as important as the rest of God's people, Paul tells us. God gave me his kind love anyway.
00:11:14
Speaker
And his kind love lets me teach people who are not Jewish. And I teach them about the riches that they can have from Jesus.
00:11:26
Speaker
God's kind love makes his mystery clear. God hid the mystery for a long time. And his plan was to show how wise he is.
00:11:38
Speaker
And that can be seen by looking at his people. So people can tell how wise God is by looking at us, his people. That's amazing.
00:11:49
Speaker
God's plan was for even rulers in heaven to see his wise thinking. And his plan did not fail. And it worked because of Jesus. We believe in Jesus.
00:12:04
Speaker
And so we couldn't come to God freely and bravely.

Prayer for Strength and Love

00:12:10
Speaker
Remember how once before there used to be a veil in the temple separating God's holiness from everybody else.
00:12:17
Speaker
But when Jesus died, that veil was torn, allowing access to God's spirit to everybody. This was not something previously known to anybody, not to the Jewish people, not to us.
00:12:33
Speaker
But now, because Jesus died for our sins, and we are now made clean, Now we can come to God freely and bravely. you can That means you can come to God without fear. And that's all my addition to. That's my explanation of what we're reading.
00:12:54
Speaker
I bow down to God the Father, Paul tells us. His family in heaven is named for him. His family on earth is also named for him.
00:13:07
Speaker
He has great, powerful riches. I am praying that God will make you strong with his power. And he will do this by his spirit who lives inside you.
00:13:24
Speaker
and that way Jesus can live in your hearts. And he lives in your hearts because you believe in him. That's simple. Paul tells us that I am also praying that you will know Jesus's love.
00:13:41
Speaker
I want you to know how wide his love is. i want you to know how long it is. i want you to know how high and how deep it is. God's love is greater than you can ever know.
00:13:57
Speaker
But still, I want you to know as much of it as you possibly can. And I want you to be filled to the top with God.
00:14:08
Speaker
God can do so much more than anything we ever could ask or think. And it's all because his power works in us. So let God's greatness shine in his people.
00:14:23
Speaker
Let it shine in Jesus for forever and ever. Yes, amen.
00:14:31
Speaker
And that is the end of our reading today.
00:14:37
Speaker
God's great love is so amazing. It is so great. We can't even know all of it. And Paul is contrasting that. In the beginning, he says that we were following the world's ways.
00:14:53
Speaker
We followed Satan who rules the kingdom of the air. And he is the spirit who is working in people who do not obey God. We were all like that once and we sinned the way we wanted to.
00:15:06
Speaker
But because God loves us, he saved us. And there is so much more to God's love than we could ever know. But still, we want to know as much as we can.

Boasting in Understanding God

00:15:21
Speaker
And because we can't earn or work for God's love, he just gives it to us freely. It's not something we can brag about the fact of how good we are to have earned it.
00:15:32
Speaker
It's not based on our own merit, on our own good behavior. Because while we were still sinning, God saved us.
00:15:43
Speaker
It wasn't because we earned it or because we were finally good enough to get it. You didn't have to be good enough to get it. That's amazing.
00:15:53
Speaker
And because we cannot boast about it, God tells us that there is something, however, that we can brag about. And God tells us in Jeremiah chapter 9, verse 24, that let the one who wants to brag, brag about this, that they have the understanding to know me.
00:16:18
Speaker
that I am the Lord who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth. For in these, I delight, declares the Lord.
00:16:35
Speaker
God is love. he We talked yesterday about the fact that nobody makes God do good things. Nobody makes God choose to do what is right. God has all power.
00:16:50
Speaker
God could choose to be like how we view the mythology gods, like Zeus and the other gods, where people had to make um sacrifices to try and appease the anger of the gods.
00:17:05
Speaker
God is not like that. And he is he chooses to be good and to do what is right. It says here in Jeremiah 9, 24, that God exercises kindness.
00:17:19
Speaker
When we exercise, we are working it. He chooses kindness. He exercises kindness. He exercises justice. He exercises righteousness. So when we talked yesterday about the fact that we are being transformed, and if when in order for that to occur, we have to have circumstances and situations in which we have to practice.
00:17:44
Speaker
We have to exercise. We don't just become strong in these circumstances. by doing nothing and just magically wake up one day and poof, I no longer have to worry about being patient. I just have all the patience in the world.
00:17:57
Speaker
Now it is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, patience and kindness and love and joy. And these are fruits that grow within us as we come to know God and are obeying him.
00:18:12
Speaker
So they are the fruit that grows. And so since you can tell what kind of plant it is by the type of fruit it bears, Paul told us yesterday to be like a plant and put our roots down deep in Jesus.
00:18:30
Speaker
And then we will grow these fruits and we have to exercise these fruits. We work at them. We're not because we are able to achieve them on our own, but they it is a symbiotic relationship. That's a big word, but it means to work together.
00:18:49
Speaker
These practices work together with God's spirit. that As we choose to do the right thing because we have understanding, they do become easier.
00:19:03
Speaker
And God has been practicing kindness. love and justice for a long time forever not because he has to but because he chooses to god is slow to anger because he chooses to be and so that's why we also need to choose because god with all power chooses to do the right thing And he shows us with his love and his kindness to be like him.

Call to Unity and Love

00:19:36
Speaker
And so we are now children of God. We are his offspring. we are inheritant We are inheritors of his kingdom. We are co-heirs with Jesus.
00:19:49
Speaker
We are allowed to be in heaven with him as co-heirs, inheriting God's kingdom. What is that kingdom? Eternal life. but it only happens when we choose to believe that jesus did this for us there is a lot of of physical evidence for it but the spiritual evidence is so much greater so much greater we can see that we can see who we are by loving people and it's not just a general love where
00:20:24
Speaker
Certain religions or other religions may teach to do kind things, to be loving. We are taught to be like God. And we are enabled further by God's spirit whom he places in us.
00:20:40
Speaker
In addition, when we become believers, we are all united as one body, as one church, as one building. So while we are little bitty buildings, little bitty congregations, we all build this big congregation of God's people.
00:21:02
Speaker
And we house the Holy Spirit in that congregation, each of us individually, and then together, unified. And nothing can separate us. Nothing can take us apart. There is no reason why we cannot get along with one another.
00:21:20
Speaker
Nothing. Doesn't matter whether we are Jewish, and they have not yet even come to understand and accept Jesus as the Messiah, or even if they have, we are unified. We need to be teaching other people about this unification, which is so different from a general idea of just be loving.
00:21:43
Speaker
Together, when we love, we are loving with God's Holy Spirit, which is powerful. Love by itself is good, but the love that comes from God's spirit is a power that is so great, we can't even understand all of it.
00:22:02
Speaker
And it is so deep and so wide. And the the way it it just it magnifies is far greater than any single person who does not believe in Jesus and God could ever accomplish on their own.
00:22:20
Speaker
Well, I hope that you feel encouraged. I hope that you feel unified with the body. I hope that you feel like God's light is shining through you. And we're going to pray for us today.
00:22:31
Speaker
I am going to pray God's prayer for us. ah but I'm sorry, Paul's prayer for us today as well. I pray that you will know Jesus's love, that you, Saba, will know Jesus's love, that everybody listening will know Jesus's love.
00:22:48
Speaker
how wide it is, how long it is how high and how deep Jesus and God's love is. And while it will still always be greater than we could ever know, i pray that you will know as much of this wonderful love as it is possible for you to know.
00:23:10
Speaker
And I pray that you be filled to the top with God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
00:23:20
Speaker
Let God's greatness shine in you. You are God's people. And let it shine in Jesus forever and ever. Amen.
00:23:33
Speaker
And it's in Jesus' name that I ask that for all of you listening to today and we're watching. I hope you have a very blessed day and that you are just shining with the Holy Spirit.
00:23:46
Speaker
all day, no matter what day you get around to watching or listening to this November 26th daily reading.

Encouragement to Engage and Share

00:23:53
Speaker
And I hope that you will be hungry and join me again tomorrow and that you will continue reading with me for the balance of this year. And for those of you who are joining me later in the year, I want to extend an invitation to you to join again in January. It won't be live.
00:24:09
Speaker
I won't be that I just recorded it rather, but... it will still be there and it's still just as relevant then as it was on January 1st in 2025. So if you see the 2025 written on there, don't be discouraged. That was in the beginning, I was writing the year ah for all of the entries. I'm going to try and go back and change those so that they're not timestamped with a year. I think that that may have a possibility of discouraging people by thinking it's old or something.
00:24:38
Speaker
but it is the same day by day kids Bible written by Karen Henley, and it will be available for you wherever you like to watch or listen. This event is available on YouTube and now available in multiple languages on YouTube video. So check that out if you need to, or would like to listen to this in your native language of Spanish or French or German or Japanese, um,
00:25:06
Speaker
And there are multiple other languages like Dutch, but I just can't imagine there's much use for that here in in California or sand or United States, but mostly Spanish. I'm super excited that this is now available in Spanish since ours we are connected to South America and that's primarily the dominant language is Spanish. So it makes sense that it would be very available to you there.
00:25:33
Speaker
This is the World Wide Web. So in Apple Music is also available on Apple Music. So I know that there are some listeners in other countries. So I believe it's available also in Korean and in Japanese.
00:25:46
Speaker
So if you are in another country and you are picking this up, it's available in your native language there. It's also available on YouTube Music and Spotify. I also have this event on Spotify, so there's video and audio available there.
00:26:02
Speaker
And it's also on Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Podbean. So it has it's available on any podcasting app that you may choose to use. It's there for you, however you like to listen or to watch.
00:26:19

00:26:33
Speaker
If you know somebody who could hear and benefit from today's daily reading, please share it with them. We know that sharing is caring. And we want everybody to know how connected we are through God's great love for all of us.
00:26:46
Speaker
So until I am here again for you for tomorrow's daily reading, I hope that you will have a very blessed and enjoyable day. And I hope that you have also enjoyed seeing Scooby sleeping over here.
00:27:00
Speaker
Scooby, you're so loud. He is the quietest dog I have ever had. ah So I hope you've enjoyed seeing Scooby in the picture today. For those of you who are watching the video.
00:27:14
Speaker
Until next time, see you then.
