Speaker: And we just wrap up with cadmium here. Cadmium toxicity has been associated with neurological and behavioral disorders. It's been shown to cause damage or dysfunction in the brain, liver, kidneys, lungs, testes, bones, and even the placenta.
Speaker: In some ways, cadmium may harm our health, include it can disturb the blood -brain barrier, it can contribute to oxidative stress, it can induce premature cell death, it can cause neurotransmitter disturbances, and it can also disturb the metabolism of our essential minerals such as calcium, zinc, and iron.
Speaker: So cadmium is used in many industrial and household products, things like batteries, plastics, metal coatings, ceramics, glass, metal alloys, other sources of exposure, large fish from the ocean, soils and water can be contaminated, seafood such as shellfish, crab, octopus, oysters, fertilizers and fungicides, air pollution, exhaust fumes or source,
Speaker: It's basically found to a degree in all foods and plant foods tend to be higher in it from what I've read in the research. So again, not much that we can do to fully eliminate sources of exposure in our lives. But as I keep repeating, because it needs to be repeated,
Speaker: We need to minimize exposure as much as possible without going too crazy, of course, and overstressing ourselves. And we need to support our family's detoxification systems with certain dietary practices, supplementation, things like that.
